Jane was glad when he pulled her up, both packs were heavy on her back to carry. She set them down, watching him remove the disk. As he did, she grabbed a small tube and mallet and headed for the trunk of the tree. "Wyatt, can you bring me a water bottle?" She tapped the hollow tube into the tree, grabbing the bottle quickly. She placed it under just in time as water filled the tube. "There, that solves our water problem for now...we would get more out of jungle trees..." She paused, crouching with dagger in hand as she heard noises filtering from the forest floor.
Nervously, she approached Wyatt, putting a hand on his arm. Jane tried to school her features, but struggled to keep the shaking from her fingers. A crack of thunder above them had her jumping towards the tree trunk. Uncontrollable shaking broke out along her body as the sky lit up with lightening. Thunderstorms on earth had grown sparse but when they rolled in, they were fierce.
Water started pouring down in large drops, soaking the tree tops. Another crash of thunder rolled and Jane crouched to cover her ears. She closed her eyes in a fear she never showed. The sounds and growls on the forest floor only strengthened.
A memory of a storm ripping things away when she was but a mere child flashed through Janes mind. A face of someone she hardly recognized popped into her mind and she grasped the locket around around her neck with knuckles stained white with fear.
