The Branch of Fate and the world itself hinged on a young man with white hair and a good heart. Corrin was the center piece of everything. Raised in Nohr too a family who loved him despite the darkness surrounding the world his siblings were raised in. The constant struggle of living in a home that was all too closed off made him close to all four of his siblings. It was a deep love that forged the Nohr siblings to their adopted brother. But he was not of Nohr's heritage but of a kingdom far away a rival known as Hoshido. What Hoshido was is a direct opposite of it's rival. Bountiful, beautiful, and graceful the kingdom stood a beacon of light in the ever looming darkness content in their own ways. Corrin grew to love his birth family be it Ryoma the stalwart older brother, or Sakura the kind if not shy younger sister. Even Hinoka the prideful older sister and Takumi the stern and brash second prince. In the short time he knew them he found a new life he could hope to be a part of. However it was not to last.

The choice between Birthrights and love or Conquest and Lies...it was a odd road for one so young as he was. Torn between loyalty to all he ever knew instilled into him by his big brother whom himself was guided by a dark path, Xander, reached out to his beloved prince asking for his help. In contrast Hoshido's Ryoma the proud noble Prince of Hoshido and future king grabbed his young brother's other hand and demanded he come with him to protect the people and to right a wrong done on their family.
But what if the Branch of Fate broke off? What if Corrin didn't survive that fateful day at the crossroads between Nohr and Hoshido? What would've became of both nations? What if Corrin in his heart jumped into the fight between Xander and Ryoma...and was felled in the process?

This path will be led by a young noble from Cyrkensia of Nestra. He was not chosen by fate but he seeks to remove the hatred by both sides peacefully or not. He witnessed the death of Corrin first hand that fateful day and he was inspired to follow the ideals set along by the naive prince. Not marked for fate, or destiny, or even blood this young man seeks a way to bring true peace to both lands for the good of their peoples. Will he be able to achieve it or will he fall too weak to grasp at the power that Corrin would've been able to? Will Nohr and Hoshido fight too a blood conclusion with one side a broken victor? Or will the young noble be able to convince them too unite together?

FAQ/Rules:
1. This will be a roleplay with a standard of adept roleplaying. I'm not expecting an overwhelming amount of detail but I do expect effort to be put into characterization. Three sentences do not make a personality, or a bio in my eyes.

2. There will be no stats unless you personally want to make up a set for a character. I don't know how to work them into a text based roleplay.

3. You may be from Hoshido or Nohr but not Valla or any of the deep realms.

4. This story will be a mix between Conquest and Birthright with canon characters appearing but none of them will stick with the main group. Xander and Ryoma will be the boss characters for Nohr and Hoshido as reoccurring enemies. There will be spoilers for Birthright and Conquest through the story.

5. Dragons are off the board as there are no other dragons present in the game as units but Corrin and his children throughout the game. Wolfskin and Kitsune are allowed.

6. You may not start out as a promoted class. I will allow one 'jeigan' archetype if a player wishes to fulfill that role.

7. The removed magical archetype of 'Light' will be present through this story. Monks and bishops will show up and they will contrast the dark mages. This is a personal choice of mine as I view the removal of Light from the recent games to be really unfair in some regards. You may also play the pirate class

8. You may be from a noble family that is not the royal family. In other words you can be someone from a well off or respected lineage or even a courtier of one of the families but you can't be related to Xander, Ryoma, Takumi, etc.

9. Custom Classes aren't allowed for simplicity's sake.

10. The roleplay will start off on the Branch of Fate and will progress on from there. At the base minimum there will be three characters that will be with us from the start: My character the unnamed noble who will be the pseudo main character of the story, a samurai from Hoshido, and a villager from Nohr. You may pick a samurai or a villager still these two are simply going to be story important NPC's who will grant insight into their respective realms when there is no one else who can.

Name: Audric
End Game Title: Heir of Light
Nicknames: None
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Class: Lord
Home country: Nestra, Cyrkensia
Appearance: Audric is a grey haired young male with something between a slender and muscular build. He isn't bulky but he is fit and well kept. He has pale white skin and dark green eyes that match his late father's. His hair is short cut and silky to the touch. He is not particularly tall or short around the average size for a male of his age. In battle he tends to wear light Silver plate mail armor that protects his chest, legs, and forearms. In casual attire he tends to wear predominately white or blue clothes. Nothing abnormally fancy or show preferring simpler clothes to his more fancy attire he wears while at home.
-
Personality: Prideful, loving, kind, forgiving, and honest Audric has always been a boy of good character and well intentions. His initial reaction to anything is to settle it peacefully but is just as well willing to use violence if it comes down to it. A doting brother, friend, and humanitarian Audric always wanted to grow up to be a person that could take care of others around him and be the stuff of the heroes he heard about so often inspired by the stories of past kings and especially was fond of King Sumeragi of Hoshido whom he had met on occasion as a child. He seeks to improve himself as a combatant and fighter and he is willing to listen to those above and below his level of combative ability to fix weak spots in his technique. He is more than willing to offer a hand to those in need of assistance and finds it personally awarding to do so without expecting a reward or compensation but does not begrudge someone for offering him something in return. He has always found the night and dusk to be the most beautiful time of day and is fond of sky gazing and picking out constellations in the stars above. He loves to mess around and joke with friends about all sorts of affairs when allowed to.

As a noble he is kind to his servants and treats them with respect above all always noting their accomplishments over their failures and wishes for them to improve just as he strives to do so himself. He treats them as equally as possible while maintaining his position as the current heir to his household. He is noted for playing with the servants' children in his spare time and sparring with his guards on his off time. He feels it is a liege's personal obligation to respect those who serve them and know as many as possible.

His family to him is everything and Audric is willing to go to extreme lengths to help out his elder brother in anything. Ever since his father passed away when he was a teen he had only wished to please his brother and while some see him a content fool he is ignorant of those claims simply stating he is fine with his life of adventure, heroics, and diplomacy. He does not seek his family's fame as one of the richest and powerful in the country of Nestra but he does take pride in his blood line not allowing his actions to besmirch his family name unless driven by his innate sense of justice and freedom.

Though he is kind he is also very vindictive when crossed and a betrayal of his trust is something he views as inexcusable. He is more than willing to let someone walk but if need be he can be as cold as ice in winter killing people without regret. His pride in his family leads him to thoroughly despise anyone who attempts to hurt his loved ones, or his family never truly forgiving them in his heart even if he tolerates their presence around him. His anger has often led him into bad situations involving bandits which has nearly cost him his life on a few occasions during his teenage years. Though he has somewhat quelled the black flames that engulf his heart when enraged it is still terrifying to see him when pushed to his limit.

Though he hates backing down from a fight he intends to win he can see the point in strategic retreats though he himself adopts the mindset of absolutely destroying his enemies. He is protective of his allies and tends to do his best to defend them in the midst of an all out battle. He tries to quake an inner blood lust by depending on his inner sensibilities to calm himself which sometimes causes issues in battle making him unsure if he himself wants to kill someone or simply injuring them.

Biography/history:
Born in Cyrkensia without any problems young Audric was from the start destined to play second fiddle to his elder brother Nolan who was to succeed his father as head of the family. His parents always insisted they had great plans for the boy and had loved him since before he had even come into the world. His mother was the last known member of her own merchant house and had married into Audric's father's house out of love not political convenience. Audric's mother's name was Moriko of Hoshidan ancestry and was beloved by her people and his father's name was Nathaniel who came from mixed Nohrian and Wind Tribe ancestry.

As a young toddler Audric was often accompanied by his older brother Nolan who doted on his younger sibling with all the love Audric could have ever wanted the two basically being inseparable. His grandfather also read to him the short time he remained before he passed away leaving a few fond memories of pure happiness and joy shared with two of the most important people too him. He enjoyed reading and watching the dancers in the city more often than seeing his brother spar with his trainers but he found it equally as interesting and cheered on his brother. He spent time with his mother walking in gardens and visiting other houses where he would ironically meet Princess Camila of Nohr for the first time becoming a quick friend of hers. His brother Nolan often sparred and played with Prince Xander of Nohr as well when the King came to visit to listen to the beautiful music of the city. Audric would come to respect and think of Xander as an older brother to some regard but eventually the time would come to an end.

His father often spent time with him and Nolan engaging them in debates about life and what it means to be a noble lord of their house. In fact Audric would eventually ask himself many personal questions based on the conundrums presented by their father and he loved how easily the answers came when his brother pointed them out personally. In fact a young Xander would be the one to teach Audric some of his own philosophies on justice. Though the biggest impact on his life came form his first meeting with King Sumeragi when he was on crusp of becoming a young adolescent two years prior to the man's death and the eventual fall in relations between Hoshido and Nohr. Sumeragi had been a close friend of Audric's father from a time very long ago and had offered to come too meet him in the city of dancers many years prior but only had been able to see him recently. Audric actually spent the majority of a day with the king learning and asking questions about Hoshidan culture and the king's duties. Sumeragi fond the young budding noble to be a good lad and when the end of the day came spent the time gazing at the sunset together on top of the mansion. Audric credited his personal creed now in part to the king's wise words that day.

After the death of Sumeragi by the assumed hands of King Garon and a sudden death of his father by way of illness Audric entered his teen years with little in the way of parental guidance outside of his butler Hanzo and his mother. Nolan ascended to take control of the family immediately and despite his duties he often came to his brother's room to find comfort in their shared grieving for the death their late father. His mother was on the way with another child by the time Nolan become lord of the house and Audric was both saddened the boy or girl coming would never see his or her father but intended to make up for it. He took little notice between the deepening distrust between Nohr and their house but Audric often tried to write to Camilla or Xander with little success eventually giving up on the matter all together.

It was when he was a teenager that his brother first insisted he learn how to fight professionally and with talent. Though Audric had taken up the practice of using a toy and wooden spear as a child Audric never really fancied combat at all. Nolan knew the young man had talent and insisted his younger brother learn how to defend himself and others at all costs. Audric quickly took to using a lance in combat though on happenstance he tried an axe and found the power of the weapon more to his liking than the lance. His brother then had his retainers help train Audric on the side when Nolan was too busy with his own work as lord.

Audric's teen years were quick and fantastical not only did he quickly find his niche as a warrior in his own right as he traveled Nestra fighting bandits and promoting peace between houses but he also become a proud older brother to a young boy who was called Keith who had been born with a strange monochrome pair of eyes one blue and the other green. Audric was a fantastic older brother to the young boy and the pair quickly become the best of friends though Audric would always be closer to his brother Nolan who tried to spend time with Keith but with his growing age found it harder and harder to properly keep track of things. It was around this time Samanthia had appeared out of nowhere and became his retainer after Audric showed her and her Pegasus a kindness.

It would be his proudest and saddest moment of his life when he first stormed into battle and took down a bandit chief all by his lonesome mastering his own brutal fighting style with an axe with the help of his soldiers and friends in Nestra. It became sad when he found out back home mother had passed away from prolonged illness after she had given birth to Keith. Audric cried for days but promised he'd become the man his mother always wanted him to be, and he'd make his father proud to call him his son. Audric had continued to live his life this way until recently....

Word had reached Cyrkensia of troubles in the lands between Hoshido and Nohr. Fearing the worst Audric personally left his retainers and allies behind to find out what was happening. It was only days prior too reaching Hoshido's capital to meet Lord Ryoma when he found out that Queen Mikoto had been reunited with a lost son...and had been promptly killed by an unknown assailant days prior. It would be on a fateful day when he finally caught up to them all....

Cool! I'll get my sheets posted today once I'm off work. I also like to draw my characters, so hopefully it won't take forever.

Alright I look forward to seeing them.

Name: Kyrie Fayeburn
End Game Title: N/A
Nicknames: Kay
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Class: Myrmidon
Home country: Hoshido

Appearance:

Coming close to the five foot nine mark, the young woman is commands a strong presence. Commonly wearing flowing garbs to allow with movement, she picks darker fabrics not to seem too flashy. Generally pulled back into a high ponytail her tresses are hued into a pale creamy white colouring. Eyes are generally bright, welcoming and wolfish when necessary following in a calm olive green. A complexion is even and warm without marks of freckling anywhere, Kyrie contains a lovely frame well trained if not a bit pleasing to the eye.

Personality: While her profession suggest she should be serious quite often, she will tend to be either open and friendly or closed and sardonic. Her personality will vary on those she interacts with knowing that each situation will demand a different hold on her tongue and body language. Although she can be most commonly gruff should she feel like she is being treated inferior.

She's very human like meaning her emotions can be stressed and high resulting in poor decisions or she can come off cold. It'll all depend on the nature of the situation.

In an overall scheme Kyrie is an accommodating sort if not a little romantic.

Biography/history: Her history is something she tends to keep mostly to herself. Not for the reasons that she is hiding something but rather she prefers not to dwell on it. Her childhood was as fortunate as it could be, with her parents striving to make sure she was taken care for in the best situation. Taking the time and care to affirm her studies in any direction she wished upon. Perhaps her parents could have been called too doting, but considering her personality at the best of times, Kyrie knows she was fortunate to have what she did.

She's never been keen on the war between nations but never held a bitterness for Nohr due to their actions, commonly believing that one man's actions did not stand for all. Yet that does not mean she will not hone and help where necessary, hoping to help bring the way of peace for both nations.

She commonly kept her nose out of royal matters which may make her a bit daft in the front lines but she'll take her strides and come up fighting proudly.

Weapons: Steel Sword

Items: Elixirs are the most common in her bag, if not an extra sword should the need arise.

Other: NA

@Manna Beast I would ask that you go into more detail on her accomplishments, her training, and or her general past. She may not talk about it but she should at least have some sort of history. Beyond Audric's personal history he's a known bandit killer, and is renown for his skill and ability in combat (though still secondary to people like Ryoma, and Xander) for example.

Also their class would technically be 'Samurai' in this case as she hails from Hoshido. Fates treats Samurai class like the myrmidon class.

Yeah I know, I wasn't finished as of yet, just put up semi complete so I can go cook supper :3 @VanceXentan I'll add more and adjust later and then post when it is completed.

@Manna Beast Alright fair enough. Though you may want to consider adding in a 'work in progress' part in the top of the CS next time. I treat CS's without a mark like that as completed otherwise.

@Manna Beast You also may want to consider changing their name. I'm not usually big on that sort of deal it's a minor detail and a player should be able to roll with what name they're given to their character but they do come from a country that is predominately based on Japanese culture (Ryoma, Sakura, Hinoka, Hinata, Oboro, etc) and as such their name seems more Nohr like than Hoshidan. Or at least give a proper reason for it being as it is.

@VanceXentan Sry, but maybe I'll just step out for now, I think I'm going to get super busy here with work. So don't wait on me! Have fun rping guys!

WIP. Posting this here so I can finish it when I get home from work.

Name: Chenille
End Game Title: Forgiving Wolfskin (Subject to change)
Nicknames:
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Class: Wolfskin
Home country: Nohr
Appearance:

IrisSmaller.jpg

Personality:

Chenille is normally a kind, excitable bunch that loves to roughhouse with her brother and anyone she deems as a friend. Her roughhousing though is exactly that; rough. She and her partner's play fights look like actual brawls. She and Leno have various scars on their bodies from roughhousing with each other, which Chenille will proudly boast if ever asked about them. People are right to assume that she is the kindest, most merciful between herself and her twin brother.

Much like her animal counterpart, she's very curious of her surroundings and the people around her. Chenille is a very friendly individual and likes to meet new, interesting folks around the town. Though that's where the line ends about meeting new people. If said people are anywhere closer to her home, she will become more wary and hostile. Especially towards humans. She still prejudices humans when she witnessed one of her pack members get killed by a poachers. If it wasn't for her brother keeping her grudge alive and well, she just might have started trusting humans again.

She comes off as a bit cold towards humans due to her grudge and is very quick tempered while being a bit gullible. Chenille, if told something, will usually believe it unless her brother or something else she trusts tell her otherwise.

Chenille, having been raised on Kaen Peak, has not changed from her Wolfskin ways nor will she try to. She will usually eat objects that look edible, such as jewelry, paper, grass, and foods of any quality. Chenille also loves hunting regardless of its species. From small bugs and animals to large, bulky humans, she is always willing to chase down and kill anyone that treads her pack's path. The only exception to this list is rabbits. She loves raw meat, especially one from her own hunts, and stuffed animals to tear apart. Surprisingly, her room is not as messy as a regular Wolfskin nor does she hoard belongings in her room. Those items get buried wherever she can dig them. Her general interests and curiosity in people and objects seemingly keeps her from being scared of anything (though very untrue).

Biography/history:

Born and raised in Kaen Peak, Chenille learned everything she needed with her family. Her mother and father taught Chenille and Leno the ways of hunting their prey while choosing carefully of who they can trust. They were very specific about humans and how untrustworthy they could be when their greed overcomes them. Chenille, being a naive little pup, instead chose to believe that anyone had a good side to them regardless of appearance. Leno didn't like this and always kept close to his sister to ensure she wouldn't fall into any danger. He listened to his parents, and so chose to stay wary of traveling humans when he was out playing.

At the age of 5, both Chenille and Leno were captured by hunters, who were looking to sell their fur in exchange for some gold. The men had lured Chenille first, and Leno followed suit when he was trying to save her from the trap she fell into. The hunters were happy to have gotten a two for one, and seeing how the pups were so young, they instead decided to try and sell the two to nobles for a profit. After all, who wouldn't want a domesticated Wolfskin?

The two pups had been taken near the border of Nestra with the intent to sell. They had made their plans and knew exactly who to go to regarding the selling of two Wolfskins. The men didn't care about this being unethical or unlawful because the money for the pups would have surely compensated for their troubles.

However, before the hunters could get to their destination, the pups bit their holder and made a quick escape. This incident also gave them their first taste of human meat, and thus their new favorite type of meat.

At the age of 10, they and their pack of family members were taken on a trip to further hone their hunting skills. It was rabbit season, and the pack absolutely wanted some tasty meat for dinner that evening. And they certainly didn't want to be left out on a great feast! The family stayed together during their hunt, and managed to get quite a bundle to take home with them. Leno and Chenille were even able to snack on a few rabbits on their way back to Kaen peak.

On their way back, one member of the family and the second oldest, Lacey, had been shot by an arrow when the family encountered a group of poachers. The pack Alpha was enraged, and rightfully so. But Lacey's dying wish forced him to flee the scene with the rest of his family. The twins' sister died that evening, leaving rabbit to have a bitter taste in their mouths. Chenille and Leno had tried to eat rabbit two days later, but kept associating the meat to their sister's horrible death. With the taste of the meat now sour and rotten, the two decided not to eat that specific animal anymore.

However, shortly after the mourning process, another problem befell the family. While Leno was assisting his father with their hunt, a group of hunters successfully kidnapped Chenille when she was 11 years old. From there, she was taken to Cyrkensia where she became a pet to a young noble woman. Leno and his remaining siblings, Moire (Eldest son) and Satara (Eldest daughter), were all devastated to hear that the humans had taken Chenille as well. But nonetheless, there was nothing they could do as they couldn't storm into Nestra and kill the residents without punishment or capture. They had gotten Chenille.

Chenille was kept in a room most of the time with a collar strapped securely to her neck. A metal tag with the word "Pookie" was engraved into the shiny piece. The living space around her and the comfort wasn't bad, nor was the food at all. But the idea of being away from her family upset her. At such a young age and being forcefully taken from them, the Wolfskin hated it there. She tried escaping many times, but the maids and butlers always seemed to be one step ahead of her. Without a second glance the maids and butlers would put her back to her room, and then she would be punished with no dinner that night.

Eventually, Chenille managed to escape the home. It took the blood of many maids that tried to stop her, but at her grown age of 18 she could overpower them and leave without damage to herself. The lock to her collar couldn't be undone, and she couldn't chew on the fabric, but that was the least of her worries. She was sought after for the reward money, but Chenille returned back to her family.

Once the two became old enough, they were on their own to fend for themselves, as the twins expected. Though the two didn't separate for fear that something would happen to either one, more specifically Leno. They kept up with Nohr's issues when the two were eavesdropping on humans, and it was only during their brief visit to the town that the two learned of a Nohrian prince getting kidnapped and taken to Hoshido not long ago. During his stay there, the Queen had been killed by allegedly someone from Nohr. What in the world had happened?

Personality:

Leon is normally the quiet and more rational thinker compared to his excitable twin sister. He shares many interests with her, such as a love for fresh meat and roughhousing with those he deems as a friend. His roughhousing is more rough than his sister's, which makes him a great sparring partner without even meaning to. Leno also has various scars on his bodies from roughhousing with Chenille. He would be happy to share the experience behind receiving them, but will not be as excited to share them. He is a lot less merciful towards his enemies than his sister.

Much like his animal counterpart, he can be curious of his surroundings and the people around him. Despite his grudge towards humans, he has an interest in how humans are and interact as a whole. Leno wants to be able to understand a person and why they are the way they are. At first introduction, he is a bit tense around others and can come off as hostile. Especially towards humans. He has a huge prejudice against humans over what they did to his older sister. It's because of him Chenille is reminded of her grudge.

He has a hard time trusting a human, but wants to protect Chenille more than anything. So, if he can't stop her poor decision making, he will follow her to protect her from the inevitable trouble she is bound to run into.

Leno, having been raised on Kaen Peak, has not changed from her Wolfskin ways nor will he ever try to. He eats foods of any quality but knows the difference between "edible" and not. He also loves hunting regardless of its species. From small bugs and animals to large bulky humans, he is always willing to chase down and kill anyone that treads his pack's path. He is always happy to go hunting, regardless of the time. The only exception to this list is rabbits. He loves raw meat, especially ones fresh from his hunting. His room, by comparison to Chenille's, is no different than a garbage dump. That's because he never throws away anything, since he will usually be chewing on it again later.

He grew stronger and faster gradually, building his skill further with the intent of protecting the rest of his family. He had already lost two sisters, he refused to lose anyone else to the cruelty that was human greed. Though there were close calls to his life, the Wolfskin learned from his mistakes, making him incredibly difficult to capture, let alone skin.

Leno and the rest of the family happily welcomed Chenille home at the age of 18, when they saw the young woman wandering back to Kaen Peak. She briefly explained her escape and apologized for how long it took for her to be able to get out of there. Nonetheless, the family was just happy to have her back.

Look at me being blind and missing the OOC link that had been in the interest check. I'll get started on a CS, no promises I'll have it done before work though. We shall see though.

Works in progress are acceptable to me. It doesn't need to be finished in a day.

First character sheet is done. Now for the second.

Please let me know if you want any changes ^^

@Jessica2477 Character seems fine just a question of how you want to fit them in. Audric's going to be booking it on foot so you can chase him. Normally most Nohr, and Hoshidan characters would be marching with Xander's Army, or readying up with Ryoma at the river. However you have no relations to the Nohrian Military so that leaves you out of shape of marching with them.

The two are in a state of "what's going on?" My original idea was curiosity got the better of Chenille when she saw Xander's army march, and so decided to follow to see where they were going. Leno had to follow her to keep her from getting killed.

Alright fair enough that can work but I won't be able to do much interaction wise other than maybe put Millow on the rear guard and spot you.

Personality:
Oddly enough, Azaze is not one that terribly cares about the state of affairs between Hoshido and Nohr, rather, he enjoys the chance to test himself against anyone that would threaten his homeland. He typically has a devil could care attitude when around his peers, something that tends to be seen as a negative thing. Rather, he has no interest in sugar coating his words, telling things how they are, far as he is aware, without wasting time mincing words or otherwise leaving any doubt in what he means. If that means he comes across as crass and rude? So be it, he would rather be plainly understood and know precisely where he stands with someone, or a group, rather than play games with words and intentions, and not know where he might stand with a given person until it is far too late.

When it comes to a fight, Azaze is much the same as he is otherwise, straight to the point and not wasting time with fancy flourishes and tricks. Go for the kill, clean the blade, and move onto the next target. Not to say he doesn't enjoy combat, that would be a blatant lie. He loves a good fight, more so than most might consider healthy or reasonable, and claims he has a good reason for it. He believes that, crossing blades with someone, whatever their weapon of choice might be, gives him a chance to see them for who they really are. There is no time for falsehoods in battle, not of who someone is, and he has often gotten himself into trouble when, after crossing blades with someone, calling them out for failings that ends up sparking another fight. Probably on purpose since, no matter his given reason, its plain that he just enjoys a good fight, regardless the reason.

Azaze has a distinct distrust of anyone capable of shape shifting, of any sort. He sees that, considering how malleable they are with their physical form, there is no reason to trust that they aren't as malleable with their given word or anything they say or do, really. Not to say he approves of the pelt hunting, but he has no sympathy for the shapeshifters at all. However, this pales in comparison to those that use magic, mainly the Dark Mages and such of Nohr, but this hatred has bled over into distrust of anything magical. Due to the Nohrian constructs, the Faceless, sacking countless places since they could pass through the barrier protecting Hoshido, including his home, he has an intense hatred for the creatures. Their masters are only hated more, and being confronted with Nohrian mages of any sort, whether they are responsible for such things or not, gets him riled up into a fury that is uncharacteristic of him. But he intends to make them suffer for the suffering they cause, and if any other magic users cross him? So be it, they can join the rest in damnation, as far as the Samurai is concerned.

Rarely, one might find Azaze in prayer, if a shrine is available or otherwise, one might find the man within such a place, kneeling in front of the broken remains of his mentor's sword. Times like these, it is often best to leave him be, for he has yet to forgive himself. He often fails to forgive himself for his failings, whether that was not being in control enough to save his mentor, regardless of it was possible or not, or other failings as they mount. It is a side he is loath to show, since his guard is down in these moments, and he often distrusts whoever found him in such a position, doubly so since he professes a disinterest in any sort of deities or divine beings, even outright calling people who overly rely on such things foolish. Yet, he refuses to explain why he can be found at shrines, at odd hours when no one else might be there, meditating over the ruined remains of his mentor's sword, hinting at a belief that might exist under the surface.

Biography/history:
Born within an hour walk of Fort Jinya, Azaze grew up seeing the warriors of Hoshido training with each other on an incrediably regular basis, and on more than one occassion his parents would find him with a stick, emulating the moves he had seen the Samurai engaging in. His parents were horrified that their eldest, indeed only, child was so enamored with the idea of being a soldier instead of inheriting and working on the family's farm. Yet, no matter what they said or did, he kept practicing in secret, seeking out a retired samurai in the small village and learning from him, despite his parents protests. The old samurai was of the mind that, if he was old enough to hold a training sword and choose to walk that path, then he was old enough to make such a decision for himself. Of course, with the birth of his younger brother, his family would disown him, leaving the old samurai with the task of raising and training the boy.

They moved to Fort Jinya properly, the old samurai was friends with many of the men in the garrison there at the time, and they aided him in training the teenage Azaze in the art of war. Being raised by soldiers, even Hoshidan samurai sharing the habits of the common soldier when at rest, he was quite the blunt young man. Of course, as soon as he was of age he joined with the garrison properly as a true Samurai, his mentor and, in every way that mattered, father departing back for the village, returning to retirement. Azaze would find himself part of a roving guard, after being assigned as such, hunting the abominations that Nohr dark mages conjured up, the Faceless. It gave him a taste of proper battle, not the mock training that, while it did emulate warfare, hardly constittued as the proper thing. Azaze was enamored with the idea, eagerly throwing himself into battle any chance he got, a wild buck with the older and wiser heads following along, shaking their heads.

Azaze would learn to temper his battle lust when they found his home village being sacked by the Faceless, the abominations going undetected for too long by the nearby Fort, as it was busy dealing with other problems. Of course, he felt rage and loss since, despite being abandoned by them, his family was still just that, family. Throwing himself into the fight, a roaring rampage of vengeance and rage, he was only halted when he found the center town hall of the village, doors barred and survivors within, his former master dead on the stairs, a blade clutched in each hand. About half the Faceless that had attacked the village lay dead before the man, and he received a proper burial from Azaze. After this, though, he cursed the men strong enough to fight that had cowered within the town hall for letting an old man die for their sake, a man that, he said, was worth more than the lot of them combined. He walked out on the village, returning to the patrol party only after they were done in the village helping bury the dead and preparations to abandon the ruins.

Azaze no longer cared for the thrill of combat, in the sense that he would draw it out or enjoy the act of warmaking, rather, he enjoyed fighting for bringing the lives of those that deserved to die, to an end. It was a jarring shift for those that had known his younger self, and his newfound disregard for politeness or status was not a welcome change. But fighting through the burning ruins of one's hometown and seeing his mentor, a man that had been like a father to him, would continue to haunt him. Having never forgiven himself for forgetting the man's lesson of not letting battle drive oneself crazy, he would focus on ending fights as quickly as possible, though he could not deny the feeling of excitement and enjoyment every time he drew his katana to wage war. This would remain for some time, hunting any abominations that Nohr created, or otherwise acting as vanguard whenever he was part of a Hoshidan party that made its way outside the reaches of the Lady Mikoto's barrier.

Yet, when word reached his commander that, not only was the fact that Lady Mikoto's lost child returned to her, but she had been assassinated a few days later and that, indeed, the barrier was no longer a thing, disbelief and outrage filled the camp. Most of all, Azaze demanded that they march for the border, where Prince Ryoma and other Hoshidans gathered to rebuke the inevitable Nohrian invasion force. Regardless of his demands, the patrol group was recalled and sent to meet up with Prince Ryoma and the Hoshidans preparing to stop the Nohrians. Despite the events leading up to it, Azaze was excited, eager to spill the blood of Nohrians that had been sending monsters into Hoshido for this long now, show them an ounce of the suffering that had been wrought upon innocents, out of spite and jealousy over what Nohr did not have.
