Upon the announcment that they would be seperated at night, Rika clung to him. She then frowned and said that she didn't know enough to do something...but he didn't hear what it was. It was that, or she didn't say what exactly it was she couldn't do. But when he asked her his question the red head simply looked down to her feet and said it was nothing. Lysander was about to take a step forwards but, before he could, the earth mage cursed and asked about her plants. That if Kiren had ruined her chance to have her own garden she could and would kill him herself. Lysander looked at her and blinked in surprise for a moment then smiled and looked at her angry expression.

"Don't worry...once the barrier is up and they establish an extra guard, you will get your plot back. But for now, My aunt has your other plant...the one you can have in here. Oh and...since you'll be staying in a close proximity with some fire mages...be careful...."

The crowd that moved around the two seemed to be trying to pull them apart.

"I better go...you too. Or else we are going to get shooed by a teacher...is there anything else at all Rika...?" he asked, looking at her curiously. A happy, reassuring smile on his lips.

Rika's expression softened. "Good...I need my plants..." She ignored the part about fire mages, knowing that they were no longer as threatening as Kiren was. She clung to Lysander a few moments, before he mentioned a teacher getting involved.

"One more thing..." Rika said and she reached up to put her arms around his neck. "I was happy you came...that it was you and not him..." She whispered in his ear, before she let go of him and scampered off. She disappeared into the crowd, moving swiftly to find Lydia and her plant. All she could think about was reassuring herself that the plant was indeed safe.

"What're we gonna do, boss?" Asked one of the younger members.

Kiren smiled. "We wait until the hubub dies down...then we sneak back on and plant some bombs, killing the ones that get in our way." He took out his pocket knife, envisioning Rika trembling before him, helpless and alone. He sneered, happiness infusing him at the thought. "The little bitch is mine." He said, eyes flashing to look at all his crew, individually warning them off.

Lysander couldn't stop the way his heart sped up once she put her arms around his neck. She thanked him for coming for her in the tower. That it was him and not Kiren. She quickly then pulled away and took off, navigating her way though the crowd. The woman may not be touching him now but he could still feel where her skin brushed against his own. His own heart skipping a beat as he processed the feeling. It wasn't something he was familiar with. Lysander swallowed a lump in his throat before turning on his heel and walking back out towards the head mistress.

========================================================

Ever since the Head Mistress had announced the seperation of males and females, she had looked for The student. having lost sight of her on the mass migration over here. Looking around, Lydia held the plant carefully but close to her, calling out.

"Rika...! Rika...!"

Rika popped up behind Lydia. "Miss Lydia!" She hugged the woman around the waist. "Will you be rooming with us?" She asked, pulling away and moving to stand in front of her. She looked around the crowd, frowning in thought. She could still feel some heat in her limbs from where she had hugged Lysander. A slight heat rose to her cheeks.

Lydia practically jumped out of her skin when she felt arms around her waist along with her name being called out. Despite being surprised, she clung tightly to the plant, not wanting to drop it. Then a familiar voice asked if they would be rooming with "us". After she had pulled away, Rika came around and looked at her, a slight frown on her lips. She then saw a slight blush across her face. A wide smile came across her face.

"Who is us...? Eh? Oh, do you mean my nephew you have been clinging to? Charming is he not?" she asked, teasing her, it being obvious that she was doing so.

Rika's eyes widened. "No, I meant the other girls on the second floor." Her blush deepened in color, ashamed she had been so obvious about her attraction to the young man.

"I, uh...I...I'm sorry." She looked down at her feet, brushing her hair out of her face and putting her arms around her chest. She waited to be scolded and told to forget about him. She winced.

"Boss, did you at least plant the toxin for Rika?" A younger of the group spoke up.

Kiren leaned forward, slapping the kid across the head. "What do you think you idiot? I wouldn't have left if I hadn't of started something!" He smiled. "The second she screamed at me, it should have entered her system...." He grinned. "Too bad most of it would have dissipated by the time the staff got there." He waved a hand in dismissal.

"How long do you think it will take?" A different kid squeaked out the question.

Kiren looked at him menacingly. "You want to try a dose and let us know?"

Lydia laughed as she heard the girl and saw the blush deepen, becoming a shade of red she had never seen before. Not only that, but something in her expression pointed towards guilt or shame. As she looked down at her feet she apologized, stuttering. It was obvious she was nervous, seemingly ashamed that she was attracted to Lysander, her nephew. A warm smile came across her lips as she spoke to her.

"I know what you meant Rika...I was just teasing you. And there is no need for you to look so ashamed! He could use a woman's touch in his life. My poor nephew has been rather stubborn when it comes to courting...much to the dismay of his father. Sure, there is a difference in class, but I am not going to tell anyone.."

She winked at the woman, as if to promise her that her secret was safe.

"And yes...I will be up there. Shall we go?"

Rika smiled. "Well...okay." She breathed a sigh of relief. This was quite unexpected for her. She was unused to such kindness. Also, that she would be accepted even with the differences in class, thrilled her. "One day, I'll be worthy." She muttered.

"I'm ready when you are." She followed the woman, pondering over her hug with Lysander. Her cheeks remained a slight pink.

The boy cringed. "That's okay boss. I'm cool"

Kiren played with his pocket knife while he answered, "Give it a few hours and she'll experience the fever...then the heart-racing....then, a complete change in emotion...before you know it, they will have a dead mage..." He smirked. "This will be the first official field test for this weapon."

Smiling brightly she nodded and turned around.

"I am sure you will be, but no need to worry anyways. I don't think Lysander will ever be betrothed or married to one of those city girls. They are much too stuffy for him."

Turning on her heel, she walked up the stairs. Seeing the Infirmiry was open for a place to stay she directed Rika there, a few other cots set up in the room along with the real bed.

"Pick where you want, I will stay on one of the Cots." she said, turning to look at Rika.

"Hmmm....I'll take a cot." She said, blushing slightly when she finally realized she was still in her pajamas. She flopped onto the cot. "I'm glad they're too stuffy for him." She smiled. Heat infused her and she pulled the blanket on the cot up to her chin.

The woman, still dressed in her Tank top and short shorts shivered. Only now just realizing how cold she was. It was the beginning of November and she didn't have anything else with her to cover up. Lydia went over to the Cot Near Rika, but close to the door and took the blanket off of it. The brown haired teacher wrapped it around her, it instantly starting to heat up he. Lydia looked back to her when she said that she was glad Lysander didn't like the stuffy City girls.

"You and me both, someone like that becoming my darling Nephew's betrothed or wife would drive me crazy. They expect too much and are much too uptight...but I'm not going to lie. I didn't think he would have someone intreasted in him before the school year starts. Good thing you jumped the gun before some of his stuffy admirers show up...but between me and you, don't let them scare you off. Lysander won't court them and I'd hate for him to be alone for the rest of his life."

She then fell back onto her cot, cuddling up the blanket. Lydia was awake long enough to hear Rika's voice if she should respond to her comment. But it wasn't long before before she dozed off, exausted.

Rika listened to her words. She pondered them...wondering if Lysander even liked her. She quickly fell asleep, hoping for breakfast to come quickly so she could see him again.

The rest of the night, Lydia slept rather peacefully. Despite and because of all the chaos in the middle of the night, she was exausted. There was a knock on the door, startling her out of her sleep. Sitting up in bed she went over to the door, ready to unleash her pent up earth magic should the person at the door threaten or attack her. Pulling open the door she saw it was the Nurse, coming back to the room to rouse them for breakfast. Nodding in understanding she turned around and went over to Rika, slightly shaking her to wake her up.

"Rika...Rika...It is time for breakfast..."

Rika opened her eyes slowly. She was oddly sore...she suspected it was from all the excitement the night before. "I'm up." She swung her legs over the cot, standing with a groan. "I'm starved." She laughed as her stomach growled and she looked down in embarrassment. She reached into her pack, grabbing a change of clothes, crawling under her blanket to change in privacy. The next time she stood, she was fully dressed.

"Breakfast?" She asked Lydia.

Lydia took the clothes that the nurse handed her. They were clothes featched from her own quarters in the teachers dorms. The teacher's dorms were on the top floor, right next to the Head Mistress's office and living space. It was skin tight, brown leather pants with a slim, form fitting long sleeved green shirt with a matching brown leather sleeveless, form fitting vest. Her knee high boots were a slightly darker brown. As Rika changed, so did she. But with her hourglass figure, Lydia had never been shy about her own body. So, with Rika changing underneath her blanket, she changed just as quickly as the young woman had. When Rika stood up, Lydia turned to her and nodded.

"Yeah, Let's go."

Going back downstairs the huge dining hall had been cleared of the Men's Cots and the tables had been slid back into perfect posistion. The tables were dressed to the brim with delicious smelling foods. Looking around she saw Lysander sitting next to a familiar figure. A woman about his age with perfect blonde hair. Lydia leaned in closer to Rika and pointed him out.

"He is sitting over there..."

"Ah," Rika said coughing. Her face was flushed from the climb down the stairs and towards the dining hall. "Thanks." She walked over to Lysander, smiling slightly. She was wearing jeans and a simple white blouse. Sitting down, she put her hands to her face, surprised when her fingers felt cool. "Morning." She grinned as she looked at Lysander. She looked around the dining hall with little interest.

Lysander didn't hear or see Rika approach. As much as he liked his new Red headed comrade, one of his old childhood friends had arrived at the school for her schooling with his father who had been called here to start the magic shield right away. Her name was Nora and he had knew her since he had moved away from the city to the small town. Nora was one of the local mage aristocrat's daughter. She had beautiful blonde hair, a clean complexion, deep green eyes, and pretty pink lips. Being raised in a small town, like him, she wasn't an uptight city girl. All of a sudden he heard a good morning and looked up to see the pretty country red head. Lysander smiled at her, noticing something was off about her...her cheeks so red this early in the morning and there was something else. The Magic that flowed within him screamed it to him...but she didn't act like anything was wrong. So he shook it off and grinned back at her.

"Morning Rika, how are you? You sleep okay? Because you look a little...flushed..."

"Yeah..." Rika mumbled, she suddenly felt cold. "Who's this?" She eyed the new stranger warily. Her hand reaching out to grab the cup of water in front of her. Rika took a drink, her mouth uncommonly dry. She shrugged it off, accounting it to the panic she had expressed last night.

~~~
Kiren walked around the room, kicking the boys awake. "Hey, get up you lazy scumbags!" He was gnawing on a haunch of meat from the tavern connected to the inn.
He had tried to shake it off but it was eating at him since he had. Something wasn't quite right with Rika this morning. Lysander wished he could put a finger on it but there wasn't any use right at the moment, seeing as Rika had asked him about the woman sitting next to him. Smiling happily he looked over to her then back the the earth mage.
"This is Nora...She is a childhood friend of mine and a Air mage. She arrived this morning with my dad who was escorting her here since he had to come anyways...the council is working on the Shield now. It will be done in and hour or two...." he said, trailing off. Looking at her from across the table, his hands reached out and touched her unnaturally cold skin. He frowned. "Tell me the truth Rika...you feeling okay?"
There was a tone of concern in his voice and in his bright blue eyes.
Rika flinched slightly at his touch, it feeling warm to her. "Yes" She answered quickly, biting her lip and looking at Nora. "I'm going to go try and some food..." She muttered, standing. She did not like the girl nor the competition she represents. She walked over to the table that held all the food for the students. Picking up a pear she bit into it, still feeling flushed and cold. She wondered what could have caused it. She shook her head, her thoughts growing foggy as she wandered slowly back to the table where Lysander and Nora were sitting. She put her pear to the side, just watching them and their conversation. They seemed to converse easily.
