Because numbers are fun: This thread is nearing 1,600 views and has been up for roughly 8 days, so give or take, 200 views a day. Not too bad! We've around 6-7 brave souls that have joined, but many vital positions are still inadequately staffed. Be not afraid lurkers, for adventure awaits you. That and I'd hate to see this not even take off the ground as I feel it has greater potential than some of the other current fantasy role plays (especially with the ideas Zaith cooks up in the background. Don't worry, it's USDA approved).

Present Life: Currently, Marina is residing at the citadel, spending most of her time being prepared for marriage; Emilee and her advisers are never short of things to teach her. She insists on sitting in on her father's council, listening as they discuss politics, war, and other court matters. Marina also spends time with her handmaidens and at court itself, otherwise taking up her hobbies when the opportunity presents itself; she also spends a great deal of time working on hiding her magic. Emilee, her nun, is the only one who knows.

General History:

Other than physical stature and general personality features, Mokie was quite different from her fellow Sylvans. Since early on, she was obsessed with human culture. Leaving her hometown soon after her quickening, Mokie cast away her identity as a Sylvan and assumed life as a human child. Due to her natural talent and prodigal mastery of basic Transmutation and Psionics, any non-advanced or unaware individual within a certain range of her will see her as a human child. With transmutation, her golden glowing skin is simply lightly tanned by the sun and her green eyes are a dark brown. In addition to this, Mokie enters a human household using Psionics to alter their memories when she is in range, causing her presence to be natural. Sometimes she is the daughter, other times she is the neighbor's daughter or the apprentice.

Present Life: Currently residing with a family as their daughter.

    HISTORIC BACKGROUND


    General History: Will expand on this more but the gist is Thrain was born into Clan Sundershield and raised within their strict code of life and action until his early twenties when he began working in the world at large. (Until I have a history of the world, I cannot expand this story beyond this point.)

    Present Life: Drifts between an acting knight errant or mercenary depending on the struggles of the realm or how badly he needs to eat that night.

    Special Historic Notes:
    Clan Sundershield was formed three hundred years ago by the man named Angar Orengyrn Sundershield. Primarily a Northerner bloodline at the time, over the years the bloodline has mingled with other cultures, giving rise to the prominent Western influences in the current generations. Angar formed the Clan out of spite for the rulership in his native lands, seeking to change the way things were run. Within short time, the Clan rose among the rest as a terribly powerful entity. Sundershield took what they wanted when they wanted and were no more better than the bandits that they killed for more gold. It wasnt until his grandson, Erik Dovah Sundershield, challenged him in single combat and killed him, that things changed into the more structured and morally sound Clan that it is today.
    With the fall of Angar, coliquially known as The Shift, Erik reformed Clan Sundershield under a unified, honorable, and powerful banner. In what was known as the Golden Rise, Sundershield saw tremendous growth in all aspects. Before long, they became mercenaries of the leaders of the world. This time of prosperity lasted until his great-granddaughter, Delphine Ingrikson Sundershield, rose to power and began to allow outside influences into the Clan.
    The Fall is what Clansmates call her rise to power. With her on the proverbial throne, she led the Clan into a life of greed and guilty pleasures. Western bloodlines soon mixed in Clan Sundershield and politics poisoned the minds of the once-honorable Clan.
    The Clan became a squabling ground for generations until Thrain Augustus Auraelius Sundershield the First came into control. His methods and ideologies dated back to the days of the Golden Rise he promply excecuted all those who supported the old, polluted, ideologies. As such, the once-vast and corrupt empire has become a small family clan, only housing the most honorable and the strong. In an effort to regrow the clan to its former glory, Thrain allowed the admittance of outsiders into the ranks, but only those who proved their worth and honor to the Clan.
    Currently, the Clan is being lead by Elizabeth Josephine Sundershield, who is continuing to run the Clan with honor and distinction. Unfortunately, many many years of bad blood has caused the Clan to have many enemies and there is a strong distrust of any bearing the Sundershield name. The Great Rebuilding was started by Thrain the First, but only time will tell of Clan Sundershield will become the monolith of power and honor that it once was.

  • General History: Erick was born a Half-Sylvan, a bastardization of a spawn between a human and Sylvan. As such, he has received quite a bit of racism but he has not let that get between him and his love of the people as he knows that everyone is filled with emotion, hate being one of them but he believes that hatred can give way to love and compassion given the right circumstances. As such, he has dedicated his life to learning about the people and the world, both legal and illegal. He is always getting caught sneaking out trying to explore the world at night; but in the day, he is diligent (though he would rather be outside) and loyal to the court.
    Present Life: In the past year, he has started dabbling in alchemy in an attempt to discover a new aspect of life and hopes to bridge the gap between his human and Sylvan halves, allowing him access to the magic that was cut off from him at birth.
    Special Historic Notes: Before his conception, his mother, the Queen, was kidnapped from the capital by a band of Quickling Sylvans. Their demands were simple: they wanted more freedom in the lands of Eventide as they were more oppressed than free at the time. During the time it took to negotiate the terms, the leader of the Quickling band, their 'King,' was able to seduce the Queen and slept with her. Using magic, he made sure that his seed took hold and sired a half-breed child. After that, the Sylvan band disappeared and hasn't been seen since. Instead of killing the bastardized Prince, the King opted to keep the child and raise him as his own son.

    General Appearance: Brittleshin is somewhat of a portly man for his height but under his slight layer of fat is the body of a trained fighter. He is always seen with a longsword on his hip and the finest garments that a Middle-class citizen could purchase (he doesn't believe in ostentatious wealth). When he is out on a trade run, he is seen wearing half-breastplate with a leather and chainmail lamellar. Undercoat.
    He has a rounded face with prominent cheek bones (barely visible past the excess fat on the face) and a high brow. His nose is slightly off-center as it was broken one year and never reset properly.

A man who would see you burn because you shorted him three copper but won't hesitate to loan you three copper if it will help get you on your feet.
    Secret: Infertile (unknown to him), kept the kittens he saved from the orphanage.

  • General History: Thalkor has always been a man who knew that the market would be his home. He raised himself, practically speaking, in the markets and learning how the trade worked. His parents, at the time, were rather poor and could not afford to send him to a school.

    Over time, he improved his knowledge of the markets and started his own junk stall at the tender age of eight. Naturally, he sold little to nothing. Over time, however, he began to learn how to sell an item based off of its possible use. It was then when he started generating a very low income.

    He kept at that stall, improving upon its goods and deals until he turned of age to which he signed up on a trade caravan and began learning the tools of combat. He ran with the caravan (then known as the Mud Runners) for a few years, fighting against bandits and the like. He returned to Arcay to start his own legitimate business when he was twenty-five. Clan Brittleshin was formed then, a market-based clan.

    He ran his business through Ormont and Eventide before he got the idea to contact Mary Evermore with the Market House in Gashton and set up a lucrative trade route. Just prior to the fall of Brill, his parents both passed away due to a house fire.
    Present Life: Tending to his cats, making a profit and being a general busybody with attempting to sway the power of the government.

  • Weapons: A custom-made longsword with an embossed crack running the length of the blade and a sawed neck half-way down the blade itself.
    Armor: A custom-tailored suit of leather and chain lamellar with a half-breastplate overlay. The plate covers his left breast and back and has pauldrons on the left and right shoulders. There is a splintmail lamellar running down the lengths of his arms with plate gauntlets. The right gauntlet does lock. His greaves are a plate and leather blend with the plate being on the fore of his body and the leather encompassing the rest of his legs. He has a splintmail skirt running to his knees with a V-split in the front for movement. He does wear light-plate boots. He has a custom-tailored light-steel shield that has embossed cracks spreading out from the center of the shield disk itself whereas the breastplate has a crack embossed on it spreading from one side to the other.

    His armor takes him ten minutes to don, with help.
    Other: Carries the first gold he made in his business with him.

[BCOLOR=#800000]Hair:[/BCOLOR] Lazarus is known for his wild, stark white hair. He wears it nearly to his waist and often braids it or wears it in a high tail. There are some pieces that seem to be natural high lights of a more platinum blonde color.

[BCOLOR=#800000]Distinguishing Marks:[/BCOLOR] Other than his wild hair, he bears dozens of scars from battle. The most distinguishing is a deep set scar the runs diagonally across his chest and one that runs the length of his throat from a failed attempt to slit it.

[BCOLOR=#800000]General Appearance: [/BCOLOR] Lazarus carries a cool confidence that is only enhanced by his appearance. His skin only a few shades darker than his hair and with a hard, piercing gaze, it's not difficult to see why he's often compared to a wolf. His general demeanor often makes people nervous as he's rarely shaken. His firmness of will and bleak smirk strike straight to the heart of many who meet him.

He's tall and fit with broad shoulders and thin waist but ensures he doesn't become too bulky. His facial features are often considered somewhat delicate and almost statuesque with full lips, long lashes, and a long, straight nose that has never been broken in all his years as a warrior.

His dress armor is rather extravagant in dark silver accented with gold that matches the metal of his blade. He often dons a bright scarlet cape with his armor and usually wears red beneath it as well. His more practical armor is of similar style but subtle in coloring with a darker, flatter toned silver.

In the rare occaison he is seen without his armor, he prefers dark colors that offset his hair and eyes. Black tunics and vests and leather trousers. He'll sometimes wear maroon or red.

He's cold-hearted, calculating, and rarely does anything without some of sort of motivation for himself. He's ruthless when it comes to his enemies and has no problem tearing down those who would disagree with him. His brutality in combat carries over to his politics and social interactions. Most leave conversations with him feeling intimidated and unhappy. There are exceptions, of course. If he finds someone he actually likes he's perfectly charming and seductive, laughing and even cracking jokes. This is few and far between, of course, but he is capable of not being a complete ass. He just doesn't exercise that capability often. If not for his good looks and success, he would probably wildly unpopular at court. But, perhaps if only for many people's inner masochist, people still invite him to things and try to talk to him. He himself doesn't entirely understand it but surmises that those who do win his favor feel privileged in some way.

Other than his long sword, he also carries a long stiletto (The long thin dagger not the shoe! Though he would look amazing in them) in his boot and a short sword on his hip.

[BCOLOR=#800000]More:[/BCOLOR] (As Templars are great haters of magic and certainly wouldn't be considered to use it, I'll place it here) Templars combat mages through the same method mages themselves use: their will. While a mage uses their will to change the universe or twist it to their will, templars exert their will to ensure the universe remains as it is. They can also use the ability, with greater effort, to subdue the will of a mage to undo whatever effect a mage is causing. Lazarus is an exceptionally good templar because of his exceptional will. He's very dedicated to daily meditation and constantly tests his will through combat and mental exercises. His fighting style against non mages is fairly standard and often rather dirty. When it comes to mages, Lazarus has devoted enough time to his will to engage in combat while exerting his will. He begins his assault of will from afar and once he's in range begins his physical assault.

[BCOLOR=#800000]Present Life:[/BCOLOR] Lazarus more or less is devoted to the Templar order. He splits his time between hunting down and exterminating magical threats in Gashton and lobbying for more support to their cause at court. He also spends a fair amount of time in councils with the King under the tutelage of the current Head of the Order. When he isn't working he spends time at his family home in the country or at his apartment in the city.

Now that Lazarus is nearly finished, I'd totally be willing to play one of the Kings or Queens of the nations still without those spots filled. I'd love to contribute to some of the world building but I'd need a little direction. I'm not smart enough to pop off ideas without an assignment x D So if there's one of the ruling roles that needs to be filled (of course considering you guys like me and the character I have going right now enough to trust me with something like that) I'd be happy to do some brainstorming regarding a given nation or whatever you guys need. I also have some ideas for the Templar Order as a whole that I'm going to work through before I finish Lazarus' history.

PM either myself, Zaith or God with your ideas on the Templar Order. One of us will make sure to get a look at them and tossed into the proverbial grinder.

As for a ruling role, its encouraged to have two characters but not enforced so by all means, whip it up and submit it and we will take a look at it :) Prince of Eventide is being filled by myself but I do believe Ormot is completely open in terms of ruling house (though pay attention to the ruling power in that region). An easy way to find what positions are open is to check out the Country stuff on the OP as it will list what slots are open there.

Finally, as for the brainstorming on other topics, I have a list of them that we are working on and getting added input on them would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in providing input on that, let me know and Ill get you set up.
