Appearance:
Character Quote: "Eh? Earn my keep? Stealing stuff is a lot of work, so I say that I've definitely earned anything I snagged."
Name: Laron Adelaide
Age: 23
Race: Human
Class: Thief
Weapon: Dual Knives
Personality & Background:
The various people that Laron had aided throughout his unorthodox "charity drives" all have one thing in common: "That man always has a smile on his face. Indeed, no matter what kind of situation the infamous thief finds himself in, he rarely ever loses his cool and always seems to find some sort of silver lining in them. Although his main source of livelihood is leeching off the product of the livelihood of others, he considers himself a cut above the rest of his bandit brethren since his actions aren't primarily motivated by self gain but rather a desire to help improve the lives of the people in the slums of Callela.
However, Laron has a difficult time trusting others specially after his father's partners betrayed him which consequently led to his arrest and imprisonment. Still he is protective of the people he had deemed trustworthy.
When it comes to work, Laron prefers low risk - high reward jobs if he could help it. Of course, such opportunities are more often than not hard to come by. Thus he exercises a lot of caution and precautions before, during, and after a heist. Due to the events that led to his father's arrest, Laron prefers doing his job alone. When forced to work with a partner, he would never let his guard down around them until after the job is over.

Abandoned as a child, it seemed like an early end was to be the fate of the unfortunate orphan. However, through some bizarre stroke of luck, Fritjov Adelaide, the man who would later become Laron's adoptive father accidentally stumbled upon him in a dark alleyway while he was making his escape from a heist. He didn't have the heart to abandon the baby after he had been alerted to its presence so he decided to bring the child with him and raise him as his own.
Growing up in the presence of thieves, it seemed inevitable for Laron to pick up the tricks of the trade as well. However, his father did not want the boy to grow up indiscriminately robbing the rich entirely motivated by self-profit. So when he realized that Laron had both the makings and the interest to become a thief, he decided to set the boy's moral compass first by starting to set an example for him. While he had only indiscriminately stolen goods and trinkets of value to sustain himself and the kid he had adopted all those year ago, he began targeting only the filthy rich during his heists. That meant working with other thieves, however, to increase the chances of pulling of a successful robbery.

Growing up in the presence of thieves, it seemed inevitable for Laron to pick up the tricks of the trade as well.
Even though Fritjov and his band of thieves had numerous successful heists, his colleagues disapproved of his tendency to selflessly give away his cut to the needy while only saving some for himself, considering such actions to be a waste of valuable resources.
It didn't come as a surprise to the Laron when his father's accomplices ended up betraying him during a heist on the Callelan Governor's home, which led to his arrest and imprisonment. Left with no guardian to tend to his needs, a 12 year-old Laron was thrust into applying what little knowledge he had gained from his father in order to earn himself the next proverbial meal.
His activities started small; pickpocketing unsuspecting customers while they were browsing the various wares displayed in the markets sprawled across Callela. While what he collected was usually enough to cover his expenses for a single day, the method was simply too unreliable as the number of people visiting the marketplace fluctuated as well as the amount and the value of the goods they have on them. Soon enough, he was no longer satisfied with just getting by day after day. There was no way he could improve his life by just settling with what scrap he could find inside people's bags and pockets. He needed a bigger, more sustainable catch... and upon gazing at a particular pudgy merchant counting the coin he had earned selling his wares did Laron realize the answer had been right under his nose all along.
Thus Laron changed the targets of his pilfering from unsuspecting tourists to the merchants littered across Callela itself. His change of "perspective" seemed to pay off almost instantly as he saw an exponential increase in profits with such a minor adjustment in his operations. Yet his criminal activities were short lived after being caught red-handed stealing a vat of prized Golden Great Bee honey and a couple of rare, seasonal Snow Potatoes which was regarded as a valuable commodity for their tenacious ability to grow even in the harshest winters. Instead of turning him in, however, the farmer offered the boy a new home.
Apparently, the farmer by the name of Carson Bauer was one of the beneficiaries of Fritjov's selflessness. When his land was about to be seized by the bank after failing to pay off a mortgage he had taken to be used as capital for his crops, Fritjov had given him enough money in jewels to pay off the mortgage as well as provide him enough capital for three harvests. Carson wanted to repay Fritjov's kindness but knew very well he was powerless to help the incarcerated thief, himself. That's why he decided to take care of Fritjov's boy instead as a way of repaying the kindness he had received from the boy's father.
After experiencing the kindness of a complete stranger whom his father had unhesitatingly aided in the past did Laron come to understand Fritjov's behavior. On that day, he swore to follow in his father's footsteps by helping the destitute families of Callela the same way Fritjov Adelaide had helped them in the past.
Nowadays, he would sometimes offer his services as a thief-for-hire to anybody who could afford them so long as he is paid up front and given a small cut of whatever items he steals for his clients.

Abilities:
- Lockpicking - the ability to open locks with varying degree of difficulty depending on the complexity of the lock.
- Merchant's Eye - an ability that allows the Laron to accurately appraise the value of any object.
- Knife Proficiency - Most of Laron's knowledge with knife fighting was taught to him by his father when he was still a thief-in-training. Still, he displayed an unusual precociousness with the usage of bladed weapons that surprised even his father. While in no way a master of the art of knife fighting, Laron considers his skills to be above the skills of an average thief.
- Night's Veil - an ability he acquired from a ring he had stolen from an eccentric, and rich individual's collection. The ring originally acquired Laron's interest due to its intricate yet somehow foreign design and immediately thought it had some value. He also retrieved a piece of faded parchment which he assumed had some connection with the ring. However he learned about the true nature of the ring when he decided to read the only intelligible word written on the parchment, "Ephemeral", while wearing the strange piece of jewelry out of boredom and realized it has the ability to grant its wielder invisibility upon activation. However, he also discovered that he can only maintain the ability for a maximum of 7 minutes per day.
Since the origin of the ring itself remains a mystery, he speculated that he had yet to unlock the secrets and the true potential of the ring. Since the artifact proved to be invaluable in his line of work, Laron decided to keep the artifact to himself instead of selling it on the black market like he usually did to all the valuable trinkets he came across. "It's nothing more than a personal investment towards the continued success of my "career" were the words he used to convince himself to make such a decision.
