As she lays there in the dirt, she draws one of her knees up. After a moment she slowly pushes herself to her feet. Her hand rests on her forehead as she looks around, some of the dirt falling from the front of her outfit. She was used to being dirty, happens sometimes when you're suddenly kidnapped and dropped out of the sky. Korra turns in a little circle to try and get her bearings… she sees a road. Her blue eyes narrow as she takes a few steps towards the road, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. The road looks… old… worn. She half expected it to have track grooves in them, since that mode of transportation was popular here in the Earth Kingdom.
Of course she has no idea she is no longer in the Earth Kingdom. Or anywhere near it.
She turns again and looks into the forest. There are some flowers she doesn't recognize… how can that be?
"Naga!" She calls out, cupping her hand to her mouth.
"Naga! Come on!" She calls out again. Korra listens for a few moments… nothing. She moistens her lips and brings two fingers to them, and she lets out a loud and shrill whistle. And again, nothing. A pulse of worry drives itself through her being. What if something happened to Naga? What if she's to hurt to respond? Or worse… Korra shakes her head quickly to dismiss that particular line of thought. And she then responds as she usually does when she doesn't know what to do next… with anger and action. Her hands draw up, and then she swings them low at her sides. Her feet draw apart in the dirt just over shoulder length apart. With a grunt she draws her fisted hands up, and the earth under her suddenly shoots upwards with her on it. A column of stone breaks from ground level, and Korra now kneels down on the column. It rises just above the canopy of trees. She squints to try and see better over the trees.
Yep, she has no idea where she is.
Looks like some kinda tower there in the far distance. Almost looks like a fortress to her.
"Fire Nation?" She utters softly. That looks like the kind of tower that one would perhaps find in the Fire Nation. Korra glances down… these don't look like Fire Nation lands. The terrain is wrong for the most part. And it's not warm enough. And the Fire Nation wouldn't have built that kind of ugly tower in Earth Kingdom lands… Korra would have heard of such a thing.
She pivots on her rock tower to get a better look along the road. It looks like it goes mostly through the forest, so she can't see particulars. A soft sigh passes her lips as she stands. She whips her hands downwards and the rock column draws back into the earth quickly. She hops off as the rock tower dissapears into the dirt, as if it had never been there. Going into a light jog, she heads towards the road. Roads lead places, usually. So this will lead her to a place. Some place. Any place.
And so she begins to walk along the road. And walk. And walk. And walk. After about a half hour she considers going back the other way, thinking she made the wrong choice here. But.. she's already come this far.. But after a bit she comes across some ruined ruins. Her head tilts up a little as she passes them, seeing some movement amongst them. To small to be people… probably a cat or a boar-q-pine or something. Korra decides not to intrude on them, it's their house after all. Little does she knows the 'shadows' she sees in those ruins are actually monsters and ghosts. Though she can't quite make out either. Which is probably for the best, since she would want to take on either a monster or a ghost if she had realized what they were. Because… Korra.
And so she continues to walk, plucking up some flowers along the roadside. And absently tearing the petals off and tossing them over her shoulder with boredom.
"How can there be NO traffic on this stupid road? Merchants or… peddlers… or… or bandits. Oh!" She exclaims excitedly. Continuing to hold onto the flowers, she turns and shouts.
"If there are any bandits out there, I'm a lowly girl traveling on a lone road by herself! Come and mug me or something!" She grins as she falls silent, hoping some dumb bandit will take her not well-thought out bait. It would at least give her a little excitement, and maybe an idea as to where exactly she is.
Sadly, no one comes along the road and tries to kill her. Which makes her a little depressed. She probably just scared off any bandits, anyways. They got one look at her and bailed. Yeah, that's prolly what happened. And then a short time would pass… and she FINALLY sees something ahead! Her eyes widen as she grins, and she tosses the remnants of flowers over her shoulder as she jogs towards what seems to be a small village. She's been walking for well over an hour, but she still seems to have as much energy as she did before her venture.
She breaks the tree line and enters the little town, her grin still wide with excitement. And then.. that grin starts to falter.
"uh.." she says softly to herself as she walks along the little town, her eyes scanning left to right for anyone.
"uh…" she says once more as she now frowns. Her hand draws along a wooden fence as she passes it, seeing that there are indeed signs of life here. The crops… and it looks like someone had been working out here not terribly long ago.
"Hey! Where is everyone?! You got a visitor!" She now scowls angrily as there is no response.
"You don't have anything to be afraid of! My name's Korra! I'm not here to rob you! I swear!" Yeah people that want to rob you say that kind of thing. Korra mutters to herself as she comes to a stop, looking around herself slowly. She considers threatening the town, maybe bring down a couple buildings to get people's attention. But that would probably be frowned upon.
She then spots a sign… she squints as she reads it.
"Aleswell… inn… inn?" her eyes widen as she looks in the direction the sign is indicating.
"Oh! Inn! That's probably where everyone is!" she exclaims excitedly and goes into a sprint towards it. She hops up onto the front porch of the inn and flings the door open. She expects to see a crowd of people, perhaps talking amongst themselves or playing games or something. Just congregating.
But… there is nothing…
"OH come on!" she exclaims angrily. She feels her cheeks darken a little with barely held in check anger as she moves deeper into the building.
"Okay come out here right now! Stop hiding from me! I'm not gonna hurt you! I know you're in here!" She shouts at nearly the top of her lungs, anger at the edge of her words. And then a voice is suddenly… right there.
She lets out a shriek as she jumps away from the voice, and cries out as she tumbles over a table. She lands on her back, the table toppling next to her. She grits her teeth, and with a growl she vaults to her feet and draws her fist back, looking in the direction of the voice. Her fist is suddenly concealed under a layer of churning fire. But… there's no one there? A blank look comes across her features as she relaxes her stance, the fire along her fist dissipating a little. And then the voice again. Her gaze flicks in the direction she hears it… and she
does see something there… an outline? Her head tilts to one side, and she brings her hand up now, her palm up. The fire draws from around her hand to her palm, acting as a little candle light.
"Uh… you're… I can't… see you…" She squints, as if that would help her see something invisible. She continues to squint and steps forward, and she kind of reaches out with her other hand over and over, as if to try and feel whatever is there.
"Wait… we?" She says, drawing her hand back and looking around herself. She half turns, and then looks back in the general direction of the voice, holding her flaming flicker of firelight towards it.
"Help you… well.. yeah… I mean that's my job. Helpin people." She says proudly now. She doesn't announce her title, she assumes they would figure out who she is. After all, she's world famous. Practically. Well not exactly world famous, but she is kind of famous. Kind of.
"Do you have any idea what happened to... all of you? How many of you are there?" She feels.. dumb... talking to what some would perceive as thin air. And for a moment she considers the possibility she is at
last in the Spirit World. An idea she would run with, but the fact she can Earth and Fire Bend here kind of quashes that idea.
