Atlantic City is a resort city on New Jersey's Atlantic coast that's known for its many casinos, wide beaches and iconic Boardwalk. Established in the 1800s as a health resort, today the city is dotted with glitzy high-rise hotels and nightclubs. In addition to gambling at slot machines and table games, the casinos offer spa treatments, performances by famous comedy and music acts, and high-end shopping.

Grady Murtaugh aka Corvus

It was with reluctance that Grady agreed to the private jet. He made arrangements for a suite of rooms for the three of them and with an extra room just in case. There was a rental car waiting at the airport, a largish Mercedes, black, unlikely to stick out much in Atlantic city. He had packed for several days, in a style that seemed well to do casual. He didn't wear these often.

upload_2017-8-15_0-40-27.png

He carried his magnificent cane, carved and engraved and inlaid by Lugh himself as a gift. He had a matching set of boots and belt also decorated by pure silver thread. He kept himself together mostly by concentrating on being Grady and not being Corvus. He wanted very much to burst, to tear the place down and rip Edward Nygma limb from limb.

Deeper down, he wanted also to know why Ozcorp's people.. Madam Dillard was there. Nygma would know. Since his second mission out of three, the Gotham riots he had been plagued by doubt. Nygma had helped put it there. This was in a way a very personal demon for him. He had left a very detailed message for his friend, the young woman who had first joined his company and helped further trained him in martial arts. So she might join him here. She too had an axe to grind with Riddler.

He sent pictures to Stephanie and Lincoln of all the people who had worked with Riddler at the riot. It seemed likely that some of them might be here. He must not forget Arcade, in some ways far more dangerous with his murderous little games. He got to the room, sending a message to Raylene.

{{ " We are here, in a suite. It will be nice to see you again. "}}

For a moment he stared at Alfred's communicator, he sighed deeply and ignored it for now. He sent another message to Doll.

{{ "In Atlantic city for self therapy, hope you are well, love Grady"}}

"Wow you are really good at that game." A voice from behind Nara called. Having been playing a arcade game on the boardwalk the Irken had finally figured them out, and had found them to be easy. Turning her head she stared "Are they meant to be hard?" She asked. The kid shrugged "I guess not." He responded before just walking off. Brushing the kid off Nara went back to what she was doing. The game wasn't hard, it wasn't hard at all. Soon she found herself hating the thing she was playing so much that she ended up spending the entirety of the next two hours beating the entire game in one life.

The arcade game by the time the Irken was finished with it was sufficiently battered. The attendants being unaware of the Irkens partial destruction of the game. Sufficiently happy with not only beating the game but also destroying it the Irken turned its sights of the larger of the buildings looming all across the area. A cat whipped in front of Nara as the woman followed the cat. Ending up in the Royal Flush casino Nara looked at the cat. Words weren't spoken as the cat embarked upon a recon of the building as the woman stood near the front door.

Lincoln was trying to figure out how to open his suitcase....without everything popping out of it. To put it mildly, he had packed all the clothing he owned for this particular missions as he wasn't sure what was best. He had packed a suit, his hoodies, a leather jacket, about seven different pair of pants, all his unmentionables, seven to ten shirts and some extra things... he also had some extra medical supplies. To say he had fit his entire life in a suitcase was the understatement of the century. To make himself look suspicious to Riddler, he was wearing a different outfit than he had before.

" So, what exactly is our plan here?" He asked, much rather focusing on that then trying to figure out how he was going to open his suitcase.

"Excuse me little guy, but neither pets or people under 21 are allowed in here. It's a casino, a place for grownups to play. I'll send someone for your cat, but you can't come in here, K?"

She said it sweetly but a preliminary analysis showed that this creature's skin was made of ultra-dense carbon, 'diamond' was the Earth word. Enter Roxanne Washington, aka Bling, who was working the door as a bouncer. Roxanne went to one knee.

"What's your name, and what's your cat's name? I want to get on my radio so I can tell my friends to bring your cat back and it'd help if we knew it's name right? I'm Roxanne, but some people call me Bling!"

Rayleen had just sent an emoticon as a reply and added "working, off at 8" as a second message a few moments later.

She did, however, email him info on the owners, and a few paranorms who worked at the Royal Flush, including Roxanne aka Bling.

Grady had a few options now. As far as Rayleen knew, Riddler and Arcade weren't at the casino at the moment, but she suspected they were still in town.

"Twenty One...." Nara repeated several times over in her head. Twenty one what?! Surely she must be twenty one something. All her averages were nearly at the 100 percentage rating. There was no reason to be twenty one....unless. The SIR units analysis of the conversation as well as the creature was extensive. Rethinking her approach she quickly snapped her hand down to her 'cat'.

The SIR unit produced a Passport. Irken numbers deciphering down into letters before forming completely into her hand. With that the creature suddenly bounded off and out the door the moment it opened. Now alone she held the object out in her hand. Still comprising itself she held onto it for a brief second before she felt it heat up a little and let go. "Don't worry its name is Bazzle and it will be back. I think." Nara spoke. The information stream continued despite the distance. Images and information regarding gambling began to stream across her ocular implants.

Absorbing the information like a sponge Nara blinked once in nearly three minutes as if in a stupor. "I apologize, I would really like to play roulette. Apparently, there are a lot of choices." Nara said confidently. A growing internal grin slowly manifesting itself on the outside. "There is alot of currency here isn't there?" Nara asked straight faced suddenly. Trying to use the information the Invader was struggling to apply the personality characteristics of a gambler to the current situation.

The struggle finally ended when the Irken sighed. "Nevermind, do I need to do anything else or am I barred from this establishment because I am not Twenty One enough. Is that a code word?" The Irken asked attempting to be subtle.

There was a bit of a holdup on Lilly's flight; even in business class, some holdups were inevitable. It felt strange to visit Atlantic City, after many years of her late father mentioning taking her there some time, not exactly bad, but not good either... Considering the sorts of "self indulging" he had likely done in the area.

On the other hand, she wasn't here on any sort of vacation. Something here stank... Well, more than it usually did. She got a tip about a select couple of rogues sticking their nose around this particular casino; the Riddler, and Arcade.

It was uncertain what exactly they wanted, nor why they had decided to take over the Royal Flush Casino in particular, but nonetheless... It was her duty to break things up before they got out of hand.

Thus, she eventually found herself in front of her destination taking a few moments to soak in the seaside city air... And then, she entered, keeping a low profile as she did so, trying to seek out familiar faces amongst the masses. Soon enough, she zeroed in on Grady, and a few others that seemed to have gathered around.

Quickly making sure there were no eavesdroppers in earshot or anything, she looked around for a moment, making sure the coast was clear before she spoke.

"Any intel?" She asked, cocking a brow.

It seemed that she didn't have many contacts in the area, but... If all else failed, she could always get a bit... Persuasive; a bit of interrogation here, a little blunt force trauma for the elements that involved a bit of the underworld could reveal alot more than gathering information here could...

Roxanne laughed. "No, it's not a code word, it's an age. You see children aren't allowed in the casino. We check ID so that no one too young gets in. So yes, you're Twenty One enough."
She grinned. This was one she could re-tell. The guys would love the story of the funny French woman who asked if she was Twenty One enough.

Bling motioned Nara in, allowing her to pass.

Grady gave Lincoln a healthy pat on the shoulder. Turning to talk to him.

"Thanks pal, you'll get the feel for this yet !"

He turns then to Lilly as she approaches in the hallway where the elevator let he and Lincoln out.

"Lilly ! Great to see you! I hope you got the tickets I left for you?"

"Yeah, some...The conundrum and his gamey pal were here, but aren't now. I have two others with me. Lincoln, this is Lilly, an old friend. Lilly this is Lincoln, a good guy to have in a pinch. Somewhere Stephany is hanging about too. Lilly, our contact will be back at 8 pm. She works here at the casino. Lincoln and I were going to take some time to see the sights around town. Lincoln was surprised by the healthy pat on the shoulder, but he tried to not show it.

" I hope I do. It isn't easy, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth doing."

Lincoln awkwardly stood in the elevator as he watched the door and saw a new person. He was fine to see that.

Lincoln was silent for the brief moment, wondering how the two of them met, but he decided to not ask.

Lincoln awkwardly waved over to Lilly. It was nice to meet someone new besides Karolina and Grady. He had been on his own for so long he forgot how much he enjoyed working with a team. He wondered if Karolina's friends ever did find out about his friend. He would ask after they got back. " I am sure that the sights will be very insightful.... hopefully." he said, knowing that people talked and it was always important to listen.

Walking past the woman Nara's eyes were met with as many flashing lights as the Organic Sweep. For a split second the Irkens Combat Indoctrination almost kicked in, but the lights weren't being directed or focused. Next was the noise, the smell... lingering smoke. Was there a fire? Or did the humans in the vicinity enjoy carcinogenic sticks. Scoffing she turned and almost ran straight into a Slot Machine. Staring at the machine she looked up and down the row. People were playing them and paid literally zero attention to Nara.

The lack of focus and the lack of situational awareness those around her exhibited made this a prime location for an initial landing. Noting it in her head she sat down in the chair infront of the machine before beginning to pull, push and yank at any protruding objects. After a minute an older woman comes up and puts a quarter in the machine. "I've hit the jackpot, I hope you do to sweetie." The woman said before moving on. Nara wanted to grab the woman, but the machine buzzed to life and the connection between the woman and the machines activation snapped together. Emptying her pockets she didn't have any money in them.

"Bazzle, procure several forms of the United States Dollar. Return to my location upon task completion." With the orders wordlessly released Nara turned back to the machine, while active nothing was happening. Grabbing the massive lever she found that it was unlocked, upon pulling it down the machine activated. Lights flashed and the random number generator began to fire off. Blinking which was unnatural for her the Irken finally snapped her eyes away as the machine let out a chime and more of the object the woman put into the machine fell out.

Eyes glancing back and forth she scooped all the coins out like a starving animal. Moving several machines down she slid another quarter into the slot she watched the woman place one into. While different a large red button with the word PLAY made it easy for her to figure out. Hitting the button the machine came to life and the cycle began again, instead... this time the Invader was able to pull discrepancy from the random number generation.

Meanwhile... In the executive office with its view of the casino floor...

"Thank you for the heads-up Miss Washington. Yes, I have eyes on her now... We'll send a Ten to take over your post, please keep an eye on Miss Envahisseur. We'll ensure she keeps winning... At least until the DNA scan comes back. She's definitely not human or mutant." Jack Hart replied to Bling's call.

He turned to the Kree analysis device, which had started beeping the moment the Irken and it's robot had entered the casino. It was currently running a comparison with all known races, trying to find a match. The good thing is it wasn't one of the top ten - Kree, Skrull, Shi'ar, Xenomorph, Asgardian or even Sovereign could have posed a problem. Was this an exploratory mission or something less benign? Jack would soon find out. The others had scoffed at his insistence on installing the device - but it had paid off. Spending years away from Earth was finally providing some benefit.

Over at the hotel Grady and the others were at...

A sudden calm overtook everyone in the room, followed by a knock on the door.

"A little birdie told me you were here. Open up, sweets, I'm just here to deliver some news..."

A look through the peephole revealed that it was Meloncholy - supposedly in the employ of Rupert Thorne and also supposedly in Boston, waited there, carrying a small valise, dressed in her usual garish yellow.

At Grady's mention of tickets, Lilly quickly flashed the bunch she had brought with her; looks like she had indeed received them. Though she was quick to stow them away once that was made clear, being her cautious self. However, it looked like she did at least loosen up when the mention of seeing some sights, palming that cloth she had always tended to carry around.

"Sure. It isn't every day I get to visit a place like this." She said, smiling a little.

Granted, she wasn't as eager as she acted about the whole thing... She was itching to snoop around a little as the Argent Sentinel, but that was something she'd rather not speak about too openly in a place like this. As she prepared to say something to Lincoln as well, a knock on the door quickly interrupted her train of thought.

In a flash, her head whipped towards the door, and after taking a look through the door's peephole, and quickly backed up. It was someone working for Thorne, which meant they were likely dealing with a wildcard. She wasn't exactly going to greet them at gunpoint or anything, but nonetheless, she still kept a hand on her gun as she eyed the door.

"Thorne." She mouthed.

Well, not really Thorne himself, obviously, but she was trying to indicate that it was one of his lackeys... For the better or worse.

"Well enough, mostly the same. I believe I have met Lilly, but I don't think I got her name. Anyway, I'm here to deliver something to you."

She handed Grady the valise. Inside was information on the owners of the Royal Flush - mostly repeating what Rayleen had sent him. But there was something new.

The current alias of Arcade "Mr Edward Acra", and since he was an assassin his intended target. - Mariah Dillard. The paperwork also said that Miss Dillard was due to make an appearance at the Boys and Girls Club fundraiser to be held at the Royal Flush in three days time.

"Sometimes you just have to make some hard choices. I was the original plan, just be around her so he couldn't make the attempt, but when you showed up, Rupert decided he'd let you help. With a little consulting fee."

The last items in the valise were a Visa Black card ( which usually never has a limit of less than six figures ) and a note, scribbled by Mel but apparently dictated by Rupert.

"You know I will stop at nothing to protect my niece. Keep her safe. I could give a rat's ass about Dillard but the bad press Rayleen would get from an assassination attempt at her work would ruin her, not to mention the possibility of Rayleen coming to harm. Use that card for all expenses while here. Keep her safe."

Grady Murtaugh aka Corvus

After reading the material, Grady sits down in a chair with a shocked face. He hands the material to Lincoln. After a moment, he gathers his wits and starts to speak to Lilly.

" a couple of days back, a buddy of mine, who works at Arkham sent me a message saying the Riddler was busting inmates out of the asylum. So me and a few friends went to go see what was going on. We started working on things, doing pretty well for a bit when this Dillard woman showed up in her Helicopter with her ex con bodyguard. We had no idea what they were doing there in the middle of a breakout, so one of my friends tried to stop the helicopter from taking off. They shot her with a super powered rifle. "

He takes a deep breath before continuing.

"So now, to be put in a position to save either of their lives seems to be.... well.. one description would be ironic, another would be painful. "

"So if either of you have any opinions or advice, I would like to hear them."

"And Mel, can you leave the room for a moment please ? "

Lincoln Campbell

Lincoln was silent as he processed all the information that he had been given. It seemed that Arcade was to kill Mariah Dillard. Perhaps that was the reason that they had been at the prison. To kill the other woman. He paused musing it over. " As much as I want to hurt and hate the woman, we can't let her die. That's something I learned back during my SHIELD days, you have to protect everyone and try to find the situation that results in the least amount of casualities. As easy as it would be to let her die because she nearly killed Karo, we can't do it. It's our job to be the better people and protect her. We came here for the Riddler and Arcade, I don't think we should change our misison, even though the circumstances are horrid."
