Mid-Round Update - The Ticket

The Knowitall kid decides to share his knowledge with Cleopatra again.

Aic5eEH.png

"Hey, did you know, Montezuma, the King of the Aztecs, would drink 50 quarts of hot chocolate every day? It is said th- hey!"

The Knowitall kid spots the young hero girl sneaking into the Caboose.

"Hey! You can't get in there without an adult! That's against the rules!"

The hero girl ignores him and simply proceeds. That is when the Conductor appears behind her in an intimidating fashion.

g3B6WWe.png

"Did the boy have his share of Hot Chocolate?"

"N... no..." the girl replies.

"Well, then what're we waiting for?" the Conductor bellowed in a manner most friendly, "let's bring it to him!"

And so the Conductor and the hero girl vanish into the Caboose.

The Hero Boy might notice something on the Hero Girl's chair...

A ticket!

Most likely that girl's ticket...

Before he knew it, the ticket flew out of the window before anyone could catch it....

penyA4Z.png

"I guess I'm not the only one who had the idea," the young girl smiles as she sees the sight of Chase giving his Hot Chocolate to Marco. She proceeds to give hers to the boy who sat in the corner.

"Th- thank you," the boy weakly replied as he started to take a sip.

"Well," the Conductor adds, "we have a tight schedule so we'll be heading out now. I'll be back for you all later."

Following that, the girl and the Conductor leave the Caboose.

In the darkness of the Caboose, the individuals that stood there would feel an eerie presence. A petite girl donning black gothic lolita clothing would appear before them.

KEhG7lr.png

"I enjoy socialising as much as you all do," the mysterious maiden steps out of the shadows as she speaks, "but to miss the chance of a drink? Preposterous."

From the shadows, a tusked, chimerical quadraped beast with the snout of an elephant, ears and size of a dog and scales of a dragon appears. From the ceiling, an odd spider-shaped being slung down from its web.

"Arachnophobia is very common, but Franklin here isn't a wild beast that acts on instinct," the young woman assures in her neutral voice, "in Layman's terms, he doesn't bite."

Underneath the spider, a large dreamcatcher, improvised as a tray to carry a few cups of Hot Chocolate, was conjured from the shadows as it hovered in place. Using its twiggy legs, the arachnid handed Hot Chocolate to those who didn't have it. It appeared that the prior-mentioned chimerical beast used its long snout to do the same, holding the handles of the cups like an elephant would hold a giang uprooted tree.

"They're all out. So I pulled a trick to get you all this while they were still serving it, so yes, I already had my share," the young woman says. She turns to Chase. "It turns out that the idea was not completely mine. I- it's only natural for me to do this. It is choice for you, but it is duty for me..."

The young woman turns to make her back face the group, before unleashing an lacy umbrella and opening it.

And so, the Conductor has returned.

"Attention passengers, can I have your tickets please?"

Uq12x2f.png

"O- OK..." Mirei says, scratching her head. Her two friends followed. "Wait a second, we were never given tickets!"

"Are you sure you checked your pocket?"

Nothing there.

"How about your other pocket?"

It was there alright.

The Conductor, with agility that would make Usain Bolt look like a snail, punches various holes on the three tickets to create a pair of letters on each of them.

6FyAgNf.png

"What does S-O mean?"

And so the Conductor walked towards the Hero Boy, only to find this scene unfold.

polar-express-disneyscreencaps.com-2462.jpg

"You can have my ticket if you want."

The Conductor grabs the ticket from the Hero Boy.

"I'll have you know that these tickets are non-exchangeable and one-of-a-kind per person!" the Conductor angrily exclaims.

"He was only giving me his to ticket because I lost mine!" the Hero Girl retaliated.

"So you lost your ticket, right?" the Conductor asks the Hero Girl, only to be responded with a nod. "Well, come with me."

RiTE0eb.png

The young Hero Girl looks back as the Conductor guides her away.

"I'll be back for your tickets in a while, everyone! So stay put!"

In a blink of convenience, the girl's ticket appears in the air vents, allowing the young Hero Boy to snatch it swiftly. That was when he knew what he had to do. He stands up, ready to roll.

The Knowitall kid, in all his glory, interrupts him.

polar-express-disneyscreencaps.com-2519.jpg

"Hey! You can't head there without an adult! This train has rules!"

"But I have to give this ticket back to her!" the Hero Boy retaliates.

So, would you aid this boy in his quest to deliver the ticket to the girl, or be obedient and stay put in your seat, like the Conductor ordered?

Sometimes she wanted to tell the Knowitall kid to shut up and just sit there or something. No one liked a tattle tale of his degree after a while.

After seeing the new arrivals in the caboose, Marco decided that he this might have been a bit too weird even for him. And with that, Marco grabbed his hot chocolate and headed to the passenger car. When he got there though, he saw what happened with the girl and her ticket as he took his seat.

Marco, of course, was conflicted about the situation as it unfolded before his eyes. On the one hand, he was known as the "safe kid." The guy who always played by the rules. Mr. Nice Guy. And he was fine with that. But on the other hand, who knew what would happen to the girl? From the look on the conductor's face, it seemed as though he was pretty angry with the girl. He had to do something to help, right? I mean it would be what Star would do in this situation, after all.

That was it. He had decided. Gulping down the rest of his hot chocolate, Marco stood up and approached the know it all kid. As he approached the kid, Marco looked to the Hero Boy and motioned for him to get the ticket.

"So what are you planning on doing when we get to the North Pole?" Marco asked, trying to get the kid distracted long enough so the other boy would have time to grab the ticket without Mr. Knowitall alerting the conductor.

Just as everything calmed down, Mei heard and saw the intense situation that began to unfold in front of her eyes. Without much assessment, she quickly stood in front of the boy and shielded him with her arms, hoping the Conductor won't hurt the little boy.

When Marco tried to make a conversation happening with a seemingly very arrogant child, Mei saw this as the perfect opportunity to get the Hero Boy to move it. Attempting to hustle the boy to get to the girl without a ticket, she dropped her arms, before apologising to the Conductor for breaking a rule.

"Hurry!" Mei whispered quietly to the hero boy, "Or else the conductor might kick you off the train!"

@Minerva @Crow

Getting out of her seat and throwing on her tattered cloak she walked over to Hero Boy to encourage him to go on, mostly for the fact that he was, in a way, like Shion. Going out of his way to help people. It was somewhat admirable.

"Oi, kid, get a move on. Unless you need someone to hold your hand?" she joked, placing her hands on her hips. Did she really have any authority to call people kid on this train? Oh well, it's not like she's bothering to know their names or anything--other than the few she's come to learn.

@Crow @Minerva @thatguyinthestore @Yatagarasu

Peter found that the boy's personal mission to return the girl's ticket back to her, admirable at the least. Then again, Peter personally liked to see people commit selfless acts for others. As it reminded him of his whole 'job' as Spider-Man.

So, he got up as well. Putting his mask bandana back to it's original place. Hoping he could at least help the hero boy.

"We're going to have to get that ticket back to it's owner, and we won't be able to do that if we stay in here." He said to the boy.

Chase didn't need to debate or comment on what the other girl said. He looked over at what the hero boy was doing and he was already on board. It was important to get her ticket back if it would help her not get thrown off the train. He took a deep breath and followed him.

Hogarth Hughes
@Crow @Others Helping Return the Ticket?

Hogarth had been so busy chugging hot chocolate like his life depended on it that he barely noticed what was happening around him. It was only after maybe his 3rd mug that he finally tuned into his surroundings, just in time too! The Conductor was going around and collecting tickets, and fortunately enough... He miraculously had managed to hold onto his!

However, noticing that one of the passengers had lost their ticket, Hogarth rushed to help the fellow passenger who had rushed to retrieve it. Fortunately, it appears that said passenger had already retrieved the ticket without Hogarth's help, and they were just about ready to head back, when that know it all boy before attempted to stop them, citing some rules about not heading to the caboose without an adult.

Actually taking an honest moment to consider, Hogarth finally shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't need an adult! We can get to that caboose on our own... Right?" He said, asking the boy holding the ticket that girl with the Conductor had lost.

Well, at least Hogarth had his back in this matter, but... With any luck, Hogarth's hubris wasn't going to get the better of him.

Akira had to admit she didn't exactly care either way. It was nice of the boy to try to give his ticket away, but if she didn't have a ticket or lost it that was her own fault. But it wasn't like she was really passionate about following some abstract rules that had been put in place.

She sighed, and then made a shooing motion.

"Just go, kid. If you're lucky, that guy'll be mistaken as an adult anyway," she said as Chase began to follow the Hero Boy.

"Y-Yeah... go ahead. Nothing is going to happen if you just stay here... I... I-I think that majority of people here agreed... if you try and deliver that ticket now."

Looking up from her storybook, Mato quietly cheered the hero boy on, knowing how it felt when there was something she wanted to do for someone but had all of these odds against herself. It felt the same here. Hopefully that ticket gets over to that girl soon...

@Minerva @Crow
"You guys are weirder than the people I know." she replied, shaking her head with a snicker.

Sometimes she wanted to tell the Knowitall kid to shut up and just sit there or something. No one liked a tattle tale of his degree after a while.

@Crow @Minerva @thatguyinthestore @Yatagarasu

@Minerva @Crow @Yatagarasu @Takumi

Chase didn't need to debate or comment on what the other girl said. He looked over at what the hero boy was doing and he was already on board. It was important to get her ticket back if it would help her not get thrown off the train. He took a deep breath and followed him.

And so, it was time to go. The Hero Boy, Chase, Peter and D.Va would proceed towards the Caboose, but the Caboose was but a fraction of their path.

The Hero boy goes towards the end of it, prepared to scale its roof.

O9rWPMd.png

"Where are you going?" the lonely boy asks as the group whizzes past the Caboose.

And so, the group found themselves on the snowcoated roof of the Polar Express. I guess this is what the Conductor didn't want to see.

As they continued to walk, lead by the Hero Boy in this frosty, chilly environment, they would see a figure, hidden by the frosty mists. Maybe it was Krampus, Santa's demonic buddy.

As they approached it, they would realise that it was a human being, sitting down and enjoying a hot beverage that, upon closer inspection, somewhat resembles coffee without cream.

But it wasn't, probably.

Chase followed them and scaled the roof with the rest of them. It seemed to be snowing outside. Hopefully, the track across the train wasn't too icy for him. He paused when he saw the man wearing a beret. " Well, I would love one. But if I may ask a question, who are you and why are you on top of this train and not in it?" He asked.

Hogarth peered at the mug of what looked like coffee, his expression suddenly brightening as he realized what the man on the roof was offering (supposedly).

"Oh! Oh! Can I get an espresso?!" He exclaimed excitedly.

Evidently the young boy was quite excited at the prospect of coffee... Perhaps a liiiittle too excited; he enjoyed the buzz from his last espresso a bit too much, but hey, perhaps he can handle himself better this time?

Hogarth took the cup of coffee eagerly, and though he wasn't sure it was espresso or anything like that, coffee was coffee... And oh boy did he finish it fast!

Fortunately though, it didn't have an effect nearly as strong on him, but the rush was definitely htere; he was suddenly feeling alot more awake than he had been all night... Awake enough to remember the task at hand...

"Hey! Wait a minute, did you see a ticket fly by?" He asked suddenly.

Well well well... Perhaps that coffee did him some good after all.

Chase arched an eyebrow, clearly confused on why this man to be the king of the north pole and why he was- okay, maybe those were questions he didn't need the answer too. " Okay, thanks for the answer." He turned to the others. " We should really try to get the girl."

Inukashi stared at the Hobo for a moment.

"Right. Okay." she replied before glancing to Chase. She was skeptical of this man, and if it was one thing she learned during her time in West Block, people liked to mess with other people's heads by spewing lies of some sort-unless she was able to get good honest info out if them that could be useful.

"He's right, we should get a move on. We got a job to do and all that shit." Inukashi said while jabbimg a thumb in the other male's direction.

"...No, I don't think we're all looking for a girl..."

At least, Akira seriously hoped that this guy wasn't looking for a girl. If he was, bless that poor girl's soul. Also it seemed that at some point, Akira had decided to follow the group to the top of the train. With how cold it was, though, she was kind of suddenly regretting it.

"A-anyway, if you're the king of the North Pole...hold on, that''s got nothing to do with giving that girl her ticket back, right? C'mon, let's just blow past this geezer."

"Uh... yeah, totally with you guys."

Mato wasn't sure on what else to say about the Hobo. He just had some weird things to say, and that confused her... so it was time for a move on, right?

"Agreed, we need to get to that girl so she doesn't get kicked off." Peter had said, rubbing his arms, the wind going through his hoodie. 'Should've thought about making a costume for winter climates.' He was glad that his goggles were protecting his eyes from the wind.

As for the hobo, Peter couldn't help but be curious as to how someone could be out here and be fine.

"I ain't see no ticket flipping around here. The only ticket I see is the one in that kid's hands," the Hobo says to Hogarth.

"Well, good luck with that," the Hobo laughed as a fair deal of the group began to leave. "Oh, one more thing before you all head off for your itty-bitty lovequest - do you believe in ghosts?"

That last sentence had a tone of increased seriousness.
"What are you doing on the top of the train?" Mei stared in shock seeing a...Hobo? on the roof. "It's dangerous there!"

Mei had one hand in front of her face to shield her from the intense blizzard that was blowing right in front of her. "You're gonna get pushed off the train by the snowstorm!"

"And what is a Hot Jo?"

"Well, only one way to find out, huh?" The Hobo says, offering Mei the beverage. "Don't worry about me, I can stay on top of this train for as long as I like, I'm King of the North Pole after all. I wouldn't be if I couldn't survive out here with just my old fireplace and a constant, neverending supply of Hot Jo."
