In the land of kings and monsters, the people prayed for mercy from the chaos and two gods answered. One a woman with a beauty beyond compare with flowing red hair streaked with golds of the sun and blues of the skies, and the other, a man with strength no one could best. The woman, goddess Mariun, bestowed upon her four chosen individuals objects that appeared unique only to the individual it was destined for but seemed no more than a broken trinket to those not worthy. The man, god Raoul, bestowed upon his four chosen armor that could withstand demonic magic and blades that could cut through the toughest skins. Lead by these merciful gods, they alone restored order to the chaos. It was they who founded the Order of the Destined.

The Order of the Destined was founded by two gods, Mariun, goddess of magic and sorcery, the sky, will, and birds, and Raoul, god of earth, metal, politics, and war. Together with their Destined, they brought wonder and hope into a world were there seemed to be none. But once the two gods felt their work was done, they chose two of their destined to lead the order and continue their practise and bestowed upon them their last gift, and perhaps the most precious, knowledge to aid them in their noble quest for order.

A century had passed since the rise of the Order, and since then what started off as a humble organization has turned into one of the greatest forces of this time with branches in every kingdom far and wide. But the Castle-city of Haven was where their story had started, the seaside settlement transforming into the largest city in the kingdom, and perhaps all of the nine great kingdoms. In the center, the castle towering tall and proud over it's people. In honor of Mariun and Raoul, a queen and king with equal power are chosen to lead, and it is to them the Order has sworn their loyalty.

The Order itself resides in a now sprawling construct on the edge of the city. Built right up against the Grand Wall that protects the city of outside invasion and monstrous forces at works it houses numerous disciples with new children, whether born or recruited, coming in on a semi-regular basis, and masters that help guide these children into initiates. A work staff aids in the care of the residences and the up keep of the grounds, but are by no means servants. Disciples, initiates, members, and masters alike are expected to clean up after themselves and are in charge of their living spaces. The grounds can house children thirteen and older, keeping the younger disciples, children who are still training to become initiates, in rooms of four with two bunk beds and chests to store items, and the older disciples, those who have seen their fifteenth winter in rooms of two with two beds and chests. Once inituated upon seeing their eighteenth winter, they are given the choice to live off grounds. The younger disciples, children who are still learning about the world, often live in nursery houses off the grounds in clusters of seven with a woman and a man to look after them. Unless one or both of their parents belong to the Order, then they can stay with them until the age of thirteen.

Besides living spaces, the Order also has a large dining room where they serve three meals a day, kitchens where anyone other than kitchen staff is not allowed, training grounds for both martial and magical purposes, classrooms, and study halls. Upon entrance, one can find themselves in the main hall where announcenents are given, disciples are initiated, and members can find missions posted on the message board; however, personally assigned missions, while rare, can be arranged in many other ways. The local bath houses and other establishments such as the forges also serve the Order for recreational and intellectual purposes.

But not all is well. Recently, Destined, a pairing of one warrior of Raoul and one sorceress of Mariun, have been going missing during their assignments and the Order is starting to become worried, especially now when they are to initiate their graduating disciples and send them off on their first quest. Murmurings have started amongst the masters of whether or not they should proceed, or delay the initiation until the two missing parties can be found. If they do, it would the first initiation delayed since the Order of the Destined was established.

I don't think its a very good idea. I don't the idea of having stats and combat rules. I would rather play Pathfinder or D&D if I wanted that. I might actually leave before it starts if the EXP is put it place.

Also, I have a question about how the stats will be put into the game? Will there be rolls? If so I'm already thinking of leaving. If that is OK.

Name: Gareth Bryne
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Personality:
+(-?)Protective of his partner.
+The strong, silent type.
+Rather good at listening.
-Sometimes pretends to listen to you because he doesn't care about your problems
-Stubbornly sits on his idea, or what he thinks is a good idea.
-When he talks, he can't help but be loud.
-(+?) Definitely a follower, not a leader.
Role: Warrior
Weapon: An odachi with a fire enchantment.

Everyday Appearance: :

Attacks:
1. Sweeping slash: Gareth sweeps his odachi in a broad arc around him, slashing all around him except for those standing directly behind him.
2. Shatter: Gareth strikes the earth, causing a small chasm to open up in a straight line from where he struck. Those that fall in normally get the wind knocked out of them and must either climb out, or remain in the chasm.
3. Bastion: Strengthening his resolve, Gareth is able to take a large beating and barely bat an eye. Useful for holding choke points, when facing large numbers, or dueling.
4. Protect: When it comes to the protection of his partner, he knows everything. He can sense when his partner is in immediate danger.
5.

Intelligence: ■■ (2)

Biography:
  • 1-5. Normal childhood, he knew about Warriors and Sorceresses, but he had no intention of being one at that age.
  • 6-9. Father, who was a Warrior himself, began teaching Gareth the basics of fighting so he wouldn't embarrass himself in school. More for the parent's sake then the child's.
  • 10-11. First year of school, Gareth became more introverted and didn't talk as much as he used to. The first time he was introduced to several other children that would be his friends growing up. Average student when it comes to being a Warrior.
  • 12-16. The honing of his skills and specializing his fighting style. Hit quick, hit hard, and don't let them hit back. Began to excel in one on one duels. Was average when fighting multiple opponents.
  • 17-18. Finalization of his fighting style. Began training with a real odachi instead of the practice swords that were given to younger students. His determination and stubbornness began to shine through as he continued to train relentlessly and his insistence on continuing a duel until he could barely move.

Relationships: TBD

Initiation Ceremony
Gareth stood in line, back straight, hands held behind him, and his feet confidently spread apart. He was a Warrior now, or he was going to be soon. That is what it meant to be standing in the front like this, it meant that he had graduated and was now to be initiated officially into the Order.

When his name was called, he stepped forward to a set of armor that ever so slightly resembled a bird, an odachi resting in a scabbard next to it. Reaching forward, Gareth grabbed the helmet of the set of armor, and placed it on his head, claiming it as his own. He then grabbed the odachi, scabbard and all, and held it next him, also claiming it as his own.
Changes have been made, just like I said there'd be. @Noctis the Devious.

@Beowulf, looks good :)

Okay, so the best way it seems is to make everyone add precise damage to their attacks and use a more reward base system. For the Warriors I'm considering changing the intelligence stat to accuracy. As much as I love using dice using them to calculate probability of hits gets annoying. I'll give you a battle early on and see how it turns out.

Not a fan of precise numbers. Means that we have to now consider HP values and all that, which is sorta annoying.

I agree with what erode says. Though I think some way to quickly decide a fight should exist, just so that it isn't two people going back and forth and both refusing to lose. I myself don't do that, and doubt anyone here does it, but better safe then sorry.

Maybe something like...

Determine ahead of time how difficult a fight would be.

Use a dice that has a low level of variance, such as a d6, instead of a d20.

Determine the number of times that each side has to win in order to win the confrontation.

After that, roll it up as 'clashes', and see who wins first.

Thus, as an example...
Warrior Bro needs to win two clashes against a Common Bandit, who needs to win five clashes.
First Clash: Warrior wins.
Second Clash: Common Bandit wins.
Third to Fifth Clash: Common Bandit wins.
Sixth Clash: Warrior wins.

This then, would ICly translate into a fight where the Common Bandit puts up much more resistance than normal, but is still ultimately vanquished.

While something like...
First to Second Clash: Warrior wins.
Would translate into the warrior elegantly defeating the bandit in an eloquent display of skill.

Special skills or whatever can be used in da Clashes.

And finally, PvP fights can just be determined via collabing and an agreement of who gets to win from the start.

@Neko_Green, are you comfortable with this? Because this is probably the best way to handle battles.

Gender
Female
Age
Eighteen
Role
Sorceress

Personality
+Creative: Payton is a creative and a free thinker when it comes to art and painting, often using bright colors and unusual shading to make her work stand out. Outside of art, she applies her creativity to her magic, though not always with successful results.
+Playful: Once you get to know her, she can be a bit playful; often indulging in banter and little pranks. She particularly uses her static spell for such purposes, which is unfortunate particularly for her roommate. As much as she enjoys teasing, however, she knows how to pick her timing and isn't the kind of person who can't take anything seriously.
+Determined: Once Payton puts her mind to something, she'll go to great lengths to see it through, from figuring out the kinks to a spell to getting her way in a project. She approaches things with an almost single minded focus that could sometimes do more harm than good. In the end, she views herself a reliable person and one that her peers to count on when they need something done

-Cautious: As determined as she can be, it isn't often Payton throws caution to the wind, always looking before jumping. While most considers this the quality of someone grounded, it can lead her to hesitate before making that one crucial decision in a battle or not taking an opportunity because of double guessing herself.
-Cynical: For no particular reason Payton can't find it within herself to trust others, especially those she just met and of the male variety. She always questions a person's motivation and personal interests, picking apart their actions with a certain level of scrutiny. It takes some warming up on her end to convince her of no ill intent.
-Workaholic: She tends to drown herself in her work if allowed. She's not stranger to all-nighters and have been known to do group projects all by herself just to ensure it gets down right. When there is nothing for her to do, she gets restless and searches out something to do. Even if it's needlessly cleaning her shared living quarters.

Destined Object
Ornate Belt: She wears it slung loosely across her hips with a string of glass beads extending from the buckle and connecting again in the back.
Trinket?
Leather Belt: A plain leather belt worn loosely around her hips.
Magic Source
Blue Lightning
Transformation Appearance
A blue and gold chest plate that is as tough as steel but as light and flexible as cloth she wears in the style of a halter top, matching shoulder guards extend from it and curve elegantly at the tips. Blue arm warmers encase her arms starting from just below her shoulders and clasp around her thumbs and a set of blue and gold bracers are bound to her wrists. An armored belt extends around her waist and over the pleated skirt she wears over a pair of tights. Over the belt her Destined Object is worn. Blue and gold boots completes the set. When she transforms, strange symbols appear on her skin.
Everyday Appearance
Pacen's features blend together in a monochrome of pales and fairs all accept for her shockingly blue eyes. Standing 5'7", she is a tall and elegant figure, albeit one that is quite angular and boney, who is never seen without a cloak unless she has transformed and always will she be wearing a tunic dress under it. Of course her Destined Object will always accompany her around her slender hips. She wears her blonde hair long despite her preferring it short, but is reluctant to cut it for fear of what her mother may say. Instead, she wears it in random braids more out of convenience than style. It's bad enough her lack of curves makes her feel less feminine than the rest of her peers.
Spells
Static Shock: As long as the target can carry a static charge she can apply this ability to it and upon being touch, administers a small charge. A harmless spell that is used more for pranks than for combat.
Fast Forward: Payton covers her body with lightning that increases her physical speed for a short amount of time.
At Standstill: This spells admits a voltage that can paralyze lesser monsters for a limited amount of time.
Lightning Bolt: Payton discharges a single bolt of lightning that can hit a single target for damage. May take a moment to charge depending on how far the target is and how powerful she intends it to be.
Energy Ball: Payton concentrates her lightning into a single ball that she can fire at a single target but can be used in quick recession; however, doing so reduces the damage caused and can lead to tiring herself out more quickly.

Biography:
Payton was born out of wedlock between a young Sorceress and a rich merchant.
Because a bastard child would bring shame to the merchant's family the merchant quickly denied the child as his and turned his back on them.
Feeling hurt and betrayed, Payton's mother raised her on stories of just how cruel and heartless the world can be.
She even gave Payton her father's family name just to spite him.
This ultimately nurtured a more cynical view on the world in the girl.
Payton's mother works for the Order as a respectable recruiter and as Payton grew older, the less she saw of her.
While friendly enough, Payton has kept her emotional distance from her peers and definitely doesn't hold much trust for men after hearing such stories of what her mother had described as nothing short of abandonment from the woman.
The fact most people recognise her surname and try to gain personal favors through friendly gestures, thinking she has some claim to her father's fortune, didn't help her views very much.

Initiation Ceremony
Life in the Order of the Destined started as early as the sunrise, with disciples and members alike being awoken by the sound of pots being beaten with wooden spoons by the help who had to get up even earlier. Unlike most days however, this particular morning was filled with a sense of anticipation, nervous excitement, and even a bit of dread for what was to come. What if they did decided to delay the Initiation Ceremony? But even with the question resting on every other initiates minds, everyone still dressed for the day and meandered on toward breakfast. It wouldn't be until afterwards when they stood in the main hall, with masters and staff lining the edges on the room as Grand Sorceress Elenor and the Grand Warrior Cider looked over the crowd of gathering disciples. The eight to be initiated standing in the front towards the slightly raised stage and their peers standing in neat rows behind them. Some of them barely keeping themselves from fidgeting.

Finally, Grand Sorceress Elenor and Grand Warrior Cide both smiled and raised their hands as four Destined Objects - shrouded so no young Sorceress could them apart - and four sets of armor on stands appeared in a neat line. "When we call your name please step forward and claim what is rightfully yours," The Grand Sorceress chimed. "Payton Macator." The young sorceress in question stiffened before relaxing into a graceful stride. On the inside, though, she was worried. She knew a shroud would prevent her from seeing her Object from afar, but what if the Grand Sorceress made a mistake and hers wasn't there? What if all she continued to see was junk? What if...

Her eyes landed on a belt made entirely of interlocking plates of intricately engraved gold metal with a string of blue and orange glass beads extending from the hollow buckle and connecting again in the back. She never knew love at first sight, didn't believe in it, but the moment that belt was in her hands she was sure the feeling was pretty damn close to it. She clasped it around her narrow hips and and bowed her thanks to the Grand Sorceress, retreating back into the line of the other awaiting Destined.

Normally I have these things done faster but I kept getting distracted x.x But I finally finished Payton :D I'll update the Cast list with her icon tomorrow.

I like her :D Couple things though:

Name TBA - Creates three rugged, slightly transparent, green ice crosses that float around Aurora (range up to 3 meter radius around her, crosses are up to 175 cm tall, 30 cm thick). Auto-intercept attacks, extremely high durability. Can be used to bludgeon enemies.

This is more clarification than anything: the crosses only "bludgeons enemies" when they intercept an attack and she can't actually use them to attack right?

Name TBA - Creates a smooth, slightly transparent, curving, green ice sculpture in the shape of a four-armed, three-legged golem (up to 5 meter operational radius around her, golem up to 2 meters tall). Guards an assigned target, engaging any non-friendly presences in combat. High durability.

How about starting off with only two arms and two legs o.o;

Name TBA - Creates a jagged, slightly transparent, sharp, green ice eruption from the ground at a distance (range up to 4 meters around her, eruption up to 2 meters high, 2 meters wide). Pierces/cuts/serrates/impales. Using it on herself will cause her to be replaced by the eruption and reappear 8 meters away in any direction. Low durability

I think the second part - Using it on herself will cause her to be replaced by the eruption and reappear 8 meters away in any direction. - could be added later.

Hex Code: #00ccf
Name: Morgan du Ciel
Gender: M
Age: 18
Personality:
  • + Active: Morgan can usually be seen out and about. Mostly near the training ground practicing, however.
  • + Comrade-in-Arms: Morgan works well in a team, although in the more martial aspects of a team.
  • + Martial: Morgan has a set of expectations, fulfill these expectations and he'll treat you fairly regardless of everything.
  • - Quiet: Morgan tend to keep his actual opinion to himself.
  • - Prejudiced: Morgan would assume the negative of a person from certain groups. At least initially.
  • - Restless: Morgan is unable to sit still in a desk for a long period of time.
Role: Warrior

Weapon: Hand-and-a-half sword with electricity enchantment. Contact with the blade will cause numbness.
Shield?: A round shield. He appreciates the extra protection either way.
Armor Appearance: A cuirass and tasset on top of a hauberk with a mail coif, a pair of vambraces and greaves. Simple in design as he has to change to a new one often. Recently starting to wear his family tabard.
Everyday Appearance:
09059b95079463cbe4e886c271ae4332.jpg

Attacks:
  • Disarm: An attack with the aim of making his opponent drop their weapon, or make the limb useless.
  • Pommel Strike: A strike to the head or stomach using the pommel (or shield) to disorient or knockin the air out of his opponent.
  • Double Slash: Morgan attacks twice in rapid succession. Easier to do if he focus on one target and if he's not carrying his shield.

■■■■■■■■■■ Strength (needed to carry heavy armor and weapons effectively)
■■■■■■■■■■ Perception (How well you notice things, like a sword aiming at your head from behind - sixth sense)
■■■■■■■■■■ Enderance (How well you take a hit and how long you can travel without tiring)
■■■■■■■■■■ Speed (How fast you can get out of the way)
■■■■■■■■■■ Agility (How much fancy foot work you can squeeze in on your getaway, your grace, balance etc.)
■■■■■■■■■■ Intelligence (strategizing mostly)

Biography:
  • Born into the House of Ciel.
  • Raised with the stories of brotherhood of knights from his father and the common banditry from the maids.
  • Tutored to be his father's heir but mostly took into the practical lessons and tend to ran away from the theoretical.
  • Ran into a recruiter for the Order when he's 10.
  • Persuaded his parents although they only reluctantly allowed him to join once he's 11.
  • Took to his new lifestyle with a gusto, even if he's a bit sad over the loss of several perks of living as a noble.

Relationships: (Your characters practically grew up together so chances are they know each other in someway. You don't have to have this filled out to be accepted, but I would like everyone to start plotting basic dynamics.)

Initiation Ceremony
Members of the Pot Watch, as they're commonly called, had their own schedule of whose turn it was to wake the rest of the Disciples while the rest eke out that little bit more sleep. It was not Morgan's turn that day and it was not expected for him to be awake before the others. Yet here he was with the waking Pot Watch as he found himself too excited/anxious about the day to sleep longer. And he had to admit that he might have banged the pot harder than usual.

Morgan reached the Mess Hall with some of his excitement bled over and the somber atmosphere helped in calming him further. He ate his breakfast quickly and then waited impatiently for the moment of truth. For the moment where the Disciples are gathered and the Grand Sorceress and Grand Warrior picked the new Sorceress(es) and Warriors.

The wait was almost painful, but it paid off as his name was called. He marched forward to the sound of his heartbeat. He was a bit disappointed that the armor he received was as plain as the training armor he often wore but the meaning of it was still there, the start of his duty as Warrior as he dreamed. To Fight and Protect.

  • Yes, after a cross intercepts an attack, if the enemy doesn't back away, the cross will strike to push them away and deal some damage.
  • Reasonable. I forget that this will be upgraded as the RP develops.
  • See above.
Thanks for the input, I'll edit accordingly.

W.I.P.

Hex Code: #00FF00 (This is for Green, yes?)

Name: Aurora Kraeriant
Age: 18
Gender: Female

Personality:

- Arrogant: Believes with absolute certainty that she is above the average person, even if she isn't actively attempting to be meaninglessly disrespectful. Her confidence in herself and her supposed higher place in the world and purpose aren't things she's shy to tell about.
- Hard to understand: A mix of strange/old language, weird metaphors, and twisted point of view make it hard for her to get her point across.
- Loner: Doesn't like crowds and even small company is hard for her to manage since she most likely feels detached from those who "aren't like her". Lonely at the top, and what have you

+ Selfless: As taught at home, she doesn't actively seek to benefit herself even if she could. While it's hard for her to tell the others why, and sometimes they may shun her for the way she speaks and treats them, ultimately the burdens she places on herself are so that others don't have to do so.
+ Optimist: Regardless of how bleak or hopeless the situation is (and even when planning for the worst), her spirit and certainty are tied to the better outcome, to what is beneficial to all even if it is unrealistic.
+ Diligent: Is orderly, efficient, meticulous and planning when it comes to the work she must do, from the mundane to the extraordinary.

Role: Sorceress

Destined Object: Chained gauntlet with jewels, criss-crossing along her left arm. It's actually three chains - gold, silver, bronze.
Trinket: A simple green bracelet.
Magic Source: Emerald Frost.

Appearance: Small, sharp nose. Green eyes. Hazel hair, long but always tied in a bun. 161 cm tall. Figure is very curvy. Tan skin.
Everyday Outfit: Dark blue side cape (on the right), sleeveless red turtleneck blouse, white belt, red knee-length skirt, white high-heels (10 cm)
Transformation Outfit: White metal helmet with two green horns protruding towards the back from above the ear level, and a transparent green glass-like visor. Green choker. White form-fitting lycra suit with one long green stripe on the side of each leg, one long green stripe along the front of the upper segment along where a zipper would normally be located, a green stripe along where a belt would be found, going all around. The stripes sometimes glow. White sports shoes. The suit has rugged armored segments on the sides of the torso and the back, the forearms the upper legs.

Power: 4/10
Control: 9/10
Speed: 2/10
Offensive: 2/10
Defensive: 9/10
Healing: 4/10

Moveset:

  1. Name TBA - Creates a smooth, slightly transparent, curved, green ice surface at a distance (range up to 5 meters, surface up to 2 meters in diameter, 5 cm thick). Reflects projectiles, median durability.
  2. Name TBA - Creates three rugged, slightly transparent, green ice crosses that float around Aurora (range up to 3 meter radius around her, crosses are up to 175 cm tall, 30 cm thick). Auto-intercept attacks, extremely high durability. After blocking an attack, if the foe does not retreat, the cross will strike to deal damage and push the foe away from Aurora.
  3. Name TBA - Creates a shimmering, green haze (range up to 7.5 meter radius around her). Non-friendly presences experience reduced visibility, drastically reduced temperature (- 50 Celsius).
  4. Name TBA - Creates a smooth, slightly transparent, curving, green ice sculpture in the shape of a standard humanoid golem (up to 5 meter operational radius around her, golem up to 2 meters tall). Guards an assigned target, engaging any non-friendly presences in combat. High durability.
  5. Name TBA - Creates a jagged, slightly transparent, sharp, green ice eruption from the ground at a distance (range up to 4 meters around her, eruption up to 2 meters high, 2 meters wide). Pierces/cuts/serrates/impales. Low durability.

Biography:
  • Born as only daughter of a pair of Destined with relatively close ties to the crown family.
  • Destined parents retired, raised her to take care of others and lead. Taught her to always be mindful of her work and do it on time.
  • Before she became 13 she fancied herself the new Grand Sorceress and 'ruled' playgrounds, talking weird and thus making it hard to get what she was saying beyond her being at the top. Magical Awareness allowed her to know about her magical ability, she used this to justify her 'ruling'.
  • Her experiences as tyrant made it hard for her to make friends once she became an official Disciple, especially since she refused to let go of her aura of superiority and being above everybody else in spite of now being surrounded by others with magical ability.
  • Teenage years marked by difficulty explaining herself and expressing her feelings properly. Reached a critical point where she was constantly depressed and annoyed at the Masters and her fellow Disciples.
  • Was pulled out of her slump by an older Warrior, her first hard crush (others had come and gone but nothing like that), who showed her to have a positive outlook on things. Tragically he disappeared and has not been heard of since, but following what he taught her, now she awaits convinced that he will return for her (how couldn't he?)

Relationships: ???

Initiation ceremony:

Aurora was not a morning person in the least. She hated those pots even though she knew how necessary they were, and how she should be grateful to the early risers making them sound. It was thanks to them that she always managed to struggle out of bed and do her duties as they had to be done. This day, the anticipation for the coming ceremony was an added boost to her mood. She dressed and styled her hair, thinking how far she had come and how far she still had to go. She thought of those she'd left behind to rise to her status and call, and of those that now stood beside if not with her.
She ate her breakfast as ever, alone with her thoughts. She'd given up on the last ration of porridge, because the one to be served after her clearly needed it more than she did, because even without it Aurora knew she could shine brightly later that day, in the grand hall surrounded by masters and staff. She would be immaculate and presentable for when she stood before the Grand Sorceress and Grand Warrior.
Some time later, when she finally was in that hall, along with the other chosen seven, she could hardly believe it, could hardly stay still. Destiny was calling to her, she was sure. When Grand Sorceress Elenor called her name, Aurora would claim what was hers by right.

Am I to assume your character is finished?
I'd like to write out some basics in the relationships section. I know you said it wasn't necessary to have it filled out, so uh, not sure?

I'm missing attack names and that part, but if it's better to have the character already be registered as finished, feel free.

In my character's biography, there's a perfect opportunity to come up with a relationship with Gareth.
