So. Remnant. We've all heard of it, right? Composed of Vacuo, Atlas, Mistral, Vale, it's primary power source being that of dust, which pretty much everything nowadays can be run on. Man and Faunus alike filling the place to the brim, creating great things and working together to keep peace.

Sadly, things can't always go as planned.

Humans aren't the only inhabitants of the kingdoms, and even had they been, not all humans are good. Creatures of Grimm, the result of all things dark and creatures that feed off of negativity, share the lands with the people. By nature, not exactly the 'maker of great things' type. And humans, well... Humans get greedy. Want more than we're born with the right to have. But I suppose I'm straying from the point here.

Y'see, Vacuo, Vale, Mistral, Atlas- they aren't the only kingdoms around. Across the world of Remnant, many more kingdoms lie in wait, hidden a little better from prying eyes, but just as civilized and sharing the same goals as the kingdoms we know. Peace, tranquility, people getting along and working towards a better goal.

You might be wondering why I'm tellin' ya all of this. Well, let's just say that the heroes of this story ain't really regulars to Beacon, and they ain't about to be, after it's fall. So I figure I may as well enlighten you on where we're beginning... And where it'll hopefully end.

Let's see, first off... Ah, that's right. Terra, home to Annwn. Nice place, if ya ask me.. Aside from the discriminatory people. Warm little kingdom with seemingly kind folk, lots of vegetation, and even a few springs if ya look in the right place. Cept, this kingdom ain't really quite as quaint as it seems. Discrimination against Faunus is especially strong here, and the place is currently in a bit of a spat with, well...

Nysa. A little on the colder side, with a few mountains scattered around here and there. If you're smart, you'll remember to pack your coat and gloves if you ever find yourself headed there. This is the place you're most likely to find Faunus, and a hell of a lot of 'em, at that. Not all of 'em exactly wanna be there, but, well, if it's cold or be patronized by others, I don't necessarily blame 'em. You can take a guess why there's a war between the poor fellas and the diehards in Terra. Their academy's Aztlan.

Anyways, movin' on, next up we've got... Ah. Ashea. Probably the smallest of these guys, but definitely the nicest. Pretty tame place, with a much more pacifistic view in general than their brother and sister kingdoms. But they know how to fight when it matters, and they do have a nice academy to prove it. Eden, they call it.

Finally, Drayce, home of Zion academy. Not really the ideal place, but that's just my opinion. Lot's a crooks like to hang around here, and it's a bit dark and dreary for my taste. But hey, they get by, and the slightly high crime rate just seems to draw 'em closer. Which makes for good teamwork from the guys y'see there.

Anyways, now that ya know about the kingdoms, I guess it's your time to shine, kids.

Combat Attire

Name

Aelius "Ael" Cedomir

Legend/Folklore Motif

Sir Gawain (Arthurian Legend)

Appearance Description

Staying true to his name as a Sun Child, Aelius has characteristic blond hair, fiery crimson eyes, and a smile bright (or menacing) enough to outshine the rays of the sun. His eyes change to a sea green coloration whenever he activates his semblance. He stands at about 5 feet and 8 inches and due to his consistent training, he's developed a well built physique. Oftentimes, he could be seen wearing a bartender suit, a keepsake from his father, when not in training or in combat. He has several spare suits so it shouldn't come as a surprise if he seemingly wears the same clothes every day.

Biography

Aelius, or Ael (pronounced similarly as Ale) was born in a small village on the outskirts of Ashea. His father, Helyon was the village blacksmith while his mother, Aqua, is the village herbalist. He was the middle child among 3 siblings, with an older sister, Ilyas, 7 years older and a younger sister, Lucifina, 3 years younger than Ael. Due to the consistent demand of weapons and armor to fend off Grimm attacks, and the high demand for medicinal herbs to treat injured Ael's father would almost, always make a decent wage, though he would sometimes say that he "longed for the day his weapons would no longer be needed."

Since the village was located on the outskirts of the city, Ael's father thought it was mandatory for his son to learn how to fight. So, at the tender age of five, Helyon began training his son in the ways of the sword. As he grew up, Ael thought it to be highly unusual how a blacksmith was so proficient in combat that he managed to teach him not only the basics of combat but also some advanced techniques as well. When asked, his father would always reply that "the good blacksmith is someone who can make a fine blade, the better blacksmith is someone who can use that fine blade, but the best blacksmith is someone that can understand that blade". He had no luck finding answers from his mother either as Aqua would merely either redirect the topic of the conversation or ignore his inquiries altogether. Little did he know, he would find out the mystery behind his father, albeit not in the way he expected.

At the age of 13, Helyon left the village along with some merchants on their way to Ashea. He had thought that his father would simply be delivering his wares to the kingdom but, after a few days trip turns into a month-long disappearance, Ael's family began to worry about Helyon's safety. A few days later, a letter sent by the merchants arrived at the Cedomir family residence. The merchants wrote in the letter how Helyon's caravan was suddenly attacked by a horde of Grimm while they were only a few kilometers away from the kingdom. He was seriously injured after fending off the Grimm alone while his companions tried to escape. Helyon, himself, barely managed to make it out of that dire situation alive as he was near the brink of death when the rescue party of huntsmen the merchants contacted from the capital arrived. Helyon survived the encounter and is currently recuperating in a hospital in Ashea but he had lost an arm and a leg during the grimm attack. Still, Ael thought that luck wouldn't even begin to describe it, considering how his father managed to get away with only those injuries. So he decided to confront his mother about the real identity of his father.

After much hesitation, Aqua finally gave in to her son's request. She revealed that the Cedomir family was indeed a family of blacksmiths whose lineage could be traced back to the early days of the kingdoms. Helyon, however, decided to take the path of a Huntsmen. Sure enough, he soon became Huntsman of great renown in Ashea. Not only was he strong and skilled in combat but he was also generous and compassionate. He would escort travelers to villages all over the kingdom, even without any compensation whatsoever. However, after meeting Aqua during one of his escort missions, he decided to settle down in his hometown and takeover the family business.

After learning the truth, it had seemed that a fire has been lit in Ael's eyes ever since. He would spend most of the day training. polishing the skills his father taught him and even experimenting on ways he could improve his technique. Then one day, he set out by himself to the kingdom in order to see his father and talk to him in person. Nothing could dissuade Ael from this idea so all Aqua could do was prepare her son as best as she could for the journey. Along with giving him some medicinal herbs and food, she thought that it would be best if he would also be given the Cedomir family's heirlooms, at least temporarily. Despite being ancient, and covered with rust, it was better than going outside of the village defenseless. After preparing as best as he could, he set out on his journey towards the capital.

While on his way to the capital, he found what seemed to be the wreckage of a carriage from his father's caravan. He took it upon himself to investigate the wreckage and discovered it to be empty, presumably looted by scavengers and thieves. However, just like his father, Ael was attacked by a group of grimm, this time in the form of a pack of Beowulves. Despite his extensive training, this was still the first time he'd fight grimm in his entire life. He had not unlocked his semblance yet, and he was only equipped with what he thought to be sub-par gear.

Despite this, he managed to bring down a couple of Grimm before the Alpha managed to knock away his sword. The clang of the metal against a distant rock seemed like the tolling of church bells to his funeral. Tired, wounded, and surrounded by still half a dozen beowulves including the Alpha, the situation seemed hopeless to Ael. As he was beginning to accept his untimely death, he heard a voice inside his head saying that as long as the light and warmth of the sun touches him, he should never lose hope.

Suddenly, he felt an unnatural warmth spread across his entire body. When he opened his eyes, Ael discovered that he was glowing, in the literal sense. An fiery, crimson aura enveloped his entire body from head to toe and he felt stronger than ever before. His once rusty armor was now gleaming beautifully as if the aura returned it to its former glory. When a beowulf tried to attack him, it only took one punch to turn it to dust. Before the other four regular beowulves could try to pounce on him, he quickly outmaneuvered them and reached his sword. Upon touching the rusty blade, he watched as his aura enveloped the entire sword, cleaning the entire thing of its impurities until he was holding a well crafted, and well-balanced blade. The once rusted heirlooms suddenly became equipment that seemed to have been tailored specifically for his usage.

When the remaining Beowulves attacked, he easily incinerated every single one of them as he quickly discovered that anything his sword touched burst into flames. Now, only the Alpha remained, and although it was hesitant to get near Ael after witnessing what he did to its pack, it seemed like it didn't want to back down either. Whenever Ael tried to get close, it would continue to distance itself from the shining knight. Out of sheer frustration, Ael focused on his sword and swung it with all his might towards the Alpha, despite the grimm being at least twice the distance of his sword. All of a sudden, a beam of burning energy erupted from the sword and was sent hurling towards the Alpha who didn't have time to let out even so much as a yelp before it disintegrated into ashes and smoke.

After discovering his equipment wasn't the hunk of steel-covered rust he thought it was, and finding out how amazing his semblance is, Ael hurried over to the capital in high spirits. However, great power comes at a cost and he soon learned the cost of that power later that night. Just when he was only a kilometer away from reaching the city, he felt his strength suddenly leave his body. Compared to how powerful and refreshed he felt during the day, it seemed like a stark opposite once the last bit of sunshine retired for the night. His body had been completely paralyzed and it was taking a herculean amount of effort to hold on to his consciousness. With each passing moment, the world was being enveloped both by the night's darkness and his fading consciousness. He knew losing consciousness here, alone would be tantamount to suicide but alas he could no longer fight his exhaustion.

When the first signs of daybreak came, Ael immediately woke up, disoriented, confused, and surprised to find out that not only he was alive but he was in a hospital in Ashea. Right next to him, his father laughed heartily, congratulating his "stubborn" son for making it so far on his own. He told his son that a Huntsman friend of his stumbled upon Ael while he was out for an evening stroll and he brought him back to the same hospital were his father was recuperating. Helyon was eager to find out what happened during Ael's travels and after his son told him everything that had happened, he was convinced that it would be for the best if he enrolled in Eden so he could become a full-fledged huntsman. But since he was still too young to enroll to a Huntsman academy, he convinced his friend, Ingram, to take Ael under his wing and train him in preparation for his schooling in Eden Academy.

For 3 long years, Ael stayed in Ashea, training under Ingram, who, unsurprisingly was an even stricter yet more skilled than his father. In his tutelage, he learned not only to fight more effectively but also to use his semblance more efficiently. He had taught him that one should not rely on one's semblance in battle and must find other means to win, specially when Ael's semblance had such a nasty side effect when used excessively. By the time he reached 17 years old, Ingram finally says that he "barely passes" and that he's now ready to enroll on Eden.

Now, equipped with not only his armor, semblance, and the skills he learned from Helyon and Ingram, but also his dream to become a renowned huntsman like his father, he set out to Eden Academy. (After Ingram and Helyon sorted out his paperwork and he passed the entrance exam of course.)

Hexcalibur Solstice: The Sword of Radiant Victory - the sister sword of a legendary blade that was used to win a great war from ages past, it was bestowed as a gift by its maker to the Cedomir family's ancestors and has been an heirloom ever since. Strangely enough for an "ancient artifact" it is equipped with functions that are akin to today's technology.

The first function, or mode, is the standard sword-function. The edge of the blade is sharp enough to cut through most Grimm like butter except those with tough armor. However, the true function of the sword is to act as a vessel for the energy absorbed by Ael's semblance until it is dispersed either by being coated around the blade or being launched like a beam.

The secondary function, or mode, is the rifle-function which allows regular bullets and dust-bullets to be integrated into the blade to serve as ammunition. The effects vary depending on the type of ammunition used though he normally carries only fire, ice, and steam cartridges.

Semblance

Burning Daylight - an ability that amplifies Aelius' abilities twofold during the day but is completely useless at night. During combat, his strength, speed, and agility are increased significantly. It also allows him to recover from non-fatal wounds. Additionally, this semblance also enables Ael to assimilate the burning heat of the sun to his blade, encasing it in an energy field. This field could be extended up to twice the length of the blade and can also be shot out like a beam, although it takes 3 minutes before Ael could use this ability again. Needless to say, this ability drains a significant amount of his aura so he uses it sparingly.

However, overwhelming fatigue envelops him during the night as if his body's strength had left him. This ranges from feeling rather tired or gloomy to flat out passing out the moment the last bit of sunshine disappears for the day. The longer and the more he overexerts himself with this semblance, the more intense the pervading feeling of fatigue he experiences during evening.

(If you're familiar with the fate franchise, yes, this is Gawain's Numeral of the Saint skill)

This vid gives an idea how powerful he is with his Semblance activated although he obviously won't be summoning mini-suns any time soon and the length of the sword won't reach astronomical proportions.

Notable Attributes and Fighting Style

One should not be fooled by his knightly looks. Despite being trained by his father in the way of the sword, Ael has also learned that honorable combat can be disregarded if it meant victory over his enemies. "if you can't win, cheat." is what his fighting style's about so he is willing to punch, kick, bite or use any underhanded tactic when he deems it necessary in order to win over his opponent.

His fighting style incorporates Solstice in both attacking and defending but, as stated earlier, he is willing to kick, punch, or bite at his enemy just to give him the upper hand. If it means throwing his sword like a an oversized throwing knife towards his enemy, he would gladly do that as well just to secure his success in combat.

Motivation to be a Huntsman/Huntress

- His motivations to be a Huntsman lie in his determination to surpass his father and his wish to be like him in protecting those that cannot protect themselves. And if he could make the world just a bit more peaceful by doing so, then he considers the effort to be worth it.

NPC or PC? : Playable Character

Extra

- He is surprisingly a decent cook in the sense that he can whip up something great so long as he follows the recipe book.

- He likes to watch anime during his spare time, with his favorite being about a samurai with a natural perm who runs a jack-of-all-trades business. (It's Gintama if you hadn't guessed it.) He also like the anime about a boy living in a city full of espers whose only power is to negate other powers he touches with his right hand but said hand also negates luck so he is tormeneted by bad luck but he also manages to get a harem so. Said protagonist also exercises gender equality. (It's "A Certain Magical Index" if you're wondering what it is.)

- (If we get a King Arthur Character, we could already have a Knights of the Round Table team)
Looks good. Accepted!

I'm loving this fairly comical confrontation between a certain pirate and a certain gangster. XD I'll put up a replay later tonight, I've already got an idea for his response. Just back and forth insulting banter.

Name

Windia Milkyway

Legend/Folklore Motif

Atalanta (Greek Mythology)

Appearance Description

Windia sports messy long silver hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. She stands at around 5 feet, 7 inches and weighs about 53 kilograms. She often prefers wearing revealing clothes so that she could connect with Nature more. Much to her chagrin, this often gets her into trouble but she is still adamant in maintaining her clothing preferences. She only refrains from wearing such revealing apparel when she is at school, opting for her uniform instead.

Biography

All her life, Windia had been raised among the Faunus. Her parents died at the Faunus Rights Revolution when they were fleeing with their newborn daughter. A childless Faunus couple, who was also fleeing from the ensuing carnage, found the lifeless couples body. They were about to give it no mind and just move on when they heard a baby's cry from underneath the couple's corpses. They moved the corpses away in order to investigate only to find a human baby covered in her parents' blood. They deduced that her parents made a final effort to protect the child by using their bodies as shields. They managed to shield the child from harm but at the cost of their own lives. The Faunus couple, compelled by the final act of compassion that the human child's parents had done in a desperate attempt to save her life decided to take the baby with them and raise her as their own.

Windia grew up among the Faunus. Ever since she was a child, she had already understood that she was different from them. Due to her being a human, some faunus kids despised her mere presence among them resulting into bullying. However, she did manage to make a lot of friends who would protect her in the event when other Faunus kids bully her. She doesn't blame them for mistreating her, however, as she could clearly see the discrimination her kind has expressed towards the Faunus. In a way, she even sympathizes with them. So she decided that she would one day become a bridge for Faunus and Human co-existence. And the fastest way she could think of accomplishing that is by becoming a Huntress.

Weapon

latest

Zephyrus - A highly advanced Crossbow-Khopesh with a unique cartridge system and reloading system enabling the weapon to fire continuously and rapidly. until the magazine runs out of arrow bolts. The arrow bolts can also be loaded one by one manually allowing them to be reused after being fired. A cartridge typically consists of 50 arrow bolts and reloading it only takes less than 3 seconds for her. She utilizes several types of ammunition:

1.) The first kind is the normal arrow bolt. It is light weight and highly durable couple that with high kickback and penetration power, capable of even punching through concrete, it is the standard ammunition for the Zephyrus.

2.) Explosive Arrow Bolts are the same as the Ordinary ones albeit their arrowheads are infused with red dust. A small red led light is attached to the tip wherein it lights up and blinks once it has made impact on the target. Initially, the red light blinks slowly but as the arrowhead nears its detonation, the led light blinks rapidly. It also emits a sound that is capable of attracting Grimm drawing them to the blast radius of the bomb. It is effective for routing enemies. It is advisable to only use this type of ammo long range.
These can be remotely detonated as well.
These are further subdivided into:

a.) Incendiary Arrow Bolts - Arrow Bolts with vials of fire dust attached them. Upon impact the highly volatile dust undergoes a chain reaction igniting it consequently and releasing a huge fireball.

b.) Acid Arrow Bolts - Arrow Bolts with chemical vials attached them as well as explosives. When the explosives detonate, the blast force from the detonation would break the vial and spray the blast radius with acid.

c.) Frost Arrow Bolts - Arrow bolts infused with Ice dust that freezes anything they come into contact with upon impact. Capable of freezing areas as wide as 15 feet.

3.) The third type of ammunition are the Grappling Bolts. These are mainly used for quick escapes whenever she is cornered. The tip transformers into a grappling hook once fired and the end of it is attached to a durable cable. By pressing the trigger once more, the cable retracts, pulling her to the direction of the place the hooked got latched into.

4.) Scatter Rounds - Disguised as a normal arrow bolt, when fired, it releases dozens of arrow bolts that literally block out the sunlight at a given area dude to the sheer number of them. Very useful for eliminating multiple enemies.

Semblance

Redirection - The ability to alter the trajectory and direction of projectiles or anything in motion within a given area of 10 feet. It is a form of Pseudo-Psychokinesis wherein the clear difference is that those subjects that can be affected by this ability is limited to those which are already in motion, and thus, stationary objects are impervious to said ability. This ability is mainly used in combat for redirecting enemy projectiles or altering the course of her arrows. However, she can also use this effectively in close range for defensive purposes when redirecting enemy attacks by changing their direction. Furthermore, she can use redirection on herself in various applications. By using it when she is in motion, she can propel herself in any direction, not only correcting herself towards said direction but also giving her a huge speed boost. When she is airborne, she can redirect the direction of her fall upwards to the point wherein she could float temporarily enabling her to land unscathed.

Restrictions - She needs to perform calculations of the size and speed of the object before she can alter their directions. That said, she performs calculations faster than an average human. She can't redirect stationery objects and she can only redirect small-medium-sized objects. Four can only be redirected at a time and it drains her aura quite a bit more than most other semblances

Notable Attributes and Fighting Style

She is proficient in Krav Maga and uses it in synchronization with both of her weapon forms.

Motivation to be a Huntsman/Huntress

Windia's main motivation to become a Huntress is to gain fame and influence so she could become a bridge for Human and Faunus co-existence.

Name

Saffron Lee

Legend/Folklore Motif

Bruce Lee

Appearance Description

Standing at 5'6, the diminutive child star excused a welcoming air. Her home is a simple place, in a calm aesthetic with a garden and a lot of memorabilia from her movies. When asked, she looks sheepish and tells me 'My fathers very proud of me' in explanation. In the garden, she waits for me to sit and as I do, follows suit. She resembles her mother more than her father, Master Yen save in their family tradition as the dojo in the background behind her looms. Her movements are quick and graceful, her hands bearing the callous and scars of her training. I'm almost afraid to ask about them, as to why she hadn't used Aura to fix them. In return, she smiles and tells me.

"I asked my father the same, when I saw his scars. He told me they were badges of accomplishment, of hard work. That everything worth doing, would put its mark on you in some way. So to me, that is what they remind me of. Each scar is a memory and with that memory, I take it with me as I remember where I came from."

That was a deeper answer than expected and we continue to talk over our tea, I ask a little about her upcoming movie and she laughs aloud.

"I can't say much about it, but it is going to center around some of our best men and women who protect us. There's going to be action, adventure and its why I'm going on hiatus for a year." She looks excited and I feel a similar feeling rise in me. And so began my first interview and meeting with Miss Saffron.

[See page 3 for more.]

Biography

Saffron Lee is a teen movie star, raised in a family of martial artists. Starting out as an extra in Dance of Doom, when she was meant to be captured by the masked men in the scene, she panicked and spun-kicked him with immense force into the ground. She apologized mightily, but the director saw potential in the scene and changed the script to accommodate her new character, Chichi the reclusive Waitress.

Fame followed quickly after, as she starred in more movies that showed of her martial skill, including A Dance with Dragons featuring a Vacuo-homestead showdown as Lee Sin the blacksmith-protector against bandits, Fists of Fury as the avenging student Angel Maria against the cartels of Lord Shen, and her more famous movie to date, Bloodsport where to save her family, she must enter an illegal fighting tournament and fight consecutively in a tower, to face against her rival. This was also the film to feature her most famous weapons as well, the simple nunchuk which she uses to great effect. Doing all her own stunts, she currently has a health book line on the side and has a blog she runs, with video's of her days on set, her training regime which she does as a workout video as well as a way to answer fans.
Weapon

Her nunchuk's. They don't turn into guns, but the ends do convert into a grappling hook, with the chain extending in such cases. Mostly however, she uses it as a handy jump rope.

Semblance

Shatterpoint: Using her semblance, she's able to track the weak points on her target of focus, knowing the place it would hurt the most as well as 'break' the effect. For example, if confronted with an illusion, her shatterpoint would give her the place to hit to end it. If faced against a powerful Grimm, the same ability would tell her the best place to hit in order to take it down, before switching to the next and the next and so forth. In a more mundane use, she uses it in her movies for dramatic effect, breaking through a wall for example to confront the villain in his lair. Or when a gun is pointed, to know when to side-step. This is not a public thing however, and its one she keeps to herself, as its a private shame to have a semblance that her father does with training.

Notable Attributes and Fighting Style

First and foremost, she is a martial artist from a long line of them. Coupled with her greater-than-normal Aura that she uses to boost herself, this makes her a deadly whirlwind of feet and hands on the field. When the nunchuk's come out, all bets are off. Simple, yet effective for her needs.

Motivation to be a Huntsman/Huntress

To study for a new role coming in a few years, though privately she's not had much time interacting with people her age and hopes to change that. Looking forward to a new POV as well.

NPC or PC?

NPC

Extra

She loves ping-pong and plays it with her nunchuk's.

Every opportunity is a training exercise to get better.

Since her skills depend on her physical fitness, she is a major fitness freak and will wake up before the crack of dawn to partake in her practice styles.

She has four older siblings(based on the four symbols of China- Dragon, Turtle, Phoenix and Tiger).

Both accepted!

Jolyu Sun-Shin

Legend/Folklore Motif
Yi Sun-Sin

Physical Description
[BCOLOR=transparent]Standing at an amazonian 6'7 (or two meters tall), Jolyu is a dog faunus with short anime-esque blue hair and dog ears (as pictured above). Her face is rounded and sweet, save for the ghost of a scar over her right eye. Her physique is moderate, muscles visible, but not quite rippling. She has been endowed with above average assets and does not appreciate you staring so avoid doing so.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Biography[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]TL;DR Jolyu lived in a settlement outside of the kingdoms, showed integrity in the face of corruption, courage in the face of danger, and then got shipped off to a combat school when her dad feared for her life after a near death experience in battle unlocked her semblance[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Jolyu Sun-Shin grew up in Korya, a faunus settlement not too far from the borders of Terra. Natural barriers in the forms of a mountain and a fast flowing river kept the Koryans largely safe from the bulk of grimm raids. On top of that, Korya was settled upon a seemingly endless vein of various flavors of dust crystals. However, without risk of grimm, or even the bigots of Terra (who either weren't aware of the Koryan bounty, or simply thought that raiding the naturally fortified position was untenable), the faunus of Korya found little value in the art of war. Instead, these fortunate sons and daughters of Remnant mostly used their payload of magic crystals for agricultural sciences and artistic installations. [/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Even so, Jolyu Sun-Shin dreamed of the warrior's life, defending her kin and clan against any threat, no matter how uncommon. In pursuit of this goal, Jolyu signed up for the local militia the day she turned 15. The militia was seen as little more than a club for the nobles who couldn't be bothered to learn an honest trade. As such, the young faunus proved to be an annoying anomaly to her corrupt colleagues, actually keeping watch while they slacked off, and admonishing them for their sloth. The young woman was stoic, incorruptible, and while not without humor, was quick to frown on anyone who failed to live up to their responsibilities. Naturally, she made no friends amongst her shiftless peers and corrupt superiors.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent] After another year of relative peace, the town was set upon by a veritable army of marauding humans riding Ursa Minors. Luckily the militia was able to react in time, but the undisciplined troops did little more than panic, half of them fleeing. Jolyu and a few of the more experienced soldiers picked off a tenth of the raiders as they forded the river. When the bulk of the invaders made it to shore, the invasion started to turn into a slaughter. Jolyu was nearly knocked unconscious as she was swatted aside. With her vision blurry and tinted scarlet she watched the decimation of her comrades. Then she clenched her bow, and planted it into the sand, where it unfolded. Only half-conscious of her actions, she pulled out her bukchae, and beat a steady rhythm against her shield, which grew more and more intense. Her hand was ablaze, as was the rest of her, and without a glance in her direction, her allies took notice. Desparate, fleeing men turned and fought with the ferocity of tigers, faunus troops who were written of as dead lept to their feet still bleeding out and fought without notice for their maladies. In the face of such sheer willpower, the ursae reared and fled, and which humans so foul as to "tame" them were either dead or likewise on the run. The cowards who initally panicked and fled found their fellows on the side of the river, either, unconscious, or still bleeding out on the ground.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]After weeks of recovery, the militia saw some changes, those who stayed in the wake of the invasion were treated as heroes, and given the honorary titles of "Martial Lord/Lady"., and the need for a strong military defense force was recognized. However, , Jolyu's father Taeyang had a different plan for her daughter. After hearing of how she had discovered her semblance, the proud but concerned father had arranged to send his daughter to a school, to train in the ways of the huntress. Jolyu was a loyal daughter, and despite her reservations against depriving her home of her talents, she obeyed her father's wishes. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Weapons[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Turtle and Dragon[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]When dormant, Turtle and Dragon looks like the bow across Jolyu's back in the image, except two or three times larger. However, when activated, that archaic looking piece of scrap wood unfolds into a massive shield (which resembles a transparent turtle's shell) with a dragon's head in the center which acts as a canon. Jolyu can adjust the angle of the canon with the bowstring. Despite having terrifying range and destructive power, the dragon exclusively uses Dust ordinance, and is little more than a really heavy shield and a solid drum if Miss Sun-Shin is caught with her proverbial pants down. However, in such desperate events, she can simply use it as the comically oversized bow it is (her massive size makes this feat possible, if a bit ridiculous). Despite the fact that she herself designed the Turtle and Dragon (or rather, revised a design that her grandfather had sketched), Jolyu is more comfortable with her weapon in its more archaic form.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Bukchae[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]At first glance, Jolyu Sun-Shin carries a pair of wooden mallets, like for a xylophone or a war drum, but closer inspection indicates that the ends of the drumsticks are hardened, but hollowed out . Jolyu fills the slots with dust gems to add secondary effects to her melee combat. Whilst in close quarters, she practical treats her opponent as a drum, laying down an uptempo rhythmic beatdown.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Semblance (Drums of War)[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]When Jolyu Sun-Shin beats her drum (usually her TaD, but she can improvise if need be), an unbelievable intensity radiates from her, literally glowing in blue flame. Any being with an aura who hears her drum beat feels that same intensity, they fight harder, faster, and without end until their enemy is routed. Lesser grimm may even be cowed.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]

Notable Attributes
[BCOLOR=transparent]While the demilitarized state of her home state left Sun-Shin without a formal training in tactics and the general art of war, she has a keen predilection for strategy. She also has a strong, nearly dogmatic sense of justice and honor, and will never forget an atrocity. Beyond all that, her strongest trait is her loyalty, first to the people of Korya, but as she grows into the role of a huntress, she will no doubt become a fierce friend to her team[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Despite carrying a massive shield and having a strong back, Jolyu has a slightly less resilient aura than most, however she has a strong spirit and is less likely to succumb to illusions or fear.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Motivation to Be a Huntress[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Things are complicated for Jolyu. She didn't choose to train as a Huntress. She only wanted to defend her home, however she stands to learn a great deal, and come back and protect her home even more fervently as a full fledged fighter.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]

Legend of the White Snake

appearance description
A 6'8", 250-plus lbs mountain of a woman. Colossal, built like a tank and shredded like a weightlifter, one would be forgiven for thinking she was some manner of immortal war goddess rather than a simple 18-year-old with good genes and warrior aspirations. Rare is the occasion she isn't the largest figure in any given room she finds herself in. She possesses jet-black hair, a strong jaw and brown eyes, but (size aside) her most striking feature is the distinctive tattoo running up the length of her arm, depicting a coiling green serpent.

biography
Any good map of Remnant will tell you where the known kingdoms lie. Better ones might show you the roads humanity built through the wilderness and the smaller settlements that litter the lands. But, this world being what it is, there are those places far from the light of the kingdoms, the points where the maps stop. The furthest frontiers of wilderness where there has been no expansion, no official colonies or settlements built. On these dangerous lands, the mapmakers will only write one thing: Here be monsters. Yet to say the cartographers have yet to chart these territories isn't quite the same as saying they are devoid of human presence. Oftentimes huntsmen and huntresses venturing deep into the wilds on their missions have brought back word of tribes who pushed further into the wilderness than others, who never truly settled down like most human groups outside the kingdoms.

From one such tribe hailed Qing You Xia. The Leifeng, though reclusive themselves, proved among the more sociable of the independent tribes; Dubbed the Snakes by outsiders for their distinctive tattoos, they were efficient hunters of meat and pelts and often returned from their forays into the deep wilds to trade with the more traditional villages of the continent. They followed their own values that made them fundamentally a force for good, with strength (of body or of character) and honor encompassing all and the unshakable belief that the one truth was mankind's capacity to judge good and evil, right and wrong, just and unjust, for itself. No higher power, fairy tale deity or governing body decided what was moral and what was not, humanity's own compassion did-- And as such, the Leifeng held no allegiance or unearned respect for any kingdom, cause or corporation. Their respect for the plight of the common man, however, was another story entirely. More than one folk tale circulated among the outer kingdom settlements of nights when the fearsome Snakes would charge forth from the treelines surrounding villages, warding off a Grimm or bandit attack.

Their nomadic existence brought them into frequent conflict with the Grimm, whom they tailored much of their existence around battling. Children were conditioned from a young age to suppress and become numb to the negative emotion that drew the creatures of darkness in droves. The Leifeng's warrior caste were of the highest esteem, with seven among them at all times granted the titles of the Seven Snakes, elite fighters who led the charge during any given engagement. They were led by the White Snake; the one recognized as the greatest living warrior among the tribe. Living on the front lines where humanity's territory gave way to the lands populated only by Grimm, they engaged in constant struggles with the monsters as part of their way of life, with casualties accepted as simply a natural byproduct of this.

All that is apparently in the past. Qing recently walked into the nearest kingdom, announced herself as the White Snake and proclaimed her tribe had been destroyed by the Grimm. Further detail was as sparse as could be expected from a member of the secretive clan. Whatever her motivation, however, after a few days of simply hovering around she asked where the warriors were and left to join them posthaste, enrolling in Ashea's Eden Academy because their recruiters were the first ones she came across.

weapon
None. Fists.

With a little compensation. Having little means to manufacture conventional weapons like those used in the kingdoms, the Leifeng tribe instead developed a means of weaponizing themselves. Just as traditionalists weaved unrefined Dust into clothes, the tribe's method was to weave it into their own bodies; specifically, their skin. The tattoos adorning Qing's figure are in fact infused with the primary colors of Dust, and during combat can be invoked through intense discipline to harness a given element's raw effects for destructive use.

semblance
Kineticism - Discovered when she was being clobbered into the dirt courtesy of a Beringel; she struck out with a wild blow and broke its neck. Her aura can absorb the kinetic energy of strikes and dish it back out with equal force added to the strength of her own blow, making her something like a punching bag that hits back just a little bit harder than the one punching it. She can absorb as much energy as she deems necessary (be it from one powerful hit or accumulative from a succession of strikes), but it must be expelled all at once as soon as possible - Attempting to absorb and retain higher amounts of energy would result in her aura doing damage to itself in an attempt to contain it. For example, were she to take a direct hit from something like a Geist in its Gigas form, it'd be critical for her to expel the energy in kind by hitting something within a matter of seconds; 10 or more and the toll on her aura would be too great to sustain, with potentially lethal consequences.

notable attributes and fighting style
Disciplined, focused and far more graceful than her size and musculature would suggest, as she frequently makes use of wind dust to maneuver herself and hone her acrobatic maneuvers. Backflips, wall-runs and high jumps are all common. She adopts a loose martial arts stance during combat that maximizes her ability to counter and redirect her opponent to her semblance's advantage, and has no qualms with taking hits to fuel it, acting as an immovable tank when doing so to the point of overconfidence.

motivation to be a huntress
A good death. Absolution.

npc or pc
The second one

extra
- Totally gonna develop her semblance to redirect more forms of energy than just kinetic one day

- There may be more to the biography than strictly divulged above because I like leaving things open to reveal IC sometimes (im difficult that way)

I had initially planned to give the Rooks weapons, but with their backstory and how I imagined them in my head, it just didn't seem right. It'd be cool to have all the bare knuckled fighters on one team though lol That'd be pretty interesting in my opinion.

[BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Motivation to Be a Huntress[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]

Looks good. Howeverrrr, as Faunus only have one animal trait, you'll need to choose between either the ears or the tail.

name
Qing You Xia

motif

- There may be more to the biography than strictly divulged above because I like leaving things open to reveal IC sometimes (im difficult that way)
egh i guess ill accept this nerd just this once. : |

So I just realized Duke and Windia's speech text colors are pretty much the same, if not identical.

#deepsigh
Heh, funnily enough, Audrey and Tee and Erin and MAI had the same colors as well.
