The fight was definitely going in their favour. Despite the damage that others had taken, with Xenon especially reaching dangerous levels of HP, they had defeated one of the Orclings before it even managed to attack once, a miraculous situation that most likely saved the life of their bladed assassin. The attacks from the Mimic as well, weren't as troublesome as he had expected. The first blow cut deep, cleaving into his left shoulder, but as the Mimic drew out the sword for another unorthodox strike, Tian-Gui struck the side of the sword, sending it flying out of the air. Was he becoming used to the pain? Or was this level 24 box weaker than he thought?

No. A chest's specialty wasn't sword combat, after all.

It was in containing things.

In an instant, even as Shouko's arrow struck the dark interior, the chest leapt upwards. A dozen tendrils reached out and dragged Alex's Flame Elemental into its abyssal interior, before it all clacked shut. It shuddered. It smouldered. It cracked.

It digested.

And when its mouth burst open once more in a shower of sparks, levelling up from the consumption of the Flame Elemental, Tian-Gui let out a deep, rumbling breath. It was going to play that game? Then so was he.

"PHYSICALITY RISE!"

Life energy flowed from his soul into his veins, as beads of golden light emerged in the air around him. His body was strengthening once more, attaining a physical bonus much higher than what a level up or two would give him.

Tian-Gui clapped his hands together, the Salamander Gloves sparking upon impact.

"Come."

Kiryu would hold his mana rod out towards the chest and squinted at it. "Alright ugly, you may have eaten an elemental and gotten stronger and I mean that was cool and all, but you know hot food like that tends to not really agree with people. I mean between you and me you're gonna have some problems later."

Kiryu chuckles and looks over to Shouko real quick
" I've can shoot arrows too now... well hopefully I can anyway. Alright let's see if my mana arrow can do anything to you and that tough hide." Kiryu fires his mana arrow at the Mimic.

In his mind, everything was going better than expected. No one hit an ally, one of the orclings got slaughtered before it could act. Things are gre- did it just eat my elemental? Alex blinked twice as he looked at the now charged up box. "Did not see that coming." Oops.

Scratching flame magic off the board for the time being as the mimic would likely take reduced damage or heal from it, Alex decided that lightning may be the go to for the remainder of the fight, as long as the mimic didn't turn and eat that too. Just die without causing further trouble you creepy box.

"Lightning, gather and strike. Spark Bolt!" Alex chanted while aiming for the Mimic.

The self-taught archer did not have to wait for long. Right after attacking with its swords, the Mimic's mouth opened wide. In a moment of startling clarity, Shouko let loose her arrow. It flew true, sinking into the darkness of its interior. A loud wooden thunk resounded from the impact, but it did not even flinch. Her only consolation was that she dealt a decent 45 damage.

"There goes my fine idea. Sorry, Alex."

Waiting around for the next time the Mimic opened its mouth would waste too much time. It had also gained strength from eating Alex's familiar, making the circumstances that much more dire. It was clearly something they needed to put down quickly. The rest had the same thought and began to direct their attacks at the box.

Shouko considered her options. She was still inexperienced with casting Stone Shard, thus its effectiveness would be minimal. Mana Burst would be the only choice here. Rather than the Mimic which was resistant to her arrows, perhaps the Orcling would have to do.

Shouko channelled mana into her next projectile, selecting a barbed arrow dipped in the Minor Blade Poison for maximum damage. Combined with the Shift Arrow skill, she hoped it would eliminate the Orcling so that the rest could focus on the Mimic.

As Artisia watched the battle play out, she could see that they weren't at as large of a disadvantage as she had thought. They were up against enemies that would probably have been considered extremely dangerous, but they were handling the situation strangely well in her opinion. Of course, Xenon had taken a lot of damage and the chest had decided to eat the elemental that Alexander had summoned, but they were doing well.

Although Artisia had gotten a burning sensation in her stomach as rage grew up from the core of her being. Xenon had been hit by that punching bastard. Artisia knew that she'd be able to hit the Orcling with everything she had in her brand, so... That's what she decided to do.

Artisia moved as quickly as she could toward the Orcling. She sent her palm out toward the Orcling saying the words, "Point Burst!" She could feel her brand be drained of all of the MP she had put into it with this strike. She just hoped it wouldn't be for nothing. And if it was, she hoped that she wouldn't get pummeled by the Orcling.

Colt was rather pleased at how well they were controlling this battle. Becoming ecstatic as Xenon and himself completely wrecked the orcling they assaulted though that quickly faded as they were pelted by magical missiles from the cabinet it had exited; of course the attack being far more harmful to the team's favorite assassin. He shook his head to shake off the blow and quickly made his way to the cabinet. "I've got the cabinet Xenon, your talents are needed elsewhere." He said rather calmly.

Before reaching the cabinet he'd flip his bastard sword around now holding it by the blade with the guard and pommel being farthest from him. The gauntlets protected his hands and are what really are letting him be able to carry out this technique that he'd remember reading about that knights would use when wanting to use bludgeoning damage to pierce armor or in Colt's current case a cabinet. He swung for the cabinet with a baseball like swing attempting to smash into it with the guard and pommel of the sword.

As Colt attacked the orcling from the front, Xenon followed up in a two-pronged approach from behind. He whipped his arm out to make the first score on the unsuspecting orc. Then, with the momentum of the strike, he swung his off hand blade down with more heft than his main hand. But, as the red haired teen found, he wasn't done quite yet.

Come on, let's dance.

Xenon re-calibrated his balance, then lunged forward once more on the orcling, brandishing his deer antler blades for two more slashes right across the creature's neck and taking it down.

But before the the small victory could sink in, the closest cabinet door opened the red haired teen found himself on the end of two blue blasts. Shit. Xenon didn't need to check his health bar, he felt the HP melt off with each bludgeoning hit.

"I've got the cabinet, Xenon, your talents are needed elsewhere," Colt said calmly. Xenon gritted his teeth and nodded, "Right." He moved away quickly and downed a health potion. Then, he focused and called out, "Channel of Oscillation!"

First came Kiryu's Mana Arrow, fired right at the mimic. The Mana would travel from his being through the Mana Rod, being strengthened once within and then fired forth, the powerful Arrow making contact with the Flaming Mimic. Some more of the wood on the chest seems to crack as a blue 52 appears over the creature.

Next came Alex's Spark Bolt in a series of attacks being fired at the beast. Unfortunately the power of lightning, while quite strong, is rather hard to control. It wasn't as though the creature dodged the powerful blast, but rather the attack just missed as Alexander wasn't able to properly aim the magical assault due to the sheer raw power of Lightning Magic. If this was just how Lightning Magic was, imagine how hard to control actual Electricity could be.

Still, damage had been dealt to the Mimic so far. While in the meantime, both Artisia and Shouko directed their attacks on the Orcling. Artisia went in for a Point Burst, unleashing all 37 MP she had stored within her brand. As she in-canted the Skill, the Mana making her hand glow with power moved to her palm, becoming a concentration of power gathered all in the palm of her hand. Rather than dodge out of the way, or try to parry, the Orc merely braced itself, accepting the full impact of the blow. It lessened the blow by a margin thanks to its bracing, but ultimately took its full impact.

As such, a blue 32 and a red 27 appear over the Orc's head as the concentration of Mana and her palm both smash into the creature's chest as it tried to raise its fist to counter her the moment the strike connected. Unfortunately the Orc barely failed to hold its ground, getting pushed back slightly into the cabinet by the strike. While it managed to keep its guard, it didn't get to counterattack.

Still, the attack definitely worked, and did a decent chunk of damage. Perhaps though Artisia would do wise to invest in Gauntlets that had spikes on the palms as well, or to invest in stronger Palm Strike based abilities. Either that, or find a way to translate that attack to an actual punch. Regardless, a good chunk of damage was done in that one attack.

Then came Shouko's poisoned arrow. A firm, dead on hit by the slightly glowing arrow, right into the Orc's chest. A 40 appears upon the Orc getting stuck by the Arrow. It seemed to get a heavy grimace in its expression though as another 16 appears over its head. Its clear that the poison Shouko got it with affected the creature. Plus now it was stuck with the arrow, meaning its movements would be affected.

Its strategy to hit the Cabinet was looking worse, as Colten took matters into his own hands and attempted to strike the Cabinet with the pommel of his sword. The blow hit as he smashed the front of the cabinet with the pommel. However, his blow was reflected by some sort of invisible force. Fortunately a number did appear above the force, that number being 29. So if Colten wanted to smash the cabinet, most likely breaking this invisible shield was the best way to doing it.

He did unlock a new Skill, however.

ILL UPDATE THIS LATER.

The Orcling and Mimic, however; choose to continue retaliating. The Orcling decides to focus Artisia for now, throwing a barrage of punches at Artisia. Four to be exact. The first hit only does 14 Damage, while Artisia able to deflect enough of the second hit that it couldn't get through her Armor or Barrier. Unfortunately for it, the third and fourth hit are parried as well, putting the Orcling in a not very great position at the moment, considering the fact that its poisoned.

The Mimic, with two flaming tendrils, slashes at Tian-Gui with its flaming tendrils, the eldritch appendages moving with surprising strength and speed. Perhaps the creature wasn't really used to its new appendages yet? Regardless, one of them hit the other one, causing it to collide in a burst of sparks. The creature wasn't done though, as suddenly from the center of the chest another spear like tendril jets forth, attempting to stab Tian-Gui straight in the gut.

This Attack, unfortunately, was much more successful, and as it got through his armor Tian-Gui would feel a surge of flaming pain in his gut as a total of 58 Damage is dealt. Furthermore, the tongue like tendril did not seem to be moving, as the creature didn't seem like it was going to retract it either, the tendril beginning to very slowly expand within his gut to make it harder to pull back without causing immense pain, doing five more damage and sending more searing white hot pain. While this kept the chest definitely immobile, it also meant that Tian is in a lot of danger now as well.

Perhaps the Chest is aiming to absorb Tian-Gui as well?

Raising his hands up as the Mimic retaliated, two tendrils lashing out at an incredible speed, Tian-Gui almost wasn't sure what had actually happened when those tendrils collided with one another, a shower of sparks bursting out only to be blocked by his hands. A mistake? An opening? Physically empowered, the raven-haired youth stepped forward, ready to launch a counter attack.

Shnnk.

A single step in, he stopped. It felt all the wind was suddenly knocked out of him, and he coughed, violently, yet unable to spit out the blood. His insides were being roasted by the third tendril that pierced through armor and exited out his back, and yet…he couldn't even feel which organ had been damaged by it. The burning pain just continued to wrack through his stomach as it continuously expanded.

It incinerated his own health, and he could see that, for all the defenses he had built up, he was almost half way through his HP. He was getting close to dying, even when he was essentially as strong as he ever could be in this situation.

"Shut up."

A large hand grasped the top of the lid, Salamander leather negating the flames that licked the Mimic's surface, and slammed it down. Another shnnk sounded, the bladed edge slicing off the shadowy appendage, and Tian-Gui reached out with his free hand, tearing out the tendril that was embedded in it. Without a thought, he tossed it to the side, staring down his foe.

His body was screaming at him, and he had lost another chunk of HP due to that action, but so what?

"Is that," he hissed, "all you got?"

Because if this was its strength at level 25, it was pathetic.

After Colt had pommel attacked the cabinet he felt the magical force field protect the cabinet. He shakes his head in a small fit and flips his sword back around so he was wielding it two handed like normal. "Ok, fine, magic game world, great, have it your way." He says in an annoyed fashion before unleashed a full attack of two sword swings towards the cabinet hell bent on smashing the protective field and the cabinet along with it.

At this range, she would be pathetic to have missed the shot. The magic-enhanced, poisoned arrow struck deep into the Orcling, dealing a satisfactory amount of damage. Shouko estimated that it was near to death, based on the amount of damage the first one had took.

However, the Mimic attacked again, shaving another chunk off Tian-Gui's health. It was visibly taking damage from their attacks, but she wasn't sure if Tian-Gui would last the fight before they managed to subdue it.

"Tian-Gui, pull back! Someone else back him up!" Shouko shouted. The other frontline fighters were not at his side.

Still, she decided that killing the Orcling first would be prudent. Another blast from the cabinet would be devastating. Shouko fired another arrow, this time using just a regular variety.

Dangit! This lightning thing will take a while to get used to controlling it. Though If I am close, and it doesn't have to travel far, I shouldn't be able to miss. With sound logic, and just hearing Shouko's comment on Tian needing back up, Alex decided that it would be a good idea to move in closer and zap the mimic. Its lid was being closed by Tian and it had been disarmed earlier, so nothing could go wrong. Right?

"On it." Alex chimed, as he moved closer to the mimic, getting close enough that he was certain he would hit his target this time instead of the wall, Alex began to cast his spell. "Lightning gath-"

As he started the foil to his plan burst from the mimic. Suddenly a tendril bursts out of the lid, punching another big hole in it, and slashes right from his sternum to just above his waist.

80 Damage!

Unable to complete the spell, Alex let out a yelp from the sudden chock of pain, "The fuck!" He grabbed at his body from where he was slashed, no blood came out, but he was certain under normal circumstances, he would of died from that. Stay out of the front lines. New plan, support with shields and buffs from afar.

Kiryu sighs and shakes his head at the mimic shouting to Colt "Hey think you can take over for Tian real quick buddy, that way we don't have another person croak on us." He says and points his mana rod at the mimic again "Seeing as how you liked it so much before I'll give ya another dose of my mana arrow buckaroo."

He winks and focuses on the projectile, making sure it coalesced into the arrow projectile he has been working hard on making since he upgraded the skill, and fires it from his rod the soft blue glow a small comfort for him nowadays despite it meaning that he may just die here from whatever is around. You better hit from this distance you damned thing.

Shouko's arrow stabs right into the Orcling's side, dealing a nice thirty points of damage in addition to getting the arrow stuck deep inside of its body, which meant that unless it is removed its abilities would all be hampered and it would just take more damage. Overall a nice, solid hit that would definitely make the beast easier to take out for Artisia.

In the meantime, Colten chose to continue to attack a different form of box. The Cabinet that had blasted him and Xenon now too long ago. The first full on swing hit the barrier, having a much stronger impact than the pommel strike did. He did two 99 Damage hits, and on the second one the barrier shattered, the sword slamming into the cabinet, smashing its glass and leaving a large dent in the door as countdown timer on it vanishes.

Kiryu, in the meantime, launched an arrow of his own right at the Mimic. This being an arrow made of Mana, rather than an arrow made of wood with a barbed iron head. The mystical arrow of blue energy slams right into the Mimic's lid, blasting more wood off of it now as a 62 appears over its head. Static, both black and orange, starts to blip and blink out from the many holes in the box, before suddenly, and without any warning, the box explodes.

Tian-Gui braced for impact with sheer physical strength, managing to stay on his feet and only be pushed back about five yards or so, which can possibly be a good thing. He still took a nasty chunk of forty damage though from the blast.

Standing around twelve feet tall is a large, blackish, shadow like... squid? Its head is pointed similar to a squid, and it has a large, wide maw with many, many sharp teeth upon it. Furthermore at the bottom of its body are more tendrils that it most likely uses for movement. From the sides of its tall body extends four tendrils, two from each side, with a large, spear like tendril extending from its maw, something that looked like its still a threat.

While the Mimic is now out of its shell, flames blipping off of its body like TV static, that may or may not be a good thing. While its size would make it easier to hit, there's no telling what sort of tricks or abilities this creature can employ now.

Artisia watched as her hits connected with the Orcling, but it didn't seem to move at all. Was it protecting the cabinet? She wasn't sure. The thing that bothered her was the fact that the Orcling had the same fighting style, yet decided to take the blows anyway. It was enlightening in a way. She had always decided to dodge out of the way of attacks, but what if she had decided to block more attacks? She remembered that she had a talent that functioned off of blocking damage, but she left that thought for another moment since had to focus on attacking this Orcling for now. But, the thought lingered in her mind. What talent was it? What focused on blocking damage?

Hmm...

Oh yes! It was the Toughness talent!

She saw an arrow fly by and stick into the Orcling. Shouko seemed to be helping her out immensely. She looked back at her for just a moment and smirked. Artisia raised her fists toward the Orcling and decided to assault the Orcling with everything she had. Punch it as much as she possibly could.

She also heard an exploding sound, but she didn't let that stop her. For now, her focus was on the Orcling who seemed to be handling this fight better than she was.

With one main dish of skewered Tian Gui and a side of sliced Alex, Xenon was well and aware of what the mimic was capable of. The situation surrounding the mimic seemed to be getting stickier with each passing moment until the creature decided to flat out ditch the confines of its chest. I always did prefer octopus over squid, the teen thought humorously.

Preferences aside though, Xenon knew he needed to get into the fray and mitigate damage before the mimic could attack again.

The red haired teen focused on the stream of oscillated mana that channeled through the fibers of his being, the ghost of a buzz that danced under his skin. Then, he mentally jerked it forward as he called out, "Oscillation skin!" Xenon felt the oscillating mana flow out and fan out over his skin, covering it in a protective layer. Then, he ran towards the mimic, with the full intent of slashing away some of its undivided attention.

Indeed. It seems like the Orcling is trying to protect the cabinet behind it, which is why it didn't move out of the way and instead took Artisia's attacks. Unfortunately though now it seems like it would have to take more of them, the Orc trying to block Artisia's punches with its own skills in unarmed combat. Both punches hit the beast dead on, Artisia doing quite good to move with this heaviness debuff on her. The first did a nasty 39 Damage, the next doing five more than that.

Unfortunately the beast still stands. It is panting heavily though, so the Orcling seems probably a bit worse for wear.

Xenon, in the meantime, activates Oscillation Skin, before then running in to slash the beast with a dual slash from his blades. Both slashes hit dead on, cutting dead into the beast. Both attacks deal a total of 66 points of damage, not alot, but perhaps it did get the beast's attention as some of its tendrils flailed a bit at each slash.

The Orcling aims to get revenge, throwing a barrage of punches towards Artisia now as it aimed to exchange blows to end her life. The first two blows hit full on, but thanks to Artisia's armor and other protective gear, plus natural toughness, she only took a total of 31 points of damage. The third blow was a bit harder to block, but the fourth blow was a cakewalk. Overall, this Orcling definitely seems tough, but if its a one-on-one then Artisia should easily be able to handle it.

The mimic, with its three tendrils, slashes once at Alexander, Xenon, and Tian each. Thankfully the attacks were pretty inaccurate even on the close up Xenon and Alexander, simply missing them both. Tian, however; wasn't nearly as fast. The wild whip hits him, dealing another forty points of damage.

The creature suddenly clamps its teeth though, chomping off the spear like tongue tendril and it falls on the ground. Flames begin to surround it though, the tendril starting to glitch with static as it slowly starts to blink and take shape, that shape currently being that of a blob, its mass slowly starting to glitch with blackish static as well as the orange static of flame, the blob actually beginning to move on the ground though, slowly, in the direction of the side of the room Artisia is on.

This battle is still far from over.

"Well, I don't like this thing." Alex spoke as he stared at the monstrosity of a mimic's new form. Only watching as his ally tried to attack it, with close combat, only to fail. Is this what is going to do us in? Alex tried to judge his distance between himself and the creature before activating Advanced mana theory and slowly picking himself up. Trying to act like he should not be a priority while doing it all.

When she asked for another person to help Tian-Gui, Shouko was expecting one of the melee fighters. Instead, Alex stepped up to the Mimic. She thought nothing of it until he was attacked by the monster. The frail mage's health dropped to less than half in an instant.

"Oh my god! Not you, Alex!" she screamed.

At least her shot had hit its intended target. The Orcling should be near death now, she estimated, and Artisia should have no problems landing the death blow. Shouko turned her attention to the Mimic, just in time to watch it explode and reveal its true form. A squid.

"Well, I don't like this thing," Alex said.

"Oookay. I don't think anyone of us does," she said. As if it wasn't giving them enough trouble hiding in that box. For the first time since the fight started, she began to doubt their chances of surviving this encounter. Explosives? No, it's still too risky with everyone being in this small room.

"Ddi-Rym! I'll try summoning it. He'll most likely be more useful than me shooting arrows," Shouko announced her plan. A quick check at her statistics told her that she still did not have enough mana for the spell. Thus, she plucked two Mana Potions out from her Inventory and chugged them down. That should be enough for the summoning.

Finally the cabinet had been destroyed, better safe than sorry. But as he turned back to analyze the rest of his party quite a few were anything but; not to mention the mimic was now some tentacle abomination. Most of everyone over there looked decently hampered even Tian which set off alarm bells in the fighter's head. He had to get over there and fast, luckily he was good at that. Hardly without a thought he spun on his heels shouting "Berserker RUSH!" as he took off towards the creature in a dead sprint. Without thinking about it in much thought though aside from a few the crimson fighter leaps up onto a nearby infirmary bed with a loud screech before leaping off of it at the large creature; giving it a good deep slash. However he had no plan of stopping his forward momentum which caused him to smash into the creature and singe him a little bit. Thankfully he landed on his feet and with hopes he's gotten this things attention.
