I've moved the story from its first scene, to its second scene! Here's some information, tips, and so on, about how this works.
SO GET TO WRITING NOW!... And if you can't, for whatever reason, you know, just, like, tell me. N' stuff. Because maybe I can help you do that.
Also, remember collaborative posts are a thing. Use that if you need or want to. It helps.
- The first section is the wrap-up of the first scene. It tells you exactly what caused the scene to wrap up. It is entirely optional to post what your character did during this time, but recommended if you want to get a post in, or want to immerse yourself deeper into the world.
- The second section is the travel section, followed quickly by the new scene. It introduces the area, and the NPC actors on the stage. (In this case: Kouri, various King's Rangers, Mikan, Marcus.) This is where the plot's attention has shifted to, so this is the area where your characters presently are. It is entirely optional how much detail you put into the travel portion (IE: How you got from A to B), but again, if you want to immerse yourself into the world more, do it.
- The third section is the antagonist's POV of the story. It gives you hints and views into what the villains are thinking of, planning, and what they think of your characters. They'll often obsess over Kouri (as that is who they will know and loathe first), especially early on in the story. Later on, as Kouri's necessity to the plot wanes, and your characters grow to have reputations from their past actions, the villains may decide to choose other targets in the player party to obsess over. This is entirely fluff however, and you can skip over it—it only gives you an idea of what the villains are thinking.
- Some scenes will be longer than other scenes. Combat scenes for instances will generally be longer, whereas a brief respite scenes will generally be shorter.
- There are secluded places within scenes. If a scene is an entire area (ex: A tavern), then a secluded place would be a private room within that tavern. Not everybody will always hear or know what everybody else is doing.
- You can write collaborative posts with others about what travel was like on the road. So think along the lines of, say, Marcus & A PC having a chat about politics while walking down a dirt road to scene B. These collabs occur in the past and, so long as they're appropriately marked, shouldn't interfere with the present.
- If you have no idea where you are or what to do, just ask in the OOC. I can always pop in to help. I'm like an obsessive fairy god parent or something.
- These travel sections are the most railroaded parts of the RP. They're also unavoidable given the nature of the story if we want to keep a not-shit pacing going. So... Sorry if it feels like I forced you forward too quickly. I try to judge when people are done and a scene is finished. If it ever feels like I'm going too fast through scenes, say so to me, either privately or here in the OOC. I won't know unless you tell me.
- It's been a while since I've done this type of writing. This means the first couple times I introduce scenes, they'll be long winded as I get the hang of things again.
