The blonde, scarred boy's sarcasm seemed to match Ricchon's humor just fine. His sardonic expression vanished in exchange for a mildly amused one, and a small smile crept forth. Eden could seem a bit feral sometimes. Ricchon soon felt embarrassed however, as he'd apparently misunderstood the scene playing out in the hallway.
Suppressing his smile when looking down coyly, Ricchon readied himself to perhaps make amends with them. The platina blonde limper especially, since he seemed to get hurt a lot. Ricchon's heart beat faster and faster while drawing breath. Just when he was about to speak up to the boys, Alicia, the finicky little girl, did. Ricchon guessed the boys would let themselves be pulled along by the charming girl, so he put his hands in his pockets, and started on his way to the dining hall by himself. The blonde boys, and Alicia seemed like a jolly little family after all, so he kept himself a stranger. The incident from yesterday, where he'd tried to save Jameson from Alicia's devastating powers, kind of made things feel awkward for him too.

Jameson Francis

He would never understand anything in this place, let alone people. It was the thought that occurred to him as Eden scrambled away to presumably hide somewhere and be upset at him, and Ricchon's eyes no doubt kept trying to bore holes in the back of his head - though he refused to look and confirm either suspicion. If things kept going like they were now, he was going to lose his mind over the rapid roller coaster of an experience long before he ever managed to find a way out.

There was a hand in front of him, Jameson realized as he followed the voice up to a scarred face with a momentarily confused expression. At least, it seemed, he wasn't the only one who had just recently arrived, and he had to assume the cars he'd passed by the night before had delivered this guy not long after he'd shown up himself. Rubbing the back of his head a little more, he did finally accept the hand and let it help him to his feet, hopping slightly on his good leg until he had his balance again and could let go. How many bruises was this place going to give him in the next 24 hours?

"Hope not." Jameson mumbled grumpily as he dusted himself off, despite there being little to no dirt indoors. If this strange orphanage-prison was going to give him more scars he was going to high tail it out of here before he even had a plan.

The first hand had been expected, an offer given to him that he had the choice to accept - he was less okay when Alicia grabbed onto him without asking, tensing a little and fighting down a glare because she was just a little girl and it wasn't her fault he was hurting and his brain didn't work in normal ways. "Yeah." He managed, running a hand down his face and shaking his head to clear it and take a second for calm. "Sure. At least if you fell on me you'd be lighter." Sighing, he looked the new guy up and down and raised an eyebrow appraisingly. "You usually eat dressed like that?" To each his own, he supposed.

♫ Now Playing: 20. 'Powers'

"Back yard in ten minutes. Outside clothes."

The voice was worn, like a voice that had been through a lot more than the owner cared to let on. The man, however, was kind, gentle, and almost impossibly protective. Mr. Powers cared, and the kids knew it, of all the safe places and honest people in the orphanage, Percy was consistently the best. He was there to educate the kids not only in social and academic matters, but to help them grow with their abilities as well. Today was a special day, the weather had cleared up, and that meant the kids were going into town.

The blond kid grasped his hand firmly and Joa pulled him up from the floor. The other boy proceeded to dust himself off, muttering mostly to himself that he surely hoped not that he wouldn't be getting matching scars. Joa simply shrugged his commentary off, like water off duck's back. Hey, at least it would be more permanent and unique than friendship bracelets, eh?

"I'm sure she's grateful and at least you two managed to get her down and awake so she can get started on her routine." Alicia comments in between with a beaming smile, "Come on, let's go get breakfast together!" She adds and grabs Joa and the other boy by the hand, all eager to lead them down the hallway for the first meal of the day. "I promise I wont hurt you Jameson, that you can be sure of!"

"Yeah." The blond boy, named Jameson apparently, on the other side of Alicia mutters behind his hand that he runs down his own face, and shakes his head. "Sure. At least if you fell on me you'd be lighter." Sighing, he looked at Joa up and down, in similar manner like Alicia earlier, and raised an eyebrow appraisingly. "You usually eat dressed like that?"

Under the gaze, Joa couldn't help but self-consciously clasp the arm that was riddled with old scarred burn tissue. It wasn't a pretty sight, and there was no way of him hiding it with one hand, but he couldn't help the reflex. Old habits die hard. "No, I usually eat in my birthday suit, but thanks for asking." Joa replied with a straight face, giving a moment for that image of him eating eggs and bacon nude sink in for all present; including the brooding guy within earshot. A bit of a crooked smile snuck upon his face, inclining that he wasn't being serious, but obviously glad that the seed was planted. The damage was already done, and wiping that off their minds was going to require willpower and bleach. "Now that I know y'all have been thinking about me naked, I think we've breached the ice and should be relatively comfortable with each other's company from now on. Amirite?" He joked with a casual tone, trying his best to lighten up the mood that felt somehow heavy, and not leave it to Alicia only.

"But in all seriousness though, I need to change," he adds, prying his hand from Alicia and starts again towards the sleeping quarters, walking backwards, "I'll catch up, you guys go ahead." He says, nearly stumbling on to the Tall, Dark and Handsome, managing to swivel himself out of the harm's way just in time; "Woah! And you too, big guy." He points at the black haired older boy, apparently not too intimidated by him either, before vanishing out of sight as he stepped into the other room.

His head pops back from the door, as he leans backwards to call out to all three of them; "Oh, and name's Joa. Just so y'all know who's name to call in your dreams tonight." He winks and vanishes again with a wicked smile to get dressed.

Alicia is star struck as Joa talks about eating naked, her face turning a dark tomato as the boy continues on and heads off to the dorms, popping his head out and having a final comment. One that makes Alicia even more embarrassed yet also mad. Her shouting out with her eyes shut tightly as she stomps her foot "Dont talk like that you jerk! Ugh! God!" She breathes heavily to vent some of her anger and embarrassment. It wasnt even that Joa was badly scarred, even though it was a bit scary and disturbing to think of his entire body being burnt like that. It was more about the fact that he would insinuate that Alicia would imagine him in his birthday suit or dream about him. The joke wasn't amusing to Alicia, pervy ones never were. Her idea of Joakim the heroic was definitely shaken from this but she could forgive a simple joke rather easily

Alicia notices Ricchon at this point and blinks a few times before waving and looking at him with surprise "oh... hi there Ricchon... or rather good morning" she smiles at the tall teenager and seems to be much calmer than she just was, but still a bit embarrassed. She hears the announcement from Mr Powers yet isnt about to head for the backyard without Joakim and Jameson

As Joakim kept spilling out humor, the shadow manipulator's face couldn't hold back a smile anymore. It was something about that boy which made the darkness looming about him lift, and cause him to smile.
When Joakim started walking backwards towards him however, Ricchon soon enough found out that the two of them had enough dexterity to avoid each other- barely so however. It was like an unspoken agreement of not to touch. Feeling relieved, though also in the way, Ricchon continued towards the dining hall with his shoulders raised as if to hide away. Ricchon didn't feel very big, though he guessed he was. His powers were not present at this point. A normal, dark, shabby looking boy passed Alicia and Jameson. In daylight it was harder for him to use his powers to hide. He compensated by having his body language do the job for him.
Moving towards the stairs a few feet ahead, Ricchon didn't feel like messing up anymore. He had the whole day to make amends after all.
"Joa. Alright..." Ricchon thought while listening with his back against Jameson and Alicia. The kid named Joa left shortly after he left another joke, and Ricchon smiled while envying Joa's ability to speak so freely.
"...call in your dreams tonight."
Ricchon grinned as Alicia didn't seem to handle the older boy's jokes. He knew the girl had a temper, but this was hilarious. Ricchon chuckled soundlessly, still having his back against them, but the traces of his amusement could be seen when he circled the handrail, and looked at Alicia. The smile he gave her was a devil like one, clearly amused by her tantrum just then. That was all he gave the sweet girl before continuing carelessly down the stairs. Alicia was polite and kind to everyone. She was a gentle, finicky girl, who deserved nothing but good, though Ricchon didn't believe he had anything to offer.
When Mr. Powers declared he wanted everyone out in ten minutes, Ricchon stubbornly decided to spend his time eating and getting ready, though he wouldn't arrive any later than one of the last. It wasn't like he had any make up to do.

The scars were - Jameson wasn't going to say hideous, not out loud, because he didn't mean it that way and he was relatively sure no one would believe him. But seeing marks like that all over someone just made him think of what could've happened to cause it and how much it must have hurt, and it struck him with little waves of sympathy. He wondered how much they still hurt.

Jameson made a little 'pff' that could've been laughter when Joa said he ate in his birthday suit, thinking the taller teen was joking but really, who could be sure? They didn't know him, and he really hadn't needed that sort of image in his head though he did stop himself from picturing the entirety of the thought.

"In my nightmares, maybe!" Jameson called after Joa as he left, shaking his head with a sigh and just leaning against a wall nearby to wait, out of Ricchons way as the teen passed. After a pause he gave Alicia's hand a little shake where it still held his, if only to distract her. "Oh, just ignore Mr. Birthday Suit. The second he comes back we're going down to get breakfast. Apparently this place is run by Hitler and we only have ten minutes to eat." Ridiculous. Once they were in the cafeteria or dining room or whatever this place had, he had half a mind to just stay there and disobey the almighty intercom.

Ann sat alone as she usually did, simply because there were times when she would randomly call something up from her thoughts and she didn't want to accidentally hurt anyone. She looked up at the announcement that they had ten minutes to get their gear and get to the backyard and sighed softly. She wondered if new coats had been found to replace the ones Alicia had rotted out the night before, since her coat had been in that closet anyway. That made her think of Alicia and she wondered where the girl was, as well as the new boys. She glanced up to the ceiling and wondered if she should go check on them or go find a staff member to let them know about the coats first. She finished her food while she thought about it all, then stood to take her bowl to the sink to be washed while she went to check on the coat situation. After all, that would likely add some time if it hadn't been remedied already.

Dining room.

Ricchon's smile was gone. The new surroundings of the hallway wasn't amusing, so why would he smile? At all times Ricchon seemed to be occupied with something in his mind. Plotting schemes, some said he did, but that would be a waste of Ricchon's time. He was planning safety measures, or maybe he was just a control freak. When something got moved, he wanted to take notice. The shadows spoke to him after all. He wanted to know where they were so he wouldn't experience another surprising turn when travelling through the shadows. He'd not yet learned how to break the speed, and he wanted to learn that so he wouldn't feel sick every time he traveled through the darkness. Breaking through ones fears were never easy, and Ricchon had started doing that with jolts of bravery. Now he needed to calm down, and gain better control. He needed to be quick about it. He was leaving the school in a year, and Ricchon was in a hurry.
Just thinking about it made his heart beat. It caused him to speed up when heading for the dining room. Again he almost crashed into someone. The silent girl, Ann Marie, who Ricchon seemed to have a small crush on. He looked at her as if about to speak, but changed his mind, and moved on towards the food feeling ashamed and stupid.

Ann paused, raising her hands to keep from hitting Ricchon when he came down. He seemed about to say something so she gave him a smile to encourage him, but then he changed his mind and went to the dining room without a word. She turned to watch him a moment then headed for the coat closet again. Sure enough, the coats were ruined, so she took hers out and went to find a staff member to show them so that other coats could be found for those that needed them and the other kids would have a bit of a chance to eat before having to be in the backyard with the professor. While they would be searching for usable coats, she headed back to the dining room to see if Alicia had made it down with the other kids yet.

Oh, God, she smiled to me! And I said nothing! Stupid! Ricchon cursed, and grabbed a tray once he got to the line. Luckily the line was short, and as he picked out his favored food he brooded to himself. Sitting down in a corner, alone, Ricchon quickly added strawberry jelly to a slice of bread while eating a pear. There was an agreement Ricchon had with the school whenever they would go out on trips. Ricchon did have a habit of disappearing, so he would be given a small amount of sedative to keep his anxiety at bay. The staff in the kitchen had watched him drink a glass of water with three drops of sedative in it, but Ricchon wanted more. Not for the time being, but when he practiced his powers. The calm he felt because of the drugs would probably make it easier for him to practice, but he wasn't allowed to practice when on outings. Staring at the kitchen he wondered where they kept the little bottle, and whether he could just borrow it for one night.

He couldn't help but laugh at the varying reactions the others had. Alicia's mortified reaction was priceless, and Joa decided to tuck that behind the ear for future reference; she seemed like a fun kind of kid to tease here and there. Jameson had a good comeback that he enjoyed, it was always refreshing when someone else didn't just lock up and stand there tight lipped. Even the brooding guy had seemed to smile out there, or perhaps it was just a temporary face cramp, what did Joa know. Either way, it seemed like he had managed his job as the comedic relief. It was sometimes hard work being the funny guy, but hey, someone had to do it.

The earlier announcement that had echoed through the house dominated his choice of clothing. Joa chose some tan jeans (in dark chocolate brown shade that were a bit lighter from the knees where they were a bit worn from use) and another long sleeved shirt, yet again a muted tone of green. He always thought that neutral colors suited him the best, he wasn't big on dramatics or wanting to be noticed. His face was notice worthy enough, and not because it was drop dead gorgeous. And unfortunately, that did the job well enough on its own. But Joa wasn't the type to crawl away and wanting to hide, either. He often felt like he had to compete with himself to bring out his personality loud and bright, just so others would see him and not only the scars that made the boy. Because he refused to let the scars make him. Because if he did, he would be just another angsty brooding teenager with a tragic past with battle scars to prove it, like straight out of a TV trope. He wanted to show to the other kids that he was smart and funny and easy to get along with, just like any other kid out there who was easy to smile and socialize. It was like he had something to prove all the time, but sometimes Joa wondered if he wanted to prove it to others or if he wanted to prove something to himself. Was it really the other kids he wanted to forget his ugly appearance, or was it just him? It was at times hard to tell. That line blurred for him very easily.

He jumped on his combat boots, quickly tying the laces with his nimble fingers. And lastly but not leastly, he picked up the old brown pilot jacket from the bed post and threw it over his shoulders, leaving it open while still indoors. He would only have but minutes to wolf something down before they would be meant to gather down in the yard. But it was alright, Joa was practically a professional at making food disappear, and usually in large quantities. He was a growing teenage boy and he needed all the nutrients he was offered. So if this was meant to be a challenge, Joa would take it rather casually.

"Oh," Joa said in surprise as he stepped out of the room now fully dressed and ready to tackle the day, as he realized that Jameson and Alicia were still standing there, "I thought I told you guys to go ahead?" He states in a questioning manner as he steps forward to them, pushing his hands into the pockets of his worn out pilot jacket. Maybe they thought he needed assistance to get to the dining hall. Honestly though, the place wasn't that big. "I may look like the special needs kid, but I assure you, these bad boys don't affect my brain," he jokes with a dry tone, referring to his scarred appearance, but then stops and thinks about it for a second, adding with a serious tone and frown; "though there are times that make me second guess..." Of course, that was just another joke. Others would soon enough get used to him making plenty of morbid ones on his own expense. Over the years it had formed to be his coping method.

"Shall we, then? I don't know about you two, but I am starving." He perks up again with another easy smile that made the scar on the side of his mouth stretch every time he did. Without another word, Joa started down the hallway. He may have appeared very self-confident, but in truth he was rather nervous. Dining halls were always the place of gossip and peer judgement. In the old place, new people were rather rare, but always eager to stare at him while he ate. But that was one or two kids at a time. Now he was the new kid, so that practically made him some sort of zoo exhibit for all the kids to stare.

Well, if they wanted to stare, maybe Joa had to give them something worth to look at...

Alicia takes a moment to look at Joa with residual irritation before she smiles and shakes her head at Joa. Her speaking in a proper and respectful tone "I would never just leave you to make your way alone in a new place. I want you to feel welcome and loved Joakim! To call this place your home as I do" She looks at Joa with a glimmer in her eyes, a twinkle that expresses just how genuine her words are and how much she cares. His jokes no matter how morbid or pervy will always be forgiven by Alicia rather quickly. She would rather he didn't make jokes at his own expense and her caring nature shows that it bothers her a bit. Though she cant and wouldn't want to change Joakim's personality at all. That isn't right so long as he isn't self-destructive. She reaches out for Joa's hand and holds it gently before looking at Jameson, her smile seeming warmer than ever before as she nods to him "And you too. I get the feeling you don't really like it here because you haven't had good experiences... Well I hope I can change that and that we can be the best of friends together. Let's start by heading to the dining room together and stuffing our faces and pockets with as much as we can in the few minutes we have" She wears a determined expression now as her stomach growls lightly, the call of hunger seeming like a war drum to Alicia. It would seem this girl likes food with great appreciation and is not going to be denied a meal "After all we cant go on an empty stomach to meet Mr Powers... I'm sure everyone will understand if we sneak some food out in our coats" She frowns as she thinks of the coat closet, hoping her coat isn't too ruined to wear out in the snowy aftermath

She wouldn't mind holding both their hands all the way to the coat closet then the dining hall to get breakfast like a bunch of mad raiders. Though if they don't wish to she certainly wouldn't force the issue. As it stands she seems to be in a very warm and happy mood despite the chaos of last night. Likely because her nightmares didn't torture her all night as usual and she finally seemed to be making some friends. She wondered if Ann was already done and waiting outside or not. When her, Jameson, and Joa finally head downstairs she would notice Ann and wave to her happily. Her seemingly liking the company of the new guys and getting along with them incredibly swiftly. She had no intention of just ignoring Ann for them though, they all lived together so there was no reason she could spend time with everyone all the time so long as studies. chores, and therapy didn't chew up all day and exhaust her. Plus Alicia liked to write music in her free time, it helped ease the loss of her favorite violin. A classic piece handcrafted by her grandfather and placed in storage for safekeeping just a week before her mother died. Alicia is more than willing to give up on that hobby to spend time with her new friends if it comes down to it

Jameson waited as patiently as he could while being clung to by a child, gradually growing accustomed to the hand holding and making himself ignore it as best he could. When Joa came back, he only shrugged at the fact that they should have walked away and didn't comment on the taller teen's self-deprecating humor. Alicia clearly liked Joa well enough, and a couple minutes waiting wasn't really going to change much about their limited schedule. If he was careful enough this time, maybe he might even find an ally in someone being as new as he was, and not have another disaster like the night before.

When Alicia looked for her coat he took the opportunity to get his hand back and put both of them in his jacket pockets to avoid getting attached again, then just trailer after the happy girl to the dining hall. He wasn't, truly, very sure what to say when she mentioned wanting him to have this place as a home and grow attached to it like she was, so he had only smiled a little in response. This place wasn't home. It would never be. Just like everywhere else he'd been, it was just another detour in an endless attempt to get himself back to a place that actually had been home. He just didn't want to upset her by denying her happy visions of the future.

"Mr. Powers?" Jameson parroted when they'd reached the dining hall, something incredulous and vaguely amused in his voice. "He change his name when he got to this place or is it just some ironic coincidence?" He had a feeling Mr. Powers was going to be someone that didn't have powers, too. It was too much. He just wanted to think of breakfast, and would make sure to sneak an apple or two into his pockets when they got in line for food.

Ann smiled and waved back to Alicia as the girl came down. Her greeting extended to the two boys with her and she followed the three to the dining room once more, putting some fruit in her pockets as well before going to take a seat to listen to them as they talked and waiting for them to be called out to go on the trip. She wondered what had held the trio up so long, but had no way to ask, so she settled to simply listen and learn what she could that way. Once sitting, Ann started to idly doodle with her finger against the tabletop. She would never dare to write on the table, that would be wrong and she knew she would have to clean it up after as part of a punishment. She had done that when she was younger. That made her think of something and she held up a finger as if to say she would be right back before getting up once more to head upstairs. She went to her room to grab her notebook and pen, quickly making certain the the pen would write then grabbing a pencil to shove in a pocket as a backup and making her way downstairs again. It wasn't often that she would resort to writing, but with two new guys, she knew she might need to write something before this day was over. The off chance she wouldn't have to didn't bother her, since she could simply use the items to doodle something to pass the time.

Drawing was something she enjoyed doing and it was relatively safe since she had never made any of her drawings come to life before. She simply didn't know it was possible yet, she was still trying to come to grips with being able to call tv creations to life in the real world. They had started coming out more as she had gotten older, forcing her to try to learn to control it or have random creations around herself, like the rabbits the night before. For her it was use it or it would use her. There was no ignoring it anymore, not that there ever had been that choice.

She thought of all of that as she came back down to the dining hall to sit with Alicia and the boys again, giving them another smile in greeting then glancing to the clock to check the time they had left.

p5f9R8s.jpg

At first Alicia gave him a look that was somewhat disapproving, but it dissipated fast enough, and she was back to all smiles. "I would never just leave you to make your way alone in a new place. I want you to feel welcome and loved Joakim! To call this place your home as I do," she says with stars in her eyes and rainbows in her voice, suddenly so bright that Joa had to resist the urge to shield his eyes. Her hand reaches out to grab his, and almost automatically the boy with the ashen brown hair pulls it out from his pilot jacket's pocket to offer for her small grasp; the movement feels so natural that Joa doesn't even think about it until he has already done it. Immediately he frowns just how chummy he gets with Alicia, and most importantly, how fast. He has known her for less than twenty-four hours, but he feels like it's been longer. Something from the back of his mind has already accepted her as something akin to a family, like a little sister that he had always wanted. He brushed the thought away, deciding it was just orphaned kids instinct to stick together for one another, or some other natural psychological phenomenon like that. Either way, he doesn't mind too much, as he likes this little girl already a great deal.

"And you too," Alicia now speaks to Jameson as they walk towards the dining hall, "I get the feeling you don't really like it here because you haven't had good experiences... Well I hope I can change that and that we can be the best of friends together. Let's start by heading to the dining room together and stuffing our faces and pockets with as much as we can in the few minutes we have." She says with the utmost determination, and as on cue, her stomach growls loudly. Joa can't help but snort in amusement, the timing was just too perfect. "After all we can't go on an empty stomach to meet Mr. Powers... I'm sure everyone will understand if we sneak some food out in our coats."

They stopped by the coat closet to pick up the outdoor clothes for Alicia and Jameson; Joa was already wearing his, so he settled for judging the condition of the insides of the closet. It was kind of scary how widely and easily Alicia's power seemed to affect her surroundings. It was unsettling, but he decided to keep his opinions to himself about it lest it upset her. He if who knew how being on the end of such opinions felt like, as his own abilities with blood weren't much less stomach wrenching than her uncanny ability to rot things.

"Mr. Powers?" Jameson repeats the name after pulling his coat on and they step into the dining hall. The blond distanced himself from Alicia; it was an obvious effort, Joa observed in silence. He seemed the awkward kind that wasn't too comfortable with touching, or perhaps it was the affection behind it. Or maybe he just didn't like kids that much. Whatever it was, Joa wouldn't mind keeping Alicia all to himself, and offers her his hand again right after she's put her coat on. "He change his name when he got to this place or is it just some ironic coincidence?"

That... was pretty good question. He had to hand it to Jameson, the irony in that one was strong. A small smile tucked his lips as Alicia seems to notice someone and waves at them from their place in line. Joa's tawny eyes follow her gaze, and she notices the platinum blonde from last night. Ann, was it? She waves back at Alicia, but also pays attention to him and Jameson too. And the light sense of awkwardness is back as he waves back at her. Joa wasn't generally good with girls his age, perhaps typical for a teenage boy like him. Ann was pretty, he couldn't deny that, but he felt this way around with basically all girls so she wasn't a special case or anything. Except maybe with little versions like Alicia, because in that puppy stage they generally weren't yet aware just how terrible creatures they were that were genetically modified by evolution to shred boys like Joa to pieces. Teenage girls were possibly the most terrifying creatures to walk this earth. So far, Joa hadn't had very good experiences with them. It's like something magical happens the moment they hit thirteen, and they turn from small innocent cuties into these nightmares that can hack men's self-confidence into small pieces by mere words alone.

Yeah, some shit went down in the past, and Joa is by far sure he will never get a girlfriend. 'Nuff said.

Once they got the food, all four of them sat by the table. Joa made sure that he got a serving large enough to fill his stomach but small enough to be devoured within the tight time frame. He also made sure to pick food items that could fit into the pockets of his jacket, like an apple and a pastries wrapped in napkins. Thankfully the pockets of his jacket were rather large, and while he kept his jacket open, they weren't bulging so noticeably.

With bacon and scrambled eggs on his plates, Joa reached immediately for his cutlery and eyes his plate hungrily. "Now, get into my belly!" He declares and starts hurriedly shoveling the food into his mouth, not wasting time with such trivialities like manners or making it look pretty. They had probably less than five minutes now, some sacrifices needed to be made for the good of stomachkind.

It took less than two minutes for Joakim to finish his plate, and within this time Ann has left the table. He washed it all down with a glass of milk, and punched himself in the chest, letting out a small burp after eating so fast. "Sorry," he apologizes his complete lack of manners, but doesn't seem too heartbroken over it himself. "'Twas good, but if the breakfasts are normally meant to be this short, they definitely aren't meant to be enjoyed." Joa hoped that this was just a special day with special circumstances, and during other days he would be given the chance to enjoy his food. Perhaps even have a cup of coffee, if they served them to the minors over here. Around the this time Ann returns and sits down again with the lot of them, as silent as ever, but with a smile that passed as another greeting. Joa can't help but feel curious for the reason of her silence, wondering if he will ever find out. But then again, it was also none of his business.

"So," he starts as he pulls the apple from his pocket, and turns it around in his hand, "mandatory question time. What can you guys do?" He eyes curiously Jameson and Ann, and then reaches to ruffle Alicia's hair, "I already know what she can do, but I wanna know about you guys. Obviously there is a reason why all of us are here. What makes you part of the weird kids?" He finally lets go of Alicia hair, obviously pleased with himself for managing to make a bit of a mess of it, and bites down on the apple. He chews it for a second, before adding; "I'll show mine if you guys show yours, savvy?"

This was the last thing Alicia expected for their small group of breakfast eaters. She managed to take one bite of her eggs before she felt Joa's hand on her head ruffling her hair that she had spent a good amount of time fixing this morning. She stopped mid chew and stared at the plate in shock until he released her hair. She didn't have to check to know her hair was out of place and a bit messy. She could FEEL it... Her fork clatters to the plate as she swallows the bite of eggs she just had. She didn't hear Joa's final words but she did look at him with a pouty expression that showed how upset she was at this 'betrayal'. Her eyes weren't angry or even really sad, just hurt as if he just killed her best friend in front of her. She stands up rather quickly, keeping a locked gaze with Joa as her eyes actually water a bit. Alicia doesn't say a word but swiftly turns and flees from the dining hall right away heading for the stairs to get back to the dorms and get her brush. She would fix it, it would be ok... but she would definitely not get to eat if she wants to not be even later to the backyard summons. This is genuine overreaction to be sure but it's real enough to her. She prides herself in looking and behaving as perfect and proper as she can manage... it was what her mother taught her to do and to Alicia it was a critical part of honoring her mother's memory and it is what she is most comfortable with in the absence of her parents

♫ Now Playing: 07. 'Morning'

Eden's unusually lithe body shimmied through a rather claustrophobic metal tube. It was really more of a prism, or polyhedron, to be technical, but she shimmied nonetheless. It was also rather dark, and this made it rather difficult to find her way, she had tried turning around once after realizing she hadn't unlocked the bathroom door, but only got lost in the process, so from this point her only route was out. She felt around with her hands out in front of her, wary of any potential downward facing ducts in the AC shafts. Warm air warned her of any origin ducts, and the occasional vent offered her a glimpse of her location. Eventually, Eden came upon a large vent beneath her, overlooking the kitchen; The tantalizing smell of fresh foods and the slightly less tantalizing smell of reheated foods wafted up at her through the grating.
She popped open the easy access hinging and, contorting herself rather tightly in preparation, lowered herself legs first into the kitchen.
Eden's feet dangled in the air, between a fryer and a set of line cooks, before she pusher herself out of the vent and dropped softly to the floor, without so much as a noise. this naturally didn't stop the cooks from noticing her, a few shooting her accusatory glances as though she'd severely interrupted their business.

"I'm leaving, I'm leaving. . ."

She muttered halfheartedly under her breath, ducking her head and scuttling through the maze of stainless steel and stained white tiles. Eden eventually found her way through to the serving counter, and then out the half-dutch door to the dining room. She walked along the wall, her hand idly feeling up the rough texture of faux cinder blocks that made up the dining room walls. Her eyes slowly scanned the room, over top of unfamiliar heads and bodies, looking for anyone she knew. She immediately spotted a head of unusually tall, unkempt dirty blonde hair.
Eden quickly made her way around the throng of people assuming the dining tables, skirting around the outside wall to avoid having to walk through too many of them. She found her path of least resistance and made a hurried beeline towards the table of four, doing an incredibly awkward-looking speed walk towards the others. She got within distance and forcibly shifted Ricchon's gravity just enough to the right to get him to fall harmlessly into Ann, allowing Eden to seat herself in the newly opened space next to Ricchon, which she did. It was a little cramped, but the table would probably even itself out eventually.

"Hey."

While studying the group from afar, Ricchon's thin and serious lips could sometimes be categorized as a smile. He had mostly minded his own business; eating, brooding and plotting, until he suddenly fell sideways. It had happened before, but he had not expected Eden to do this during breakfast. Ricchon had little time to think however, and kicked the table with his long legs in surprise. He flailed around for something to grab, but seeing how neither the table nor the cutlery could hold his weight, he left them behind, and turned. Facing his inevitable fate, he froze. When Ann Marie's soft shape dampened his fall, Ricchon grabbed the seat and the table hard enough not to smother Ann Marie completely. Only an inch away from her pretty face, he could smell her scent, causing him to swallow dryly. It was as if coming so close to Ann Marie was worse than falling into the unknown, though it felt heavenly to stare into her blue depths of beauty. He said nothing. He barely breathed. He only stayed still, waiting for something to wake him up from this dream, or was it a nightmare?

Ann looked to Joa at his question, uncertain how to answer it when she could barely control it. She frowned when he ruffled Alicia's hair, sending the young girl off to clean up her appearance before she started to write on her notepad. She didn't notice Ricchon until he ran into her, knocking them down as Eden came and took a seat. He was clearly as surprised as she was, staring at her just as she stared back at him before a blush stole up her cheeks and she had to look away from his chocolate eyes. When she did, she stiffened, going pale as fear shot through her at the sight of one of her creations, Popeye. She had called up the sailor without thinking about it and now all she could think was to hope that he wouldn't hurt anyone as the sailor man reached to get them both upright again. She took a breath then got up to take the now singing creation out of there and away from anyone he could hurt. She had to try to make him go away despite the trembling that showed how scared she was at this. She had been doing so well, calling only small animals and things that wouldn't cause too much damage for so long, until this. She grabbed a coat and went outside, slipping it on without letting go of him until she got to the tree in the yard. She paused there and turned to study the creation. He had come out to help her and he hadn't hurt anyone. Maybe she was better at this than she thought, but she certainly wasn't going to fool herself into thinking he was harmless. Cartoon creatures couldn't know that people got hurt a lot easier in the real world, though this did raise the question on if they would obey her or not. Talk about facing your fears, this was like being tossed into the deep end of the pool to learn to swim only if she didn't learn, others would be hurt, not her.
