Murder Game VII: The Ultimate Game

"My, my. We're all quite the puritans here, aren't we?" Shiki asked teasingly, shrugging his shoulders a bit, "Ooh, but why not, Sakuya-chan? Don't you ever want to get down with your bad self?" He inquired, quite amused with the predicament at hand here. As Sakuya would take out a knife, Shiki would draw his. It seemed clean already, if not a little dull from disuse. Then again, he had little need for it, since he carried around the sword left behind by her.

The one that Tohno had fallen in love with from the previous Murder Games.

But Nanaya was not Tohno, and he did not share the same attachments as he did. Thus, he felt more comfortable with his knife, Nanatsu-Yoru, than he did with Ackerman's sword.

"Hey hey, I've got one of my own knives too. Wanna compare 'em?" He asked, marching forward a little, and stopping briefly when Junko would talk to him.

"In a moment, doll. I've got another maid to court for myself."

Well, if nothing else, he was forward. A little too forward, but that was okay.

"Hmph, just why would I want to do that?" she asked him, not turning to look at him. Hearing him move forward and speak to her, she sighed. "Sure. Look all you like," she said, throwing one before stopping its time, freezing it in midair. "In fact, why don't we compare all of them?" she asked, activating Distortion World. There were now quite a number of knives in the tent.

"I'm uh... I'm just going to step out. The Doctor will be temporarily out until this situation can be cleared up. Knives haven't really been my strong suit since the Tranquility Lane simulation." Riley himself was beginning to feel a bit lightheaded, but he didn't know why. "As you can see, I'm not a fan of knives..." He grabbed the Nuka Cola, his lab coat, and the box of Medical supplies, and stepped out.

"You sure blame yourself a lot," Claire teased. "Not that I'm any better." There was far too many things to list, and Claire was well aware she probably didn't have to take blame for half of it. As she'd told Aqua before, the scar never really went away. "Whoever Vanitas is to you, we can trust someone else to deal with him. I promise. Until the next world, you and I should just relax, okay?" There was a carpet situated outside one of the tents, where Claire decided to take a seat. She pat the ground beside her, waiting for Aqua to join her.

Jeez, Claire was right even if she had just been teasing about it. Aqua realized she did blame herself a lot. She did it because she liked to feel responsible for her own actions and the effect they had on others, but perhaps she got a bit carried away at times. Claire admitted she did too, so that made her feel a little better. When Claire asked Aqua to join her, however, Aqua was rather hesitant about waiting and letting the others entirely take care of the fight.

"W-Well, maybe for a little while." Aqua took a seat next to Claire and folded her hands in her lap. "Tell me about something non-war related. When this is over, what do you plan to do next? What do you like to do when you're not fighting?" she asked, moving a bit of dust around on the ground with her foot.

Shiki whistled as suddenly, many knives seem to materialize out of nowhere. With his glasses absent, his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception were able to comprehend all the weapons, registering them as "alive" for all intents and purposes. As alive as an inanimate object could be anyway. Though all these targets would put a strain on poor Tohno, Nanaya was more... attuned to death, and thus, was not as affected by the side-effects of the Mystic Eyes.

Still, even so, Shiki could see a flash of static occur within his vision as the knives appeared. As though what he was comprehending were more than just normal knives, but... like concepts. Something more abstract to kill than a chair, like a poison or vampiric influence.

Or even the world.

Still, someone like Shiki Nanaya would not falter. He practically got off on this kind of thrill after all.

Beat. Beat. Beat. His heart was racing. From what? Possibly excitement. Fear was a concept that may as well have been one of the things he had killed. Just like pain.

"My, aren't they all shiny?" He asked, maintaining his usual cool smile for now, gripping his knife tightly, "Are we going to fight then? Did I come on too strong? Is that it?"

Mid-Chapter Update
"The Dark Apprentice Awakens"

After Alice found and destroyed one of the Vanitas pieces at the Twister Trench, the group discovered no missing children were in that area. So they quickly moved to leave and head back to the Fissure so they could gather more information.

Frank and the group at Dark Cave, however, found missing Riku and Kairi, helping to escort them back to the Fissure. When the groups brought the children back to the fourth tent, their families were grateful.

"Well, just as promised, I'll give this to you for your help. We really appreciate you finding our children," she said, offering them the necklace

Aqua stepped forward and took it, turning away from the woman before smashing it in her hand.

"Well, our task is complete," she said afterwards. "Now we should be able to find and destroy the divergent--"

"Looking for me now?" the voice of Vanitas would say, playing in the heads of the group. "If you're all ready to come and face me, I'll be exactly where I told you I would be at the beginning. Come find me at the Fissure. I'm looking forward to a challenge, especially from you, Aqua. I hope you've actually grown a nerve since we last met."

With a dark chuckle, the voice faded.

"I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to face him," Aqua declared, moving to leave the tent.

When the flap of the fourth tent was opened, outside of it--in the middle of the camp--the group would find a shocking sight before them.

Frank and Lisa could be seen dead on the ground. Frank appeared to have been stabbed while Lisa appeared to have an arrow stuck out of her body.

Aqua closed her eyes, a feeling of dread overcoming her. "It was the traitors again. We were all inside the tent and didn't even notice. This is... awful..." Aqua wanted to stay and check into who had killed them, but she wanted to go take care of Vanitas as well. She moved to stand in front of the entrance of the tent and quietly think to herself for a moment before contemplating whether or not to leave.

So, for now, it appeared as if the group could either stay at the fissure to continue looking around inside the tents, investigate the bodies, or go to the Fissure to face Vanitas.

"Hm enough of this fighting. Coco, capture the creature now," Joshua said after a moment, watching carefully.

Coco nodded. "On it, boss!"

The little one tossed the pin at the monster, the soul getting sucked inside as if magnetically being drawn inside.

Afterwards, Joshua stepped towards Max and Bayonetta, gesturing for Ridley to follow.

"So, this is what I believe happened," Joshua began, "What just attacked you was a dark soul of one of your departed friends, possessed by Akibahara. Meaning things are starting to get serious. I know all of you would like to return back and help with the war, but I'm afraid at this time I'm only going to let one of you return. The other two who stay with me--plus those who just died--are going to stay behind and help me hunt down some of these monsters."

Joshua smirked at Ridley before glancing at Max and Bayonetta.

"Before you, you'll see one of the traitors who was responsible for death in your group. I'll let her decide which one of you can come back to life. This ought to be interesting. Both of you had better come up with good reasons to convince her..."

Meanwhile, Frank and Lisa would appear in a blank, white room--alone for the moment...

Elliot was not impressed with the graveyard of keys, nor was he impressed with the people he managed to see as he walked by the tents, but none the less he kept going, until finally he reached the Fissure to face Vanitas.

For a moment, Abel simply enjoyed the chance to be close to Lapis again, taking her hand into his to give it a gentle squeeze. "Sorry I was gone, though now... At least I'm not a traitor anymore... Oh, and me and Naoya got to fight these knights while in the station!" He explained with a smile, trying to understate his old status. However, as they headed off to fight Vanitas, his smile vanished as he noticed the scar on her cheek.

Listening to Abel try to move on from his previous role (which wasn't really his choice due to the Arch Demon anyways), Lapis felt a bit of normalcy for once... It was a nice change of pace given that she's been through a ton while Abel was gone. However, a bit of worry arose when he finally pointed out her new scar.

"... oh, t-that... it's a long story..." Lapis had a feeling that she would have to tell about how it happened sooner or later. Obviously it had one detail that Abel wouldn't like to hear...

"... so, to keep it short, in one of the fights I got involved in while you and Naoya were gone... I got desperate to help... and this voice in my head offered me more power to my abilities... if I shattered one of my crystals. So... I did that... and for awhile, I was left with one crystal... then when it came to voting for a traitor last time... apparently I got three more crystals... possibly from whoever is the voice in my head... I guess the new scar I got is a side-effect from... shattering one of my crystals for that deal..." Lapis sounded as if she were berating herself passively. Of course a mysterious deal with a mysterious voice in her head was not something she should had taken up in the first place. Now that she thought about it... it's been awhile since she's heard that voice in her head.

Putting Frank and Lisa in a room together... wasn't going well.

Lisa was sitting against the far wall, her nose slightly crooked and bleeding. Frank had bite marks on his cheek. It was only going to get worse from there if things continued. So the old man looked for an exit.

Queen Elsa had been following the group, but had been quiet as of late. She didn't feel the need to involve herself much after the trouble many murder game related events seemed to bring her. Now, apparently, the group would have to face some sort of new enemy to move on. The queen hoped they would take care of it so she wouldn't have to step in. So for the mean time, she stood in front of the fourth tent and quietly waited. There were people she could've spoken to, but the icy queen found it difficult to interact with others after everything that had happened to her in Silent Hill.

@Anybody interested in investigating the bodies


Those who went to look at Frank and Lisa's bodies would immediately notice they each had a few stab wounds on their bodies. They were shallow wounds, no particular wound seeming enough to kill either one of them in one strike. It must have taken a couple stabs to do the deed. The group would also see that one of Frank's arms was cut off.


The communicators then began to beep, reminding the group to vote for who they thought the traitor was.​

No pieces of metal were splintered into the flesh, however, upon examining the cuts Jon could see they were all about the same size as the arrow sticking out of Lisa's body...

Ruby and Sophie had both gone to investigate the bodies, though, they didn't look very comfortable to say the least... Especially when Ruby noticed one of Frank's arms had been cut off, Sophie scratched her her head a little though, remembering that Shiki had indeed used arrows as weapons, the arrows that he had pulled out of Aqua, or at least the last time she had payed attention to him anyways. Right now, as they both turned to Shiki's tent for a moment, they could hear some... Lewd things being said by Junko, and Shiki, which Sophie quickly covered Ruby's ears in response to. They both couldn't be sure about voting for Shiki, but, he was indeed a very potential suspect, then again, could someone have tried to remove arrows from their bodies after they were shot? Who knows, but, Legolas was another potential suspect, but, then again, these stab woulds seemed shallow, really shallow, leaning towards the impression that Shiki might have done the stabbing with some arrows, but, then, if that was the case, could he really have severed Frank's entire arm? Ruby looked to Sophie after a while "Who could... Cut off an arm like that..." she asked, sounding rather horrified, Sophie shrugged a little, seeming to be at least a little put off by all of this "I... Don't know..." she said frowning a little, if the killer worked alone, then, they could rule out Shiki stabbing them to death with arrows, but, then, what other suspects would they have? Ones that could certainly do some damage, that's for sure...​

Queen Elsa had been following the group, but had been quiet as of late. She didn't feel the need to involve herself much after the trouble many murder game related events seemed to bring her. Now, apparently, the group would have to face some sort of new enemy to move on. The queen hoped they would take care of it so she wouldn't have to step in. So for the mean time, she stood in front of the fourth tent and quietly waited. There were people she could've spoken to, but the icy queen found it difficult to interact with others after everything that had happened to her in Silent Hill.

Molly was close behind Elliot as he walked, but she didn't care much for the scenery, for most of the land was barren and covered in ancient key like weapons. She managed to catch the glimpse of Elsa, causing the young, or more like recently alive women to stop. Molly stared for what seemed like hours, but in reality was 10 pure, lovely and untainted minutes. Slowly approaching her, Molly managed a faint, but just loud enough answer.

"Elsa....?"

Shiki whistled as suddenly, many knives seem to materialize out of nowhere. With his glasses absent, his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception were able to comprehend all the weapons, registering them as "alive" for all intents and purposes. As alive as an inanimate object could be anyway. Though all these targets would put a strain on poor Tohno, Nanaya was more... attuned to death, and thus, was not as affected by the side-effects of the Mystic Eyes.

Still, even so, Shiki could see a flash of static occur within his vision as the knives appeared. As though what he was comprehending were more than just normal knives, but... like concepts. Something more abstract to kill than a chair, like a poison or vampiric influence.

Or even the world.

Still, someone like Shiki Nanaya would not falter. He practically got off on this kind of thrill after all.

Beat. Beat. Beat. His heart was racing. From what? Possibly excitement. Fear was a concept that may as well have been one of the things he had killed. Just like pain.

"My, aren't they all shiny?" He asked, maintaining his usual cool smile for now, gripping his knife tightly, "Are we going to fight then? Did I come on too strong? Is that it?"

"I'm uh... I'm just going to step out. The Doctor will be temporarily out until this situation can be cleared up. Knives haven't really been my strong suit since the Tranquility Lane simulation." Riley himself was beginning to feel a bit lightheaded, but he didn't know why. "As you can see, I'm not a fan of knives..." He grabbed the Nuka Cola, his lab coat, and the box of Medical supplies, and stepped out.

Despite the fact she had just brought in a bunch of knives from the past and future, Shiki didn't seem to be fazed. "Yes. Yes they are," she said. They were all the same knife, after all, and rarely were they not cleaned.
"...no, I'm not into bullying," she sighed, though keeping the wall of knives up because she didn't know what he wanted. Or really, because she did know what he wanted. She decided she'd settle this quickly.

"Junko, move out of the way," she demanded. She grinned, looking at Shiki. "Yes, maybe you did. But if you can make it past these knives, perhaps I'll hear you out. Feel free to back out, though." She didn't get to play like this often, but since he didn't appear afraid it should be fine, right? Pulling out a second knife, she threw it out and repeated what she had done with the other knife. The whole tent was filled with knives, leaving just enough space for Junko to stand to the side. She thought about slowing his time down, but decided that'd be cheating.

Raynor looked over to the two girls who had just arrived, frowning at their horror. Raynor only hoped Frank would get some kind of proper burial, or at least some way to shield the corpse from other people. It just wasn't right to leave it out here in the open, rotting

"Whoever it was, they wanted Frank to suffer. No one would do this, unless they had some dues to pay...or they're sick in the mind"

Raynor sighed as he reached to his belt and pulled out a large cigar (Mar Sara brand; Cheap, but it reminds Raynor of home) and stuck it in his mouth, clamping it between his teeth and lighting it with his trusty lighter. Smoke escaped his mouth as he took a few puffs, he needed some relief.

Riley took some antacid out of the medicine box, and nodded. He quickly put it into his mouth, and took a swig of Nuka cola. He wiped his mouth with his sleeve, and stepped outside the tent. He wiped his hands on the lab coat, put the lab coat back on, and prepared walking down the row between the tents. He paced up and down, comparing this wasteland to his. He didn't even look at Frank and Lisa's bodies. It made him too sad. Frank was a dear friend, yes they disagreed, but he still liked and felt sorry for Frank. He kept pacing, up and down the tents he walked.

Listening to Abel try to move on from his previous role (which wasn't really his choice due to the Arch Demon anyways), Lapis felt a bit of normalcy for once... It was a nice change of pace given that she's been through a ton while Abel was gone. However, a bit of worry arose when he finally pointed out her new scar.

"... oh, t-that... it's a long story..." Lapis had a feeling that she would have to tell about how it happened sooner or later. Obviously it had one detail that Abel wouldn't like to hear...

"... so, to keep it short, in one of the fights I got involved in while you and Naoya were gone... I got desperate to help... and this voice in my head offered me more power to my abilities... if I shattered one of my crystals. So... I did that... and for awhile, I was left with one crystal... then when it came to voting for a traitor last time... apparently I got three more crystals... possibly from whoever is the voice in my head... I guess the new scar I got is a side-effect from... shattering one of my crystals for that deal..." Lapis sounded as if she were berating herself passively. Of course a mysterious deal with a mysterious voice in her head was not something she should had taken up in the first place. Now that she thought about it... it's been awhile since she's heard that voice in her head.

"Wait, you broke another crystal? Because a mysterious voice in your head told you to do it?" A worried glare seemingly stared into Lapis's soul while his grip on her hand tightened, "I guess I can't be too angry, seeing as you've got the other three now... But don't make it a habit, okay? Me and Naoya can help out now, so don't risk it."

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot!" Abel's expression brightened up as he dug his hand into his pocket. Soon, he pulled out a familiar bag and opened it up to reveal a precious item to Lapis, "Look, Naoya only put your crystal back together! He wanted me to give it back to you, something about not wanting to be thanked for the work... He's weird like that."

Tracing the ground with her blue eyes, the blonde couldn't help but think about Silent Hill. Elsa hated it, but it was all she could ever think about. She could remember her flesh repeatedly burning, seeing her daughter and husband die, and the dead world she had been trapped in before dying herself. If Elsa had died there, why was she alive again? The queen didn't understand it. Did someone think it would be some kind of sick, entertaining joke to bring Elsa back to life and watch her squirm more? She honestly didn't want to be alive anymore...

Upon hearing Molly arrive, the queen picked her chin up, staring in the other girl's direction. In truth, Molly was Elsa's best friend and she would be ecstatic to see her if only Elsa had the will inside her to believe anything good--like Molly showing up again--could actually happen to her.

"Apparition, please go," she said to Molly. "You can't be real. Molly died on Celebrity Island during the time of the crossed. I haven't seen her in... years," Elsa recalled, frowning. "All the people I love have left, Molly included. You can't be real."

Storm would lean down and take a closer look on the body where the arm was severed to see if it was possibly to discern what type of blade was used. "With his arm clearly severed." Storm asked aloud. "Where is it now?"

He asked, maintaining his composure, it seemed, as he held his knife in a reverse grip, fiddling around with it as he smiled back at her, "Hmm. With an offer like that, how could I possibly refuse?" He asked, twirling his knife some more and holding it up, nodding and briefly side-stepping several times, as if to get himself warmed up for whatever Sakuya had planned for him with her knives.

Alice probably would have been concerned had she'd known the 60% crazier than when they started Shiki and another of her countrywomen from Gensokyo who worked for that ridiculous brat of a vampire were about to have an equally ridiculous knife fight in a relatively small tent, but she wasn't psychic :|

As it was, she just stared coolly at the bodies of Frank and Lisa. She of course had thought the girl incredibly foolish for her slaughter of Ridley, but... both had their hearts in the right place over the course of this crusade.

But heavens was all this death slowly making Alice inured to any sort of despair or anger over it. Just a resolve to slay this beast Akibahara and make it all stop. She glanced to Shanghai and Hourai, and the three of them shared a determined nod before the puppeteer turned to Chloe and clasped her shoulder.

"I must help the others with the slaying of this creature if he's potent enough to give Aqua pause, but there's something I need to request of you..."

*One quiet conversation later*

Alice nodded with that done and floated towards the edge of the group and cleared her throat. "Well, this beast isn't going to slay itself. I head to the fissure. I'll leave a doll behind to cast my vote for me should a suspect reveal itself, but until then my daughters and I head to the fissure"

"...I know I know... I'm an idiot that fell for the bait," Lapis grumbled, and she had no idea if this would result with her "shattering" apart. Her scar did give her some pain earlier, but she didn't want to reveal that bit to Abel at all. At least now, she wouldn't have to resort to that risky move of hers...

"W-Wow... he actually fixed it? During that whole mess you two were in back at the Coalition HQ," Lapis knew about the whole scuffle from the messages that came from "Mercy," and from what Abel had told her when he came back... Taking the crystal into her hands, it immediately lit up from her physical contact, somehow knowing that it was supposed to be linked to her anyways. ... that meant that she had five crystals in total now..

"Pika..." Pikachu clearly didn't want to be around dead bodies, it was too innocent of a Pokemon to be like that. So, Red let the electric mouse head on back to the tents, knowing that the others would keep an eye on the little guy for him. Taking in mind of Storm's question, Red looked around the area for the arm that was severed from Frank.
