Dr. Aaron Fletcher has developed a vaccine for Z. gondii, but before he can get in contact with people who can take it further, disaster strikes, and the Fletcher home is overrun. Desperate to salvage his cure, and, possibly, the world, he injects the vaccine into the nearest living thing he can find, his late wife's service dog, Hero. Instructing his children to get Hero to Washington at ALL COSTS, he sacrifices himself to provide their escape. The two teenagers flee with Hero, determined to make the trip from West Texas to Washington DC to honor their father's sacrifice. Along the way, they will meet new survivors, both friendly and unfriendly, skilled and unskilled, and fight to survive long enough to save the world. At some point, the group will find themselves in a pickle that looks very dire. At the last moment, they are rescued by another group of survivors, and escorted to their home, Impact Point, a walled-off community that seems incredibly safe and appealing... but there is a darkness there that is not at first seen... how will our survivors react when the people who once helped them seem to now want to do exactly the opposite?

Unlike most zombie plots, the Z. gondii zombies are not the result of a virus, but, rather, a brain-attacking parasite. It is estimated that 30% - 50% of the human population are already carriers of T. gondii, which is spread largely in part by cats, pigs, sheep, and other livestock. Post-vaccination, anyone who did not carry the parasite was unaffected. However, those who did harbor T. gondii within their system, and were exposed to the vaccine, are a part of "Group X" - the original "zombies".

Contrary to popular belief, the Z. gondii zombies are not undead, and the dead can not be resurrected by the parasite. Once the human body dies, it is dead. While the corpse (if infected while alive) can still be a carrier for disease for up to 72 hours after death, there is no risk of anyone who dies being "reborn" as a zombie. The parasite, that lives in the brain, relies on the human body to keep it alive. If the body dies, the parasite dies as well.
How is it spread?:
Toxoplasma gondii AKA T. gondii (the original parasite) is spread via under cooked contaminated meat, unwashed contaminated fruits & vegetables, and contaminated water, soil, and cat litter coming into contact with the eyes, nose or mouth.

Zaraplasma gondii AKA Z. gondii (the mutated parasite) is spread from mammal to mammal via bodily fluids, including blood, saliva, ejaculatory excretions, and excrement of both solid and liquid varieties.

In depth symptoms:
24 hours after the infection, the host will experience mild, cold or flu-like symptoms, including headaches, stuffy/runny nose, congestion, sore throat and cough. If the infection was obtained by a bite, the site may grow red, irritated, and inflamed.

36 hours after the infection, in addition to the symptoms above growing worse, swollen lymph nodes will develop, along with a sore throat that progressively worsens and may inhibit breathing via compression of the trachea caused by the swelling.

48 hours after the infection, you will begin to experience memory loss, both short and long term, and blinding, crippling migraines.

60 hours after the infection, the host will lose all pain receptors in the body. Both a blessing and a curse, as the fits of blind rage that follow often involve the host being injured in some way or another.

72 hours after the infection, the host has lost all memory and the parasite is in complete control.

After the 72 hour timeframe, the human host is now only that, a host. All cognitive function has ceased, and, essentially, the "person" inside the body is gone. There are no memories, no thoughts, only primal instincts and rage, the urge to kill, and to eat, any living thing that crosses its path (though the parasites seem to somehow recognize other host-bodies, and leave them be). Any mammal can be infected with Z. gondii, although only those with physical attributes and digestive tracts suited for hunting and eating meat typically survive the infection, as any inclination to eat other organic material disappears once infected. As a result, natural carnivores are often hosts of Z. gondii. Birds, fish, invertebrates, reptiles, bugs, and amphibians seem to be unaffected by Z. gondii, and zombies do not actively hunt these creatures.[/spoili]

2.) Do not control, seriously injure, or kill other players' characters without their express permission.
3.) Two or three paragraphs per post are preferred, but as long as it's enough for people to reply to, anything that's at least a paragraph is fine. Try to do your best with spelling/grammar, though we understand mistakes happen.
4.) Be realistic in combat situations. Do not godmode, the odds are, your character led a normal, conflict-free life before the apocalypse, they can not just magically be expert fighters. If you have a certain skill, please explain how and why in your background and, again, BE REALISTIC.
5.) This RP is rated Mature only because of the violence, death, and dark themes of an apocalyptic plot. Romance between adult characters (WITH ADULT PLAYERS) is acceptable, but this is NOT a smut RP, keep it in your pants or take it to PM. No one wants to read five paragraphs of romance every post in a zombie roleplay.

Gender: Female

Appearances: Bobbie is a tall young woman, standing 5'7, almost 5'8. Though, she mostly appears so tall because of her thin,slim build with slight curves here and there, and long limbs. She only weighs about 121 lbs. Her complexion is slightly tan, and definitely not flawless. Though she has no tattoos and only two piercings on her ears. She has a particularly noticeable scar on her stomach. And her eyes almost almond shaped,but not quite, the hue of them are green. Then comes her hair that's always kept short and the color brown.

Personality: Bobbie could be described as a sarcastic bitch. But she really isn't a bitch - at least. Sure she appears to be standoffish but she is, however, sarcastic. Sarcasm always seems to be her only defense. And most of the time she prefers to stay quiet, especially around strangers. When she does open her mouth she has a rather sharp tongue and comes off as rude, harsh, unkind and a downer. It only comes out that way because she's a realist, a practical person, and extremely honest. But if you hang around her long enough, you'll find she's an actually sweet person who smiles around the right people and teasing. Most of the time she's always concerned about those she's closest too and will risk many things for them. And she can say nice things too, she just has a hard time doing so. She's too much of a tough chick to always be so kind. And she's not very trusting towards others either. And she can get easily annoyed, but she doesn't act on her anger or annoyance all the time. She has a pretty controlled temper for the most part. Though, she might get back at the person in an underhanded and devious way. Noticeably, she is confident in herself and skills as well. Which makes her adventurous and tenacious. The woman is strong-willed.

History: Bobbie's was born in Moscow Russia, to a Russian mother and American father. She was their second child after her older brother. The family was an estranged one. Her parents never liked to be around one another,they always argued when they were. So, she grew to rely on her brother and hung around him and his friends. This fact could contribute to why she became a tomboy. Her mother wanted her to be more girly but gave up eventually. In school, she was often picked on with stereotypes, being called a boy or gay. Though none of them were true, the bullying only hardened her.

She was around ten when her father started taking her and her brother out hunting. He thought it was a good skill to have. Her mother could not stand this idea, but she never stopped him,it wasn't in her.
Eventually, her mother ran off with some guy when she was around twelve. After that, her brother grew distant from her, and he father tried to pay more attention to his children and take care of them. They moved to the states, his home.

Of course being foreign, and the way she was, she was still bullied in school. But gained a friend or two. She started doing better in school and tried to be moe adventurous in hobbies and other things. She continued hunting with her father, learned self-defense and found an interest in plants.

Though, she decided she wanted to be a botanist or a herbalist. Just someone who wanted to work with plants in general! She started studying at a young age,and the more time passed, the more distant she grew from her brother who got into more and more trouble and grew closer to her father.

It was the night that she received her college acceptance letter when she became aware of the outbreak. Her father had shot an infected neighbor, it was enough to freak her out. But he got her to calm down good enough to get her ready and packed to leave. Of course, her brother was still out causing trouble,so they had to find him before going on their way.

And when they did, he was being attacked. Her father saved him but lost his life at the cost. Ever since she and her brother have been traveling together, but she refuses to be friendly with him.

And even worst, when they were running from zombies they were separated.

Traits: Intelligent, Rude, Observant, Opinionated, Calm, Sarcastic, Secretive, Caring, Arrogant.
History: Toby is the older brother of Bobbie. He was a kind and smart child,but once his mother left his family he hardened and grew distant. When moving into the states, he started to get into a ton of trouble. He let his grades drop to try in fit in with the cool and fun kids. Though, when he saw he might be heading to a community college he tried to clean up his act. And it worked for a while, he got into a good college to be a doctor. Of course, the college parties and fun life got to him and he eventually fell back into old habits. But it was when his father died saving his life did he finally matured up for himself and his sister.
Skills; He could have been a doctor,but never got that far. Fortunately, he does have some medical skills. And he can shoot a gun, he had learned from his father. Lastly, he is smart and observant, but he's mostly a jerk.
