[Hogwarts; Quidditch Pitch]

A slight ghost of a smirk crossed Melinda's expression as she watched Zedekiah suffer her punishment. It was unfortunate that she had silenced him before the kick. Hearing him cringe in pain would have satisfied her all the more together with watching him suffer. However, the deed had been done and she congratulated herself for still having it. She didn't seem to have lost all of her fire it seemed.

The brother seemed to enjoy the sight just as much as she did, teasing the Gryffindor a little before he started to glare harshly at something, or someone, behind them. What, or who, could it be that deserved such a heated glare from the older twin? Turning around Melinda paled up as she realised that it was Madi that was spying on them. "Merlin," she cursed to herself. Why did the captain had to step on the field, and see her, just when she stopped her warming up? Cursing at the terrible timing the twins and Madi had, Melinda prayed to the heavens that the captain would let her explain the situation. She didn't want to face the punishment her childhood friend had in foresight for not following her orders.

"We're engaged."

Snapping her attention back to the long haired boy Melinda wasn't quite sure what she heard. Them? Engaged? She with him? Alistair? If his brainless counterpart hadn't been silenced earlier Melinda would have hexed this one as well. However, she figured that she shouldn't be too trigger-happy and wait for the Slytherin to finish at least. She couldn't help but to deepen her glare, however, this all sounded so ridiculous. It had to be a terrible joke.

Just when Alistair mentioned that the letter should explain it all another owl swooped in, dropping an envelope that was sealed with their school emblem. Raising a brow the short girl looked up to both Alistair and Zedekiah, her eyes suspicious as she wondered what the school had to do with the private matters of students. Or perhaps he meant the package of earlier? She was expecting post today, seeing as it was her birthday. With a sigh Melinda decided to unseal the package she had tugged under her arm first. That one seemed to be private post, so more likely to contain a message about a possible engagement. "If this turns out to be a joke your fate shall be far worse than his," she threatened as she made a nod towards Zed.

Holding up the parchment Melinda recognised the neat handwriting of her mother. A few questions that asked her about her wellbeing. A few lines that was reprimanding her for her recent behaviour, for it had been far from what was becoming of a lady and as a respectable member of a pureblood family.

Lastly it contained a joyful wish for her birthday from the household. The wish also included that, now that Melinda was sixteen, she was expected to take a more mature role in society and as to signify that change, she had been formally engaged to…

Dropping her arm Melinda's face paled up as she repeated the name inside of her mind. Alistair Blackbourne. Mr. hair-is-longer-than-you-are was the one her parents had decided to engage her with. Because she seemed to be able to get along with the twins when she was small. Because they were both purebloods with a similar vision. "It can't be," she mumbled with a frown. Raising her arm up again Melinda reread the sentence, her eyes going over the letter frantically to look for a sign to see if it was a joke, if it was all just a well-crafted prank.

She found nothing. Only the wish from her mother that she wouldn't reject the idea too harshly, that she would take this all in with pride and not dishonour the family. How was her mother expecting Melinda to take this in with pride and honour?! She was being robbed from her freedom here! Clenching the parchment a little tighter Melinda didn't notice how the letter was wrinkling in front of her. That until Valentino stroke next to her, picking her head lightly with his beak. Snapping back Melinda glared at the owl before finishing the letter.

One thing was certain. She wasn't allowed to reject it on her own. Not alone, that would be disgraceful and a humiliation to the other, but if she could have the other agree with her, that this was all a terrible idea, then she was saved, right? She had heard Lorene mention it so often as well before she got engaged. If she didn't like the one she was set up with she could easily just discuss with the other that it wasn't going to work and they would both reject. A mutual agreement wasn't seen as an humiliation, a rejection, or a disgrace. It just meant that they were mismatched. This engagement was doomed to fail, so what reason did Alistair have to accept this all? It was clear that they were mismatched! Clear to her and probably to him as well. Sucking in a breath Melinda was convinced that the Slytherin came here to discuss the matter of mutually disagreeing to the idea. Yes, that had to be it. She had to calm down. She had to play it cool.

Folding the letter in half with a stern expression the dark haired girl looked up at the Slytherin, ready to discuss how they were going to explain that this engagement was doomed to fail, fated to become an unhappy marriage. "So, what is our reasoning going to be?" she asked almost nonchalantly, hoping that Alistair had some ideas in mind. Reminding herself that there was also a letter from school Melinda proceeded to unseal the envelope as well. "You can think of a plausible excuse to blow this engagement off, I will join you after this letter," Melinda continued, her eyes sharp as she was hoping that the Slytherin wouldn't let her down.

Her eyes fleeted over the letter that she received from the headmistress, McGonagal. Again her expression paled up as she read about the serial hexer that was going around in the hallways. Great, just great. Along with the pressure of preparing for the Quidditch match, the fact that she got engaged and had to seek for an escape, she was now called out on her prefect duties. Why did fate always decide to throw all drama all onto one heap in a short amount of time? Why couldn't it be nicely divided over the past six years she had spent on this enormous school where everything could go wrong any other day and any week? Why did she have to run into one after another problem exactly in her sixth year. Why did it all come together when she was a prefect, when she was turning sixteen, and apparently old enough for an engagement. Why when she was being the stupidest she had ever been in her life!

A bubbling sensation of frustration was welling up within the girl as she felt hopelessness fill her up. This endless string of bad events. First the troll incident, then the DADA accident, to add in whatever had happened at the party of last night, and now this! The engagement, the Quidditch match and the serial hexer. Granted, at least one of the problems was caused by her own melancholy and listlessness, and thus her own fault, while the engagement was easily solved with the cooperation of Alistair, but could fate at least smile at her once, give her a kind and gentle break called peace?

A groan of frustration escaped Melinda as she threw her hands up. If it can go wrong it will definitely go wrong, everything that could go wrong was going wrong. If Melinda had been born a muggle, or interested herself more in their world she would have known that this was called; Murphy's law. Alas, she didn't know about this formula, but it definitely applied to her and her life at the current moment. It was plainly put; a disaster in which everything went wrong that could go wrong.

"Okay, let's fix this," she mumbled as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Please tell me you have an idea ready, I have more things to do today," Melinda pleaded with Alistair, feeling the stress building up within her.

Great Hall

Once the two girls had sat at the table, Anice's mind went on it's own. She grabbed a good amount of sweets from the platters on the table and didn't wait to stuff her face with their sweet contents. To say the Slytherin prefect was hungry was an understatement. The familiar sugary taste caressed her taste buds individually, sending her into a state of complete tranquility. She couldn't pin point exactly what it was about sugar that calmed her nerves, but she could probably write a 20 page paper about why she believed it did. Though she'd probably go into prose about the one-of-a-kind sensation it gave her and end up writing a 50 page poem about the love of her life that was sugar.

That was where her mind had wandered while the half-breeds threw their sarcastic comments and playful banter towards each other. Her brown eyes looking off while she chewed on a cinnamon roll. However she was pulled back into reality when she heard the harsh clatter of a tea cup hitting the table. Caught off guard, she jumped and clutched her chest with one hand. She noticed one of the muffins on her plate had fallen onto the table due to her little scare but it was much to small a detail for her to worry about people noticing. She looked at the dhampir with a confused expression. "Are you alright?" she said, with a breathy, puzzled laugh. In reality his hand probably just slipped, but she should probably check that his limbs weren't being controlled by small maggots inside his brain.

She was about to turn back to her food when she noticed an owl flying down towards her direction. She wasn't the only one to be approached by an owl. There were quite a few that flew down around the great hall. Even so, as the majestic creature flew down and perched beside her, she wondered if it was confused. She didn't recognize it as one of her family's owls. However, the bird seemed confident in it's location, dropping an envelope and then swooping off again. Anice sat blinking in confusion. She looked down at the formal looking envelope and took it in her fingers. It was sealed with the official Hogwarts seal. Suddenly her heart sunk into her stomach. As a prefect, this could be either very good, or very bad news. And remembering the events of last night, it was very likely that it was bad news.

Oh gods, they know. They know I was at the party...They know all the 76 regulations that were broken and I did nothing about! I'm done for! Say goodbye to being Head girl, Ani...

Holding her breath, she slowly and nervously began to open the intimidating envelope. As the seal broke her eyes fluttered. Her hand must have been shaking as she tortured herself and pulled out the contents of the envelope carefully. Her fingers twitched as she unrolled the parchment and her eyes began to read every scrawled out word...

She quickly realized that although this was about the party, it was not about herself specifically. She felt the weight of worry lighten a bit on herself. However, she wasn't free yet. Reading on, it seemed that the jinx that Sabrina had somehow managed to inflict to keep the party a secret had back fired. Not on the half-veela though, oh no. It just happened to backfire on all the prefects. The headmistress seemed to believe that this jinx was the work of a prankster, and not an attempt to keep a dire secret hidden from authority. Now she wanted all the prefects of the school to join together and bring the blonde that was literally sitting right next to her, to justice.

Now she was torn. Would she turn the half-veela in to save her prefect name? Or would she work to cover the incident and her roommate? She pondered to herself, looking over the letter again and again. If she told the Headmistress that Sabrina was behind it, that wouldn't be the only detail that would come to light. All the prefects that were there, including herself, would be found out as well. That would mean that an attempt to save her prefect name would be the reason she loses her position altogether.

If anyone in an attempt to save their prefect name came clean, she'd lose her prefect position altogether.

Suddenly she felt her heart sink to her stomach again. Her position was all she had. It was the most important thing to her and now it was very possible she could lose it. She clutched the parchment in her hand and got up from the table. She needed to do something. Say something. Make sure that this didn't happen. That the "prankster" was covered so none of the prefects would be sold out. She didn't exactly know where to start though. Standing up made her realize she needed a place to go. The only person that she could think of was a fellow prefect that she had seen at the party.

Lucas Grey. Of course! Her fellow soldier in arms. Her trusted companion! She looked towards the Ravenclaw table and spotted him rather easily. If she were going to conjure up a plan to hide Gallagher, then she would need a Wonton to her Lockholmes. Something like that. She had a hard time keeping up with muggle literature.

She walked as casually as possible towards the Ravenclaw prefect, and quickly stole a seat beside him, and clutched his arm. "Did you read the letter that was sent out? Do you understand what kind of trouble we're in if the 'prankster' is found out?" she said in a low voice, motioning air quotes around prankster. She looked around and then looked back to him. "We have to make sure no one speaks up or we could lose our positions. We have to rally the prefects!" She began...

[glow=white]|Great Hall|[/glow]

Luke slowly sipped the tea he'd brewed in his cup, savoring its taste as well as he could while he listened idly to students chatting about this and that. The hall was getting fuller every passing moment, which in turn made it louder and louder. He sighed loudly, couldn't they keep quiet? Or at the very least whisper? He let out another sigh, though it was more of a groan this time, as he put his finished cup of tea back down on the table. He was hungry, but did not feel like eating anything solid since his stomach felt like an utter mess this morning. "Ah well..." He pondered "At least it can't get an- No no, let's not jinx this. The last I need is more trouble." He nodded to himself, deciding not to think more on that subject. The trouble he had right now was large enough as it was, being bound by contract to someone he once thought of as innocent... a contract he saw no way of getting out of. Hiding was an option, right? While that would buy him a bit of time, he'd eventually get hungry and end up here. And running from a little girl would sort of hurt his pride, but it'd hurt more to be ordered around by her. "Aaargh! This is annoying!" He said in a raised voice to himself, earning some odd looks from people around him but they quickly went back to their business. He looked around, feeling a bit embarrassed. He told himself it was unavoidable, all this stress is slowly getting to him afterall. Yes, yes, that is certainly the case.

Lucas didn't get too much time with trying to come up with some sort of plan for his small problem as a bunch of owls flew into the Great Hall. He figured it was some early letters from parents to their kids, but this theory was quickly broken as one of the owls, white with black speckles, landed beside him with a letter. Upon grabbing said letter, Luke couldn't help but notice the official Hogwarts seal on it. Gulping nervously, he brought it closer to himself and slowly unsealed it. He had a bad feeling about this... a very bad feeling. He read through the letter a few times, seemed like a nasty prankster was on the loose... as if he was one to talk. He wouldn't be surprised if he'd be one of the suspects, Luke did have the prankster reputation after all. But it seemed odd that someone would be so stupid to throw slug curses at so many people, not to mention tasteless, it made him wonder if something else was in play. Could it have something to do with the party? He wouldn't be surprised if Sabrina had some of sort of back-up plan if someone decided to sell them out. Hence the mass slug-vomiting hexes appearing everywhere. But if that was the case they were on the verge of being found out, which would mean he'd lose his position as a Prefect... or worse. Damn it, Luke, why did you have to jinx it like that? His hand trembled slightly, he had to solve this somehow... but how? His head hurt, but he had to figure out a way out of this. But much to his dismay, the more he pondered the more he came to the conclusion he couldn't do this on his own. The only way he could think of is making himself the said "prankster", everyone would believe it afterall... but that would mean the end of his Prefect career, a future he wasn't very fond of. He'd probably be the one to make them fall if nothing else... so he had to stay out of this, or at the very least away from being questioned by the professors. But who could he trust with helping him?

As if it was an answer for someone up there in the heavens, he felt someone grabbing his arm. At first feeling irritated, he turned his head towards the person, but upon noticing this person being his fellow Prefect Anice his face lit up and getting flustered. He moved away from her a bit "A-A-Anice?! D-don't scare me like that!" He shouted out, feeling odd with her suddenly sitting down and grabbing his arm, but he calmed down when he noticed a bit of worry on her expression. "Did you read the letter that was sent out? Do you understand what kind of trouble we're in if the 'prankster' is found out?" She spoke in a hushed tone, Luke simply nodded to both her questions. "We have to make sure no one speaks up or we could lose our positions. We have to rally the prefects!" He understood the position they were in, but he wasn't very keen on the idea of gathering all the Prefects. "I think I'll agree with that... but we don't know if all of the Prefects were at the party, so let's be careful around them nonetheless." He answered back in a hushed tone. He sighed a bit, pondering a few seconds. It was no small task to make everyone hush about what happened last night, hell, they don't even know half of the people who were there. "I wish to say that we should probably figure out a way to save our own hide first, but that's probably an impossible feat as there were a lot of people who possibly saw us." He quietly told her. "Nonetheless we'll need a battle plan, between us two, I can't really trust anyone else right now."

[Quidditch Pitch]
Etienne opened his eyes to the realization that he'd nodded off soon after laying down on the bleacher while trying to hide from Melinda as he had watched her begin to run a lap. He wondered how long he'd been out and carefully lifted his gaze over the wooden frame to find that not only was Melinda still there, but also a certain duo he didn't feel comfortable approaching either... At least Captain Van Redeen was there but that wasn't enough of an incentive to get the half-giant out of his hiding place. The lollipop he'd had in his mouth was still there so clearly he hadn't been sleeping for long. Careful to not make any noise, Etienne slid off the bleacher and down to the ground weary that his body size might not let this work.

It did. He could have kissed Carrot on the spot if the orange eastern newt wasn't crawling all the way over on his outstretched leg. As he heard bits and pieces of the conversation, Etienne looked behind him and then in front of him. Damn. He'd taken a seat almost between exits which meant he would have a lot of crawling to do if he wanted to get out of this potentially very awkward situation. All thoughts of the previous night and his jittering remnants of violent emotions were gone. All he felt at the moment was guilt. He mentally apologized to the captain for not being brave like her and just stepping out. Instead of standing there like an idiot during the party he could have helped the very drunk Melinda and stopped her from doing something she would regret, like kissing him.

And then there was Zed.

Etienne felt an emptiness in the pit of his stomach that had nothing to do with hunger; He had fed well enough. It made it all the worst that Alastair was present too.

Suddenly he didn't mind if he had to slowly and quietly crawl all the way out of the pitch. His eyes watered lightly and his jaw clenched holding back all the anger he felt at his own cowardice. How did people face daily interaction and social strain was beyond him. It was barely the beginning of the day but his morning thus far seemed like a whole day's worth of one bad thing after another.

He crawled, quite successfully, but it was then that he heard: "We're engaged."

He breathed in with surprise and the combination of melted sugar and saliva rushed back with it. He needed to cough but managed to hold it in. His body was desperate for breath and his throat grew increasingly irritated. He lasted about as far as Melinda's: "Okay, let's fix this."
He coughed almost inaudibly, his body lacking the air for a stronger and effective cough. He didn't hear the rest, but soon Etienne found himself half choking for breath and a fit of coughs overtook him. It was over. No way anybody would not hear him. Defeated, Etienne stood up and bent over with the last of his coughs. At length he croaked a simple, "Morning."

[glow=green] Hogwarts :: Great Hall [/glow]

"...Well, you still stink, though." Jayden muttered. Sabrina just gave him the stalest face she could muster as she continued to take a bite out of her toast. Rolling her eyes at him to add in the effect that she didn't give a shit about his opinion, even though it was clearly false. There was a moment of silence and Sabrina just sat there, eating her breakfast in peace, glancing around the Great Hall, noting the people who were probably at her party last night. "So you won't mind what people might say about you wearing that?" Jayden suddenly spoke up, snapping her out of her thoughts. Turning her light blue eyes towards him, she shrugged. "I mean... You know?" Taking another sip of her tea she nodded. She knew what he meant, but honestly it was whatever right? "People are gonna talk regardless, I really don't care. Thought you didn't either." She muttered. "Other than the stupid perfume I don't mind but... Don't take it as a habit. I'm not sharing my wardrobe with you permanently because I have little clothes as it is. And what do I do when I run out of mine before the elves have time to wash them? Use yours?"

Sabrina just had to laugh at that, since picturing him in her clothes was hilarious. "Well, I'd have to admit, that would be a funny sight." She laughed again, wiping the tears from the corner of her eyes, "Though I wouldn't want you to stretch out my clothes, they cost more than your life y'know." She said with a teasing wink. "Well, at least that would give them something to talk about, I suppose..." he added and she nodded in agreement. If it was one thing she could count on it was the fact that the human populous loved gossip. It was the people who craved gossip that kept the Weasel running after all.

Speaking of the Weasel, she had put the film from last night in her trunk in her room. She needed to get her equipment out and develop the photo and send it off to the news editors. Sabrina loved her job in the club, taking pictures was the easiest thing in the world. But she had to admit, she had outdone herself this time. The picture she had taken last night at the part was golden. The opportunity was too sweet to pass up. The process for developing pictures the old fashion way wasn't hard. She was used to it by now anyway, it would only take a few minutes of her time. So after breakfast she decided she would head back to her dorm to develop the picture.

The crash of a teacup against the table jolted Sabrina out of her fantasy land. She quickly grabbed a napkin and began cleaning up the spilled contents of the cup. What a waste of perfectly good tea. Sabrina's stare was hard on Jayden as he rested his head against the table. What the heck? He was gonna be lazy and pretend he hadn't dropped his cup of tea right then? Just let her clean up the mess right? Ugh, it was just like him. "Are you alright?" Anice asked softly to Jayden beside her. Sabrina shook her head and tossed the now wet napkin aside. "Maybe his heavenly potion didn't work too well and he's still hungover," Sabrina said sarcastically. She was about to continue when he finally raised his head. He looked rough, she wondered if he was okay? Maybe he was just bored from sitting with them or something. Well if that was the case she should be offended, she was great company to have around. Pouring him another cup of tea she smirked at him, "Sorry to bore you to sleep, princess. More tea?" It was pointless to ask since she had already fixed it for him, but she pushed the cup towards him instead.

That's when she noticed movement from the corner of her eye. An owl swooped down, dropping a letter off in Anice's hands. She rose and eyebrow at her, wondering what it was about. She had to admit she was curious. But of course, she didn't want to seem too obvious so she turned her attention back to her food, popping a piece of bacon in her mouth and casually stealing glances at Anice. It wasn't until she noted the shift in her facial expression that she became really curious. She noted it had an official Hogwarts seal on it so that must mean it was some pretty serious business. Ever so slightly she leaned a bit closer to Anice, trying to peek over to see what the letter said. Just when she did though Anice jumped up from her seat, making Sabrina lean back quickly, her eyes wide in panic like she had just been caught snooping. Instead of being scolded by her roommate, Anice left the table and headed over towards the Ravenclaw table.

Blinking a few times, still thoroughly confused about the whole thing, she took another sip of her tea. If there was a seal on it then it had to be something serious, but she wondered what it could be about. "What do you think that was about?" She asked Jayden.

[glow=green] Great Hall » Middle Courtyard [/glow]

"Are you alright?" Anice asked with a breathy quizzical laugh, and Jay peered at her direction with a confused, a bit owlish look on his face as he kept blinking to clear up his vision. 'Yeah Everdragomir, are you?' Jay wondered briefly as he rubbed the palm of his hand against his forehead and eyes, feeling a pressuring quiet buzz behind his eyes that made his brain feel like mush. Something was going on. Something was off. Something was... weird.

"Maybe his heavenly potion didn't work too well and he's still hungover." Sabrina said somewhat sarcastically as she tossed the wet napkin away that she had been using to quickly wipe the table with, and it landed on the surface with a wet splat. Jay kept blinking with a frown, willing the rest of the spots dancing on his vision to fade away. In the meanwhile the half-veela reached to pour his cup full again. "Sorry to bore you to sleep, princess. More tea?"

He scoffed, but reluctantly accepted the cup. His vision was now clear again, but now the boy was aware that something was up. This was not normal. And Sabrina had to be wrong, the hangover antidote had worked perfectly as per usual; she and Anice looked completely fine and they had drank the same patch and dosage as he had. The half-breed remained quiet as he pulled the tea mug closer to himself -- but this time dragging it along the table's surface and not lifting it, just in case. He thought about the weird seizures and his condition as he added honey into his tea and some milk, bewildered about hows and whys. Why was this happening? How was it happening?

An owl swooped by, delivering a letter to Runeswell. Jay himself paid little heed to it, because it was none of his business and did not directly have nothing do with him, hence it did not interest him. However, it definitely interested Sabrina who seemed to be very eager about pushing her nose in her roommate's business across the table from him, trying to snoop on the content of the letter as the brown haired girl read it. Jay frowned at the blonde in disapproval, but did nothing to actually stop her and returned to nursing his tea instead. But only in the matter of seconds after that Runeswell bolted up, making Sabrina withdraw quickly and Jay lift his gaze quizzically towards the Prefect. Her expression was severe and little bit panicky, and the two half-breeds stared at her in silence and waited her to explain herself. But it never happened. She stood there for few seconds, then snapped her attention towards the Ravenclaw table, apparently found the person she was looking for and scrambled from the table. Jay and Sabrina followed her movements as she circled around the end of the Slytherin table and then walked between it and the Ravenclaw table, away from them without saying anything.

Sabrina sipped her tea, and then asked, sounding a tad bit bemused. "What do you think that was about?"

Jay shrugged, his gaze still on Runeswell as she stopped by a blue haired individual that could not go unrecognized. He watched keenly as she slipped on a seat next to him and engaged into a conversation with him, startling Grey and making the Ravenclaw into a flustered mess. Jay squinted his eyes, not entirely sure how to feel about Runeswell being so casual with his mortal enemy, and how mushy that said mortal enemy turned to within close proximity of his self-proclaimed daughter. Maybe he should purchase a shotgun. He had not really been jealous before over the people he considered as 'his people' when they interacted with the people that were not part of his circle, so this was a first. And Jay was fairly sure he did not like it.

"I don't know, seems like Prefect business to me. I mean why else would she talk to that sleazeball?" Jay muttered, sounding more bitter about it than he had meant to. Catching himself on it Jay cleared his throat and turned around on his seat to face Sabrina, adding; "But that is none of my business." And he sipped his tea, murmuring the last few words into the context of his cup like Kermit the Frog. It seemed like his daddy instincts from last night were still on. That or he really disliked Grey today more than usual. Either way, he did not approve the company Runeswell was keeping. Grey was a waste of space in this universe.

He finished his mug in one gulp and settled it down, pushing it away next to the plate of almost completely untouched food, and rose up from his seat. "I'm gonna go catch up some fresh air, I think I need it. I'll see you around later, yeah?" Jay told Sabrina as he stepped over the long bench and threw a glance towards Kiyoko's general direction. He hoped she would catch his eye and leave the hall together with him, but of course, that was just wishful thinking. She was seated pretty far away, and even if he was tall, the chances of her spotting him still were slim if she was not paying attention to her surroundings. And she had seemed to be quite interested of her breakfast earlier, and deliberately avoiding Sabrina and who knows, maybe even him. He really needed to talk with her, but that was probably best to do somewhere more private. So he gave her one long look, then threw a nasty glare at Grey and Runeswell, before turning on his heels and pushing his hands into his pockets and heading out of the Great Hall.

Jay kept a casual, lazy walking pace. He was not in a hurry to anywhere in particular after all. He passed a group of loud students in the Entrance Hall, where a lanky looking short guy with brown hair was being all mushy with a redheaded girl and few others. He recognized the Turkish Ravenclaw as the guy he had once had a short conversation with that had not exactly ended well, but all the rest were just a blur of faces without names to him. He ducked his head and passed them in silence, and took the first turn to a corridor that would lead him eventually to Middle Courtyard. He was feeling hot and stuffy anyway, so maybe he could cool himself in there. Which was odd, because earlier he had been cold as hell. If he was a female, he would have suspected he was having an early menopause or something, however that worked. Either way, he was feeling random waves of heat and his mood was overall irritable. As he walked the corridors, passing armors and other medieval decorations, Jay grabbed the collar of his black sweater and wrung it around his neck in order to cool himself, flapping the fabric against his chest to move the hot air away from his body.

When Jay arrived to the courtyard, a blast of cool air greeted him once he opened the door to outside. It was a welcome feeling, and for once in his life time, the dhampir boy welcomed the cold. He leaned onto one of the arched windows of the cloister, facing the vast yard. The great oak had lost most of its leaves now, and only few were clinging onto its naked dark branches anymore. Jay sighed, his breath turning into a puff of steam. It was cold, but it felt good. He could hang out probably few minutes before heading back indoors and then figuring out what to do from there on.

"Girl, you keep lettin' people sit on me, an' imma come up there, and beard whack you into nex---"
Ashanti let her full lips curve into an amused smile as she shoved a well used napkin into the far back of what could be considered the loud head's throat. A small chuckle shook her petite body as she continued to observe her surrounding peers. Some, lets same one fourth of the student body, seemed to be just as chipper as always. The other three fourths were either absent, face down to the table, or green in the face from the activities of the party just the night before. There were looks of worry, fear, and regret on just about every person's face she gazed at. It only amused her more. The girl wrapped her fingers around the neck of the goblet in front of her, black coffee swirling in it's confines as she lifted it to her lips, and partook of the bitter beverage, a satisfied sigh slipping from her lips as she moved to set the cup back down. From her side sounded the desperate sputtering of Aditi trying to spew the napkin from his lips, but that would be hard when you didnt have breath or a tongue to help. So, Ashanti reached to her side, and plucked the fabric out for him once he'd fallen silent, and given up trying. "Ah good, you seem to have settled down." she murmured as she watched more, and more people file into The Great Hall.

More faces laced with Regret, and sickness. More amusement to watch.

"Hmmph, you lucky I ain't got hands..." was all she heard from her side, but she ignored the shrunken head much like she did on the daily, her eyes finally falling from the sight before her. She mused at the events of the party; from the sights of everyone's costumes, to the glorious 'act' that The Weasel and The Dragon put on, and the evident downward spiral of nearly everyone's sobriety just 20-30 minutes of being there, and partaking in the Pumpkin juice so conveniently place at nearly every corner of the room. She'd gone as an authentic Voodoo Queen, long intricate dress with the upper part of a goat's skull fastened into her curly, chocolate hair. Beaded necklaces, and leather belts. Aditi at her waste for good measure. It was fun, but she honestly only went for a few friends in her house. They'd wandered off the moment they all arrived though, and she'd sat in a chair and observed much of what happened, just as she was now, a smirk on her lips and a glimmer in her eyes. "Aditi, I see this as the perfect opportunity to set up business. I see flocks of hungover students arriving for the antidote to there stupidity" she sighed,"If only I had the ingredients..." The head bobbed around on his string sputtering things she ignored. She had a few things she needed in her own personal garden flourishing in her dorm room, but a certain Hufflepuff was sure to have the rest of what she would need. Unfortunately, it seemed Seriphim was having a rough morning as she'd gotten up, and dashed from The Great Hall just a few moments before. Ashanti would have to catch the Ginger Badger later.

She continued to sit, and think to herself, idly running her finger around the rim of her goblet, Aditi continuing to ramble on at her side.

♥ Ravenclaw Tower - Hospital Wing - Just Outside Gryffindor Tower ♥

Maia had barely made it into her dorms, with her headache steadily returning, when she was greeted with a rather unusual sight. One of her roommates had gone down to the Great Hall for breakfast already, but the other was on her hands and knees, barfing slugs onto the floor. Slugs. What? For a moment, the little Ravenclaw was stunned into forgetting her headache altogether. Another slug came popping out of the other's girl mouth and Maia shook her head, regaining her wits. With a little sigh, she leaned over to pat her on the back. "Are you okay?" She asked, but her roommate was in no position to respond. The other girl wasn't exactly her friend. She was a bit of a whiner, actually, and Maia was not overfond of her, but she couldn't just leave her. It looked like she was going to have to take a hike back over to the Hospital Wing. Giving a little sigh, followed by a little, "what do I do with you?" laugh, Maia helped her roommate Lissa get to her feet, hobbling the two of them over to the Hospital Wing. It was something of an impressive feat, if she did say so herself, considering Lissa was a willowy, athletic female far surpassing Maia in both height and weight, but they managed somehow.

Not really feeling like joining her fellow Ravenclaw in the Hospital Wing again after having just left, she stood outside for a bit, wondering what to do, and was just about to head back to her dorms, when she heard a loud burst of laughter. The sound made her wince, and she turned to look down the corridor from whence the sound came. She should leave. Get away from that hellish noise. Yes. She should definitely leave. Or so she told herself, but instead, her curiosity got the better of her, as it always did, and she moved hesitantly closer to the sound, feeling more and more irritated the closer she got to it. It felt like it lasted forever, but it did, eventually, stop. Rather unfortunately for her, it stopped before she could figure out who the irritating laugher was.

Not really sure where to go now that the laughter had stopped, Maia decided to continue walking, anyways. There was a stairway not far from here anyways. She was just about to reach that stairway, when she saw someone. It was another girl, with black hair. She was not terribly good at remembering people or names, but the girl looked vaguely familiar to her. Someone from her House, maybe? The girl was taking a swig from a bottle of goodness knew what, and it suddenly made Maia terribly thirsty again. What was with her today? Constantly thirsty, this neverending headache, the way the light and sounds made the whole world feel mildly like hell. "Hey." She said, sounding much more haggard than usual, though still managing a smile. "How are you?" She asked awkwardly. It was better than, 'hey, I don't remember your name, were you the one making that brain-splitting shrieking earlier?'

Great Hall>> Outside of the Great Hall
He'd felt a sinking feeling in his stomach from the moment the letter was dropped onto his plate. It was quite late in the morning, at least for him, who liked being awake before the first rays of sun could break through the lakewater, and into the Great Hall the moment food was set out. But he'd woken that day with the most unpleasant feeling of a headache, mixed with the even worse feeling of wanting to throw up. None of his roommates, who were decidedly more cheerful about being able to get up at their own time for once, were affected by this affliction of his. Hardly fair.

He was dying. Not literally, and the pain was not actually that bad for him, one that he could probably ignore well enough if he tried. But for a poor, innocent young man who didn't know what he was getting into when he first picked up a goblet of sweet pumpkin juice, this was cruel and unnecessary punishment. It was awful, and Ryan had grand plans for the day of going to his room after breakfast and lying there doing absolutely nothing. Ryan eyed the Hogwarts seal on the envelope. Was opening it worth ruining his day plans? Probably not, but he also probably had to.

Ryan plucked the letter from his plate, taking a sausage in his other hand to offer to the owl. "If this isn't a love letter from a professor that I can use to my advantage until I graduate, I'm taking back my food," he told the bird, to which it hooted and flew away. Smart thing.

Ryan broke the wax seal on the envelope, pulling out the parchment within. He skimmed over the words, picking out what seemed to be the more important details. A serial hexer? Couldn't they have at least waited for tomorrow? And to cast the slug-vomiting charm, of all things. Very classy. It looked like Ryan's day plans were a bust.

Somehow, the possibility of someone suddenly throwing up slugs all over the table had quelled his hunger. Ryan folded the letter and tucked it away in his pocket before he stood. He supposed that it he should probably get to work with the little assignment he'd been given, but working with the other prefects? It seemed like a great deal of extra effort. Even finding all of them seemed like it would be rather troublesome. No matter. First things first, Ryan was going to find some clothes that were too far gone for slugs to do much serious damage.

Leaving the Great Hall, Ryan was only walking for a short while when he heard a particular noise. Singing, to be exact, and after a brief moment, Ryan was sure that he'd heard that he'd heard that voice before. He looked in the direction of the singing, and there she was, looking quite happy today, especially compared to the many regretful faces Ryan had already encountered.

"Hey, Stella," he called out to the girl, lifting his hand in some semblance of a greeting as he walked over. It was always nice to see a friendly face in the morning. He adopted his best salesman voice then, which was admittedly about the same as his regular voice, if a tad lower in pitch. "Having a good day, are you? What if I told you that your day could be even better with the possibility of seeing me vomit slugs?" Slugs were naturally the first thing he could think to say. If there was one thing that disgusted him, it would be the idea of slimy creatures falling out of your mouth. One person thinking the same thing as him seemed like a nice thing.

The staircase seemed to be taking it's sweet old moving into place. Normally that wasn't a big deal, however when you have a rabid pack of bloodthirsty psychopaths called teenage girls chasing you, lets just say Alice was getting impatient. As the situation was, Alice really wasn't acting how she normally would, which explains why she also did not notice the footsteps coming up from behind her.

"Hey" an exhausted voice said from behind her. Alice, who had made the mistake of drinking some of her pumpkin juice at the time, was not expecting this new arrival and started to choke on her once delicious drink. Again, if she was on her "A" game, as he dad liked to say, she could have prevented a lot of things from happening to her, but oh well.

Being surprised while drinking pumpkin juice is not something Alice would recommend to anyone, unless of course they want to cough their lungs out that is. Now knowing that the person who decided to sneak up on her probably wasn't trying to kill her, Alice turned around to look at her would be murderer. The higher pitch of the voice should have told her that the speaker was a girl, but in her mini-death Alice honestly didn't know what to think other than, Dear lord I'm dying. So when she turned around the last person she expected to see was Maia Alvey who was not strangely enough, not smiling, well not like she usually does. Like most people, Alice didn't know anything about the girl other than what she had observed for the past 6 years, which was the fact she could always be found with a smile on her face.

Alice actually found her warm and cheerful attitude something to strive towards over the years, not that she would actually say that to her housemate's face. The fact she can always find a reason to smile everyday and goes out of her way to be friendly to everyone is amazing in Alice's mind. Which is why seeing her without her usually bright smile was shocking to say the least. Alice could tell just attempting that smile was difficult and obviously pained the girl. Odds are she went to the party yesterday and was hungover like everyone else in their year.

Just as she was contemplating this a thought went through her mind that made Alice almost jump off the landing to her painful death. If Maia Alvey was just behind her, then odds were she caught her having an almost mental breakdown. She must think that I am insane. Mustering a fake smile Alice waved awkwardly towards her fellow Ravenclaw in greeting since her throat still hurt from earlier. It didn't take a genius to know that her smile was as fake as fake could get and Alvey probably thought she needed her head checked out.

"How are you?" her housemate asked awkwardly. The ways she could answer that question was astounding. She could tell her the truth, that she was being chased around the castle by her pissed off roommates and probably smelt like curry, as is the terrible curse of being half-Indian. Or she could go with the generic answer of how she was good and life was amazing. So she decided to go with a mixture of them both.

"I've had better days, but I'm alright." Once again the fake smile was on her face, but Alice could tell that it wasn't as fake as her previous one was. To think, all in the course of a day she has spoken to more people today than all of last week. At that depressing thought Alice cleared her throat and asked the girl."How about you? How's your morning been so far?" Maybe she could salvage the girl's opinion of her before being labeled as unstable, like Jules.

♣ Outside Entrance Hall ♣
Stella was still singing and hadn't yet made it to the Great Hall. For a moment, she was distracted as her childhood friend came striding purposeful from the Entrance Hall. What was up with him? She turned to look, still singing without really thinking about it, but then a familiar voice called out. "Hey, Stella!" She turned back around to beam at Rye. Another Slytherin, and in some ways quite different from Avery, but in others, rather similar, like how nothing ever seemed to really faze him. He held his hand up briefly in something of an incomplete wave as he moved closer. Using a slightly odd voice for some reason, he cheesily said, "Having a good day, are you? What if I told you that your day could be even better with the possibility of seeing me vomit slugs?" He spoke as if that prospect was as fascinating as it got.

The blonde girl gave a snort of truncated laughter. "What are you talking about?" She asked, still sparkling slightly. "Why would you be vomiting slugs, Rye?" The boy said and did some strange things sometimes, but she'd never imagined he'd do something like that. Then again, it had been three years since she'd had her first real conversation with him, and she still couldn't fully say she completely trusted him. She leaned towards him and joked merrily, "Do you have your camera with you? Maybe I could snap a commemorative photo for you." She wasn't actually expecting him to take her up on that, but the morning was so beautiful and she was already feeling so light and breezy that everything naturally sounded like a joke.

Maia gave a little start at the girl's sudden choking fit. It looks like she'd surprised her. Oops. Her tired smile brightened a little with sheepish laughter, but the stiff, practically grimace of a smile she received back had her eyes widening in surprise. She knew she made a number of people uncomfortable, but how much did this girl hate her to make that awful, yet comical expression? She wasn't sure if she wanted to back up or laugh, but at least she wasn't the only one feeling awkward. "I've had better days, but I'm alright." Her freakish smile remained, and funnily enough, Maia didn't find that statement very convincing. She'd either ruined the girl's day for her, or she wasn't having a very great one to begin with, if the look on her face was any indication. Come to think of it, if that laugh earlier had been her...? What did that mean? Maia blinked rapidly, no words coming to mind. "Er..." she started stupidly, but to her relief, the girl spoke again. "How about you? How's your morning been so far?"

Well. That was a rather complicated question. Actually, no, it wasn't. Her morning had been awful, but she was sure this girl didn't want to hear about it. "Erhm..." She laughed uncomfortably. Most days, not much could get her down, and even a girl like this who obviously disliked her wouldn't have bothered her one bit, but in so little time her morning had gone from bad to worse. That's what it felt like, anyways. Could it really get any worse? With a deep breath, she closed her eyes and slapped both her hands against her cheeks. It could be worse. It could always be worse. She couldn't forget that. She could still be stuck in Rosewitch, with Mary-Jane there to torture her. A bad day here couldn't compare to that. Here, she was warm and had three good meals a day. She had an education, a chance to be someone better than the circumstances she'd been born into, and a great many luxuries she was not used to, growing up. She just had to remember to keep it all in perspective. Besides. The day was still young. There was still a chance it would get better!

So the next time she opened her eyes, she smiled, and although she was still tired, it was a genuine smile. "I'm the same." She replied. "Today hasn't been the best, but I'll be alright. I just have a weird headache, and my roommate started spitting slugs." She laughed and shook her head, although she instantly regretted the action as it send that shard of pain lancing through her brain again. "It's been a rather strange morning." She said, as the staircase the two of them had been waiting for finally rumbled into place. A rather strange morning indeed, headaches, and slugs, and Scriven, and now this girl whose name she couldn't even remember.

(Outside the Gryffindor Common Room)

Alice watched as her housemate contemplated how to answer the question. Obviously she hasn't had the greatest of mornings, that or she went to the party last night and was like the rest of the student population and dead on her feet. Either way, she was obviously uncomfortable and smart enough to know she, Alice, was the laughing maniac. As if this morning couldn't get any worse Maia Alvey gave a nervous laugh or giggle as she tried to think of something to say. Alice knew that if it was anybody else there, Alvey probably would have been more comfortable around them, but here she was stuck with a freak like her. She knew she was being harsh on herself, but Alice couldn't seem to shake the thought. She obviously was making the nicest person in her house uncomfortable, and that was a feat all to itself.

Then out of no where, the girl closed her eyes, took a deep breath and slapped herself on the face. Now Alice may not be the best when it came to interacting with people, but she knew enough that that couldn't be normal. Who slaps themselves? Now it probably wasn't all that hard of a slap, and maybe calmed down the girl, but it freaked her out a little. But then Maia Alvey looked up at Alice and smiled, a real Maia Alvey smile. So Alice hid her astonishment and slight shock and gave a small sigh, then a slight smile. Unlike her previous ones, this one wasn't the fake one, it was the smile she gave when her brother embarrass himself to make her laugh. It was more natural.

"I'm the same." the girl replied. "Today hasn't been the best, but I'll be alright. I just have a weird headache, and my roommate started spitting slugs." Alice knew that it wasn't exactly polite but she let out a tiny giggle at the thought of someone throwing up slugs. The first time she had seen someone do that was about 3 years ago when her brother stole her wand. Now he didn't know what he was doing, and her wand instantly disliked him and backfired on him causing him to up chuck slugs. Her parents weren't amused, but Alice couldn't stop laughing since he was at the time trying to curse her with her own wand. Needless to say, Mathew left her things alone after that.

It seemed Alvey also found the situation hilarious, so Alice let a few more of her giggles escape. "I feel awful for laughing, but the situation is funny isn't it?" Alice said with humor evident in her voice. The girl however was shaking her head in laughter, but soon looked like she regretted that. So she had gone to the party last night, and she was hungover. "It's been a rather strange morning." she said slightly pained.

"I can agree with that, my roommates are chasing me around the castle because I may or may not have accidentally set loose an army of crickets on them." Just then the staircase finally decided to move to the landing regardless of the fact Alice had been standing there for almost 5 minutes. Stepping towards the staircase she paused and glanced back towards Maia Alvey. "You went to the Halloween party last night right?" Alice gave a small smile and hoped that she didn't look too weird for trying to continue on the conversation.

[BCOLOR=transparent]--[/BCOLOR]

She chewed a piece of omelette rhythmically.

As she nibbled away at her meal, Kiyoko remained aware of everyone in her general vicinity. She watched as all around, pointless people did pointless things. Stupid people did stupid things. Lesser people did lesser things, and so on. The asian leaned over her plate, one elbow on the table, her hand rested against her cheek. Her expression read indifferent, but honestly that couldn't be farther from the truth, beneath the surface her emotions and thoughts were festering. For the first time since the start of term banquet, despite being surrounding by people, she felt utterly alone. Jayden was at a distance, and her friends... wait, what friends? These days who did she have but Jayden? Who cared about her aside from him?

Kiyoko sipped at her tea.

Down the table, a head of short blonde hair bobbed around, but Kiyoko wasn't too concerned with her, Sabrina rarely did anything note worthy. An owl came through, dropped a letter in front of Gallagher's dearest friend, Anice Runeswell (a rather sad thought). The brunette jumped to her feet and rushed over to the Ravenclaw boy with blue hair, whatever his name was. Her expression reminded her of last night. Flustered, drunk and ditzy had suited both her and the blonde for some odd reason and Kiyoko would cherish that memory. Her eyes narrowed on her bacon, she stabbed it with her fork and bit into it. As she chewed she couldn't help but think of how enemies and annoyances were sprouting all around her, think of how she would deal with them like the weeds they were, should it come to that.

She bit into a perfectly flaky croissant.

Then, he got up. Her eyes widened ever so slightly. Out of the corner of her eye she watched Jayden saunter away, his shoulders slightly slumped as they always were when he shoved his hands into his pockets. She continued to eat steadily, debating whether or not to follow him. His cold gaze landed on her, and she paused, hesitating. If she was being honest, she wanted to talk with him. More than anything she wanted to hear his voice... but at the same time she feared what he would say. She'd thought on it, and it still made her sick to think about. He'd been disappointed in her, she heard it in her voice, and gods that had hurt more than she'd could have thought possible.

She couldn't bring herself to eat.

She saw him step outside the doors of the Great Hall and vanish around the corner. For a moment, she considered just forgetting she'd seen him, ignoring the fact that she was painfully aware of him. Then, she rose to her feet, graceful and calm. She wiped her lips with a napkin, stepped over the bench confining her there and moved toward the door.
"Jayden?" She said quietly as she peered around the door. She saw his figure moving down the hall, and she stifled her call out to him. Instead, she simply followed behind as best she could. In her pursuit she barely noticed that she air was growing steadily colder. She'd nearly lost him when he finally stopped in the stone doorway of the courtyard. She stepped around the bend, and paused just down the hall. She licked her lips out of mild nervousness and pressed them together before calling out, "Jay...?" She cleared her throat and murmured sheepishly, "Hi"

[glow=green] Middle Courtyard [/glow]

He had barely gotten to relax himself when a very familiar voice spoke his name; "Jay...?" Tensing his form immediately during the moment of surprise, Jay straightened his back and whipped around to face Kiyoko, who was standing several feet away, clearing her throat somewhat in somewhat nervous manner before murmuring a sheepish "Hi" to him.

"...Hi." Jay returned the greeting, a short beat of silence later. His stance was reserved, almost careful, and emitting that silent insecurity that showed its face every now and then. He had not realized she had actually seen him, or that his wishful thinking about her following after him would have come true. He remembered mulling over things during the drunken vapour of dawn and even after waking up. He had thought about her and Sabrina and him and all the things he should say to her and wanted to say to her. But now that she was here, the half-breed boy found none of those carefully thought out words. All he could think about was that she was standing far away and there was space between them that felt vast like it could stretch out to horizons. And he would have been lying if he would have claimed it did not scare him.

Jay started to scratch his arm awkwardly, but remembered just in time that it was his hurt arm and if he did that he would regret it really fast. So instead he let his arm flop back to his side, until it restlessly started to winkle with the hem of his black sweater. It was normal to find Jay as the more quiet kind of guy who only spoke when he defined a need to verbalize his thoughts out loud. But he did not always understand that his silence could be really unnerving to others when he clammed up, like he was doing right now. But as the saying goes, the most quiet ones have the loudest minds. And in this case, it was quite true. The Slytherin's thoughts were racing with the speed of light, going through an emotional clusterfuck, all in a colorful jumbled mess that made the perfect sense and not at all. It was hard to sort out his feelings over the complicated situation when he did not understand where he stood with everything. Sorting out relationships had never really been his forte. During times like these he did not know what to say to make it right. He was not good with words and he was terrible at reading people. He was brash and often times very insensitive with his word choices. After all, it was not like he considered himself a social retard just for nothing. He had just the right specs to be officially justified for holding that title. And especially today, it was a bad day to try to make sense to anything when he felt a little lightheaded and his body felt heavy and like it was trying to impulsively combust even while he was standing outside and it was cool enough that his breathing came out in little puffs of steam.

So he stood there, squirming, eyes wandering in the surroundings and avoiding Kiyoko. Well, until he seemed to have enough of it. It was a fight or flee, and Jayden Everdragomir would never flee like a coward. So the tall boy rolled his shoulders back and turned his sharp eyes to finally look at her, the piercing blue orbs unsure but the set of his jaw stubborn. He was not going to be a spineless and lost teenager. He was going to do right by her. Even if it already felt like he was treading over thin ice that was cracking and popping under his feet over bottomless dark depths.

"So... Uh. Good morning?" He started tentatively, but somehow it ended up sounding more like a question. And probably it was, even if Jay was not entirely sure himself what exactly he was asking. A little humorless smile pulled the corners of his mouth when a hollow chuckle escaped him, and he answered his own question. "Who am I kidding... It's been a terrible morning. At least for me. I feel like shit. I hope you're doing better, at least."

Between hangover, having to deal with Sabrina and Runeswell, tearing his own skin off in his bathroom, having weird seizures and trying to figure out his social life, then yeah, "terrible" came pretty close describing it. Though Jay was fairly sure he was still giving his day way too much credit. He let out a sigh that turned to mist that floated away into the crisp morning air, and took few steps closer, approaching her carefully like he would have been approaching a wild animal, trying his best to come off as nonthreatening to not scare her away. Jay knew one thing for sure; if this thing was giving him emotional turmoil, he was fairly sure hers was worse. He wanted to make sure she was alright. That they were alright. No matter what went down between Kiyoko and Sabrina.

"Were you avoiding me?" As per usual, he did not beat around the bush and went straight to the point. His voice was quiet as he pushed his hands into the pockets of his trousers. "Or just... her? You didn't come by my room, and you weren't sitting in your usual spot." Next to me. Your place is next to me. Not half way across the table. This unsettles me. "And it was like you didn't even see me. But I saw you. I always see you." My eyes are always looking for you in the crowd, and I always find you. You are very important to me. "So I was wondering if... you know? Are you mad at me?" I am worried, please talk to me so I can understand.

A shift of weight from leg to leg. A rub of hand against the neck. Gaze shifting away and back in order to try his best to keep a steady eye contact but not quite managing. He still needed some training with dealing with people, but he was trying. He was really trying. And all Jay could hope was that she would by now understand him well enough to be able to read him and not misunderstand him. He was not trying to accuse Kiyoko, despite how it probably came off as such a bit.

[BCOLOR=transparent]--[/BCOLOR]

Jayden's response was delayed. He kept shifting both his body and eyes away from her, and because of that her stomach twisted and she pressed her lips together. She was just waiting, but soon the silence became stifling. As she stood there, arms wrapped around herself to shield her from the cold that her thin sweater failed to fend off, she considered a dozen different ways to start this conversation. Yet she remained still and silent, frozen there. She watched him, expectant, patient and then his eyes darted up to meet hers. The sudden intensity of his gaze caught her by surprise, and she blinked in surprise.
"So... Uh. Good morning?" She smiled weakly at the questioning tone, he did the same and a cool chuckle escaped, "Who am I kidding... It's been a terrible morning. At least for me. I feel like shit. I hope you're doing better, at least."
She nodded, "I am." Sort of.

"Were you avoiding me?" Her eyes narrowed in confusion and she raised an eyebrow instinctively, as if she couldn't quite understand just what he meant. "Or just... her? You didn't come by my room, and you weren't sitting in your usual spot. And it was like you didn't even see me. But I saw you. I always see you." Her brow furrowed together, giving her an almost hurt expression as she came to realize what he thought. She opened her mouth ever so slightly to speak, but her words died in her throat.
"So I was wondering if... you know? Are you mad at me?", He fidgeted and turned his eyes away. Her mouth twitched opened and closed as she tried to gather thoughts, and finally she just took in a breath, "You... You thought I was avoiding you? You? No, no Jayden. Dammit no. Not you, I would never avoid you."

As she spoke she took a few brief steps toward him, but paused a couple feet away. "I didn't mean to make you feel ignored. I just... Last night I didn't sleep very well and because of that, I had a lot of time to think." She took in a quiet breath through teeth that were beginning to chatter. "I believe I've come to realize that Sab-- er, Gallagher and I... we weren't ever friends. Not really. I tolerated her, and I did so for you." She sniffled slightly from the cold and turned her eyes away, "You know, I understand that us not getting along must be challenging and weird and all that crap, you must be so out of your comfort zone right now but the reason I didn't sit with you is because I didn't want this fight to put some kind of weird gap between you and her. I didn't want that on me" She paused again, letting that sink in before continuing on in a noticeably quietly voice, "I care about you very much, and the last thing I want is to make you unhappy. I don't want to cause a distance between the friends you hold dear. After all, I've come to realize friends are something we all seem to be sorely lacking." She said with just the faintest teasing tone.

Kiyoko looked like she was out of words, her mouth opening and closing, but nothing came out. Jay was unsure how to interpret that; was she simply taken back by his inquiry or had he actually hit closer to home with it than he had thought? His hands found themselves hooking thumbs into his belt loops in order to try and stifle their restless movement. When the girl finally took a breath to speak, he braced himself mentally for whatever she was going to say.

"You... You thought I was avoiding you? You? No, no Jayden. Dammit no. Not you, I would never avoid you." Kiyoko said, sounding flabbergasted over the fact that he had been ludicrous enough to even consider it. Jay could not help it how his shoulders slumped when his body relaxed along with a relieved sigh. She was not mad with him, thank Merlin. It was like a boulder off his heart. Kiyoko continued speaking and closed the distance between them a little bit, but still keeping it quite formal. "I didn't mean to make you feel ignored. I just... Last night I didn't sleep very well and because of that, I had a lot of time to think." She took a breath which came out as a puff of steam. His left hand abandoned the belt loop and lifted to rub the back of his neck as he hummed in agreement to her words. It seemed like he was not the only who had too many sleepless nights and too much time alone with his thoughts. "I believe I've come to realize that Sab-- er, Gallagher and I... we weren't ever friends. Not really. I tolerated her, and I did so for you." She sniffled at the cold and turned to avoid his eyes. He froze, staring at her in surprised silence. She did it for him? She had tolerated Sabrina for his sake? If she did not get along with her in the first place, why did she bother to do that? He did not ask her to do something like that for him... Had it seemed like he had expected her to? Jay thought back on it, trying to pinpoint a moment where he thought such misunderstanding would have happened. He was not good at tolerating people, and if Kiyoko would bring in someone he could not stand and ask him to do it anyway, Jay would not probably be able to go through that with honor. Seriously, last time something like that happened was when Sabrina dated Daniel Park, and Jay punched him in the face. He was not good at playing friendly and did not understand why anyone bothered to try. So if he was not going to be able to do it, it would have been unfair of him to expect her to do it, too. "You know, I understand that us not getting along must be challenging and weird and all that crap, you must be so out of your comfort zone right now but the reason I didn't sit with you is because I didn't want this fight to put some kind of weird gap between you and her. I didn't want that on me." Oh. "I care about you very much, and the last thing I want is to make you unhappy. I don't want to cause a distance between the friends you hold dear. After all, I've come to realize friends are something we all seem to be sorely lacking."

"It's not my fault I was born with a scary face," Jay commented dryly, "it doesn't exactly make it easy to pick up friends."

He took a deep breath, mulling over all the things she had said in his head, trying to figure everything out as he spoke. "Yeah... Yeah, it's a bit complicated. And I don't really get it too well, but... I'll try. I mean I get it from your point of view, but just because I'm friends with her doesn't mean it's okay that you stay away either." Was it greedy that he wanted to be near her but maintain his friendship with the half-veela? Or was it so that he would have to get to a point later where he would have to make a choice? There was a pressuring feeling on his chest, and he did not like it. "I don't know what am I supposed to do," he admitted, sounding defeated, "do you guys just automatically avoid each other by default from here on out? "The fastest one gets to hang out with Jay, you snooze, you lose?" What is that even supposed to be? Do I tell the other to scram off if the other is already there with me? "Oh sorry, I can't hang out with you because I'm with her now." That's something that preschool kids say!" Jay spread his hands, frustration seeping through his voice in waves. He was angry, but he was not entirely sure at who. "Do I need to start keeping a schedule now? Fridays for you, Saturdays for Sabrina?" His short peak of anger dissipated, just leaving him tired. Jay ran his hand through his hair, and fisted some of the dark locks, pulling them tight on his scalp by the roots. "You said you didn't want to bring that fight between me and her, because you didn't want it on you, because you didn't want me unhappy. But did you think that, I dunno, maybe, it's already there. By trying not to bring it. You're projecting assumed feelings onto me and acting based on those, but you don't know what I'm actually feeling. So don't do that on your own volition. You. Don't. Know. So don't jump into conclusions." He let out a sigh, his voice dropping into a more careful tone. "But you'll know if you ask, because I will tell you if you do. I don't want to wreck my friendship with her, but I don't also want to lose you either because you think I would choose her over you. Because I wouldn't and I want you to know that. Sabrina is important friend to me, because she's like me. A half-breed. She understands me and I get her, because it isn't easy to be like us. But if you even for a second think I wouldn't give that up for you, you're wrong. Because I probably would, and that alone is scary. I just hope that you won't ask for it, because I also want you to know that I don't want you to. What you don't seem to understand is how much you mean to me, and how much power you have. You don't understand how frustrating that is to me. What do you need me to say or do so that you get it?"

It was cold, but he was burning up. He could feel the coolness of the air, but he was hot. So unbearably hot he wondered if he should go skinny dipping into the Black Lake. Jay let go of his hair and dragged his hand across his face, which also unsurprisingly felt hot. It seemed like his cheeks were flush with color. Maybe the combination of frustration and the verbalization of his feelings was doing that, even if he did not actually feel embarrassed for once saying it. He was meaning every word with such utter, sincere seriousness that he did not even consider being shy about it. He wanted her to know, because if she did not, she would keep assuming things by herself. Kiyoko had the tendency to do that, and he did not want her to lift him up on her expense. He wanted to do that to her, because she deserved it. Maybe talking things through openly would help out them both.

"I'm not good at relationships. Friendships or with dating, and I'm honestly sorry about that," he said, now looking straight at her, "but I'm sturdy and stubborn. I can take whatever life throws at me, and get back up again just so I can flip it off. I can take this crap, I'm a big boy, Kiyoko. So let's ignore my feelings for now, and let's focus on you. How are you feeling? How do you think you'd want me to go about this? I'm not stupid enough to think that you guys are gonna fix this, because yesterday was really bad. But I'm not here to judge, because I fuck up all the time. I just want to know that we two are okay. Are we?"

Her joke was ill received, she could tell such from his dry and humourless tone. For a moment it was quiet enough that she could almost hear the little cogs whirring in his head and then he began,"Yeah... Yeah, it's a bit complicated. And I don't really get it too well, but... I'll try. I mean I get it from your point of view, but just because I'm friends with her doesn't mean it's okay that you stay away either." Her stomach twisted, I don't know either, don't you understand that? We didn't plan this out ahead. I didn't think this through.
A little voice in her head whispered. "Oh sorry, I can't hang out with you because I'm with her now." That's something that preschool kids say!" Jay spread his hands. Kiyoko bit her lip and held her tongue. She had a thousand responses, and yet silence was all he was given. Her inner voice whispered biting retorts, If we're being fair here, nothing of what we did could be called 'mature'.

"Do I need to start keeping a schedule now? Fridays for you, Saturdays for Sabrina?" Her eyes titled away from him to observe the stone floor, Of course not. I would get Saturdays.
Her inner voice responded yet again. Yet, her lips remained unmoved and her silence was rewarded. The anger and frustration that had tinged his voice fizzed away. You. Don't. Know. So don't jump into conclusions."
"I was trying to avoid unnecessary conflict" She said in a quiet voice, her expression and eyes falling. She understood what he meant, and so she let her weak argument go.

"But you'll know if you ask, because I will tell you if you do. I don't want to wreck my friendship with her, but I don't also want to lose you either because you think I would choose her over you. Because I wouldn't and I want you to know that." Her eyes widened and she looked up at him in surprise. She watching him, blank and in awe. "Sabrina is important friend to me, because she's like me. A half-breed. She understands me and I get her, because it isn't easy to be like us." She lingered on those last few words, and for some reason they irked her. Even before now she'd tried to understand the woes of being a half breed and how terrible things were for them. But the more she thought on it, the more she believed that half-breeds were just playing victim. No one's life was easy. Nothing is so simple. Everyone was set apart in categories and variants that made them a minority in some way... As far as half-breeds went, for every person who discriminated against their kind there was a dozen who accepted them just as they were. They just got to catch glimpses of the negative side more often than not, and that was all they chose to see.

"But if you even for a second think I wouldn't give that up for you, you're wrong." And just like that her debate vanished, to be brought up again by her subconscious if her mind would be allowed to wander long enough, "Because I probably would, and that alone is scary. I just hope that you won't ask for it, because I also want you to know that I don't want you to. What you don't seem to understand is how much you mean to me, and how much power you have. She just stared, stared at him as if she couldn't understand him, stared as if nothing he was saying made sense. Then she just nodded slowly and gave him a strained but earnest smile, "Yes. everything is fine. We're fine."

She leaned toward him and let out a sigh,"Now please, Mr. Everdragomir, hold me. I'm cold"
She was tired, and cold, and stressed by everything that had happened in the last 36 hours, and honestly, all she wanted right then was her boyfriend's arms around her to lull the harsh realities away. Sweet and simple.

Kiyoko just stared at him in silence, looking a bit stupefied. He could not really blame her, this was possibly the first time in his life that Jay had spoken so much in one go. It had felt like taking a lid off from a jar and then knocking it down; all that was in his mind pouring out in one messy jumble. So once had finally managed to shut his own gob and take a deep breath, Jay was feeling a bit surprised himself too. He had not even realized how much there had been to say until he had said all of them. Maybe he really was still drunk after all.

Then a strained but earnest smile finally broke over Kiyoko's face, and it was like watching the sun come from behind a cloud cover. "Yes. everything is fine. We're fine."

And that was all he wanted and needed to hear. As long as they were fine... Nothing else mattered. Well, a lot of things still mattered, but this was his number one in the list of priorities. So as long as the number one still checked, he had a little less to worry about when it came down to the other things. Another relieved sigh escaped his lungs, turning to steam in the air. And a small smile answered back to hers, mirroring it. "Good. That's... good."

Then she leaned forward like she was ready to collapse with a sigh, saying dramatically. "Now please, Mr. Everdragomir, hold me. I'm cold."

Jay caught her almost casually, pressing her delicate body against his chest and rolled his eyes -- but unable to hide his amusement. "Yes, my damsel in distress. It would be my pleasure," he started sarcastically before snaking his arms lazily around her small frame, and squeezing her closer to him and admitting, "No, seriously, it would be."

Her cheek felt cool, which felt nice against his hot one, and Jay hoped he could have snuggled closer to her to leech on that coolness. It was like there was fire under his skin, heating him up from the inside out. He liked hugging Kiyoko. She was not too tiny or too tall. Her height was just appropriate for this kind of thing, and it was like their bodies were molded together. Her head went just snugly under his chin if he stood his back straight, and she felt soft and her hair always smelled good. He would grade this eleven out of ten kind of experience, which was saying a lot from a guy who did not really care for physical contact.

"You feel so nice and cold." Jay moaned and let his forehead drop against her shoulder, and his hands searched for hers and without warning pushing them under his sweater flat against his skin. This was followed with a pleased hum. It was usually him in her position because Jay got cold easily. But now he had definitely more than enough warmth to share, for once. So he might just as well go all out.

He pulled himself away just a little bit so he could lift his head and look at her in the eyes, pressing his forehead against her, still remaining as close as he possibly could. "You know, if you're cold, we could just go inside," he proposed the option for her, before a small wicked glint in his eyes made it seem a little less gentlemanly, as he added with a teasing tone, "I know several different ways to warm you up."

Great Hall

The moment she had gripped his arm the boy seemed flustered, but Anice was in too much of a frenzy to notice, trying to figure out a solution in her head. She hadn't meant to sound as panicked as she did, but she was horrible at hiding her feelings. This also made her a bad liar, which meant that this particular "prankster" situation was going to be difficult. Thankfully, Lucas seemed to have been pondering the letter as well and the two prefects were quickly plotting a course of action to take.

"I think I'll agree with that... but we don't know if all of the Prefects were at the party, so let's be careful around them nonetheless." Anice nodded. She envied the smart prefects who hadn't gone to the party. They were worthy of their positions and worthy to carry the honor of Hogwarts. She had tainted her reputation, that was gone. She couldn't blame anyone else but herself, and she would carry her mistakes to her grave. But now her position was all she had to fight for. It was her new goal to simply get through the year without her secret being known, and to become Head Girl in her 7th year.

"I wish to say that we should probably figure out a way to save our own hide first, but that's probably an impossible feat as there were a lot of people who possibly saw us." Luckily for Lucas, his costume made it difficult for people to recognize him. Without his blue hair, he was hard to spot. Though Anice had been close to him long enough to recognize his sharp features, many other people were probably still questioning who the mysterious skeleton was. Now, in Anice's case, things were different. Not only did she stick out because of the short dress she was forced into, but anyone who saw her could recognize the prefect nazi from miles away.

Even still, he was right. It would be difficult to save themselves when people had seen them. In fact, she knew a lot of people would probably be more than happy to throw her under the bus. The prefect that had probably taken points or reported their name to the head of their house once upon a time. Suddenly she felt an overwhelming sense of nervousness and paranoia.

"Nonetheless we'll need a battle plan, between us two, I can't really trust anyone else right now." Anice looked up at her classmate. The same was true for her, there was no one else she could trust. He was probably the only person she had been close too long enough to even consider a friend. She knew that he would be there for her, he had said something like that at the party right? It was all a blur...but she could of swore it happened. Anyway she needed to think about what to do with this situation. She tapped her chin. She knew Sabrina was the alleged "prankster" but it seemed that no one else knew that. She knew that this "prank" was an effort to hide the party, but the Headmistress didn't know that, and since both the prankster and the reasoning behind the pranks were still a mystery. Then there would be no need to bring up the party at all. If they cut out the fact that this prank had anything to do with the party, then it was just some dumb student who they needed to find.

And that made things a lot easier! But that left the prefects to find a student that had pulled the pranks. She suddenly realized how dangerous this was for Lucas. After all, he was known for being a prankster and she still questioned how he had become a prefect in the first place. Many would probably look to him. She couldn't sell Sabrina out, or chaos would break loose. The truth about the party and everything that they were trying to hide. No. Either the blame had to be placed on someone else, or the prankster would have to get away. And the second option was sounding like the most viable, since it would be difficult to find a scapegoat.

She pondered. She didn't know how much she could tell her blue haired companion. Knowing all this information about the truth behind the pranks and all. But she had already made him link the pranks to the party...and if they were going to be in cahoots then he couldn't be left in the dark.

She took a deep breath and turned to Lucas and spoke very quietly. "Okay. I'm gonna tell you some really important stuff behind the pranks but you have to promise you won't tell anyone. We're the only ones who'll know this and after I've told you, it is extremely important that neither of us tell a soul." She looked around, they were rather secluded on their end of the table. She looked back to the Ravenclaw prefect, "These pranks aren't pranks. It's how the party is getting covered up. Whenever someone talks about the party in front of authority, they begin to spew slugs. This 'prankster' is.." she looked around once more and then spoke even quieter, "Sabrina Gallagher..But no one can know that or else everything about the party will come out and we could lose our positions.." She relaxed and let her voice reach it's previous semi-hushed volume. "We have to make sure that no one else knows it's about the party. This is just a regular everyday prankster that needs to be brought to justice." She said with a small quirky smille, taking a delectable looking donut from the platter on the table and taking a bite. "We also have to make sure no one finds out who the true prankster is... What we should do, is bring all the prefects together, and explain the situation the way it is. There's a prankster on the loose and we need to find them. Then when everyone comes up empty handed, we just leave it at that. No harm done." She said simply with another bite of her donut.

@Misaou > Sabrina Gallagher (mentioned)
@Faust > Lucas Grey
and maybe others? I don't know lol
