The Wilborough Helpers Association [OOC] [Potterverse]

This. THIS. Let's do that right away shall we?

Mhm, you can make him a regular. That would make him...around 24? I think? Failed it once, joined again, 4 years...mhm.
Yeah 24 sounds about right. Looks like a few of our characters will at least know each other from school. Should be fun.

Dear Professor Wilborough,

I heard that you were recruiting new members for the Wilborough Helpers Association, and I would be thrilled if you would consider my application. You probably won't remember me, but I was in your Defence Against the Dark Arts class in my first and second year at Hogwarts. I always loved your class, and from what I've heard about your organisation I think it would be a perfect fit for my skills and passions. I would really love to go out there and make a difference in the world.

I've enclosed the application form below, please do get in touch if you have any further questions. I hope you'll consider me for the position!

Sincerely,
Hana Beckett

Name: Hana Beckett

Gender: Female

Age: 23

Newcomer

Specialty: Charms

Appearance: I'm 5'5", normal-ish body weight (maybe a little on the slim side?) with black, shoulder-length hair (currently dyed blue at the tips… I hope that's not a problem!). And, well, I'm half-Japanese, so yeah I've got the slanty eyes and Asian skin tone and small nose and all that! Oh, and I have a couple tattoos on my left arm – an owl and roses on my upper arm, the Japanese word for 'family' around my wrist, and two interlocking infinity symbols on my hand. I'm a bit rubbish at describing, so here are a few pictures to help!

tumblr_n67051DqbG1sd7wk5o2_250.gif

M558q6tZpAg.jpg

Personality: Wow, this is hard talking about yourself! Okay, I guess I'm very protective and loyal, especially to my family and friends. I like to put on a bit of a tough exterior so people won't mess with me or those close to me, but once you get to know me I'm really very friendly, and a bit silly, to be honest. I like laughing and having a fun time and goofing around. I tend to crack jokes when I'm nervous or anxious or anything; I guess you could say it's a defence mechanism. But even though I joke around a lot, I also work hard, too, especially when someone needs my help. I do sometimes procrastinate a little bit, but only with the not-so-important stuff.

If we're being totally honest, I'm not the neatest person on the planet, but I'll try really hard to keep my space clean and help with chores if you accept me! And you don't have to worry about me getting in fights or anything with the other Helpers – I'm pretty chill and down to earth in general, really the only way you could make me lose my cool would be to attack my friends or family.

Biography: Let's see… I was born on the 25th of April in London. My mum is a Muggle, and Japanese, and my dad, as you probably know, works for the Ministry of Magic, in the Department of Magical Games and Sports. Well, at the time I was born he was still playing Quidditch for the Tutshill Tornadoes. Beater, of course. Mum never fancied Tutshill, though, that's why I was born in London. Said she needed SOME non-magical folk around, or she'd go batty. I have one younger brother, Michi (I call him Meech), but he's not worth your attention.

At Hogwarts I was sorted into Ravenclaw, like my Dad. I was a bit surprised, really, as I was never the bookish sort. I do like learning, just more so the practical kind. Anyway, as I said, I was in your DADA course for 2 years, that was great fun. I've also always loved Charms, and Transfiguration was pretty fun, too. I've always been rubbish at Potions, and likewise I can't cook to save my life. I played on the Quidditch team my last three years, which made Dad very happy. I was a Beater, like him. Never as good as he was, though, but I'm still pretty nimble on a broomstick.

I did my NEWTs in Charms, Transfiguration, DADA, Astronomy, and Ancient Runes, all with good results. After leaving Hogwarts, my Dad got me a job in the Ministry, with the Committee on Experimental Charms, and I've been working there ever since. It was interesting at first, but there's a fair bit of bureaucratic nonsense and red tape to go through all the time at the Ministry, and that just doesn't suit my personality. I'd much rather be out in the world making a difference, and that's why I decided to apply to WHA as soon as I heard you had openings.

Skills:
  • Charms: Top NEWT scores, and experience in the Committee of Experimental Charms for 5 years. And of course, as a requirement of Charms NEWTs, I can also generally manage non-verbal spells.
  • Transfiguration: Received an O on my NEWT in Transfiguration
  • Flying: Played as Beater for 3 years at Hogwarts
  • Cleaning: I mean, not by hand, of course, because that's just too much effort; but I'm quite good at cleaning charms! My charmed sponges will get the dishes spotless.
  • Drawing: I'm not sure how that'll help the WHA, but I'm a pretty good artist. I guess that comes from years of doodling on my notes in class!
Weaknesses: As I said, I'm rubbish at Potions and cooking. I've also never been great at Herbology; all the plants just look the same to me. I hate to say it, but I'm pretty terrible at duelling. I just panic and start casting nonsensical spells that do nothing. I'm great at casting spells on objects, and not bad with animals, but people not so much. So if you need to arrest someone, well, don't ask me. I'll probably end up stuck with my head in a toilet. I'm also not good at running away… or running in general. Dad says I run like a chicken. All I know is, I never seem to be able to move very fast, and I can't get more than a few yards before I get winded. And, as I mentioned before, I'm a bit messy, and I do tend to procrastinate sometimes. Finally, I'm not a big fan of the sun. I burn really easily. It's a good thing I live in England, isn't it?

Equipment:
Well my wand and some money, duh. Besides that… I usually have a notepad and quill and ink, often in a few different colours. I usually have a bunch of hair ties, either in my bag or on my wrist. I often carry a teacup around, cause you just never know when that'll come in handy. Useful devices for Charms, teacups. Besides, I'm partial to using my own teacup. And of course I do carry around one Charms book most of the time, just in case I need to look something up.

Other: I've been told I snore… I'm not sure I believe them, though, they may have just been pranking me. Per the instructions: House 5, Mission 2, OOC 9.

After sleeping on it, I'm still really up for this idea! I'll start working on a CS and have it up in a few hours. :)

@DANAsaur WHAT A CUTE CS OMG. Is she a regular or a newcomer?

Ok so the age checks out (23-10=13 you've known Dorothy but remember that was a decade ago), Sheee....kind of reminds me of Emily? a lot? Emily though is based on another character, Mia, who I used to RP with quite frequently and she was a bubbly mess of clumsiness and happiness. If Mishy is a bit more polite, sort of well-to-do type of person then it's all good.

LOTS of powerful wizarding families going on here, guys. What's wrong with muggles? You were all Slytherin I bet.

You know what guys I think I might have to make you all put your skills and weaknesses in bold so I can figure out which bits are which. Can you all do that for me? Please? Thank you very much. It looks like Mishy has 7 - Gardening, Cooking, Sewing, (Maybe take out Chores?) Transfiguration, Charms, Potions. We've got a potions expert AND a charms expert coming up so perhaps you can get rid of the Charms bit? It'd be stupid to take away Potions, you're a herbologist for goodness' sake.

Listing fears doesn't count as weaknesses, sorry. Perhaps if your character has a crippling fear of Grindylows or Dementors I can take that in as a weakness but I'm not going to allow those. Make your character bad at some stuff that isn't manual labour! Wizards are wizards, we find a way past brute force almost all the time! All we need is a Wingardium Leviosa and it's all sorted. OFc you can still be a weedy little thing but I'm going to need some more weaknesses, if you're stuck then I'm sure me and everyone else can throw ideas at you.

I hope she keeps the chocolate in a little satchel or a box or something so it doesn't get mixed in with the dirt and gardening tools. I'm going to allow your inventory...for now...but if I find you repeatedly whipping out precisely the right ingredients needed for all the potions ever then I'll take that bag away from you!

Dorothy's going to flip when she finds out about where Mishy keeps her wand. One wrong move and her head could be blown off! But that can be solved ICly.

Loving the allergies. And I'm glad to see you read the OOC.
Mishy is a newcomer if that's okay and she's definitely more polite and extremely lady-like. Imagine a posh British lady with a dash of fun and youthfulness in her xD

My character is a Hufflepuff. In fact, I was surprised I became a Hufflepuff when I made a new account in Pottermore while I was making the CS. I did not expect to be a Hufflepuff (not that I have anything against it). I was just surprised since I was always sorted to Slytherin xD

I fixed the skills and weaknesses, put them in bold and removed the things you want me to remove ^_^

I think it would be funny for Mishy to offer one of the helpers a chocolate with a twig stuck in it buuuuut alright. she'll behave and put the chocolates in a box. She'll also make sure not to pick up all the twigs and leaves that she sees so that Dorothy won't confiscate her bag :)

As for the wand, I can't wait to see Mishy freak out as Dorothy scold her. This will be fun!

Also! @DANAsaur I saw that you wrote about Emily and Mishy being school friends, which although was a bit of a surprise, is a wonderful idea! If you'd like, when the RP starts, Emily and Mishy could "Recognise" each other and catch up together, just to get past the awkward first meeting part of RPs. It's your choice, of course, but I thought it'd be a nice idea.
I would love that! First thing Mishy will say to Emily is "Holy cricket, you're Emily Wilborough, the girl I used to frolic with!" xD

could I ask you both to tone it down a bit?
Woops! That was a draft. My internet connection is terrible at the moment! Sorry if I had to save it right here instead of offline.
I chucked in all the things I wanted to put, so I haven't reviewed it. Hang on, I'll finish soon.
If I lose my slot, it's totally fine ^^; Just lemme finish the thing.

Edit:
I'll drop the Metamorphmagus thing, I didn't really put anything else but that. I'll have him be an Animorphmagus pretty please? But I won't do either until I'm finished.

Okay!
Time to post my CS on healer!
Will be up in several minutes/hours/days/decades/centuries ^^

@Boss Megu @Mippu Oh my goodness. Never let me check Character Sheets whilst feeling unwell - SYLVESTER ISN'T AMARISSE'S BROTHER. This changes things. A general rule is only one 'unique' trait per character, so Sylvie can be an Animagus OR a metamorphmagus and Ama can definitely be a half veela no worries guys it was just me. It was all my fault. I'm sorry. Still, Amarisse needs those little tweaks on her CS before she can be accepted.

@Kythera Nice CS, accepted!

@DANAsaur Looks good to me, accepted too!

@Jessikka I suppose I have to let you in, don't I. (jk jk get in here, you're accepted.)

@Lannister @WitchcraftIsScience @You If you two could make some men to balance out the cast I will be eternally grateful. We've also got a lot of good flyers but not a lot of strong people, keep that in mind. And I think we need another Regular? I'm going to have to scour through the OOC and see who is making what.

I'm going to make a cast list under the Character Sheet tab and also cross out reserved positions.

Dear Madam Wilborough
You may not remember, but my mother is your cousin by your grandmother. We visited you from time to time, but it was very long ago (Although I still remember how I accidentally exploded two of your favorite vases). I hope that you will accept me, and I will take part in such a bright work, as keeping Britain's legacy.

Thank you for reading, application is on back side of this letter, notify me if you have any questions towards application information

Best Wishes, Oleg Poskovej.

Name:
Oleg Nikola Poskovej

Gender:
I am considered as male, although, several people on Baltic countries thought that I'm a woman, because of my name. Misspelling "Oleg" on "Olga" can end very bad for people who talk with me.

Age:
I'm 26 with a half. People who I worked with before said - "It's too young to be specialist at that age!". Well, I think I broke age discrimination a little bit?

Regular or Newcomer?:
Newcomer

Specialty:
Healing.
Oh yes, this word still makes all my body rumble from euphoria of happiness to belong to Healers. People that I met throughout life were surprised to see a male healer, kind of discrimination you know?

Appearance:
I am a man of average height. Not too fat, but still not so slim. My hair is grey colored, with a bit of silvery tips. Skin tone is white, with black freckles on cheeks, nose and shoulders. Blood group is B-, just incase. And, I usually wear very colorful clothes, with dark magic occlumency amulet - I am not experienced in mental magic.

Personality:
Well...
I'm very kind, friendly, love to help others...
As it may seem from the side. Actually, I am introvert, with sights of PTD. I can express different shades of psychopathic anger. Sometimes I can fall in deep depression, and don't come out of it in several weeks.
On the bright note, I am usually open for meeting new people. I can be...
Well, I wouldn't call it friendly...
But yes, I can sometimes be friendly, and caring.

Biography:
Okay, let's start!
I was born on April 17th, in Kharkiv. At that age, it was preceded Ukrainian SSR capital. USSR (Union of Soviet Socialistic Republics) was at peak of it's power. But, as I grown, national feelings for Ukraine's independence inside me dusted out. Ukraine people treated our family very bad, because my mother was immigrant from Serbia, and my father was one of USSR Magical Ministry workers. I finished magical education in several small villages, located around territory of Ukraine, and decided to work for Ministry of Magic in USSR. Peak of magical culture could be felt everywhere in biggest cities of powerful union: Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev and more. But, when I was going up the career staircase in Ministry of Magic, it happened.
World War Two in muggle culture. And First Magical War in magical culture. People were massively sent on fronts, to protect our country, and we stood hardly on our feet. The war ended. But, after chaos of conflict soaked, I got sad news:
My father died. I was very angry for conflict, and decided to work in political mission (which was held only be several "democratic" countries) as a diplomacy of USSR, to decrease effect of war. I worked like that in several years, and when i thought that everything was getting back to normal, USSR fell apart. Why was I sad?
Well, it was obvious, that new rulers of post-USSR countries will try to bend magical society in their way. And as I thought, it happened.
Me, and my Ukrainian and Russian friends fled to Britain. I worked for several years as St.Mungo's specialist. But then, I recalled you in my mind, and decided to join you.
My story ends here, but could it be the start of a new one?

Skills:
Herbology
As I consider myself semi-professional healer, my goal at education was to know most of magical sciences, which are connected with healing. I have certificate of ending several healing academies, located in Europe, and one in USSR (Russia - currently destroyed)
Potions
I am known to several types of healing potions. My knowledge rests over to several specific charms, made for potions. I also am one of the small number of people who held secrets of Slavic potions, including healing potions. I don't have any documents proving my knowledge of potions, but you are free to test it at any time needed.
Charms
Of course, you can't consider yourself powerful healer, without having high education in charms: I've been practicing by myself several years; I am capable of non-verbal, and non-wand magic (such as simple elemental manipulation techniques); My education rests until mental types of magic, especially occlumency.

Weaknesses:
Inability for several types of magic
As said upper, I am fully incapable of mental magic. Besides, I am not so skilled in fighting magic, but still can continue a fight using my low education in that magical sphere.
Flying
I am incapable of flying on broom - I always find running, crawling and walking better way to reach the point. But, I am also incapable of casting specialized levitation spells on myself (not on objects).
Post Traumatic Depression
After my country died, my father died, and load of bad things happened, I fell in great depression. There are still bits of suicidal depression in me, so I am vulnerable for suicide.

Equipment:
Not taking in my full complex of potion ingredients, my wand (Oak, 14'3 inches, essence of west-Baltic mermaid's scales), compact boiler, several Slavic medicines. I also carry around muggle vaccines and medicine. Although, all conservative wizards believe that muggle medicine is stupid, and doesn't work ("Duh, what an idiots!"), I carry around complex of muggle pills: from infection, from most of allergies, and more. And now you would wonder "How all those things fit in small compact bag?" I use special bag with increased capacity, by "Undetectable Expansion" spell. Bag also decreases weight on 50% of start mass, is water-proof and fire-proof.

Other:
Oh also Dorothy! I am, um. Don't know how to tell about it, but I'm bisexual with interest in males, so... Please
Don't
Place
Me
With
Males,
I beg you!
And also, by an established standard: House 5, Mission 2, OOC 9.

Lol, the character I"m working on hits most of those points.

@WitchcraftIsScience I'll forgive you because you didn't take a look at the Interest Check, but I advertised the RP as a 'lighthearted, jaunty' adventure with some serious bits. On that note I'm simply unable to accept the character as it is due to the PTD and depression (I also get very anxious when it comes to suicide and self harm), and I'd like you to go back and re-think the base character concept into something less...well, gritty.

I'm usually very open-minded with LGBTQ+ characters and I'm all for a bisexual character but bear in mind that romance - in any and all of its forms - just shouldn't be a driving aspect for any character. Forgive me for sounding blunt here but you seem to imply that he is hopelessly attracted to any male he lays eyes on. I've got quite a few Bisexual buddies and the best they tend to do on a day-to-day is point people out in the street and go "Oh he's cute, look at him!"; nobody locks eyes on another person and instantaneously gets all blushy and awkward over them, it's just not...realistic.

By all means, maybe he'll develop a crush on one of the members that will bloom into a beautiful relationship and Dorothy will knit them matching bobble hats for the winter - but I'll be very disapproving if this healer is unable to control his attractions to the point where he can't be put in the same room as another man. Take his profession into account too - chances are he'd be looking at a lot of naked men, since he's a healer! He can't get flustered and mess up the treatment just because someone looks cute.

On the flip side, he seems acutely antisocial and in some cases even aggressive. On that note alone Dorothy would instantly reject his application, since teamwork and friendships are an integral part of the Helpers.

I'm-...fairly certain WW2 ended September 1945 - the date is currently 1995. That would make your character at least 50 years old. Older than that, even, he was born a while before that so he could at least remember the war.

Your bag is indestructible and overpowered, please at least remove the water-fire-proof enchantments on it.

There are multiple serious errors in your CS - You may have to rewrite it completely.

Sorry for the rating! I accidentally did it but now its gone. Hahaha really sorry. Anyway, I was wondering if its possible that while Mishy was in Hogwarts so was the Marauders? Its just that I have this huge crush on Remus Lupin and I thought it would be fun to write some stuff about her Hogwarts life in the IC. >_<

Um... your characters 23 at the moment, right? That would have them entering Hogwarts roughly two years after the Potters died. I can't speak for Ythania on the Lupin crush thing, but I can say it wouldn't work with your character being the age she is

All relations with canon characters are meant to be avoided whenever possible - we're using the universe, not the plot. And You is correct; it wouldn't have worked logically anyway. Sorry!

Okay, I understand all the marks you've pointed on me, and I'm extremely sorry for the errors I've made. The new version of CS will be up soon.
As again, I'm extremely sorry.

Oh gosh.. Now I feel stupid. The marauders attended hogwarts from 1971-1978. Mishy was born on 1972 soooo yeah.. I should probably do the math first before asking.

Anyway, I can't wait for this to start. I'm soooo excited :)

Why should you be sorry? No harm done, it's just the character wouldn't have been able to work with the RP. I'm pretty tough on these things when it comes to checking but if anyone is stuck or has any trouble meeting the standards I always, always lend a hand. Don't feel like I've kicked you to the dirt and left you there - if you want to character build with me, drop a PM, I'd be happy to help.

I think that's it. I want to give it another once over later (proofread, edit, make it pretty, etc) so I'll call it WIP, but it's basically done. PS I know those three things are missing. They got left out in my copy paste and I'm on my phone now

Miss Wilborough,
I hope this owl finds you well. This is Luke Winters. I'm sure you recall my application from last year and the resulting conversation. I followed your generous advice and continued my job at the apothecary. My time has really expanded my knowledge of everyday wizard culture as well as the practical uses of what I learned in my Potions class. However, as I'm not interested in running an apothecary of my own, there's not much else I can learn here. As such, I'd like to reapply to join up with the Helpers as a Potioneer.

Name: Luke Winters

Gender: Male

Age: 24

Regular or Newcomer?: Regular, 4 years

Specialty: Potion Brewer

Appearance: I'm the big blonde guy, can't really miss me. I stand at 6'3", weighing 226 pounds. I am pale of skin and have blonde hair I keep short and groomed. My default expression is definitely not smiling so I look even more serious than I actually am most of the time.

tumblr_mqv7g3uCwK1qbsvhso4_250.gif
Personality:

Naturally, the first first thing that I should mention is my confidence. My friends might jokingly say that "Confidence" is an understatement, but I stand by it. I know what I can do and what I can't do, and there's no point in playing it down. I don't brag. I'm just upfront about my skill. I'm an active person and being cooped up too long often leaves me restless. Exercise is a regular part of my daily routine. Sometimes when I need to monitor a brewing potion for an extended period of time, I do calisthenics to keep from getting restless.

Despite my quieter demeanor, I am actually fond of conversation and socializing. I'm not the one to typically start a group conversation but I can definitely continue it. I just have to be in the right mood for it. Like a game of football or a good workout, socializing is a lot of fun but can also be exhausting. I'm better one-on-one. Likewise, I'm usually pretty serious. I mean, I like joking around every now and then, but it gets irritating when someone can't take anything seriously. By nature, I'm an organized person. Part of my success as a student was my careful and meticulous notes. I like having a place for everything and everything in its place. I like to know what's going on and what to expect, when reasonable of course. I don't like surprises.

Biography:

Well to begin, I'm Muggleborn. My parents are Muggles of average means. We haven't really wanted for anything, my dad earning the salary of an engineer. We haven't really lived in excess though. I have two sisters, one is younger and one is older. In my younger years, I didn't stand out much. I was a rather independent middle child, and despite my schoolwork and the occasional strange happening, my sisters drew most of the attention.

OF course that all changed on my 11th birthday with my letter. My family didn't quite know how to react at the time, but over the years they've gotten used to it and accept it as any other part of me. Once at Hogwarts I was sorted into Ravenclaw, where I quickly found myself at home. Like in Muggle school I excelled at my academic work. My organized approach to learning made learning all the theory very straightforward for me, and made practicals less difficult. I discovered I had a knack for potions in particular, and quickly fell in love with the subject.

In my time at Hogwarts I was a model student, but I still struggled with the practical aspects of a few classes such as Transfiguration. I wasn't the most popular, but I had a small circle of friends whose company I enjoyed. I discovered Quidditch, which I longed desperately to play. When I started growing into my size in fourth year I believed I'd make an excellent Beater or Keeper. Unfortunately there was no hope of me making the Ravenclaw team.

I passed all my OWLs, moving onto to NEWTs in Potions, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, History of Magic, Astronomy, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. As you know, I wanted to do something useful with my abilities which is why I reached out to you. Though I did consider finding a teaching position abroad. Since then I've lived on Diagon Alley working at the apothecary. In my time there I got a better feel for the everyday lives and culture of witches and wizards.

So now I'm applying to help your Helpers. I do hope you'll have me.

Skills:

I was top of my class in Potions and had the top NEWT score. I have two years of experience at an apothecary. I can brew high quality textbook potions, and my modifications rarely falter. I have an organized approach to life. This means I can have my stock of potions for most circumstances ready to go at a moment's notice. I trust I will also be useful for day to day operations, keeping notes, and analyzing completed missions. My larger size and fitness mean I'm physically strong and can be of pretty good use in a physical altercations should it come down to it. I'm also a strong swimmer. Being Muggleborn, I'm more than familiar with Muggle culture and technology.

Weaknesses:

My organized approach to life means I also have little experience with improvising and thinking on the fly. I don't like surprises and I don't like having to deviate from a plan. I mentioned my failure to join the Quidditch team at Hogwarts, and that is because I'm terrible on a broom. My Transfiguration work is messy and I prefer not to attempt it. I enjoy teaching and helping, but I have low patience for unorganized people or those that can't be serious.

Equipment:

While a carry a stock of potions ingredients, some measuring and cutting tools, and a small cauldron, I put more importance on carrying vials of useful potions. I carry a small knife as well as my wand. I have a few potions books and my two notebooks: One for my potions work and the other for my journal. I like to have a Muggle change of clothes with me, just in case. For the sake of having something to do I also like to have a football with me.

Other:

Even though I get up on time, I am a heavy sleeper. My girlfriend also has requested I ask about your policies on overnight guests...

FC: Alexander Ludwig
As per your request: House 5, Mission 2, OOC 9
