Connor's heart jumped. He was going to get to go back, and make amen-... finish his mission. And he could see how he was going to do it, right in front of him. Avatar cards. He didn't know what they were, what they did, or if they were safe. But there wasn't any choice. He fighting against an enemy that was larger and more powerful than him, and he needed every weapon possible to win.

But as Connor reached for the card, his Hidden Blade, his own power, glinted in the soft light of this world between worlds, catching his eyes and reminding him of the lessons he learned long ago.

He'd always called it a tool of the people. Nothing setting him apart from the ones he was trying to protect from the crossfire. Connor had never shared Haytham or the Templar Grandmaster's opinion that the people needed ruled. In fact, his belief's were almost Assassin in the desire for freedom, not that he would ever acknowledge that to himself or anyone else.

He was scared honestly. From the genetic memories of his father, Desmond has been a hero in the beginning, before The Fall.
Connor was still too naive to fully understand what has caused his Father's slide, instead blaming it on the reasons that the Templars had fed him, lines about power and the duty in handling it. About the ultimate irresponsibility of the common man and how only someone with the right training and preparation could hold power. He'd never listened, instead just using what he had to keep people safe in the only way their kind knew how, with rivers of blood.

It was a choice, and he had to make it. Make it, and don't look back, for it uncoerced and fully his own.

Connor drew his arm back. He'd have to make due with what he had. He turned his back on the power, and all that it represented.

Then he turned and snatched the card up. Dangerous or not, he had a mission. He'd just have to find someone to keep him on the right path. There had to be someone in the wide multiverse.

Poor Icarus. Fly too close to the sun, and fall back to earth for it.

Cameron stared at the Rookie, analyzing the weapon he gave her. It wasn't much, but it was an upgrade. Something that would make her better. More efficient. A better guardian for John. Surprisingly, this was the first time that anyone since the start of this game had cooperated and attempted to work with her. She took the gun slowly, holstering it in the back of her jeans.

"Thank you." She said. It wasn't a stock response. It was a sincere expression of gratitude. Elliot's subroutines had been purged with her execution. She had her mission, and no hidden directives to kill the survivors. She was Cameron again. Just Cameron.

She tilted her head, the strange light of this place lighting up her exo skeleton. The Rookie would be able to see it, not that he would comment on it, knowing him. It was a good question though. Which one of them was the machine? She was forced on a mission, but she had changed it through her own will. He was forced on a mission, and was still following it?

Choices were all you had in the end. You made them, and they made you.

The avatar cards that were left around happened to be all drastically different from each other. Those cards consisted of these...

50px-Moonstone.png

Dimension Witch's Moonstone
(Dimension Witch)

50px-VCInstantjob.png

Badge of the Crow Mercenaries
(Veteran Commander)

50px-BHjc.png

Blazing Heart's Pendant
(Blazing Heart)

50px-At.png

Grand Archer's Textbook
(Grand Archer)

50px-HQ_Shop_Item_242373.png

Dreadlord's Authority
(Dreadlord)

These were the five available avatar cards that they could get in order to be gifted with some nifty powers.

Connor had taken the Badge of the Crow mercenaries when he snatched it up.

Upon grabbing this specific avatar card, it disappeared in his hands, and a new power awakened in the assassin. With a new sensation that radiated from his left arm and basically this new power making home in him, Connor now had the abilities of a Veteran Commander.

The rift that was left behind by Add was still open, which would allow him to return to the living... wherever they may be.

The Rookie gave a small nod, examining the cards before him slowly, analysing the objects that would apparently grant him more power

He reaches for the crow badge at first, to examine it, but finds it snatched up by Connor, he silently examines the Blazing Heart Pendant, and the Dreadlord's Authority for a moment, before replacing the latter

There was almost an audible sound from within the helmet of the heavily armoured male, but it was just a cough, nothing to get excited over

He flipped the pendant around for a moment, feeling heat radiate from it's surface, it was clearly a powerful tool, he had to wonder about the crow badge now, what power could that hold?

He idly places the item around his neck as he glances to the exit, then to Cameron, then to the gun in her hand, he knew it wasn't ideal, but it was all he could offer for now, in an ideal situation, he'd be able to offer a shotgun, or something with a bit more kick, but the gun she now held would quite easily put an end to most foes, armour or none, it was a .50 cal armor peircing handgun, after all

The Valkyrur Witch was at the edge of Defeat. The Once proud Valkyrur Woman was now being assaulted from all sides, by people lesser than her. By people who weren't even of the Valkyrur line. Bullets hit her, shotgun shells hit her, hell, even a bottle cap hit her! The Valkyrur was thrown to the ground. Alicia stood above her. She aimed the rifle. All of a sudden, the Valkyrur woman was back in the lab where she was raised.

Men in white lab coats ran around, taking notes and asking her questions. They fed her, and clothed her. She was attached to various devices, and occasionally they asked her to test her powers on something, usually a dummy or animal. A small girl, in a lab, being used for weapons research. She never saw her parents, she only saw men in white lab coats taking vital signs. She lay in bed at night, not knowing a normal life. She had extraordinary powers, and the Empire wanted them to make themselves stronger. Finally, one day, a man came in. This man was the Emperor's bastard son Maximilian, and the leader of the Gallian Front. He took her, and made her a general in his military court. They were to invade Gallia and take its wealth, and take the Valkyrur weapons they had there.

The Operation was mostly successful.

Mostly.

She fought against a group known as Squad 7 at a fort. She held it down, but they couldn't hold it, despite her powers and the force she had with her. She was killed in battle by Welkin Gunther, Alicia Melchiott, Isara Gunther, and a military squad behind them, just a simple militia, and she was defeated. They honored her in the capital of the Empire, erecting statues and such, but she had still lost to a simple militia.

Selvaria then met an unknown woman in death, one who could give her a second chance to get revenge on Isara, Welkin, and Alicia. To meet them on the battlefield once more. She had failed that as well. She was felled once again. Selvaria stood up. She could right this.

"I will assist you in what you need. I am a woman of my word." She said. She handed Alicia the Shield and Spear. "She is a better woman than myself, but she can back me up on my word as a fellow Valkyrur." Selvaria looked down at the ground. "I did say I would aid you if you defeated me, did I not?"

John looked back at the defeated Valkyrie and smiled. 'Yeah, we did it!' he punched the air. 'Now we've just gotta take out the dogs, and its homeward bound, baby!'
Flagnarmor.gif
The T-800 continued to fire towards the HellHounds' eyes.
John looked up at Selvaria. 'There are some people out there with this virus. Do you know how to cure them, if we can cure them?'

Despite them being virtual strangers to him, John was still concerned for those infected with the Virus.

Obligatory:

"I don't know how to cure the virus." Selvaria said. She picked up a rifle. "I don't even know if it can be cured. I was just a soldier." The woman loaded several rounds into the rifle, and took a shot at the Hellhounds. Alicia readied the Valkyrur Lance and shield.

"Aid?" Eric chuckled. It was all so ironic. One Minuite she's abosultely fearless, willing to die for her pride, and the next she is throwing in the towel in exchange for her dignity. Pitiful. "What is stopping us from ending you right now? If you had commit such crimes anywhere else you would have been given a death sentence, so why not here?"

With the multitude of projectiles shot at this particular hellhound... It was clearly overpowered, howling in total agony before outright bursting into flames.

The flames enveloped the beast, the crackles and pops it emitted drowning out the creature's howls. Soon enough, it was totally consumed, and presumably ripped away back to the same place from which it had come.

One down, two to go, huh?

The T-800 marched towards the Hellounds, pistol whipping one and firing and reloading his remaining rounds towards the creatures' eyes.
John meanwhile charged towards one, forcing his full armoured weight towards the creatures. He launched an armoured fist towards the HellHound's jaw. 'Hasta La Vista, Baby!'

Sins of the Father

Connor gazed upon the portal, feeling his powers rippling through him and into the air around him, scorching the air. His arm was burning, not with pain, but with possibility. He could make things right. This was what it meant to take his destiny into his own hands. This time it wouldn't be like the battle at Masayaf. This time they'd win.

He looked at Cameron.

No. It wasn't going to be the same at all. This time. There would be no obstacle to peace. There would be no Desmond Miles.

Still looking at Cameron, he spoke the words that he had promised to her in exchange for his life. "Its time to go home."

Cameron looked at the Rookie, then grabbed him with her inhuman strength, shoving him through the portal. He was going first, not as a test, but as a repayment, and an insurance policy. If anything went wrong, he'd make it through at the cost of the rest of them. That was the way the Resistance fought. Protecting Connor. If she didn't make it, he'd protect him for her. She knew somehow, a gut feeling in a gut she shouldn't have.

She stopped for a moment, turning to scan the horizons for something. It had to be for incoming threats. It couldn't be sentimentality or a thankfulness at a second chance. She was a just a very scary robot after all.

tumblr_mh26i2UNDJ1ricqlko4_250.gif

She turned and walked through the portal, her heavy step just a bit lighter... John had been right. There is No Fate But What We Make.

Connor stopped and looked too. There wasn't much to see with his normal human eyes, but it didn't feel right to leave this place without some kind of exchange. It wasn't right to take something for nothing. So, in the end he gave the only thing he could give.

"Niá:wen."

Then he Shadow Stepped into the portal. Into their old world, and a new one.

Cameron marched out of the portal, aiming down the sites of her newly acquired pistol. She was a perfect creature, a perfect killing machine. One shot. Two shots. Two shots for two kills.

Terminated.

Connor was a little less graceful, not being used to his new powers. He stepped out of the portal and shadow stepped behind the hellhound, bringing his hatchet down in a quick efficient chop. While he tried to end the one hellhound's life with his blade, he aimed his arm at the other hound and concentrated. A burst of brilliant searing white flame shot out of the tips of his fingers, hopefully scorching it.

The hellhound being attacked by John yelped loudly as his fist collided with the canine's muzzle, causing blood to spray from where it's nose should've been. Growling lowly, it launched off of it's hind legs, leaping up in attempt to dig it's fangs into John's chest. However, this attack was thrown off when Connor launched the flames at it. The dog howled in agony, falling to the ground and flailing in pain. Severe burns littered it's body, and it seemed too severely injured to fight back, at this point.

T-800 shooting at the third hound in the eyes earned a ferocious growl, one of the beast's eyes outright imploding in a gross, slimy mess. Gross! Despite this, after a moment, the hound tried to grab a tight hold of the T-800's leg. Of course, that was before Cameron and Connor barraged it with further attacks, lodging a hatchet in it's back and firing two more bullets into it. Another pained howl filled the air, muffled by the leg caught between the beast's teeth, but it held on as well as it could.

Connor pulled his hatchet out of the hellhound's back with a grunt. It was lodged in there tight, just like he'd been taught. He glanced back at where the injured hellhound lay whimpering, not fooled in the slightest. The moment you looked away from your enemy was the moment it was at your back, plunging his Hidden Blade through your neck, a sloppy kill that left you bleeding out for minutes, choking on your own blood.

VzS9A2N.png

Connor flicked his Hidden Blade out and thrust it into the injured creature's eye, ending its suffering quickly, and eliminating a threat. He turned back to the other hellhound, ready to quickly end its life. But it wasn't neccessary, Cameron was already on it.

She had holstered her weapon, then grabbed hellhound by its haunches and ripped it off the T-800, fake blood spraying in a crimson spray. She flipped it around and more or less hugged it in a death grip, trying to crush it.
The look on her face was terrifying. She wasn't even human anymore.

The hellhound snapped at her face, tearing away flesh with each bite. It didn't matter. Eliminate the threat. Protect John Connor. She gave one final squeeze, straining her servos to their max.

The -800 barely winced as the HellHound was torn off of his leg, but John briefly recoiled in horror. He looked at the resurrected Connor and Cameron. 'B-but you were dead...' He could understand how Cameron could have been rebuilt, but as for the Hoodie....He'd been torn apart in front of him.
'T-888 Infiltration Unit rebuilt. Assumed Non-Hostile.' The T-800 launched his last couple of bullets into the HellHounds hide. He scanned Connor. Organic human. No trace of cybernetic implants. Resurrection unexplained.'

'I think that's his way of saying welcome back. Thanks for helping us back there.'

"Huh... Who brought you back? I'm not complaining. This isn't exactly my Forte." House was currently doing his best to hide.

"Niá:wen. I do not think I would have figured that out on my own." Connor said to the T-800, perhaps a little smartly. He flicked his tomahawk lithely, cleaning it of blood in a fell swing, coincidentally sending most of it in House's direction. Then he idly let it slide down in his grasp before tucking it into its special holster on the upper leggings of his jeans.

"I was brought back by a means unknown to me." Connor lied, all too familiar with the practice from his years of dealing with the most cunning Templas in history. He was naive, but not untalented. "I was torn apart, then suddenly found myself inside the portal with strange powers awoken within me. Then..." Connor waved at the hellhounds, one still struggling futilely in Cameron's iron grip. "Those."

As he raised his hood again for the first time since his scheduling for execution, he spoke to the other Connor of the group. "You're going to grow to be a very dangerous man with a lot of power. Has anyone ever told you that?"

Then when the moment of the fight had completely faded his conversation with John was forgotten. Something much more pressing was on his mind. Something a silent promise was being broken by his inattention. His extremely false calm evaporated as quickly as he had donned it.
"RILEY." He yelled. "RILEY!"

'T-800 Unit is unable to identify possible use of sarcasm.' said The T-800, bluntly.
John, meanwhile, thought about the Hoodie's words. 'What do you know about who I'm going to become?'
There was no Fate but what he made, but he could imagine that what he'd gone through today would be a 'changing' experience.
'And who are you, anyway? Some friend from the future, that I haven't met yet?'

Eric paused, surveying the area. It was funny how far he had come. From Erudite Nose, to initiate, to imitator, to soldier, to leader, to executioner. He readied himself to pull the trigger. The exicutioner preferred to kill his opponents during company far more than he enjoyed the swift, clean methods of murder, however, the b*tch had put up enough of a fight and caused him enough hassle for him to find pleasure in this act.

He pulled the trigger.
It was going to be quick.
Clean
Painless

...

....

He was out of bullets
How
...
Boring

He turned back to face the group who had just assisted him in his kill. A sinister smile grew across the initiators face. "I would honestly like to thank you for your help; for once, I couldn't have done this on my own. Much to my surprise, I actually have a glimmer of respect for you, Ol tin boy. The rest of you deserve much more than my thanks. No, really, you fought just like me. You were dauntless." He froze, realising what he was saying "hey, I don't give out complements like that out to everyone, so you can take it run with it... Cause if you don't...well, I don't need to remind you what you're running from" he pointed towards the burning carcass of the hellhound.

It was at this point that something else caught the dauntless leader's eye; a shining piece of metal poking out of a woman's face. So tall and slender, yet powerful, might and brave. The girl from before, the one who was viciously torn apart by wild animals but hours before hand. "Looks like death really isn't the end..." He muttered. A fear of death was pointless, now even more so.

The hound that Connor jabbed in the eye died near immediately with one last hoarse whimper. It fell limp.. Only to slowly be licked at by flames, similarly to the last canine. Soon enough, it was completely consumed, vanishing altogether.

As for the other hound.. It let out a sharp cry of pain as Cameron grabbed it by the legs, accentuated by a loud 'SNAP!'. Oh, boy... Yeah, there went one of the dog's hind legs; ripped clear off by Cameron's sheer force. The response this garnished was an eardrum-bursting yowl, with the hound in too much pain to try to resist Cameron's rather abrupt death hold on it. The life was quickly squeezed out of it, considering it had already been beat up a good bit, and it vanished in a burst of flame as well.

Connor looked at the other Connor, the one that would more than likely be trying to kill him in the future. It would be so easy to end it right now. With these new abilities, there wasn't anyone that could kill him. But... he was following the Assassin way now, completely in his guise as Desmond Miles. He was using the second tenet of the Creed against the Brotherhood. Hide in plain sight. This was how he would make peace. He was a child of both worlds, and understood more about each side from their contrast with the other.

But, as often happened, he was getting lost in his own mind. Time to answer the boy's question. "I'm not a friend, but we're not enemies. Not anymore." Not yet.
