Twilight Update
"Out of Desperation"
Max was climbing out of the pool, laughing. Though the mood around the pool had fluctuated, at least Max had felt she had a good time. She climbed out on to the tiled floor, dripping wet, making a run for one of the towels. They were going to leave a huge mess, but frankly, Max couldn't have cared less at the moment.
"You guys..." said the girl, giggling and drying her hair.
"You guys! I really... have to thank you. I really don't have many friends here, and Tommy, well..." The girl lowered the towel, her face taking on a gloomy expression.
"It doesn't matter. I've had... a rough few weeks, so this really helped."
Max began to eagerly put on her clothes, looking ready to get down to business now. She grabbed her camera and cradled it.
"You guys wanted to know about Mark Jefferson? I'll tell you everything I know... And I mean everything. It's the least I can do for what you've done. Meet me on the roof of the dorms in, like, fifteen minutes. We'll have it to ourselves."
Smiling one last time, Max made a break for the exit, though not before turning around and snapping a picture of the scene. It was a memory she wanted to hold on to.
When Max was gone, Monomi came in soon after, somehow showing up seemingly out of nowhere.
"I'm... so glad everyone managed to have some fun! If you can still maintain hope, then even Monokuma can't stop you! But... are you making sure to find out about the mystery? We wouldn't want him to be mad... Who was that girl, anyway? She said to meet you in fifteen minutes... Monomi will make sure you guys are right on time!"

In the dorms, Diana reached out to Stiles to stop him from running off after Tommy, but Jack caused her to pause. She turned to him with her hands raised in a shrug.
"How would I know? I don't think we learned anything by coming here. Look, we should get Stiles and--"
A shrill alarm cut through what Diana was saying, echoing through the dormitories. If Diana had to guess, it was the fire alarm.
"Go, go!" she yelled over the noise, running back to catch up to Stiles and grab him by the arm.
" I don't think I'm even supposed to be in the boy's dorms!"
She escorted Stiles outside, while Mike escorted Jack, Rant, and Yurick. The group fell in with the crowd of students leaving the dormitories. As they exited out on to the front lawn, Diana looked around wildly for Victoria.
"Victoria?!"
As it was the time when both Max and Bullet had told the various groups to meet up, the rest of the students were on their way to the dormitories, only to encounter the crowd waiting outside.
"Oh, no... there's so many people!" Monomi held up her hands, trying to make herself look bigger.
"Don't lose Monomi!!" The little rabbit started bouncing off students, unnoticed as their attention was pulled upward toward the roof of the dormitories.
Before anyone realized what was happening, someone was dropping from the roof.
The body abruptly stopped twenty feet from the top, suspended in mid-air by a rope tied around their neck. It took only a second for the students below to break out into screams and cries. There was mass panic on the grass as everyone jumped into a flurry of motion. Some students went running, while some cell phones were pulled out to make calls and snap pictures. Not a one had seen such an awful sight in their life, and so soon after the death of a beloved teacher.
"What in the--" Jude had arrived, gravitating toward the people he knew. He pointed up to the roof.
"Go! We have to get up there!"
Jude charged, moving fast no matter who was following. He didn't know the area, so he found himself lingering at the dorms common room area, but Victoria was running down the hall to meet him.
"What's going on?!" she cried, to which Jude had to explain the grim situation. Without any emotion, Victoria could only point toward the stairs. Jude only took a few steps before he gestured for her to follow, ushering her to lead him.
Victoria led the group up to the top floor, where they ran into the principal running up from the opposite staircase. He nodded to the group before joining them out on the roof, where they found the rope tied around an air-conditioning unit. The principal pulled out a knife to cut the rope, but Jude yelled for him not to do it.
"That would be a very bad idea! Pull!"
It wasn't long before the body was pulled up to the roof, then revealed to be
Maxine Caulfield.
Victoria shrank away from the body, shuddering in horror.
"Max?! N-No! Max, no! Oh my god, no!" Victoria backed up into a wall, where her legs gave out on her and she slid to the ground. Her body shook, wracked with sobs.
"The rope, the fall... her neck was snapped. I'm surprised she... This... c-could have been much worse."
"...!"
Kyoko also let out a small gasp, having to cover her mouth upon practically instinct like perhaps some of the other people around were doing. Damn, that girl was probably their best chance at getting the information regarding the teacher's death... But of course, most importantly, another life was unfortunately extinguished. A young one, a girl so full of life and energy.
Unforgivable. She could almost feel her heart clench as tightly as her fist, but she had to keep a cool head no matter what. She couldn't afford to look weak, to look vulnerable.
Principal Klim was at a loss for words.
"What do I do...?"
"I know!"
Monokuma was on the scene, holding his stubby arms in the air. "This is a body discovery! A crime scene!" Monokuma imitated a noise that sounded like police sirens. "As the town sheriff, I'm declaring this a case for my forensics team!"
As though it were like clockwork, the sound of Monokuma imitating police sirens would be replaced by the distant sound of actual sirens down below, a police car at the front seen stopping at the front entrance.
Stepping out of the car, a man, features somewhat obscured by the hat he was wearing, would give a brief glance to the commotion coming from upstairs. As though grasping the severity of the situation, he would waltz inside, making his way up the stairs of the school until reaching the roof where everyone else would be located, speaking to let himself be known.
"Alright, alright, clear the area! Don't get too close to the body! This is a crime scene and we can't have any risk of contaminating potential evidence," the man said, approaching the scene and pulling out what looked to be a sort of badge.
"My name is Detective Cole Phelps, and I received an anonymous call that there'd been a murder here," he stated matter-of-factly, introducing himself to the so-called forensics team,
"Looks like it wasn't just a prank call after all."
"Though the Upupu laughing and the bear puns sure made it seem like it."
"Please remain calm and just cooperate. Now... You people," Phelps would say, pointing to Kyoko and the rest of the group,
"You all don't exactly look like students here, so please state your name and business, miss..."
"Kyoko Kirigiri. As for these people, they are my... associates. We're a..." Kyoko cleared her throat,
"... forensics team. We happened to be investigating an unrelated death that had occurred here sometime before... before this happened."
"..."
Detective Phelps glanced at Corrin, then at Darv, then at Tharja, then at Poison, then at Wanda, then at Honda, among several others who might have stuck out, and bit his lip, giving Kyoko "the look." For some reason, it didn't seem like he even noticed Monokuma.
"... I see," Cole could only say.
"Well... In any case, you wouldn't happen to have identification, would you?"
"... Ask Monokuma."
"... I'm sorry, who...?"
Monokuma cleared his throat.
...
"... I'll take my chances," Cole said upon spotting the little bear, and then diverting his gaze back to Kyoko and the group,
"Let's get to work then. What have I got to lose anyway? See me if any one of you find anything worth noting. Even if you think it's so inane, it could be the deciding factor. Alright?"
"I... I will leave this to the investigators." Klim stood to his feet, nervously dusting off his clothing.
"I will leave you access to... Miss Caulfield's room. Please excuse me, I need to take care of the students."
And thus, let the investigation begin.
