Races of the Trans-Space Coalition

*Note: This has been hyperlinked into the first post*

Well, you already know that humanity and the spherids are major parts of it, but what about the other races?

Remember, the following are not all that there is. You're allowed to add your own, kinda like
what Okami did in this hyperlinked post. PM your ideas to me and I'll add them to this post.

Scielto
: Their name derrives from the Italian words "Cielo" and "Scelto", meaning "Sky" and "Chosen". The name originates from an old creation myth where they were chosen by the heavens to bring their people to a "shining destiny", although like most races, they are no longer religious. They are a race of tall bird-like creatures, having two pairs of wings and strong taloned feet. One of these wing-pairs functions more for flight and while the other can help, it's used more for manipulating the world around them. They are mostly covered in feathers and have great eyesight. Their faces, while they still have beaks, aren't quite as long or large than if you took a real bird and made it the size of one of them. While they are usually seen as a race, they have taken in various other bird-races into their society as well.

The culture of these creatures is on one hand very expressive, free-spirited, and quite prideful, yet on the other very rigid. They have often very rigidly defined pecking orders that determine your place in society, a large part of which involves climbing up said order. This grows increasingly complex when you take into account public opinion, job opportunities, established families and houses, their honor system and so on. They have two differnet language types; a sort of bestial one comprised of sounds such as squawks and chirps, and a written/spoken one, which in literary form compromises of various curvy shapes with a slight hieroglyphic appearence, and in spoken form, flows very well and has very vivid sounding vowels. You could say it's like Italian mixed in with bits of cantonese and arabian.

Tierrodan:
These creatures seem to be made of purely of rock, although in reality, they are a race of moss-like plant creatures that develop a strong shell to protect themselves in. They are able to survive dismemberment and getting their heads blown off quite easily due to their ability to shift their internal organs around, but their mossy insides are easily damaged if you get them exposed and they tend to have various important vital organs that are sometimes signified by noticeable physical growths on the shell. They can assume a variety of shapes, including some versions where limbs can float around disconnectedly, and change their apeparence over their lifetime. When they speak, their voices tend to seemingly reverbrate within themselves, and they generally sound powerful and capable of great authority. They are normally quite strong but have poor regeneration. Their faces tend to be oddly organic like in their appearence. Their eyes often looking like slot-holes with sometimes fleshy organic organs or crystal-like shapes (or even visor-like eye-organ-equivalents), and their mouths often are more plant-based than the rest of their organs, although they may sometimes have crushing stone mouth-parts. Sometimes they do not have noses, uses other ways to sense smell, such as simply breathing it in, analyzing it with special hairs on various parts of their body, or absorbing it into special parts of their stony bodies for inspection.

Tierrodan culture is made up of tribes and ruled by a council made of the heads of the 15 most powerful of them. Many of them have a lot of tribal government run businesses and militaries and actively compete with one another, although any violence is kept discrete and non-lethal. They tend to be highly nomadic and while they do settle on a few worlds, they only really see their core originating home worlds as permanent bases. Quite a few often split off and form tribes of their own or simply don't bother with the tribal politics and just go solo. They are renowned for being strong, if somewhat forceful, businessmen, leaders, politcians, and sometimes mercenaries, although that occupation is looked upon unfavourably by most of the older generation and leaders of their kind. Their spoken language is very sharp sounding; and often sounds like a bunch of jagged noises of varying sonic qualities (tone, pitch, etc.), with a words sometimes gaining double meanings based on particular pronounciation using specialized organs. Their written language features characters that all have double-meanings and each word is composed of two interlocking symbols. It is very hard to understand, yet once learned, can be read absurdly fast.

Krydeonin:
Derrived off two Greek words that mean "frost" and "guardian". They are a race of four armed mammals with four arms and sharp, austere faces. All of their arms are of equal length and tend to end in five-fingered hands with retractable claws. Their body-covering fur looks almost like quills, although they cannot sting. They have a some organ redundancies and stand quite tall, often being the taller species in a room. Their great strength, natural adaptations (powerful claws and jaws, high strength, great endurance, good sense of smell and so on) and natural survival instincts come from living on a cold world of scarce resources and fearsome predators and raiders.

Their society is very tight knit and puts and despite their savage appearence, they are good technicians and mechanics. While their tech is rather simply made, it can be built upon and modified to be rather advanced. They tend to put an emphasis on great craftsmanship and reliablility with their creations. Their culture puts a huge deal on cooperation and mutual gain, although often within the boundaries of the ethnicities of their race. Some may call them discriminatory, but often it's simply a sort of custom to let others tend to their own, while they tend to the ones most immediately important to them. Their language is oddly similar in terms of pronounciation to human ones such as German and English, and tends to have a very large vocabulary of single word bases that are modified to create variations on a meaning usually. The written format uses many angled and often sectioned off words, causing it to look like a bunch of roughly made rune-inscriptions put into a line with large spaces inbetween them.

Osvetlovan:
Based off a Czech word which means "illuminant", this race ressembles a mixture between the turians from the Mass Effect series and the Protoss from the Starcraft games. Their general bodies are shaped like protoss ones, yet the paticular details of it have that armoured turian feel to them. They tend to be moderately tall, not quite as tall as a Krydeonian, but moreso than a human. They also have very long lifespans. While they are not necessarily casters, their bodies are more easy to modify or adapt to channeling energy and there are cases where vital fluids and certain parts of their bodies had become energy based.

Their society is run by a various rulers in a pseudo-autocracy/oligarchy, with a strong notion of higher and lower classes. This is seen by backwardist by quite a few, but many also see their society as a surprisingly successful one, with highly organized government/royalty-run workforces and a strong sense of racial unity. Being in a commanding position is said to be the highest honor in their society, along with finding enlightenment in expanding or working for the betterment of the ruling powers. Their spoken language is similar to french and russian, often sounding very smooth or exotic. The written one tends to ressemble russian letters given a sense of arabic wavy-ness.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

My brain hurts.

Post in progress though...

Who is in my team? Any players aiding in the raising hell distraction wanna interact for a couple posts?

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I'm thinking Biggs would have a fair share other Funebrarans with her, providing fire support, and perhaps some heavy weapons specialistis or juggernaut-like ones. When she broke in, the others came in with her to back her up, but they'd be under the most fire now. Being so huge, at least one of pulse-caster turrets would probably shift its attention towards Biggs and his strike force, which would number the most presumably and be the best suited to a savage assault.

I'm thinking Fluffy could help, but I've kind of got an idea in mind for her. It will help though. Arsenal's forces could also assist. And I imagine if Karsikan comes back, he'll surely raise some hell. Hell, maybe even Okami could send in some friendly forces, covertly of course.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I'll post something and call for some backup then, and whoever is interested can charge to my rescue. (Has weird mental image of Claire as the neko princess rescuing the gnarly old centipede dragon... *shakes head frantically*) but it might have to wait til morning. Today has been epically exhausting.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Personally, when I think about it, I see the pulse-caster turret or turrets as only just having started firing, and not terribly accurately as well; your character might be huge, but he's not a mecha right? At the same time, its main gun wasn't designed to shoot at infantry targets as well, although its multiple sub-weapon systems are more appropriate for that and various other targets, like aircraft.

I can imagine that your character might decide to pull a charge and smash up the turrets a bit. How big is he anyways? Like 25 feet tall?

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I'll go to help Biggs unless something else goes on for me. At the moment, Claire's being interrogated by Ric's character. Working on a post but I'm having a hard time thinking of much to write. o.o

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Aren't you supposed to be looking for the General? Biggs is part of the assault force, isn't he?

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Hmmmmm, Seiji's last post is kinda cool, but it feels a bit...odd if the Pulse Caster Turrets, who I kinda had down as these massive, monstrous, gun-fortresses, go down that quickly O___o

As for Claire, I imagine perhaps Sorvaille (and maybe a few of their squad) will step in to deal with Sefu while Claire and the remainders help to locate Markarov.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Yessir. I just can't think of a good post is all. xD; One of those times where I know exactly what I want to say but can't put it all into some nice, post-worthy words.

EDIT: And thank you Irae, that helps. I now have more to add. 8D

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I need someone to designate the targets.

Sure, cluster munitions detonate over a target but you want accurate saturation. Having all those super heated submunitions is moot if they don't land on the intended target.

AD ENDUM: I think any unit attacking those turrets is supposed to suffer Mass Casualties.

NOTE: In the United States Armed Forces more than three casualties is considered Mass Casualties.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

*scratches chin*
*lightbulb appears above head*
*glances at Claire*
*goes to make a post after clearing something up with Seiji. Or trying to at least*

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

YOU DID, BRO. FEELS GOOD.

Ima work on a post now, gonna fire off some combat orders at you folks.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Well, you've got your orders now, Seiji, Arsenal, and Fluffy. Get going and make Lunatic_AI's life a bit easier!

ALSO WHY IS SOME OF MY TEXT IN ITALICS SUDDENLY WHEN I DID NOT SET IT TO ITALICS?

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

No idea...

I'll be swapping from First Person narration to Third soon.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I think somebody somewhere left a tag open...

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Name: Mentor Cygnus

Species: Antares Eta, Slang: Scalies. The Antares Eta are reptilian, with a bone structure that differs slightly from that of humans in which their wrist bones pivot off one bone rather than two, and their ribcages are resemble "latticework". Their lifespans tend to be longer than humans. Unlike Earth reptiles, they are warm blooded, having a body temperature slightly higher then that of humans, although they have very great difficulty operating in cold environment.

Age: N/A.

Occupation: A Liberated Slave.

Appearance:
lizard_man_warrior.jpg

Special Abilities: The Antares Eta have claws on their fingers and toes capable of acting as weapons. They also have very sharp teeth and what is referred to as a "tail stump", which is probably the atrophied remains of a tail lost during evolution. They are also stealthy and have a instinctive urge to fight if trapped. They can lift 3x their own body mass. Large teeth also make for a powerful deterrent.

Weapons: Mentor carries an ancient bolt action shot gun; about the only weapons that can be found on his home world due to the Peace Movement.

History: A former slave that was used as a warrior for well over 50 years. He recently was granted freedom when a human ship defeated an Antares Etain ship that flew into a human controlled territory. Over all, Mentor is friendly but socially awkward. He sometimes absent mildly speaks in the 3rd person and it seems that English is a hard language for him to pick up on. He is a lapsed vegetarian because he likes eating the fish found in the seas of his home world Eta. Mentor often puts his hands in pockets because he is afraid of whom may show up behind him. He also seems to be only active at night or in darkened spaces.

I dunno, but you see my signature? On the computer, it is white. On my phone, it is purple. Do you know what the Color Tag says it is? BRIGHT GREEN.

But i will be catching up on my posts tonight I have a REAL COMPUTER all to myself. *sobs in joy* It's the first time in three months I have gotten more than maybe two minutes on a computer to do something other than pay a bill.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I see it as purple on my screen.
