hi! my name is jasper. i'm a 22 year old male from the u.s. (the good ol' midwest). i am currently a full-time student in human services/social work, but am currently in the process of dropping that to study english-creative writing and humanistic studies-ancient and medieval studies in the fall! so yes, writing is genuinely important to me, and i find roleplaying to be a nice, relaxing way to develop my skills and satisfy my creative cravings. while i work towards writing for a living, i am currently working full-time in retail management. being a full-time worker and full-time student means that i am often pressed for time, but i do find a surprising amount of time to be online. that said, don't expect my constant presence.
when i'm not working, studying, or writing, i spend most of my free time gaming. i usually enjoy reading as well, but haven't done much of that recently unfortunately. i'm a bit burnt out on reading thanks to school! other interests include animal rights, social activism (mainly lgbt), and criminal psychology (ask me about serial killers, i know it all). even if we aren't rp-compatible, i am open to new friends who share interests! please feel free to talk to me!
i hate to advertise things such as this, but something that may be important to keep in mind when talking or rping with me is that i suffer from a severe anxiety disorder as well as ocd. my symptoms are well-regulated now, but i may have a bad day here and there. these disorders tend to severely slow down my writing, and prevent me from opening ooc messages sometimes. from what i've heard, these things are more noticeable to me than the people around me, so i wouldn't let it put you off too much. but i figured a fair warning was in order! feel free to politely bump me ooc if you think i'm having one of my moments and might need a friendly nudge.
also, i only type in lowercase ooc for the #aesthetic because i think i'm cool; don't worry. i'm decent with grammar.

i don't have a lot of guidelines, so please try to respect the ones i do have. thank you!
• despite my writer aspirations, i am by no means a perfect writer, and i don't expect you to be either. i do, however, expect some of the basics. a simple grasp on grammar, ability to develop a character and story realistically, etc. i also expect multi-paragraph posts - nothing crazy, because i don't have the time to write you a book every time either, but i just don't see how it's even possible to successfully paint a scene and describe your character's actions, dialogue, inner thoughts, etc etc, in less than 2-3 paragraphs. a single paragraph or so is acceptable in certain circumstances, like high action scenes or, ya know, sexy times. other than that, please push yourself to write more. be descriptive. get into your character's head.
• i'm just gonna get this outta the way: i'm gay. like super fucking gay. therefore, i like a gay romance. sue me. m/m romantic pairings are always going to be my preference because they make me soft and mushy, though i am able to write everything under the sun. i will say, though, i don't typically find myself interested in creating original m/f stories. don't get me wrong, i have plenty of m/f pairings in fandoms that i love, but i just tend to think the world has enough straight stories, and i don't have a ton of interest in creating more of my own. this isn't a hard rule, though! if something that happens to be painfully hetero is compelling to me, i'll do it. that said, if you contact me and i see anywhere in your message, profile, or your own partner search, that you only do m/f pairings... i will politely decline, or ignore the message. it really rubs me the wrong way. if i can write straight folks as a gay man, there must be some other reason you can't write gay folks as a straight person, and i'd really rather not mess around with that.
• i'm 22. i'm grown. i adore and support teenage writers with every fiber of my being, and some of you are probably better than me, but i don't feel entirely comfortable roleplaying with you if you are under 18 due to my tendency to lean towards mature themes. sorry! i am willing to make exceptions however, if we have an exceptional level of compatibility, so don't be afraid to message me if you're a highly-interested bluestar! if i accept, explicit sexual content will be off the table, of course, and i will discuss other potential mature themes with you to establish boundaries that are comfortable for us both.
• with that said, i do enjoy me some smut with my adult partners! it isn't a necessity, and i certainly don't like to focus my roleplays on it, but i like it. it's an option. i am a firm believer that it can sometimes be beneficial to the plot to include smut, anyway. other times, it is more fitting to fade to black and skip it. it's a case by case thing. however, i'd like to refer to my second bullet point on this one. i'm obviously going to have an easier time writing m/m smut, but i will attempt anything. all sex is beautiful. but as a golden rule, the more men are involved, the better i am at writing it. meaning m/m > m/f > f/f for me.
• i have few limits. one of my major interests is serial killers, for goodness sake. i can handle a lot. that said, darker themes such as violence, rape, abuse, etc shouldn't be romanticized if they are included. i also won't write out rape scenes, regardless of how it is portrayed. mentions of it are fine. i also prefer that all "main" characters are above the age of 18. smut limits are a whole different story. ask me about these.
• i'm shit at coding pretty posts. i wish i wasn't. you're welcome to make yours pretty, though! and i certainly wouldn't turn you down if you wanted to teach me, as well.
• "doubling" is weird to me. i only want to do a pairing that we're both interested enough in that we don't need to each pick a different one. in the case that it just simply makes sense for a plot to have two different pairings, i'm down for it. i just don't wanna write anything that we aren't both into. i'm also down to double with partners who haven't done m/m and want to try, but would like a m/f or f/f pairing as well to sort of balance out their comfort levels. i've done this before, and i don't mind it, so long as you put equal effort into both pairings.
• please have fun with this! this shouldn't feel like a chore, and if it ever does, feel free to talk to me about it so we can change some things around or take a break.

here will be my ideas for original plots, as well as simple plot "skeletons" to get us started.
• wandering daughter [mxm, pseudo-medieval, trans themes, possible fantasy]
character a is a princess, raised in privilege and comfort, being groomed to fulfill a royal daughter's destiny - sealing alliances through marriage. as she grows up, however, she finds herself increasingly uncomfortable with filling the role of a woman; not because she isn't interested in men, or dressing well, or learning proper manners. she simply feels as though she should be a man doing those things. meanwhile, she develops a close friendship with her favorite royal guard, a man who seems to understand her and take a genuine interest in her well being. after tensions with her father, the king, grow into an unmanageable conflict, she recruits her knightly friend to take her away in the shadow of night, so that she - he - may have a chance to prove himself a man.

what i want to achieve with this plot is exploring a non-traditional trans character - one who exists in a non-modern setting, and one who doesn't adhere to traditional gender "rules" (in this case, feeling like a man despite being fine with most traditionally feminine things). i am open to playing his knight in shining armor if you would like to take a stab at playing him, however.
