At some point in the night, during a late airing episode of "The Twilight Zone", Creed slipped off into sleep. It was a surprisingly good sleep, and he felt awake and rested at dawn. When he got, he stretched and looked out the window that had been piled with snow just a couple days ago. The demons in Hopefalls were getting out of control, and although he wanted nothing more than to fight them and beat them into submission, he decided that a much needed vacation was in order. He would ask Helaine as soon as she got up if she wanted to go. He whipped out a map and studied it briefly. He wanted to go somewhere as far away from Hopefalls as possible. Also somewhere that would take his mind off all of this, at least for a little while. He ran his index finger along the map until he got to Florida, Orlando to be exact. It take about two days to get there, maybe a little more.

He got a suitcase together and got the keys to his 2011 Cadilliac it was a great car for long roadtrips. Luxury, comfortable and such a smooth ride that it wouldn't even wake a baby. He threw his things in the trunk then went back inside to see if Helaine was awake.

Helaine was up and had showered, before grabbing a few pop-tarts for breakfast. "Are you kidding...? Disneyworld? I've always wanted to go there. And yes, I will keep myself from falling apart during the roadtrip just to get faaaaaaar away from this hell-hole town." She promised, looking more animated and happy than she had in well... a while! She felt pretty giddy acutally just from the idea of getting out of this state!

"And I have some money in the bank I should probably take with me..." She added. It was just 300 bucks. Not a whole lot, but enough to see her through at least the roadtrip and get a souvanier at Disney.

Creed had just finished packing the last of his things when he saw Helaine. She was ready and looked happier than ever. It made him feel good, and at the same time relieved, that such a small thing could raise her spirits so much. At some point he wanted to tell her that he felt bad for using her, felt bad for almost getting her killed...but another part of him wanted to exploit her powers more. She was a valuable weapon, not only as the hunter she was, but as bait for the demon masses that seemed to gather in Hopefalls.

"Alright, sounds like a plan. We'll go to your bank before hitting the road then."

Creed made sure to pack his black duffel bag. He carried it with him everytime he left town. In it were various weapons, as well as a cross, holy water and a few other things that he used for Demon defense. He wasn't expecting any trouble, but as him mother always said ' better safe than sorry'.

HE fired up the powerful cadilac engion and juiced the gas, sending a powerful 8 cylinder vibration throughout the car. He slammed it in reverse, backed out of the driveway, and headed towards the bank.

Helaine's mood couldn't have been lighter that day as she fastened her seat belt. Once at the bank,she withdrew $300, putting the money in her wallet. She'd saved up a lot from working. It still felt weird -not- to be at work just then, but she figured she could always find another job- if things ever settled down in Hope Falls. What was it about her powers that attracted so many monsters directly to her? Was it the energy of it? The intensity? Or were they all streaking towards her somehow knowing she'd end their existence even as they tried to end hers. It was such an ongoing circle, that for a moment she worried even being out of Hope Falls wouldn't make a difference, but . . .so far all seemed peaceful. Maybe things would turn out okay, maybe even fun in Florida. She'd never been outside the city limits, having never been able to afford a bus ticket or plane ticket thanks to rent.

Helaine filed away her thoughts for later as she looked at Creed with a guarded smile. "Alright. Let's get out of this Hell Town." She said, turning up a rock station on the radio.

Creed smiled back at Helaine. It was good to see her smile. It made him feel a little less guilty about everything that had happened. He got on the main highway and headed southeast towards Florida. The further south they drove, the warmer it got. Soon, all the signs of winter faded into the rearview. Creed was happy to be leaving Hopefalls, even if just for a week or so. Creed set the cruise control for 75 and reclined in the leather seats. Signs and small roadside shops passed, until Creed noticed a sign for a place called "All you can eat" , four words that made his stomach rumble.

"Wanna, stop and eat." Said Creed, he realized that he had already eaten a large breakfast, but being a hunter was hard work.

Helaine nodded, "Sure. It's about lunchtime I think." She said, making sure her hair covered her injured neck and that her clothes were still able to hide the cast she had around her ribs. She was healing yes, but it seemed to take a much longer time than previous injuries had. Perhaps because she'd had such a despondent feeling in the last few days? Perhaps it was just the fact this recent attack had been incredibly brutal, but whatever reason, she was just happy to get out of Hope Falls. She'd been watching the scenery get prettier as well. It was certainly encouraging to know that other places weren't so full of doom and gloom as her own home town.~

Creed instinctively went to Helaine's side of the car to open the door for her. It wasn't special treatment, just the way he was raised; Old fashioned. He offered her a hand out and proceeded to escort her to the diner. Outside, the place looked like little more than someones old barn with a fresh coat of paint slapped on the outside, but as soon as they entered, Creed saw that this place was quite special. As soon as they entered, Creed saw a long display counter showcasing every variety of pie on earth, or so it seemed. They had everything from Lemon to strawberry rhubarb. The smell of bacon and fresh baked pastries came from the kitchen as a friendly voice called out for them to sit wherever they liked. This must be heaven, thought Creed as he led Helaine to a seat by the front window.

Soon after they sat and Creed had a moment to enjoy the view, the waitress came to their table.

"What can I get for you." She said smiling at them both.


Creed, no gentleman when food was involved, ordered first.

"I'll take three poached eggs with a side of bacon and sausage. An english muffin, well toasted, and some hash browns." The waitress turned to Helaine, but Creed wasn't finished "Also, a short stack of those buttermilk pancakes, no make that a tall stack, and for desert a slice of blueberry pie and apple pie, with vanilla ice cream."

He finished just in time to see the look of amazement on the waitresses face, Creed blushed slightly "I'm a big eater." he said looking at Helaine and smiling.

The waitress chuckled good naturedly, and turned to Helaine finally. "And you miss, what would you like?" Helaine smiled, looking over the menu. "Two cheese and mushroom omelettes with a side of hash-browns, and sausage please. Oh and a glass of chocolate milk? We've been traveling a while, we're both probably just starving." She explained without pause. Definitely Helaine felt better since leaving Hope Falls.. which she felt should be renamed as Hopeless Falls. There wasn't anything worth going back there for. And she especially liked the idea of living in Florida, maybe there were more normal people there? If there were any supernatural beings they couldn't be as numerous or deadly as the ones they'd left behind...

right? God, she really, really hoped not.

When the food arrived it nearly took up the whole table. Creed was surprised, and impressed, that Helaine had ordered two omelets. He liked a girl that could eat. infect, the more time he spent with her, the more he realized he was beginning to like her. Creed took an extra large bite of hash browns to distracted him from his thoughts. His relationship with Helaine was work related, nothing more. If he was to develop feelings for her it would only bring trouble. This he was sure of.

Creed plowed through the breakfast, then looked at his watch. It was a quarter to eleven. He paid then they left. Creed put the peddle to the metal and by the time dusk spread across the sky they were well away from Hopefalls.

"You ready to stop for the night." Said Creed, wondering if he should get his own room or just separate beds at the hotel.

"Stopping sounds good. I'm pretty tired," It had been a long drive, after all, and she was looking forward to any sort of bed! She didn't really care if she slept in the same one as Creed-- as iffy as that might seem! It would be preferable to share a room, as Helaine explained, than to be randomly attacked in the middle of the night. Hopefully nothing was going to happen and she was just being paranoid, but she hadn't a clue how things were outside of Hope Falls! Better safe than sorry as the saying went.

The sun sank low in the sky, casting an orange reddish light over the horizon. It shone in Creeds eyes making him squint and pull the sun visor down. The last few hours or so had been on a more or less straight road. Nothing much of interest on either side of the highway, save for an occasional 'last chance' gas station or Diner, like the one they had stopped at for lunch. When Creed saw a sign that said " Food-gas-lodging" next exit. He immediately got into the furthest right lane and flipped on his signal.

Creed pulled up to the motel and got out, stretching his arms and legs. Nothing like eight hours plus of driving to stiffen up the muscles. He walked in and paid for a single room with two beds. Again he thought briefly if this would be awkward for Helaine, but then decided that she probably wouldn't want to get a room alone.

"I got the room, Helaine. Two beds with a view of the mountains to the west" He paused "I think they have a hot tub and heated pool here too.

Creed was excited, because after tonight they would be in Orlando. He loved Disney. "Land of Tomorrow" was by far his favorite part of the entire theme park.

Helaine smiled. "Two beds, one room is perfect." She assured him, walking over to her bed with her single suitcase. She laid out a set of pj's that were ironically covered in her favorite childhood Disney Character: Simba, from Lion King over the soft blue cotton material. But then she was confused. "Hm.. should we go use the hot tub first? It would help both of our muscles I think." She offered, also excited about going to Disney World, the next day! She felt Magic Kingdom and Epcot Center would be her favorites. Easily! But for now, that hot tub sounded like paradise just by itself!

Creed laid his suitcase on the bed and unzipped it. Inside were about a weeks worth of clothes as well as toiletry bag and about two dozen pairs of socks. He always packed way too many socks. He pulled out a pair of trunks and his towel and headed to the bathroom to change

Although it was slightly warmer here than it would be in Hopefalls this time of year, if the pool and hot tub were outside they would be outta luck as it would no doubt be in the freezing temperatures tonight. He briefly flashed on Hopefalls, and not for the first time in his life realized it was the source of all his troubles. The town was cursed, it, like Helaine, attracted evil. He knew in his heart that as long as he remained there he would be a solider at war.

He shook his temporary thoughts of defeat from his mind and turned to Helaine.

"C'mon lets go Helaine" He said taking her hands in his and pulling her towards the door.

Helaine grinned at Creed's enthusiasm, and went with him, dressed only in a green one piece swim suit, and a long fluffy white robe, she was glad when they got to the hot tub, and hung her robe up before sinking in the hot, soothing water, letting the bubbling jets ease a lot of knotted muscles in her back. It felt great, and she was okay with leaning back and relaxing the entire time, closing her eyes and feeling relieved no scary monster-anythings had popped out- not once! If luck held out, then Hope Falls was the only place in the world that the monsters came after her. . .but sometimes, Helaine had to doubt her luck with everything she'd been through.

The hot water was just what Creed needed. It took away all the stress and tension that had been building up inside him, as well as the anxiety about Hope falls.

"That settles it." Said Creed "I am getting one of these put in at my house as soon as we get back."

He dunked his head underwater and wet his hair back. He came up and looked at Helaine as steam rose up all around them. For that moment, he thought that Helaine had never looked more beautiful in all his life. He felt a sudden surge of feelings for her and decided that now was the time to tell her what he had been holding inside since he had found out about her powers.

"Helaine." He said, then paused searching for the right words. " Since I discovered that you attracted demons, I have been wanting to exploit your powers. To draw them out so I could eradicate them from Hope falls. I feel like I have been dishonest and using you for bait." Creed paused again searching her face for reaction "Even if My interest in you started off as that, I want you to know that...now I truly do have feelings for.....


Just then a noisy group of college kids, on spring break no doubt, rushed in causing Creed to jump a little. It was apparent that years as a Demon hunter had made him edgy.

He laughed at his nerves then smiled at Helaine.

"I don't know, just wanted to say that I enjoy being with you is all."

"I like spending time with you too, Creed... and I haven't felt exploited. I just... I wish I wasn't so much trouble. I hate my power because all it seems to do is destroy the monsters only after I'm unconscious or injured... it doesn't feel very useful at all." She sighed wistfully, wishing that Hope Falls was as far from her mind as possible. After all... they had more pleasant things to talk about, since they were vacationing. She smiled again, especially glad the hot water seemed to be helping to get rid of any soreness. "Anyway... I'll try not to worry about anything while we're vacationing." She said, resting her head on his strong shoulder. Ever since she'd first met him, she'd felt safest while close to Creed.~

" Your powers are very unique, as well as useful. It is my belief that they are the key to what ever has cursed hope-falls. All the demons and evil that lurks there is a part of something larger, something worse. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but with your help I think we have a chance to defeat it." He paused, realizing that this was not the time or place for this, but at the same time Creed knew that he was never going to be able to fully relax until Hope Falls was safe.

As Helaine rested her head on his shoulder, all thoughts of Hope falls left his mind, as did the noisy college kids. He brushed her hair back and eased her head up slightly so they were at eye level with each other.

"Helaine." Creed said, moving slightly closer to her, closing the gap between their lips ever so slightly. "I…." He was just about to make his move when the Hotel manager bursted in the door announcing that the pool was closed for the night, and that they could visit the diner for a late night snack if they wanted, but the pool was closed and they had to go.

For once in his life, Creed was not hungry for food. He got out of the hot tub and helped Helaine out, handing her a towel and walking with her back to their room. It was probably for the best, they had a long drive tomorrow.

Helaine laughed, but she was completely serious about Creed. And how she felt about him. When the manager interrupted them, it had almost felt like they were close to kissing! She wouldn't have minded at all, but for now, she settled on leaving the hot tub, pulling on her robe, and walking with him back to the hotel room where they could talk in peace... "Creed... just ..... if you want to date....... I'm definitely okay with that." She told him, still staring at him... She couldn't leave this situation in awkward suspense any longer. There were definitely potential romantic feelings between them. It was Hope Falls that kept them distant, because of the monsters. But while they were away.... it felt like they could really get to know each other better, with a lot less chaos!~

Creed walked with Helaine, enjoying the crisp breeze that was blowing from the north. Although a shallow cloud cover had blown in, there was just enough of the moon's light shinning through to illuminate the stairs up towards the room. Creed felt Helaine's arm brush against his and he got that small tingle again. It was something he hadn't felt in a long while, since he had taken on the job of a full time Demon hunter in Hope falls he had little time for anything else, including relationships.

"Date..?" Creed nearly choked. He had been taken off guard, he felt out of his element for a change, and for a guy that was usually on top of his game it caused him to get slightly flustered. He opened the door and walked in, closing it back and locking it after Helaine was inside.

"Well, um actually…I have thought about that, but really I haven't had much time to date recently, but while we're away from Hopefalls, I guess we could spend more time together. Since we'll be together all the time" He let out a nervous laugh " I like you, but maybe we should take things slow" He was talking to Helaine and walking back towards the bed at the same time. In an instant his legs left the floor as he tripped over the small table by the bed. His body hit the floor evenly with a solid thud and white stars formed around his eyes.

"I'm alright." He said. The truth was, he felt something more than just a simple attraction to Helaine, and honestly it frightened him. He had been alone for so long he had forgotten what is was like to be loved and cared for.

From the angle he was in, on the floor, he could see out the window. Just across the street a neon sign was flashing "Eat at Sam's open 24 hours"

"You want a date? Fine lets go right now." He got up as if nothing had happened "Are you hungry?"

Helaine smiled a little, seeing that Creed could feel things outside of hunting and business. She walked with him out to that Sam's place, taking a seat in a booth right across from Creed. "Honestly, I don't mind starting slow. I'm a bit...inexperienced about dating as well." She assured him. Just because she'd had lots of boyfriends in the past, meant nothing now. Especially when she spent all her time and energy hunting while in Hope Falls, dates were just not in her schedule planner. And honestly, she'd like to know what being loved and cared for felt like as well.

Soon a friendly waiter approached their table, and took their orders. Helaine settled on a cheeseburger with french fries, wondering if Creed was starving like he'd been earlier that afternoon. She'd always heard most guys had a lot bigger appetites than females, but sometimes that was debatable with her, depending how long she'd last eaten. And she'd worried about when he'd fallen over after she'd randomly asked him to date... was that bad of her? She wondered, she felt awkward now, but determined to see this through, and more from just curiosity. She'd had the strangest magnetic pull towards Creed from the first night she met him, after Seth was killed..~
