The Easterling Army

She looks at him curiously when he states that but doesnt say anything, not wanting to pry. She followed along, creating mental markers on what they were passing. Freya enjoyed mazes, but that didnt mean she liked being the one trapped in one, and she hadnt seen to many labyrinths, so she wasnt to sure what to expect.

They walked on for the rest of the day in silence. There was no sign of the sun, as the fog around them had grown to thick to see anything 5 metres around them, let alone the sky. The only indication of the coming night was the slight dimming of their surrounding. Valtir stopped in his tracks and looked around. He had been paying attention to how far they had climbed and dropped, so they were likely to be in a valley. He knelt down and examined the ground.

"We'll have to just rest here for now..." He took a few steps away from where they had come, marking the ground deeply so they would not become lost when they woke, then he turned around and walked back to Freya.

She stopped, nodding slightly as she looks around momentarily, "Alright.." she adjusted her bow slightly and looked up, seeing the dimming of the light, but that was all she could see due to the fog, she looked back at Valtir.

He watched the elf for a moment, then looked at the ground. It was nothing but slightly damp dirt, dust and rocks. He couldn't be bothered digging a ditch to sleep in, so he sat cross legged on the ground and placed his lance crossways in front of him. It was going to be a long night.

Freya sat in a way that made it easy for her to stand up quickly if she needed it. She wasnt afraid of the fog, but she didnt know if anything would appear in the night, and she wasnt taking chances. She had one of her daggers in her hand, spinning it in the air and catching it at the hilt each time.

The moon eventually reached its peak above the fog, hours later, causing a faint, eerie glow to radiate around them. Valtir stood from his meditation, and walked off without a word. He had grown bored, and needed to do what exploring he could, without getting too far away. He disappeared into the fog, out of Freya's sight.

Freya turned and looked at where Valtir had vanished to, she tilted her head slightly, unsure of whether to follow or to stay put. She kept her gaze fixed on the spot where he had vanished into the fog. She was left with the decision to stay, or follow..

Within moments, Valtir was surprised to reach a cliff face going almost directly up. He knew, however, that they were in a valley, so this was to be expected. He made a small mark in the ground and started walking to the left of the cliff face, sticking to it as close as possible. He could see within at least 3 metres in front of him, but there was no knowing what he might come across.

Freya stands and stretches, and decided to pace in circles. She hadnt decided what to do, she hadnt been told to follow, but she hadnt been told to stay either, with a slight smirk she carves a cross into the ground and then walks in the direction which Valtir had gone.

Out of nowhere, a loud, aggressive roar sounded close by. Valtir stumbled, not being able to tell where it was coming from in the fog. Suddenly there was a thud, and Valtir turned to see a large black arrow protruding from the ground, not two metres from his foot.

Having heard the roar, Freya instinctively reached for her bow, notching an arrow and holding it ready, she kept walking, but at a slightly slower pace, since she couldn't rely on sight, she relied on her hearing as she continued forward.
