He is deadly with his hands and more so with a sword. He enjoys time alone being able to wander the forest he lives in but isn't above heading around the country to collect a bit of gold for himself to keep himself alive out in the woods.
The other half of his mind is more animal than man. It enjoys collecting shiny things and being petted when possible. But upon realizing he is being petted, he quickly recoils and acts like it didn't happen. He smells the air constantly and moves his ears about in worry of anything he is doing. His biggest problem though is that a dog whistle can easily incapacitate him

His youth was much spent helping plant seeds to help his parents keep the farm open since he could walk he was there being made to put seeds into holes or pulling potatoes out of the ground. Joseph was unaware that during the year he was born they made a deal for a good year of farming, the witch would cast a spell to keep the farm alive and going, and in exchange, Joseph would be given to the woman. His parents refused, at first, trying to keep the woman from him. The next evening the woman arrived again in hopes of changing their mind.

The parents refused to hand him over a final time and forced the witch out at sword point. Joseph was now treated as an outsider by those who farmed nearby having seen the boy's change and assumed it was a form of black magic refusing to deal with the family any longer.
The farm went out of business with no one agreeing to buy any goods from them and at the age of thirteen his parents agreed to hand him over to the witch, but by then it was far too late. The witch was never found by the family causing Joseph to remain in the state he was in.
