    Home Island:
    Tielle-Arago

Discovered 407 years ago, Tielle-Arago had aggressively expanded since it was founded, a relatively small island that had no particular resources elevated to a position of importance due to being where various major trade routes intersected. Wood, stone, and finally steel artificially grew the island, and within a century, it had almost tripled in size, the residents becoming inn owners, dock owners or tourist trappers. MAGNA presence is a constant within the trade hub, but that rarely deters ambitious Rogues. Though they made their bastion within the Calm World, MAGNA is nevertheless not omnipotent, causing a significant portion of Tielle-Arago's population to consist of unemployed sailors wishing to be picked up by a ship heading back. Presently, Tielle-Arago is ten times the size it used to be, and there are still ongoing construction projects to either expand the wharf or bolster the defences of the place.

  • Physical Appearance:
Liliz is beautiful, and makes an effort to remain so. Her tawny hair, tied in a low ponytail casually tossed over her shoulder, is silky and well-cared for, not a single unsightly knot in it, while her amber eyes droop in the corners, giving her a docile, endearing looks. Carrying herself about strictly, every movement Liliz made exercises a degree of discipline and grace, her back as straight as a board. A thin waist and wide hips makes up for a small bosom, everything accentuated by her willingness to choke herself half to death with a corset. Her hands are soft, calluses exterminated with extreme prejudice, and her pale complexion almost seems to glow. Outside of a mole that dapples on the upper corner of her lips, any skin she bothers to show is unmarked, unblemished.

Liliz is a woman that goes out of her way to look good, even on board a pirate vessel. Can't have people thinking she's just another muscle thug, after all.

    Style:
Crisp white blouses and dark, form-fitting trousers. Liliz ascribes to the idea of practical elegance, walking along the lines of 'elegant professional' and 'I can still punch people out without ripping anything'. Her wardrobe is full of subtly different interpretations of more or less the same type of clothing, a more whimsical personality expressed only in the silk socks she pairs with her black leather shoes. Indeed, her menagerie of different socks has grown to become more than her blouses and trousers combined, from purple embroidered with silver threads to cute cats emerging from black fabric. Though some are particularly extreme, rarely worn outside of special occasions, they all come from different parts of the world, a testament of her own travels.

Liliz never wears gloves, even during winter.

  • Personality:
Composure is hallmark of the strong.

It is by those words that Liliz was raised up, and even though she had abandoned her family, she still follows its principles, an individual that can smile even under great duress. Every movement is calculated, every word considered, every step taken with confidence. If Liliz decides on something, she carries it out without hesitation, without ever bothering to doubt herself again. It is both her strength and her weakness, granting her the stubbornness of a locomotive with rails set and engines roaring. To her friends, she is a steadfast companion, one that will stand by them even when the world's their enemy. To her enemies, she is an unfeeling monster, one that will smile even when the world collapses underneath them.

Liliz is ruthlessly efficient underneath her veneer of grace and discipline, never letting herself relax completely. There is an intensity to every action she takes, movements that indicate that she absolutely, definitely, totally, without a doubt meant to do it. A smile, no matter how beautiful or genuine, does not come reflexively for her, and she buries her identity so deeply that there is no option for her to do anything other than think rather than feel. It is the essence of her way of living, the root of her strength, the foundation of her perfection.

Mistakes cost the lives of others.

It is by those words that Liliz was raised up.

Cooking – For all that people say about 'love' being the best seasoning, cooking creates beauty out of exactness and enriches life. Liliz greatly enjoys the process of mastering recipes and even dabbles in improvisation once in a while.

Cold Weather and Snow – It's easier to control herself when her brain isn't being boiled inside her skull.

Morning Exercise – Nothing beats shaking off the bleariness of sleep with calisthenics.

Being the Prettiest – Being an object of affection and envy isn't all too bad, as long as people keep their distance. Divulging beauty tips helped win points with fellow women as well, which was always a nice bonus.

Harmony – When every individual attains maximum efficiency, their productivity skyrockets. Liliz loves seeing that well-oiled machine at work.

Singing – Though she never spontaneously breaks out in song, singing is one of Liliz's few private pleasures, what she uses to destress.

    Dislikes:
Lechers and Drunks– Nothing is a greater blight upon the world than men who've lost all self-control and decency.

Combat – If the Cook has to fight that means someone else isn't doing their job properly.

Tardiness – Sloth, after all, is a sin, and her own time is being wasted by someone who didn't she was important enough to be punctual for.

Cold Showers – Had enough of that shit during childhood.

Fancy Dresses – Do they wear those things to hide their fat, stubby legs?

Planning Sessions – Too much deliberation wears away at the will to act.

  • History:
For all of Tielle-Arago's importance as a stopping point for merchant vessels and a trade hub between multiple islands, those that had made the place its home are rarely seen or cared about. The location was what the island's value came from, not the resources, culture, or people, and thus, it's the wharf that is protected, not the small mainland where the oldest inns and restaurants could be found. In the face of this cruel logic, the people of island assigned their own to protect the citizens of Tielle-Arago from unruly outsiders.

The Velone family and its many branches is the descendant of the original Town Watch, an organization tied together by bloodlines that lives off the charity of the businesses that it protects. The eldest child to two strict parents, Liliz's earliest memories were that of drills and

This is pretty exciting! I've always wanted to an on-the-seas RP :D Gonna put that sailing know-how to use! ^^

Yeah, if you have 40 pages of info, I'll drop interest.

Mh?

Probs gonna make a cook, cause watching food porn vids is all I do late at night and that totally makes me qualified for RPing such a profession.

Dude, same. At this point I've probably spent more time watching Gordon Ramsay's videos and shows than sleeping during the night.

That's awesome! Maybe you could be a shipwright or something of the sort, you know, a role that requires actually knowing anything about ships and boats. (Pssst... I have no clue about anything. xD) Also would it be possible you're currently running a Tokyo Ghoul rp elsewhere? 'cause I totally applied to that. :P

O_O Damn! Yup, that's me in all likelihood x3 Same profile pic and stuff... Looking forward to writing with you on both fronts! :D

Couple questions!

a) Is the doctor spoken for? Or maybe a gunman? Cannoneer? Engineer? Person who swings on ropes and boards ships? (That's probably a fighter type...)
b) How's this ship even powered? Oars? Magic oars? Steam? Sails? Magic sails?

I was thinking about going a more herbalist/wise woman/apothecary route with the doctor, but you can absolutely take the doctor role. Leaves me open for the possibility of a wilder, experimental scientist type. I'll try not to blow stuff up in that case. *grins*

Ooooo. That sounds cool!! You should do that! I was mostly surveying, but if you've got an idea for a doctor, you should go for it. ^^

Only roles that are definitely given away are Captain and Navigator. If I'm not mistaken the current, worked on applications are cook, shipwright, doctor, and a spy. You do you though, again, it's not first come, first serve. :P

I mean, I could tell you, but... Doesn't that take away from the surprise? :P

What's the general era of technology we could assume the worlds in ? Are we going off normal pirate-y era goods here or are there any advanced technologies we should ( at this point ) be aware of ?

In either case, I was wondering if a gun-slinger would fit in with the party, a no-nonsense old guy with a heart of gold that's just here to have fun.

Somewhere in between steampunk and pre-industrial with magic exceptions, more or less. A gunslinger would be fine, yeah. There are definitely guns. Blunderbusses, flintlocks, canons, and then some. You're welcome to come up with something unique, technology-wise, as well. :)

Oooo, now I'm curious (well, I was before but, more). I was mostly wondering from the POV of an engineer -- if one's needed, and if so, what sort of engine-y thing they'd be working on. But, okay. We shall see.

But right now, I'm probably leaning engineer or ... some sort of demolitions expert. Not to, you know steal your thunder (again) with the blowing things up @the.complex-of-constellations ... >___>

Engineer sounds kinda like it'd overlap with shipwright, I think? Perhaps it'd be better to go into that direction. Demolitions expert works for sure, especially since that'd cover canoneer as well. :)

Sweet. Aaaaalso, I remember from the interest thread you said anime-ish but not anime. Are you alright with trope-y characters or more realistic?

Sweet. Aaaaalso, I remember from the interest thread you said anime-ish but not anime. Are you alright with trope-y characters or more realistic?

Well, what I meant by that is that I basically conceptualized the whole thing as a sort of custom anime, haha. But please don't feel pressured in either way. I WON'T do some of the shitty tropes I dislike, but I'm also super fond of certain other tropes. (Weebtrash guilty as charged). So basically, do whatever you like, honestly, I'm open to almost all kinds of characters.

    Appearance
    ○ Physical Appearance:
Vivahoja has a youthful appearance, with smooth, tan skin and plump lips. A small nose and low cheekbones further the impression of rather delicate facial features. Her magenta eyes are almost always framed with black eyeliner. She has long, pastel blue hair that, when completely undone, reaches below her hip. She usually keeps her hair in various pig-tails, parted by spherical hairclips.

Standing relatively tall at 188cm, she has long arms and slender fingers. Her teeth are notably small and sharp. A rather peculiar feature is her tongue, which is multiple times longer than that of normal humans, meerba, or other races, and which sometimes hangs out of her mouth when she's angry or exhausted.

Her left arm is almost entirely black, with the dark tone fading out at the knuckles of her fingers, and shortly below her shoulder.

    ○ Style:
Fond of creams and pastels, she dresses in light tones. Her most common outfit consists of a peach-colored jumpsuit, equipped with a zipper on the front, which she usually keeps opened up until right below her belly button. Its sleeves are usually rolled up to about her elbows. Underneath it, she wears a simple, pastel-yellow crop top, with swirly floral prints in a slightly darker shade of yellow, which leaves her midsection bare. A small black bow dangles on the lower seam of the top. She wears various silver rings on her left hand, on all fingers except her index finger.

A variety of band-aids glued to her face--most prominently the bridge of her nose and her chin, as well as a seemingly endless amount of smudged oil stains lend her a scrappy quality, even though the band-aids feature rather juvenile prints and colors, such as pink stars and yellow hearts. She usually has a pair of perfectly round, oversized goggles dangling around her neck, which give her a slightly eccentric appearance whenever she's wearing them. She wears a pair of open, light brown boat shoes, through which the top of her feet can be seen.

When she is slacking off, Viva is often wearing a pastel-blue, sleeveless hoodie, with a graphic print of a grey bazooka that is stylized to look like a shark. Underneath the print, "BOOM" is spelled out in bold letters. She wears shorts of various colors and plain, white Chucks. She also is often equipped with an extremely wide-brimmed, black summer hat during down times.

    Personality
    ○ Personality:
Vivahoja is a rather polarized person, operating on one of two extremes, and rarely within the spectrum. She often appears to be bored or lethargic, dismissing other people's concerns or even urgent matters. In fact, she openly declares napping her favorite pastime. However, as lackadaisical as she may seem, Viva will happily pursue promising events. Though it is hard to spark her interest, she is dedicated and often even a little reckless in chasing after whatever DID managed to attract her attention.

Though she often comes across as dismissive, she strongly believes that freedom is the most precious thing a person has, and is fiercely protective of it, so much so that she may fight for people she barely knows if their situation appears to be undeserved and oppressive. In a similar vein, she frowns upon people that restrict other's freedom; It follows that she deeply hates MAGNA, who she views as tyrants.

Viva has a tendency to sit or stand with an extremely straight, arched back when she's in a conversation, appearing alarmed. In addition, she often has a very schoolgirl-like expression on her face when someone talks to her, with wide-open, slightly cross-eyed eyes, and tightly sealed lips, as if she's paying the utmost attention to every word. This contrasts starkly with her otherwise slumped posture and bored behavior, that lend her a more lackadaisical impression. In fact, she often sits or lays down in awkward positions, such as letting her head dangle from the bed, or sitting on the back of a chair instead of the seat itself.

Vivahoja entertains a bipolar stance towards compliments, as she is extremely prone to flattery, and may even drop her guard entirely if she is sufficiently charmed. Despite her otherwise steely behavior, Viva tends to become flustered whenever someone praises her. As such, she has developed a sort of hatred for kind words towards her strengths or appearance; Yet, she cannot help but fall for them.

She is a voracious eater, and is thus very appreciative of people who can cook. She has a soft spot for cute animals.

Though she may not come across as particularly intelligent, Vivahoja is uncharacteristically ambitious in acquiring as much medical knowledge as possible, and does indeed possess enough such wisdom to act as an emergency responder for a wide variety of issues.

    ○ Likes:
    ● Traveling, as it symbolizes freedom at its core; perhaps Viva's most adamantly defended ideal.
    ● Good food, particularly larger feasts, during which socialization is valued, but proper table manners are not.
    ● Putting on a show for others, particularly showing off her balance acts, or juggling.
    ● Sunbathing. Hey, relaxing's important.
    ● Cute animals awaken something in Viva, making her want to care for them.

    ○ Dislikes:
    ● Oppression, particular the mass-scale ordering with which MAGNA operates.
    ● Comments on her appearance, both for their potential inappropriateness, as well as the fact that they fluster her.
    ● Caffeine, as the effect is very strong on Vivahoja's body for some reason.
    ● Having to travel slow, or wait in general.
    ● Clean freaks; Though she likes a nice bath, there comes a level where obsessive neatness becomes scary.

    History
    ○ History:
Vivahoja was born on the island Seagull Body, and into the Lavacosta Syndicate, a prominent Mafia family, and a small branch of nobles not recognized as Divinity. Viva's father and mother served as spies for the syndicate, and often spend time "in the field", thus rarely being around their daughter. Instead, Vivahoja was raised by nannies and caretakers, of which there were plenty that had worked for the Lavacosta family for decades. The youngest Lavacosta received both mental as well as physical education within the walls of the family's mansion, being trained in sports such as martial arts and gymnastics from an early age.

Being the offspring of syndicate spies, however, also necessitated a high degree of security. Viva wasn't allowed to leave the estate without protection, and rarely ever left it at all. The possibility of her being kidnapped for leverage was much too high. And so Viva primarily lived her life in isolation, as no other children were born within the inner circle of the Syndicate.

When Viva was 12 years old, the head of the Syndicate began to initiate the girl's introduction into the family business--something her parents strongly opposed, wishing for their daughter to be safe and pursue a legal path in life. However, they were sternly reminded that it was common for the Lavacosta family to get integrated into the Syndicate's ranks, and that Viva's father himself was the son of one of the former Dons. And so, during her parent's absence, Vivahoja's special training began, deepening her experience, and including new lessons, tailored specifically to a future role within the Syndicate's operations.

Shortly before Viva's 18th birthday, her apprenticeship was finished, and the girl was deemed ready to be sent out into the field--much to her parent's dismay, and, surprisingly, her own, as she felt little incentive to participate in the bloody trade that was Syndicate work. Of course, this opinion was unacceptable to be voiced, and so her first mission was assigned; Vivahoja was slated to assassinate a delivery convoy and steal the Moirae Cards that were transported, alongside her parents.

Not wanting to go through with it, Viva confided in her parents, who were supposed to help her during the heist. As expected, the trio faced severe retaliation by the guards of the convoy, forcing a lengthy battle. Amidst the chaos, There is no escape from the Syndicate outside of death or betrayal. Gone in action would be the only way out for Viva, the only way to pursue a normal life. And though the two of them, visibly emotional, could barely stand the thought of separating from their daughter, but returning and reporting of her disappearance in battle, would be the only way to avert being judged traitors, and to avoid Viva from being followed by the Syndicate's agents.

Now on her own, Vivahoja traveled far away from the Syndicate's headquarters, ultimately ending up at the side of an old doctor, who himself once traveled the seas with a band of Rogues. She has since spent a few years as the doctor's apprentice, having learned many useful things, even if her original intention was limited to securing a source of shelter and food.

    Abilities
    ○ Skills & Talents:
Balance | Vivahoja has an excellent sense of balance, and has performed balanced acts ever since she was a child. Being able to walk even across thin string, Viva rarely ever loses her balance, and enjoys putting on a show for willing on-lookers when possible.

Juggling | Vivahoja learned how to juggle as a child, simply because she thought the skill was fun and impressive. Her being ambidextrous made learning this skill considerably easier, and it's one of her favorite pastimes, as well as a good way to cheer herself up.

Medical knowledge | Having undergone a quite intense apprenticeship with a traveling doctor, Vivahoja has learned many useful procedures, and has an advanced understanding of medicine and it's applications.

Ambidextrous | Vivahoja is ambidextrous, with a slight tendency to the left.

    ○ Combat Abilities:
    Base Style:
    ○ Moirae power-based hand-to-hand combat | Originally trained in self-defense and a few assassination techniques, Viva's hand-to-hand combat abilities have been honed since her early days. While she can be a bit of a brawler sometimes, she does posses quite refined knowledge and experience when it comes to fighting with nothing but her hands.

Thanks to her Vile Child Moirae Card, Viva's fighting style is entirely dependent on how creatively she can utilize her powers. Utilizing the oil as a slippery obstacle, or a flammable offensive tool, Viva enjoys getting up close and personal, and putting her enemy on the back foot.

Lastly, Viva posses a flintlock pistol. She is an excellent shot, and her competence only suffers from her slightly below average eye-sight.

    Name:
    Vile Child

    Overview:
Vile Child is a Urocidia class Moirae Card, peculiar in appearance due to its thoroughly solid black design, which wafts in different, shiny shades of black. As a result of activating the card, Vivahoja's left arm turned black, and upon activation, sparkles similar to a diamond, mirroring the card.

Vile Child's main power is the ability to generate a seemingly limitless amount of oil in her immediate vicinity. Should the oil somehow find a limit, the black color that covers most of Vivahoja's arm pales, indicating a necessary recharge, though this is quite a difficult feat to achieve.

The card's usage is determined only by the wielder's creativity, and can be used to simply supply the wielder with crude oil--an admittedly valuable substance that also acts as fuel to a variety of machinery--or be used in much more abstract ways. A good example of the card's versatility could be observed in Vivahoja's recent past, as she has used her ability to generate oil to overwhelm a target's dog's sense of smell, thus enabling her escape.

    Combat Personality:
Vivahoja is not one to seek out conflicts for no reason, but will develop a hot-headed stubbornness when she's forced to partake. Whereas she often presents herself as perhaps slightly apathetic in every day life, she develops an extreme sense of pride in battle, and dislikes leaving a situation when she is of the opinion that she was losing, as she feels the need to redeem herself. Nevertheless, she would never endanger innocent people or friends due to her personal pride, and concedes when it is necessary, even if it may upset her.

    Equipment:
Viva prefers to travel light, with her only note-worthy piece of equipment being a somewhat plain flintlock revolver, adorned with a small, golden line at the sides, and a rucksack with medical supplies.

I will try to get my character up later this weekend. ThoughI was wondering, how big would the crew be? I mean, would we have NPCs or would just be the RPCs manning the ship? Thinking of a rigger for the sails ^^

Depends on applications, really. I'm fine running it with as low as 4-5 people, I'd be open to running it with up to, say, 12 people. I'll likely cap it at 10 though.

This looks like a lot of fun! ^_^

I'm going to work on a character sheet to be considered as well. It appears that most of the key positions are being sought out already, so I'll work on another fun role to add.
