The chink of metal crashing into stone echoed throughout the antechamber, and the ground rumbled a bit, as KILL la KILL's scissor blade was slammed into the floor. KLK herself leaned on it, and sighed dramatically. "What the hell is going on here?" she demanded of the room, half-expecting an answer, but it never came.

She sighed again, leaning over even further to plop her chin down on her crossed arms, grasping the scissor blade's handle tightly. From all appearances, this place was even weirder than she'd imagined. KLK tried to recall the specifics of the 'quest' she'd been told about; something about a dude, in a tower, and his name was... "Death"? She shook her head, wondering why she'd been so offhand about being ready to take on any challenge, no matter the size. Then again, this place was a veritable dungeon, from what she'd heard. Maybe there were treasures inside...!

KLK stole another glance outside; from this antechamber, which didn't lead anywhere in particular but was more of a rest stop, the only way in was up. This tower, constructed haphazardly of random town materials, was indeed the most ridiculous thing she'd seen here yet. There were already holes in a few places, and rumor also had it that there was another team of adventurers who'd come here some time ago. Thus, the quest was both a rescue mission and a boss fight, one could say. Not that KLK cared all too much about the details; the primary objective was to beat up some big, mean dude and make off with his treasure. Saving people would be a byproduct, if possible.

But, she had to wait. She'd been expecting a few others to show up here at the same time today. While fully confident she'd be able to handle almost anything "Death" could throw at her, KLK figured it'd be best to wait until the other meat shie-- er, 'party members' showed up. Yeah, that's the right way to say it, she thought, a bit mercilessly.

A noise from outside made KILL la KILL's ears twitch, and she shrunk her scissor blade in an instant, moving swiftly to the antechamber's entrance to see who'd arrived.

"Okay, all ready."

A deep breath and that was what she'd said to herself, very carefree, as she'd turned the key in the door-lock of Starry Cats. Of course, saying it in such a way was downplaying the preparations she'd made... just a little, much as the grimy little keyhole in the black-painted door quietly belied the multiple actual layers of defence within.

That was how LaTale tended to operate, though. Bemoaning or - well, as some liked to - boasting of the hardships she had to deal with, that was foreign to her. So she'd make a little smile come and get down to work; sooner you start, sooner to finish. Unfortunately, keeping her guests 'entertained' wasn't yet something she'd been able to automate, she'd lessened the daily workload but, it took a lot to account for some of the more... particular tastes.

Still, she knew a guy who knew a guy, so she'd called in a favour. That didn't best bear thinking about... not right now, at least. This was the time to be excited, to be happy. Free of responsibilities and a schedule for the first day in some time; yeah, too much time - she'd been going stir-crazy cooped up in there. This was her solitary day off, you'd best believe the girl was going to make the most of it. An adventure! She'd been mouldering like week-old pho broth for want of it.

A heart full of desires and arms weighed down with loot. Yeah, that was how this day was gonna go.

But, it'd taken her some time to actually get to Exdeath's Tower, that fuzzy-edged spike that strained and shook to touch the sky. It was a motley construction, but she liked it. Even if it 'stood for an evil', if you'd look, really look, you could see all the colours of the spectrum... flowing from floor-to-floor.

The neighbourhood needed a little clean-up, but when it went, it'd feel strange to see it go.

Getting sidetracked in her own thoughts again.

"When you've been inside for months, the fresh air itself makes everything seem beautiful."

LaTale had to focus too, though. She was almost there, and she'd caught an ear that there were most likely hostiles even in the tower's outer precincts. Plus, she was a little - encumbered. She never groaned under the weight, nor staggered for more than the briefest moment, but it did seem... not impossible... that she'd brought perhaps a few too many weapons than would be best advised.

Alright, alright. No-one could really blame her for that, yet again it'd been too long since she'd had a proper brawl on her hands. Glory wasn't exactly on her radar, but if you're going to fight: fight with style, yeah? It was just unlucky for her that, courtesy of her home, (which had at its fingertips the technology to put a multi-racial colony in space, and generate simulated parallel universes, but mysteriously couldn't figure out how ever to produce a decently-sized backpack) she had to haul everything around the old-fashioned way.

The two small scimitars hanging by her waist as twin shards of the rainbow. A too-heavy, dented black gauntlet over her hand and forearm, ringed in rusty spikes and dragging her left-side down towards the ground. Crystalline cards stuffed into the collar of her embroidered imperial frock coat (unbuttoned, so the front was hanging out - she'd realised a little too late that she couldn't do it up with only one free hand). Over her back, a stone cudgel in the shape of... a tortoise's pudgy foot. And tied over that with a black leather belt (like many RPG characters, she seemed to have a limitless supply of these to hand) was... a cheap-looking electric guitar, the sort of thing you'd fob a seven-year old off with as a present.

So she looked bad and sounded worse, each step she took accompanied by two clanks and the awkward twang of the tuneless strings. Would she have had it any other way? Probably not. But that didn't stop her from being concerned when she stomped into the hanging-open maw at the bottom of the tower and felt the chilled air of someone or something coming her way, quickly.

LaTale reacted quickly, levitating one of the blades by her side to hover upright in the air in front of her.

Well, no. What she really did was squint hard enough to give herself an eyeache, and then after an awkward couple seconds the sword sprung out of its sheath and bellyflopped onto the floor; before slowly rising to about level with her kneecap, fidgeting in the dry air.

"Hmm, six years and I'm still no better at this." she murmured, before raising her voice - "Hello, who's there?" - and quicker than she'd been able to catch with her ears, there was a pretty (but obviously formidable to the eyes of anyone with two brain-cells left to rub together) girl standing a little ways off from her. She didn't look as LaTale would've predicted for an incursion into enemy territory, but then again, LaTale herself probably didn't look how the girl'd expected, either. C'est la vie, but...

"Oh! I think I've seen you before, somewhere." said LaTale with some surprise (enough to shake her concentration and drop the sword, again, with an embarrassingly loud skitter of metal on concrete). "You seem quite familiar... have we met? If so, I'm sorry, I don't quite have the best memory for faces. Outfits, on the other hand... maybe that's what I'd saw. I don't often forget a good look, and you're quite striking!"

Now she was assured their were no horrible, slavering demon-things coming by this way (yet), she was conversational. "I'm LaTale. Here to wipe-down this messy table one way or another."

LaTale offered a handshake to twin with the introduction, albeit one awkwardly low-down because she was bent forwards, and could barely raise her freehand... she didn't really want to think about how she was gonna pick up her sword again - that is, without faceplanting the cobbles of stitched-together tarmac and tiles and knocking herself out-cold before she'd even hit-up the first encounter. Deal with that later, yeah. It's not like it was on her schedule, after all...

Sometimes, patrols were just boring.

They were very important, sure! Lyrical Nanoha understood the need for them, especially since that latest branch of Jewel Seeds went missing. But for the sake of pastry shops everywhere, could they not be a little more interesting? All she had to do was cast Wide Area Search over and over again in hopes of stumbling across something useful, yet nothing. Nothing! Argh, what she would not give for a glass of hot chocolate milk in her hands! However, that thought did not remain inside her head for long, as it was quickly replaced by concern. After all, this was her duty. She had to protect everyone from whatever threat she found.

And speaking of threats, there was something very strange appearing on the horizon. A building that should not be there. Stopping mid-air to take a closer look, Lyrical Nanoha had her trusty friend transform into buster mode so she could use Raising Heart's zoom function. Raising the staff to her eyes in order to look through the sights, she gaped at what she saw. That... a tower? But it was so shoddily built that it might as well have been a shed. The haphazard nature of its construction was obvious even to her and it was such a butchering of both TSAB and non-administered world standards that its mere existence was a crime. Then there were its surroundings.

Looking more like a wasteland than an actual city, Lyrical Nanoha could not help but be reminded of ancient ruins. It was a devastated piece of land; almost as if a bunch of mass-based weapons had swept through it. Just the mere thought of that made the magical girl shudder, but at least now she had something to do. The tower could definitely not remain standing as it was and while she would have loved nothing more than to destroy it with a well-aimed Divine Buster, there could be people inside! And that would just be awful. She had to rescue them all, not to mention make sure that they were placed in loving homes afterwards, even if they were fandomena.

Determined as such, Lyrical Nanoha lowered her staff and had it transform back. Then, she channeled her mana into her Flier Fin and in response, a pink ball of light arced through the skies. Its approach was not subtle; if anyone was watching for it, they could easily notice it streaking through the air. After all, she wanted to make haste in order to come to the help of those poor people inside the building; if it looked so bad from the outside, then its inside was likely just as bad. If not worse.

However, two people standing in front of the tower caught Lyrical Nanoha's eye. She did not recognise either of them, but they seemed to look... almost contemplative? As if they were trying to decide whether or not they should enter. Were they also here to see the people inside? If so, Lyrical Nanoha had to help them! A glimmer of hope appeared in her eyes and without a second thought, she immediately headed towards them, disengaging her Flier Fins in order to land gracefully in front of Kill la Kill and La Tale. She had a wide, friendly smile on her face as she did so.

"Hello! I'm sorry if I interrupted you two," she said, bowing respectfully just as the custom dictated. "I'm Lyrical Nanoha! Are you two also going to head inside this... ummm... thing?" she asked, becoming unsure of herself. Because this hodge-podge building definitely did not deserve the label of 'tower'.[/hr]

Tower Group 2: New arrivals, old enemies.

The entrance room had certainly seen better times, but the main structure still remained the same. At the northern end of the entrance room, two stairs could be found, one leading up and the other one leading down. In the eastern and western walls, an opening to another room could be found. Closer inspction would prove the eastern room to be devoid of anything interesting, but the western room was not quite so empty; A chest could be found in one of the corners of the western room, partially covered in stones of varying sizes, and a large pudlle of water had spread out on the floor around it. Miraculously, the chest itself was perfectly intact. Finally, a large hole could be seen in the ceiling right above the chest.

Meanwhile, outside the tower, the Fandom's conversation was disturbed by a growling sound coming from somewhere nearby. Looking around, the noise seemed to come from a pile of rubble at the base of a damaged wall, one or two of the smaller rocks rolling off the pile. Moments later, the rubble was send flying in all directions as a large monster erupted from under it, unleashing a bellowing howl loud enough to wake the dead. The beast could best be described as some kind of giant lizard, with a second head replacing its tail. Even covered in dust as it was, the Fandoms could see that the creature had been injured before; cuts and bruises were spread all across its body. Apparently it blamed the newcomers for its pain, for as soon as it caught eye of them the monster charged right at the Fandoms, both of its jaws snapping in the air with every step.

Megaman -- Entering Goblin Man's level...

"Yeah, let's do that then," Megaman answered. Not that he had any idea where everyone had gone to beyond their general direction, but eh. From his own experience, as long as you just kept moving in said general direction (always right, never left, unless it's to go up and right again), you would eventually end up at the right spot -- generally neatly marked by a mechanical door and a giant W-sign. Trusting that this would be the case again now, Megaman decided to just go for that same strategy this time too.

After delivering DHMIS back to their house, the duo headed off in the direction Megaman last saw the other Fandoms move to. Megaman took the lead, taking as straight a line as possible at all times. I'm pretty sure they went this way. ...They did, right? I hope I didn't choose the wrong level... Megaman thought. It didn't take long for that suspicion to turn out to be unfounded; after only a minute or two of traveling, the two could find knocked over trashcans, scratch marks on the walls and several other signs that something -- or rather several somethings -- had been active in the area. "Seems like they went past here," Megaman stated, switching to another weapon in preparation for an encounter with the Goblins. Along with the weapon change, his color also changed to a new palette, the blue and cyan being replaced by red and white respectively. "I don't think we need to worry too much yet though. After all, we didn-"
...'t go through a boss door yet, was was Megaman was about to say. Unfortunately for the blue/cyan Fandom (or rather red/white for now), said sentence was rudely interrupted when about a dozen Goblins decided that now was a good time to ambush the two unlikely allies. Two of them attacked GHD at the same time, while two others launched themselves at Megaman. Acting by sheer instinct, Megaman slid backwards to avoid the attack, then fired his Danmaku Shotgun at his enemies.

Minecraft- yas boi gems
Almost instantly, Minecraft pounced on the gem before holding it up after a moment of thought. "I, uh...I guess this is rightfully yours." She held it out to Pokemon, offering her the red crystal. She didn't know what to do with it anyway, and Char-whoever had said the other fandom had freed it. It wouldn't be right for her to take it.

TLC and Avengers- Oh boy, more people

TLC wasn't sure exactly how to react to this new development- portals were not something she was quite used to. Even with her being, well, more technologically advanced than most, it was still strange to see an organic creature such as a lion spit out a portal.

Then again, this was the Fandomverse. Nothing was entirely impossible here.

As they leaped up through the portal and she blinked against the light, she realized they weren't alone...again. "Woah." She squinted at this new group, her eyes landing specifically on the tall girl glaring at them with the hammer and shield- she recognized her, somehow, but she couldn't quite put her finger on who she was.

A nod had been Avengers' answer and she had started to lead the way when the portal opened up almost right below her and she was forced to scramble backward. And then there was a pink lion, along with a few other fandoms, all piled on the lion's back- or in one's case, held like a kitten.

She'd seen her fair share of strange things, but this?

Within seconds, she had her shield up and ready, suspicious eyes peering out from over it. But they didn't seem like a threat- and the leader of the little group was now talking, amiably for now. She still didn't relax. She reached over and calmly clamped a hand over Scooby's mouth before taking charge, as was her habit. "I don't know who Steven universe is. Mind introducing yourselves? I'm Avengers."

GHD- Who knew Goblins were good at stealth?

GHD smiled, happy that he was helping in some sort of way. It felt good that despite how terrible his day was going, that hee could honestly help the people that were around him. He followed him to the right, wondering if the house was to the left, but didn't want to seem rude and followed him, hoping that he knew what he was doing. He took a deep breath and tilted his head, not sure what else there was to say as he walked in silence, trying to process if they were going to fight goblins or if they would just find the fandom's friends.

GHD followed him closely behind and noticed they were going in a straight line. He honestly hoped that Megaman knew what direction they were going in. It wasn't that he doubted that the fandom knew where they were going, but it was more that he was nervous that he didn't knew where the fuck he was going and the two of them were lost. Okay, maybe he did doubt that Megaman knew the way, but he wouldn't dare to say it a loud. Thankfully, it seemed that eh did know the way as there were knocked over trashcans, scratch marks amongst other things to prove that someone was in the area. He wasn't sure what was in the area, but it was something. He was thankful that he was still holding his small cellphone to film himself for today. Normally, he would carry his heavy camera, but he didn't have the energy for that camera right now. He looked over at Megaman and tilted his head, wondered how the sentence was going to end now/

He looked up and realized that they were being surrounded and he was being attacked by two goblins. GHD wasn't having any of that nonsense and grabbed his clipboard to bash those guys in the face. For one, those goblins were running his shot and for two, he didn't want his face to be damaged. He did have his secret weapon, but he rarely used it unless the situation was dire and he was almost certain that he could handle some goblins. Well, he hoped that he could handle some goblins at least.

KLK's eyebrows raised in absolute confusion as the first newcomer made her approach. This one was a girl, wearing all sorts of items upon her person, almost to the point of disbelief. It was impressive, nonetheless, and so KLK picked her jaw up off the floor as the approaching girl did the same with her weapon, motionlessly at that.
"You seem quite familiar... have we met? If so, I'm sorry, I don't quite have the best memory for faces. Outfits, on the other hand... maybe that's what I'd saw. I don't often forget a good look, and you're quite striking!"
"Yeah, uhhh..."
KLK's voice trailed off, and she rubbed the back of her head with one hand as she tried to recall where she might know this person from. And then, she had it.

"Oh! You run that fancy food shop in town, right? Wacky place, but you have a good thing going." KLK attempted a thumbs-up to lift the girl's spirits.
"I'm LaTale. Here to wipe-down this messy table one way or another."
"Happy to have you along, then," KLK replied, stepping forward to take the girl's hand and shake. "I'm KILL la KILL, and it'd be much better as a pair then going alone." There was a small voice inside of her that said it might not be, but KLK shushed that and carried on. Her own spirits were lifting quickly.

"You definitely came prepared," KLK mentioned, giving LaTale's armada another glance. "Hopefully we won't run into anything that needs it, but ya never--"

"Wait... what's that?"
Something in the sky above had caught KLK's eye, and she tried to focus on it as it approached. But in another instant, 'it' had landed, and a third girl bedecked in a fanciful outfit stepped up to the pair.
"Hello! I'm sorry if I interrupted you two," she said, bowing respectfully just as the custom dictated. "I'm Lyrical Nanoha! Are you two also going to head inside this... ummm... thing?"
"I, uhhh," KLK stammered, glancing back at LaTale, and then the tower itself, for support.

"... yeah. That's what we're here for." She shrugged mentally. The more the merrier.

Pokemon- A new Companion??

Well, the counter attacks didn't work, and what transpired next with the strange, yet pretty cute, lupin like creature was in the monster's place and spoke to her.

"It was no--oh he just...huh." Pokemon replied as the lupin basically poofed out of sight. Carbuncle, huh? What a weird name for a weird name for a weird creature.

"Thanks." the trainer replied as Minecraft handed the red gem left behind to her. She was definitely going to keep it safe and protected! She couldn't help but muse that it was somewhat like receiving a Z-crystal in a sense.

Making friends can be hard...

Lyrical Nanoha smiled at the answer. It felt good to know other people were also conscious of strange buildings! She felt all warm and fuzzy inside, though the two did not introduce themselves. Probably because she surprised them with her entrance. She nevertheless remained in a good mood, as she moved to ask their names. Unfortunately, an explosion shook the ground before she could open her mouth. Debris missed her by millimetres while a roar filled her ears. Her eardrums screamed pain at her. The cacophony disrupted her skull. Stunned, only Raising Heart's autoguard stopped her untimely end.

"Protection," the Device intoned. Feral jaws shut with a hungry click, but they found a pink barrier instead of flesh. Magic flared around Lyrical Nanoha, enveloped her like a sanctuary. The beast smashed into the shield and its teeth shattered, a respite she used to distance herself. Wings of light at her feet lifted her skywards with a nimble dance. Shock turned into a frown on Lyrical Nanoha's face as she surveyed the situation below her. Normally, she chastised the bonehead who interrupted the conversation... But that was impossible. Her opponent seemed a savage beast without reason, a creature of instinct. All muscle, no brains.

"Raising Heart?" she fished for advice.
"Unknown creature, master," replied her Device. "Processed Infinite Library reports provide no information on the subject." So she had nothing... Well, her protagonist had been in worse situations and she came out alive. Her trust placed in her allies, Lyrical Nanoha transformed Raising Heart into shooting mode. Pink motes of magic gathered around her as the creature recovered, but that mattered little. The spell came into being before the thing caused more damage. Familiar words flashed on Raising Heart's crimson core, almost as if etched there.

"Divine Buster."
A devastating beam of light shot forwards. It sliced through air, ionised molecules in its path, melted some unfortunate rubble, then it struck her enemy. While Lyrical Nanoha held herself back to conserve her reserves, the blast held considerable power; the magical equivalent of taking several .50 caliber rounds right to the chest.
