As the creature had already sustained a number of wounds from bullets, it had already developed an immunity to that type of weapon. However, as the group targeted its various eyes, each was forced to close to defend against the unending storm of bullets. Even with its numerous eyes, soon a large enough amount had been forced closed, allowing the group to try to run.
With a deafening howl, the abomination's squid-like tentacles began to contract. It was preparing to lash out at the group, and perhaps swipe across the entire room, which would leave very little room to evade. But just, then...
Its eyes were targeted once again, and an inhuman screech echoed throughout the room. It didn't seem to be particularly injured, but once again, it couldn't see. The creature forced its eyes wide open, intent on hunting down and ending the fools who'd dared touch upon its powerful body. Its body lowered, seemingly ready to pounce.
And then finally, the bullets that had been deflected not once, but twice, hit their marks. As Crawler had been intentionally trying to keep its eyes open just then, it was too slow to close them this time. The bullets burrowed themselves into the monster, but unlike before, they didn't come flying back out.
Blood poured out from its innumerable eye sockets, the floor beneath it being painted a bloody crimson. Tattletale, Skitter, and the rest put their hands over their ears as Crawler cried out in pain, a few of the bugs Skitter controlled even dying right on the spot.
"How the fuck-" Regent started, turning around and pausing for a second before the one who had been making a fog of darkness grabbed him by the collar of his Renaissance outfit and began to drag him out the double doors.
And the group made it out of Bonesaw's chambers. Fortunately, Crawler had been halted by its pain, and it didn't look like they were being followed. Not as far as anyone could tell, at least. Also, it seemed that at some point a gigantic beetle had picked up the decapitated Ruby's body, as Mercury had suggested. Tattletale had agreed that doing research on an experimented body could prove helpful, and it appeared that she'd communicated that to Skitter at some point.
Also, a beetle that stood at 6 feet tall had joined them at some point, apparently. Some of the more keen probably would've seen it fly in during the chaos of the escape from Crawler. Otherwise, they were in for a big surprise whenever they noticed it.
Once they were out, a group of three enormous dogs were waiting for them. The hounds seemed to be the size of buses, bone and flesh jutting out of them seemingly at random. On them rode a muscular woman wearing a mask, only barely recognizable as a woman.
"Who the fuck are these people? I thought we were just going for fucking Imp, not all these assholes. I don't want their filthy hands on my dogs."
"They'll help us, okay Bitch? We don't have the firepower to tangle with the Slaughterhouse 9 right now, so we're just gonna have to pull a few strings. Trust me."
The dog girl and Tattletale glared at each other for a few moments. It was hard to tell Bitch's expression from behind her mask, but Tattletale merely had a slight grin plastered on her face. Eventually, Bitch seemed to give up, turning back around on the dog she was mounted on.
"Thanks," Tattletale's smile grew wider as she nodded at Bitch.
"Protectorate calls her Hellhound, but don't call her that. She hates it. Just call her Bitch. Everyone cool with that? Yeah? Then let's get going!"
Signaling to everyone to pile on, there were three dogs to get on. Once everyone got situated, the oversized hounds would begin to run off, sticking together like a pack. They ran quickly, making it extremely difficult to talk on the way to wherever it was they were given the wind blasting in their faces. Eventually, they'd find their way to a deserted warehouse. There were a group of small children in a corner, as well as a few other homeless people moving in and out of the area.
The group began to descend from the dogs, and as though acting as the group leader, Tattletale held her hands behind her back and began to speak.
"So, it's about high time for introductions, don't you guys think? Call us the Undersiders. One with the dogs is Bitch, bug girl here is Skitter, the one who won't stop making it dark, you can stop that by the way, is Grue, fancy pants here is Regent, the one who got locked up with you is Imp, and last but not least, call me Tattletale." She gave them a wink, and Grue's darkness began to recede as his body began to give off less and less of it. Underneath the darkness was a large man wearing a helmet shaped like a skull and a motorcycle jacket. "We did rescue you guys, so you could at least return this much, right?"
Around then, the oversized beetle finally caught up as well, dropping the crude remains off to the side.
