Personality: Kirn as an individual is a friendly and kind soul. Whilst he is part quiet and introverted for the most part, that does not stop him from being there for someone who may be in need. He is quite the patient fellow, and it takes a lot to rile him up; even then, he has control over his emotions and will try to reason, use calm and cool words. If that doesn't work, he may resort to laying things straight before the other person. He doesn't like violence and will try to keep himself from even thinking vicious thoughts.
He cares deeply for most people and will take the time to learn about them. Being the quiet, friendly person he is, he's a good listener, giving his full attention to whoever is conversing with him. If someone has a problem, he'll try to find viable solutions, or at least show them positives in the solution. While optimistic, he is a realist as well. Life doesn't always go the way a person wants it to, and Kirn understands this.
Knowledge is something he likes to seek. He may not be the smartest or wittiest person around, so he isn't afraid to ask questions. However, he isn't nosy, and he won't poke his neb in other's businesses.
Weapon(s) and Attire:
- A three foot long staff
- Small shooting daggers and needles hidden on his person, at times coated with poison.
- Kirn's attire depends on where he is. In warmer climates he likes to wear loose pantaloon and sandals, topped with a headcloth. Where it's cooler, he will wear appropriate clothes, usually consisting of thicker shirt and pair of woolen pants. He will also replace the headcloth with a scarf.
Magic: Healing- As Kirn has kindred blood in his veins, he possesses the ability to make deals with the spirits. However, there is also the human part of him which isn't as adept at handling his ability. As such, it requires a good deal of concentration for him to use Kindred magic as well as eating up quite a bit of his life in the process. For this reason he keeps this ability of his as a last resort.
Skills:
- Herbologist- As he's always been quite keen on aiding people but didn't want to lose his life in the process, Kirn learned how to make different medicinal potions. As a side, he knows how to make quite a few poisons as well. Of course, with this knowledge he can easily pick up various plants with medicinal properties on something as simple as a stroll outside.
- Body language- Kirn is quite well at reading people and taking into account how they may be feeling just by subtle tells, as he's a keen observer.
- Marksmanship- Kirn has a sharpshooter's eye with which he uses his poisoned needles to attack. As such, he is good at throwing other small projectiles.
History: Kirn was born in Rothendust to his kindred mother and his human/dragoon mix father. His mother had been a herbalist and healer, though she left the practice after she had gotten pregnant with Kirn. As for his father Devan, he was a military man, a Paladin of Var. While he was a good and honest man, he was busy with military affairs for the most part, so much so that when Kirn was finally born, he wasn't by his wife's side. Kirn's pregnancy had been difficult for her in general, and his birth didn't get any easier, causing complications. Thankfully for her, she was able to use her healing power to save both her and the baby's life, but this caused her own lifespan to lessen drastically, so much so that by the time Kirn was three years of age, his mother had passed.
Distressed that his wife had passed, most of Devan's attention was paid to his work. Kirn in the meantime was brought up under the eyes of his grandparents, though they too were more preoccupied taking care of their own brood of children who were still dependant on them. As such, Kirn learned from a young age to deal with people as well as taking care of himself without needing much help from anyone else. By the time he reached his late teens, he informed his father his wish to travel and learn more about the world in general. Devan was not averse to this; he knew he wasn't the best of fathers and it wasn't like he could suddenly impose his rules on the young man.
Kirn had spent most of his childhood earning his own keep by doing odd jobs, so he had some money to travel with and make sure he wasn't destitute. He traversed through many places, though his first destination was the Sanctuary, wishing to learn more about his mother's race. Whilst here, he learned quite a bit about the kindred magic as well as the effects it would have on his own being. Realizing that using her magic was probably the reason his mother died, Kirn decided he wouldn't dabble in that part of his heritage unless it was absolutely necessary. Instead, he decided to learn more about healing in a traditional way, using plants and other ingredients to create both potions and poisons. Much of his time at the Kindred Sanctuary was spent in the forests, enjoying the calm and peace he felt as he studied.
Some years passed before Kirn decided it was time to pack up and head back to Rothendust once more. While he enjoyed it here, he realized that his talents would probably have more use elsewhere around the world. Once more a traveler, he decided to travel through the Begix Territory, which he hadn't actually visited the first time travelling that route. It was very different than what he was used to in the sanctuary, but he found himself enthralled with the oasis, seeing greenery in such an arid land. It was here where he met Maylee, and after some time decided she would make a lovely travelling companion.
When they parted at last, Kirn was once more in Rothendust. It had been years since he had met his father, but when they finally met the two realized that the distance had actually made them closer than they were when Kirn was still a child. Though Devan was slightly disappointed that his son wasn't exactly warrior material, he was nonetheless pleased that he had found his way in the world through study and work. He was the one who encouraged Kirn to volunteer for the expedition, giving a recommendation of his own.
