"Oh dear," Kavik muttered as she tried to look at the map without it getting damaged by the constant rain. Perched on the girl's shoulder was a sleepy looking avian Pokemon, its body was round with leaves sprouting from its chest resembling a rather cute bowtie. "Robin, I can't see a thing," She groaned while folding the map and tucking it away in her bag where it would be safe from water damage. Her partner only tilted its head in confusion and cooed lightly at Kavik's remark.

Silently Rowlet took off, flying above Kavik for a moment before taking off in the direction of its choosing. She could only give a sigh of relief for her partner's excellent vision at night and quickly sought shelter while she waited for the Pokemon to return. During her wait she wasted no time and began studying her surroundings, jotting down notes on her journal and struggling to hang onto her umbrella as the wind tried to steal it away. Despite the weather a Seviper and Zangoose looked as if they were ready to fight, but were promptly broken apart by the sound of a snapping tree branch.

I guess old grudges stay in the blood. She thought while closing her notebook as soon as she had caught Rowlet's spherical body hovering overhead once again. It showed no indication of wanting to land which gave Kavik the hope that it had found shelter. "Way to go, Robin!" She called, her words being lost in the wind, but Rowlet wasted no time in leading Kavik to the newfound shelter. It was struggling against the wind after all.

Where Rowlet had led her was a bit unnerving, the house looked stable enough to survive the storm but worn enough to give it a bit of a haunted feeling. Greenery grow on its walls, looking as though it was trying to make the house apart of nature. Before she could protest the wind had finally stolen her umbrella, the rain nearly soaking her to the bone before she scrambled into the house. It was a fancy looking house, one that probably belonged to a wealthy family before being abandoned and with nothing better to do she did the only thing she could do, and that was to explore.

Tentively she climbed up the creaky stairs, feeling a bit nervous and just the slightest bit paranoid she was being watched. A loud hoot startled Kavik making the girl shriek and nearly knock down an old door in response. Behind her was Rowlet who may have gotten into the house through a opening in the roof that lead to the attic, but she couldn't tell it was even in the house with how silent it's flying was. "D-don't ever do that again," she sputtered while opening the door, greatfull to see it was actually a bedroom.

"Alright, Mor, there's gotta be shelter around here somewhere.." Rythe said to his companion, a Purrloin which he held in his arms against his chest, shielding her from the rain with his body. The thought of returning the Pokemon to her Pokeball hadn't occurred to him, as it had likely occurred to Morrigan. For the moment, he was too focused on finding them a suitable place to wait out the storm. While Rythe's original plan was to have reached the next Pokemon Center, that certainly wasn't happening now.. since he'd managed to get himself a bit lost.

In Rythe's defense, he was new to this. And it was his first trip around the region. Still, that didn't stop Morrigan from expressing her discontent, both at her human companion's actions and at the current weather. Without warning, the Purrloin suddenly wiggled out of his grasp and took off running.

"Morrigan!" the boy called after her as he broke into a run. Rythe didn't have to run too far, since he soon came across an old worn out house, and a rather large one at that. The first glimpse he caught of the building was the front door, in which he saw his renegade Purrloin slipped through the ajar front door. Under normal circumstances, the aspiring Pokemon performer would have turned right around in search of a more hospitable location to stay. But as it was, with rain beginning to pour down and his Purrloin somewhere inside, it seemed he'd have no choice. Rythe approached the front door of the seemingly-abandoned house, giving it a quick knock just for good measure. As he suspected, there was no response and he invited himself inside. Morrigan was, of course, no where to be found in the front room. The Purrloin had probably run off to find something warm to sit on.

Rythe took a moment to run a hand through his wet hair and shake it out. He'd certainly soaked up a lot of water outside. It probably would have been better foresight if he'd brought an umbrella with him. Once he'd spent a moment scolding himself for that, he turned his attention to the interior of the house. If it wasn't apparent by the outside that the place was abandoned, the inside certainly left no room to question it. He only hoped the place wasn't filled with ghost-types. Not that he had anything against them, but if he was already trapped in a creepy dark house for the night, he'd much rather not make it worse.

Morrigan, meanwhile, had already scurried up the stairs in search of somewhere nice to huddle up. Ahead was a girl opening a door, and the Purrloin had already decided that whatever was in the room was better than being outside. She bounded ahead, as sneakily as her species was often known for, and brushed against the stranger's legs as she entered the bedroom. The mischievous Pokemon then leaped onto the bed where she sat herself down as if she belonged there in the first place.

The hairs on Kavik's neck stood on end as she felt something brush against her leg, her already pale skin becoming a bone white. Rowlet was perched on her shoulder the entire time and despite her logic telling her that it was just another Pokemon seeking shelter she couldn't help but yelp and jump back, nearly falling off the railing in the process. This time her partner frantically fluttered away from the voice that was a little too high for comfort and promptly began to inspect the visiting Pokemon with genuine curiosity.

Once she had managed to settle her nerves Kavik peeked into the room with the same curiosity as Rowlet, eyeing the Pokemon suspiciously. It didn't take her long to recognize it as one of the Pokemon that would cause trouble for her parents during their brief business trip to Unova. The Pokemon's coat was in good condition, it was well fed and didn't seem hostile or wary of Kavik, giving her the impression the Purrloin already belonged to someone. To test her theory she tossed a Pokeball at it, only for it to be repealed. "Robin, c'mon." she motioned for her companion to sit on her shoulder, as usual, being a bit unwilling to explore the mansion without a Rowlet around to protect her from Ghost-types that may be lurking.

When Rythe heard a noise, it felt like his heart had stopped. Someone, or something, was in this house as well. Unless it was Morrigan that had made the sound, which he highly doubted. Rythe hurried up the stairs, making no effort to mask his noise, until he reached an open doorway. It seemed reasonable to suspect that whatever transpired had happened inside, and he wouldn't be shocked to find his missing Purrloin in there. Normally he'd have Sissel out as an added safety net, but Rythe knew the timid Eevee would likely just have a heart attack in this spooky house. Instead, he headed into the room alone.

His suspicion was correct, and inside the room he found not only Morrigan, but a girl and an interesting-looking bird Pokemon instead. Must have been from another region, since he didn't recognize it. It only took him a moment to realize that the yelp he heard earlier must have come from the girl. "Oh no, I'm sorry," he quickly apologized, hurrying over to the bed. "This is my Purrloin, I hope she didn't cause you any trouble. We were just trying to hide from the storm." The aforementioned Purrloin had already snuggled onto the bed and appeared to be fast asleep, which elicited a rather frustrated noise from Rythe.

Criminals, hostile Pokemon that were beyond her level, police. Her mind running wild with possibilities as to what could suddenly be trying to get up the stairs in such a frantic manner. To be frank, she would much rather prefer dealing with criminals than the police; she couldn't risk a phone call to her family that would be enough for her mother to drag her back home by the ear if necessary.

The command was just at the tip of her tongue; Rowlet prepared to unleash hell as soon as Kavik said the word, but as soon as the door opened the two relaxed, Kavik having to rest her hands on her knees to stop from collapsing, it was just another victim of the storm's wrath. One jump scare after another it seemed, but the boy didn't seem all too scared of the situation, leaving Kavik to feel a bit like an air head. "There's no need for you to sound like you're trying to justify yourself," she reassured awkwardly. As much as she hated to admit her interest was piqued, Purrloin weren't native to Hoenn, so she was left to assume he was a traveler as much as she was.

"The names Kavik Virius. I'm currently a Pokemon trainer hoping to gather enough knowledge to become a full-time researcher." She offered the stranger her hand and a gentle smile glad to see that she wasn't the only one stuck in the house. Rowlet imitated Kavik and outstretched a wing and hooted happily.

Rythe ended up feeling a bit embarrassed over his frantic explanation for his presence. The truth was, a part of him had assumed that since this girl was here, it must have been her house. In fact, he still wasn't entirely sure that it was not, aside from the fact that it looked abandoned. Perhaps she'd simply been forced to take shelter from the storm, like he had. If that were the case, he was a little relieved that he wouldn't be the only one stuck here.

Now that the adrenaline had worn off a bit, Rythe began to realize how fast things had gone. In the process he'd forgotten to introduce himself, and was only reminded to do so when Kavik gave her name. "Oh, uh, I'm Rythe. Rythe Keller," he replied, pausing to shake her hand. "I'm a Pokemon coordinator. Or well, I'm on my way to becoming one, at least." Great, now that he'd gotten one foot fully into his mouth, he found it a good time to change the subject.

The Pokemon on Kavik's shoulder seemed as good enough a topic as any. "That's a cute Pokemon, I've never seen one before. Is it native to Hoenn?" Despite having never traveled before, Rythe was familiar with a good number of species in the region. He even knew a few not native to Hoenn, like Morrigan, since his parents traveled across regions for a time. It was all secondhand knowledge, though.
