The Easterling Army

"He is..." she looked to him for a moment, "How old is your sister..?"

"She's just coming on to 12, if I remember correctly. It's been a while since I saw her, but she remembers me each time I come back." he said with a smile. "According to Mum, she's always asking about when I will be getting back home."

She smiles softly, "Just wait till she hits her teens," she snickers slightly and nods, "Thats good that you have family that cares for you.."

"Well, yours tries to, dont they? They just kinda... suck at it." He laughed. "I grew up pretty sheltered though, which is why I want to explore so often."

She scoffs and shakes her head, "No, they dont...I grew up raising myself.." She looks at him, "I can tell you have been slightly sheltered, just small indicators."

"Says the one who hasnt even left Mirkwood before. I've been more places than you could ever dream of." He laughed and pulled a stick from the nearby bushes, using it as a walking stick.

She shakes her head slightly, "Its not about where you have been, its about the journey." She looks at the stick with a raised brow

"Tell me this: Why is this the first time you have ever tried to leave? Wait, is it?" Valtir noticed the look he was getting and dropped the stick with a sigh.

She shook her head, "No, i tried to leave before, but was immediately escorted home as i am 'Too young' to be leaving," Freya rolled her eyes, "And you could have kept the stick..."

"Wait, so they knew you'd left?" Valtir looked into the forest anxiously, paranoid that they were about to be ambushed by a bunch of angry elves.

She shrugged, "I was seen leaving, so thats how they knew, i wasnt seen this time however...I made sure of that much..." She nodded and looked at him, "No need to watch the forest..."

Valtir looked away, but stayed tense. "I've been on your people's bad side before. I'd prefer not to do that again, thanks. I really hope you weren't seen and just didnt notice..."

She shook her head, "I assure you, i was not seen, even if i was, they would have found me by now..."

"Fine then... I believe you..." The day passed on, and soon enough, they had reached the end of Mirkwood. Valtir knew that at the top of the hills infront of them, was a desolate wasteland. It couldnt be seen from here though, so Freya did not yet know.

She had her hands clasped behind her back, her head tilted as she looked around, looking at the hills with curiousity

Valtir walked away from the forest, then turned around and looked at Freya, not sure what to be thinking. "Here we are. From here on, we'll be heading away from Mirkwood. Are you certain you want to come with me?"

She nods, "I already made my decision when i helped you leave the forest..." She tilts her head, "It will be interesting.."

"You have no idea..." Valtir said under his breath, then turned and started walking.

"You're not leaving..." said a voice from behind both of them. Three elves had stepped out of the forest. The two on the sides were dressed in battle attire and the one in the middle was robed. The middle elf stepped forward. "You're coming back with us, Freya. The outside world isnt a place for elflings, especially when you're being led around by some common human." He stared at Valtir, who stared back, angered from the insult.

She glared at them, "I am not an elfling and im not being led around! I dont want to be stuck in there for another 50 odd years, its boring!" She tilted her head, "How did you find me anyway?, no one knew i left..." She narrowed her eyes at the middle elf, singling him out.

"I knew you couldnt be trusted, so I had someone spying on you. You're coming home now! Dont embarrass me again, daughter. Especially in front of a human!"

Valtir had had enough. "Oi! Who do you think you are? This is your daughter, is it? Then treat her with some respect! You should be grateful that you have a daughter as spirited as her!"

The elf's face darkened in anger.
