Today was Friday - a near-universal good day, as college classes ended for the weekend, other schools did too, and many jobs were on hold for the weekend. But for a particular group of friends, and many more besides, it was a much more important day than a simple Friday. Because a heavily anticipated game was coming out: Agents Temporalis. A full-dive, group-instanced VRMMORPG that was hailed with branching stories, depending on quests taken and outcomes achieved. It was groundbreaking in many ways, and was appealing to all kinds of players.
The beta had ended a few weeks ago, and Travis - the unofficial but undisputed leader of a small group of friends - was still super Hyped about it. He'd helped his friends get the game, and even the divegear if need be. All so that they could hang out in the world together, test out the beta, and get the sweet Chrono Trigger title for their characters. And now, the day had finally come. It was launching in a mere few hours, and Travis was going to make sure that his team had an awesome weekend binging on it.
~~~
Travis sighed and leaned back in their booth inside their favorite pizza joint. Three hours to launch, and he could barely wait. If his friends didn't show up soon, he might not be able to wait! As such he pulled out his cellphone and texted into their group chat: "Hey, where are you guys? C'mon, it's party time!" he smiled and then closed off his phone. It would only be a matter of time until his boyfriend and the rest of their team joined him, he was sure.
As he waited, he reflected on the beta. They had two ranged and two frontliners - plenty of DPS. That would worry him, if he didn't know that as a Tank, he could pull the harder things to focus on him. And even then, his beta character had been able to get some healing skills - a paladin-type, if you would. no doubt that he could get even better at it, since they would no longer be level-locked to level ten. Sure they had to start over, but that was part of the fun! Every system would be unlocked, so they could start and enjoy the game to the fullest!
He just had to wait for his friends to show up, so they could party and get ready to game.
