Naild took Rebecca's hand and led ehr back tot he room they'd been in before. "It probably sounds boring, but I really like learning about the past, and the great things our ancestors did to amke our people great." he looked at her to see if she'd be laughing at him like most people did. He was an odd kind of kid, not really ever allowing himself to be a child, but taking care of his mom and doing things most kids his age wouldn't do even if they had to.

Varen nodded, "It will be dark soon," he said as he rose, "We should head back to the village. There are many predators in this forest. Until you have had time to learn of them all...it would be wise to be home before dark." He didn't think she was weak or ill able to fight, but some of the predators were the kind that would lie in wait. They had the advantage of cover and knowledge of the terrain. Even someone like himself who knew the forests and the dangers well could be taken unawares.

Andrew paced his little hovel, as he thought of it, thinking of ways to entice the young queen. Sure'y she would recognize his worth and his handsome good looks, for procreation purposes. They would make beautiful babies the two of them. he could almost see the children now. He'd never had trouble drawing women under his spell before, this would be no exception. he would offer his services tomorrow...she would be his in no time.

Rebecca didn't find any moments with Niald boring. She loved that he was as serious as she was, neither of them had much time or chance for innocent behavior. They explored the room more closely. "I like history. It's always constant, yet changing as we move on to the future. Only our Seer knows what could happen tomorrow." She said, reading up on the gorgeous ruby and sapphire pendant, which Queen Aura had worn to her Coronation. The queen had been Lauranas own image and likeness. But Laurana had grown up on Earth for safety. No wonder she had taken awhile to adjust to magic here.

"Youre right. I'll head for home then. It was a very enjoyable. I hope we can spend time like this again soon. But tomorrow well ask about becoming guards." she began headed towards the village with Varen. He was good as a companion. She didn't worry that he thought her weak. She was more concerned about someone finding out just how much she was holding back.

Meanwhile, Sheena kicked and slammed against the bars of the cage, swearing worse than any banshee or demon. She wished that stupid whore daughter of hers was down here. Shed break Rebecca's neck, or stab her with the poison tipped dagger she had in her boot. Foolish, dipshit fae queen.....and that vapid, love sick puppy, Caden ...neither of them nor that single, armed guard watching her had searched her even once.....or had Andrew deliberately left her with one weapon? Who cared, she thought. Shed stab the first fae tard that got close to her...and escape from all of them..she did need Rebecca though, and began to send a wave of bad dreams, as well as telepathic pulls on the girl's mind and spirit.....pleading her to come to the dungeon that night....all alone.

Naild nodded, "And there are things we can learn from it as well," he added as he looked at the suit of armor that a white fae had worn in a battle with the Douglas. "It doesn't seem this armor did much good," he said looking at it's condition. "Even the seer doesn't always know what she is seeing," he threw out there, "The future is a dangerous place to go. I think there is a reason we don't know...how crippling it would be to your life in the present?"

Caden made his way back to their room and climbed into bed next to Laurana cuddling her close very glad she was still asleep. She needed the rest, and so did their child. He rested his hand on her stomach and smiled.

Varen bowed slightly when she spoke of spending more time together, "I would be honored," he said in a very gentlemanly manner. He was a very formal genteel sort of person. He was not easily known or open about himself, though he was always willing to listen to others and help where he could. For this reason, he'd always had many friends among the fae, but there had never been another centaur here. He was finding it pleasant indeed. "We shall do so," he said, "But perhaps you would allow me the honor of preparing dinner for you afterward."

Andrew had not even checked Sheena for weapons. He hadn't needed to and didn't think Laurana did either. The royals were the only fae with magic of their kind, and that gave them a HUGE advantage over any other fae. He was arrogant enough to rest in that knowledge. He was thinking about the woman though, perhaps she could be of use to him. yes, perhaps she was exactly the tool he needed to get the Queen to see they were meant to rule together.

Rebecca smiled at Nialds wisdom, glad he was wilth her, despite all the brutality he'd seen her go through. Most people wouldn't have interfered or tried to save her. She was glad the centaurs had been there as well! Indeed the future was murky at best, and glancing at the battered knights armor, she knew that knowledge wouldn't save anyone from an untimely death. She felt alone in her struggle with her mother. As if the room itself wanted to let her know how unimportant she was. "Let's look at other rooms, Niald." She said, squeezing his hand."I'm good with not knowing the future..but its nice to know things are secure." She added.

Jasmine really liked Varens company. He was as kind as anyone could be, and very intelligent. "That sounds fantastic."At her house, she got plenty of rest. She knew she and Varen had a big day tomorrow. "Will we have dinner at my place or yours?" She asked.

Laurana felt Caden slip in to bed with her, and curl up next to her. She fell into an easier sleep. She felt so much safer in his arms.

Sheena spent the day pacing her cell. Fury scalding her very soul.As she waited for everyone to sleep, she waited for her stupid daughter to arrive.....she knew Rebecca would show up.

Naild smiled, "Maybe there is an armory somewhere," hes aid and then blinked, "But we don't have to go there...we can go wherever you want. Whatever makes you happy." He was determined NOT to be selfish when he was with her. He was going to make sure she was treated better than she ever had been, and hopefully never regret being his friend. He figured eh'd have to get her used to the idea of him being around, and then get her used to the idea that he loved her, and then somehow talk her into marrying him. he was even determined to enjoy kissing, he was serious about this.

Varen wasn't as quick to make judgments about people, but he was very glad to have another centaur around. "I thought I was clear in that I was inviting you to dine at my home, so I could make dinner for you." he said, "But if you would feel uneasy...I can prepare it and bring it to your home."

Andrew finally had a plan in his mind, and went to sleep with a smile on his lips.

Rebecca smiled at Nialds interest in the armory. She wanted to see all of her new home, she wasnt certain how long fate would allow her to live here, what with Lauranas new born well on the way, and all knew it would be a future king. She might have to stay someplace else....right? Her mother always said no one in their right minds would ever want to keep such a useless, no talent, drudge child like her forever. Sir Caden and Queen Laurana also hadn't mentioned how long they would keep her....or did they? Realizing she was spacing out, She jolted herself back to reality. "The armory is fine, but Niald, you should head home soon.I love spending time together. But your mom and Morden will worry if you stay out too late. Don't get in trouble for me." She didnt want Serena thinking her son was in danger again.

Soon Jasmine blushed, having misheard Varen! "No, your place is fine, thank you." She added glad as well tor his company. She had a lot to look forward to!

Niald shook his head, "I won't," he assured her, "I am not going to do anything that will give them a reason to say I can't come and see you," He was a very direct and honest young man. He wasn't making any half hearted messages to her. he wanted to spend time with her, and he was going to be around. He hoped she'd continue to allow it. "I have time to see another room. How about...whatever that room is right there.." he pointed across the hall to a large door, "Let's see what it is." He reached for her hand and walked with her to the door and pushed the one door open. Inside was a huge ornate room with a gleaming floor. "What is this place?' he wondered. It was a ballroom, but Niald had never seen such a thing.

Varen nod, "Then we shall dine at my home, once we are finished at the castle." he said as they moved through the forest and back to the village. They were set upon by another of those huge spiders, though not as large as the one in the house earlier, but still large enough to do damage if it got either of them in it's web or was able to bite them. "Look out!" he said as he saw it falling toward them, "Don't let it bite you!'

Rebecca grinned, appreciating his honesty and sureness of wanting to be with her. She felt someone tugging at her mind however, and felt fairly certain it was her mother. But she ignored it, and stood in complete awe in the next room, a ballroom at that! Wow, what a place! There were gold and sapphire tiled floors that went miles, a high domed ceiling with bejeweled chandaliers, lots of long tables of cherry oak that were each covered in white or blue cloths. The brilliance took her breath away. "I'd love to dance in here someday...." She said, imagining dozens of other fae enjoying a royal party, complete with an enormous feast, knights guarding the dancers, and soft conversations...

Varens warning almost went heeded too late! Jasmine saw the massive spider, cursed herself silently for letting her guard down, and readied one of her arrows, knotching the bow taught, she took aim for its stomach and let it fly. She didn't want to rely on her elemental gifts yet. But if there were more, she might have to torch them!

Naild looked at her, "Oh..is this a dancing room?" he asked, "Maybe Laurana and Caden will hold a great party now that the fae have returned to the glen." He wanted her to be happy, so he'd probably even ask Caden if they could do that so Rebecca could dance. Without letting her know he'd asked of course. He would find ways to make her happy even when he wouldn't get the credit for it. he wanted to be the one who did things to make her happy. "I guess I better learn to dance.." he said out loud.

Varen was watching, and also let loose an arrow. These spiders were solitary unless...they had a brood of children. The children would be smaller, but just as deadly, and sometimes even moreso because they could not control how much venom they used like the adult spiders could. Their arrows hit their marks but it seemed to just enrage the spider and it began casting out webbing in every direction blindly as a few babies dropped down to join her. They were smaller but still a good two feet across. "Perhaps withdrawal would be wise," he said to her but webbing had his feet trapped and he was slashing at it with his sword.

Rebecca grinned. She went and looked further into the room. Suddenly though, she felt very tired. It had been an exciting, but fun day. "On second thought....can you come back tomorrow...early? I want a whole day of exploring. Maybe we can picnic in the gardens too." she said smiling. She really did need sleep. But she wanted to spend a longer time with him the next day after they'd both rested.

Jasmine cursed again. As more of those damn spiders dropped, she fired a volley of arrows, retreating carefully. Yet staying near Varen to protect him. "Ok...ill explain later...but this should just give us time to run." she launched a huge ball of fire into the swarm, where it smashed into the horde, dissapating them into smoky, bad smelling ashes! "Let's get out of here first." She suggested, hurrying away with Varen.

Naild nodded, "You do look a bit tired," he admitted, "I should have noticed before now. Forgive me." He went with her back to her room and then bowed to her before smiling, "I will be back after breakfast. A picnic sounds great." He ran home and once there he raced around looking fro Morden and his mother. Finding them on the sofa cuddling he rolled his eyes a bit. "Is that all you two do?" he asked but then waved his hand, "never mind that...I need to learn to dance..."

Morden looked at him and chuckled, "Tonight?" he asked, "Can it wait till morning?"

Naild huffed, "I have a little time I think, but not tomorrow. I am going to explore the palace with rebecca and have a picnic. But tomorrow night...I have to learn. it's important."

Morden nodded, "I can see that," he said, "Tomorrow night you will learn. Why don't you go get some sleep. it's been a long day."

Naild nodded, "Yeah I need to rest. Good night," he said and kissed his mother's cheek before he elft them.

Morden blinked a bit, "What do you think that was all about?"

Varen had finally hacked the webbing off his legs when she said she would explain alter. he watched as fire flew from her and burned the spiders. He didn't question it, just took off toward town in case there were more babies lurking somewhere. They wouldn't likely fare well without the mother if there were, because they had natural predators as well, but he didn't want to encounter any more either. They were back at town, because of their dead run in only a few moments. he looked at her, "Are you ok?" he asked looking her over carefully. His eyes moved to her face then and he leaned a bit closer, "Thank you...had I been alone i would be no more."

They parted ways then and the village was still and quiet, a moment of peace for the fae, but that was not to last long. The dawn brought a new day, and new challenges...it always did.

******************* Early the next morning******************

Caden kissed Laurana when he woke, "Good morning beautiful!" he said and then kissed her belly, "And you as well Son."

Alna woke and stretched, rolling to the edge of the bed and slipping her feet into her slippers. She got out of bed and made her way to the kitchen to make eggs, bacon and toast for breakfast. this kitchen was so familiar to her that everything was easy, and she was enjoying it. However, she wanted to be more of Nathan. She was ready to go and speak to the queen.

Varen slept fitfully, but woke early and ate a hearty breakfast. he wanted to be strong for any activity the Queen might require of him. He'd had to apply a poultice to his leg, since eh's accidentally cut it while hacking off the webbing last night, but it would heal well and quickly with the aid of the poultice. He went out into the square to watch for Jasmine before approaching the castle.

Naild was the first one up, and was preparing breakfast for everyone, so they could eat and he could get to the castle. he didn't want to wait any longer than necessary.

When Niald left, Rebecca was escorted back to her room. She showered, changed into a pink silk nightgown, and fell asleep. However, she felt something pull her out of a good dream...mother was calling her...begging her to come talk to her. Rebecca, too used to obeying Sheena, got out of bed, put her feet into her slippers, and headed to the dungeon. It was cold and damp, making her shiver. She saw Sheena, half asleep in her cell. "Why'd you do it mom....? Why did you try to kill me?" She asked. She was just inches from the bars now. Sheena opened hee eyes at the question and smiled cruelly. "Like I ever wanted to be a single mother..I could have remarried, but no one wanted another fae man's daughter .....you were such a burden......" Sheena withdrew her poison dagger quick as a snake. "But now you're going to help me get out." Sheena added, grabbing Rebecca by her long hair and slamming the girl's back against the icy cold bars. She stabbed her daughter with the poisoned dagger, then twisted the knife deeper into her side. Rebecca screamed in pain, but was soon silenced in a choke hold death grip.."No ones going to look for you....whore." Sheena promised, throwing Rebecca away from her, where she fell face first near the stairs. Waves of intense cold, nausea and sringing fire crashed inside her. She tried to move, as suddenly, Sheena was out of the cell, and standing over her, lifting her chin to look at Rebecca's pain filled eyes. "You'll be dead by the afternoon. Good riddance." with that, Sheena headed up the stairs.

Serena just grinned at Morden. "No telling, other than he really is in love." She added, wrapping her arms around his waist. She rested her head against his shoulder, happy to listen to the quietness of the house. Soon it would be morning.

Jasmine shook her head. "No, just a mild scratch...I guess its safe to tell you:.I have control over all five elements, and I've been hunted for my powers...I'm kind of a magnet for trouble....so I feel I should warn you." In her own house that night, she kept thinking about Varens concerned eyes. She was lucky to have met him.

Nathan dressed for the occasion, he was ready to go see Laurana, Caden and their newest addition, Rebecca. Guiding Alna, he took her to the palace. Once there, a guard escorted them to the throne room."I do not know if their majesties are awake yet. I'll go find out." the guard left, going to find Queen Laurana and Caden.

Laurana woke before Caden did, but not refreshed. She felt drained, a tad ill even, but she shook her head. . Clearing it. She took a drink of water, feeling a little better. She watched Caden rest, seeing his chest rise and fall peacefully. But she couldnt stay in bed all day, shed done that yesterday and got nothing but nightmares. She rose and dressed in a dark blue shirt and matching pants. Shed be moving around too much to be dressed nice. Shed check on Rebecca herself, see if the girl needed anything.

Rebecca had no sense of time passing as she lied on the cold, freezing floor. Numb from head to toe, she blamed herself for what happened. Shed been warned, several times by Niald, Caden, and Laurana. She hadn't listened....and as her mother said, no one would look for her. She tried unsuccessfully to pull herself up....but the pain was astounding. She had never felt anything this bad. Crying silently, she bled profusely, the wound leaking bright red blood like a gyser. She tried to move again, but the pain was too much. Stubbornly, she crawled towards the stairs but had to stop often. Still, she realized when she used her other side, she could move a little better. Finally at the stairs, she pulled herself up the rest of the way. Staggering, she yanked the dagger out of her side. She stumbled up the stairs, not able to really concentrate. She had to warn Laurana and Caden. Gods knew what that woman would do to whoever she met!

Naild was having a very hard time waiting for them to come to breakfast. he felt anxious and there was a pain in his side that just would not go away. He wondered if perhaps he's pulled something while he slept, but he knew better. Something was wrong.

Morden and Serena had spent a bit of time dancing themselves last night, he'd said he needed to brush up a bit if he was going tot each Niald, but he really just wanted to hold her in his arms and dance. They awoke to the smell of breakfast and he laughed softly, "He is in a hurry to get back tot eh castle it seems.." he said and kissed Serena's cheek as he rolled out of bed. "No sense torturing the poor boy." he dressed quickly and made his way to the kitchen.

Niald was now pacing anxiously, "It's about time!" he said and raced over to Morden, "Something is very wrong...I can feel it..." he said and put his hand to his side, "Pain...she is hurt..I just know it!"

Morden looked down at the boy and frowned, "Calm down Niald," he urged him, "How is hurt?"

Niald almost whined, "Rebecca..."

Morden knew this was totally out of character for Niald, and looking over his shoulder at Serena, "I better go with him and check..." he said and pulled his boots on quickly and they went to the palace at just about a dead run. He saw Varen there and he nodded but said nothing. They did not even acknowledge the gate guard but rushed past. Niald ran for Rebecca's room, but she was not there, "Oh NO!" he said and then took fof for the dungeon, "She went to see her mother..." He screamed at the top of his lungs. He found her trying to walk up the stairs. there was blood everywhere and he raced to ehr side and scooped her up with strength that came from sheer desperation and panic. He got to the top of the stairs and fell to his knees holding her. "Don't leave me....please don't die."

Morden saw him with her and all the blood and knew they needed Caden. He was experience healing, even this type of thing. He saw laurana come out of a room, "Laurana! Get Caden...hurry!" He looked back at Rebecca, "What did she do love?" he asked, "How did she hurt you?"

Varen watched the two sprint by him and frowned. there was an odd chill in the air at the moment, and the hair of his mane was standing on end. He saw Jasmine then and motioned to her to hurry, "Something is wrong in the palace..." He was in full trot then too when he heard the young boy scream. He too ignored the palace guard, or more to the point the guard just gave them a wide berth as they ran into the palace. He saw the young girl and the boy and the Queen and very quickly surmised what had happened. He looked at a guard, "Go see if the woman is still in her cell," he ordered and the guard instantly obeyed. His nostrils were flared and his right hoof was stamping at the ground in agitation.

Alna enjoyed the breakfast with Nathan, and with his help had donned her most lovely outfit, one fit for a meeting with the queen. "How do I look?" she asked.

Serena was enjoying her time with Niald and Morden, and dancing lessons sounded great indeed! But when Niald felt Rebeccas pain, she knew the two were destined as soulmates. Saddened by the troubles, Serena watched Morden and Niald race off to the palace.

Jasmine had a feeling the trouble would happen because of that Sheena woman. Such a tragedy that ungrateful harrigan would hate her own child so horribly. She raced as fast as Varen to the palace, Neely barreling over a guard!

Laurana couldnt breathe as she entered the entrance to the dungeon. There stood Niald, holding a bloodied Rebecca. The girl was barely conscious when Laurana instantly summoned Caden, hoping he'd respond quickly. The girl groaned in pain. "This dagger....somehow she had it.....poisoned....not the f ..first time I was poisoned....mom experimented on me with black magic sometimes.....but....she said ill be dead by this afternoon.....she never wanted me because I'm useless. No talents or anything....so....I'm sorry Niald...Laurana and Caden might not be able to heal me. Its okay Niald...ill miss you, and you too Laurana and Caden.....but I'm getting so tired and cold..... Tell ....mom ......I'm sorry I was a disappointment....." Her eyes closed, the jewel blue brightness a duller shade. Her skin was pale as snow, the brightest part of her was her long red hair.. it felt nice, being held by Laurana and Niald. The dark was dragging her further away from the life that had shown so much violence.

Sheena raced past the palace, to Andrews house with speed she didn't know she had. Shed stopped briefly to wash her daughter's blood from her hands and face before hurrying along. She was positive Laurana and Caden would fail to cure the poison, which only she knew the cure to, was the rare plants: star glories. Brilliant blue, purple, red, or golden flowers that looked like stars, which grew in the caves or dark wooded areas. Knocking loudly on the front door, she hoped Andrew was home!

Nathan agreed Alna looked great, and escorted her to the palace. They arrived early that morning, but there was obviously something seriously wrong, as he watched Jasmine and Varen race into the palace ahead of them.

Naild shook his head, "No it is not ok, Rebecca," he said to her, "You stop talking like that. You are not a disappointment. You have talents and you are smart. I don't care if she did not want you, I want you...everything will be fine once Caden gets here."

Caden heard the summons and shot up out of bed and raced to where he could feel Laurana. he saw Rebecca in Naild's arms and frowned deeply, "What happened?" eh asked but he heard the end of her tale and the word poison. He groaned. "That damned woman,." he cursed and laid his ahnds on Rebecca's side where the wound was. He looked at Morden, "Check that dagger, find out what she used..."

Morden nodded retrieving the dagger carefully he placed the dagger on a plate and then raced to the kitchens. he gathered everything he needed and then raced back to the plate. He poured the items and herbs onto the palte and then cast a verbal spell over it in an ancient language:

D7EGC8JuFCUSbhfy_CgT_weF

He stood and waited for the spell to reveal the dark evil of the dagger and cursed loudly. "Star Glories...how the hell will we find those quickly enough?" he asked.

Varen lowered his head, "Can the queen not simply call them to herself?" he asked remembering Queen Aura doing so in the past.

Alna frowned as they entered the palace. They seemed to have arrived at a particularly bad time. She heard Morden say Star Glories and gasped. They were forbidden to be used in any way. "Take me to Caden please Nathan," she said. Once she was near to him, "Place a spell of rest on her, the kind I taught you for when people were near death. It will slow the rate of the poison spreading through her and give more time."

Caden nodded, "Of course," he agreed and wondered why he hadn't thought of that. He placed Rebecca into a nearly comatose state where she appeared to be dead. Even her pulse would not be felt at all. He looked up at Laurana, "Have you ever seen a Star Glory?' he asked. He knew you ahd to KNOW what something was for it to be magically called to you. He wasn't sure she'd ever seen one.

Laurana soon found the palace full of people, her own eyes were red from holding back tears. "I haven't, Caden...but if you send images of the star glories in my mind I will conjure them here at once ...and how will we give them to Rebecca? Through a tea, or simply have her eat them?" She wanted all the information, becauae time was very limited. As Caden put Rebecca in a camatose trance, Laurana was able to at least heal the massive wound and even make the excess blood vanish from the girls and her own, clothing. Next she made certain Rebecca would only have pleasant dreams until she was cured. Then she waited for Caden to send her the image, thanking Varen for the reminder. She saw Alna visibly upset about the star glories, but couldn't break her concentration.

Jasmine worried deeply about Rebecca, as did Nathan. This one child had already been tortured far too much at the hands of her own mother. Sheena must be killed, or these tragedies would only get worse.

Caden called over to Morden, "What color did she use?' he asked, "Aren't those color specific?" he asked trying to recall.

Alna nodded her head, "They are, and they have been forbidden for centuries because of it. there is no telling how they will affect a person or animal. They were thought to be a great healing component when they were first discovered, but they killed far more people than they healed. So they were ruled a poison, but even as a poison they are unpredictable."

Morden waited, "She used purple...AND blue." He shook his head. As if messing with forbidden magic wasn't enough she had to combine them.

Alna sighed. "We will have to know the exact ratios. take careful note Morden."

Caden sent the images to Laurana's mind, "Concentrate on one at a time. Make three of each in case we have to make more than one antidote."

Varen waited for the guard and frowned when he returned and just shook his head. He looked at Nathan, "I was head of the palace guard when Queen Aura was here. I will find this woman." He didn't ask if he could, or wait for permission. he just turned and left the group to tend to the child and went outside the palace to find her trail.

Naild was holding Rebecca, stroking her hair gently, "Sleep...it will help." He was praying too. He had not prayed since he was little when he prayed for his dad to come back and he didn't. But he prayed now, hoping for a miracle. he did not want her to die.

Little did any of them know, the star flowers granted more than just cures and antidotes! some of the fae died from the cures because the fever it induced often shot sky high. It took away the poisons, replacing it with nearly god like powers and incredibly strong psychic abilities. But this happened only if the fae survived the cure.

Laurana concentrated on the star flowers, reflecting Cadens images. She conjured several of them in all the different colors, then watched as they appeared by the handfulls. She then looked at Morden. "Do we make them as a tea now, or what happens next?" She wanted Rebecca to get well fast.

Jasmine stared at Varen as he galloped after Sheena, then bowed to Queen Laurana. She took off after him, not wanting him to be in danger. She caught up with him at the gates, not speaking for several moments as they hunted for Sheena. That foul woman had much to answer for!

Nathan approved of the centaurs as guards,.but was unsure how Caden and Laurana would feel. He held Alnas hand tightly, staring at Rebecca's pale face. Hed no idea what the poor girl had been through in her whole life, but he felt ashamed he hadn't inquired the nature of her numerous bruises that everyone had seen daily on the girls arms and face.

Someone was tugging at Rebecca's spirit....encouraging her to leave all this pain and abuse behind. But even though she was camatose, unable to move or open her eyes, she felt in the back of her mind, Niald holding her, stroking her hair as if it were bird feathers. She tried to stay grounded, to remember what did make her happy in life. Naturally,Niald was the best anchor she had...

Morden started moving the pants to the kitchen the second they began appearing. He needed to grind them in exact proportions or they would kill Rebecca, not heal her. He was concentrating and being extremely careful. He knew Tea would be difficult because the girl was too weak to drink enough of it to be effective, so he created a serum instead that they could inject. It would be faster and they would know within minutes if it would work. He returned with the vial. "We need a syringe..."

Caden heard the words and almost before they were spoken the syringe appeared. "What of the fever?' he asked remembering something about that from a book.

Morden sighed, "If she starts to spike a fever the two of you will have to keep her cool."

Alna stood with Nathan, "The flower itself can stop the fever if you put the nectar from the petals on her forehead. Or so the old tales say...it must be from the red one though..." She was holding tight to Nathan's hand hoping this worked. This poor child did not deserve this. And...if the old tales were true, she would gain second sight, and then she would not longer be needed in that capacity. Perhaps this was all part of a larger plan.

Naild saw the needle and looked away from it. he was terrified. All this talk of fever and poison was scaring him. But, he was still speaking softly to Rebecca, "Don't listen to that, listen to me," hes aid, "You are not supposed to go yet. You can't go. I need you and I want to explore more of the palace with you, and we have not gone into the forest yet, or even seen the whole gardens, so you see...you simply cannot leave yet. You have too much to do."

Meanwhile:

Andrew heard the knock and he knew who it was before he ever opened the door. her evil aura arrived before her. He opened the door and smiled his most charming smile, "Sheena...." he said ushering her inside, "I was just thinking about you."

Varen found her tracks and started after he. He was aware of Jasmine's presence but like her he was too busy following tracks to actually talk. As they moved though he had an idea, "Jasmine," he said turning his torso to face her slightly, "Does your magic happen to include being able to freeze someone solid without killing them?

Laurana followed Mordens directions perfectly, being extremely careful as she injected the blue, purple, and pink starflowers into the girls bloodstream, sealing the wound with more healing. It didn't take long....soon enough, the fever set in, beginning the process of healing all that poison in her system. Laurana could have cried for Rebecca, and Niald. The two were obviously life partners, even though they were young. By all her powers, and her mother's past magic, she wanted to end Sheena for good. Never again would that terror be allowed in the palace or anywhere near Rebecca. The girl winced in her sleep, but kept her burning face on Nialds shoulder, the pain becoming extremely bad, all over. She held Nialds hand a bit tighter, falling into a deeper void.

Jasmine thought a moment. "Matter of fact, I can manipulate air to freeze water as I direct it. I'll be glad to demonstrate on that woman especially." She understood his anger, his fury. She hated Sheena with the reasoning that no child deserved bad treatment from their own parents!

Sheena looked at Andrew, closely. "I can help get Caden out of the way so you can corner Queen Laurana. Rebecca may also be a,key distraction for our plans. Knowing their powers, I'm sure they're healing her right now with starflower herbs. And all I need in return, is sanctuary, especially from those centaur fools. That Jasmine...she is dangerous." Sheena hoped Andrew would agree. If not, shed probably slip poison in his food.

Nathan sensed Alnas thoughts. Couldn't read them, but the desparation in her eyes told him that she was willing to hope Rebecca not only got better, but would have second sight. But then who would guide Rebecca, to train her new magic...? The fever must have been growing, because he then saw Laurana placing the red star flower on the young girls forehead. The dagger was still on the ground next to her, covered with Rebecca's blood. He badly wanted to help in some way, even Morden knew more about this stuff than he did. Good old Nathan, never really part of anything. He had Alna now though, which was a miracle in itself.Mostly to break the tense silence, and not even a monster attack would pry Niald away from Rebecca, he knew he had to help, somehow. "Should I get anything for her? A cool wash rag, maybe some blankets....anything at all?" He asked, pulling up a chair for Alna. He wondered too, if she saw what would happen to Rebecca in the next few days....
