Murder Game VII: The Ultimate Game

Those who went to look at Frank and Lisa's bodies would immediately notice they each had a few stab wounds on their bodies. They were shallow wounds, no particular wound seeming enough to kill either one of them in one strike. It must have taken a couple stabs to do the deed. The group would also see that one of Frank's arms was cut off.


The communicators then began to beep, reminding the group to vote for who they thought the traitor was.​

Kalifa and Kaku stood for a moment silently as they took in the findings from the investigation. "It looks as if either the killer was inexperienced at assassination or wanted to create multiple wounds on purpose. Or maybe they wanted them not to die immediately."

"One thing is clear." Kalifa added. "They were taking no chances. They made sure Frank was disarmed."

Kaku noted the phrase, shook his head, and continued. "We now have to vote on a killer. So who is the most likely to have committed this latest murder?"

[Takumi]

"As I, with him," Legolas answered, "I would try my best to keep your master out of harm's way. Because I know how much he means to you. For your sake as well." He didn't want to dwell on such a grim topic any more, so he decided to change the topic of their conversation.

"Do you... sing, as others here seem to be skilled at?", he asked, remembering how he hear Aqua and Nicki Minaj sing recently. He was fascinated by the possibility,and wondered if Fi had that talent as well.

"Yes, I sing." Fi answered, smiling at Legolas.

Mid-Chapter Update
"The Dark Apprentice Awakens"

After Alice found and destroyed one of the Vanitas pieces at the Twister Trench, the group discovered no missing children were in that area. So they quickly moved to leave and head back to the Fissure so they could gather more information.

Frank and the group at Dark Cave, however, found missing Riku and Kairi, helping to escort them back to the Fissure. When the groups brought the children back to the fourth tent, their families were grateful.

"Well, just as promised, I'll give this to you for your help. We really appreciate you finding our children," she said, offering them the necklace

Aqua stepped forward and took it, turning away from the woman before smashing it in her hand.

"Well, our task is complete," she said afterwards. "Now we should be able to find and destroy the divergent--"

"Looking for me now?" the voice of Vanitas would say, playing in the heads of the group. "If you're all ready to come and face me, I'll be exactly where I told you I would be at the beginning. Come find me at the Fissure. I'm looking forward to a challenge, especially from you, Aqua. I hope you've actually grown a nerve since we last met."

With a dark chuckle, the voice faded.

"I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to face him," Aqua declared, moving to leave the tent.

When the flap of the fourth tent was opened, outside of it--in the middle of the camp--the group would find a shocking sight before them.

Frank and Lisa could be seen dead on the ground. Frank appeared to have been stabbed while Lisa appeared to have an arrow stuck out of her body.

Aqua closed her eyes, a feeling of dread overcoming her. "It was the traitors again. We were all inside the tent and didn't even notice. This is... awful..." Aqua wanted to stay and check into who had killed them, but she wanted to go take care of Vanitas as well. She moved to stand in front of the entrance of the tent and quietly think to herself for a moment before contemplating whether or not to leave.

So, for now, it appeared as if the group could either stay at the fissure to continue looking around inside the tents, investigate the bodies, or go to the Fissure to face Vanitas.

"Hm enough of this fighting. Coco, capture the creature now," Joshua said after a moment, watching carefully.

Coco nodded. "On it, boss!"

The little one tossed the pin at the monster, the soul getting sucked inside as if magnetically being drawn inside.

Afterwards, Joshua stepped towards Max and Bayonetta, gesturing for Ridley to follow.

"So, this is what I believe happened," Joshua began, "What just attacked you was a dark soul of one of your departed friends, possessed by Akibahara. Meaning things are starting to get serious. I know all of you would like to return back and help with the war, but I'm afraid at this time I'm only going to let one of you return. The other two who stay with me--plus those who just died--are going to stay behind and help me hunt down some of these monsters."

Joshua smirked at Ridley before glancing at Max and Bayonetta.

"Before you, you'll see one of the traitors who was responsible for death in your group. I'll let her decide which one of you can come back to life. This ought to be interesting. Both of you had better come up with good reasons to convince her..."

Meanwhile, Frank and Lisa would appear in a blank, white room--alone for the moment...

Fi frowned at this and glanced to Link, who had been inside the tent with them, quiet.

[Master, I am returning to the Master Sword.] She told the Link telepathically.

"Legolas, I will return to my Master's sword for now." She informed with a slight bow, before returning to Link's sword as a blue light.

Link sighed. He wasn't sure what to do at the moment. Too much was happening at once. For now, he'd investigate the bodies.

Two dead, another scene, another murderer on the loose, another traitor in the midst, another life taken...

But the song remains the same.

Jon had approached beside Felix, the loyal watchman silently staring down the bodies, his cloak entirely ripped off, pieces of black fabrics drawn over his head like that of a makeshift hood. Due to the humid, hot nature of the environment around him, Jon had been reduced to stripped many of the pelts and coats that he bore during his days in the Land of Always Winter. A moment of silence befell upon the swordsman's lips, the nineteen-year-old glancing briefly at the merc, softly sighing. He knew not of this wasteland, nor of it's inhabitants, as it would seem Claire and that blue-haired girl by the name of Aqua seemed to have a better grasp of the world around them. For Jon, it had gotten to the point where he was simply glad to be alive, still on his vigilant quest to find his sister, to find the last trace of his family he knew was still among the living.

"It is the same as before..." he whispered to the mercenary, kneeling by Frank, trying to inspect the cut. Being from a medieval society and having trained with the sword since his youngest days in Winterfell, Jon had grown accustomed to seeing these wounds, especially when fending off the Wildlings. Hesitantly prodding at it with his gloved hand at where Frank's arm used to connect to his shoulder, Jon began to decipher if the cut was clean or not, or if any pieces of metal had splintered off into the flesh.

Nasty work, but work Jon was not afraid to do anymore, especially with the haunting of Maxwell's death on his mind and the lack of his own memories to enforce that.

Nicki saw how chaotic this was getting, only laughing as she continued to walk away from them. This nuqqa knows when to leave when weird shit is going down.

"Riley my nuqqa, you're gonna have to live with what you chose. You gave Junko the fruit, so man up to what you've done."

Nicki arrived to see the bodies of Frank and Lisa, placing a hand over her mouth and nose. "Oh my god... Out of everyone, they had to get them..." Even though Nicki didn't talk to them as much, she did hear that in their universe, Frank had lost his wife and kids. At least they'll be with their family...

Nicki didn't know if she could handle investigating their bodies, so she waited beside them, looking away.

Red was going to type up something, but then had to think this over a bit. Those were shallow wounds... so it might be possible that the person responsible wasn't exactly experienced or trying to kill right away. It would point over to whoever had a blade and wasn't so... experienced with it. However, they were literally in a place where they were so many rusty old key-like weapons all over.

"I'd say she's not far from it..." Sakuya muttered as Riley gulped the soda.


"..." Sakuya stared at Shiki for a little bit. "I'm sorry, what did you just say?"

"Oya, did that make you freeze in your tracks?" Shiki asked, focusing his attention on Sakuya now as he wrapped his arms around Riley and Junko, stepping forward, "Could it be that... you're actually a prude? A goody-type puritan who doesn't... indulge in this sort of activity?"

Meanwhile, at the Coalition, the raiding party that loyalty served under Arya's command had began to falter and retreat back from the corridors intertwined outside of the VR Room. Bodies from both sides lay, the scorching heat of Abel's attacks, the booming gunfire of Ulysses, and the mysterious presence of a deranged priest fending off the enraged cavalry. Before these men stood an army of those that were left behind, an entire kingdom that was denied hope by the Coalition in their darkest hour. Fathers that lost daughters, brothers that lost sisters, lovers that lost their beloved, and men with nothing else to live for but to see the blood spilled and the fires raged. This was not simply an *evil* army, a hand of great Akibahara. But rather, an uprising, a direct message to the Coalition that justice will be served, whether it be through their hands, or their hands of their Queen.

Retribution at any cost.

Abruptly, ten men upon horses charged around a corner, aiming for the recently arrived Paladins from the Brotherhood of Steel. In their retreat further within the Coalition, they took many of these power-armored techies by surprise, switching out of their swords to maces, a crippling, anti-armor weapon of their era. To much of the shock of those witnessing, the maces dove clean through the power armor, crushing bone as their war horses simply plowed through the post-apocalyptic brotherhood's forces. Upon closer inspection to the steel being used, both from the maces being wildly flung to the swords of deceased Northerners, there appeared to be a certain radiance in the metal. Upon closer inspection, and simple knowledge of Arya's world, it was shockingly revealed to be Valyrian steel, which was almost impossible, as only three-hundred or so weapons of that steel existed. Apparently, the Arch-Demon had granted Arya not only powers beyond her comprehension, but the ability to forge Valyrian blades, an art that was thought to have been lost.

When the dust settled, causalities were on both sides, but the raid had not faltered. Weaken, however, the cavalry could be seen retreating to both the Medical Bay and Cargo Storage.

"Pfft. The work of an amateur. Any professional would know these little bug bite stabs wouldn't be enough. You want to take out, you go slightly left of the center of mass. That or the skull. Which implies...well, any fucking number of things. Idiocy. Incompetence. Fighting against the mind control. Heavy resistance on the part of the victim. At least until the arm removal? And nothing against the fucking old guy, he was in damn good shape but he still wasn't in his physical prime. And the daughter...well, hell if I know. It'd be best if we were dealing with idiotic incompetents, I know those types very well."

"You...you...yes! Yes, I am! And I advise none of you to indulge in it here, either!" Sakuya snapped, crossing her arms and turning away from them. Taking out a knife, she began cleaning it absentmindedly. She was really starting to think of throwing a knife at Shiki, maybe one at Junk, too, though perhaps it was just the fruit's fault in her case.

"Maybe," Aqua replied, side-glancing to Claire when she approached. "But whether they had been mind controlled or not, I just feel bad they were dragged into this war because of me. The only reason they came was to help me out, and Akibahara made them into traitors because of it. I suppose it should be the least of my worries right now, but I still feel bad for them..." The well being of other people, especially her friends, was always a concern on Aqua's mind, whether she had more important things to think about or not...

The master ran a hand through her blue hair and touched her forehead afterwards. She hardly even noticed Claire touch her shoulder; Aqua was completely comfortable around her. "I know, I know, you're right. I just--" Aqua pulled her hand down off her forehead and tightened it into a fist. "I feel sort of responsible for him. Do you know what Vanitas is? He's the dark half of my friend Ventus... Ven wouldn't want him running around hurting others, and neither do I."

Claire's words were tempting though. Aqua would've loved to take a break from fighting and do something else. The keyblade wielder smiled faintly at her friend. "You know what I'd really like to do? I'd like to just talk and have a conversation that has nothing to do with fighting, the war, traitors, or Akibahara," she said, chuckling sadly. "For more than ten years now, I haven't really had the chance to spend much time just being... Aqua... instead of... Master Aqua." She loved to fight, but that wasn't what Aqua always wanted to do. Taking the time to be a normal person every once in a while would've been nice...

"You sure blame yourself a lot," Claire teased. "Not that I'm any better." There was far too many things to list, and Claire was well aware she probably didn't have to take blame for half of it. As she'd told Aqua before, the scar never really went away. "Whoever Vanitas is to you, we can trust someone else to deal with him. I promise. Until the next world, you and I should just relax, okay?" There was a carpet situated outside one of the tents, where Claire decided to take a seat. She pat the ground beside her, waiting for Aqua to join her.

 

[Khan of the Mardu]

It was just as she was trying to eat an apple that Naoya and Abel had appeared out of nowhere. Yeah, she did hear that message from Makoto once they appeared, which relieved her that they weren't traitors anymore. At the same time, it created an awkward feeling in herself, to think that they were actually the very things that she was now determined to find. No, she couldn't bring herself to kill them if needed anyways, not like him. They were freed of the control, so it should be better now.

Drifting away from those dreadful thoughts, it took her a moment to realize that they would see her new "crack-like" scar, going all red with embarrassment as she tried to brush some of her hair to cover her cheek.

"A-Abel... hey," Lapis stammered a bit. God damn, this wasn't like her at all... it was like she was acting normal for once.

Too bad that their reunion was cut short...

"Great... stuff happened," Lapis got up from where she was sitting, finishing up that apple right away. Of course, given that she had a big personal goal for herself by the end of this mess, Lapis was sure to help out with something. Yet, she wasn't so great with investigating bodies, so fighting was another thing she could do.

"... er, looks like I'm going off to fight this Vanitas guy," Lapis sighed,"Abel, you can come with me if you want. I don't mind..." For a moment, she looked over to Red, who had just came up to her with Pikachu on his shoulder.

"... sure Red, go and investigate the bodies," the bounty hunter agreed with what Red had to say through their thoughts. Around this time, she didn't really try to hide the new scar on her face, she probably forgot about it already due to the situation.

With what they had in mind, Red hurried over in order to investigate the bodies while Lapis had the intention of fighting Vanitas at the Fissure.

For a moment, Abel simply enjoyed the chance to be close to Lapis again, taking her hand into his to give it a gentle squeeze. "Sorry I was gone, though now... At least I'm not a traitor anymore... Oh, and me and Naoya got to fight these knights while in the station!" He explained with a smile, trying to understate his old status. However, as they headed off to fight Vanitas, his smile vanished as he noticed the scar on her cheek.

"Ugh, Riley, you're no fun! What's even the point then... You need to loosen up. You straighten that lab coat so much, I think it's made you rigid." She looked to Shiki with a sigh. Junko smiled, though wobbled on her feet slightly. "Shiki, I feel terribly dizzy. Do you mind carrying me again?" And don't be weird about it, she almost said, but something held her back.

Raynor would step back from the tent "Eheh, yeah. You do that..doc." he immediately proceed to finish his flask and put it away, fully walking away from the tent. Not enough time in this mission to get shacked up. He proceed to walk over to the investigation zone examing Frank and Lisas body

When Raynor arrived, he simply stared at the corpse of Frank, no wincing at all. Blood everywhere, a missing arm and multiple stab wounds. Ever since Raynor met the Zerg and its..

His mind paused

..its Queen..he hasn't felt true disgust. Raynor has seen enough death in his lifetime and the sight of mangled corpses seems commonplace now. He overhead the conversation between Aqua and Claire while he examined the body. Raynor cant help but sympathize with Aqua; it seems wherever he goes, war and conflict follows. Its like Jim is some kind of grim fuckin' reaper.

Jim sighed as he rose and looked to anyone else at the investigation zone. "What now?"

But rather, an uprising, a direct message to the Coalition that justice will be served, whether it be through their hands, or their hands of their Queen.

Retribution at any cost.

Abruptly, ten men upon horses charged around a corner, aiming for the recently arrived Paladins from the Brotherhood of Steel. In their retreat further within the Coalition, they took many of these power-armored techies by surprise, switching out of their swords to maces, a crippling, anti-armor weapon of their era. To much of the shock of those witnessing, the maces dove clean through the power armor, crushing bone as their war horses simply plowed through the post-apocalyptic brotherhood's forces. Upon closer inspection to the steel being used, both from the maces being wildly flung to the swords of deceased Northerners, there appeared to be a certain radiance in the metal. Upon closer inspection, and simple knowledge of Arya's world, it was shockingly revealed to be Valyrian steel, which was almost impossible, as only three-hundred or so weapons of that steel existed. Apparently, the Arch-Demon had granted Arya not only powers beyond her comprehension, but the ability to forge Valyrian blades, an art that was thought to have been lost.

When the dust settled, causalities were on both sides, but the raid had not faltered. Weaken, however, the cavalry could be seen retreating to both the Medical Bay and Cargo Storage.

Several Brotherhood Initiates took Position outside of some Hallway doors. "Take some of their weapons. We can use some of these." The Brotherhood commander cocked his Laser Rifle. "On my count, we charge." He held up his fingers. "one, Two, three." A soldier with a minigun burst through the door, and began firing. Some of the Brotherhood knocked desks over, and took cover behind them. "FOR THE BROTHERHOOD!" They shouted. "FOR SENTINEL LYONS!"

Mid-Chapter Update
"The Dark Apprentice Awakens"

After Alice found and destroyed one of the Vanitas pieces at the Twister Trench, the group discovered no missing children were in that area. So they quickly moved to leave and head back to the Fissure so they could gather more information.

Frank and the group at Dark Cave, however, found missing Riku and Kairi, helping to escort them back to the Fissure. When the groups brought the children back to the fourth tent, their families were grateful.

"Well, just as promised, I'll give this to you for your help. We really appreciate you finding our children," she said, offering them the necklace

Aqua stepped forward and took it, turning away from the woman before smashing it in her hand.

"Well, our task is complete," she said afterwards. "Now we should be able to find and destroy the divergent--"

"Looking for me now?" the voice of Vanitas would say, playing in the heads of the group. "If you're all ready to come and face me, I'll be exactly where I told you I would be at the beginning. Come find me at the Fissure. I'm looking forward to a challenge, especially from you, Aqua. I hope you've actually grown a nerve since we last met."

With a dark chuckle, the voice faded.

"I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to face him," Aqua declared, moving to leave the tent.

When the flap of the fourth tent was opened, outside of it--in the middle of the camp--the group would find a shocking sight before them.

Frank and Lisa could be seen dead on the ground. Frank appeared to have been stabbed while Lisa appeared to have an arrow stuck out of her body.

Aqua closed her eyes, a feeling of dread overcoming her. "It was the traitors again. We were all inside the tent and didn't even notice. This is... awful..." Aqua wanted to stay and check into who had killed them, but she wanted to go take care of Vanitas as well. She moved to stand in front of the entrance of the tent and quietly think to herself for a moment before contemplating whether or not to leave.

So, for now, it appeared as if the group could either stay at the fissure to continue looking around inside the tents, investigate the bodies, or go to the Fissure to face Vanitas.

"Hm enough of this fighting. Coco, capture the creature now," Joshua said after a moment, watching carefully.

Coco nodded. "On it, boss!"

The little one tossed the pin at the monster, the soul getting sucked inside as if magnetically being drawn inside.

Afterwards, Joshua stepped towards Max and Bayonetta, gesturing for Ridley to follow.

"So, this is what I believe happened," Joshua began, "What just attacked you was a dark soul of one of your departed friends, possessed by Akibahara. Meaning things are starting to get serious. I know all of you would like to return back and help with the war, but I'm afraid at this time I'm only going to let one of you return. The other two who stay with me--plus those who just died--are going to stay behind and help me hunt down some of these monsters."

Joshua smirked at Ridley before glancing at Max and Bayonetta.

"Before you, you'll see one of the traitors who was responsible for death in your group. I'll let her decide which one of you can come back to life. This ought to be interesting. Both of you had better come up with good reasons to convince her..."

Meanwhile, Frank and Lisa would appear in a blank, white room--alone for the moment...

Riley shifted his arm to get Shiki's arm off of him. "Please... Don't do that ever again." Riley said softly. Riley brushed off his armor. HE lookeda t Junko. "Whatever. Who am i to judge?"


"Routine Medical checkup. Nothing to worry about here."

"You...you...yes! Yes, I am! And I advise none of you to indulge in it here, either!" Sakuya snapped, crossing her arms and turning away from them. Taking out a knife, she began cleaning it absentmindedly. She was really starting to think of throwing a knife at Shiki, maybe one at Junk, too, though perhaps it was just the fruit's fault in her case.

"Ugh, Riley, you're no fun! What's even the point then... You need to loosen up. You straighten that lab coat so much, I think it's made you rigid." She looked to Shiki with a sigh. Junko smiled, though wobbled on her feet slightly. "Shiki, I feel terribly dizzy. Do you mind carrying me again?" And don't be weird about it, she almost said, but something held her back.

"My, my. We're all quite the puritans here, aren't we?" Shiki asked teasingly, shrugging his shoulders a bit, "Ooh, but why not, Sakuya-chan? Don't you ever want to get down with your bad self?" He inquired, quite amused with the predicament at hand here. As Sakuya would take out a knife, Shiki would draw his. It seemed clean already, if not a little dull from disuse. Then again, he had little need for it, since he carried around the sword left behind by her.

The one that Tohno had fallen in love with from the previous Murder Games.

But Nanaya was not Tohno, and he did not share the same attachments as he did. Thus, he felt more comfortable with his knife, Nanatsu-Yoru, than he did with Ackerman's sword.

"Hey hey, I've got one of my own knives too. Wanna compare 'em?" He asked, marching forward a little, and stopping briefly when Junko would talk to him.

"In a moment, doll. I've got another maid to court for myself."

Well, if nothing else, he was forward. A little too forward, but that was okay.

Riley untied the lab coat that he had made a shawl. "I wear it to honor my father, who was a good man. He provided me with everything. I want to honor him. I want to be like him." Riley sighed. "If you're feeling dizzy, you should sit down."

Kalifa and Kaku stood for a moment silently as they took in the findings from the investigation. "It looks as if either the killer was inexperienced at assassination or wanted to create multiple wounds on purpose. Or maybe they wanted them not to die immediately."

"One thing is clear." Kalifa added. "They were taking no chances. They made sure Frank was disarmed."

Kaku noted the phrase, shook his head, and continued. "We now have to vote on a killer. So who is the most likely to have committed this latest murder?"

"Yes, I sing." Fi answered, smiling at Legolas.


Fi frowned at this and glanced to Link, who had been inside the tent with them, quiet.

[Master, I am returning to the Master Sword.] She told the Link telepathically.

"Legolas, I will return to my Master's sword for now." She informed with a slight bow, before returning to Link's sword as a blue light.

Link sighed. He wasn't sure what to do at the moment. Too much was happening at once. For now, he'd investigate the bodies.

Two dead, another scene, another murderer on the loose, another traitor in the midst, another life taken...

But the song remains the same.

Jon had approached beside Felix, the loyal watchman silently staring down the bodies, his cloak entirely ripped off, pieces of black fabrics drawn over his head like that of a makeshift hood. Due to the humid, hot nature of the environment around him, Jon had been reduced to stripped many of the pelts and coats that he bore during his days in the Land of Always Winter. A moment of silence befell upon the swordsman's lips, the nineteen-year-old glancing briefly at the merc, softly sighing. He knew not of this wasteland, nor of it's inhabitants, as it would seem Claire and that blue-haired girl by the name of Aqua seemed to have a better grasp of the world around them. For Jon, it had gotten to the point where he was simply glad to be alive, still on his vigilant quest to find his sister, to find the last trace of his family he knew was still among the living.

"It is the same as before..." he whispered to the mercenary, kneeling by Frank, trying to inspect the cut. Being from a medieval society and having trained with the sword since his youngest days in Winterfell, Jon had grown accustomed to seeing these wounds, especially when fending off the Wildlings. Hesitantly prodding at it with his gloved hand at where Frank's arm used to connect to his shoulder, Jon began to decipher if the cut was clean or not, or if any pieces of metal had splintered off into the flesh.

Nasty work, but work Jon was not afraid to do anymore, especially with the haunting of Maxwell's death on his mind and the lack of his own memories to enforce that.

Raynor would step back from the tent "Eheh, yeah. You do that..doc." he immediately proceed to finish his flask and put it away, fully walking away from the tent. Not enough time in this mission to get shacked up. He proceed to walk over to the investigation zone examing Frank and Lisas body

When Raynor arrived, he simply stared at the corpse of Frank, no wincing at all. Blood everywhere, a missing arm and multiple stab wounds. Ever since Raynor met the Zerg and its..

His mind paused

..its Queen..he hasn't felt true disgust. Raynor has seen enough death in his lifetime and the sight of mangled corpses seems commonplace now. He overhead the conversation between Aqua and Claire while he examined the body. Raynor cant help but sympathize with Aqua; it seems wherever he goes, war and conflict follows. Its like Jim is some kind of grim fuckin' reaper.

Jim sighed as he rose and looked to anyone else at the investigation zone. "What now?"
