"Come again? 'We'?" Margot looked between Mason and Lainey. She didn't miss a beat.
"Yes. We as in plural. It was a mutual decision." Mason said, making it so that it was precise.
He held her hand tightly but not so much as to her hurt her. He simply needed to hold on to something, to her because it would be less easygoing for everyone else in the room as well. He knew for a fact that not everyone would be happy with their decision, his sister, for example. However, if he was able to at least have her father's agreement and approval then they could work their way into getting the rest to side with them too.
Margot seemed to be at a lost for words and he was sure it was more from her being upset than surprised. "I'm sorry, but are you sure that's the best decision? Having a baby is a huge responsibility and I don't think neither of you are ready to be parents."
"I understand that you're worried. You don't have to be, we'll figure it out just like every first time parents."
"Mason. That is not your responsibility."
