Jace slid to the floor and leaned his head back on the cupboard behind him, sighing heavily and trying not to cry. He needed to be strong, because, in the back of his mind, he knew he wasn't responsible for any of this.
But he still felt horrible.
"I know it's not my fault," he said to Embry, looking up at her. "But ... I spent all that time trying to make her happy. I must have done something. I wasn't good enough for her or something, I don't know."
Jace bit his lip ring and rubbed Embry's calf. "I love you. And I'm lucky to have you. I'm sorry this has gotten to me."
But he still felt horrible.
