Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

If Okami and Seiji don't have anything up by this Thursday, I'm just going to move it forward myself with something from probably a few other characters in their place. I may give extensions if there's a good reason.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Alright. I was just coming to post what the plan was. I would like a response from Seiji to Taxus but perhaps we can do it on a messanger or something if we need to move forward here.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Name: Kelia "Widowmaker" "The Lady"
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Designation: Lieutenant; Caster
Age: 37

Physical Description: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...age=1&ndsp=71&ved=1t:429,r:41,s:0&tx=37&ty=53

Weaponry And Equipment:

Armor: (Shown Above) The armor increases the combat prowness of Kelia, causing her to move faster, and be able to take more mortaly wounding blows. At the same time, due to its design, she looses very little of her mobility. When an enhancement system is activated inside the suit begins to slowly feed off her power and emminates fear to those around her. Through IFF tags her allies are not affected.

Claymore: Claymore rifle that is modified with a 15 round clip, stripped of most unneccesary features, and fitted with a tighter barrel with more rifling.

Katanas: Kelia is armed with two Basic Katanas. Inside each is an enhancement system that allows them to focus her energy on the blade, making it extremly efficent at cutting through all but the toughest and thickest materials.

Channeling Power:

Psychic Force: Kelia's psychic abilities allow her great control over her surroundings. She can do things from pyrotechnics to telekinesis to Cyrotechnics. Her ability is only limited by her knowledge and amount of energy she can control.

Psychic Capacity: Kelia can hold vast amounts of Psychic power, but only for so long.

Psychic Drain: Kelia can force her body into someone, usually her hand, and drain the psychic powers within them. This can cause her great pain, and possible backlash.

Heightened Senses: Kelia psychic powers and species give her senses much stronger than the normal human being.
Healing: Kelia is able to quicken the process by which one is healed, it causes both her, and the one which she is healing, to feel all that pain within the span of a few minutes.

Weaknesses: (YOU MUST HAVE PROPER WEAKNESSES!)

Psychic Overload: If her body is overloaded with energy she will go into a sort of rage, letting off the energy any way she can. Suffice to say there is usually not much left nearby when she is done, and she is usually near death.

Psychic Dependency: If too much of her reserves are used in one moment, she goes into a sort of withdrawal. With her raving, randomly attacking people, and sometimes having short-term memory loss until her reserves are build back up.

Channeling Power: While Kelia's ability to channel vast amounts of psychic energy is better than most, she is more easily susceptible to losing control of it as she reaches her peak capacity. When such an event occurs she will either have something akin to a Psychic overload, or she will go through a period of immense pain as the power leaches out through her body and into the surroundings.

Sanity: At times Kelia's sanity seems to be in doubt. She will occasionally have waves of insanity in which she may cause great amounts of pain to herself and others, or where she may just curl up in a ball and scream.

NOTE: I plan on adding personality and history at a later date.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Welcome aboard Quinn!

I'll get chapter three up tomorrow, hopefully.

For the Upcoming Chapter

Overview Of The Two Main Native Species Of Planet Membros

Varanon: The main inhabitants of the planet membros. They are bipedal reptilian creatures, stronger and normally a few feet larger than your average humans. They do not have tails and their heads are not quite as pointy and long as actual reptilies. Their eyes are mounted more to the sides of their skulls, although not to the extent of most actual lizards, but some species have them further up front, giving them a more predatory appearence. They have strong sense of smell and taste, to compliment their often solid eyesight (thanks to the positioning o their eyes). While they can use their tongues to taste their air, most use their noses nowadays. If they wish to, they can turn something they've smelled into tasteable stimulu. With certain special organs, they can detect the presence of body heat in nearby entities and objects, with some having natural infra-red vision. They often have spine-like growths or bony formations upon their bodies. In some cases they can have both. These can be often found on their arms. There can often be ridges upong their upper bodies, and the spines can stick out from around the back of their upper torsos. Sometimes they can be ejected like projectiles and other times, for the ones sticking out of their arms, used as melee weapons. They also have retractable claws coming from their toes and fingers, sometimes sharpened to a lethal extent. Often, these claws can be used to climb various plant life or to carve up their food prior to consumption. Their language has a strong sense of smooth word flow, punctuated with more jagged inflections. Its written form ressembles a more minimalist and less curvy version of Armenian.

Zerfayll: These bizarre fungal creatures can grow quite large and usually have somewhat bulbuous bodies, often compared to spheres. They can rough and gnarled like that of a tree or mottled, pallid, and sickly like that of a mushroom. Within their sphere-bodies are their biological "command centers": a semi-transparent and almost glass-like spherical construct that houses the creature's vitals. This literal inner self ressembles a mass of writhing and pulsating tissues and organelles, and vein-like organs or strands of tissue that connect from the inner sphere to other parts of their bodies. Their appearences can very heavily. Sometimes they may have 14 arms ending in multi-purpose specialized digits, while other times they may have four large, thick, protrusions ending in thorn like crushing hands, with pointed nodules sticking out along them. Other times they choose to observe the world right from the core, which sometimes is positioned higher up rather than in the center of their bodies. They may have stalks that protrude from all around them, ending in bead-like shapes containing their equivalent of eyes. They may walk on two legs, or what looks like a sea of small, root like legs, or perhaps long root-like extensions that connect to flat platforms under which a plethora of tiny plant-like protrusins carry the creature forth. While they are capable of speakign the varanon language among various others, albeit with often distorted voices and strange pronounciations, they have no real language of their own. They tend to communicate using sub-sonic sound through the shifting of specialized speech organs and chemical messages, along with using strange brushing, cracking, gurgling and other strange sounds.

The Two Factions of Membros

Kohoavtse (Translation: The Ascending Ones)

When the Trans Space Coalition first came to Membros, the Varanon and the various other aliens who lived here, while they were reasonably advanced, were nowhere near the level Humanity, the Cielogente, the Quardarms, the Spherids and the various other species of the T.S.C. were. It was not long before they started setting up shop on the planet and coming increasingly close to its natives, becoming larger and larger parts of their lives. While there were many inhabitants, mostly Varanon, wary of these newcomers, a large majority of the lizard folk actually welcomed them and began cooperating with them. This would change the culture, economy, geography, and just the general world of Membros greatly.

The Kohoavtse though, did not stay supportative of the T.S.C. for too long though. After a while, it was becoming increasingly apparent that their world was changing too greatly in the favour of their new friends or to others, "Masters". Their culture especially had been warped in ways that sometimes barely recognized what it once was, but rather than the traditionalism of the Jaannoaikken, who formed first during the middle years of the great change, the Kohoavtse who formed a few years later, decided to instead opt for a more "progressive" approach. They began to oppose the T.S.C. on the airwaves, newscasts, and halls of power (although there were cases of violence), accusing the T.S.C. of imperalism, cultural and otherwise and attempting to "revise" their own culture, transformed as much as it may be, into something that was new but still distinctly Varanon, although the Jaannaoaikken were rather untrustworthy of them, to say the least. The pressure kept on mounting and anti-T.S.C. sentiments grew increasingly strong until the T.S.C. was forced to scale back its presence and influence on this swampy world immensely.

They are very updated, modernized, and intergalactically cultured compared to the Jannoaikken and mostly inhabit the larger cities and towns, in the generally more fortunate and developed areas, although they are increasingly moving into more natural environments and modfying them for their own usage, often bringing them close and closer to those that oppose them. Their level of technology is generally higher than that of the rival faction. They are mostly Varanon, although a few other species (you get to make your own, get those creative juices flowing) have been known to identify and fight alongside them. A large part of their technology and culture has a noticeably T.S.C. tinge to it, although a lot of them say that they have created their own path into the future, technologically, culturally, and otherwise.

Jaannoaikken (Translation: The Eternal Remnant)

While many of the Membrons were somewhat wary of the T.S.C., there were more than a few who already knew of them and were outright openly hostile towards their approach. The early years of their "colonization" and "integration" was marked with a fair share of socio-political and sometimes physical turmoil, and a large part of it can be blamed upon the Jaanoaikken, who of the profound and long-lasting consequences of colonization, imperialism, and what they saw as the progressive degradation of their own identity and culture. Many of their future leaders, along with many of those of the Kohavtse, had already been in strong leadership positions, but for the Jaanoiakken, this was to change with the shift in power on this planet and in the Helios system.

Although they were pushed into the background and made a minority by their at-then-TSC-friendly counterparts, they were no less vocal, forming quickly and immediately beginning anti-T.S.C. protests and political campaigns, and had been linked to acts of terrorism in the past. They claim that it is they who truly started opposing the T.S.C. and that the Kohoavtse only started doing so in order to ride on the trend and increase their own political support, twisting their followers to think they were fighting the good fight but only introducing more policies, laws, and other changes that even if the T.S.C. left, would only make this world more of one of them and less "Membros". To them, the "Ascended Ones" still had their pockets in those ot T.S.C. poltiicians and vice versa, and there were times where it was revealed that there were close links between the two. It would be hard to deny the role that they played in the departure of most of the T.S.C. presence on the planet, with the grand majority of violent terrorism and out-of-control rioting and protesting sometimes openly being claimed responsibility for by members of this group. They were not above attacking Kohoavtse though, and while it is hard to find concrete evidence for this, it is generally believed that any violence between the two groups, and there is a lot of this, was caused by them.

Their level of technology, while not completely abject and base, is noticeably lower and more D.I.Y. in its appearence than that of the Kohoavtse, although they are more skilled with bio-technology (they are known for modfiying sometimes quite large native fauna into buildings) and are not above salvaging and "cannibalisng" higher tech. They hold some power in a few cities in towns, but in most, they hold the most control in poorer and more run-down parts of town. Their greatest concentrations of allegiance have been found inside the "green cities" (basically modified plants that are now bio-buildings), rural areas, fishing towns, and generally more "backwoods" areas, including a few powerful underwater fortess-cities.

Currently, there are a lot of neutrals on Membros, those who are aware of the now incredibly tense and high levels of violence. Some may lean more towards one side than another, but a lot simply do not really take part in actively fighting for the goal of either of the sides. The current rulers of this world are also neutral, but it is known that various persons in the seats of power have their allegiances and their deals. The T.S.C. is currently trying to restore order to Membros and convince both sides to come to terms with one another, with peace treaty talks in the way alongside supposed programs to help create common ground amongst all and to unite this planet. Still, many remain skeptical of their true intentions. Whispers of mysterious parties taking actions in the shadows abound and among some there has been speculation that something far more ancient than the planet's current civilization is motivating both the T.S.C. and these supposed third parties to make their moves.

Remember, you're allowed to create your own alien species for this planet and if you wish, you can also try your hand at creating your own factions.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Chapter three is finally up! Let's get the ball rolling people!

Also, remember, you're allowed to contribute to what you see Membros, its environment, its political situation, its people and so on as being as. If you have good ideas, fire'em at me and try to incorporate them into the RP!

EDIT: IF anyone else is wondering why the 13th isn't at the capital city yet, well basically, the T.S.C. is still setting things up there, and by tomorrow, it'll be ready and then the funebrarans can go over.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Mechalith

Blackout.png

Sentient automatons discovered living among scrapped warships on LV-991, better known as the Planet of Junk. With all the other species that have been discovered it comes as no surprise that a race of sentient machines was discovered. While their body types differ greatly the one constant that remains is their xenophobia toward biologics. It is believed to be a sort of racewide superiority complex due to their durability. The other constant is their need for alcohol. It is a more reliable machine lubricant than what they found among the scrapped ship hulks they were discovered among. The preferred poisons are Jameson, Michael Collins, Wild Turkey, Captain Morgan, and Jack Daniels. If there is no alternative they will settle for isopropyl alcohol and/or lighter fluid, even though it does play hell with their systems.

One thing that makes mechalith similar to Funebrarans is the fact that they are literally built for war. They all have varying types of installed weaponry, usually built into their arms. These range from rapid fire bolt guns, rotary guns, lasers, rocket launchers, and, on one occassion, a baby launching catapault. When necessary they will use eachother as bludgeoning tools. In the event that they wind up in a crisis situation they can initiate a Battle Short which gives them a minute long boost to their attributes at the cost of temporary deactivation of primary logic centers, vocalization, and ranged weapons. It also has a rather lengthy cool down time.

While they have defined sexes, it appears that a percieved homosexuality is most common with their race. The reason for this is due to parts incompatibilities between male and female mechalith. While it is possible for male and female mechalith to 'interface', as is their term for sexual intercourse, there is a great deal of feedback, something which would be interpreted as pain. That makes male/female mechalith 'facing the mechanical equivalent of S&M and taboo among more traditional mechalith.

As far as allegiances go mechalith are not picky as to who they are allied with. As long as the booze flows they can be relied upon.

As far as religion goes the most common belief system is Pastafarianism, as they have a Beer Volcano in their heaven and no mehcalith could as for anything better than a Beer Volcano.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Are any of you having trouble thinking of what to post by any chance? If need be, I can get up some other postage perhaps to set up some action for some of you, perhaps. PM me, IM me, write on my profile, or so on, for help, if you need it.

Also, if any of you are wondering about the funebraran team near the docking area, yes, you can be one of the 13 team members deployed there. The 10 members of the more heavily armed portion of the team are not necessarily funebraran (some might be from another species). The type of combat going on there is much more covert and stealthy. The Jaanoaikken and the Kohoavtse forces there won't be going in guns blazing, but rather, sneakily and more undercover. Weapons are concealed, multiple snipers watching various sections, and the "combatants" would be disguised as security guards, civilians, engineers and so on.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

More equipment:

M-32A1 Stegosaurus
rgm-79g.jpg

Primary: Handheld GPMG-37 40mm machine gun
Secondary: BZ-9 127mm Linear Rifle
Tertiary: M-270 Six tube MLS pod
Quaternary: Handheld beam saber X2.
Armor: Titan Ceramic Armor (PCMS optional)
Armor Layer: Classified
The gold standard for the United Systems Marine Corps, the Stegosaurus is a can-do machine optimized for ground combat. The Marine Corps has fielded these successfully against their Soviet counterpart, the T-55 Akula, with excellent results. Most models recieved an aftermarket backpack system that allows them to carry spare weapons and munitions with them, allowing them to move farther without waiting on supply quartermaster units to catch up. Made with pride by immigrant workers in the United Systems of America!

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Changed the first post where Salazar Tibautho got mentioned that both sides want him captured. I noticed that if both wanted him dead, they wouldn't really be fighting with one another.

By the way Arsenal, some of Hayden's forces are doing operations deep in the jungle right?

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I'm way too busy this week because of mid-terms and this roleplay stresses me out... I might have to drop out, Irae. :/ I'm sorry.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

They'll be establishing a firebase/staging area. The M-198s have the reach to do so, that's for damn sure.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I'm getting a severe case of the TL;DR's here

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

You having trouble keeping up with the story events?

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

I'm sorta unsure 'bout this hunting squad im supposed to me with so...
I'll try getting up a post soon.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Basically, the infiltration team is made up of 13 people. You're one of them. Three of them are human undercovers disguised as locals, and the remaining are somewhat more combat capable infiltrator units. The undercovers are most likely positioned outside and scouting out the Kohoavtse and Jaanoaikken forces, who like the funebrarans have undercovers as well outside, and hidden strike teams with much more devastating weaponry.

The actual non-human funebraran infiltration team is likely made up of funebrarans who seem like mantids, spiders, crickets, silverfish, assasin bugs, lictors, and other arthropods associated with stealth and sneakiness, who have a tendency to be very good at hiding where you least expect them.

The hidden teams, for all three sides, are not necessarily immobile. If they are to move, then they must stick to the shadows. They are likely holding up within local structures warehouses, slum buildings, checked-out appartment rooms and so on. The Kohoavtse and the Jaanoaikken are not completely aware of the funebraran infiltrator presence; they may have heard some word about unidentified presences, but nothing really conclusive. Both factions though, are very aware of one another, and are fighting in covertly and "quietly" in the area, having grinded to a standstill. Both know that if they make one move, it might just completely draw them into the open; they're on the outskirts of the warehouse area, but are contesting one another for control of it.

There are also T.S.C. peacekeeping forces in the area, keeping an eye on civilian un-rest. It can be assumed they have frequent patrols and if combat starts heating up from covert to not-so-covert, extra reinforcements could be brought in.

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Ok, post in the works...

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Also, some more stuff from the I.C. post that brought it up:

From post# 67:

"Salazar Tibautho was declared M.I.A. by the planetary government as of two days ago. The Jaanoaikken have caught up to him and killed off the witness protection, the government bodyguards, and most of his family. Both sides want him alive; stabbed both in the back and got away with important intel."

"I have this just...horrid feeling that the fact they'll be terribly focused on killing each other, thus giving us cover, is our only real 'good' news." said Arkoss, a sense of dread present in his voice. Battles in urban areas like this more often than not lead to the death of numerous noncombatants.

"Piss excuse for good news; more coverage on our arses and civilian casualties they can link to us is far from good." replied Salko's bitter and biting voice. He was observing video footage of the opposing factions engaging in combat across the cities of Membros. The results were not pleasant, much like the commander's harsh personality. Arkoss doubted that he cared much for the toll in civilian life. He'd always been a bitter commander.

Again Krozill brought up the map, focusing on a city very close to the main T.S.C. base they'd be deployed to tomorrow. Moving further from the bustling heart of the city to its outskirts, near old shipping warehouses looking across the swamp-sea, he zoomed in on a particular district.

"If it makes you feel any better, the cluster of old ship-building facilities we believe Tibautho to be hiding in are mostly deserted, although there are low-rent residences and shanty towns nearby. Both sides are in a standstill currently, too busy eying one another to keep on eye on us. Don't keep your hopes up though; if full scale combat does break out between the two, expect it to escalate. The area is a hiding ground for the Jaanoaikken and the Kohoavtse likely have some air support stolen from the local military."

"What do we have on the ground?"

"Glad you asked. A small team; 10 infiltrators, three orphans, undercover and human. They can speak the native tongue and can blend in aesthetically. Communication has been woefully sparse after they started closing in and with hostiles so close. The're looking for a breach, an opening, but it's a bit harder said than done currently."

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Ok Thanks, i'll edit my post a bit according to that now..

Expect it by the weekend...

Re: Soldiers of Misfortune

Oh yeah, one more thing. The Kohoavtse could in some cases be disguised as local police forces and have access to SWAT-level weaponry.
