Alec crossed his arms and raised a brow. "Right... just a happy accident then." As if Alec was willing to believe Daren had any sort of ability to stay away from him. Alec would have thought a man like him to be a bit more eager to keep to himself, but hell, it was a damn good thing they ran into each other so often.

"Well, while you're here," he began to say, lowering his voice slightly, "I have some thoughts on this vote we're supposed to make. Would you agree that the girl you were talking to yesterday seemed a bit off? I'f I'm supposed to be looking for signs of that, I'd have to say something like that fits the bill."

@Jeremi @CrunchyCHEEZIT @The Tactician @Social Center
"Hmm? Oh yes...the girl. Yes she was acting quite peculiar wasn't she?" Daren responded lulling over Alec's words. "But is that enough to call her a menace? We mustn't try to start a witch hunt now."

Jo kept his eyes glued to the communication screen, awaiting a response from Captain amidst the conversation between Alec and Darren. He didn't question the presence of the ship counselor, since Jo didn't doubt some people would be in need of a friendly face to talk to in recent times, but the words that escaped from their mouths caught Jo's attention.

Jo learned to just leave Alec to his own devices when he (rarely) has to work with him in a security situation, but in times like this...

"What girl?" Jo turned from the console to face Darren and his fellow security officer, his face hardened and concerned.

Day 2
"Rise of the Infected"

The following day started off relatively ordinary, that is, as ordinary as a trip under Captain Suzumiya could be. Morning announcements came and went in a flash, greater detailing the events of yesterday, describing a couple volunteer jobs the crew needed assistance with, and wishing everyone a safe, productive day. Once announcements had ended, the travelers went about their usual days. At least, most of them did.

For three individuals in particular, life aboard Sagittarius III was about to drastically change. The memories of lives they had thought to be their own would suddenly seem like dreams as different dormant memories would awaken inside them. They would immediately realize that these awakened memories were their true memories, and the ones of their current lives aboard Sagittarius III were actually fake. These individuals wouldn't know how or why this had happened to them at first, but would quickly find an explanation presented to them.

In the form of a telepathic voice and image inside their heads, only the three individuals who had their memories restored would see the face of who had done this to them.

"You know me as Minori Chihara, the librarian, but my real name is Yuki Nagato. If you can hear this message it means you have been awakened and chosen to learn the truth. The explanation behind this occurrence is as follows: Haruhi Suzumiya is a human attending high school from the 20th Century of Earth whom I was assigned to observe. Haruhi Suzumiya has a dormant potential to harness and generate data at will. Short explanation: she contains "god-like" abilities."

"It was the intention of my organization that I observe Suzumiya and see to it that the abilities she has were not to be discovered by her. However, circumstances changed. She discovered her hidden potential and became mentally unhinged by the overwhelming amount of power she possesses. With this power, she wished into existence this pocket universe containing New Earth and Sagittarius III. She then began to pull various individuals from all across space-time out of their own worlds and into this pocket universe. The memories of these individuals were sealed away and they were given new memories. In short, Suzumiya created this space for her own amusement."

"I, however, intend to correct these circumstances. The three of you will be my "Saviors." Your task will be to choose one individual from Sagittarius III each day who will have their memories restored. In my current state, I don't have the power to restore everyone at once, and even if this were viable it would not be possible without alerting Suzumiya. So I have given my power to restore memories to the three of you. The corrections need to be done without her being made aware, as she could stop this plan should she discover it. Keeping this information from Suzumiya is very important. It is also imperative that you do not tell anyone your memories have been restored. It's my suggestion you continue to go on as you have before, pretending nothing has happened."

"While the three of you work to save others, there is one other important plan of correction which must be carried out. Aboard the ship, there are five power cores containing a massive amount of energy to manipulate and generate data. Suzumiya created them, unconsciously placing some of her power into each one. Each day, I will submit a volunteer job request in the Social Center that will result in a power core being located. I will label them with my name so you know which missions will lead to you locating a core. While all five could be located in a day, it would be impossible to collect all at once them without alerting Suzumiya. So the gathering of these cores must be spread out. After a core is located, please have it delivered to the area specified in the job request and I will collect them later. Be discrete so you are not found suspicious by Suzumiya or any of the others."

"Once the five cores are gathered, I will manipulate the data contained in them and create a device. This device will have the power to render Suzumiya unconscious, erase her memories of her abilities along with event, and send her back to her home where she belongs. After this process is complete, I will use the remaining power in the device to send everyone aboard Sagittarius III back to their homes throughout the multiverse."

"If you have questions regarding the task I have given to you, it is my suggestion you contact me in private. Do not forget to vote on someone who you will have saved today, and every day from this point forward. Once you have mentally decided, the power to restore their memories will automatically be activated. That is all."

The telepathic message directed toward the Saviors was not the only unusual circumstance to occur for the day. In the Command Center, Haruhi Suzumiya would freeze in place realizing that something had happened. She couldn't sense exactly what had happened or why, but she knew something was different. Someone had done something to a few members of her crew and had changed things. Something told Suzumiya that this wasn't good.

No, no, no! Someone tampered with the minds of my travelers! I don't know how, but I can sense it. But this is my ship! Things have to go my way! I won't allow this to happen! I'll stop it if its the last thing I do!

Throwing a small tantrum without explaining why, Suzumiya knocked over a computer screen onto the floor and began to repeatedly step on it with her foot. If anyone in the room bothered to ask what her issue was, the Captain would ignore them and continue throwing her fit. She only listened to the others when they informed her of another issue.

Meanwhile, subconsciously, Haruhi Suzumiya had activated her power again. The Captain's strong desire to prevent the Savors from changing things caused her to create an enemy for the Saviors to face. Much like how the Saviors had been awakened, three individuals aboard the ship would suddenly become aware of new abilities and what they had to do with said abilities.

They were now Infectors, plagued by a dormant virus within them. They suddenly knew that each day they will have to infect one person aboard the ship with an intent to try and subdue the Saviors. They wouldn't know who these saviors were exactly, but could feel deep down that they were trouble and needed to be stopped!

Without even realizing she had done it, Haruhi had granted her own wish to try and stop the individuals who were going to manipulate the memories of her other crew members. Miraculously, her power even concocted a fake explanation to tell the others about this new virus aboard the ship.

"Miss Suzumiya, I'm sorry to interrupt, but we have another small problem," Daisuke would say to Haruhi after a moment had passed. "After running our daily diagnostics of the ship, it appears as if some individuals have caused a small leak of contaminated material in the Medical Bay to be spread around the ship. A few people could be infected. We should have everyone on the ship examined in the Medical Bay to make sure this isn't the case."

Haruhi's eyes widened in alarm. "What!? How is that-- Who is responsible for doing this?"

Daisuke frowned. "Our screens aren't giving us much information. I'm not certain if they're glitching, but they're repeatedly blinking one word over and over..."

Saviors_

Glaring at the screen, Haruhi repeated the word. "Saviors, huh? Maybe that's who is responsible for doing this! I bet they're terrorists! I'll make an announcement on this right away. I have a plan!"

A message would then blare over the loudspeaker.

5bccf3a45c8feba4258002991324eebf.png

"This is Captain Suzumiya speaking. I have an emergency announcement to make. A group of individuals known as the Saviors has been suspected of starting trouble aboard this this ship. They are suspected of having spread contaminated material containing a virus that may have been contracted by a few people already. With the cooperation of all the travelers, I intend to locate either these Saviors or infected people. From this point forward, each day I will leave it up to all of you to vote for someone to be examined and quarantined by the Medical Bay so we can find these no good, dirty rotten trouble makers and punish them! Ha ha ha ha! Or... help them if they're sick, of course!"

"Anyhow, try to vote for someone you think is suspicious. If you can't make up your mind, just vote for someone random! All of you will probably get checked eventually, so it doesn't matter! Just head on over to the Social Center and vote on one of the computers there so we can get this problem solved! That's all I have to say for the day. This is Captain Suzumiya signing off."

Vague with her information, Haruhi would probably leave the travelers with more questions than answers. Was this virus deadly? Who were these Saviors? Why couldn't they just have everyone on board the ship be checked out all at once rather than only checking one person a day?

These were all questions individuals in the Command Station would ask Haruhi, only to be given a single answer for all of them. "SHUT UP! I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING!"

But did she really?

Only time would tell.

Derek made his way to the Social Center. Not really sure who he was going to vote for..was the captain just pulling everyone's leg with this whole thing or not. It would probably be better to be safe than sorry. Tenebris sat balanced on Derek's shoulder as he made his to the social center in order to vote.

He decided to vote for Doctor Suyong Park. Before he realized something he had almost forgotten about. He was hungry.

"Damn...I haven't eaten anything since I left home for this ship. Better get something...how bout you Tenebris, you want something to eat?" He asked the crow perched on his shoulder. Tenebris let out a sharp "caw!" and Derek chuckled to himself. Making his to the cafeteria.

"Hey, I'm not the one using menace here," Alec said, turning the chair around to face Daren properly. "I'm just saying, as Security, that if I have to pick someone out, she's someone I'd have to naturally look to. The captain only said it's a quarantine, after all, and the girl probably needs rest anyway..." Not that Alec really cared either way. This whole voting business seemed like a mess no matter how he thought about it.

He realized they had caught someone's attention when Jo turned directly to them and asked who they were talking about. He was also on security, so Alec was at liberty to speak what was on his mind. "Well, buddy, I'm talking about that programmer we have. You know... the teen girl. I mean, I know we have a bunch of teenagers running around on the ship, but who knew one could have so much responsibility..." He could have been talking about the captain here, but he didn't say any names. He leaned against the desk casually and continued, "She was sick yesterday. Felt off. She's the only one I've seen in such a condition, so why would I look at anyone else?"

"Mika was her name I believe." Daren responded. "She was quite...distraught yesterday so I was asked to counsel her. If I did any good who can say?"

"No I used." He replied smiling towards Alec. "Out of everyone here...she exhibits the possible symptoms that would imply a virus. Or that is my uneducated guess at least." As Alec continued talking Daren added his two cents. "Yes...it is quite funny how many teenagers there are running around."

A virus, huh? Without any supplementary information, it was impossible to make a reasonable vote. After all, if they had been doing this for months without being caught, there would already have been signs of it, wouldn't there? Yet neither the crew nor the medical staff had reported anything suspicious as far as she was aware.

Then the only way to go about it was to make a vote for their safety. If the medical staff had been infected, then the results of anyone sent to them would be inconclusive at best, a sentence to becoming infected at worst. With that in mind, Melissa voted for Dr. Suyong Park.

Submitting her vote, Melissa stood up from the computer and took a look at the volunteer board. Since the garden had some sort of problem, that's where she would go. If it was dangerous, there was no way she could leave it to the rest of the seemingly incompetent (when compared to herself at least) crewmates. Thus, she headed off to the gardens.

And as the others introduced themselves, Melissa interjected with a commanding voice, as though she held some position of authority here. Even though she surely didn't, aside from perhaps the archaeologist intern.

"I am Melissa Mibu. Mr. Raven, Klein, Sinclair. Don't slack off just because you don't see anything dangerous just yet. That danger sign meant something. The plants could be poisonous, or anything else. Keep your eyes peeled, understood?"

Craig looked up to Derek and rose a brow. Why did this man have a crow on his shoulder? Was it like a pet? I mean, sure he'd seen some pretty weird things on this ship, but he couldn't help remember his life back home. Y'know, not in space. After he finished chewing and swallowed the food, Craig cleared his throat before speaking.

"So how'd you meet that thing? You have him before all this, y'know, on earth?"

Also, everyone must vote for one person to be quarantined.

The results will be shown during the next update.

There's... bad guys on the ship? Uta thought. She didn't want to be here anymore because of the recent situation, but now these so called "saviors" are here to infect people.

Afraid, Uta tried to hide somewhere, ignoring the vote, simply because she knows no one... except for Luka, whom she doesn't know about nor his name.

Those who made their way to the Garden would not see the mysterious individual who had made the job request there to greet them, but instead they would see a young brunette dressed in a red. She shot them a stern look, as if unsure why they had come.

"Oy, did the Captain send your lot? I don't remember inviting anyone to come here. It's a dangerous time to be in the garden," she stated. She frowned at Raven and Elias, shaking her head. "I don't know what you mean about a job or any Yuki N. person. You mean you're here to help out then?" The young woman paused, mentally deciding that it must have been the Captain who had sent extra help. Who else would have? There was no Yuki N. person aboard the ship as far as she knew.

"Never mind. I'll accept the help. I could use it. Name's Oswin. And what's so dangerous about this place, you ask? Well, come with me and I'll show you," she said, gesturing for them to follow. "But watch your step, and just as Melissa said, keep your eyes peeled. There's weeds all over the place. And as for the dangers, it's better I show them to you rather than explain. It'll be easier if you see the problem for yourselves..."

Sterling was listening to the captain. Someone on the ship had brought a virus on board? That seemed to be very dangerous indeed. He rushed over to the Social Center and paused when he looked at his options. There hadn't exactly- wait, there was one person that he could think of. He looked for a little girl and picked the name. He voted for Uta Komiya. He looked over at the board and headed for storage to help with moving boxes.

"If that's the case, let's just say I am here to represent the Cafeteria. Can't have a hearty meal without good produce, is that correct, everyone?" Raven says with a light, gentlemanly laugh.

"Understood, Oswin. Then, let's go."

With a nod, Melissa mirrored Raven's thoughts and moved to follow the red-clothed woman. Whatever was dangerous about the garden at the moment, she was capable of taking care of it. In her opinion, at least.

@Nater Taters
Derek turned when he noticed Craig asking him about Tenebris. He wasn't really sure how to respond at first... as it was sorta a question out of the blue. Still...the man had asked, and it wouldn't be right if he didn't answer.

"Yes...Tenebris has been with me as far as I can remember...I guess you could say he is...my friend...I'm sorry, i don't think we've met. I'm Derek... and of course this is Tenebris." Pointing to the crow perched on his shoulder...almost on cue Tenebris focused his gaze on Craig before letting out a loud, "Caw!"

"Mika was her name I believe." Daren responded. "She was quite...distraught yesterday so I was asked to counsel her. If I did any good who can say?"
"If you did any good, huh..." Alec smiled at this, looking somewhat mischievous. "Well, we both know you do a lot of good around here, counselor." He leaned forward in his chair slightly, eyes intently on Daren. The others might think he was acting weird or trying to mess with Daren, but it didn't really matter to Alec. Most thought him a bit of an odd duck with a short fuse anyway.

"Some could say you're invaluable," he said casually. He lifted his hand and made an 'OK' symbol with it. "Just, real useful. And you're one of a kind. Got a bunch of Security up in here, but only one of you... Once the captain gets back to me, perhaps we should spend some time discussing the vote and Mika's condition? Away from others, I mean... Don't want anyone to get into a panic."

Another day

Drifting through the void, the sicken patient arose, less groggy than before, recalling the medications and advice given by Daren and Dr. Park. One of the lead programmers of Sagittarius III winced, wearing her same usual schoolgirl attire, going about her usual morning routine of hygiene. Nothing exciting happened, nothing thrilling, nothing unusual- the maddening cycle of passing days, days sacrificed for the faint hope of a better future.

Letting out a small cough, Mika glanced over at a mirror, satisfied to see some color in her skin, the girl already having an unusually fair complexion, the paleness from before making her appear sickly and ridden with pestilence. Styling her brunette hair, the pink-eyed gamer decided to take a walk towards the Social Center. A good ol' energy drink and a bag of chips could do her wonders, unaware of the quarantine and political happenings about the ship.

Noticing the Social Center abnormally crowded, even for what it is, the meek soul slowly tip-toed her way towards the vending machines. Raising the hood of her hoodie, the gamer looked down to her phone. Receiving a text from her hubris-filled pen pal, Mika suppressed a laugh, wondering how much Captain Grumpy Pants missed her.

I'm on the way, senpaai! I feel a lot better, a good day's sleep does well for the body! Grabbin' a quick snack at the Social Center. See you soon!

It was a bit much for her to take in, considering on what the matter seemed to be focusing on. She didn't want to make a mistake, but she didn't want to waste her vote either.

"... I... I'm not sure what to do with my vote."

Lauren tried to recall what was up in the Medical Bay yesterday, but with how she stressed herself out almost by thinking on how to help with volunteering that day, she couldn't really put her finger on what felt suspicious.

"I... I guess I'll follow your vote, Anna... I'll vote for... um, Dr. Park... the virus that was mentioned on the intercom... something related to the virus was said to be from the Medical Bay... u-um, I hope we didn't... catch anything... I'm really worried..."

Her eyebrows showing her signs of worried concern, she shook her head a few times to shake that thought off of her head, listening to what Anna had to say on what they could do.

"Sure... the cafeteria sounds nice... kinda get my head off of yesterday... we didn't do so much help yesterday... with volunteering..."

@Cafeteria

The whole time Anna was walking, underneath her confident demeanor... She did feel quite worried about the whole disease thing; even if they did manage to vote for the right person, there would still be two other infected running around, and... Who knows who else they might infect?

To add to the problem, those who apparently caused the whole infection might even try and do something worse to them. However, as they finally reached the Cafeteria doors, Anna let out a small sigh, turning to her cousin.

"So... Um... Let's see what's on the menu today!" She exclaimed, pushing open one of the cafeteria doors with her back.

Well, who knows what sort of chaos they'd be greeted with in there... But at the very least, they'd get food, right?

@Jeremi @CrunchyCHEEZIT @The Tactician @Social Center
"That does sound pretty suspicious, doesn't it?" Jo responded to Alec, scratching his chin and glancing in between him and the communication screen. Jo didn't stay around the Medbay for too long yesterday, he was tired after the asteroid fiasco and wanted to finish up his hours as soon as possible. Jo didn't even notice a sick girl at the Medbay, but Alec could be talking about any sick teenage girl. Of course he wasn't going to help Jo look into it some more, but Jo might as well set his watch to "Alec Won't Help You" at this point in the cruise.

Alec may or may not have noticed it, but Jo's eyes briefly drifted away from the screen towards a certain vending machine, before quickly looking back towards him.

"...Well, hey, I gotta go do something really quick, so let me know what the Cap's orders are when she gets back to you, alright?" Jo said to Alec, casually giving his fellow officer a pat on the shoulder and a nod towards Darren before turning and urgently walking off. If Jin had listened to Jo, then Jo walked back to where Jin was.

Jin did not listen, and was already at the voting console. Jo walked faster, practically rushing over to Jin and placing a hand on his shoulder, talking quickly. "Jin, listen-- don't vote on anybody just yet. I think I have a good idea on who's actually infected here, but I need to look into i--"

He paused for a second and looked down at the console Jin had just voted in.

Melissa Mibu.

"Oh, god damnit, Jin!"

Jo groaned and rubbed his temples, realizing his brother just wasted his vote on someone who may not even be infected. That isn't to say Jo actually liked Mibu, but she didn't display any signs of sickness when they last spoke (she had plenty of energy when she chewed Jin out), so she has to be innocent. Letting something as petty as personal dislike get in the way of his job is disgusting.

"Alright, uh, if you're able to change or cancel your vote at all, wait for me to get back to you, alright?"

Before Jin could ever question Jo, he was already gone, walking off towards the vending machine area. Mika, bless her heart, heard the sound of security jackboots reverberating off of the Social Center floor, inching closer to her position.

"'Scuse me, ma'am.."

Daren only smirked at Alec's teasing. "It's appreciated that someone here seems to think my work has merit." He responded. "And perhaps so, whenever the captain is ready to respond I'd be more than happy to have you for one of my...meetings."

Meanwhile, Daniel debated on what to do. After all, he was in one of his rare good moods. It wasn't everyday an opportunity of this nature presented itself, you know. He decided to go to the Store first and foremost, to treat himself to something nice.

A vibrant and clean area, Sagittarius' store seemed to be a relaxing place even with the strange elevator music that played within it. Mostly clothes could be seen at first, but after a minute a young girl charged up, sticking a gun in Daniel's face.

Oh God. A child. If anything could ruin Daniel's good mood, it was that. Instead of 'sticking his hands up,' as this little gremlin wanted him to, he merely stared down at her disapprovingly before looking around for an actual adult. Pitiful, the way children were being raised these days. Absolutely pitiful.

"Uhum, okay...Apple Cider, nono, tastes like garbage. Grape Juice? Ehh, maybe Wednesday..."

The young Mika stood in front of the vending machine within the Social Center, having successful infiltrated the den of actual functioning human beings without much attention. Of course, being two or so inches shy from five feet and clad in a green hoodie. Holding her debit card with the imprint of a cutsy bunny etched on the pink card, the programmer shoved the card into machine. Unaware of six foot wall of flesh and testerone coming from behind, the teenager finally made her made, happily tapping away to get a small box of Apple Juice.

Kneeling down to get it, Mika swiftly turned around and bumped into said wall of flesh, sipping on the box of juice, tilting her head silently as the hood of her hoodie came off. Slightly startled, the brunette shockingly kept her cool, pink orbs looking up curiously at the man who approached the ill teenager. Silently waving her left hand, the girl continued to sip on her beverage.

Awkwaaaard.
