To the Housha's Defence

A Collab between Jason and Fieryfly

Summary:
After leaving the office of the Amekage, Eiji talks with Ryu about the upcoming battle. When they arrive at the scene, Eiji gives the signal and the attack begins.

[spoili]

The main force was behind Eiji and Ryu as they made their way towards the Housha Compound. It wasn't far so Eiji kept up the speed. If his shinobi couldn't keep up this pace for such a short amount of time then they had some serious reschooling to do. Mitsunari had gone of to the other group to lead them into battle. Eiji had confidence in the man. He was a good fighter and strangely enough despite being rather curt he had the capability to make people listen. Then again, he could have said similar things about Houshi and yet she had still abandoned her post when times got rough. Since everything had happened in such a short period of time, he wasn't sure yet how he felt about that. Houshi and he had worked well together in Ryouku's absence, they had kept Amegakure running despite difficulties. But now she was not here and Mitsunari had taken her place. Eiji didn't have trouble with trusting people, unlike so many others in his field of work. Maybe he just believed he was an excellent judge of character, maybe he was just a naive trusting guy, he didn't know.

He shot a look at Ryu. "Listen up," he said. "When we are there and we join the frey, I want you to stay close, all right? You have yet to experience a battle of this scale and we are not going there for a training. These people will kill you if you don't watch out. They will not show mercy. Neither will we. This will be the time you learn that the job you have chosen is not glamorous. You see a Zealot threatening your fellow shinobi out there, you will have to make sure that that Zealot goes down and does not get up. If you have questions, you have about fifteen minutes."

"They're attacking my home, and people I care about. That I know personally, they aren't getting any mercy." She said in an oddly calm tone. Looking at Naomi for a moment. "Stay close and support me, alright?" She asked the panther, who grumbled in response. "We will save them, right sensei?" She asked, wanting to protect the people she'd come to know through John.

Eiji's brow furrowed at Ryu's calm tone, but he did not comment. This was not the time for extensive lectures or questioning. "We will save those we can." He was not a fan of giving false promises. They were going in with large forces yes, but they were not going to be able to save everyone. By the time they got there some people would already have perished. It might not be a rallying speech, but Eiji preferred the truth when talking to his students as opposed to what he would say to the men and women behind him. "Be on the look out for strange beings like those in the post office. We don't know if they are there, but these are the Zealots."

"What beings at the post office? Are they like the things that were outside the house during the riots?" She asked immediately. Remembering how one had seemed to possess another after she was sure it had died. A slight frown grew on her features at the thought. "I'll stop it too. But I want to save everybody we can. So let's focus on that. What's the plan of attack?" She asked, looking towards Eiji for a moment before turning her attention back towards the front.

Oh, right. In his haste he had forgotten that Ryu hadn't been told fully about the attacks at the post office. "Yeah, like those outside the house," he just summarised not wanting to go into full detail at this moment. "Plan of attack is simple. We come through the front while our Jounin Commander and Miss Arkos lead an army from two different sides. We go in, make sure the Housha are save and that no Zealot escapes. And as I said you stay near me." He wanted to be sure she realised how important that was for him. Not because he didn't have faith that she could handle herself, but he was still her teacher and she was still a Genin. There was a responsibility towards her. And also he figured she was prone to running off to help John and he really couldn't have that in the middle of a battle.

"I can handle myself in a fight sensei, but I understand. Stay close, don't be stupid, right?" She said, wondering what the state of the compound was like. A dark mood entered her mind as they ran, thinking about the terror that these bastards were causing. How she wanted to see them suffer and perish for hurting these innocent people. The Uchiha forced the dark thoughts from her mind, sensei needed her in control right now, and so she would be.

Eiji just gave a curt nod as they continued on. Not long after the group would see the Housha Compound looming up before them. Pillars of smoke rose up in the air. Eiji made a large gesture with his hand and the troups fanned out and stopped. He placed his hand on the intercom and comfirmed with the other leaders that they were in position. When he got conformation that this was indeed the case, he turned to his fellow shinobi.

"All right," he called out. "I don't believe I need to inspire you more to fight against those people that are now destroying the lives of those that belong to our people, the people of Amegakure and the Land of Rain. This is unaccepable and we are here to make things right. No Zealot will leave the Housha Compound unless it is as a dead body or a prisoner of war!"

He turned back and with a tap on his intercom he gave the signal. As one the troops moved forward and not too long after they were suddenly in the middle of a battlefield. The bulk of their force wasn't going for a stealthy approach, leaving that for those more trained and well versed in that area, also to keep the attention away from other people. They announced themselves by arriving at the front gate. And jumping on and over it. Eiji and Ryu were on the front line, though Eiji stayed before the gate instead of jumping over it. Surpringly the thing was still closed. And whole. But not for long. Though a height advantage might be adventagous, and thus going over the walls might be easier, a shattered gate would allow everyone in who was still behind. Also he wanted to make a statement and announce his presence to those who might have missed it thus drawing attention away from other locations that might be attacked at the same moment.

He formed handseals and molded the familiar feeling explosive chakra into the palm of his hand. He shot a look around but people were far enough off. "Here it goes," he muttered as he pushed his palm against the gate, releasing the Exploding Palm technique, blowing the wood out of its hinges.

Zakito Hon
Jounin Commander | Hon Clan Leader | Major General of the First Division | Akinian Empire, Konohagakure - Intelligence Division HQ.

He stared at the young boy. Strapped to a chair, the lavender eyes were shut as drips of blood fell onto the ground. How old was Ezuri again? Zakito wasn't too certain but he couldn't be older than sixteen. Probably never had experienced some of the thrills that young souls sought for. Being intoxicated. Spending the night with somebody you loved or just a night of passion. Yet, this boy had done something else that others could find thrilling but also repulsive. He had sold his loyalty to the Zealots, after apparently resigning from the Imperial Shinobi corps. In particular Team 7, headed by Kensuke Nimatsu.

Seeing that there was no apparent link between Kensuke and the Zealots through Ezuri, Zakito wasn't relieved. They were hunting for scraps of information and the people that aided the Zealots or were part of the strike teams, didn't reveal much these days. If anything, nothing had changed from the start. The Zealots were on the offensive and Akino was on the defensive, unable to really pinpoint an important enough target to cripple the operations of the Zealots. Not the most ideal situation.

The boy grunted softly as the pressure would be applied. An ANBU used a wire technique, chakra faintly visible as it coursed through the metal contraptions around the Hyuuga captive. It was designed to harden the wire, making it most uncomfortable for the boy. Behind the three ANBU operatives, Zakito kept watching. It wasn't clean or nice work but it had to be done.

"How did they contact you?"

The question was asked in a cold fashion by one of the ANBU operatives. Clad in a dark attire, the masked man clearly held no pity for the boy, who cried softly.

"I got approached. T-They just contacted me after I resigned."

It remained quiet for a few seconds. Only for Ezuri to gasp for air as the wire started to tightened even more, after a subtle gesture of the ANBU. Watching the interrogation, Zakito listened to what would be exchanged. Ezuri claimed and stated that they had managed to contact him. Somebody had approached him on the market when he had been on the lookout for a new job. After having enough of being insulted and failing as a shinobi, he wanted to make another difference. Finding a new purpose in life. Yet it wasn't that easy. Wanting little to do with his clan and the overwhelming control that was put on him, Ezuri proceeded to explain that during the power transition of Hideyori Hyuuga and Hiraku Hyuuga, he had been able to get away from his clan and family's supervision. Eventually, being helped to get to Keishi where he indulged into petty crime while also operating as a scout for the Zealots.

Zakito's right eye narrowed by hearing this. He wouldn't say or do anything. There was some understanding for the boy. Perhaps there had been even some pity for the harsh treatment that the ANBU placed upon the boy but that all vanished when Ezuri told them on what he did. And what he asked in return.

"I have seen enough."

The room started to shift as Zakito wasn't anymore in a dim lighted room with dark grey walls. Finding himself once more into the meeting room with various ANBU and members of the Intelligence Division, he released a soft sigh. Pinching his nose bridge with his right hand as closing his right eye, Zakito wondered for a moment how Meisa would handle this. Seeing that Meisa and Hisoka were gone, he had taken up some of their tasks and vocations in order to keep things running smoothly. Something that was really draining both his patience and energy.

"I want an intelligence sweep through the Hyuuga compound. I doubt that there will be much that can be found there but clearly the Zealots made use of our own advances to gain some ground," Zakito instructed, "I want the entire minds of the captives taken to be scanned. They lost their rights and privileges when they sided against us. Make sure that I get all the information within a week."

He was asking for a lot. The captives from various operations and counter-strikes against the Zealots had already gone through intensive interrogations but there were some boundaries with various captives that had Imperial citizenship. Today, however, those rights wouldn't matter. There was the problem that if any anti-imperialistic faction would get hold of that information, they would be dealing with more problems. But Zakito doubted that the Intelligence Division would slip. During all these years that he had been working at the top, he had became quite known and aware of the scary efficiency that the division worked with. The urban legend that once you were taken into the Intelligence Division HQ, you would never get out held a scary splinter of the truth.

No information slipped out without the Intelligence Division wanting it to be slipping out of its thick walls.

The meeting would progress further where Zakito was briefed on several ongoing operations. But all of them were counter-intelligence movements. Attempts to defend strikes or trying to prevent attacks from the Zealots. Which made a lot of sense but Zakito had enough of it.
Ordering various strike teams to be deployed, they had to seek out targets in a more aggressive fashion. It was time to make more of an effort to hunt down the Zealots. Trying to make them on the defensive. Sooner or later the Zealots would have to make a mistake and then the tide would turn. Most of the present leading personnel of the Intelligence Division agreed on it but a few debated against it. They presented their points and had valid arguments, causing the meeting to continue on.

Around a hour later the meeting was concluded. Various parts had been modified but the new large scale operation dubbed as 'Winter Hunters' was going to start.

[ The Central Crossing ]
{ A collab between Sketching, Glitchybugger, Zane, Gerontis and Jason. }
Summary:
The allied forces under the command of Koike Hon, that are to cross over the central point of the river's shallow crossing to launch a raid at the enemy camp. Managing to take out the watchposts at the enemy's side of the river, the allied force at the 'centre position' head into the hell that is known as the camp of the enemy.
[spoili]
The force that had gathered at the center crossing was split in groups. Already various small pockets had crossed the river while the majority seemed to wait and hold their position in the dark together. A combined force of Republican, Imperials and Lightning country forces were under the command of Koike Hon, who seemed to wait for a sign. Eventually, a soft sound resonated through the air. More groups were send to the other riverbank. While there was a number of shinobi from the allied force present, sneaking over the water surface, the majority were soldiers. Interesting enough, the lack of the ability to walk over water didn't seem to prohobit the soldiers from being quite silent. It seemed to last for hours but in reality it took around a hour for the bulk of the force to reach the other riverbank. Small groups would return but not for too long. Various groups were send ahead of the bulk as the command was given to prepare for the first battle. Orders were passed to not attempt any ninjutsu or indulge into explosions, which could attract curiousity as attention from the main camp of the enemy.
The instruction to slowly climb the hill was given. The jingeling of chainmail, creaking of leather straps and such sounds weren't loud that they clouded everybody's mind as it could do in an open battle. Reaching the top, the signal was given to come to a halt. Koike would advance further, being flanked by a few others. Peeking over the hill top he could spot the camp of the enemy just ahead. The distance was around forty meters, if he had to make a quick guess. Not an ideal distance to charge from as it would give vital seconds of time for the enemy to grab a weapon or attempt to alert their main force. A glance from the camp, however, surprised him. The recon reports about the enemy camp that had been done by Saki and few others, that had the ability to scout and view the enemy positions from a safe position, had stated that the enemy seemed careless. Confirming to the information of the Eight Tails jinchuriki. Yet it was quite something else to witness it. Koike saw no discipline. Low ranked soldiers in rugged and poor quality gear were all over the place. Gambling, drinking or just sitting near a tent. Judging from a few faces he could see from his position, the general mood wasn't that great. Most of the present enemies were waiting for the dull watch or night to pass. Now the question was where Torrad and his men were at. The Sarutobi captain and his men were most capable in fighting in these conditions.
Just when Koike wanted to look over his shoulder, he caught movement at the right side of the camp. A soldier that stood guard slowly sinked down to the ground, falling into the snow. A few more started to fall down into the cold white blanket that covered the ground. The soft whistling of the projectiles that were responsible for taking out the watches would come to a short halt. A soft 'hoot hoot' resonated, giving a clear signal. Glancing over his shoulder, Koike would raise the blade in his right hand upwards as he rose up from his crouched stance. "Now!" He said on a somewhat hushed tone. The instruction would be repeated by some but the gesture and movement of the Hon was enough. Many followed Koike in getting up as they would climb over the hill.
Once over the hill, the enemy footsoldiers were being pelted by arrows from various sides. Some enemies had caught on what was going on, but most didn't even have a weapon at the ready. By the time that some were ready for the incoming attack, many of the allied force crashed into the camp. Grunts of pain would mix together with the menacing sound of steel soaring through the night's air, followed with sounds of agony and anger.
Upon the order to move, Niji launched herself into the fray in a rapid sprint, blade drawn as she prepared herself for more of this war. She didn't want to do it, to take lives, but if she could at least spare them the pain of slowly dying she could make herself keep moving, if they didn't suffer in their death then she felt... Better, in a way. Regardless of that she soon reached the enemy and engaged in combat, practised and precise in her attacks she aimed for beheading as she thought it was the least painful way to dispatch them. One slightly more aware soldier, whom had his weapon in his hand and time to react, blocked her attack to some effect and went in for a counter just to receive the sheath of her blade smashing him in the side of the head and staggering him just enough to give her the killing blow, head cleanly severed from his shoulders.
There were more to fight, so she got right back to it and kept her guard as secure as possible in case of any enemies who could fight back, it was pretty much just a field of slaughter out here, it was likely none of the enemies here would even survive the night. But she didn't want to dwell on that thought, that was for later when regret would settle in.
As the arrows flew overhead and the soldiers moved in to attack the unsuspecting enemy, Katsu followed his friend closely. He briefly looked over at Koike as people rushed past them as if to say something. As someone brushed past his shoulder, he moved forward as well. He emerged from the front of the crowd, sliding his sword out of its sheath for a quick slash at the enemy's neck, slicing it half open. Blood gushed out, spraying the side of Katsu's face and clothes, blinding him in one eye for a moment. Another soldier swung down a club, forcing Katsu to parry. He quickly pulled out two knives before the parried sword could hit the ground and planted them in the man's face and neck, throwing them with the flick of a wrist.
Katsu plucked the knives out of the man just as he drew his last breath. His head shot up as he heard rapid footsteps approaching, but luckily someone else took care of him before he could get close. The young nin looked around, searching.
This wasn't even a challenge, as soon as the enemy allowed them to even get this position, it spelled their death. As soon as Koike gave the call to attack, it was clear the enemy had no chance. Arrows were flying in all directions taking down one after the other, then they had to deal with a group of men charging at them unprepared. While a few had a weapon at the ready, most didn't which spelled a rather quick death when they were charged and pelted by arows. It was a fight that was over before it even began, those archers were certainly a scary bunch to pull this off. As Genji charged forth, he saw some kills the others in the group performed. One lady was doing nothing but taking off heads, while this young boy slit a man's throat with his sword and took another out with some knives.
Spotting a man running towards a club in an attempt to try and defend himself, he would allow the man to reach the weapon thinking he had a form of safety. As the man clutched it in his hands, he would see a blade protruding from his chest as Genji had plunged his sword in from behind. Yanking it out in a swift motion, the man would drop to the ground, as another who had a weapon ready ran swinging his own crude looking sword at him. Deflecting the blade rather easily, the man must have expected Genji's sword to kill him instead only to see Genji standing there smiling. The one eyed man would then motion for him to try again, which prompted him to swing the sword a couple of times with Genji dodging out of the way each time, and would once again deflect the last sword swing. Yet instead of being cut down like he expected, he would see Genji stab his sword into the ground and motioned with both his hands for the man to try again. Seeing some clear rage on his face, Genji chuckled as the man did a thrust with his sword which Genji dodged to the right of. This time however he grabbed the man's wrist with the sword in it, and forcibly made the man point the sword at his own stomach. Not allowing the man to let go Genji would have him plunge the sword into his stomach with his own hands, letting go of the man he watched him start to pull the blade out before collapsing on his knees and then his face. Yanking his sword back out of the ground, he would stop playing around and help clear out the rest of the enemy.
As she heard an order being given, Mizuchi launched into the fray. Her weapon already being drawn, she charged in alongside her allies. The first man she met did not put up much of a fight. Having just emerged from his tent, he did not expect to be met with a sword. Mere moments later he was just a corpse on the ground, blood flowing steadily from his neck and into the dirt. Looking up from the corpse, the Hojo almost immdiately spotted her next opponent.
A rather large, bare chested man bearing a club lumbered towards her, and for a second she wondered if he was about to charge. However, any worrys she had a moment ago fell away as she watched how he staggered around. Drunk. A small smirk appeared on her lips as she readied her attack. The man lifted his club to smash directly down, and she surged forward. The man looked down in surprise at the wound in his gut, and fell to his knees while dropping his weapon. Mizuchi quickly followed up by giving a swift slice through his neck. With a small sigh, Mizuchi turned and went to work helping clear out the rest of the area, hoping this would remain in their favor.
The fight was a quickly over as it begun. The present soldiers in the site that was barely a professional camp were overrun. The sound of steel swung through the cold air, groans of pain and anger were soon replaced with soft sound of allied troops finishing off any stranglers or dying foes. As the watchpost would be searched, Koike would clean his blade with a piece of cloth that he had cut from a foe. Much as expected, these enemies were no challenge. But that didn't mean that the task ahead of them was going to be easy. If anything, this was barely the tip of the danger that they would soon descend into. Rallying the force, Koike would organise them into two groups. Captain Torrad Sarutobi would form the scouting vanguard with various of his most skilled men while Koike would lead the rest in tow. The camp that was now void of any life would remain standing, the campfires still showing a soft radiance of light as the allied soldiers and shinobi went once more into the dark of the night.
Moving through the snow, the pace was slow as caution was of paramount importance. Moving through light vegetation such as bushes and tall grass that hadn't yet been burried by the snow the large main camp of the enemy was visible. Many lights indicated the huge amount of campfires and likihood of enemy troops. It was located in a most favourable position with large and steep cliffs at the west, making the camp only approachable from east, north or south. A command was given for a halt and to remain low. Time slowly passed by as the biting cold made the wait only more unnerving. Faint sounds could be detected from the enemy camp, even though a large distance existed between Koike's force and the site. Most of the men remained silent, their weapons drawn and having their attention focused on the dreadful sight of the enemy camp. What seemed to be a dozen of hours was in reality nothing more than just one hour of waiting when few men of Torrad's unit returned to signal that some patrols had been silenced and their task was done.
The command was once more given to move forwards in a slow and calm pace.
The camp had grown silent. The ground was littered with the dead of the enemy, the snow dyed a crimson hue. Katsu sat on the thin snow. His brown hair had gotten traces of red from the blood sprayed onto him from the wounds he'd inflicted. He cleaned his knives and sword's blades on his short cloak's cloth. The blood didn't bother him too much anymore. Once it dried, the nuissance of the wet feeling would go away. He played with the knives between his fingers as they waited for the signal, to move forward. For the entirety of the hour, he leaned back, looking up at the sky to spy a couple of stars between the clouds.
The silence at the desolate camp grew weak as the order to move was given. Katsu remained in his seat for a while as the group mobilized. He got to his feet and walked to the front with rapid steps, keeping Koike in his sights.
Mizuchi moved silently in the aftermath of their massacre, soon enough finding herself nearby some of the others in their group. She looked around for a moment before they would begin to move towards the enemy camp. Nearby she recognized a few from their group again. Genji Hojo, and the girl she'd alongside in the main battle were two she recgonized. As they moved along, she silently wondered how Yumeji's group was faring. Hopefully something similar to how things were going here.
Then came an order to move silently on the enemy camp. Keeping pace with her allies, Mizuchi sent a another silent prayer asking once more for the safety of those she cared about in the coming chaos, and the strength to destroy her enemies.
The attack was over almost as soon as it had begun, the guards wiped out without much trouble and leaving the attackers a moment to recoup as they headed for the main camp now... Niji wasn't quite sure what she was going to do once she got back to the allied camp after this night-time assault, although she was likely to fall asleep from physical and mental fatigue she first had to focus on getting this attack over and done with.
The hour spent waiting for the unit to return from their own task was one spent in silence for the entire team, the silence would've been deafening if not for the faintest of sounds from the camp that told of the continued existence of their enemies. Meanwhile introspection had taken hold of Niji's thoughts, rationalising to herself that she had to do this for the sake of the rest of the cloud, until the order to move was given, wherein she was snapped out of her thoughts and she quietly followed the rest of the group. There was going to be time to think later, once they made it back to the allied camp, right?
The soft sounds of boots moving through the snow, the jingeling of chainmail and soft creaking of leather would resonate as the large armed force moved forwards. Softly the command was passed on from the front of the ranks to the back that they would now attack the main camp. All kind of actions were allowed as the objective was to wreak death and chaos. Though Koike did hope that he didn't need to add that they had to watch out for another. His grip on the handle of his blade tightened as they started to close in the distance. There were a few bodies across their path, crimson red darkening the snow as some even still had a shaft of an arrow stuck in their neck or heads. The handiwork of Torrad and his men, Koike thought to himself. Spending his focus and attention back on the major camp that they were approaching, he would signal that they had to move faster.
The jogging caused the sounds of the troops and few shinobi to become louder. Yet as they started to jog through the snow, there wasn't any sign that the denizens of the camp were aware what was about to happen. Suddenly the pace would be increased without a command given. No shout or warcry would pierce the night or distort the chaotic mix of sounds in the camp. This soon would change as the allied force stormed into the camp. Various men at the outer reaches would be easily run over and taken down. Shouts in foreign tongue rallied some attention as the sound of steel clashing, screams of pain and agony as battlecries pierced through the camp.
Running through, Koike would give a quick swing to a man that just was about to enter a tent. The edge of his blade would slice through the rugged clothing and flesh, the scream of pain followed by a soft cracking sound as the Hon gave another swing. The blade bite deep into the neck, only to be yanked out a second later. Turning Koike would witness how the allied force would charge and overwhelm any enemy on sight. Most of the enemy weren't prepared in the slightest, which was evident by the rapid pace they were cut down. Soon this would be followed as a few shinobi and Guardians would start to light some tents of various sizes on fire. A shout nearby attracted Koike's attention as a man armed with a spear came charging at him. Able to parry the incoming jab, Koike was forced to step backwards. The reach of the polearm gave the advantage to his attacker as Koike's sword didn't have the same reach. Grunting, Koike would once more step aside as he used his weapon to parry a jab. This time he would quickly step forwards and use his free hand to grab the shaft of the spear. In a fluid movement as he twisted his body to properly face his attacker, the sword of Koike would make a quick sweep followed by gurgling sounds as the spearman would fall into the snow, his hands grasping his throat. "Keep the attack going!" He shouted, joing a few others that charged further into the enemy camp.
Further inside, as the enemy soldiers began to move towards the commotion at the edge of the camp, Katsu rose from the ground covered in a dark, flowing cloak that would quickly dissipate as he swung his arms at the unsuspecting men. The four soldiers in his immediate vicinity moved to attack but stumbled back with blood spurting from their necks. Red-stained wires moving along his hands became clear and whizzed around again as the confused men surrounding him tried to adjust to the sudden shift.
Mizuchi slowed to a halt and looked at the three men approaching from different directions, evidently eager for what they figured would be an easy kill. Without so much as a word, Mizuchi's sword suddenly became sheathed in a brilliant flame. Swinging a vicious downward cut before the first man even arrived, and an arc of red chakra slammed into the man moments before he crumpled to the ground with a massive wound and burns along his chest. Spinning on the man to her right, the Hojo suddenly dashed forward and cut the man's stomach open. For a brief moment, a seeming after image of her was left behind. The third man let out a warcry as he suddenly launched into a vicious attack against the Hojo, hellbent on getting revenge for his fallen allies. Suddenly finding herself on the defensive, Mizuchi was focused on keeping her opponent from taking off her face. Something which proved to be alot more difficult than she had anticipated...
Niji hurled herself into the fray just like the rest of the team, sword drawn and ready to claim more lives for the sake of stopping the enemy here and now. There wasn't a single moment where she allowed herself to stop and think as she fought her way through disheveled men as if they were just targets to train with, during her advancing attack she caught sight of the Hojo who was on the back-foot against one of the warriors and she took off without hesitation. Niji's approach towards the battle Mizuchi was stuck in had her flanking the man as she choke-slammed another who was in the way to the ground. If she could do anything about it she wasn't about ready to let an ally she could actively see in trouble fall because of her inaction.
The warrior was too focused on trying to kill Mizuchi for his own good, blind to his surroundings with rage to spot the kunoichi charging up to him and tackling him to the ground. A few seconds of struggling between the two of them later and Niji brought her sword up enough to begin stabbing the life out of him, she didn't count how many times she'd plunged her sword into his torso before he stopped trying to fight her off but she definitely kept going just to be certain. With a fresh coat of red spattering her front she was back up to her feet and quickly engaged in battle once more, sparing a second to look to Mizuchi to make sure she was actually still there before she began clashing blades with the enemies again.
Charging into the main part of their camp was easy, almost too easy. Yet here they were now charging into an unexpecting camp where not even the first few moments caused the enemy to set into a panic until a good number of them were dying and some of their camp being sent up in flames. The time for quiet was out the window, now they wanted the enemy to know they were here, no they needed them to know that because of their carelessness, the enemy that they had fought not so long ago was now striking into the area they considered safety. The enemy running all around was exactly what they wanted, they were so ill prepared that they didn't see such an attack coming and now suffered for it.
As he among many charged into camp, Genji's blade was quick to silence those that weren't prepared. Plunging through the chest of a few, or with a quick slash to their neck caused a few to fall to his blade. Only a few had their weapon but being in a panic caused them to not hold their own very well enabling for Genji to parry them easily enough and show them that panic was a fatal mistake in this situation. So far this was easy and that set the one eyed man off in a bad way, even if this was a surprise they were still outnumbered greatly and this seemed too easy for him to like. All he could do was keep his mind focused on the objective at hand and keep cleaving through witht he rest of his allies while causing as much destruction as he could.
The sounds of steel clashing, people screaming battlecries and agony would be mixed with the morbid scent of ash, fire and blood. Standing still for a moment, Koike observed the scenery in front of him. Allied forces were making short work of any present enemy footsoldiers. Whether they were members of Torrad Sarutobi's company, shooting or hacking down anybody foolish to remain in their sights. The Hon saw how a few Sanosuke charged into a small group of enemies that tried to form a formation with shields and crude weapons. The large axes splintered and hew shields as limbs apart. Taking this all in, Koike narrowed his eyes as he would walk forwards in a calm pace. The chaos around him made it odd to just try to remain collective. But he was expecting some more resistance and thus couldn't shake of the feeling that the enemy within the inner camp were holding back.
Approaching a fight between a few allied soldiers and some enemy footsoldiers, who didn't try to flee from the carnage, Koike would move in. Stabbing a man in the right, Koike's victim would face another stab from a spear. The metal point seemed to puncture with ease through the wool and clothing of the enemy footsoldier. Aiding the fight further, it didn't last long before the allied soldiers dispersed to join their comrades in the slaughter. Feeling a cold passing by, Koike turned his head towards the right. "Fuck," the word escaped Koike's lips as he breathed out. "Quick, move back! Move back! Now!" He ordered, gesturing with his sword for the troops to initiate the second phase of the raid. To fall back, now that the forces of the inner camp were on the march. And with them, 'those dreaded things'. Quickly after the orders of the Hon, horns would resonate and overwhelm most of the chaotic sounds of battle.
A little further into the camp, Katsu flung his wires around to push people back and cut up anyone who got too close. The defenses behind him got weaker and the allied forces managed to spike in. Just as things were taking a turn for the better, he felt a feeling only too familiar. Again!? How many of these things are there? In the moment of hesitation, he noticed someone closing in on him from ahead. Without thinking, he pulled out his sword and slashed at the soldier as the wires retreated into the gear on his wrist. The sword swung at the air, but as Katsu collapsed into the shadows of the ground below and disappeared, the attacker recoiled with a gash in his chest.
Flaming blade in hand, Mizuchi spun and slammed her attack into the stomach of another enemy. Without any hesitation, she continued on her warpath, unleashing another crescent of chakra from her blade to ignite a nearby tent. To her left, she saw a group of enemies surrounding two soldiers. The fought bravely, but were clearly outnumbered. Rushing over, the Hojo came in with an upwards cut along the back of one of the attackers. She slammed the body to the side into the enemy next to it as it crumpled. The man stumbling from the sudden impact, and turning to face the Hojo. Immdiately the Chuunin pressed the attack. A flurry of blows were unleashed as he staggered until one strike left a burning cut carved down his chest. Mizuchi spun back around just in time to catch the slash of another opponent along her arm instead of her back. The adrenaline in her veins kept the pain at bay, and she got ready to attask. Only to watch him fall as the two soldiers she had come to the aid of returned the favor. Nodding towards them, she got ready to continue the rampage, just in time to feel that cold sensation.
It was enough to yank her right of the previous mindset. Caught off guard and unnerved by the appearance of another one of those things, the flame wreathing her blade was suddenly extinguished as she lost concentration. Looking around she heard the horns, and the calls for retreat. The chaos all around, and the bodies on the ground. It all suddenly dawning on her now that she'd been yanked back to reality. Looking towards the other two soldiers, she spoke quickly. "I'm going to see if I can help some others get back. Join me or don't, I don't care." She said, turning and heading towards the nearest allies. Intent on making sure nobody else had to face those things again.
Not being the one to cause property damage, he stuck more so to taking the lives of any enemy not paying attention and some of those that tried to claim his. Overall they were dealing some hefty damage he felt, no real opposition, the enemy were falling one after the other, their camp was turning into an inferno. Two men came running out him yet with a quick draw from one of his sheatehd katana's and a thrust from the one already drawn, one man would find himself impaled while the other dropped to the ground as blood poured from the right side of his body. Pushing the one off his sword with his foot, a sudden chill would hit him causing him to freeze up in fright. He had heard that they had some freakish people on their side but was this what they considered freakish?
The chilling presence was almost enough to keep him locked in place, but he managed to hear Koike shout out to fall back meaning phase two was now in effect. Forcing himself to move, he had a choice to retreat now or stay near the back. On normal circumstances he would have stayed near the back, but considering what he heard well would anyone blame him for not holding the rear? Taking off with the others that were now in retreat, he could only hope that the plan kept going as planned.
Niji had continued fighting for goodness knows how long now, she just kept going so she wouldn't have to stop and think about just what she'd done, that could be done later. Hesitation began to settle in as that cold wave rushed over her and likewise the other soldiers and shinobi in the area, before she could begin telling those nearby to fall back she heard the Akinian leader giving the order already.
Through the entirety of this battle, Niji distinctly kept in mind that she'd volunteered to stay behind and let everyone else retreat once the main force came out of it's camp so she advanced towards Koike and Katsu, joining them at the front of the fight and ready to meet the... things in combat, bloodied but clearly able to continue fighting. "Present and ready to hold them off."

Mizuchi Hojo | Team 3 Chuunin | Wolf Country, Enemy Camp

As another enemy fell, Mizuchi turned to look for any more allies in need of help. She had stayed behind at the order to retreat, deciding to help others get out of this place in one piece. Now? She was hoping to head back herself soon enough. Running between skirmishes and constant fighting seemed to be bearing down on her. However, the Chuunin thought she still had work to do. She cast a look over her shoulder, seeing that none of the shoulders she'd helped earlier decided to stay. She simply hoped they made it back, would've been a true shame for them to fall to the few enemies fighting back. As she let out a long sigh and turned to head away, a small twitch caught her gaze. Spinning towards the movement, her storm-grey eyes slowly scanning the bodies and debris all around her. Nothing moved. Just her nerves then, no doubt. Moving on from the area, Mizuchi quickly saw her next target.

What seemed to be a group of three men surrounded by the enemy. The scene was absolute chaos, as two factions of the enemy, group seemed to be fighting each other while both tried to attack her allies. No time to think about that now. Rushing in, Mizuchi's sword once again became wreathed in flame. A brilliant flash of the flaming blade lit the night, as an opponent fell with a gaping, charred, wound on his side. Without missing a beat the girl descended into the group like a demon setting onto its prey. The next moments were a blur of flame, steel, and blood. Men fell to her vicious attack, others seemed to simply collapse as they were downed by another. Then quick as it all had begun, a certain stillness set in as the last of the enemy fell. Turning towards her three allies, their weapons glistening crimson as they stood among their own piles of bodies, Mizuchi nodded in acknowledgment. Various cuts and wounds adorned each of the men, trophies from the melee of mere moments ago. As she was about to speak, Mizuchi became aware of something warm running slowly down her side. Pressing a hand to her side, her eyes went a bit wide at the sight of glistening crimson on her fingers. Though she was able to deduce that the wound wasn't life-threatening, it made the chuunin miss her armor.

She was torn from her thoughts as one of the men fell to a knee suddenly, and she noticed the blood trickling down his body. "We need to get him back." She said to the men as they were already helping the other up. "Aye, ya don't say?" One of them snapped as they started to move, and Mizuchi went alongside them. As they started to head out of camp, the girl just barely caught what the one closest to her grumbled. "Lass fought like a fuckin' demon" to the one he was carrying, who gave a slight laugh in response. They didn't make it very far before Mizuchi heard something from behind. Turning, she noticed a group of armored figures starting to give chase from the east. "Shit! We've got company, get moving and I'll stall them!" She said firmly to the soldiers, who didn't argue for a moment as they picked up the pace. Turning to face these new arrivals, Mizuchi made a single handsign as they approached. Immediately a wall of flame sprang to life between them, the quickly curved around the to encircle them. Dropping the handsign, Mizuchi figured that should hold them for long enough. Turning away, she ran towards the group she had sent on earlier. The soldier on the right had started to stumble, whether from fatigue or wounds Mizuchi couldn't tell. Still, as she caught up the girl stepped in to support him and help him stand. "It won't hold them forever, get moving!" She growled towards them, even as they all started to pick up the pace just a little bit more.

After what seemed like an eternity, filled with dread that the enemy from earlier was about to catch them, Mizuchi spotted the allied forces defending the central crossing of the river. With a slight smile on her lips, she looked towards the others. "Almost there, we got this." She said, and the trio nodded back. Not long after they crossed the river into more friendly territory, and the girl let out a light sigh. They kept pushing on, eventually making it back to the allied camps where they were set upon by the medics looking for the wounded. As Mizuchi was being escorted towards one of the stations the medics had set up, they were stopped by the least injured of the soldiers she had helped. "Make sure you take care of our demon there, me and the boys wouldn't have made it back without her." He said first towards the medic, then towards Mizuchi he said, "Thank ya for the assist, lass." before heading off to check on his friends. Meanwhile, Mizuchi took the chance to finally sit down as the medic set about dealing with the various injuries she had gotten during the raid. Letting out a small sigh, the girl only now felt she could breathe once again. Yet only one thought crossed her mind.

Did that guy really just call me a demon.

Suzu leaned against the stone wall that kept absent minded passersby from toppling over the edge of the bridge and into the river below. She watched as below a small merchant boat stacked high with goods floated silently out from under the bridge, the man below her standing at the back of the boat pushed his reach pole down into the dark waters and slowly moved himself along to wherever he was going. She turned her head to the side and took in the woman she had been assigned to undertake the missions with. She was just slightly shorter than Suzu, with hair far longer, and by the look on her face she seemed just as uninterested in the city as Suzu was.

"Any idea where we start here Panther? I've never been to Hanaguro before, although if what I've heard is correct the Pink or Nish districts are our best bets here." she asked the woman at her side before she placed her head on her forearms and continued to watch out along the river below.

Last time Ino had been to Hanaguro, she had a bunch of lowlifes that kept throwing threats should she ever come back. That was seven years ago, and she was also wanted by many people. She still is wanted, but everyone believes her to be dead, maybe the lowlifes thought so too.

As she moved a bit of the recently coloured dark brown hair from to behind her left ear, Ino listened to Suzu's question "Both can serve as good starts. The difference is that in Pink, people prefer to keep things more quiet but more easily persuaded for money. Nish required more brute force to get information last time I was here." Came the response in a rather bored manner "I might know the names of a couple of people who are very well versed in what goes on in Nish, however they are also likely to rat out whoever approaches them." She added as she glanced in Suzu's direction.

Suzu glanced at Ino as she spoke, 'So she'd been to Hanaguro before…. And by the sound of it while she was still a Missing Nin.. Suzu thought to herself before she looked across the bridge toward the area of the city that held the Nish District, "I'll be honest, the Nish DIstrict is probably the better source. I don't tend to trust anyone who can be bought for information, you can never know if you're paying them enough." she paused and rose up from the wall of the bridge, "But someone can be easily coerced with violence, and if I'm understanding correctly they don't need to be breathing when we're done."

Suzu took a step back and pointed a thumb toward the Nish District, "I'd rather the ones we speak to never speak again." she said with a small smile before waiting for Ino's input.

That's right, money can lead to unreliable results. It seemed like Rabbit was the one to prefer kicking one to the grave after getting what they needed than leave any sort of risk. While she left people alive to maintain a reputation in the past, she understood this could also play for her own advantage "Very well. Lets go approach the first snitch. He's a lowlife rat going by the name Wing, but his real name is Leke Desai." Getting up from leaning on the bridge wall, she began to walk slowly in the direction of Nish, not waiting to see if Suzu followed.

Following close on Ino's left, Suzu continued to watch the people around them as they walked and talked, "Anything I should know about the Nish District or this Leke in particular?" she asked as they went along, "I can handle myself but knowledge before stepping into something is always welcome, it increases our chances." she asked, trying not to overstep Ino's boundaries. The woman for sure had things she'd rather keep to herself, being that she was legally a dead person, but Suzu was sure that she would deftly dance around anything related to herself and her past and give her anything she needed to know for the sake of what they were doing.

And now Suzu was fishing for more information. While she understood she hadn't been there before, it didn't mean Rabbit shouldn't have done any bit of homework on where they were going "I can't tell you much on Nish aside from its reputation. We're bound to get stares, looks and stalkers, but the attacks and thefts themselves mostly occur at night. As for Leke, he is a lowlife rat who tries to stay on the good side of everyone by trading every piece of information he can get. It is possible that we won't find him by now and instead learn he is 6 feet under." Ino answered in a rather bored manner.

]She'd seen through her questions as expected, they did after all do the same job for the Empire, it was only expected that Ino would catch on immediately, "Sounds easy enough, stalkers are nothing we can't handle on our own I imagine." she paused her words as they walked, "I can only guess that if Leke is dead, that there are plenty more like him in Nish. It shouldn't be hard to get information even if you don't have… A working relationship with the provider already." Suzu continued walking along, her eyes glancing over the people they passed as they went.

Slowly the surroundings had become more drab, the streets a bit less clean, and the people a little fewer. The kind of atmosphere she'd expect as they neared a place as renowned for it's niche culture as Nish was.

As they entered Nish, the feeling the place had given her immediately made Ino recall exactly where everything is. The old rathide she used when she was staying in there, the hideouts of three small time gangs and the locations of numerous attempts at picking her pocket which always ended badly for those who tried. Walking a bit further ahead in the street, she would take a right into an alley that had a rather short way before a dead end. She raised a hand for Suzu, motioning for her to wait as she approached a couple of pipes that went down from the roof of a building "Patrol will pass us in 3, 2." She said and waited. As a patrol that walked behind passed by, Ino counted in silence five more seconds before beginning to knock in a rather specific manner on the two pipes.

Less than a minute would pass and a man suddenly jumped out of a window of a building across and slid down the pipes. Before he could reach the ground, Ino turned her back towards him and motioned to Suzu to talk first.

Leke looked at the two ladies in front of him and spat on the ground "Dat tap wasn't used in 'ears. If yer an ol customer, learn the new tap and come back then." He said, hand still on the pipe, indicating he was preparing to leave within seconds.

Suzu had asked no questions as Ino instructed her to wait in the alleyway and seemed to know that a patrol was about to pass, and was a little interested in what Ino was doing knocking against the pipes of the building she was next to. They stood in silence as Suzu scanned the alley, there was trash piled just about chest high on one side of her, and some rather unkempt buildings all around, and then there was an odd noise. From above came a small man, thin and short, far shorter than both of them, and with a mouth on him too.

Ino turned to Suzu as soon as the man appeared, an obvious sign that the woman was not interested in talking with the rat. He began to sneer at them both about knowing the new combination and seemed about ready to leave when Suzu stepped past Ino and reached out to grab his arm and keep him at street level.

"You answered it though. Didn't you?" she asked nonchalantly before pulling the man off the pipe he was holding onto and tossing him into a pile of trash to her left, "I'm not interested in finding out a new password. I'm interested in you answering my questions. Quicker you answer," she looked around the alley, "Quicker we let you go." Suzu said as she leaned in toward the rat of a man in front of her.

Leke couldn't care less what was being said before he got thrown into a pile of trash. Quite the power on the lady that was speaking to him "Only reason I answered was cause the last person who used dat tap was a long gone lady who I owe a good beatin. She left me at de 'ercy of the zilver dragons! If yous lookin for 'er, then too late. And I aint scared of rough time, after what they did." The rat answered before hitting the back of his head with his right hand, the force sending what was apparently a plastic eye out of the right eye socket.

While still with her back to them, Ino took in what he was saying. The Silver Dragons gang let him go. Must mean he gave them something good in return, considering how much they wanted him dead. She wanted to let Rabbit take care of it all by herself, but if he started to take his time, then she'll know what she needs to do.

She wasn't expecting that the Rat would be so okay with being roughed up, so okay with it that he even seemed to invite her to do it to him. She was listening along when Leke hit the back of his head. She felt a jolt of lightning running through her as the mans eye fell out in front of her, a small smile growing at the edges of her lips as he seemed to insinuate that anything they would do couldn't possibly live up to that of these Silver Dragons.

Suzu placed her right leg in the trash and leaned into the man, invading what little personal space a lowlife such as this had completely. With her left hand she grabbed his dirty hair and tilted his head up toward the light, her eyes staring intently at the hole in the mans face where there was once an eye. With her other hand she snaked it up the side of his face and slipped her thumb into the socket, "If only i could have been there." she said, almost coming off as remorseful had it not been for the smile now evident on her face, "I hear they call you Wing or something like that, and you have information about anything and everything." she pressed her thumb into the back of the man's eye socket. In her hands Leke squirmed and hisssed, beads of sweat forming on his forehead as he writhed in pain but kept respectably quiet.

She pulled her thumb from the mans face, blood covering her nail and the tip of it which she wiped across Lekes own cheek before she huffed and placed it back into his eye socket, "Now don't play a fool, I'd love to remove that other eye if I get the chance." she said as she pressed her nail into the scar tissue at the back of Lekes eye socket, he squirmed again and huffed and puffed as she did, "I'm looking for some friends, Zealots to be more precise, we got separated on the way here and I was told you'd probably know something about where we can meet back up. I really miss them you know?" she asked as she pulled her nail off the scar tissue at the back of the hole in his face.

Leke kept huffing and puffing even after she pulled out her thumb, clearly disturbed by this act, but also furious at these women, even though one hadn't said a single word. Staring down Suzu with his left eye, he took another moment before spitting right at her face "De zealots and ye can go both straight to the 'ell you came from." He said.

As Ino kept listening carefully, she understood from the response they must've approached him. Deciding to act up, she spoke up, still with her back to the other two "He's stalling to let his back up arrive." Ino stated. Leke immediately turned to look in Ino's direction, throwing a couple of curse words towards her.

Suzu wiped the spit from her face as Leke seemed to refuse to answer her question, a bold, but stupid decision. She tuned to Ino as she spoke, "Understood. Would your friends mind losing their eyes as well?" she asked curiously as Leke turned his head to look back at her, his eye darting from her face to her hands as her left once again grasped his hair and held his head steady. With her right hand she shoved a mouthful of garbage into Leke's mouth and pressed his jaw shut with her knee before plunging her fingernails into her his still good eye.

The muffled screams of pain from Leke were audible, but nothing that would be heard over the low rumble of the streets of the Nish District. Suzu was smiling wide from ear to ear as she pulled the Rats eye from his socket with a wet pop, the mans hands grasping at her forearms wildly as she did. She stared at the nerve that connected his eye to his brain and wondered if he was still able to see from the eye now held firmly between her thumb and pointer finger. "Can you see me?" she asked as she turned the mans eye to her face. Not waiting for an answer she dropped the eye, letting it fall against his cheek still held in place by the bundle of nerves as she pulled a kunai from behind her, with a quick slice the eyeball fell to the ground and rolled off before being quickly snatched up by Suzu. "Look I can't lie, that was going to happen no matter what you did… Probably. But anyway, can you let me know where my Zealot friends are?" she asked again. She tilted her head as Leke seemed to say something that she couldn't understand before realizing that her knee was still holding his mouth shut. She pulled her knee away and grabbed him by his collar before tossing him to the ground, where he promplty began spitting out the trash in his mouth and clutching at his eye socket.

As Ino heard the slice of the kunai, she turned and watched the eye drop to the ground. It was a very nasty way of interrogation, but nothing she haven't seen people. The people who did this with ease were more known to be somewhat psychotic to some degree, but if Rabbit was deemed worthy of serving as a Sworn Sword, then that's all that mattered. After Leke was slammed against the ground and let free from Suzu's grasp, Ino moved to kneel next to him. Before taking her approach, she turned to Suzu "Rabbit, I'm sure our guests should be arriving soon, if you wouldn't mind keeping them company once they do." She said before leaning towards Leke's ears.

The squirming man, who was now completely blind, kept feeling he wanted to spit at the woman for this, curse her in every language that exists, turn her to every gang in town and then also torture her himself before giving her the sweet satisfaction of not being able to speak, smell or hear for the rest of her life. However, something he did not expect came instead.

"Hello Wing. This feels familiar. You're blinded, on the ground, and I'm telling you that no matter what you do, you're not getting out of this in one piece. Last time, I was hoping the Silver Dragons would end you, but I guess they just didn't have the guts, considering I heard two years later you were still alive from a contact."

The whispering voice of Ino made Leke freeze and lose any remaining colour he had in his bloody face. It was the voice that he helped for a few years, until the voice's owner betrayed him as a get out of town card. A voice that was supposed to have died over a year ago. Did that mean he died? No, he could still smell the nasty garbage that was in his mouth moments ago. Not to mention taste it.

"This time, you are going to tell me everything I want. No dragging into dumb deals, no assassinations just because I owe you. Now, what do you know about the Zealots? The quicker you spill it, the less painful death will be for you, and you know I can make a person beg for death's embrace for weeks." Ino kept speaking, her mouth very close to his right ear as she was also holding a kunai, prepared to begin further torture should Leke prove to still not be cooperative. But from what she knew, fear was an incredibly effective tool.

Suzu simply smiled at Ino as she told her to watch out for Leke's backup before she went to talk to the now fully blind rat. As she waited for the backup Ino had insisted would show up she stared at the eye in between her thumb and forefinger. It glistened in the light of the alley as she turned it from side to side, studying the iris and color it held within before being interrupted by sounds from above.

There was the sound of footsteps and splashing on the rooftop as the rats backup seemed to make their way toward them before suddenly a man burst over the edge of the building and caught a pipe on the building opposite him in order to slide down to the alleyway, he landed with a thud a few meters in front of Suzu. Not a moment later another man shot across the rooftops and snatched a large pipe to slide down, this one behind Suzu by only two meters. The man behind Suzu instantly lashed out with the sword that had been sheathed at his waist, pulling it out in one fluid motion in an attempt to catch Suzu by surprise, she thought on how the tactic could have worked had they timed it a bit better before she ducked beneath the strike that was aimed for her head and quickly stood, shooting a hand up to catch the man's sword wielding arm as it was crossed over his chest. She smiled at the man before he began to yell for the man behind him, cursing as Suzu pushed him forward to try and gain some distance between them and his back up.

"Let go a him!" the second man yelled as Suzu heard chains dropping to the ground. She turned her head to look back at the source of the noise, the second man seemed to have a large hook attached to a chain that had until recently been wrapped around himself. She smiled before suddenly feeling a fist against the side of her head. The original man had finally seemed to have remembered that he had in fact two hands and used the one that Suzu wasn't currently restraining.

With a puff of air Suzu turned her face back to the original man, seemingly unaffected by the punch before she raised the eyeball in her left hand up so he could see it, "Would you like it back?" she asked before shoving it into the mans agape mouth. Her second hand now free she grabbed the kunai in her belt and plunged it into the man's stomach repeatedly, blood rushing forth over her own stomach and pants as she did

Behind her the chain rung out as it struck the ground once more, knowing what that likely entailed Suzu spun around, being sure to bring the first man with her. She was able to witness the hook and chain soar across the alleyway and embed itself violently in the first mans shoulder, a spray of blood accompanying the impact and splashing across her face. As the first man screamed Suzu let him go and jumped back to wipe her eyes free of the blood.

As the fight between Rabbit and the backup begun, Ino made sure to keep Leke's free ear closed by pushing his head to the side, so it was against the ground and keeping her mouth right next to the still revealed ear "Silence isn't fitting you, and you know it." She said as she brought the kunai in her hand to Leke's right hand and begun slowly piercing the spot between the thumb and the index finger.

The shock from the voice quickly went away as the pain of the kunai piercing and then hitting the nerves struck him, and he made an attempt to move his hand away, but Ino kept it still by pressing her knee on it, somewhat gently "Resist more and your bones will slowly be crushed by my weight, until you cannot resist anymore." She whispered, and after a few more moments of attempts, the movements stopped "Ye bloody bitch, yer worse than the damned oppressors and these zealots. I should've never worked with ye." He started whispering while also spitting blood rather wildly around.

Even though some blood hit her face, Ino kept going "I know you don't want to work with me any more. Just tell me about the zealots and we're done for good." She said as she slowly pierced the kunai further in. Leke squirmed some more from the increasing pain as Ino could also feel the blood that came out of the fresh wound she caused him flow over the kunai and onto her hand. The man let out a rather decent number of curses before he went quiet again.

"YOU FUCKING IDIOT WHY DID YOU GET IN THE WAY?" the second man yelled as he ran up to his buddy, now laying on the ground with a hook in his shoulder and a large amount of stab wounds leaking blood from his abdomen. He seemed to check over his friend for a moment before sighing to himself and turning to Suzu witha cold determination on his face, "You killed my brother." he said plainly before he tore the hook from the dead mans shoulder, taking with it a large portion of the dead man's arm which promptly fell from the hook. Suzu felt another jolt of electricity run through her as her heart began to race at the sight of the man mutilating his brothers corpse so easily. SHe began to breath slightly faster as she smiled to the remaining brother.

"I was pretty sure you killed your brother, but I guess you're correct it was my stabbing him that took his life." she said before dashing forward, the man only a few meters away. He dragged the chain from behind him, bringing his arm up in a an uppercut motion and swinging the hook out from behind him. Suzu dodged the hook cleanly by stepping only slightly to the side, "Your attacks are too telegraphed it's easy!" she yelled as she fell to the ground and slid past the man, her kunai cutting the back of his ankle as she did.

The brother screamed in pain as his achilles tendon was severed and snapped back up his leg, causing him to lose control ad fall to the ground. Suzu stood up, now behind the man and grabbed his hair pulling his head up so he could look at her. "I had an idea, stay still." she said quietly before plunging her kunai behind the man's eye and deep into his skull. He gurgled for a moment, tried to reach behind himself to grab her, and then all at once stopped as Suzu turned the kunai and pushed it just a few millimeters deeper.

"All done here." she said calmly back to Ino, a pair of fresh eyes dangling from their nerve endings in between Suzu's finger tips.

Almost a minute of silence passed before Leke spoke up again "De bastards approached me. Wanted to use me for intel. I told em to fuck off and they seemingly did. Don' know if they stuck or not." He said in a rather quiet voice "Now just get gone and let this rat die in peace." He asked, but quickly he would feel his bloody hand being turned on its back and more pain coming as something was carved into his flesh "If only I could. Time for you to fly to hell, Wing."

After those words, the kunai would quickly cut the neck of the man and then wedged deeply in several crude movements, made to appear as if a much rougher weapon was used. Getting up, Ino nodded at Rabbit's remark "Take a look of what I carved into his hand and do the same to the other two bodies. It's the signature of the Silver dragons, who had bad blood with him for years. No one would ask twice." She said as she turned to give her the same bored look as before, though this time it had a hint of coldness.

She nodded toward Ino before dropping the eyes to the ground and moving back to the two dead brothers. Quickly and quietly she carved the mark from Leke's hand into the hands of both the men and stood, admired her craftsmanship and turned back to Ino. "He'd been contacted and they never came back, which means that someone else here decided to work with them after he turned them down. Any ideas where to next?" she asked as she surveyed her blood soaked clothing, "Also any idea how to not get noticed like this?" she asked as she motioned to herself.

Looking at her own clothes as Suzu asked her questions, Ino thought about it briefly "I have an idea on who to approach next. As for the clothes, Keep em on you for a tad longer. We can't just dump our clothes here, nor burn them here. We need to get to a temporary shelter first." She said as she motioned to Rabbit to follow her before climbing one of the pipes and then hopping from it to the other side of the alley's dead end. Quickly after landing on the other side, She would approach a closed window of a ground floor apartment and force it open.

Upon entering through the window, it was clear the apartment belonged to a poor family, or perhaps a poor couple. It severely lacked in furniture, with some clothes just laying on the floor and some mice running around "See if you can find something that fits you. It would help us blend in if we look like we belong. Afterwards we will find somewhere to dispose of our clothes." She whispered to Rabbit as she kneeled down, examining the clothes that were on the floor while also listening in for anything that may come their way.

Suzu nodded to Ino and followed her up the pipe and across the alleyway. They dipped into a random window and found themselves in a rather barebones apartment, not exactly unexpected for the district, but there were enough clothes strewn across the floor that they'd at least be able to change from their current attire. Without saying a word Suzu followed Ino's advice and began to sift through the clothes, looking for somehting that'd fit at least slightly well. She settled on a pair of torn pants and a heavy coat that would do well to cover her blood soaked shirt.

Slipping the clothes on she couldn't help but notice the strong smell they had but brushed it to the back of her mind as she wrapped her bloodied clothes in another dirty jacekt. She moved back to the window they had slipped in through, "Lead the way Panther." she said, indicating she was ready to continue moving.

After finding a shirt that was a size bigger than her and pants that fit okay, Ino quickly switched into them and then grabbed some paper pieces that were laying around and wrapped her bloody clothes around those "Small enough to be a dead cat." She said "And dead animals oughta be buried, or burned. Come." She added before heading out.[/spoili]

Served in Konohagakure Team 2 of Kanajiro Hanamoto. During this early period of Strife's carreer, she showed remarkable skill on working alone. Cold and calculated, she was recruited into the ANBU after the collapse of Team Kanajiro. In the ANBU she continued to work more on her own but eventually got assigned as supporting member for Team 4 of Kensuke Nimatsu. After the latter's promotion and assignment of becoming Team 7's leader, Strife continued to work for one mission with Team 4 as the leading figure. Publicly, this mission ended in the death of the team but all members were recruited into the Ghost ANBU.

It had been quite a fast trip. To say that it had gone without any problems would not be entirely accurate. From Konohagakure to Shimoda wasn't an easy road. The first start was relatively smooth. The landscape would shift from hills to more rougher terrain as the team would eventually start crossing through the clan lands of the Hon. The most direct route was to travel straight through the clan lands of the Hon. More specifically, that of the Hon Houses of Magnhild and Rawon. Not that it would mean any obstruction but the rough terrain and less pleasant weather were certainly not appreciated by the team.

After two weeks and a few days of travelling, the team crossed the perimeter of Shimoda. By the standards of other provincial capitals of the Empire, Shimoda could be counted as one of the smallest. Even with a long history and events that both were positive and negative, Shimoda wasn't a city blessed with a large population. Settled next to a river that led straight to Harran Bay, the soil was fertile. Sparking thus no surprise from the Ghost ANBU team to see many farms and agricultural activities the rural area surrounding the city.

As the team continued to close in the distance to the city, they would spot the tall and stout walls, towers and defences of the city. Being in such close proximity to the Hon clan lands, the history of those stubborn defences probably had proven their worth in order to not see the city being sacked and ravaged by their neighbours.
"The briefing detailed that we will come into contact with our informant in front of the southern approach of the main square," Marker stated. The oldest member of the team and perhaps even of the entire Ghost ANBU spoke with a deep masculine voice. Much like the rest of the current team, he wore simple clothing and nothing that betrayed his true occupation.

"What was it called? Grey Guard, right? Never heard of that organisation before," Rookie mumbled. The young man had his thumbs hooked behind his belt while he walked, a frown growing on his brow. "How good is an organisation that is never heard of? We probably shouldn't rely too much on them." A scoff followed his statement, only displaying the arrogance that was perhaps not quaint to some youth that had managed to rise quickly through ranks.

"Can we then also state that ours is one that shouldn't be relied upon?" The friendly feminine voice belonged to a rather tall girl, who flashed a smile towards Rookie. "I am sure that people might frown when they will hear the name of the division we belong to, don't you agree?"

Rookie frowned even more as he shot Phoenix a look. His lips parted, already an argument on the tip of his tongue but at the last moment, he opted to remain silent. "It is a shame that none of us is capable of using or understanding Chonobi. I would love to learn more about these, Grey Guards." Phoenix stated.

Strife remained silent as she kept walking in front. She had her own thoughts and assumptions on the Grey Guard but decided to not voice them. If anything, she had been slightly surprised that she wasn't alone on an operation anymore. But she didn't mind working with the likes of Phoenix. Yet Strife couldn't shake off the odd feeling of familiarity. She had even some trouble to not call Phoenix by Tsubasa, her real name. The latter, however, seemed completely fine and serene with her role. "When we meet them, remember what we have been told. They think we are regular ANBU. No need to break the illusion."

"Understood ma'am."
"Yes, roger."
"Mmhmm."

The four kept walking at a normal pace over the paved road towards the city. Due to the early hour, there wasn't anybody else present on the road. A light fog hangs low over the land and created a mysterious scenery. Rookie was the one who disturbed the silence as he thought out loud. "Why would the Grey Guard actually be operating in the Hotspring province? It isn't exactly their region, is it?"
Phoenix was the first to react as she shrugged lightly with her shoulders. "Perhaps the Hons don't like being surprised and keep a watch on the land surrounding theirs, regardless of who it belongs to?"

"It likely is. Probably also has some influence with the fact that the Hotspring region has some historical relation to the Hon clan. There is still some clear Chonobi remains of culture and manners in the Hotspring province. Wouldn't surprise me if the higher authority in this province is well aware and perhaps even supporting the presence of Hon operatives." Marker replied, shooting a look over his shoulder at Rookie. "Besides that, we shouldn't question too much of their presence. If they were an opposition then we wouldn't have a meeting with one of them in the first place."

"Huh, true. I just find it odd that we are going to rely on an organisation that isn't tied to the Imperial shinobi corps, you know?" Rookie said as he shot a look at Strife's back. "What do you think ma'am?"

Strife briefly threw a look over her shoulder before looking back at the front. "I think that we shouldn't question their presence. If anything, it would be way stranger if there was a major clan that didn't have their own shinobi like force. In the end, the Grey Guard is a part of the Hon clan. And the Hons are loyal to the crown. Not much different from us."

Entering Shimoda, the four operatives would be greeted with a warm atmosphere. Even though it couldn't be later than 11 AM, there were enough stands, shops and establishments open for business. The city's architecture wasn't that bright. The grey stones combined with the dark wood and roof tiles gave a sombre appearance. Yet this was neutralised with a few bands of musicians that played at various corners of the street while some heralds tried to reach over the urban ambient sounds.

"You guys are in charge to look for some accommodation that we will be using this evening. We," Strife threw a look at Phoenix, "Will be going to meet up with the informant. We will gather up at this spot in a few hours."

The others nodded to gesture that they understood the orders. As the small group split up, Phoenix placed her hands at the back of her head. "Doesn't seem to be a bad city, huh?" She said, throwing a casual look around. Strife nodded subtly. "Though, I do find the imperial capital to be ... festive."

"Perhaps we just need to find a spot here that is more colourful?" Strife brought up, an amused expression flowing over her features. The reply caused Phoenix to frown for a moment but then she snickered. "Probably might be where our 'friends' will be hiding, huh?"

The two would head towards the meeting point. Approaching the main square from the south, the two had some view on the large square. It was in front of the governor's palace and probably served as the place for important events or announcements.

"Hm, so we are this point. I suppose that using your 'sense' wouldn't flush out our contact?" Strife asked in a hushed voice, as she subtly looked around. There was no individual that seemed to be standing out from the crowd that bypassed them. Phoenix shook her head lightly. "No. And I prefer not to use any abilities unless it is really required." She replied back in a hushed voice.

Then somebody piqued Strife's curiosity. It was a man garbed in a dark grey cloak. The hood was down as the weather wasn't dreadful, just an ominous dark blanket of clouds hiding the blue sky and sun. The man couldn't be older than perhaps thirty but it was rather hard to gain a good estimation on his age other than the rather handsome features.
The cloaked man seemed to walk straight towards them as if he knew who they were.
"I always had a weakness for stubble beards," was what Strife could hear Phoenix mutter softly.

Once the man had closed in some distance, he subtly beckoned Strife and Phoenix to follow him. "Who knows? Maybe he is still single?"
"We both know that the dead can only dream. And nothing more."

[fieldbox="The Green Jewel of the Rivers - Team 7, green"]

Empire of Akino.

Hanaguro - River Province's capital.

A collab between Nim, Glitchybugger, Roran Hawkins and Gerontis.

Team 7 sets up a plan of operations after finishing up their initial talks with their employer's men. Kensuke leaves the palace to contact team 4 while Kyoi and Karma commence guarding Lady Haruka.

Waiting outside Hallbjörn's room, right in front of Haruka's chambers was odd. The heavily-armed guards stood like statues before the lady's quarters and clearly were no partners for some easy conversation. Safe to say that with the young messenger and interpreter gone, it wasn't just odd, it was downright awkward. A smile crept on his lips as he considered what an old mentor of his might've said about loitering at places where one shouldn't. Walking off towards the side of the rich-looking hall Kensuke made sure not to lean against the walls. Beauty in simplicity and elegance of design. The subtle boast of wealth that the entire palace seemed to breathe was lost on him.

"Any first thoughts?" He asked Team 7 with a respectfully hushed voice.

Standing still besides her teammates and waiting for the messenger to return, Karma wondered what was making her make so many bad moves when it came to interacting with strangers. It seemed to her that most of the time she had a rough start with people she tried to interact with. Her thoughts were cut short when Kensuke asked his question, to which Karma responded with a brief shake of her head. She didn't want to share any thoughts, at least not after they could interact with the second person Kensuke wished to talk to.

"Considering the fact that these cultists that Haruka is investigating are still skulking around and threatening her life, everyone is very calm, which is for the best. Aside from that I've not noticed anything specific." Kyoi quietly chimed after Karma shook her head, keeping a vigilant watch over their immediate area with her Byakugan whilst they waited.

Sounds of boots resonated through the hall as the servant of before made a quick but yet restrained way towards Team 7. Once he had closed in some distance, the servant would offer a quick bow before he spoke up to the team. "As per requested, I have been able to find captain Aratoshi. He said that he didn't have much time to speak but if you deem it necessary he will be at the training field near the barracks. If it would please you, I can guide you there," the young lad reported in a hushed tone, only bowing his head once more to the newcomers that he had to serve.

With his team uniquely without commentary and silent Kensuke found himself nodding at the servant's proposal. "That would be nice." He said, gesturing for him to guide the shinobi through the palace.

The servant would turn on his heels and make way through the halls, expecting that the team would follow him. Leading them through the various long halls, they would at a certain point exit the huge complex outside. Through the gardens where they first entered, where not many were present due to the ominous dark grey blanket of clouds, the servant would lead them towards the nearby barracks. Various shouts and sounds resonated. The servant seemed to be growing slightly more timid as they would approach the field where various gear was set up and where men trained with and in specific kind of equipment. A somewhat short and stern looking individual seemed to stand apart, his hands on his back while his steel grey eyes watched the activities on the training field.

When the group would be lead further to the short man, the latter turned to them. "Sir, these are the newcomers that would like to have a moment of your time." The young servant managed to say, even though his nerves became more evident. The short man that went by the name Aratoshi eyed the three shinobi and simply frowned at first.

"Ah yes, very well. As you might spot, I am not entirely free but I was informed that you lot had some questions. That might lead to ease my work, in some way?" The man asked, his tone as sharp and stern as his gaze.

"Yes, it would. I was hoping that you could repay us the favour." He said, and bowed his head in a greeting. "I am Nimatsu Kensuke, this is Konohagakure Team 7." He said, extending an arm towards the team by manner of introduction. "Lady Haruka indicated that we should speak to you. There are some things we must discuss concerning our future cooperation."

The officer visibly seemed to ponder on the first comment of Kensuke until the latter brought up the name of Haruka. Aratoshi would lower the stern composure by a bit as his tone also seemed to grow milder. "Very well. I will admit that I don't like to just spill beans to anybody I am not familiar with. But if you are acting on behalf of Lady Haruka, you can count on some of my support." The man briefly flashed a polite smile as his eyes seemed to quickly size them up, mostly what kind of gear was visible with each of Team 7's member.

It was refreshing to see a military man accepting the problem before him because he trusted his superiors to know what they were doing. It made things a whole lot easier for him. "Thank you, Aratoshi-sama. Do you have an office nearby? I mean no insult, but I have been told there are eyes and ears everywhere."

The officer slowly nodded as he subtly beckoned them to follow him. As he turned around, he would shout out to somebody, that he was in charge. A shout answered, responding that he had understood it. Leading the team to the nearby barracks, they would pass the large hall that was used for troops that were enjoying a break or lunch. Entering a hall and from there into a small office, Aratoshi would take place behind his desk. It was a most modest room where there were various objects on display. Possibly some trophies of Aratoshi, as some of the objects were damaged weaponry or a piece of equipment. "I hope that there won't be any ears or eyes in here. But I am not much knowledgeable in the art of subterfuge. I prefer a more, direct fashion." Aratoshi said as he gestured for them to speak. "But ask and I will see how well I can answer in response."

"Understandably so." Kensuke admitted and stood in front of the desk. "I will be curt. We are here to protect Lady Haruka from the Zealot threat. We are capable of protecting her against most attempts, but eventually one has to succeed. I believe that a more proactive approach is in order. There comes the catch. While we are suitably equipped to both protect her ladyship and hunt her would-be assassins, we lack the manpower to do both effectively. I'd like to cooperate with your men so we can get this over with." He explained. "However, we must do so with subtlety. The Zealots are known to have a way around infiltration and intelligencing their way into their targets, complicating things. I'd like to propose we start simple; by sharing basic information. Lists of people, with faces, who may be trusted and who shouldn't be is a great step already. The sooner we build up a core of information the more effective we can be at denying them opportunities." He went on to explain his plans to the samurai officer.

If Aratoshi had some opinion for or against their present, hearing what their objective was, he didn't show it. The stern expression became once more visible, plastered over his features. He subtly nodded, indicated that he was paying attention and agreeing on some words of Kensuke. Once the jounin was done, Aratoshi would reply back. "You want me to list people who might be trusted and who not? I can already tell you that if it is concerning the Lady and her family's safety that most of the retinue can be trusted. Screened and capable men and lads. I don't really put much faith in the large man that goes by the name Hallbjörn but he is no source of trouble." The last few words were spoken in an almost bitter tone before Aratoshi continued. "I do believe that one of the present courtiers has been a source of annoyance. He goes by the name of Tetsuo of the Okazaki family. They own a large patch of land south of Hanaguro and are considered loyal subjects. At least, they were. Since two generations bad blood is boiling between them and the Nagata family. Who, to make things complicated, are actually a branch-family of the Tamiyo. As you lot can imagine, the Tamiyo are stuck between supporting a family that shares an ancestry with them. And one that has bled, sweat and suffered for them." The officer's nose wrinkled, clearly disgust about what he was going to say.

"With things growing this sour, the current Lord governor has wisely decided to support the Nagata family. Certainly after Okakzaki Tetsuo has insulted the governor's son. Calling him incapable and many other things after a banquet." Aratoshi paused for a moment as he would then rub his neck. "Other than that, I can think of various servants. But that is likely my own suspicion due to that I haven't any of my men screened their backgrounds. Not really the kind of workforce that I need to screen anyways, I believe."

"Do you believe that the Tetsuo would affiliate themselves with the Zealots? Are they bold or bitter enough in the current state?" He asked.

The question didn't take long to be answered by Aratoshi. "I am afraid that I can't say that I would be an accurate source. I am not that much known with how sour the Okazaki family are with losing the Tamiyo support. Perhaps they are being fooled or this Zealot organisation is deploying a third party to make them act this bold. There haven't been any grave transgression yet but it is clear that the Okazaki are preparing for something."

"Thank you for sharing your knowledge, it helps us a long way. You may rest assured that we will make no distinction between the source of the threat when it comes to our employer. If possible we may even handle it discreetly to avoid a scandal." He said with a look towards Karma and Kyoi that could almost be said to be a smug smile.

"I would prefer that. The less trouble, the better." Aratoshi replied, briefly eyeing the other members of the team. "If that will be all, then I would like to request you lot to move on as I am still occupied with my own tasks at hand."

"Until next time." Kensuke said with a slight bow of the head and turned on his heels to walk outside of Aratoshi's office. Once outside he allowed himself a moment to watch the men training outside, emptying his mind. He saw two of the samurai circle eachother until they stepped in, clashing blades very briefly before one crossed his wrists in a cut he had never seen before to strike the other in the ribs, ending the bout. "Right. Now that's out of the way, let's talk about plans for our near future." He said. "But let's get something to eat first."

Kyoi quietly listened to the discussion between Kensuke and Aratoshi, silently raising a brow as the Okazaki were spoken of, the potential a clan had when spurned by an ally could allow for compromised information and safety. She would have to ask Kensuke about handling that situation later, he was apparently hungry so it wouldn't go amiss. "Sure, eating sounds okay to me."

Kensuke led the conversation in a rather straight forward manner with Aratoshi, and from the side it seemed that to some degree the two had a mutual understanding of where each other stood as well as how it would be best to deal with things. As they left the office and Kensuke made brought up the need to discuss plans and then his desire to eat, Karma merely shrugged. She wasn't hungry, but she didn't feel the need to try and stop either of the other two from eating.

With a rice ball, some vegetables, scrambled egg and some marinated beef strips in a small bowl in front of him Kensuke took a minute of time to order his thoughts while he ate. The food they'd received was simple yet nourishing, probably the same food the palace guards ate. Better than he'd eaten on the way here for sure. Having made sure upon arrival that the room was safe from threats and espionage, he observed the team while they ate, although Karma didn't seem to have much of an appetite. He didn't know what he was looking for, but he noticed nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps a certain kind of elatedness, but that might just be his imagination.

"Right. Here's how we'll do things. Feel free to make suggestions, but wait til I'm finished." He began setting aside his bowl once it was empty. "As you know Team 4 is already in town, covertly gathering information. We can communicate with them with a separate headset's channel. It's just a matter of getting in range. Someone'll have to walk around town until they get a connection to establish communications. We can set up a working system of further communications after that." He said, showing the spare set he brought, and placing it on the table.

"Secondly, we'll need to set up a permanent guard inside Lady Tamiyo's room. Ideally we'll rotate between both of you." He said, and offered them a sheepish smile. "Your sensory abilities would work far better than mine from a concealed position. That person would be Lady Tamiyo's last line of defence apart from her own trump cards, which I hope she has. Communicate if you notice anything fishy, the rest of the team should always be at the ready to react. If she moves, you move with her. The second person would likely stand guard inside or outside of the lady's room. Visibly, either way." He said, and shrugged. "It'll give the zealots a moment of thought before going into action. And the longer they feel they need to prepare, the more time we have to thwart their plans." He continued and paused to drink a little bit. "The third person'll be resting, researching, spying, talking to people,…, anything that we need at the time." He finally concluded and leaned back in the chair.

"Questions or suggestions?"

Kyoi quietly listened and thought, eating at a reasonable pace all the while, during Kensuke's plan of action. "I can only suggest that I initially scout around the entire town to check for any signs of these zealots slipping their undercover beasts in, from there I have no qualms with remaining on watch within Haruka's quarters. As for questions, do you suspect that the Okazaki may be compromised? If so we could simply nip that at the bud before they start causing a real problem. And establishing contact with Team 4, I'd say it's your choice on who does that, would it be a good idea to leave any investigations of the town itself to them?"

While she did grab a bit of rice, she hadn't touched it at all and instead had her notebook out. When Kensuke begun talking about the plan, Karma lowered her pen and listened. He remarked on Kyoi's sensory abilities being better than his, but in the meanwhile she wondered if he even considered the fact that having herself with Lady Taimyo could also be beneficial, as she could trick anyone who may try making a move by surpressing her chakra. If any move was made, then they would never know she is there as another line of defence.

After Kensuke finished and Kyoi brought up her own suggestion, Karma moved her pen back to the notebook. Once her teammate finished speaking, she turned to look at Kensuke "No questions or suggestions from me." She quickly said before waiting to hear what response he will have for Kyoi.

He nodded at Kyoi's answers and waited to answer them when Karma added that she had no qualms with his plans. He gave her a sharp nod, and looked back at Kyoi. "Scouting the entire town is not an efficient option at this time. It'd take far too much time. I'll let Team 4 worry about the town for now. As for the Okazaki clan, I highly doubt they're involved in this. Whatever their disagreements, I doubt they are great enough to risk the existence of their clan as a whole by putting their money on the Zealots. At best I suspect they might offer covert aid under the highest secrecy. But this changes very little. We already know that we should trust no one at this court but our own and those indicated to be worthy of absolute trust by Lady Tamiyo." He replied.

"Understood." Kyoi managed between sips of her tea, curt about it but she could see where he was coming from. "I figured it would be worth considering, at the very least, people will go to the least likely candidates when desperate. I can somewhat easily keep a consistent watch over Haruka, when do you want someone to take up first watch over her?"

"Right now. Karma, you'll be the first to act as concealed guard. Kyoi, visible guard duty. I will establish communications with Team 4 in the meantime. I'll take over visible guard duty as much as I can to allow you guys some rest." He said, and slapped his knees as he got up. He played with the empty sheath at his side for a moment, pouting his lip as he missed the comfortable weight of the sword inside. Then he straightened his back and turned towards the door. "Let's get to work."

Hearing the final instructions of Kensuke, Karma nodded, indicating she understood. She then closed her notebook and got up, giving Kyoi a brief glance before she begun to head towards the door as well.

Kyoi was up quickly after Kensuke's decision on the distribution of their lack of manpower within the compound. "Understood, we'll get right to it then." She'd soon leave the room as well.

Mika Hayashi,

| Leader of Kiri Team 14| Republic of the Water Country | Kirigakure, capital of the Republic - In the Oda Compound |

The large beast that stood near Aya and Taishiro, blocking the way towards Mika. The small eyes of the beast observed with uncanny intelligence the two genin. Lowering itself, the beast seemed ready to move in for an attack but Aya's charge forced the beast to go on the defensive. Expecting the fierce genin to come with an ordinary slash the creature would step aside and try to grab one of Aya's arm. When the genin lowered herself, a blood curling scream emitted from the dreadful creature. The sharp edge of Aya's katana sliced through fur, skin and flesh.

Angered the creature turned as quick as it could and before Aya could rise up to defend herself, a claw grabbed the girl by the neck. A low growl resonated from the creature's throat as it lifted Aya up and threw her over the bar. Flashing its teeth, the beast briefly threw a glance at its injured right leg. The katana had sliced deep but not severed the tendons. Clenching one of its claws into a fist, the creature smashed its fist into a nearby table before advancing in a walking pace towards the bar.

Grunting Mika tried to cast the daze off but the sharp pain was provoking her to remain on the ground. Trying to get up, she could hear faintly some sounds. Cursing herself mentally for having been caught off guard, the jounin tried to get up. Just as she was about to rise, something heavy collided against her side. Gasping for air, the woman fell on her side as the nearby beast made a sound. One that almost resembled snickering.

Staring down on the dazed jounin, the beast was slightly smaller than the one who was occupied with Aya. A dark red tongue reached out and licked the dark lips while vicious teeth and fangs were briefly revealed. Walking on its hind legs towards Mika, the beast released a soft and deep growl. Its eyes observed the jounin's movement to spot if the woman was still a threat or now just a helpless prey.

Before it could launch an attack, pain shot through the body of the creature. Releasing a snarl, the beast quickly turned to the source of its agony. Spotting Taishiro drawing his weapon the beast narrowed its eyes. "Dead... meat." Were the two words that the beast growled towards Taishiro. Lowering itself, the beast flashed its teeth before it would charge and try to overwhelm the genin.

Only for the last moment to feel a strong tug on its left leg. Resulting in that the charging menacing creature fell on its stomach. "Kill it!" Mika shouted at Taishiro as she tried her best to keep her water whip around the beast's left leg.

Harumi Uchiha,

| ANBU | Akinian Empire | Nondong, capital of the Jarldom of Dagny- Cho Clan Heartlands |

Previous post.

It remained silent. The horrible stench did become less as she waited in the dark but Harumi didn't focus on the dreadful aroma of the sewer. Crossing the distance slowly and as silently as she could, the ANBU operative would take cover behind a wall as soft voices resonated around the corner. Staying put, Harumi tried to eavesdrop on what the masculine voices were speaking about. Sadly enough, the language wasn't Taika.

Growing more annoyed than she already was, Harumi would remain still. If she had found a nest of zealots then she had to be careful. The first thought and desire were to take them all out before they could do any damage. But it would be more beneficial if she could learn what they had in terms of information on the region's ongoing operations. Slowly she leaned to peek around the corner. There were half a dozen of men, garbed in ordinary clothes. Nothing that set them apart or gave away that they were armed. Perhaps they were capable of using ninjutsu? That could be a problem.

Just before Harumi wanted to move into the room under the cover of the darkness, a trio entered the room from the other side. They were garbed in leather protection and were clearly armed. "I really am running out of luck these days." Harumi thought to herself while she remained where she was. One of the six men of before turned around and nodded to the approaching trio.

"Ah, took you three long enough. So, what is it going to be?"
"The deal is on. We will deliver the bombs tomorrow. They will be stored in the basement of the abandoned northern warehouse. Right next to the warehouse that is the property of Asger. Make certain that we do get our demands or else the trade is off."
"Of course, my friend, of course."

The two engaged into more talking but their voices would faint away as the four men started to walk away. Five would slowly walk the same way but seemed to be cautious, guarding the rear of the advancing men. Harumi's nose bridge wrinkled as she considered her options. The information was interesting. The fact that the zealots had switched over to Taika meant that those 'newcomers' weren't of the same origin or even Zealots. Could they be dissidents? If so, then it would give them a reason to cooperate with the Zealots.

Knowing that the Cho Guard expected her to take out this den of Zealots, Harumi sighed softly. Stalking the group in the shadow, the ANBU operative was considering her options. If anything, she wanted that the 'transaction' wouldn't be cancelled. It would be great if she could let one of those zealots and the assumed 'dissidents' just wander off so that they wouldn't suspect that they were being hunted. But she already was aware that there was some kind of deal ongoing tomorrow. Perhaps she should just let the 'dissidents' wander off and then take out the zealots? It would fall in with the request of the Cho Guard.

The group walked through the reeking darkness and eventually reached a point where the three strangers would depart by climbing up a ladder, leaving the sewers through a manhole. The six Zealots continue to walk through the dark. The puddles of dirty water and unmentionables were disturbed by their boots as the men didn't really seem to care much for subtly or if they were quiet. Moving in a formation with one in the back and then two ranks of two men right next to each other, Harumi assumed that the leader was at the front. Narrowing her eyes, the ANBU's right-hand slit towards her side as her targets kept moving through the sewers.

One of the men, all the way in the back, yawned as he brought his right hand to his mouth. Before his fingers were able to block off his mouth, his lips parted. Only to be closed by gloved fingers. The man's eyes widened as a sharp pain would shot through his neck. His vision started to become blurry as a dark figure seemed to make him lean backwards and gently touch down on the ground.

The duo that followed up didn't seem to notice any danger until it was too late for them as well. The man to the right of the duo turned his head slightly over his shoulder as he seemed to catch up that something was wrong. Before he could warn his comrade, his throat was already sealed by a tag of paper. His partner also faced the same problem as a few tags of paper wrapped on his lips and neck.

"Damn amateurs," Harumi thought to herself as she would give a strong tug while manipulating the string of paper tags. The two men would abruptly stop resisting as the paper had spread over their necks and heads. The tug of Harumi just twisted their heads abruptly, causing their resistance to cease almost immediately afterwards.
Sighing softly, Harumi would let the men slowly touch down on the ground before she advanced. The paper would silently flow back and form the ANBU's arms once more.

"Hm?" One of the men turned around and noticed that the three other men were missing. In their foreign tongue, the man warned his compatriots. The leader at the front quickly ordered something with a sneer but before the men would be able to turn around, one of them would feel a sharp pain at his throat. A dubble steel edge cut through skin and flesh, getting stuck into the man's throat. The remaining grunt turned to his dying comrade but before he was able to react, a kunai was plunged into his nape.

"Finally, privacy."

Whispering the words as she pushed the man aside, her eyes locked on the leader, Harumi's left hand shot forwards. The zealot leader turned around with his hands weaving seals but before he would finish, a shuriken would hit its mark. The right hand of the man. Grunting the leader turned to the direction of Harumi but wasn't able to finish the string of seals for his technique. A strong kick to the stomach send the man falling on his back, onto the dirty floor. Before he was able to get up and try to defend himself, another kick landed against his head. Dazed and in pain, the zealot tried to reach for something at his pouch.

"I hope it is a sandwich," Harumi sneered as she grasped the man's wrist and turned him on his stomach. Planting a knee in the man's back, her other hand grabbed the man by the back of his head. "Cause I will make you eat it. Now, talk. I know you can understand me and speak back." Twisting the man's arm further for a moment, Harumi would allow her target to catch his breath.

"Fuck off."
"I would love to."

A gasp for air escaped the man for a moment as Harumi started to twist his arm again. But this would go together with the ANBU pushing the man's face into the floor. Waiting for a moment, she would ease up once more. "Speak."

Several seconds passed as the man underneath her tried to catch his breath. Probably it would have been polite to not let him eat some of the dirt in the sewer but Harumi considered that nobody would whine about it.

"We are working with the locals to prepare the next strike. You won't get anything more from me, bitch." The man spat out in a more angrier tone. Harumi frowned as she pulled the man by the back of his head firmly. "Bitch? Seriously? Could have been more creative." Pushing the man's head once more into the dirt, Harumi spoke in a cold and collective voice. "What next strike?"

The man gasped for air as soon as Harumi let him lift his head. Coughing and spitting out the dirt, the man didn't reply at all. But as soon as Harumi placed some pressure on the back of his head, the man attempted to speak. Waiting thus for a moment, Harumi would listen to the man's answer. "Over two days! There is going to be a strike at the northern district at four locations. T-The plan is to frame some Taika clans working against the Chonobi. T-There, you got your info. I can get you more if you will release me."

Taika clans working against the Chonobi? Harumi remembered something about some attack on the Sarutobi clan but she didn't have the highest access to obtain all details. "Are they trying to create a conflict between the Chonobi and Taika clans? But which clans are they trying to frame to work against the Cho?" Harumi thought. She wanted to ask more but decided that she had to be certain before going off on the man's information.

"Congralutions. You won yourself another day." Harumi whispered as she lifted his head up. The man uttered some vague no before the woman slammed his head against the dirt twice. Being certain that he was knocked cold, Harumi frowned.

"And lucky me. I get to carry you out of here and deliver you to the Cho Guard."

Taishiro Kanai | Team 14 Genin | Kirigakure

Things were bad. Taishiro saw out of the corner of his eye Aya getting thrown over the bar and wanted to move to help her. But his thoughts were cut short almost immediately, as the beast attacking Mika spun on him. It spoke, unnerving the boy who wanted nothing more than to run before surging forward. Taishiro raised his weapon and got ready to dive to the side, but quickly realized he wasn't fast enough. Time seemed to slow for him as adrenaline pumped through his veins, the beast's gnashing teeth growing closer, his death mere moments away. Then it froze, suddenly yanked backward as Mika made her move against him, shouting at the boy to kill the beast. Looking towards the monster that had fallen onto its stomach, Taishiro quickly lashed out with his blade. Aiming to make a deep cut across the back of its neck. If this thing had any sort of logic to its body, the genin was certain that it would not survive a wound such as that.

His attack did not make contact, as the beast snapped at his legs. The genin hopped back on unsteady feet to avoid ending up with a nasty gash. The beast made another attempt towards his legs, struggling all the time to get rid of Mika's technique. As its gnashing teeth once more closed on air, the genin made another attempt to kill the beast, coming towards it from the side. Quick as lightning, Taishiro noticed something lash out and suddenly his feet went out. Crashing to the floor, he swung his blade around and managed to catch the beast across its snout. Then he kicked at its body, trying to keep the beast startled as he moved away from the creature. The boy yelped slightly in pain as something caught the side of his leg, drawing blood. Seeing this opportunity, the monster kept up its attacks towards the boy while still struggling with Mika's attack.

Blood spilled onto the ground as the beast lashed out and caught his leg in a vicious strike. He kicked at the beast with his free leg, getting nowhere except annoying the beast. The only part of his desperate attacks that seemed to even have an impact being the swings of his sword. The beast avoiding an unpleasant meeting with his blade. Amid these desperate motions, Taishiro managed to catch the beast across its ugly snout. Not enough to really hurt it, but enough so he was able to push himself away for a moment. Somebody help... please! The boy begged internally, getting to a knee and holding his weapon at the ready as he slowly attempted to get to his feet. Worry in his gut about whether or not he could make it out of this alive as he watched the even more enraged beast.[/hr][/fieldbox]

Empire of Akino, near Amegakure - the capital of the Rain province.
Advancing into the Housha's compound!

A collab of Team Etsu (composed out of Zane, Alice and Oetje).

Summary:
Just as Mitsunari leads the charge into the Housha compound from one of the three directions, Team Etsu and some of the Tough Rats are clearing out rooftops from foes that rain attacks and projectiles on the fights on ground.

[spoili]
The troops surged forwards once Mitsunari gave the command. There was nobody wavering or hanging back, charging as one into the compound. The zealots and insurgents that were wreaking havoc were soon confronted by a prepared force. The charge caused the enemies to be pushed back rapidly for a minute or two, caught completely off-guard by the shock of the attack. But the momentum of the attack started to wane away as the enemy was recovering from the initial impact of the charge. Various enemies had located themselves on top of some establishments and houses, unleashing ranged attacks on the force of Mitsunari.

A bow armed zealot drew an arrow as he was clearly searching for a leading officer. Spotting the jounin commander of the Rain province, the archer would nock the projectile. Pulling the string slightly back, the archer wouldn't be able to unleash his surprise attack. An arm wrapped around his neck, pulling him back while another gloved hand holding a knife came into his sights. A gasp escaped the archer as he dropped his weapon as the steel of the knife bite deep, through the clothing of the man.

Grunting softly, Etsu would twist her weapon before jerking it out of her victim's chest. In a fluid movement, she would release the man from her grasp and allow him to tumble forwards, falling on a lower balcony. Throwing a look over her shoulder, she could briefly spot a few members of the Tough Rat's moving in small groups over the rooftops to eliminate any hostile contact. Not concerning herself how the battle was going on the ground, Etsu gestured her team to keep following her. She had spotted a few enemies taking up a position on a nearby rooftop, likely with the idea to attack the force of Mitsunari from above. Running towards the edge of the rooftop she was on, Etsu would jump over to a balcony. Landing she would halt her advancement as there had been several enemies. Not knowing how capable those foes could be, it would be beneficial if she would allow her students to catch up and support her.

Rini wasn't sure what was more terrifying. The fact that she was trying to follow Etsu and Kitana through what seemed to be a war zone or that she couldn't hear herself thinking anymore. Her heart was skipping beats and cold sweat rolled from her back as she kept following the other two. If there was anything that comforted the genin, it was likely the scary mask that prevented others from reading the emotions of her face. Just as she landed on a rooftop, Rini saw how Etsu quickly and efficiently took out a man. There was no hesitation in her movements, moving fluidly from just moving to taking out an enemy with just a knife. Swallowing, Rini paused for a moment. Realising that Etsu wanted to press forward, Rini didn't want to but her body already started to move out of its own will. Managing to leap from the rooftop towards the balcony, Rini managed to grab the ledge of the balcony. Pulling herself quickly up, she would move her shoulder against the nearby wall. Her focus was set on Etsu while she tried to ignore the chaos on the ground, where people were fighting and dying.

The initial clash was more bloody and unnerving than she thought it would be, she knew people were going to die in this attack but she never truly experienced death on a scale this large. All the blood that splattered on clothing and pooled on the ground was more blood than she thought she would see in one day, which made her nerves eveen worse when this was just the start. The sounds she heard were terrifying, the sounds of people suffering from the attacks that didn't kill them outright but would didn't exactly do any favors. Yet she couldn't let her attention focus on the carnage, she had to keep up with Etsu who seemed to act like this was a normal day occurence. Taking out an archer on the top of the roof with ease. With her kill done she wasted no time in pressing forward, giving Rini and herself no time to process what ttruly happened just now. Jumping over to the balcony with Etsu and Rini she would halt alongthe same wall Rin was at, with both their attentions focused on their sensei and what she planned to do and have them do as well.

Waiting for the two girls to group up on her, Etsu wouldn't move a muscle for a few seconds.
"There are six hostile contacts on the rooftop. I will need you both to pull a surprise on them."
As the jounin was explaining her plan, she would kick against the door that would lead inside. The door would fall out of its hinges as it wasn't made to sustain such violence.
"Get underneath them and plant explosive tags. I will use the communicator to state when to light the tags off. Spread the explosives as I want to cave in most of the rooftop. Once the enemy is down and surprised, move in and take them out. I will move up and try to already lessen their numbers and keep them occupied."

Gesturing to the two to move inside and start working, Etsu wouldn't stay for too long behind to watch them get inside. Climbing with the aid of chakra focused at her hands and feet, the jounin would scale the wall towards the rooftop.

Six enemies? With just three of them, Rini shivered for a second. She wasn't entirely certain she could manage to fight off two foes at the same time. Instead of hearing how she would soon be facing violence, Etsu explained her plan. It seemed rather simple but yet Rini couldn't wonder how great it would go. Nodding as she was aware that she had no better plan nor being the one in charge, the genin would move into the home. The interior hadn't been subject to the violence and chaos and from the looks of it, they were in the master's bedroom. Trying to ignore her ponderings, Rini would pull out a few explosive tags. Starting to attach them to the loop of her kunai, Rini would speak up with a shaking voice. "I got this room. Y-You can move ahead to the next."

So she wanted them to kill six people after a surprise attack? It was possible but it required their nerves to not fail them in their time of need. Although she was hoping that the explosion would outright just kill them from below, the odds of that were probably pretty low. Nodding though as her and Rini would enter the home of the rather untouched room, Rini would voice to her that she got this room and that she could move to the next. Kitana smiled softly behind the mask and gave a nod to the young girl before entering what look like a childrens room which was also untouched. Pulling out her own explosive tags and doing the same as Rini with attaching them through the loop of her kunai, she placed a few on the top of the ceiling a bit spread out to fully cave in the place. She would then leave the room that was basically a blast zone to enter the room that probably also a blast zone. "My room is done, is yours?"

Peeking over the edge, Etsu managed to verify that there were indeed six targets. A few of them were unleashing arrows down while one seemed to be on guard duty. Another just finished weaving handseals and held the last one. Probably for preparing a large ninjutsu attack on the forces of Mitsunari. Etsu's eyes narrowed as she didn't have a clear path to move up and remain out of sight. Her primary target was the man who was moulding and gathering chakra for his attack. Yet she couldn't just ignore the other hostiles.
Hanging at the edge with just her left hand gripping it, a blue hue of chakra surrounding her gloved hand, Etsu would pull out a flashbang bomb out of her pouch with her right hand. Counting to two, the jounin would lob the small round object over the edge. One of the men's voice resonated, only two words ringing through the air before the small explosion would interrupt him.

Moving over the edge at a rapid speed, Etsu would bring her own hands together in order to weave the Tiger handsignal. In succession, the woman would slam the palms of her hands against the roof. Chakra surged through the rooftop and would mould the ground below a few of the men into the mud, causing one to slip off and fall downwards as his scream echoed - only being overwhelmed by the sound of the fighting on the ground.

Before Etsu was able to pull off another technique, she was forced to roll to the side to avoid a knife being thrown at her.

She considered that four would be enough. A second the genin worried but pushed herself to exit the room. "Yeah, done! I am moving to the next!" Rini reported back in a shout to Kitana. Going through the hall, she figured it would be good to throw two kunai at the ceiling. Though her aim wasn't important as the ceiling wouldn't just slide to the side or move, Rini did notice that her hands were shaking a bit too much to allow her to deliver a good throw. Cursing softly under the cover of the mask, Rini entered another room. It seemed nothing too special but a notion came in mind of the girl. Where were the occupants of this house? Had they been outside, now killed or on the run? Biting her lower lip, Rini started to work on completing her work. "I am here!" She decided to shout, unsure if it was even required.

She could see the places she had thrown the kunai, and gave a nod to herself as she progressed down the hallway as well seeing some spots Rini decided to place a kunai with the tag atatched in the ceiling. Rini shouted out that she was in the one room to which Kitana gave a slight chuckle to. [color=pink}"Okay i'll get the room down at the end of the hallway."[/color] Kitana had said into the room Rini was in as she walked down the halway a bit more, placing a couple more into the ceiling along the way. Entering the room which wasn't very tasteful, besides maybe being a lounge or such. She would place three kunai in the ceiling deciding that would be enough for a room of this size.

Pulling out a knife, a sharp blue hue would surround the blade of the weapon. It would extend a small bit further than the point of the weapon.
"Double time, girls." Etsu said through the communicator in a calm voice.
One of the archers had managed to recover and would release an arrow from his bow towards the jounin. Etsu, however, managed to step aside and manage to close in some distance. Only to be confronted by the ninjutsu opponent. A red hue surrounded the man's fists as he tried to land a punch.
Barely in time did Etsu managed to halt the attack with her free hand and kick her opponent backwards.

Considering that she was done with the room, Rini would quickly exit the room. "I am done over here." She reported to Kitana, only to hear afterwards Etsu's voice through the communicator. Running down the hallway, Rini would come to a halt as she tried to gauge if Kitana was done. "I think that were all rooms, right?" The genin asked, trying to sound confident and composed as she briefly looked at the hallway. Only realising that they had to find a way to not get burried by the debris themselves. "I think we should head down a level. Will you report to Etsu-sensei?"

Hearing Rini she would walk out of the room "Done here as well" Kitana responded back only to hear theri sensi on the communicator and then to see Rini running down the hallway to her. "I believe this is all of them on the top floor. Wonder how sensei plans to not get blown down as well but I'm sure she has her plan thought out." she replied to Rini's question and gave a nod to head down a level. She started running toward the stairs as he activated the communicator. "We got the top floor ready to detonate sensei. Just say when." Kitana spoke on the communicator to let Etsu know they were ready, well as ready as they could be.

Trying to hold her own, Etsu was well aware that it was a matter of time before she would lose too much ground and had to retreat. Or just take the hits.
Leaning to the right to avoid a straight punch, Etsu lashed out with her weapon during the evasive move. Only for her opponent to quickly skid backwards as his companions were ready to attack the jounin.

"Gotcha!"
Inserting more chakra, the extension would shoot forwards as it ripped through clothing, blood and flesh. Spotting the surprised look of the ninjutsu foe. An arrow grazed across Etsu's side as she moved to the side, to keep the man between herself and the other foes. Yet not allowing the foe closest to her recover, Etsu would let the sharp chakra bite deep into the man's side.
"Now!" She shouted as she would attempt to jump backwards.

Rini had barely reached the first level of the house when she overhead the conversation between Etsu and Kitana. Trying to run faster the genin would also unsheath her weapon of choice, her katana. Gripping the weapon's hilt tightly with her right hand, she was hoping that Kitana could reach the bottom of the stairs quickly. Forming the Seal of Confrontation with her left hand, Rini would send forth a spark of chakra to ignite the explosive tags. It seemed to last an entire lifetime for the anxious genin before the explosions would resonate from the tags she had planted.

[fieldbox=Farewell Tall City, #9A2EFE]
| ??? & ??? | High Port of Panna | A Month Ago | ??? |

As the sun peaked over the clouds on the horizon, the city started to settle down. The extravagant lights of pubs and festivals were drowned out by the light of day, and the songs stopped as the youth of the city began to feel their energy drain away after a long night. A chilly breeze swept through the narrow back streets where old workers played cards and drank their tea to stay warm, while those walking through the boulevards felt the touch of the sun warm them gently. All of the dynamics of the city couldn't be seen better anywhere other than the High Port, the tallest point on the city's island. An extravagantly ornate ship cast its shadow on the side of the large building holding up the port. The red suited workers were loading crates and luggage on the ship where the crew was leading them to the storage deck. A young woman and a large, burly old man with a thick beard and wide arms walked up to the dock. They both carried the distinct light yellow color in their eyes.

The young woman seemed reluctant. She walked over to the edge of the port as one of the workers tried to stop her, but the older man gestured him to leave. "I wish we could stay a bit more," she said, staring down at the wide street far below that began growing busier and busier. The older man walked next to her and put his hand on her shoulder. "Duty calls, dear," he said with a warm smile. "We'll return before long, worry not."

The young woman let out a sigh and turned to him. She nodded with a stern visage. Just as she was about to say something, the ship blew its horn, signaling that the cargo was on board. She considered once more to speak, but instead stepped away from the edge. The two walked up to the entrance of the ship. The old man took a step on the platform leading in the ship, only to notice no following footsteps. He turned to her and gave her a meaningful look before walking in. The young woman stood still for a few moments before following the man in.

[fieldbox="An Advance in the Opposite Direction, #ff4d4d"]Harada Toshi | Team 3 Genin | Sky-Wolf Country - Enemy Camp
Toshi begins his withdrawal from the enemy camp, only to be overtaken by a need to create large explosions instead.
[spoili]
Toshi's breath was fast and ragged as he stood in the middle of the tent, another man dead where he slept by his hands. It was ridiculous that he had even considered that this could be possible. That a man could sleep through such a raging battle outside, but it had been seen on the approach and passed by scouts earlier. The enemy was chaotic. They fought one another, and drank copiously especially for a army at war, what was in front of him was merely a consequence of all that drinking. He wiped his blood soaked hands on a rag that was hanging off a pole in the tent before moving to the tent flaps.

He pulled an explosive tag from his pocket and placed one side carefully at the very seam of the tent flap where both flaps come together and stepped out of the tent. With a quick look around he deemed it was safe enough that he could finish what was up to. Reaching back in the tent he would gab the other end of the explosive tag and attach it to the other tent flap, leaving both flaps shut as if nothing were wrong. He wondered how long it would be until someone tried to enter the tent to take a look inside after the raid was over, but he was sure that they'd be able to hear his handiwork from the Allied camp once it came to fruition. After all, he had done this in every tent that he had entered, nearly forty tents had been booby trapped at this point, and Toshi was only half way through the explosive tags he had brought along for the attack.

As he stepped away from the tent he couldn't help but be a bit worried that an ally may try and enter one of the tents only to be blown away by his very trap, but the odds of such a thing were low. There were few reasons to be entering them in the first place, and Toshi seemed to be the outlier among the force that had reason for it.

He looked up the row of tents, fighting visible not too far away, but turned to the next tent in the line. He opened the flaps and took a peak inside only to find it empty. He quickly trapped it as he had countless times before and was about to move on when he heard a call from somewhere farther ahead, closer to the fighting.

"Fall back!" the call was resounded by the sound of steel on steel and followed by more calls, "Fall back to the river!"

It only took a few moments for Allied troops to begin to stream past Toshi in pairs and groups, but the sounds of fighting continued. Which meant that there was no doubt a force stemming the tide of the enemy to give time for the majority of forces to withdraw. "Time to leave then..." he said to himself as he began to jog in the direction that lead out of the enemy camp. As he ran he couldn't help but wonder what was going on with those that were holding back the tide.

As he ran he was passed by a group of Akinian soldiers that was moving far faster than him, "What's going on at the front!?" he yelled as he would pick up his jog to a run to keep pace with the three men.

"The enemy is streaming out in large numbers, time to get outta here Shinobi!" called one of the men.

"The Tiger Claws are holdin' em back! We've got time to run so I reckon you should!" a man with a short sword yelled.

Toshi nodded his head to the second man "Of course, wasn't thinking of doing anything else!" he yelled as they passed by a camp fire with multiple buckets of water behind it, he slowed as they ran before coming to a stop and turning to look back at the fire they had just passed.

"Damn Shinobi." one of the soldiers grumbled as he ran past.

"You're gonna get yerself killed Shinobi!" one of the three men yelled before they disappeared around a corner of tents.

Toshi waved in their direction as they went, unsure of his exact reason why, before he ran back to the buckets of water by the fire. Forming a Tiger seal, two water clones would grow out of the buckets. Toshi would smile at his clones before taking splitting the rest of forty-odd remaining explosive tags that he had and shove them into the chests of the clones. Just as he had done during the ambush in the town, he would make his clones into walking bombs once more. 'Guess I'm staying a bit longer then.' he thought to himself before his clones began running in the direction of the fighting, with Toshi running some distance behind them to give himself ample time to react to any enemy that may have slipped by.

He ran ahead, the sounds of combat becoming louder until he was face to face with a small band of Akinian soldiers fighting a group of the enemy. Satisfied with his position some thirty meters back from the fight, Toshi would keep a keen out for any groups of enemy approaching the area. His attention would be grabbed by a group of some ten to twenty of them as they appeared out from behind some tents nearly a hundred meters away. He didn't need to relay anything to his clones, as one instantly took off for the group.

The clone vaulted off a box and up over the group of Akinians fighting the enemy, easily clearing the mess of combat and landing on its feet behind the fight. The clone would make a straight line for the group of enemy, who quickly noticed it and would fall right into the trap, as one lone enemy charged them they too charged him, ready to make easy pickings of the lone soldier at their front. Toshi, watching from farther back would shield his eyes as the clone met the enemy group, taking a spear through the chest before a blinding flash overtook the area. For only a brief moment the area around directly around Toshi was visible in stark detail, with deep shadows being cast off of the far edges of objects and the warm orange light of the explosion illuminating it all. Then followed the sound and the shock wave.

The sound was deafening, and the wave that followed it was powerful enough to cause Toshi to stumble where he stood and knock down tents behind him. Ahead of him the group of fighting soldiers seemed to have gained the upper hand, whether it was due to the explosion or not, Toshi couldn't tell. Farther along, where the explosion had taken place there was a crater nearly five meters wide and half a meter deep. The group of enemy that had been next to it, and everything in a ten meter radius had been obliterated by the blast.

With a triumphant smile on his face, Toshi turned to his other clone who would nod and disappear around a tent to go find something to blow up.[/spoili][/fieldbox]

Atsuko Uragiri

Atsuko watched as the ANBU member stood there, voiceless. The only hint of communication he saw was when her head turned from Yukimi to him. He turned to the young ice user to offer her a smile. His attention swiftly returned to the ANBU as she lifted the hatch of the manhole and climbed down. As Yukimi climbed down, Atsuko threw one last look around. Once he heard the tap of the chuunin's foot, he climbed in as well. Once his head was in, he closed the lid, dragging it across and adjusting it to fit the gap. He made his way down, covering his nose for a moment before begrudgingly letting go.

He looked over at the ANBU, about to say something, only to see that she had already begun moving. He glanced back up at the ladder they'd climbed down, and then back at her. He placed his hand on the curving wall, feeling the cobble and its material. After a moment, he let go and followed after Nishi and Yukimi.

??? & ??? | Airship | Two Weeks Ago | ???

The trip had been stale thus far. Their company had only been the birds racing them. And still, as the distance between them and Panna continued to grow, their scarce friends began growing even scarcer, until none were left. The passangers of the ship now only had each other's only all too familiar company now. Thankfully, the ship carried few people: the necessary minimum for the crew, and five passangers. Their accomodations were nothing if not comfortable, yet the weight of the air made the trip far more difficult than any sleeping hammock on a seafaring ship ever could.

The young woman stood at the dock, looking over at the horizon. A light breeze brushed against her face as the ship sped forward, the wind at their backs. Though, one could hear the roaring gale outside of the captain's barrier, crashing onto the hull like wild waves. In her obscured sight, she tried to discern a grey mass in the distance. "It's the shore, is it not? No, it's too light," she argued. "But it's not just a cloud..." As she was mumbling, she felt two heavy hands on her shoulders, making her jump in place with a yelp.

The old man let out a hearty laugh as she glared at him, flustered. "Father! You scared me half to death," she scolded him. As the man's laughter started to die out, slowly but surely, he wiped a tear from his eye. "Haha... My dear, you seemed lost in thought," he said with a warm voice. "I could not bare it if you did not find your way back." His laughter settled down as the woman turned back to watching the ship's travel path, now joined by the old man.

After a moment, she spoke once more. "Why do we need to go?"

The man gave her a confused look. "You know why," he said, his voice more stern than warm. "When duty calls, we must go. Or do you mean to leave our allies to fight the enemy alone?"

"We could still return home," she said, her voice growing agitated. "I can't see this hunt being anything more than a tedious chore. It's just a small conflict. Surely the others can handle this."

The old man stayed quiet for a few moments before placing his hand on her shoulder. "Perhaps, dear, but we were called nonetheless," he said. "We're honourbound to go. What are we, if we reject a call out of pride."

She sunk her head into her crossed arms quietly, sighing. The old man took a step back. "Though heed this advice from this old man, if you do any at all. It might seem trivial, but you can never overestimate your opponents. I know you feel this is beneath you, but you mustn't let your pride lower your guard," he said worriedly. After a moment of silence, he flashed a grin as he ruffled her hair. "Come now. We're likely to arrive by daybreak. We ought to gather our effects. What kind of huntress would you be if you did not have your bow at your side?"

Aya Oda | Genin of Team 14

She had felt her blade slice through which cause a moment of joy to show on her face, thinking she had crippled the beast. Yet the smile soon faded as she heard the snarl, as her eyes trailed back to see the beast reaching for her. Trying to quickly get away proved useless as the beast had his claw around her neck, some blood trickling down her neck from the spots that the beast's nails were pressed tightly against. A audible gasp left her mouth as she was lifted up into the air, her feet kicking as she tried swinging her sword only to be thrown over the bar. Her blade fell from her grasp at the toss, landing on the opposite side of the bar. She however crashed against the back of the bar where they would display the drinks they had, which caused a cracking sound when her back slammed into the wooden surface. As she fell to the ground, you could see how hard she had been thrown with her body having dented the wall to showcase. Pieces of broken wood were splintering out with some black fabric on them, having caught Aya's clothing a bit.

She laid on the ground gasping a bit, feeling it rather hard to breath at the moment as she took to crawling. She felt like countless splinters were in her back at the moment, as some of her blood from scraping the wood was surfacing on her back. Not a major wound but the throw itself was what did the most damage. She heard the table being smashed as the claw like feet walked along the floor, followed by an annoyed snarl. She had this feeling she would suffer for her strike on it from earlier before being killed, so she simply had to delay this at any means necessary. She just hoped that sensei and Taishiro could kill the other one, which by how it sounded wasn't working out very well.

Spotting a glass that hadn't been damaged, Aya grabbed it and held it tightly in her right hand. So when the beast looked over the bar for her, it meet with a face full of glass that shattered with the strike. Cutting her hand, yet hopefully damaging the eyesight of the creature as well. Blood flowing from her bandaged right hand, she got to her feet and took off. Which the beast didn't take very kindly too as shards of glass was embedded in it's face. The beast lunged at her this time, this time however she ducked. This caused the beast to ram straight into the wall, basically slamming through it, yet not fully. She used this opportunity to get out from behind the bar, picking her sword up in the process.

However instead of attacking the beast in the wall, she ran towards the one that was distracted with Taishiro and Mika, and would raise her sword to impale it in the side of the chest. Hoping it was distracted enough with Taishiro, to notice her coming.[/fieldbox]

Team 6!

A collab between Sketching, Gerontis and Lesli.

Summary:
Saki is in a grim spot as she witnesses that Hideki is being grievously injured by the dreadful foe in black armour. Trying her best, the Yamanaka wants to fight back but as aid arrives she is moved away as the allied force falls back. While being taken back, Saki emotions go rampant.

The night raid ends with success for the allies but Team 6 gives their last respect to a fallen comrade. A friend. And a loved one.

[spoili]
The world seemed to slow down to an agonizing pace. As if it was trying to make her see every speck of detail of Hideki's suffering. She wasn't sure if it was the sudden spike of her anger going through the roof or if it were the tears but her visions started to get blurry. Grasping her blade with a tight grip the Yamanaka let out a cry while she tried to shoot up. The cold anger and frustration numbed the pain of before as only one goal seemed to matter. Driven by the sudden influx of emotion and desire Saki would dash forwards. Grabbing the hilt of her sword with both hands she didn't care for it that the ominous foe's unarmed hand shot forwards. A loud thud would followed by a screeching sound of metal slowly slicing through a hard substance.

Grunting Saki tried to ignore the sharp pain at her shoulder as the fist of the dreadful figure had slammed right against her pauldron. Which had caused a dent and she wasn't sure if it had somehow pierced through the padding underneath. Yet her sword had cleaved deep into the chest of her opponent. Even forcing the foe to drop on a knee. Releasing another shout of anger, agony and pain Saki tried to drive the Dragonsteel blade deeper into her foe. She briefly saw in her mind all the moments she had with Hideki. And what could have been if she hadn't been sloppy! If Hideki hadn't need to be forced to sacrifice himself for her!

The foe in the black armour had gotten silent as the sword cleaved further into its chest. No crimson liquid moved out of the wound that would have ended the life of ten tough warriors. No wheeze or gasp of air had escaped the helmet. "Die!" Saki started to yell as she jerked her blade out and tried to deliver another blow, this time wanting to smite the helmet in half. Before she could land the blow a shockwave emitted from the armoured figure, blasting Saki and those in close vicinity away from the figure. A bloodcurling screech followed, making the enemy troops waver and even attempt to fall back.

"Cover the lieutenant!"

Saki managed to breathe but the world was spinning as a high pitched ring made every voice and sound seem so far away. Laying on her left side, the gloved fingers of her right hand still tight around the handle of her blade, she couldn't do more than to look through her eyelashes. A few meters away was where Hideki lied, the enemy's weapon still stuck in him. Grunting Saki tried to reach out as she couldn't muster the strength to get up. A metal taste became evident in her mouth as the ambient sounds of the fighting around her started to become clearer.

"...!"

The hint of a voice peeked out of the cacophonous sound of metal clashing.

"Saki!"

The voice grew closer and clearer.

"Saki!"

Katsu's slid to a stop as he reached the edge of the crowd, where the soldiers were trying to get up from the ground. He noticed Saki and was about to go and help her up but hesitated. The armoured figure in the center made Katsu tense up, with the hollow scar in the armour giving no hint of humanity. He ran next to Saki and knelt. "Can you... move?" he asked, distraught, looking over at the figure and back to Saki rapidly.

"Get her out of here!" Koike shouted before he would appear in Saki's vision. A worried expression was evident on his dirtied face. "Come on, we need to get her out of here, now!" Koike instructed Katsu as he threw a look at the enemy troops. They were wavering and were an easy prey for the allied forces. Spotting the source of the deafening screech, Koike felt his blood turn cold. Wanting to try to finish the thing, he figured that they were already taunting their luck by not just getting the hell out of the camp. "Try to carry her, I will be behind you guys." Koike instructed his friend as he spotted Hideki on the ground.

The grip on her sword was still tight and the desire to reach out and make sure that Hideki was still alive. That he still could be saved and be with her drove Saki to keep reaching out. Tears started to roll over her cheeks as the realization sinked in that she couldn't do anything. When a familiar voice rang through the chaos of the violence around her, the pale blue eyes tried to find the source. Saki's lips parted as she wanted to reply but soon her gaze moved back to where Hideki lied. All that the young woman could produce was a soft whimper as the adrenaline and anger started to ebb away, lessening the numbing effect and thus making the pain become more evident.

Katsu looked over at Koike hopelessly before turning to Saki. "I... Okay, I'll..." He grabbed the underside of her upper arms and tried to get her halfway up, but his strength didn't allow it. He wasn't particularly strong, and his worn out state didn't help his efforts. After a second or two, he realized he couldn't carry her. "This... might hurt a bit," he said apologetically. "Hang in there." He took firm steps back, locking his elbows under her arms to drag her further away from the enemy. His steps slowly started to hasten, as he looked back from time to time. "Someone... Help," he muttered weakly as he dragged his friend across the red dyed ground, bumping into the odd corpse now and then.

A grim realisation dawned on Koike as he knelt next to Hideki. The face of the Hyuuga was pale and there was no light visible in his eye. Cursing softly underneath his breath, Koike would jerk the blade out of the Hyuuga's body before hoisting Hideki on his shoulders. Grunting as Koike tried to ignore his own exhaustion, pain and emotional state, he would start walking while shouting that they should fall back. The enemy wasn't yet mounting an attempt to attack them but Koike didn't want to make any assumption that they would remain frightened forever. Spotting Katsu struggling, Koike bite his lower lip. For a moment he was conflicted about carrying Hideki, dead or not, back to the allied camp or help Katsu to move Saki away. "Come on, we just need to get out of the camp." Koike would say to Katsu but his voice wasn't friendly or polite. It was hoarse and reflected Koike's own vision on their current situation.

Staring as she was dragged by Katsu, Saki couldn't push herself to do anything. She wanted to implore to Katsu that it wouldn't be of any use. That her future had been taken away of her. That she had failed and should be left behind. But the pain of her loss made it impossible to speak up. As Koike managed to catch up, Saki blinked as she tried to see through the blurry vision of her tears. A soft sobbing sound came from Saki before it shifted into an incomprehensible sound that had more anger than sorrow in it. Finding some of her strength back, Saki tried to get up on her own, which created briefly an awkward moment as Katsu was half dragging her. "Let me go! Let me go!" She cried, already wanting to raise her weapon and storm back at the direction they came from. If they had taken her future, she wouldn't just let herself be dragged back to their camp.

As Saki resisted, Katsu almost let go before tightening his grip, unable to move while simultaneously trying to reel her in. "Stop!" He tried to catch his breath even while struggling to keep her from freeing herself. He turned to Koike, seeing him carrying a body. Seeing he couldn't get help from him, he tried to pull again. "We're... We're gonna die if we don't get out! We have to leave..." He could feel his legs grow weak each time he lifted them off the ground. His arms ached and his stomach turned. His hold on Saki weakened to the point it wouldn't be too difficult to break free anymore. "I... I don't want you to die. I don't want him to die. I don't want to die. So please, let's just... go," he muttered as the roar of the enemy rose again in the distance.

The shift in Saki's behaviour couldn't be called entirely surprising. It was just that it was clear that the timing was bad as they just had managed to move out of the enemy camp. Hearing the roar of the enemy rose, Koike realise he had to make a choice. Too much regret he was forced to drop Hideki's body from his shoulder. Ignoring the soft crisping sound of snow being weighted down by Hideki's body, Koike would lend a helping hand. Using all the strength he had, the young man would help to pull Saki away. "Another day, Saki. We need to go! Please!" He shared Katsu's desire of not seeing either of them or himself die just yet. While managing to drag the Yamanaka away from the enemy camp, Koike threw one glance with regret at the corpse of Hideki.

Saki didn't want to hear them. Trying to break free, she literally couldn't care anymore. Managing to almost get loose from Katsu's grip, she already cursed in Yakimara towards the enemy camp. Only to feel somebody else helping Katsu to pull her away. Screaming more curses, Saki tried to push both Katsu and Koike away but gave up after a few tries. Instead she tried once more every once and while to break free while being dragged back over to their own camp.

It had all gone relatively well. The enemy hadn't managed to launch a counter-attack fast enough to disrupt the allied force falling back. A contingent had tried to catch up but the preparations had been placed in order and any offensive manouvre of the enemy was disencouraged. Yet there wasn't a festive atmosphere as the troops who participated in the raid came back. There were many wounded and it hadn't been without any sacrifices. Once back into the Imperial camp, Koike would together with Katsu drag Saki to the section of the 13th brigade, to his own battalion. Ordering his captains first, he would request a dozen of troops to be ready to guard somebody.

"Come," he would grumble to both Saki and Katsu as he would continue to drag Saki to his own tent, "It is going to be okay." Now that they weren't in the view of others Koike would shot a worried look at Katsu. Allowing Saki to sit down, the young man released a sigh and patted Katsu's shoulder. "Well fought. If you want, stay but if you want to get some rest of your own, that won't be an issue." He whispered to Katsu, though he was craving for some sleep himself.

Katsu meekly nodded to Koike, collapsing onto a wooden chair, heavly breathing in and out to catch his breath. He looked over at Koike and Saki, trying to come up with something to say, but simply stared at them.

Saki remained silent as she sat down on a carpet. Her eyes and cheeks had a red taint from crying and the young woman had no energy to resist against the dreadful realisation of what had happened. Though she had attempted to break free and scream death threats at the enemy's address in Yakimara, Saki had given up on her attempts the moment that they had reached camp. Staring down, the young woman didn't seem to register what happened or what people said around her. Her lips parted briefly as if she was about to say something but she opted to remain silent for another long moment.

"I am sorry."
Her voice was hoarse and at the same time soft. Unable to throw a look at either Katsu and Koike, Saki would remain where she was as she repeated it three times in the same soft fashion.

Seeing that Katsu would collapse onto a wooden chair, Koike shot a worried look at his friend. Only to hear what Saki said. His eyes narrowed as his hands clenched into fists. Turning around, the young man would make a shadow clone. The latter would quickly take a leave and head out of the tent while Koike turned back to the two. He wanted to say something but felt like any attempt to comfort Saki wouldn't work now. Neither for Katsu. And if he had to be honest, he felt exhausted himself. Yet at the same time he felt like it was his duty and objective to remain composed and show no kind of weakness. Just so that the other two could rely on him.

It hadn't been easy and Koike would not have been surprised if his shadow clone had been caught and destroyed. But the enemy had some trouble to reorganize and tighten the defence on the other side of the river. In the dark of the night and the aftermath of the raid, his shadow clone had went back to retrieve Hideki's body and carry it back. Once his shadow clone had managed to get back, Koike instructed some wood to form a pyre as well a few of Skuli's men to be present, to keep any curious person away from the site just outside camp. Once preparations were done Koike would go together with Saki and Katsu to the prepared pyre. The silence between them was heavy and Koike wasn't certain how to drive it away. Once they arrived he could only feel some sort of anger at his own failure to have done anything to prevent the loss. And yet hoping that the slain Guardian was now in a more peaceful place.

Arriving at the site outside of the camp, Saki's lips trembled. Her hands would form trembling fists as she saw Hideki. Ignoring the large wound he seemed to be at peace. His complexion was lighter but there was no expression of pain or agony visible on his features. Stepping forwards Saki took a closer look, reaching out to one of Hideki's hands. Feeling the uncomfortable cold of a corpse, Saki briefly closed her eyes as lowering her head. There were so many things that she wanted to say. But no word would pass from her lips as she sqeeuzed lightly into Hideki's hand. Taking a deep breath the Yamanaka would gaze once more on the Hyuuga's face before stepping backwards.

Katsu watched quietly as his friends grieved their losses. As the heartbroken Yamanaka went to the side of the dead, he tried to think of some words of comfort, anything he could say to ease their pain. Yet all he could do was stand there, feeling sad not for the dead, but those who mourned them.

Watching Saki for a moment, Koike was at a loss of words. He wanted to say that Hideki was now at peace but the ugly truth was: Koike wasn't certain. He wasn't that particular close to Hideki and thus wasn't feeling comfortable saying that. With the lack of knowledge in what kind of afterlife Hideki or his people believed in, Koike hoped that the Hyuuga had died with knowing he managed to succeed in protecting Saki. Throwing a glance to a nearby soldier, Koike would turn half around and reach out his hand. The soldier nodded and handed over a torch. Once holding the torch, Koike would take a few steps forward and hold it up, for Saki to take.

Her lower lip started to tremble as she couldn't imagine this to be the truth. Somehow Saki was still hoping, desiring, that this was all nothing but a bad and dreadful dream. That she would wake up in her bed, just afraid to then feel Hideki's warmth next to her. The memories that she had with Hideki started to flow through her mind as tears gently rolled down her cheeks. Noticing some movement in the corner of her eyes, Saki slightly turned. Spotting Koike holding the torch towards her, Saki also saw Katsu. More tears started to flow from the young woman's eyes as her hands briefly clenched into trembling fists. Then she slowly accepted the torch and subtly nodded towards Koike.

Turning towards the pyre on which Hideki had been laid on, Saki just remembered the first time that they had met. Usually, it would make her feel a bit embarrassed on how she had acted. On telling Hideki that she had found the walls of the restaurant nice. She remembered that night further by their first kiss. The memories kept passing her mind as she slowly walked towards the pyre. Almost as if her body had a mind of its own, the torch would be lowered to ignite some spots and start the fire. By the last spot, Saki would gently lay down the torch and take a few steps back. Watching the flames starting to grow and slowly obscuring the view of Hideki, Saki tried to look away. Yet the sight of Hideki laying calm in his tarnished Guardian gear. No expression of pain or fear. It became too much.

Dropping to her knees, Saki's hands would travel upwards as she couldn't stop the tears anymore.

In Amegakure.
Team 8 with Sho Deshuga.

A collab between Fieryfly, Jason, Tim, Inzane and Lesli.

Summary:
The team that is following Aiko's leadership manages to enter the prison facility in Amegakure. The heavily fortified complex harbours some of the most dangerous criminals of the Rain province, including Soru Deshuga. With Sho being able to verify that Soru is indeed still in chains in the dark, trouble seems to be on the rise.

Part 1

Part 2

[spoili]
It seemed that while he and Aiko had been chatting it up with Soru, everything else had gone to shit. Sho's eyes quickly swept over the various enemies that they were now suddenly facing. A strange sensation washed over him as he saw Aiko's students going at the men who Sho supposed were here to get Soru out. Like Aiko predicted. And sure these men were undoubtedly evil but Sho was still somewhat taken aback as the guy named Kazumo going down on one of them. That guy would never get up again with a stab to the neck like that. It was crowded in the narrow hallway with everyone fighting and Sho was in the back. Annoyed he shot a look at Aiko to see if she would object before moving forwards. A good thing about being small was that manouvering between things or people was easy. He saw a guy going for Kazumo and moved in only to have Neji cut him off by throwing a kunai in the man's neck. The guy fell down and landed face first before Sho's feet. Dead. Sho decided not to look. He moved on to the next guard, dodging his outstretched weapon and going in for straight up kick to the knee followed by an elbow to the face as the man inevitably fell down.

The jounin simply watched as the guards were taken quickly down, only subtly nodding as Sho had thrown a glance in her direction. The green eyes didn't hint what the woman experience or think while observing the scenario. The only combatant that remained was Hiraku with an enemy but the chuunin managed to take the rogue guard down in a quick counter-attack. Silence followed after the brief skirmish and it was when Aiko would walk forward. "I notice that you guys tend to throw weapons while others are in close quarters. Let this be the last time that you will try to hit a mark on an enemy while the space of movement is already crowded." Aiko instructed her team in a stern tone. She crouched briefly at the nearest guard. He seemed not apart from the previous and regular guards that they had encountered at first glance. Checking the man for identification papers, however, seemed to reveal that he wasn't what he seemed to be. With the papers absent, it was clear that they had been let inside.

"Seems that they didn't expect much resistance. But I doubt that these are the only moles inside the prison complex." With some visible disdain on the woman's features, she would rise up and shake her head lightly. She then shot a sideways glance towards Kazumo, speaking briefly in Chonobi. "I want you to make sure that they are all dead." Once that order had been given, she would shift back to Taika. "We can't just move out so we are going to hold up here. Kazumo, drag the bodies to the back. I want you to check for anything that seems off. Hastly written papers and that kind. Tomiko, you hold guard and watch for movement. Neji, you cover her and you two fall back the moment Tomiko notices movement up ahead. Hiraku, you help Kazumo dragging the bodies and once you're done, you are going to support Tomiko and Neji. Sho, you are going with me." The woman dished out the orders in a stern tone as she would turn around towards the cell in the back where Soru was located. She wasn't certain if Liaru would be so much of a loyal lapdog to get his imprisoned master himself but she doubted it. Else he would have been here from the start.and then things would have been quite different.

Standing in front of Soru's cell, Aiko focused some chakra around her right hand. The swirling blue quickly shifted into a grey colour as a soft but menacing sound would herald the changing composition of the chakra. Focusing and sharpening the wind chakra, Aiko would cut through the lock. Pushing the door open, she would nod towards Sho. "I don't think blood should flow between relatives. Not certain how you locals here think about that but a challenge is a challenge. Try to roughen him up if you feel like it. I suspect that if Liaru is around, he will come running once he hears the scum wailing. Just," Aiko shot Sho a meaningful glance, "Don't try to kill him just yet. I can cover it up but I rather not do the extra work."

The battle was over for now, the men that had come to most likely release Sho's father from jail were taken out. Though there was a very good chance that these were not the only enemies that were in this prison. Neji turned to look back at Aiko sensei as she bgean to speak. Neji nodded his head when he heard that he would be support for Tomiko. The two of them were to guard the hallway. If either of them saw any movement, then they were both supposed to fall back imediately. Neji walked over to the man he killed and grabbed the kunai sticking out of the back of his neck. Neji looked down at the man and sighed, he still was getting to used to having to kill people. He knew that to survive in this line of work you had to fight and most of time kill you enemy. He understood that, but he was still a kid after all and this was taking a little bit of time to get used to. He tried not to show it, they were out on a mission and he needed to keep his focus to make sure that he and his comrades made it home safe, He wiped off the blood on his kunai blade onto his pants and put it back into his pouch. He walked over and got into a support postion behind a little ways back from Tomiko and made sure he stayed alert, they could be attacked any second.

"Y-yes ma'am!" Tomiko said quickly and quietly, forming a single seal as her vision suddenly expanded. She could see those in their cells, taking part in idle activities. Her allies all around, and further down the dark hallway. Without looking back towards the Uchiha, she spoke quickly. "Uchiha-san, can you keep watch with your sharingan? You might pick up a projectile and be able to react much quicker than me." She said, before loosely getting an arrow ready in case it was needed soon enough.

Hiraku simply nodded and stepped forward to grab the nearest body. Dragging it quickly to the back, the man wasn't particularly fond of this sort of work. But in this case, I was certainly nessecary. Even so, a small sigh left Hiraku's lips as he dragged the body away. Hopefully nothing else would happen while he was back here, the man certainly worried when it came to Tomiko handling herself in a fight in close quarters like this...

Kazumo turned at the last moment to see one of the gaurds coming at him, raising the knife to defend himself, the kunai blade of Neji's would hit it's mark in the back of the man's neck. While this did save him, it still caused a frown to form as yet another projectile was flung in his direction. The quick fight slowed to a halt as it appeared all the guards were dead. Which thankfully afterwards Aiko instructed that using projectile in close quarters while your ally is there, wont be tolerated any further. Thats when he was given orders in Chonobi to make sure they were all actually dead to which he nodded and moved towards the bodies knife in hand. While being given another order to drag the bodie to the back, while looking for anything of importance.

One by one he would check a body then drag it to the back, where they basically carried nothing on them besides a letter of entry and a small pouch of money. Nothing worthy to mention about and nothing worthy to take either. As he was about to drag one body, the man groaned at being touched. Kazumo looked at the figure and its slight shuffling, who had some serious bruising on his face. Kazumo with blade in hand placed the blade against the neck and in a quick motion slit the man's throat. The blood would spurt a bit before pouring dow the man's neck, ceasing all movement from the man. Kazumo would then resume dragging the bodies to the back.

Sho stared at Aiko. And then at the now open door before him behind which his father laid shackled to a wall. It surprised him that he didn't immediately lunge forwards. This must be what he had always wanted right? He told Ryoku so that day in the rain. He had told the man that because Soru was now locked up, he could never beat him for all that he did. That since Soru was locked away, Sho could no longer reach him. He had been annoyed and angry that day. He had lost his goal in life. But now that he was standing before that goal, he suddenly felt a strange disconnect from it. Oh, he hated his dad with all the passion in the world, especially after those few exchanged words just now. He recalled them, the taunts about his mother, and felt his anger rise. The feeling, however, was immediately dampened when he realised that that was exactly what Soru had said he should and would do. Sho didn't want to take any fucking orders from his father, certainly not on how to feel. But the anger felt so familiar and comforting and the door was opening.

Sho stepped inside the cell, trying to ignore the fact that Aiko was behind him, most likely watching him. A rather distasteful smell hit him in the face and he wrinkled his nose in disgust. Soru was lying the position as before, which was unsurprising as the man didn't have many options to move to another possibly more comfortable position. He was already staring intently at the door, presumably because someone just sliced through lock. When he saw Sho, however, he scoffed. The little sound ticked Sho off more than it should.

"Expecting someone else?" Sho said sarcastically to the man.

"A man can dream," Soru said unconcerned. "Finally mustered some actual courage and step towards your old man, I see. I would almost be impressed if you hadn't sounded like a whining baby just now. How did you convince Miss Red Hair to cut you a path to me?" He seemed genuinely interested, but Sho didn't care. He stepped forwards until he stood right before the slumped man chained to the wall.

"I'm not you," he said softly, hoping that Aiko wasn't paying attention.

Soru smirked. "What was that? Couldn't hear you over your freaking fear."

With a swift move Sho punched him in the face. Soru's head shot to the left with a painful sounding crack of his neck, but the man didn't blink. As Sho pulled his hand back, Soru's head shot back to him as if nothing happened. A red streak of blood made its way down over his lips to his chin. "What was that? Man, even your mother pulled better punch-" Wham! Sho's fist struck him again. And again. And again. And again With clenched fists, the boy went to town on the face of his father.

"I'm not like you!" he roared when he slammed his fist for a fifth time into the side of Soru's head. Soru's head lolled back and then fell forwards, blood dripping from his mouth. Despite his miserable looking state, he scoffed, spit on the ground and then, with some effort, lifted his head again. "Certainly look, sound, and act like me though," he said with some difficulty.

"Shut up." Sho's hand found its way around Soru's neck.

"Make me," Soru replied, taunting the young boy. But Sho didn't move, didn't change or strengthen his grip. He seemed to be contemplating something. "Lost your nerve?" Soru raised himself up a bit. "Should have seen that coming."

"No."

Soru painfully raised an eyebrow. "What?"

Sho dropped his hands and took a step back. "No, I see what this is. This is what you want me to do." He took a couple of deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself down. "You are doing that thing that you always do and make me do exactly what you want me to do, not what I want." Sho clenched his fists.

"We all know you don't really have a strong mind of your own. You need the guidance."

Wham! Another blow against his head. This time Soru did not raise his head again. "I don't fucking need your guidance. I can find my own path in life." He spat on the ground, looked at his bloody knuckles for a moment and turned around. "I don't need you."

"Yes you do," came the pained reply as Soru coughed up blood. "What are you going to push against otherwise?"

Sho didn't reply.

From her position at the opened door of Soru's cell, Aiko could overview the progress of Kazumo and Sho's tasks. Her arms were crossed over each other while she leaned against the door opening. The woman first threw a look at how Kazumo was doing. The Sarutobi genin was performing her instructions without as much of a complaint or sign of disagreeing. Which was thus no source of a worry. Overhearing the 'reunion' between Sho and Soru, Aiko threw a look into the dark room. As expected, she couldn't really see much and had to follow the conversation with just hearing what was verbally exchanged between son and father. For a moment Aiko wondered if she had made a mistake but as the conversation went on, she had gained no regret from her decision. From the talk it was clear that neither Sho or Soru seemed to be aligned with the goals of the Zealots.

Pushing her back off the dooropening, Aiko would take a few steps up the hallway. Thus allowing Sho to leave the room without perhaps feeling that the jounin wanted to question him. The guy likely had enough troubling his mind, she assumed. "Okay, get ready. We are going to st---" Before the jounin could even finish her sentence a loud sound rang from the distance. It was faint but it seemed to be bells tolling. An alarm was rang. "Okay, time to improvise, I guess." Aiko grumbled softly as quickly after her comment loud sounds came from above. Shouts and the faint sound of clashing steel were the evident herald of trouble heading their way.
"Everybody stay sharp. Our objective is to prevent anybody from getting cozy with Soru Deshuga." The jounin ordered as she would throw a look around. "If things go sour, keep falling back." She further added as the sounds became louder. For a moment Aiko wondered if she could else take Soru's life. It would make this less complex and demanding for the team. Then they just needed to get out. And if she wouldn't leave too many traces, perhaps she could have herself be covered.

A group of a dozen guards came downwards. Spots of blood covered some parts of their clubs and uniforms and the prison guards came to a halt when they would encounter Tomiko and Neji first. "Halt! Drop your weapons, nice and easy, kids." One of the men, a few stripes on the right shoulder of his dark grey uniform marking him as a higher ranked guard, instructed them. Hearing from her position what was being demanded, Aiko narrowed her eyes as she would gesture to Kazumo and Sho to remain back - thus closer to the cell of Soru. Walking forward and thus coming in sight of the guards, she was about to say something. Only for a strong gust of wind traveling down the hallway and sweeping the guards off their feet. In a quick response, Aiko would form three handsignals in a rapid succession. Utilizing the Wind Wall technique, she would try to form a blockade of wind chakra in front of herself, Neji and Tomiko. Barely was it in time as a faint shockwave would still push the three nin backwards by a step.

" Yes of course I can do that, though I'm sure your Byakugan would pick it up." Neji at that moment activated his sharingan, his eyes turning to a deep shade of red as he scanned the hallway ahead of them. As of the moment things seemed to be clear which cuases Neji to relax for a moment. He continued to scan ahead though including looking at Tomiko who was directly in front of him with her bow at the ready. Neji held a kunai blade in his hand as he thought about mission so far. Neji refocused as he continued to scan the hallway, he quickly took a glance at Tomiko as he stared at her for a moment, noticing different things about her. Neji blushed but then his mind shifted as he faintly heard two voices yellng at each other. One voice was a voice he knew. Sho was one of the voices who was yelling, and Neji assumed that the other voice belonged to the prisoner that they were trying to keep away from the zealots. That prisoner was Sho's father and it seemed that they two of them were in a yelling match. Neji could faitinly hear what they were saying. Then they yelling stopped and it quiet for a moment, thats when Aiko sensei started to speak up. Just as she started to give out an order there was another sound, it was an alarm sounding and then the sound of iron clashing and heading their way.

Neji got ready as his sharingan scanned the hallway and he gripped his kunai blade tightly. Neji stepped forward as a group of guards stood at the end of the hall. The highest ranking guard told them to drop their weaopns. Neji thought through different scenarios in his head, he figured they had the advatage with Tomiko's bow at the ready, but the enemy had them outnumbered. Just then the men that Neji thought he was about to engage in combat fell to the ground, Neji himeself was pushed back a step as a shockwave had hit them, thats when he was able to see that Aiko sensei was right behind him now, which helped calm his nerves a bit.

The girl saw the guards coming, and motioned for the Uchiha to move back a little, as she remembered Aiko ordering before. She took aim towards the guards, as the shapes in her Byakugan began to take focus. Whenever the guards ordered them to drop their weapons, Tomiko simply adjusted her aim for just in front of the guard. As Kazumo had done beforehand. "Can't." She replied simply, hoping her voice was shaking too much. Almost immdiately the gaurds tumbled to the ground as she spotted a strong gust of chakra surging towards them, only for a wall of chakra to form between the group and the gust. The shockwave still forced the genin to stagger back a few steps, before she regained her balance. Immdiately she let her arrow fly back down the hall, over the gaurds who had yet to get back up towards the newest sight. "Large group of armed opponents coming this way!" She said towards the others, taking another step back as she drew another arrow. Her voice caught for a moment, as she noticed another detail of the group. When she spoke again, her voice was slightly higher in pitch than before, shaking a bit from fear. "Odd Chakra signature among them. I think its another one of those things." The genin said, looking quickly towards Aiko to see what her orders were before turning her attention back down the hall.

Hiraku heard the noises, and stepped back into the hall. The Chuunin assumed that he grouped in with Kazumo and Sho, given that he had been working with them previously. Though when he heard Tomiko's scared tone, he immdiately moved forward just a bit. Figuring Aiko would tell him to get back if needed, but worried about his little sister. Hiraku's vision expanded as he activated the Byakugan, and he saw the enemies coming in, along with the odd chakra signature among them. It was strange, yes, but Hiraku wasn't exactly sure why such a signature seemed to scare Tomiko so much. With a small sigh, he got ready for a fight as he stood just behind Aiko and the two up front.

His task was done with all the dead guards being moved towards the back, nothing of value to report about just more blood on his hands. Aiko was starting to speak up when she would be cut off by the sound of an alarm going off, have they been found out? How though? None of these guards were able to report in, or maybe thats why the alarm was going off? Yet they werent given much time before sounds of trouble were at their doorstep. Aiko told them their objective was to keep them from getting to Soru Deshuga, which was apparently Sho's father, she threw in that if things went sour to keep falling back. Yet how far back could they go before they reached his cell? What approached them was way more than what he thought would show up. A dozen guards arrived on the scene, only blood was already on their gear and weapons, this was making more sense as to why the alarm was going off now. Aiko gestured to him and Sho to remain back, to probably keep a better watch on their objective while Neji, Tomiko and herself confronted the guards.

As he was moving back as they were talking he saw that the guards were swept off their feet by something, prompting Aiko to form a wind wall to guard them from this attack, while he was affected by the shockwave he could tell it was powerful enough to push back the three of them. Tomikos statement didn't ease any worries either. Guards were one thing, but if one of those things that implanted that vision in him was here. Things became way more complicated then it needed to be. To be on the safe side, he would notch an arrow in his bow and wait to see how the situation progressed.

Sho was almost glad that there was a fight coming up. It would take his mind of things that he just really didn't want to think about right now. He was about to go forwards, away from the dreaded cell when Aiko gestured for him and the other guy to stay back. Sho grumbled something, but complied, fixing his eyes on the enemies before them in the hallway. With inteterst he watched the woman perform a rather impressive wind wall to guard them from... something. Sho's interest really peaked up however when he heard the Hyuuga state that there was an odd chakra signature among the enemies. 'One of them' she called it. Sho didn't know much about chakra signatures in general, but he did know that there had been a strange creature in the post office with a strange chakra signature, according to others. Was this one of those? In that case, he definitely wanted nothing to do with it. That thing racked open his back last time and that was in a relatively open space. Here they were sitting ducks in a hallway. Horrible place for a fight with lots of people. But if he wanted to get out of this mess he would have to go through the enemies in front of thim. Sho shot the guy next to him a look as he notched an arrow on his bow. Ranged weapons weren't his thing honestly, so he wasn't quiet sure what to do in the back. In the end he made sure that he took a defensive stance and held his fists and chakra ready for the upcoming fight. Sometimes waiting was all one could do after all.

| ??? & Korina Kusanagi | The Wolf Country | The Night of the Allied Raid | Rénese Forces & Allied Forces |

One of the Guardians raised his spear to rally his allies. "We have them on the back foot! Cut them up! For the Em--" Before he could finish his rally cry, his body flew down to the ground with an arrow sticking through the side of his chest, pinning him down on the ground firmly.

Above on a higher point up the hill of the southern border of the camp, a young woman stood with a large bow and black arrow in hand, staring at the scene to find her next target. Another one of the enemy soldiers seemed to be running to her fallen ally, who was still alive, even if only able to express his thoughts through unintelligible gurgles of blood. Soon, an arrow found its way through her knees, crippling her just as she was about to reach her friend.

"You coward!" a smug voice said from above as Korina jumped down towards her. She quickly rolled out of the way as the assailant's sword dug into the dirt. "Hehe... Not bad." As she stood upright, Korina looked at her opponent as if waiting for a response, an acknowledgement. After a moment, her face grew sour.

The westerner let out a roar as she followed quickly, swinging her fist wildly to the young woman's face. As the punch was parried, Korina's anger started boiling up, and she swung her other hand with a hook. The young woman ducked and twisted the fist to force her opponent to lose her balance. Korina fell on the ground next to the young woman.

As she got up again, Korina dove in once more, her hand glowing with chakra. The fist stopped inches away from the young woman's face, the eastern warrior's hand grasping it tightly and holding it in place. The young woman offered the confused soldier a mischievous smile before her grasp tightened and her foot shot forward, quickly followed by the other foot around the right side, throwing Korina into a tree with crimson liquid oozing from her body. She looked down at the fist still in her hand as Korina snapped back to reality. Her eyes grew as she gazed down at her elbow, missing her lower arm.

"Hmph. You were talking big up until now. Are you all just talk, then?" asked the young woman in her own tongue.

Korina gritted her teeth with a shiver before uttering two words. "Fffffuck yyyyou!"

The young woman nocked the arrow on her bow, sighing as she drew it back. "Suit yourself," she said. As she let go of the string, the young woman could spot a change of heart on her prey's face as a brief plea could be heard in the split second before her head caved in, half tearing off the body. The arrow pierced the bark, pinning the head to it, its expression no longer intelligible. Roars rose from the camp as some soldiers were climbing up to her vantage point. Clicking her tongue, the young woman broke off into a sprint, making her way towards the main camp.

[spoili]
The chaos that followed confused the guards by a lot. While some got up and tried to get a visual on what had attacked them from the back, the shouts of other people rang loud through the small hallway. Indicating that another group was about to descend down the hallway. The guards that managed to get up and realised that they were attacked in the back shuffled more towards Team 8 while uncertain if the few shinobi would now attack them in the back. A figure would appear around the corner and seemed to calmly seize up the situation. The cold aura spread from the figure, who seemed to be nothing more than a simple guard.

Before any of the guards could react, the sound of boots would ring louder. Heralding the impending clash between a group of armed men in regular clothing, carrying bladed weaponry in their hands, against the guards. Realising the danger as she lost track of the figure, Aiko would gesture her team to move backwards.
"Don't let anybody get through!" The jounin ordered as she would draw a kunai. One of the guards broke from the fragile formation, trying to find some refuge at the team. Before he wasn't able to make much progress, Aiko kicked the man backwards. "We need to keep hold of the objective." The jounin repeated as she tried to buy some time for the team to move a bit back, closer to Soru's cell. The guards, however, started to suffer severe losses as the enemy tried to keep the momentum up.
Trying to spot the disguised and dreadful 'figure' out of the dozen of enemies was just impossible. And performing a wind blade would be not beneficial as she couldn't waste any chakra to just locate an specific enemy among the group. Backing away, Aiko hoped that the others were ready for the fight that they couldn't run from.

"Kazumo, you take the lead. I will pick out the figure and move him away!" Aiko shouted over her right shoulder as she hoped that they all were ready. Around four seconds later the enemy would collide on their ranks. The first enemy that Aiko faced was a man that wielded a machete. Trying to go for a hew from above, the jounin plunged forwards with her kunai. The short weapon was easier to utilize in such closer quarters as Aiko hoped that the others would try to block as many enemies as possible from just slipping through. Stabbing her foe in the neck, Aiko gritted her teeth as she would set all strength behind the following push. Jerking the kunai out, Aiko already prepared for the next strike, only to feel an intense cold coming from the front. The first man, that had been stabbed in the neck, would collapse on the ground after the push. Only to be replaced by a calm appearing figure with a long dagger. Realising that she had to act quickly, Aiko would open her left hand as chakra would pulse through her system. Spotting that the odd opponent moved in with a stab, Aiko managed to avoid the attack by a pivot. Grabbing the wrist, a cold sensation crept over her fingertops. While the jounin attempted to plunge her kunai into the neck area of the oddly calm opponent, a light green chakra would envelop the jounin and her opponent. Only resulting that both seemed to vanish into thin air.

The situation seemed to get more hetic by the second, as it turned out the guards that had shown up were indeed actual guards, the ones showing up afterwards with a cold sensation among the group, most likely weren't part of the guard. The order to not let any through was given, which prompted him to pulll back on his bowstring trying to find an opening to shoot from without grazing his allies. As they moved back on Aiko's gesture the actual guards weren't doing very well as their numbers were depleting down to nothing. Admist his concentration, Aiko would tell him to take the lead which caused him to throw a quick look of confusion at her before focusing on the approaching enemy. Spotting a gap to fire from, his arrow would fly through it hitting one guard with a short sword that was running towards their ranks. The arrow would strike in the neck, causing the man to grip the arrow only to fall to the ground. Aiko seemed to have taken care of one as well and was startring to engage another, only when she grabbed him a light green aura would envelop both her and the guy and then they both were wisked away. "What the fuck?! Sho move up and replace Tomiko. Tomiko provide cover fire! Remember to protect the objective!" Kazumo stated as he himself would also move up to cover the gap that appeared when Aiko vanished with that one man.

Placing his bow back on his back, he would pull out his knife for close quarters, which soon found one man approaching him thrusting his sword at him. Kazumo moved his body to the right to dodge, then wrapped his left arm around the man's extended one, so he couldn't pull the blade back, and would stab his knife into the man's neck and then twisted it. He could hear the gurgling sound coming from the man, as he jerked the knife out and let the adult male collapse to the ground. Despite two being taken down, it sure didn't feel like it before another person trying to get to Sho's dad engaged him.

Neji with his sharingan activated watched as another group of "guards" made their way down the narrow hallway, Neji for a brief moment felt the same cold chakra that he had felt back at the zealots hideout. Neji shuttered for a second as that cold really got to him but, he then quickly tried to refocus on the task at hand. Aiko gave her order for them to move back. Neji with a kunai blade in hand, walked backwards and got behind Aiko sensei. Thier orders were to not let anyone through them and get to Soru Deshuga. He saw Aiko sensei battiling with one of the armored men, next thing he knew she was gone. Neji caught a weird chakra that Aiko sensei seemed to be caught in, and then all of a sudden she was gone. "Where, where did she go?" Neji gritted his teeth and made himself ready as he had an enemy barreling down on to him. The man had a kunai blade as well, the man rushed at Neji and tried to strike down onto the top of Neji's head. Neji rolled to the right where his back hit against the wall. Neji quickly caught himself and threw a kick out at the enemies legs. The man wasn't expecting it and he tripped and fell to the ground. Neji quickly got up and struck his kunai blade into the man's neck. He watched the enemies eyes open wide in pain and then very quickly start to close as blood started to gush out of his neck. Neji took out his kunai blade from his enemie's neck. He didn't even have a chance to asses the situation before another enermy was running down at him.

Everything suddenly turned to chaos before the genin's eyes. One moment she saw Aiko ahead fighting, the next she and her opponent were simply gone. The hallway was full of charging enemies, and the girl took an uneasy step back. But then she heard Kazumo yelling out orders, and it snapped her back for a moment. Firing a quick arrow towards a man on the front line, she slung her bow and drew her ninjato as the man collapsed forward from the arrow lodged in his throat. Deciding it better to hold the line until Sho had actually reached her. Moments later the girl was twisting to avoid a sudden thrust from an enemy's sword. The girl spun the rest of the way around, bringing her weapon around in a deadly arc. However she felt a strong jolt as her blade was caught on the enemy's. Then felt a sharp pain in her stomach as he punched her with his free hand, and send the genin stumbling back. Coughing as she tried to catch the breath that had been knocked out of her, but wasn't given the chance as her enemy pressed his advantage.

Hiraku moved up to help hold the line as the enemy closed in, immdiately becoming occupied with an opponent bearing down on him weilding a hatchet. Stepping to the side to avoid the first strike, Hiraku lashed with two rapid attacks along the man's weapon arm. Hitting first the chakra point on the man's elbow, then his shoulder. His arm falling limp, the opponent immdiately attempted to hit Hiraku with his free hand. However, he saw it coming and two more strikes met the opponent, this time with both being aimed at his center of mass. On the second hit, Hiraku unleashed an air palm at point blank and the opponent shot backwards into his allies. The chuunin focused in on the next of the enemies, keeping a calm demeanor as he once more engaged an opponent. This one bearing a machete, and much faster than the one before. Using the gentle fist to help deflect the immdiate threats, Hiraku searched for an opening to use to finish this fight. Finding an opening, Hiraku hit the man directly in the center of mass. Aiming for the central point on his chakra system, and succeeding in finding his target as the opponent stumbled back. The attack taking a toll on his heart, then his life being snuffed out as Hiraku slammed a kunai into the man's chest.

Ducking under a swing meant to cleave his head off, Kazumo's left fist would move in towards the man's chest, Yet would then spin before contact, slamming right into the man's sternum. The move that Aiko had taught him proved to be effective, as the man was gasping for air. Allowing him to thrust the knife into the man's neck and slash to the side, ripping open the neck as the man collapsed, dead instanly from the attack. So far they didn't seem to be doing too poorly, except for the fact Tomiko wasn't yet moving to the back. Now she was in danger and he was stuck on the other side. "Hiraku help Tomiko! Neji try to give them some cover!" Is this how sensei felt when orders weren't going very well? Sho was doing fine with combat so far, so no complaints on that end. Although Hiraku sending people flying was a bit worrying. "No flashy attacks either!" Kazumo stated as he grabbed the hand of a man about to punch him, probably an attempt to daze him to have an easier kill. Those moves were really becoming quite handy at the moment. Only this time, one guy tried to stab Kazumo while he had this grip on the man's ally.

Using all the strenght he could, he moved the guy just enough for a blade meant from himself to wind up in his ally instead. Kazumo let go of the man, causing the guy to have to remove his own deceased friend off his own weapon, which as soon as he did. a Kunai struck him in the head, causing him to drop to the ground. This was starting to look good, the numbers were decreasing! They could actually do this!

The hallway was filled with combat, combat everywhere. Though they semmed to be winning, the enemies numbers were dwindling and they seemed to be on the ropes. Neji had taken down one enemy, but quickly had another one coming after him. Neji held his ground as the man came swinging at him with an axe. Neji put his kunai blade up to block the axe coming down on him. He held the block of the axe but, the enemy was bigger and stronger than he was and the axe was starting to get closer and closer to his head. Neji grit his teeth as he knew he had to get out of the situation. Neji and the enemy contiued to be locked in, before Neji was able to move his kunai blade out of the way and dodge to the right the enemy's axe. The man quickly swung it at Neji's head again, Neji's sharingan picked up the motion and Neji ducked down, the axe struck the wall with a lot of force causing the enemy to stumble back for a moment. This is when Neji took his shot, he shot up and stabbed his kunai blade into the man's neck, spilling more blood onto the floor as the man fell to the ground.

Neji didn't have a moment to rest before his sharingan picked up a shuriken coming flying at him. Neji tried dodging the shuriken, but it hit him in the arm and gave a large cut into his upper arm. Neji winced in pain, but had no time to rest as the enemy who threw the shuriken was barreling down on him. The enemy held a sword as he came at Neji. The man went high while Neji went low, Neji being shorter than the enemy was able to duck right under the swining sword, Neji threw a quick punch to the gut on the enemy. It struck him as the man tried to catch his breath, Neji tried to strike the man in the neck with his kunai blade, but the enemy blocked it with his arm, the enemy's arm started to bleed as he then threw a kick at Neji. Neji blocked the kick and jumped backwards. Neji then caught his breath and then ran forward and struck his kunai blade into the enemy's heart. The man gasped for air before he crashed onto the ground.

Raising her sword in an a desperate attempt to block her attacker, Tomiko was not faring well. Bleeding from multiple wounds she kept trying to stop the man but was far outclassed. As his next strike came in, the genin dodged quickly to the side and went in for a strike to his side. Expecting this, the man caught her blade on his once more. With an adept twist, he then forced Tomiko's weapon from her hand. A sick grin on his features, he got ready for the final blow as Tomiko's eyes went wide. Stunned by the sudden movement, and realization that she would die here today. She wanted to move, to dodge or flee, yet fear gripped her tightly and she was planted much like a tree. The man swung his blade towards her, a blow which would surely end the girl's life.

However, it would not connect. The man's attack stopped suddenly as his eyes went wide, and blood ran freely from the wound in his neck. From behind him, Hiraku twisted the kunai before yanking it free. "You alright?" He asked Tomiko, who still stood wide-eyed at what had just happened. She went to respond, but was cut out by a splatter of crimson from Hiraku. A high pitched scream left Tomiko's lips as Hiraku fell to his knees, clutching at the blade which had impaled him from behind. Falling to her knees beside her brother, eyes wide as she stared at the wound. As Hiraku gasped for breath, he looked towards Tomiko and something in his eyes showed he already knew what was coming.

The fact that Tomiko didn't seem to move into action to defend herself or Hiraku wouldn't be a chance wasted by the Hiraku's attacker. The man narrowed his eyes as he stepped forwards, the point of his blade surging forwards to the girl. Steel punctured through clothing, flesh and blood as a gasp followed. But the man's weapon was frozen before it had even managed to impale Tomiko. A gloved hand grasped firmly the wrist of the man's hand, that held the weapon. A soft grunt escaped Aiko as she would twist her own kunai in the man's abodemen before jerking the weapon out. As the attacker collapsed on a knee, wheezing from the pain, the butt of Aiko's kunai would be slammed into the man's face. Vaguely a soft hue of green chakra would vanish from the jounin, who lightly panted as dark stains were visible on her clothing and gear. Raising her left hand to swipe some sweat and blood from her face, Aiko threw a look at the dying conflict. She noticed that Sho had also particated in the bloodshed. Holding a knife, the redhaired chuunin was breathing heavily as his eyes scanned the bodies that laid on the floor. Aiko noticed that the boy didn't seem to be in bad shape, allowing herself to throw a look at how Kazumo and Neji were handling themselves.

Neji panted as he tried to catch his breath from the ongoing battle. Neji winced in pain as he quickly looked over at his deep cut on his upper arm. He bit his bottom lip as he contiued to scan the room, at this point they had the battle in hand as therre were only a few more enemies left. Neji caught the battke Tomiko and Hiraku were partaking in. Neji's eyes widened as he saw Hiraku get struck from behind with a blade. Neji watched as the enemy who killed Hiraku was getting reacy to strke Tomiko who was just stared at him not moving. " Tomiko, watch out!' Just as he said that, Aiko sensei returned out of nowhere and killed the enemy. Neji once again saw that weird green aura/chakra appeared around her again. Neji quickly turned his head as his sharingan picked up an enemy throwing a knee towards Neji. Neji was able to put his arms up and block the knee. Neji felt his left arm pulse in pain as some more blood ran down out of the cut. Neji quickly threw a punch up towards the enemies chest, he struck the enemy and forced the man to stumble back. Neji ran in to strike his kunai at the man's neck, but the enemy dodged out of the way and threw a kick towards Neji's side striking him in the ribs. Neji coughed as the enemy's kick was pretty strong. Neji fell to the ground, but rolled over and got up. The enemy ran towards Neji. Neji dodged the attack towards the left, and came up slashed his enemy in the neck. The man gasped for air as he fell to the ground and had blood rushing out of his neck.

More orders were given out which he assumed were followed well, untill a high pitched scream echoed the area. This jolted his attention towards the cause to see not Tomiko impaled but Hiraku with the sword in him. The idiot lowered his guard in combat? This was going so well too, Tomiko was going to be enxt which Neji voiced perfectly clear until Aiko popped back into exsistence saving the life of the young female. The last two attackers decide to engage both him and Neji. He didn't see how Neji was faring but at this point Kazumo was slightly getting a bit pissed. He moved back and side steps some attempts at being stabbed or slashed. Which only further sent the man into a slight panic, as the swings were becoming more wild. On one swing that missed he caught the man's arm with his right arm, holding it by the wrist. He then raised his knee hitting the back of the man's elbow, causing it to break with the bone ripping out through the skin. The man screamed in pain which caused Kazumo to kick him to the ground and proceed to step on the man's neck. Applying more pressure by the second. The man started flailing a bit trying to push Kazumo off before a crack sound came from the man's neck and ceased all movement.

Despite the final fights going on, Tomiko did not move from where she was. The entire world seemed to fade away as she focused solely on her brother, breathing what seemed to be his last breaths. Tears slowly fell, as she tried to accept what was happening, but just couldn't bring herself to do so. After what felt like an eternity, Hiraku spoke in a raspy voice to her. "Tomiko..." He began, coughing in the middle of his words. Something about his tone alarmed the girl, who immdiately shook her head as if to refute what was coming next. "Whenever you go home. My will, make sure you're there when they read it. You're going to lead us now." He said, occasionally interrupted by coughing. Meanwhile Tomiko continued to shake her head, begging and pleading with Hiraku not to go. He couldn't leave her. "Be... strong. Tell mom and dad I'm sorry, and remember that I'll be watching over." He said, looking like he wanted to say more. At that moment, however, the curse mark on his forehead suddenly burned a brilliant green. A soft gasp of pain left his lips, and as the light faded he was still. Tomiko sat in silence for a few moments, staring down at Hiraku but seeing something else entirely. A little girl, crying and alone under a tree. Hiding from the elements, while a boy a few years older tried to get her to come out. See how he could help her, find out what was wrong. As the girl reached for his outstretched hand, the boy suddenly faded away. Replaced by the corpse of Hiraku, and that was when Tomiko knew her brother was gone.

She leaned over and kissed his forehead gently, and spoke in a soft voice to the still body. "Find peace in Tian's embrace, big brother. I love you." She managed to say, before being overcome with grief and falling into an odd silence as tears fell freely. She moved to try to support Hiraku's body, determined to at least ensure he made it back home. She owed him that much.

Watching the conflict dying out with a most calm expression plastered over her dirtied face, Aiko remained silent. She briefly threw a glance at Tomiko and Hiraku but didn't say anything at first. Putting the bloodied kunai back into the pouch, Aiko decided that the team had earned a moment of rest. Running her left hand through her hair, the jounin would briefly close her eyes as a soft sigh escaped her lips. In the distance there were some faint sounds of chaos and turmoil. But not as present as it had been before. Or was that simply her own imagination, Aiko wondered. The odd silence remained present until Aiko spoke up. Giving instructions to prepare to get moving.

The turmoil at the prison complex was sudden but it was quickly slammed down. The insurgents had tried to launch a surprise attack but had made various mistakes, allowing the prison guard to take quick counter-measures. While one group had managed to enter the desired hallway that led to the underground dungeon of Soru Deshuga, the attempt would further be thwarted by Team 8. Not that this would be spread out by the street heralds. Those were instructed and told that the prison guard had managed to withstand a direct attack and thanks to great bravery, managing to avoid more damage and death than it would have been with Soru free. As the rain gently kept falling down on the land, washing away the sudden rise of tension, the team of Aiko would be moving to the barracks while Hiraku would be brought together with the other deceased to the nearby Intelligence Division headquarters. In the barracks, a few specialised medical nin attended to the members wounds before Aiko urged them that her team needed some rest to recover of the operation.

Once she was certain that everything was done, the jounin would head towards the room that Kazumo, Tomiko and Neji shared together. Knocking briefly on the door, Aiko would slowly open the door and throw a glance at the three genin. Closing the door behind her, Aiko's lips briefly parted but she seemed to decided against what she wanted to stay in the first place. Instead the jounin would lean backwards against of the nearby walls while letting the silence linger in the room.
"Several important ringleaders have been taken out or captured during their move on the prison. We did only take out one of those 'things'. Not that our presence will be acknowledged by local news. Nor are we allowed to spread that news." Waiting for a moment, she decided to just confront the elephant in the room. "How are you all feeling? I know that these last few assignments have been tough. We lost people but that doesn't mean that we are done yet."

Tomiko was where she had been since they returned. In the back corner of the room, with a blanket wrapped around herself, and her face buried in her knees. She didn't want to move, didn't want to be bothered, and didn't want anybody else right now. The genin simply wanted to be alone. Left to accept both the loss and responsibility that had come on so quickly. The door opened, and Tomiko looked up so see Aiko. She didn't speak or even acknowledge the woman, simply went back to her previous state. She didn't care how many ringleaders had died. They could all go burn and she wouldn't care! It wouldn't bring Hiraku back, nothing ever would. When asked how they were feeling, Tomiko made no effort to even bother answering. Instead turning so her back faced Aiko and the others. Just her and her little corner, silence. Time to think and figure out how to reconcile what just happened.

Neji was patched up as soon as they got back to the barracks. The medics at the barracks took care of his wound and patched him up. Since then he had just been laying on his bed resting. These last few days had been a lot and all of them seemed pretty tired. Every once in a while Neji would look over at Tomiko. He wanted to say something to her, try and talk to her ans try and help her in anywy he could, but he knew that she wanted to be alone right now. He had a sense of how she felt. When Neji found out that he lost his older brother he was devastated and much like her just wanted to be alone, though he couldn't imagine how he would have felt if he had seen it take place right in front of him. He laid on his bed with his eyes shut when he heard a knock on the door. He opened his eyes to see Aiko sensei walking in. Neji sat up on his bed and looked towards her as she told them about some of the ringleaders of the zealots being taken down. She then asked them how they were feeling " Tired and a little bruised up, but nothing we can't handle." Neji looked away as he thought about the past missions and some of the mistakes he made.

Sitting in a chair reading a book to pass the time, he couldn't help but notice the heavy tension the room had. It was rather quiet for three of them being in it, however was was perfectly fine with such a situation. He could somewhat understand Tomiko's reason for being sad, granted he had his own thoughts on the matter that would most likely be kept silent. He didn't quite get why Neji was being so silent though, then again did he really actually care enough? He was rather enjoying his book and the silence only made it better. Sure some of his wounds stung a bit, yet again another matter he would keep silent about. Just as he turned the page, the door would open after a knock with Aiko coming in and closing the door behind her. She informed them that several ringleaders had died and were captured, but any credit wouldn't really be thrown their way. Which made sense, they infiltrated a prison afterall. She then asked how they were all feeling, which resulted in silence from Tomiko, a little assurance from Neji that he was tireed but overall they were fine.

Closing his book to be able to give Aiko his full attention, he would set it down on the table before smiling. "I'm pretty good, the headache from whatever that thing did went away. Some little aches from the.... wounds I recieved but other than that Im golden. Yet didn't we take out three of those things? That one you had fought, that thing that implanted those visions in my head, then the one at the end that you vanished with?" Kazumo would ask since the others didnt seem very chatty at the moment.

Aiko threw a glance at Tomiko. Understanding for the girl's loss and emotional state was there. But this wasn't the exact moment to be mourning. Their job wasn't entirely done unless the insurgents and zealots were driven out of the city. Until then Aiko wasn't really planning to give anybody the luxury to take it easy or a step back. That was exactly what the enemy was hoping for. Yet, Aiko wouldn't say anything regarding Tomiko's behaviour. "Good to hear that, Neji." Aiko replied to the boy with flashing a smile. Her attention then went towards Kazumo as he replied to her question. "We did. Though from what I am getting is that those things aren't exactly the ringleaders of the zealots. I might also be wrong about it. In any case, a large blow to the zealots has been dealt. The ANBU of the region are now on the hunt to locate and hunt down the last few operating cells." The woman answered, inserting a pause before she continued. "Which would mean that we earned ourselves a break. Yet, I don't want to sit still for too long. We will be on the move soon enough to keep the pressure on the enemy. Certainly now, we shouldn't sit still for too long."

Neji listened to what Aiko sensei had to say. She said that they have earned a little break, but that they shouldn't rest for too long, they would be on the move soon to try and finish off the enemy once and for all. " Aiko sensei. what happened in the prison? One minute you were there and then the next moment you were gone. My sharingan picked up some weird chakra, i'm sure Tomiko picked it up too. I'm guessing it had to do with those "things" there was like green aura or chakra or something surrounding you and then you were gone. Then all of a sudden a few minutes later you suddenly appeared again. What are we really dealing with? Only you and Kazumo know any extent of their power."

So those things werent the ring leaders but just regular foes that they employed? How did one even go about having something like that on their side? Whatever this enemy was or whoever they were, they were not something to joke about."I see well either way a lot of the leaders are dead or captured, so its a slight win in some regard." Kazumo responded with still taking note that Tomiko was wallowing away, which was a bit annoying to him yet he kept his attention on Aiko for now. Who stated they earned a small break but would move on soon enough to keep the pressure on these zealots. Neji would ask what happened referring to that green light that envvolped sensei and that thing wisking both out of sight. He was curious too, but it certainly wasn't anything that thing did. "I can say this much from my dealings, they seemingly suck out your chakra by holding onto you, and can survive most hits. That green light however, I doubt came from that thing. They dont seem like the type to use any special tricks like that."

The question of Neji earned him a frown from Aiko. The woman then seemed to understand what he meant. "That wasn't something to be worried about. Just know that I managed to surprise this creature with some luck." The jounin replied back in a friendly fashion, hoping it would comfort the Uchiha. The comment of Kazumo earned the Sarutobi a glance of Aiko. But no more word would be spilled regarding the occurance. "We are dealing with foes that are different than an ordinary shinobi. That much was already proven with our exchanges but they aren't invincible. Those foes who we have faced before can be beaten. Just leave them to me or somebody else of higher rank. If you do find yourself in a pinch with them, just try to keep your distance." It wasn't the best advise, Aiko was well aware of that. But there wasn't much of an alternative advise that she could bestow upon the genin at the current moment. Certainly not that two genin were missing or likely dead. And two other chuunin were confirmed killed in action. For a second, Aiko looked at the back of Tomiko. "You all have today to rest out. Tomorrow, regardless of what state will we be moving out again. Any questions? No? Then make sure you rest well today. Tomorrow is going to be a long day."

The sunlight was slowly setting down on the streets, but neither of them would see it. Ino had managed to find an apartment that appeared completely abandoned, yet from not too long ago, she figured it was three days at best. Either the previous occupants were scared, got lucky to escape the poor district or something much worse. She didn't care, as it seemed that none of the gangs or any other major player in the district had picked up on it yet.

Sitting against a wall and taking a bite from a ration, she glanced in the direction of Rabbit "So, to sum it up, we heard talks of people worried about the monks, and there are, potentially, so called recruiters, but no confirmed sightings and those we questioned aren't sure for what exactly." Ino said after swallowing the bite of the ration. Dry, but fulfilling.

As Ino spoke Suzu munched on a ration, slowly chewing through the tough food while listening, "I've had a run in with recruiters before," she said, remembering the bar fight that her and a certain Chuunin had been involved in, "If the recruiters here are anything like the ones from Konoha… Well it's going to be a bloody recruiting session whether or not we find it." she said quietly, half her mouth full of food. She swallowed the rest of the ration and took a look toward Ino, "Say we somehow manage to find the recruiters, it may not be days until they act, or weeks even. It could have been months in Konoha before they got together and we don't have that kind of time here."

"Considering these recruiters reputation of being unknown, I think they seek out people in a very discreet way. I know that in the past it wasn't too hard to move around without being detected, but with the increase in patrols it would've become harder for anyone without experience. So they must look for people with those type of qualities. Which could mean we might be on a recruiters radar already, it is just a matter of what exactly they are looking for." Ino said and looked in the direction of the window. It had been covered with many papers as a way of granting privacy, but she assumed shadows could still be seen to some degree from the other side.

"We could look at the monks. I used to know a monk who tried convincing me to come under him, but he...passed away. From what I know of them, these monks are the ones who help people stop worry, not worry themselves. Which could mean if there is something that worries them." Ino stopped mid sentence and took another bite from the ration.

She looked at the covered window as Ino did then back to the Panther, "So it goes, the Priests are supposed to be rather open to all. It does seem odd they seem to be paranoid and shutting themselves in, I think they're a good place to look. If they're not against us, then they likely have some sort of information we'll find useful which would explain why they seem so tense to the people of this city." she leaned back against the wall and rubbed the side of her face where she had taken the punch, it was tender but hadn't bruised quite yet, "Although we may have to force our way in if they turn us away." she said as she looked back to the window, the light of day now almost completely faded against the papers that covered it to make way for the dark. The dark was good, made for great cover to do their work, but at the same time it also aided their enemies. Darkness makes no distinction. "For the Temple then?" she asked as she rose to her feet.

Ino still wasn't entirely sure if that was the right course of action. Something that worried the monks was worth investigating, of course, but it felt somewhat off to her at the same time. It was diverting the attention towards the monks and away from people giving more thoughts to the recruiters "No. While there may be something with the monks, I'm getting the feeling it may be a distraction. Everyone worries about the monks, and people would rather not think about people that are mere rumours. And that's an excellent way for the so called recruiters to keep operating while keeping minimal to no attention to themselves." She said and looked towards the window once more. With the darkness looming outside now, it was clear that no one could see from either side as long as there was no light from either side.

Suzu stood right where she had risen up, looking at Ino with a blank expression, "I don't think you're right." she said blankly, pointing at the darkening papers of the window, "These recruiters. If they're trained to look for people like us, then they've likely already made us, and that will just make it all the more difficult to even catch a glimpse of them." she paused and knelt down once more, she could tell it may be a long exchange before a decision was reached. "The ones in Konoha were not nearly as subtle as the ones that are operating here, and I didn't see a single one until the day of the actual recruiting meeting." she sighed, "They tried to convert people to their faith, their 'One True Path', I understand your concern, but if the Priests are concerned, I wouldn't doubt that they were approached about this. Invited to the meeting to learn more and possibly convert."

Turning her glance to Rabbit, she listened as she made the case for going to the temple. It had a good point, but something Suzu said bothered her "They were not subtle in Konoha and tried converting people. While it is wise to try and convert the people with the highest levels of faith, as people would follow those, I'm not certain if they would want to cause concern among the monks, not in this type of manner. These people managed to infiltrate the Empire's villages and cities, only to go around and cause a riot that attracts all the attention to them? That just seems a bit too blunt of an action." Ino said.

"However," She said as she placed her hand on her chin "It is very true that the recruiters most likely made us by now. I was thinking the exact same thing, but just because they made us does not mean it is against us. It is possible they are still considering us as potential candidates. We don't know how they think when it comes to recruitment, so I think that lead is still open. Let us go look into the monks first to find out if it is indeed a diversion of sorts or if it is an actual threat." Ino said as she motioned for Suzu to lead the way.

Suzu stood up as Ino motioned for her to lead them on, "If it leads to nothing, then we'll be back to nothing just like with the recruiters." she said as she passed Ino and opened the door to the apartment. As she went down the stairs and into the streets she pulled the jacket around her shoulders a bit closer as the cold night air nipped at her. Turning back to Ino she nodded and began to make her way toward the Fire Temple of Hanaguro.

A short walk later they had arrived in front of the front entrance of the Way of Fire Temple that was within the confines of Hanaguro itself. The Temple was surrounded by a tall wooden wall, painted a deep brown and adorned at even intervals with wooden cutouts of the symbols of the Way of Fire painted over in gold. The entrance to the temple itself was shut, the large nearly six meter tall swinging doors that made the gate sealed tight. Suzu stared for a moment, debating if they should just hop the wall, but decided against it when she noticed the small slit built into the door on the right to allow someone to look out from the inside. She made her way to the slit and knocked five times loud enough that some passersby gave her odd looks, and then she waited.

It took a few seconds before some sounds resonated. Slowly but surely the slit would be shoved open and the face of a bald and elderly man would be shown, dressed in the garbs of a monk. The rimples together with his sad looking eyes made the man appear almost ancient and mourning the loss of his favourite pet. "Yes? Can I help you?" He asked in a soft voice, that seemed closer to a whisper. "If you want entrance to the Temple, I fear that this isn't a good time. We are currently busy with some maintenance." The monk added, an apologizing smile following his words.

Suzu gave the Priest a warm smile from her side of the Temple gates, "Hello." she said softly, not trying to come off as hostile anyway, "I'm sorry to hear that…" she said feigning disappointment as the Priest told her of construction, "I hate to bother, but my friend and I ran into some trouble on the way into the city, and we were robbed of all our belongings, they even roughed us up… We don't have anywhere else to go and I've heard that a temple of the Way of Fire is always willing to help those in need…" she said, her words beginning to trail of as she clutched at the dirty clothes around her chest and her face began to twist in to that of a broken human being.

The expression on the monk's face shifted as his left hand traveled to his lips. A frown formed, as good as the wrinkles allowed it, on his brow. For a second, the old man didn't say a word in return. Only for the slid to be closed and some faint sounds resonating from the door. Opening the door, the monk would appear in full sight as he beckoned both Suzu and Ino to enter the temple's large courtyard. "Please, come in. I thought you two desired to lay out a sacrifice or prayer. But if you are without any shelter, then I can arrange something." His tone had turned more friendly as he would close and seal the door behind them.

"I do dread that the kitchen has been cleaned up but I might be able to gain you ladies something to drink and eat. I am so sorry to hear what happened to you. You two aren't in need of any medical help? I can wake one of my brothers to aid any pain or worse." The monk already eyed them with a worry that was more befitting to a grandfather than to a monk.

As they were let inside, Ino was hugging herself, clearly cold from the chilly night and the poor condition of the clothes "The shelter alone is already so much. Thank you." She said in a weak voice, and offered a small smile of gratitude "Thank you, thank-" Before she finished thanking him once more, Ino collapsed into her knees and hugged herself even tighter while also shivering.

As if surprised by the Priests offer of help, Suzu graciously thanked the Priest as she walked inside and turned to Ino offering a small smile as if to say that they were finally safe. The Priest offered them shelter and food, even medical assistance although that would mean waking more of the priests. Before Suzu could reply Ino did, before promplty falling to her knees, "Mizuki!" she cried as she dropped next to her friend, "Mizuki, come on we can get you help here…" she turned to the Priest, offering a look of concern, "I think Mizuki could use someone with medical knowledge, and someplace warm too." she asked as she began to help Ino to her feet.

The monk was both surprised and his worry only grew more by the moment that Ino collapsed. Turning around, the old man grew silent for a moment as he nodded. "Come. I will lead you both first where you can get somewhere warm. Then I will see if brother Iwane is awake." Leading them into the Temple quarters, the two operatives would be led further into what seemed a large hall. There were two fire pits that gave some warmth and light but due to the late hour it wouldn't be a surprise to see that they were barely lit.

"Stay here. I will make certain that brother Iwane comes soon. Then I will get you two some food. Poor things," the monk mumbled the last two words as he walked away, his head shaking lightly while more mumbled words poured from his lips. Likely a prayer.

Suzu smiled at the Priest as he set them down inside among two fire pits in a large hall. As the Priest stated that he would be back Suzu turned to Ino once she was sure they were alone, She let go of the Sworn Sword and looked around, "If getting in told us anything it's that something is definitely up. Did you notice any construction? I saw nothing that leads me to believe there's any going on." she asked her. She turned to look around the hall, it was mostly empty and the fires were kept so low that it was hard to see the farther ends. She didn't know an extensive amount about the Way of Fire temples but she was sure that the amount of stuff in the room was about normal for a temple. "I don;t think they've been robbed. At least not in the main hall. I stick to it they've been intimidated or threatened, I'm sure if we ask enough questions we'll get what we need…" she spoke.

After being brought into a warmer room and the priest walked away, Ino remained in the same spot that she was escorted to. While Suzu started talking, she kept quiet and tried to remember any differences from the last time she had been there, around 8 years ago. Her position was not the best to spot anything major, but Suzu was right, there was no indications of any clear construction "These temples are always rather simplistic in how they look, with the focus being on fire. There should be a fire behind the temple that is kept lit at all times." She quickly said from what she recalled about this and another Fire Temple she had been to "We need to look for the smaller details." Ino summarized before going back to appearing cold and weak, before the priests came back to the room.

Sounds of footsteps became louder as another monk entered the hall. There were a few rimples present on the man's face and he stood taller than the earlier monk, evidently giving away that he was younger of age. A serious expression was plastered on his face but a curious light seemed to be present within his eyes as he approached the two operatives in a cautious fashion. "Good evening. I heard from brother Seiho that one of you required some medical attention?" The man would throw a look between Ino and Suzu, awaiting their answer.

Suzu looked up at the man as she held Ino, "Yes, yes… Please my friend, we were robbed on the way into the city, I'm afraid we took a wrong turn and ended up in a bad area… They stole all our money, and beat us threatened to kill us if we told the authorities…" she began to shake and pulled Ino closer, "They kicked us and hit us with rocks, I think Mizuki was kicked in her stomach more than once, and they weren't gentle…" Suzu began to rub her eyes and shoved her face into Ino's shoulder as she sobbed.

'Mizuki' just kept sitting in front of one of the dim fires, still shivering as her friend explained what happened and then shoved her face against her shoulder. It was a very odd sensation for her, but she turned to look at her friend "I'm still here Raon." She spoke in a weak voice as she placed her head against the side of Suzu's head.

Approaching the two, the brother would place down two small pouches on the table. He would kneel first next to Suzu as he seemed to focus while closing his eyes for a second. A prayer would be whispered before the monk would begin his handiwork. He examined the woman with gentle care as if she was made of porcelain. Frowning slightly after he seemed to be done with his examination, he would nod towards Suzu. "Seems that you just need some rest. No broken bones or other troubles that I could detect. I have one pouch here for you. It contains some of our own homemade salve. Apply it to the areas where pain might conjure and rest out." Standing up, he would proceed to repeat the same to Ino and point to the second pouch before flashing a smile to Ino. "Same applies for you, miss. I am sorry about what occurred to you both, though," the man said with such regret, as if he had been able to prevent the misdeed to both women.

"I do believe that---"

The man couldn't finish his sentence as the monk of before walked into the room. "Brother Iwane, come! Don't tarry too long here! If the head priest hears you're, again, out of bed then we both will be scolded. Shoo!" The elderly monk flashed a smile as he proceed to work brother Iwane away. Placing a plate on the table, the elderly monk nodded towards the two women before he spoke up. "It isn't much but I believe that this bread is still somewhat fresh. Baked in the afternoon, so it won't be too hard. Couldn't find anything refreshing so I hope the slices of cheese and ham will make do." The monk's attention was caught as brother Iwane seemed to still wait at one of the entrances to hall. "Excuse me, that stubborn mule." Walking to the younger monk, the two would engage into a whispering conversation.

Suzu smiled at Iwane as he seemed to run his hands over her looking for any injuries, she smiled and even forced herself to blush slightly as she smiled at the younger Priest as he diligently went about ensuring neither were badly injured. She took the small pouch reluctantly, "Thank you so much Brother Iwane." she said softly as she took a small amount of the suave and rubbed it on her cheek where she had been hit earlier and even spread some on a few other random parts of her body to uphold the ruse. As the young Priest finished up he was rushed off by the older Priest Seiho, who had brought a small amount of food for Ino and herself. She offered a thanks and a smile before taking a small piece of bread and eating it. She chewed slowly while she intently listened to the hushed conversation between the two men, trying to garner anything she could.

Quietly thanking Iwane as he finished checking her for injuries, she slowly grabbed the suave and begun to rub it lightly, appearing as if it still hurt to touch the places she was kicked at earlier. While the priest that brought them in came to shoo Iwane away, Ino had also grabbed a piece of bread and eating it slowly. Brother Iwane certainly reminded her of him. Not wanting to go too deep into memory lane, she placed a hand on Suzu's shoulder and took a moment to try and listen in as well.

It took around a minute before brother Seisho returned. He seemed to ponder something. Taking a seat across the table, he eyed the two women who seemed to dig into the simple meal. "A pair of beds have been arranged. You two can rest with the peace and comfort we can provide. Though," the eyebrows of Seisho perked up slightly. "Brother Iwane didn't seem to find anything that could detail that you both had been treated with violence. If you two seek sanctuary, I would prefer if you stay honest. We treat everybody equal but would like to be treated fair as well."

So that's what Brother Seisho and Brother Iwane discussed. Letting go of Suzu's shoulder and looking down, Ino appeared to be apologetic "We hadn't come here straight away. It has actually been over a week since we were robbed. But I can show that we did not go without injuries." She spoke weakly and rolled up her shirt, revealing a few scars, cuts and bruises across her stomach, some appearing much more fresh than others "I'm sorry if we appeared not truthful because we did not have any broken bones or more severe injuries" She apologized as she let go of her shirt and then bowed her head towards Seisho "We are both truly thankful for this." Ino finished speaking with a weak voice.

Monk Seisho shook his head lightly as his arms crossed out front of his chest. "Your story makes less sense the more I hear of it. If you two think that I have no experience of the world outside of this temple, you will find yourself losing your place to stay." The monk answered with a sterner tone. "I don't want to indulge too much into the history of you both but I take it that it is clear that we don't give either sanctuary or sympathy to criminals. For obvious reasons. So, the truth." He gave them both a glance, even though his sterner expression and composure didn't take away the frail appearance the monk had. "Have either of you commited a crime? And please, do not lie."

Suzu glanced to Ino before letting go of her and standing to face Seisho, "If you really want to hear the truth then sure." she sad plainly before motion to herself and Ino, "We're Operatives of the Empire. We work under the Empress, and we've come here on rumors of odd happenings both within the city of Hanaguro as well as from this very Temple." she paused and looked around for no particular reason. "We've heard many rumors of strange happenings from you and your Temple. We need to know what's going on, so that we can keep the Empire safe from those who seek to destabilize and destroy it from the inside." she said simply, looking the older Priest up and down to see how he'd react.

The answer of Suzu created a silence. Seisho just stared at the woman for a good twenty seconds before he frowned even more. "Good God, now I wish it was the previous story." The man mumbled softly, barely audible for the other two. Rubbing his forehead for a moment, the man uttered softly a prayer before speaking up again. "The rumours you hear might have some truth to them. Yet, I fear that I have sworn to not speak too much. As much as I would desire to recruit outside help, I am not in a position of power or freedom to do so. Then again," Seisho rubbed his chin for a moment. "I think with all recent events that you two aren't that far apart as the living flame that had been sent to us. How can you verify that the good Empress have sent you two here?"

"Eight years ago, an unspeakable act of evil was performed in the temple. The apparent culprit was supposedly upper handed, but there claims of his innocence. Ikue Masuzoe, a former priest, had been brutally murdered near the sacred fire that stands behind the temple. While the murder is public knowledge, the reason behind it remained under wraps as to not stir panic, for according to official records that are only accessible by higher rankings, Ikue Masuzoe had given refuge to the missing-nin Ino Namikaze, who at the time was hunted by a gang within Hanaguro.." She spoke in a calm manner as she turned to look at Brother Seisho "This is a detail regarding this place I have learned through access to information many people do not have. Something the Empress had given me permission to access as part of our preparation to this mission." She said as she stood up as well. Ino was hoping she did not just give up a part of her past in vein, and that the monk would choose to believe them, as she had no other way she could think of to show what Suzu said was the truth.

Seisho stared at Ino for a moment. "The Empress gave you access to such information in order to win our trust? Then why lie in first place?" The man asked, clearly not convinced at all. "The Empress already had send us the living blue flame as herald of her good will some time ago. So, am I going to hear the truth or are we going to beat around the bush?" The old man asked, rising his chin slightly as there was no sign of fear present. "Seriously, if this is a joke then it is poorly executed and in poor taste."

Ino shook her head "This is no joke. The lies at the beginning were because we were given clear instructions to conceal our identities. It is a covert mission, we were instructed to go with light gear, so I requested access to all the information I could learn. If we couldn't have access to gear that helps us prove who we are, then I wanted to know something that could show we were not just saying things. And the case of a murder so close to the fire got hit close to me. I am a strong believer in the Way of Fire." She said, and bowed deeply once more "So please, Brother Seisho, you must believe that all we want is for the good of the Temple. Help us ensure nothing like that dreadful act of the past happens again." Ino finished her plea with a couple of tears dropped from her eyes to the ground beneath her.

"A covert mission, by the Empress herself and you have no legitimate evidence other than bringing up some information. It is even sad that I must state that I don't even believe your words in that you're a strong believer of the Way of Fire." Seisho replied, a twinge of guilt evident in his tone. "If you want to earn our trust, then you will make use of the two beds and not conduct any misdeeds until the next conversation. I will inform somebody who has to make this call as I am in no position to make a decision."

Suzu sighed as the monk gave them some rules to follow to possibly get what it was they were looking for, "I honestly didn't expect you to be so reluctant…" she said as she stood from her spot next ot Ino and walked forward to Seisho, "We need you to talk to us," she pressed a bit close to the Priest, "You need our help with whatever it is that you're dealing with," she stopped relatively close to the man, "If you can't do this, then I expect you to show us to the person who can." she paused for a moment and turned to Ino, then back to the Priest, "You're not exactly in a position to deny us, if I'm to be blunt."

The threat was clear and yet no change in Seisho's composure. He simply stared back at Suzu while the frown on his rimpled brow perked even more up. "I believe I was clear, child." The man said on a calm and serious tone. He was in no manner a match for Suzu from the looks of it and yet he wouldn't budge from the woman's threat. "I hope you don't state those words with true malevolent intention in the Temple of the Lord. As it remains, you are our guests and rooms have been prepared. I will inform somebody who can make the call on if you two will be treated as her majesty's operatives or not." Still remaining where he was, only Seisho's left hand slightly trembled.

"I'm certain she did not speak with malevolent intent Brother." Ino quickly spoke up before Suzu could say something else that would get Brother Seisho to decide they need to leave immediately "And while I understand you cannot make this choice, I hope you understand that I must try and request that you let us speak to the person who can make the choice. Let us present him the facts in a proper manner, unlike what has occured now." She requested in a polite tone.

Seisho didn't break his gaze from Suzu for a few seconds while Ino spoke. "Good, then there is no harm in taking some rest in the prepared rooms. As for your request, that will have to wait till tomorrow." Slowly rising up from his seat, Seisho gave them both a stern gaze. "Seeing the late hour, I believe it would be most out of place to wake up any of the priests. They need their rest as much as you do. So follow me to your room, please." With that having said, the old man would start to walk away without much concern.

Suzu held her tongue as Ino spoke, pushing back her lust to simply gleam the information from Seisho through force tp the back of her mind she would smile at the Priest, "Of course, I meant no ill intent." she said as she would follow the priest to the rooms that had been prepared. As they walked she turned back to Ino, pulling the kunai from under her coat and shrugging nonchalantly before placing it back where it had been.

As she followed Brother Seisho alongside Suzu, Ino shook her head as she watched Rabbit reveal a kunai for a moment Killing him could cause whatever goes on here to stop without us learning anything. She mouthed in silence as they kept walking. She also thought about the fact that unlike the rat and his goons they killed earlier, this time they had no way of diverting the attention to someone else, which could only attract much more unwanted attention than needed.

Leading them to a simple and small room where three beds were accompanied with a small closet, the quality was simple. "You can rest here for the night. I hope you both have a splendid sleep and may the Lord bless you both," Seisho said as he nodded towards the room, waiting to close the door behind them.

With a nod toward the priest Suzu quickly pulled the dirty jacket off of herself and tossed it against the wall fo the room they had been given, "Thank you very much, may He bless you as well." she said back to him as she turned to face him, not bothering to conceal her blood soaked clothes from earlier. She would take a seat on one of the beds and continue to watch the Priest as he stood in the doorway, "Some privacy please? A lady can't well get comfortable with a man skulking around." she said quietly to the Priest.

Entering the room as well, Ino turned and gave Brother Seisho another bow "Regardless of what the outcome may be, thank you for the hospitality, even when the place is undergoing construction." She told him and rose from the bow, offering a gentle smile "May the Lord bless us all." She added before moving to take a seat on the second bed. She then watched as he closed the door before turning to look at Suzu.

"I take it you won't let me kill him at any point during this?" Suzu quietly asked Ino after she turned to look at her. She shrugged and pulled the blood soaked top off her chest and lay back on the bed, "He's being unnecessarily cautious. He should just tell us what we need."

Ino shook her head lightly "You did hear me say that there was a murder here eight years ago, right? It is more than understandable why he is being cautious, considering they did have a case that led to a murder of one of their brothers." Speaking quietly as well, she turned to look at the door "Not to mention it is possible that he is involved in whatever goes on here. We will see with how we will be treated in the morning."

She pulled the kunai from behind her back as it dug slightly into her skin against the bed. She twirled it aimlessly above herself before raising an eyebrow as Ino spoke about the murder that had taken place, the one that had been caused because the Priests had harbored a certain now dead Nin. "What exactly led a missing-nin to take refuge in a temple. Especially one located in such a large city. There are plenty of far more ideal places to hide under such circumstances." she said as she sat up on the bed, "Makes me wonder whether or not you truly care about getting rid of the Priests if they give us trouble, seems you had no trouble endangering them in the past."

She shook her head lightly "I never said I am against getting rid of the priests all together, only that this is a potential lead and that killing him now has a chance of making us lose this lead, for now." Ino kept speaking quietly as she moved to lay back "As for taking a refuge in such a large city, sometimes being right under the noses of those who seek you is the best hiding spot. And sometimes attracting attention in one place can lead to a much quieter escape elsewhere. It all depends on the circumstances." Was the response for Suzu's inquiry regarding the past murder.

"As long as we still have our options open to us in how we deal with them," she pulled the kunai from behind her back and placed it on the small table by her bed, "Then I'm comfortable with just about anything we have to do for now.". She stopped and moved forward a bit on the edge of the bed leaning toward Ino slightly, "Hiding where they least expect it, it plain sight does tend to do the trick." she said as she remembered a few instances of her own that would fall under such tactics. She leaned back, looking toward the door for a moment, "So what did you do that got you in so deep you had to leave a dead Priest in your wake?" she asked, cautiously prying into the subject.

Turning to look in Suzu's direction for a moment, Ino gave the fellow Sworn Sword a blank look before closing her eyes. There was so much she was willing to give out, but she was certain that somewhere, there was at least one other person who knew exactly what happened, not that she knew where that person was by now.

Early in the morning, somebody would knock on the door. A few seconds would pass before another series of knocks would resonate through the door from the other side. Slowly the door would be opened by a young man in the dull brown attire that designated him as a simple monk of the Temple. Holding a small plate with the same simple meal that Ino and Suzu had received yesterday, the young man would place it on the nearby small desk. Before taking his leave, the young bald man would state that priest Utemaro would be pleased to receive them later in one of the shrines.

Suzu had already been up for quite some time when the knocks resounded off the door. She waited, not saying a word before there was another set of knocks that the monk shortly followed by opening the door. She gave him ehr best smile and simply nodded at him as he lay down a plate of food and gave them the news of a "Priest Utemaro" who would receive them later in the day. Once he had left she took a piece of the bread and bit a small chunk off before turning to Ino, "Can't help but think they're trying to figure out what to do with us.' she said softly.

Also being up long before the monks knocked on the door, Ino remained laying on the bed until the second set of knocks, at which point she moved to sit up. After the young monk came with the news and brought them yet another small meal, She gave him a polite nod before glancing in Suzu's direction "They most likely already know what they want to do." She responded before grabbing a piece of bread as well and standing up "I think it would be best if we go and seek out priest Utemaro instead of waiting around." She added before finally taking a bite from the bread.

"If you think that's the best course of action," Suzu stood as well and donned the dirty coat from the day before, slipping the kunai into the pocket of it once more, "Then by all means, lead the way. I'll keep an eye out for anything interesting as we walk." she stated as they walked toward the door.

Looking at Suzu's back as she began walking towards the door, Ino took a moment before speaking "If you have any ideas you can feel free to suggest them." She said as she started to walk towards Rabbit.

As the door would be opened, the two operatives would be met with Seisho standing in the hallway. Clearly waiting for somebody. Spotting the two women, Seisho walked towards them with a calm expression plastered over his features."If you two are ready to meet priest Utemaro, then please follow me." Gesturing in a polite manner for them to follow his lead, Seisho already turned around on his heels and started to walk down the hallway. Leading the duo through the Temple to one of the shrines, he would stop in front of a dark wooden door. "Priest Utemaro is inside. I request that you both do give him some time to finish his prayer, might he still be praying." Seisho spoke in a hushed fashion to Ino and Suzu before he opened the door to the room. Allowing both Ino and Suzu to enter the room, Seisho would close the door behind them while mumbling something softly.

The shrine was one of simple nature to the Way of Fire. No rich decorations were hang at the walls or placed on the small altar. A small old, bald man was knelt in front of the altar as hushed whispers could be heard from the man. When the door closed, the small man would finish his whispering before rising up and turning around. A friendly smile grew on his lips as the man eyed the two women. "Ah, the guests that brother Seisho spoke off! Welcome, welcome indeed." The man gave each of the woman a bow before placing his right hand on his chest. "I am one of the priests of this temple. Please, do just call me Utemaro. Now, I believe that you two had a desire for help?"

As Seisho led them towards the temple, Ino made sure to keep an eye out for anything that could stand out. As they were let inside the room, She politely waited for priest Utemaro to finish. As he finished his prayer and then spoke to them, she nodded "It is a desire to help you and your temple, priest Utemaro. We understood from Brother Seisho that he cannot make the call for us to provide any help and thus we requested to speak to the one who can allow us to do so." She explained in a polite manner.

Utemaro turned his attention to Ino as he listened to what she said. The priest folded his hands together in front of his red robe while he seemed to consider something. "It gladdens my heart and soul to hear that the great Benevolence has sent aid. But why did you find it necessary to lie to my brothers?" Utemaro asked, no spite or negativity present in his voice.

"I apologized to Brother Seisho for this, and allow me to bring forward apologies on our behalf to the entire temple. We were under strict instructions to remain undercover." Ino explained with a serious tone "We meant no ill intent towards the temple, you or your brothers." She finished speaking.

Suzu simply stood at the side of Ino, her mind running through a few different outlandish scenarios as she listened to them talk. As Ino apologized, Suzu bowed toward the Priest as apology, holding herself down for a few seconds before rising slowly, "Had we been able to come out and say who we were right from the beginning, it would have been preferred over this route." she said sincerely to the Priest, "I apologize for my behavior last night, it was unbecoming of an Agent of the Empire." she stated, bowing once more and holding herself there as she waited for Priest Utemaro's acceptance of her apology.
Utemaro waited for a second as Ino and Suzu offered their apology. "I will accept your apologies. We all make mistakes and we are taught to forgive those who are sincere with their apologies." The priest flashed a friendly smile to the two women. "But it does confuse me why two operatives of Her Majesty don't say so right away. We are on no ill-footing with the Crown. Certainly not after receiving a divine visit from the Guardian of the Crown." The eyes of the priest seemed to gaze off, clearly remembering the visit that he spoke of. "Then again, I am somewhat known that not all secrets should be uncovered. If you were sent by Her Majesty then you're both welcome to stay in this Temple. Would it be acceptable for me to try to contact Her Majesty in the meanwhile? Seeing certain recent events, I am forced to be somewhat cautious in what people tell me."

"You can reach out for Her Majesty, but I must ask that you do not. A part of a covert assignment is communication through only secure channels, predetermined by our superiors. Communications through any other method could lead to our discovery and the failure of the mission." Ino stated briefly "I fully understand this is asking a lot, especially considering the current and past events." She finished speaking, hoping the man would understand the risks she presented.

Suzu rose from her bow and continued to watch and listen as Ino and the Priest spoke, only beginning to speak once she was sure Ino had finished for the moment, "As it stands, we're already breaking quite a few of those rules with you to simply be honest. I hope you can understand how sensitive what we are doing is, we truly need your word that no one will speak of us being here, and that we will all act as if none of this ever happened." she said, giving a small nod as if to confirm for herself that the Priest would understand the need for secrecy.

The priest seemed to weigh his options as he remained quiet. "Very well. I will respect your desires but I can't just share every sensitive detail with you until a good trust has been developed. Which won't be a problem if you two are what you say you are." Utemaro made a gesture to the altar behind himself. "As I was informed, you two desired to help this Temple of the Lord? Might I inquire if you two had anything specific in mind?"

Ino nodded as the priest agreed to their request while letting them know his side of things "It is more than understandable that mutual trust is needed first." She spoke up once more "As for our desire to help, we have heard of multiple rumours that something is causing the members of the temple to be worried. Would you have any idea as to what that may be?"

"There are many reasons why my brothers are worried. News has spread fast from various unfortunate events in the realm. I take it that you both are aware of what events I might speak, considering those 'Zealots'. With some changes in Hanaguro, some of my brothers are worried that the same people are behind the rising tension." Utemaro replied back to Ino. "There have been some people who proclaim that they saw this or that but every large city has its urban legends and myths."

"We've heard of the 'Zealots', yes." Suzu confirmed before continuing, "We'd like to know if they have attempted to make contact with you, and what sort of things they may have said if they succeeded in speaking with any of the Temple, among other things…" she said. She couldn't help but feel they were being to forth coming with the man, even if they had both deemed it necessary to the mission, there was no guaranteeing that he wouldn't turn around and tell someone what had gone on, or worse, tell a Zealot informant of their talks.

The priest shook his head. "No. We have only been contacted by simple and good folk. There have been some newcomers but nobody that came with any ill-intention. I am aware that some people think that we got a lot of political influence but we try to avoid getting mixed into politics. We are simply the servants of the Lord, nothing more." An apologising smile appeared on the priest's lips. "I think that those zealots wouldn't really gain much with speaking to our brothers. Most men that have come to live here have done so in order to follow a simple life. One devoted to the true Lord. If you deem it necessary, I will allow you to speak with the brothers and other priests. But please, do not stir them up. Some do come from a troubled past and should deserve some peace here."

"It would be highly appreciated, and we can assure you that we do not wish to upset anyone." Ino said and gave priest Utemaro a bow of gratitude.

The priest flashed a smile as he inclined his head towards the two women. "That warms the heart of this old man. Now, is there anything else you wish to ask of me?"

Suzu shook her head to the Priest, "I believe that will be all Sir, thank you for your help." she said, bowing as well. She turned her head back to the door that they had been led through, and then back to Umetaro with a sorry smile, "Although if you could tell Brother Seisho that we would like to talk to others in the Temple, it would help us immensely."

"I will pass on the word," the priest replied back to the women. As soon as they left, the man turned around and would kneel down in front of the altar to continue his prayers.
