Seia felt the ground shudder a little as the two obelisks tackled by Eirlys were downed at the same time. Well that was easy. She thought to herself. Moreover though, with that, this area was clear, and the objective at this location was complete.
During the ten or so minutes of respite, catching up on what happened revealed that things didn't necessarily go flawlessly. Melora had been compromised by the musings of the line Cultist who they had a hard time taking out. Aurora cast magic that went haywire, and Parou had to turn her attention to saving Aurora from her own magic. Celestia too, was also occupied in trying to help Melora.
Basically, while Seia was hacking and slashing away at the monster, unbeknownst to her, pretty much everything was starting to go wrong with almost half of the team having mishaps or needing to address those same mishaps. If that fight had dragged on any longer...
The praetorian made herself shoo those thoughts away. Instead, she took solace in that she was able to get the Lemuria to ultimately dwindle in numbers and retreat. That being said, after this it could be prudent to not jump into another combat heavy mission like this. The reason being the need to rest up, and to address ways to improve coordination.
The ten minutes of rest granted by Parou quickly passed. Seia let the filthy cloth with blood and rot in her hand burn up. Sheathing her polished sword, she made for the next area with the others.
Melora comically charged in the background as Parou gave her orders. In essence, the general tactic of clearing out the foes before tackling the Obelisk remained the same. Though, Parou seemed to be anticipating a counter attack after clearing out the first set of defending cultists. She also kept Aurora back with her in reserve, no doubt due to what had just happened to her earlier.
The Obelisk was huge. Massive in comparison to the ones toppled before. Therefore the image of mindlessly hacking away at it with Nova didn't particularly appeal to the Praetorian. Eirlys was able to take out two with her Magic earlier so... why? She was just slightly more concerned at how much punishment she was putting her blade through.
Melora and Celestia were both very spirited in their attacks. They appeared to be weary of having their minds affected by the Cultist's dark chants so they were putting extra effort in to these opening strikes. Seia had already performed an Arx maneuver in the last area without enough time to recuperate. That being said, that maneuver wasn't even something she was technically proficient enough to do normally. Despite this, she remained capable but trying it again was diving unto exerting herself. It was important to not exhaust herself any further unless it became absolutely necessary again.
Seeing Celestia's handiwork begin to scatter some foes. Seia readied herself. She felt like it was unlikely that they would be able to defeat the cultists in a single round, so she had to consider the possibility of falling under one of their illusions like Melora did.
If that was to be the case, then it would be best for her to dive right into the thick of those cultists. At least there, if she suddenly found herself surrounded by people she normally wouldn't attack, she'd know not to be deceived. Even if she went after Melora, the latter would likely be more agile than these accursed followers - with that she'd also be able to discern past through the illusion with logic.
Seia drew her blade.
At the same time, the effects of Parou's magic began to take effect. The 'Croix' symbols adorning Seia's uniform began to glow with the radiance of forged metal. Reacting to the Squad Lead's magic.
التبجيل! التبجيل! التبجيل! أنت من أكثر القسوس المقدس!
A chant played in Seia's head. Painfully loud in the halls of her mind. They flooded and echoed plentifully in every crevice.
The praetorian began to grip at the sides of her head. Visibly alarmed.
"Nnngh! What is this...!?"
مقدس! مقدس! مقدس! طوبى لك لك هي الحياة الأكثر تكريم!
Loud. It was so loud. Like a thousand voices speaking into each side of her ear. In yet, no one else could hear what she was receiving. Seia fought against it. She was certain that it was the work of the Cultists. But, this magnitude seemed so much more painful that just being presented with an illusion. It felt like her mind was being overloaded. The excess of 'information' she was being forced to ingest was like a bubble in her head that was crushing everything inside her skull.
"Stop...! Kuh...! STOP!"
At her core. And losing the ability to think rationally... Seia called out - rather pleaded in her most primal thoughts. She desperately sought someone out to help her...
M....Mother.
Compelled on it's own. Seia's ribbon historia reached skyward. On it's own accord, the Historia seemed to be casting something in an attempt to save her. Sparkling fragments shimmered away from it as the ribbon expelled mana.
The glowing Croix pendants on her clothes flickered. Like struggling lights. They waned a few times, as if fighting to remain before abruptly going out. With them, so did Seia's consciousness.
Both the ribbon and the praetorian fell limp to the side.
Witnessing all this, Parou's intuition told her that Seia managed to save herself. However, what was most apparent was that one of her squad has already gone down.
