"Its okay. We'll be okay once we get there!"
She ran faster, and opened the door to the stairs. She had no idea what floor she was on, but it only took running down two flights for her to get to the bottom floor. She didnt wait for Jason as she bounded outside into the cold morning air.
She inhaled, taking in lungfulls of air. "Ah... Fresh air, finally."
She could see the green across the way, the trunks of the trees that loomed upwards into the sky, reaching for sunlight.
"Jason, come on!" She started to run again, torward the lush forest ahead.

He curses and continues to run after her. Damn she was faster then she looked. He continued to run after her cursing in his head the entire way. She owed him for this and he was seriously annoyed right now. He goes through all that shit she put him through in the room and now she's telling him to hurry up like nothing happened? She either had short term memory loss or she had a lot of nerve.

Almost there. Almost. She could smell the fresh scent of the leaves, the soil, the clean air.
She ran faster. She could feel the pull, the ache in her bones. Once she crossed the line she could change. Change and probably never go back to being human. Survive in the forest like the animal she was. Her heart was pounding, her lungs ached for air, but she couldnt stop the pump of her legs.
Almost th-!
She hit a solid wall. She stumbled back and fel against her tailbone, and winced. Ouch.
She went to look up but instead a beeft hand wrapped around her throat and lifted her from her place on the ground like she weighed nothing.
"Ja...Son...?"

Jason continued to run after her. and then slid to a stop and cursed. Damn it all why didn't she just listen to him!? He ran forward and pulled a gold coin from his pocket and flipped it. After a few flips it turned into a large golden trident. He reached up and caught it with a small grin "Let her go now!"

Maya struggled and kicked, but black spots were forming at the edges of her vision. Her hands reached up and gripped the meaty glove that was locked on her throat. Shit, it hurt.
Her hands seemed miniscule against the one that had a sure grip on her.
She could hear Jason's voice, but it sounded distant, like she was hearing him from underwater. Her head started to pound, and her vision went out. But she was still concious. Was she dying? Could this be what it felt like to die? She didnt want to die without looking at the stars.
She kicked again, but her lungs were shriveled and broken, needing air but recieving none.

He growled again and ran over and jumped high into the air higher then it should be physically possible to. He had timed his jump just right so he would be in the eyes of the man who grabbed her. As soon as he was level with the sun he let his Trident fly down and impaled the man on it forcing him to drop her.

Maya breathed, her throat raw, her lungs finally filing with air.The haze around her eyes cleared, but her head and body felt light and dizzy. The forest. She had to get there. They found her. The cover of the forest. Go. Go. Go.
"Ja..Son... The for..Rest, GO!"
She stumbled a bit before she took off running again, leaving the bleeding man on the street. It was early morning, and not many would notice until later on in the morning. They would be long gone by then.
She tripped over herself as she kept running, her breath rattling in her lungs, her eyes focused on the green of the forest so close in her reach.

Jason glared at the man and then looked at her and cursed again. He ran by and snatched the trident from the mans body as he went. The trident turned back into a gold coin shortly after he grabbed it and he stuffed it back into his pocket as he continued his chase after her

There. There it was.
She jumped over the city limit and into the cool of the trees. The air immediately cleared, smelling sweet like freshly cut grass.
She tripped on a root and summersaulted into a bush that tugged at her hair. she rolled to a stop, but didnt move. She breathed in the clean air, and allowed her shriveled lungs to inflate after running agian.
Maya waited to hear Jason.
Fuck, he would be livid with her.
But she made it.
Finaly.

Jason ran into the forest and growled again he didn't say anything and just stormed towards her. Once he found her he simply glared down at her. Words could not express how upset he was right now

Oh fuck, he was angry. She could feel the anger pulsing off of him in waves, or that could have been the dizziness she felt from before.
Maya detangled herself from the Bush and looked at the ground. What could she say? She was constantly putting her life in danger, and he had to be the one to save her.
"Jason, I..."

Jason waves his hand to cut her off "just..don't I don't want to hear it your in the forest now so now you can stop acting like a little brat and you can do whatever the hell you want because that seems to be all you want to do anyway."

She stepped back a few paces. Damn, she really did it this time.
Maya looked at him through her eyelashes and bit her lip

"Let me show you, and then I'll tell you why this forest is so important. I'll tell you everything. "

He crosses his arms and sighs and shakes his head "fine..show me.." He takes a few more steps back to give her plenty of room

Maya breathed and allowed her body to stop trembling. This was always the hardest part. Finding it inside her, the sphere of untapped power that lay dorment unless she poked and prodded.
Closing her eyes, she grit her teeth and searched her mind like a dictionary. Sorting through information and tossing the ones aside she didnt need.
There.
She wrapped around the little orb, a flicker, a flash.
Her skin started to itch and burn, making her whimper. Her hands balled into fists as she fell to her knees.. It felt as if her head would explode.
Her bones shifted and cracked inside her, making her scream. Her spine bent and pulled, the cartilage stretching and reforming themselves.
Her heart slammed against her ribcage, the blood pounding in her ears as she fell over completely.
Fuck.
It hurt so much. Her body was filling with molten lava, her head swimming. Her skull reformed as it pulled outward into a snout, the top of her head throbbing as ears pulled from the bone.
Her heart felt as if it stopped as she writhed on the ground. It was over.
Everything was loud. She could hear the beat of Jason's heart, the steady pace of his breathing. Maya could hear the beat of the butterfly's wings, the scuttle of tiny legs under the leaves.
She cracked open her eyes and whimpered. It didnt feel like her, sound like her. The cry of pain was gutteral and feral, coming from the chest instead of the throat.
In place of her hands were large paws, each tipped with a studded claw. The sunlight was bright and was like needles on her iris's.
Her breath rattled in her lungs, wanting the pain to subside. This was the part where she always blacked out, but this time she didnt. She waited, but no wave of ink came to wash her away.
From the ground, Maya moved her overly heavy head to look up at Jason.

Jason stood nearby and watched the transformation with interest yet he showed little sign of fear. Not once did he take a step back nor did his breathing increase not even the sound of her bones snapping and cracking made him flinch. When she finished he gave her a small smile and nodded "well...that's some ability you have

Maya's body was sore and fragile.
She whined, a shrill sound, and tried to stand. Her legs wobbled and she fell, the noise from the fall loud in her head. Everything was bright, everything was loud.
Jason's voice was high in her ears, smashing against her skull with drilling force that made her whimper. She opened her mouth to speak, but all that came out was a strangled noise as if she were choking.
She rolled on her stomach, the fur around her body making her feel hot, her skin itchy and irritated, yet she had no way to reach around and scratch it. Her arms didnt bend like that anymore.
She looked at Jason with pleading eyes. She had no idea how to change back.

He gives a small sigh understanding what she wanted. He walks over and bends down and starts to gently scratch her body "you are so needy..you seriously need to learn how to control your powers"

Maya was furious. How dare he touch her? How da-
God, it felt heavenly. her body felt itchy from the hot air.
However, she wasnt feeling any different. She pushed her voice from its box, and out came a bark. Well, she was some sort of dog, which would explain the large ears on her head.
She kept barking, panic setting in. This was the first she stayed concious through her transformation, and she always awoke in her regular skin. What happens now that she isnt passed out?

He continued to gently scratch her body and let out a small sigh "I'm assuming your scared because you don't know how to change back..don't worry about it so much it's in your blood you knew how to change now you just need to relax and try to do the same thing to change back
