Phantasmagoria — Ewigkeit in Wiedergeburt

"I just did."

The violet glow of her hair dimmed, then vanished altogether as Parou let out a breath. There had been interference, but she had managed to pull through regardless, if at the cost of some of her magical might. The price to pay for information, as it were. Remaining sitting, she untied the barnacled nail from her finger, extracting a blue cloth to clean it off before sticking it into her satchel once more. She lifted up the redrawn map, nodded slightly at her own work. It was nothing special. Guesswork alone could have come to the same conclusion. But as for the amount of time saved...

Well, no, Parou would gladly admit to herself that she would have enjoyed seeing Melora try to navigate this place on foot. It'd be a collossal waste of time, but it'd be funny nonetheless, and efficiency-minded as she was, even the lavender-haired prima donna had it in her heart to appreciate some entertainment.

She passed the map over to Melora, spent another delicate moment to sip her tea, before saying, rather plainly, "There's hundreds of these undead, and none of them are actually hiding. The terrain is highly uneven, similar to a maze that operates on three dimensions. I've numbered down each part of the Island, so follow along. Section 1 is easy for any competent Witch. Nothing special. Section 3 is much the same, but with a couple of powerful signatures that are not merely unintelligent, shambling undead. Section 2 is, as one would expect, a beacon of power. Twice as dangerous as Section 3, but nothing that we can't handle as a group. The obelisks and cultists scattered around in 2 and 3 interfered with my magic, however, so it's to note that none of you will be fighting at peak efficiency once we enter the Rocks. Section 4 and 5 are still enigmas for me, but that's why Celestia's heading there. The smoke obscuring both areas originates from Section 4 though, so approach from Section 5 to acclimate yoursel to the conditions. Wouldn't recommend breathing it in either."

A third sip. She was getting lots of mileage out of this tea. It was nice. Her expression never changed from one of calculated disinterest.

"As it stands, I'm inclined to save Section 2 for last, and to focus on destroying the obelisks rather than the horde. But that could still change, depending on what you find, Celestia. Get going."

That was unlikely, in truth. Destroying the spawn point of these pests was their objective, after all. Unless the Shadow Witch came across something truly horrifying in the hidden Sections, Parou had no real intention of changing things up.

Seia was still convinced that Aurora's golem was out to get her:
Even by the time they arrived at the stop before the main mission area just before where the obelisks were reported she was still noticeably keeping a distance. The Praetorian didn't have much time to enjoy the scenery as the others had done in passing as they made their way to the Singing Rocks, as she was weary of Rune the entire way. Fearing she'd come swoop out of the air like some bird of prey and send both of them careening into the abyss. Her demeanor was completely different that entire time... But no one really noticed.

However, once it was time to proceed to the next step, she had regained her composure. The uneasy expression was back to her usual stony and judgmental looking one. Seia attentively listened in between the discussions over scouting the area. Seia had her own first impressions of the Singing Rocks. Her immediate concerns were how the terrain looked like it was difficult to traverse on foot. This land offered many hiding places, and conversely, ways to get lost. If one was unable to traverse their way out to a point they could escape to the sky, they were likely in for a hard time.

The black and jagged desolate place was not like the floating flat-topped islands that were most often related to in fairy tales. No. Reality was sadly much more bleak. Even in this fantastical world. While wondrous things were indeed in reach, It was a Questing Witch's' job to seek out that which logic would tell you to otherwise avoid at all costs.

For their squad. For all the squads. It was their duty to drive forward and hunt those things.

Inspecting the area closer... Yes. There were indeed obelisks present. There were five. The largest of them facing them directly. Three in a cluster to the right of the party facing the area, and one outlier.

And of course the smoke.

There was nothing in the report that said that these zombies were a type that could burn things or do anything that could make black smoke like that. From what Seia knew of this place and what was briefed... Any thing that could 'burn' would've had to have been brought from another area, as this land itself was black and desolate.

Volcanic activity? Of course not. At least, not something naturally occurring. The briefing made no mention of the land being volcanic, either.

The most logical deduction was that there was something that was either able to inherently make or cause smoke - a monster like a Dragon - Or something that was able to start fires and provide the kindling for it. More than likely a person. Since the 'people' of this world all come from the tower... If it was indeed people that was the cause of that smoke, the obelisks, and zombies plaguing it.

Then it was likely rogues. Also known as Cultists. With the knowledge to conjure zombies and erect the obelisks.

Seia refocused her thoughts. That was all speculation. Since the party was able to afford to have someone scout, she wanted to find out more from what Celestia would see.

Parou and the others went to work. The 'team leaders' magic to divine the area was interesting. Seia couldn't profess to being able to divulge how any magic worked just from looking at it... But if she had to guess, the use of these catalysts helped project their magic achieve that larger scale the Coven was capable of. Indeed, very disciplined in it's own way.

Melora voiced out the same sort of thing that Seia was pondering. How 'regular' zombies could not cause fires on their own. She also chimed in her intention to help with the scouting - and then anticipating Parou to chide her for even trying. Though, just as she finished talking, Parou had already done what Melora wanted to do. Parou explained her thoughts.

It sounded like the area with the lone obelisk - section one, was like an outpost. Without question the areas where the largest obelisk and the group of obelisks were located - sections two and three respectively likely possessed the cultists that the briefing warned of. High value tactical targets when juxtaposed by a bunch of zombies. The part of the landmass opposite of them required more scouting. The smoke itself, Parou confirmed, was from section 4. If Seia had to take a wild guess, that could imply that area is where the cultists may have ended up making camp. But that was just a guess.

Ultimately, information from a scouting run was needed to get the full picture. However, Parou's working plan was to basically save the largest of the obelisks for last. That was sound. If the obelisks were giving the Undead power, then it would be wise to take out the outlying obelisks first to allow for an assault on the largest obelisk to become more manageable. It would be at that large obelisk where one would expect the fiercest resistance after all.

Coming out of thinking, Seia noticed rune standing close to her again.
She slowly strafed herself away a little. Sipping water from her canteen, she then began to murmur. The star-shaped trinkets on her clothes began to glow and seemingly twitch from some supernatural force. The 'murmurs' were unintelligible preparations through prayers she recited as they waited on Celestia's return and report.

@Luma

The team immediately started towards the Singing Rocks once the initial awe and wonder of Horizon left their system.

As per Parou's suggestion, they did not storm the place, wands blazing. Instead, they opted to make camp by the outer edge of their destination. Makes sense since Celestia was initially tasked to scout the place first.

Taking in the sight of the Singing Rocks, it really was a Stark contrast to the warm and welcoming area near the Cave. In fact, from what she could tell, it was anything but that. Strangely enough, this fact was very comforting for Celestia.

"At least it's not trying to deceive us. This place is dangerous and it wants every living being here to know it." Celestia thought.

Aside from the sharp, rocky cliffs and the steep ravines adorning the area, the most evident structures would be the obelisks scattered across the place. Aside from the colossal obelisk jutting out like a sore thumb in an area they dubbed as Section 2, there were also a few, smaller obelisks scattered in sections 1 and 3 that she managed to catch glimpses of earlier as they were heading towards the camp.

Melora expressed her interest in scouting as well, suggesting that she scout one area of the map while Celestia and Parou scout the others. The sandy blonde witch already had a feeling that she was going to one of the more dangerous areas anyways since she can do shadow magic and portals and stuff, hence she refrained from choosing an area of her own.

Apparently, Parou knows some degree of clairvoyance magic as she confirmed the existence of not just the obelisks at sections 1 to 3, but also enemy forces as well. They numbered in the hundreds so they could be appropriately called a horde and their seems to be other, more powerful and pronounced signatures in these areas, which are most likely the cultists.

Her hunch proved to be correct, as she was assigned to the areas spewing the smoke, particularly Section 4. She wasn't sure what she'll find there, but if the sections visible to them are any indication, then she should expect to discover more obelisks there as well.

"Right, right. The area with the blazing smoke. The briefing made no mention that this area is volcanic. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if the people that surveyed this area weren't able to produce accurate reports with how hard it is to traverse the environment and the presence of monsters. Thus, there is still a chance that those are just some geothermal vents or something. If not, maybe the cultists are cooking up a sacrifice" She jested. "Anyways, I'll be back. If you guys think that you can't handle an enemy or moving forward, just Observe and Report then come back as quickly as possible. "

With that said, Celestia looked for a decent sized shadow in the area before pressing her hand to it and whispering an incantation. The shadow glowed faintly afterwards signalling that she successfully managed to set up an emergency anchor point leading back to camp. This should automatically redirect any portals she makes to the anchor point which is good for a quick escape since normally she would have to think of the destination in the first place while creating the portal.

After doing some last minute checks, Celestia got on her broom and began her scouting mission.

The route she chose took her at the outer edge of the singing rocks. Passing by Section 1, she caught sightings of the indeed in between the ravines and crevices created by the environment. It seems that they weren't actively hiding at all, so it might be safe to assume that they were still undetected. She also confirmed the existence of a single obelisk in Section 1 before starting towards Section 4.

"Looks like the first section won't be any issue. It's this fourth section that's giving off some bad juju." She mused.

As an extra form of precaution, the shadow witch decided to land a ways off from the border of Section 4 and continue the rest of the way on foot. It wouldn't make sense to fly anymore since her visibility would be affected by that humongous plume of smoke.

By the time she entered Section 4 of the singing rocks, two other obelisks were sighted by Celestia from a distance away. Strangely enough, the source of the smoke seems to originate near them as well.

"Strange... The other obelisks weren't spouting smoke at all. Could this be a sign of a Cultist camp? Are they really roasting a sacrifice there? Oh I'd hate to be right this once."
She thought nervously.

Celestia was dodging and weaving from cover to cover as she carefully made her approach towards the Obelisks. Surprisingly, it seems all that tedious precautions were unnecessary since she was able to reach the twin spires without even sensing a single enemy.

What's even more astonishing was when she realised the actual scale of the smoke. It was as if a pyromancer went to town inside the Great Library of Salem Malefica, the second largest library in Phantasmagoria which spans almost an entire city block.

But instead of a great library burning, the sandy blonde witch laid her eyes to a sight that was even more bizarre.

The smoke didn't come from cultists roasting sacrifices, geothermal vents, or fire breathing dragons. Instead, it was originating from a large, unidentified object that had apparently crashed to the ground.

Bits and pieces of debris so unusual that it looked alien were scattered all over the place while fires big and small were burning everywhere. For the most part, however, the unidentified structure remained intact, but it was quickly attracting the attention of the undead in the area. She could feel the sporadic arrival of curious undead coming from the other sections. In addition to that, the faint chanting of cultist spellcasters seems to slowly fill the air.

The situation was becoming more and more dangerous with each passing second, but whether it was due to personal curiosity or a sense of duty towards the group, Celestia knew there was only one course of action to take: move forward and investigate further.

It was at times like this that the shadow witch was actually thankful for the hostile, uneven terrain. The rocky outcrops provided a lot of cover as she sneaked closer and closer to the unidentified object. The burning debris also provided ample illumination to cast decent sized shadows, allowing her to use them as portals to get past enemies undetected when it isn't possible to do so physically. She would even bend the shadows and extend them towards her multiple times just to gain access to them and turn them into portals.

Her efforts seem to pay off as she slips by like a shadow in the night until she was only a couple dozen of meters away from the large metal structure.

Peeking from the rocky outcrop she was using as cover, Celestia considered whether or not she had ingested any magic shrooms for breakfast.

A large horde of undead had gathered, trying to siege the colossal metal structure. Sections of the structure had apparently broken off but there were parts of the structure that were intact and had these large cylinders installed on them. These cylinders were firing projectiles on any undead within range.

Additionally , a blue, spherical barrier was blocking any attempts of the undead to reach what looked like survivors of the crash. She counted two survivors that seemed to be humans.. Or humanoid at the very least. The blonde witch could feel her jaw drop when she saw one of them open their palms and have fire shooting right out of it. While the undead were having no luck getting through the blue spherical shield, the fire had no trouble getting out, giving an untimely cremation to any undead unlucky enough to get close. The other survivor was furiously using some sort of tool while working on a part of the unfamiliar object.

Unfortunately, burning undead means the stench of burning decay filling the air. It was so horrid that Celestia had to stop herself from vomiting what little breakfast she had earlier.

"What the hell is with those guys? They're doing all that crazy stuff but I can't even detect a hint of magic coming from them!!! Whatever is powering those weapons and that shield isn't mana at all but something different. I have to get back to the others fast. "

Fortunately, the area were Celestia was camped had plenty of dark, shadowy areas to set up a portal. Thus, she was able to quickly return to the others.

"Hey, everyone! Gather around. I'm gonna report my findings so please lend me your attention."

Still visibly shaken by the things she saw, Celestia took the opportunity to grab a bottle of water from her pack and rehydrate herself. After clearing her throat, she began narrating what she saw in her reconnaissance mission.

" As Parou had said earlier, Section 1 has only 1 obelisk erected on it. I would also confirm that the undead nor the cultist spellcasters have not noticed our approach and are not actively trying to conceal their presence from us. The terrain, filled with ravines, crevices, and caverns just provides too many blinds pots and hiding places for the undead to crawl into. " Her relatively calm tone matched her experiences in the first section. " As for Section 4... Where do I begin... "

Using her marker, she began drawing two adjacent dots near the center of Section 4. It should be obvious that these two represented Obelisks like the others on the map. However, she began drawing other symbols as well.

First she started with a large oblong shape at the center of Section 4, just right next to the two obelisks. Then she drew several arrowheads around this oblong, followed by a decent sized blue sphere inside the obloid, and lastly two stars inside the sphere.

"First thing's first. I think you already have an idea that these two dots represent obelisks, right? They are around the same size as the smaller ones we have seen this far so I don't think there is anything special about them."

She pauses for a long sigh before striking up the courage to report the more unusual sightings she had discovered.

" This large obloid shape here, however, is the source of that giant plume of smoke. Judging by the fact that pieces of it are scattered around this area, I have a theory that this unidentified object is some sort of vehicle or contraption capable of flight but due to reasons currently unknown, it crashed in this section of the Singing Rocks." Celestia explained.

" The undead in the area as well as the cultist spellcasters have grown restless due to the vessel's presence and have already began surrounding it with their forces, represented by these clusters of arrowheads. The vessel, however, seems equipped with an automatic defense system that utilises weaponry that fires projectiles at the undead. This weapon apparently has the same effectiveness as an explosion type combat spell. "

Achieving something like that is remarkable and even revolutionary if they manage to learn how to replicate that technology.

" I also saw two humanoid survivors from the wreck, as represented with these stars. They have this blue, spherical shield that blocks all incoming attacks from the outside. However, one of the survivors was able to launch an attack from inside the sphere out towards the undead. Particularly, he launched flames from his palms. The strangest thing is that I couldn't detect a single trace of magic from the weapons, the shield, and the survivors. Whatever they are using to power their technology, it is something other than mana. I understand that this may be a bit hard to take in for some of you so I am offering to bring you all to the vantage point I've used to observe all of this. "

The witches would certainly be shocked to heat this. Some may even dismiss it as the ramblings of a mad woman. All their lives, they were taught that anything outside of Phantasmagoria would either be evil or animalistic in nature. The equipment of these humanoids already disproves the latter as no animal is capable of developing such technology that isn't even magical in nature. This encounter with what appears to be a completely different civilization may just change the way witches think... That is if these beings aren't evil as well.

"From what I have gathered, we have several options. First, use them as bait while we destroy the obelisks. The undead might be too pre occupied with the foreign threat to notice us... However, we may also be identified as an enemy to these humanoid beings and they may direct their weapons against us.

Second, we help these beings in their little predicament. Nothing spells "we're friends" better than helping them out while they're on a pinch. Assuming they won't be hostile towards us, we can safely destroy the obelisks while at the same time we could also learn new information about where these beings came from, and how they are able to use these weapons that is powered by an alternative energy source other than magic.

Third is my least favorite. We eleminate everything. The undead, the cultists, the survivors so we could safely go about our mission. The thing is, we don't know how much damage their shield can withstand, if our spells could even damage it in the first place. The second we show any hostile intentions towards them, they won't spare any second directing those weapons at us. Additionally we may be credited for starting a war with another civilization, and this would make it harder for all witches to perform their tasks and duties in Horizon. "
Celestia said in a calm yet solemn tone, appropriately highlighting the gravity of the situation.

" I implore that we choose wisely as I fear that we aren't just deciding our fates but probably the fate of every with in Phantasmagoria as well. Personally, I would like to vote for the second option."

With that said, the other witches of the Rune Squad decide to vote for...

Parou didn't care. She simply didn't. It was enough to know that the smoke came from someone else's fight with these undead.

"What about Section 5?" was what she asked instead, but once it became apparent that Celestia hadn't scouted out that area at all, the lavender-haired Witch settled with a long sigh. What was she expecting, honestly? Operating under incomplete information was annoying, and as far as she was concerned, the ability for them to project fire or protect themselves from attacks without magic was simply...weird. Strange. Also stupid, and considering how this all sounded, probably also weak as hell. Any Witch worth their salt could extract themselves from such a situation, but it sounded like these primitives had been at it for quite a while, with no sign of success.

Some sort of territorial dispute from two different races of monsters then. Nothing worth considering in the long run. The Horizon was a vast land with many strange abominations, all with a host of abilities that may be different than what the Witches held, but were wholly inferior to it. As far as she was concerned...

"It doesn't matter. We have work to do, and this conflict is something we can take advantage of," was Parou's curt response. "It's good enough to know that the smoke isn't hiding anything dangerous to us, so lets get going. We'll clear out the trash in Section 1, swing over to clear out Section 3. We then scour Section 5 together to see if there's any more obelisks. If so, we strike. If not, we attack Section 2."

Parou was here to do the job and drink tea, and she was just about out of tea.

"If those 'humanoids' haven't dealt with Section 4 by then, I can only conclude that they're not even worth half a Witch altogether, and are probably just some subset of undead. We'll clean out that Section last and see if they have enough sense to be cowed by Magic."

Smile and listen, smile and listen...
Plan and plan and plan and plan...
Ready, aim, ready, aim, ready, aim, fir-- wait......... ready...

Aurora needed more than one hand to count the times she'd been kicked out of a group for having no patience for this. Ironic considering she was usually the one talking, but at least she was talking about interesting stuff... frosting preferences, why forbidden tomes are forbidden, how surprisingly easy it is to read a forbidden tome anyway... juicy stuff like that.

"... Unless someone knows how to split one witch into two, I think the dual scouting method is better ..."

"Oo, actually I--"

"--we'll both be alone, which I'm not a huge fan of, but I don't like that the targets are unseen. That means that they're ..."

In a world filled with people who were 90% study and prepare, she was 99% just-go-for-it. Learn by doing: was that really so strange? Instead she was just as alien as manablight. Maybe she was just a sky whale that someone turned into a witch and took back home for funsies...? Or instead, maybe she was...

NOPE, bad thoughts.

"Time for some hot chocolate~!"

After having passed out some cups for everyone except Rune on their little patch of land to enjoy, Aurora summoned a simple park bench behind her to sit in and hold out for Celestia.

It was a roomy bench...

Plenty of room for two...?
No...?
Still just planning...?
Okay...

"Oh, great, Celestia! Hey, are you okay...?"

He? His? Zombie civilizations?!

Wat.

Was she even speaking proper Engrish?

Aurora slapped Celestia on the cheeks a few times.

"Hey, hey, Celestia! Come back to us," she pleaded! "We just have to take care of the obelisks and I'm sure these... uhm... shield-fire zombies? I guess? I'm sure they'll crumble away with everything else."

Standing back up, she grinned confidently to repeat her wisdom, "Manablight will show you whatever they need to show you to gitcha'. I learned that the hard way. It's a handy tip to remember... pffffft-- hahahahah...!" Her chuckling was barely audible, and even harder to interpret.

"Here, have some hot chocolate then let's get going!"

"Do you like it? I thought it was a little plain, since I usually like to add some extra flavor to it like mint or chili spice, but I think it actually turned out kinda okay. I still think it's kinda lacking something. Maybe it needs more ..."

Earlier...

Smirking, Rune readjusted her flight to a nearby island with a large tree, blasting her cannons full force to get there way ahead of the armored Hymn-singer. There she stood, peeking from behind the tree. Just to make it especially obvious, she quickly stomped on a stick with a loud CRACK as Seia was flying by.

It first it'd been a bit hurtful. What was she, some sorta hawk out to swoop down and eat the girl for lunch? But at the same time... it was sorta hilarious!

She ducked back behind the tree as soon as Seia glanced her way. Perfect timing! If a golem were capable of chuckling, Rune would be the chuckliest as she sat behind that tree to enjoy the sweet sensation of a well-executed prank.

...

Rune shared Aurora's sentiments: too much prep work. That being said, unlike Aurora, she actually saw the need for it. So, unlike Aurora, she'd be the one to study the map, listen to the conversation, and understand the plan.

Striding forward, she took a good, solid look at the map. Alright, map studied. Wasn't photographic memory great~? What'd these two flesh-ball 'leaders' have over that?

...Besides incredibly versatile magic powers... those obviously didn't count...

@Ehb

As before, Horizon proved a stunning sight. The vista of floating islands scattered throughout an azure sky fascinated Eirlys, given that now was the first time she could really concentrate on it. Turbulence along with heavy emotions disturbed both of her flights into this mesmerising skyline, but now? Now she could try to unveil its mysteries. Of course, some things still concerned her. Aurora remained in the back of the Witch's mind, not to mention the dismissive behaviour of Parou. She could not deny its efficiency, yet she felt something off about it. She could not put it into words, of course... Or drawings, for that matter.

The obelisks, along with Lemuria, was also a concern. Eirlys knew a little about them, but she had yet to thoroughly familiarise herself with the various threats in Horizon. She had busied herself with Aurora's problem, along with seeking out the veteran Witches from the Feathers so she could learn some combat basics. Hopefully, that would come in handy, even if getting specific advice proved difficult because of her magic.

Regardless, the journey was peaceful. No strange voices, strange turbulence or bizzarre events involving flesh. Nothing to remind her of the Metal Sea along with its alien forms, only the bleak sight of ravines littered with undead and obelisks. She could barely make them out at this distance, of course, but she did see slight movement as she landed on the island.

When the team finally finished settling in, Parou made a quick, efficient decision, then she started looking into the obelisks herself. Eirlys felt the pings of magic crawling against her skin; a curious song of magic buzzing against her own core, seeking out any information they could obtain. At the same time, the scouts left to gather their pieces of information. This left the silver-haired witch with little to do, however, she did not stand by ildly. Calling upon Corvina, she reshaped the protective charms she had given to her team-mates when they explored the fleshy cave. This time, however, they took the shape of thick bracelets with forearm-guards attached to them and wrapped in intricate symbols. Taking much longer than her original creations, they were only finished when Celestia returned.

Listening attentively to the witch's report, Eirlys blinked... then nodded towards Aurora.

"A-a-aurora's right, Celestia. T-t-the Manablight could be tricking you at any m-moment here. W-w-w-we s-should leave t-t-those things... alone." She swallowed, as if to confirm her decision, then her hands tightened into a fist as she reviewed the situation, along with the position of the obelisks. Her eyes closed as she constructed a mental picture over the course of several moments, imagining the location of their enemies, along with what she could see of the various crevasses.

Wait...

Her eyes shot open.

"U-u-u-u-u-u-ummm! I... I have an idea..." Eirlys probably interrupted something important by speaking up, but she swallowed the lump in her throat. She knew she had to speak up. As much as she hated her inability to form words, she had to share it so she could know how feasible her plan was. Because it might save them a lot of trouble and maybe, just maybe, they could even salvage one of the obelisks if they were extraordinarily lucky. "D-d-d-oes... does anyone... have an umm... cutting spell? B-because if we c-c-could weaken the obelisks a-at the bottom, I could... I could t-t-t-topple them."

Her hands let up as she finished her contribution to the "war council" and immediately, she focused on getting her breathing under control, thinking she really should have brought a potion of courage to stop her stammering.

An object that was capable of putting up a barrier and casting firebolts with no discernible use of magic? That was... Something very curious. The situation had not really changed in terms of what needed to be accomplished. There obelisks still needed to be destroyed. However, the presence of this besieged third party added an 'option' to the way things could turn out and proceed for this mission.

Humorously, all Parou seemed most concerned about was whether everything had been fully scouted. The paused indicated that 'section 5' was not scouted.

Parou's final plan was agreeable in Seia's mind. The third party would most certainly keep that section occupied and seemed to at least be able to keep the enemy at bay with their equipment.

As the witch squad cleared out the obelisks, then the enemy zombies would become easier for both sides to deal with. It would be once the main objective of destroying the obelisks was achieved that they could decide whether this third party was friendly or not.

"Ame."

Closing her final preperational prayer. Seia ran her hands over her gear one last time. Nothing loose that would fall or get out of the way.

"Understood."

There was no uncertainty in the Praetorian's voice.
This time, a mission without the training wheels of Melody watching over them. A plan was made, and it was up to each of them to follow through.

Seia 'felt' it. The thing that the first 'training mission' was missing. The real feeling that they had the responsibility tied with being a questing witch.
This was it. The real thing. She kept those feelings suppressed under the task at hand.

It was at that moment Eirlys spoke up. The sputtering creature wanted to.... Topple the obelisks? Though, she was making it sound like she wanted to cut the things down like they were trees. Which implied that she wanted to retrieve them maybe? At least, that was the way that Seia understood it.

For once in this meeting finally, she chose to speak out. Trying to approach Eirlys a bit more softly than she felt Parou probably was going to.

"Eirlys, I understand where you're coming from. But even if we managed to 'save' one of those things they'd have to send a separate team out in order to retrieve it. Moreover, don't forget, our mission was to Destroy the obelisks and be done with it. No need to complicate it any more than it's already become."

Seia glanced over to Parou.

"Somewhere along the lines of what you were going to say?"

Maybe?
Seia felt like hearing the same thing in Parou's wording would probably be more scalding for Eirlys. Especially since she was someone who already had a hard time trying to speak up in the first place.

Despite Celestia's unsettling(?) discovery, whatever pleas, or ideas, she had fell on deaf ears. For her colleagues seemed to be more fit to be Questing Witches than her. Search&Destroy. That was their mission. That was what they would do. No questions asked. If these 'newfound discovery' served as an apt diversion, so be it. And, ultimately, they could always decide what to do after having done their task, if so desired. Potential corpses were still worth to be studied, after all.

Thus, with Parou quickly taking charge of the situation once again, their course of action seemed pretty straight-forward. Fitting for a mission such as this.

With the majority, if not everyone, aiming unified for Section 1, the Witches took off to flight. It was a but a short trip to the edge of the Singing Rocks, and even meters above the ground, in relative safety, they could already hear the whistles and hums coming from the strong currents below them. With turbulence's only bound to get worse the deeper they ventured inwards, it was only a question of time before even simple flight became a challenge in itself. But for now, they could easily continue.

With the group having scouted the position of the enemies one way or another, it was rather easy to avoid the bigger gatherings and get into range of the first Obelisk unnoticed. A peerless, shiny, black pillar that absorbed the very light itself into its singular color. Standing there as if it had been there from the beginning of time.

Below, countless animated bones and restless husks of rotten flesh shambled about, ranging into the hundreds, seemingly lacking any sense of intelligence. In fact, it too wrong to nearly wonder if they were simple inactive?

The question was, of course, for how long?

Nonetheless, it seemed like the perfect chance. Too good, maybe even.

A preemptive strike to take out the Obelisk in one fell swoop. A surprise attack to hit them where it hurt.
—A declaration of war.

Or was it all a simple trap?
But what choice did they have...

The wind roared in her ears, but Parou remained unflappable, not a single strand of hair out of place as she surveyed the area before her. Beneath, hundreds of undead ebbed and flowed like a tide of flesh, their identity lost in decay, and standing higher up was the black obelisk itself, a black so terrible it was impossible to make out its edges. Telorias Marxiwen floated gently behind her, a tune humming as wind passed through its complex construction, and after another moment of contemplation, she came to her decision.

The terrain of the Singing Rocks was uneven, all peaks and valleys, irregular and erratic. It would be a tragedy not to use that.

"Listen up," Parou said, her voice travelling well through the turbulent airspace, "We'll finish this up in one fell swoop. Celestia, Seia, fly down and strike the base. Cut into it like a wedge and retreat immediately afterwards. Eirlys, knock it down afterwards. Melora, Aurora, smash up what remains. If that's not enough, Celestia and Seia can clear the rest."

The weight of the obelisk falling against uneven stone would fracture it, at the very least, and crush what zombies were in its path. From there, hammering it against the anvil that's the ground should be more than sufficient. Eirlys's plan was solid, after all. Just needed some follow-through afterwards. Didn't seem like the Metal Sea had any way with words, but her ideas were usable. The diva wasn't all that concerned about Eirlys's ulterior motives anyways. Destruction came first. If she wanted to bring some souvenirs back, that could wait till after everything else was done.

"Let's get going. If this goes well, we'll repeat it for Section 3."

Melora rolled her eyes at the ritual casting. This was why she didn't trust Parou as far as she could be thrown. Perhaps the witch was better off being her own where she'd go off and do all this on her own. Melora's rolling eyes caught Seia's casual movement away from Rune and Rune's prank. at least it wasn't all tactical planning and just doing the job. She was here for more varied experiences, after all.

Celestia came back and reported something strange. Melora was desperate to see the tech, but it wasn't worth losing the mission or forgetting their priorities. Not to mention, it wasn't as if they weren't coming back around to torch a bunch of undead near the ship anyway. Maybe she'd just swipe a little bit of that tech...

"Let's do that last, at the very least it sounds like they might hold out for a while yet. If they do, then we can deal with them as needed. If they don't we need to clear out the undead anyway so we'll be going by. If we can, let's take back the stuff to study it."
Melora offered.

Melora stretched out and up like a cat after a long nap. She'd meant to scout, but really after that waste of mana, who needed to? She pulled the mask from her hip and it moved to cover her head and face. Holding the magician card, Melora was ready to destroy some towers. As they flew up and near the tower, Melora took a deep breath and...

"Sorry, Parou. I'm taking up base cracking on this one."
With an invisible wink, Melora's hand moved quickly.

Melora placed the magician card near her mask, dying it a deep purple. For a second, it seemed as though no magic had been cast, until she was suddenly diving feet first towards the tower. Using mana to enhance her weight, she spiraled down towards the side, crashing into it. Cracks spiderwebbed out at the base, making it weaker there for the others.

The effect ended and Melora casually moved out of the way for Celestia and Seia, waving at the two from her position just above the throng. She was away from them just enough to not be grabbed, but watching the things below them was... disgusting. Ugh.

@Accelerator @Ehb

Melora altered the order of battle literally right after it was laid out for them.

"Hey... Can't you just follow things just onc-!"

The masked witch was already forging on ahead of herself and Celestia. Way, way, ahead. Rushing to get there first.

"You! Seriously...?!" Seia cursed as she drew her sheathed blade out from it's scabbard.

She glanced at her 'wing-witch' for this attack.

"I guess we're going second. Celestia was it? Let's go!"

The 'sheath' itself functionally worked out as a broom. Giving the Praetorian something to help guide her flying for longer hauls. levitating it before her, she - not in a particular rush to chase after Melora. Sat upon it and made for the obelisk.

Coming in closer to the site of the obelisk. No way... She knew that there was supposed be a whole lot of them there. But, this many? For what was supposed be the weakest location? One thing was clear enough. They had to take out the obelisk as quickly as possible and avoid getting grounded and mobbed by the pungently sour looking plague crowding below.

Seia, just ahead of Celestia, announced to her just before making the final dive.

"Let's hit it with all we can and get out of the way. I'll go now. Take your shot after I clear the crystal."

With that. Seia descended to a point where she was confident in hopping down and landing. At that point, Melora had already attracted the attention of the mob of monsters. If Seia remembered correctly, a flash of light would be able to disorient them for just a moment. Enough to allow Celestia and other followups to land their combined succession of strikes on the obelisk undisturbed.

Taking her sheathed blade in her hand, she began to cast a Hymn, and enchanting it into her blade's sheath.

[ "Oh kindest light. Cleanse and purify. Blind evils with your untainted brilliance. Before you evil shall pause and know penitence...!" ]

She drew out her blade, and threw the sheathe. It impaled into the ground before the crystal.

[ "...Spike Lumination!" ]

Calling out the spells name, It's effect manifests in the form of an intense and immediate area flash. Whether it was through holy power or the immediate blinding light. The zombies closest to the obelisk were forced to pause.

The Praetorian landed before the obelisk. The pink ribbon - her durable and malleable Historia, wrapped itself around her fencing sword, reinforcing it in anticipation. As she readied swinging blows using the full core and torsion in her upper body and legs, the blade began to glow and steam in the couple of milliseconds before she swung her blade, Nova with all her might.

Two slashes that radiated flames each time they made contact with the obelisk.
Shards of the pillar came off. But it still wasn't enough to topple it.

"...Not enough?"

Clucking her tongue in a dissatisfied gesture, she plucks her sheath off the ground. She returns to the air by running up the crystal before taking flight. With her gone, the next attack and attempt to down the obelisk.

The responses she got for potentially discovering a new civilisation outside of Phantasmagoria was met with less favor than she had hoped for.

At the very least, Parou wasn't going all xenophobic on them and ordering everyone to prioritise the obelisks first. If they manage to repel the undead, it was all good. If not, they weren't worth batting an eye to. Whatever the case, they would serve as perfect distractions for the creatures of Lemuria. She seemed awfully pissed too that Celestia didn't get to scout Section 5. For a moment, the witch was about to argue that she'd garner way too much attention if she proceeded further behind enemy lines but decided to hold back on it. She knew full well by now what type of person their de facto leader is so she realized wasting her breath explaining herself wasn't worth it when it was almost certain it would fall on deaf ears.

Aurora gave her a more plausible reason to not get too attached with the alien life forms she encountered. She was reminded that for all intents and purposes, the strange humanoids could very well be a form of manablight. While that is the standard operating procedure witches were taught whenever they encountered anything of peculiarity in Horizon, entertaining such an idea would give birth to an all new possibility that manablight can produce some type of advanced, foreign technology.

She remembered a story about two gods. One made of flesh and one made of metal. The flesh God represented primal instinct and desire while the metal God represented intelligence and progress. The two gods were at war to determine which would have control over humanity's nature. If those humanoids were indeed also manablight, why was it fighting against the undead who should also be manablight? Could it be at war against itself? She may never get to find out but that was an interesting hypothesis.

She flashed a grateful smile towards Aurora when she offered her a cup of hot chocolate. Taking a sip, she allowed herself to be momentarily embraced by the warmth the drink provided and the ample sweetness that tickled her senses. It was just what she needed to retain her focus at the task at hand.

"Yeah you're right. I'm not going to be stubborn enough to insist what I saw are real human beings. It could very well be Manablight attempting to lull me into a trap."

Sacrificing a part of itself to lure unsuspecting pray is also a feasible strategy. It could feign vulnerability to expose the vulnerability of others. That was a dangerous tactic indeed and had she allowed herself to fall for her curiosity, she wouldn't be enjoying this warm cup of cocoa with her friends.

"Thanks for reminding me, Aurora. And thanks for the hot choco as well! That's exactly what I needed to get my head back in the game. I'm glad that we're in the same party."

The sandy blonde witch gives Aurora a tight hug before returning the now empty cup to her.

Eirlys also shared Aurora's sentiments and Celestia returns an understanding and grateful nod in her direction.

Seia seems to not have any comments regarding her findings. Either she wasn't surprised, thought it was just manablight, or she felt the same way as Parou.

Finally, Melora voiced her thoughts about the unidentified individuals , pretty much confirming the collective vote of the group to just leave them be and focus on the task at hand.

"Very well, Option 1 it is then. I have no complaints."

-------------------------------

Once the party arrived near the first obelisk, Parou gave some last minute instructions regarding their method of attack... Unfortunately for her, it would seem that Melora was itching for some action as she took the initiative when she dive bombed towards the base of the obelisk. Her magic apparently did some decent damage to the obelisk.

Seia quickly followed up with her own attack, blinding the undead in the area first before using her sword to deliver two fiery slashes.

However, it became apparent that their attacks weren't sufficient in toppling the obelisk down.

For a moment, Celestia considered using her magic to attack the ebony structure. However, a glimpse of her scythe gave her the idea that its properties should be more useful for this target.

As soon as Seia was out of the way, Celestia performed a nosedive with her brrom, aiming towards the base of the obelisk were her two other teammates landed their attacks. Green smoke started spewing out of Fabula Secare as the sandy blonde witch willed the properties of the World Serpent's fang to take effect. The air suddenly became still as she delivered a wide horizontal slash with her scythe. As soon as the scythe came in contact with the structure, it emitted a green, viscous, acidic substance that began melting away the Obelisk.

As soon as she had done this, she quickly pulled up out of range of the undead before waiting for her other comrades to make their move.

"How creepy..." Aurora murmured as the descended into the black abyss. It only got worse. The smells of rotting flesh, the hoards of nasties. No good.

"Ah, okay, that sounds easy enough," Aurora answered Parou with a little salute. "Just give me a minute or two..."

The others, obviously, did not.

Nor did Rune.

Before she could even draw even the border of her little magic circle on the ground, the others had rushed the pillar, smashing it to pieces.

"Oh. Um... okay, nice! Good work, team!" She shot a thumbs up their way, returning the chalk into her backpack.

Even without following Parou's plan to fullest detail, with the combined might of Hit it really hard at one spot, the Crystalline Onyx tower yielded. One crack turned into two, and with its singular point weakened, each subsequent attack adorned its once perfect surface in countless wrinkles.

With one final attack by Rune, the bottom of the tower shattered with an ear-piercing crack into hundreds of shards. Too much. In fact, as the rest of the structure collapsed into itself. Shaking earth and heaven alike.

With the light-absorbing void-like color making place for a simple, dull, dark, the Witches of Phantasmagoria suddenly realized. Maybe it had been because they haven't known any better, like a gradual stench that one's nose simply got used to before realizing its smell. But now, with the tower gone, it felt like some sort of invisible burden had been removed. Their hearts already beating one tune lighter.

As the dust and debris settled, with the group already on their way to Section 3, one was also able to observe a good chunk of the living corpses simply breaking down. With the others, remaining, just standing there.

BOOM—

Suddenly, short of arriving at Section 3, making a big circle around 2, the entire island seemed to shake as a visible shock-wave from the south-west was raising dust, debris, and black splinters alike.

Was this enough to make the group change course? Not likely, besides...

This time, it was different. Three towers, standing there, with countless Undead scattered around. The terrain and resulting wind-tunnels were annoying enough that they had to put some amount of effort into staying afloat.

This time, it was different. Their hollow and red eyes, focused on the interlopers. Among them, 3 cloaked figurines, clearly just about to start working some sort of magic. A high-threat target, as the primer described. Yet, even aside those, among the horde of monsters that could do nothing more than watch the Witches greedily, hoping for them to be their next meal, two more notable figurines stood out.

One, a paragon among injustice, sticking out like a sore thumb. Clad in a dirtied armor adorned by a white&gold pattern, had already pulled the bow-string of a bow at least his own size. A spear resting on his back.

The other, a giant naked skeleton. With a bow that could well be categorized as a siege weapon. One had to wonder thou, why was it pulling back the empty bow-string, without arrows or such?

Nonetheless, with three towers, and a few enemies that looked like they could hurt the Witches even afloat, clearing this place seemed certainly harder than the other. Not to mention the element of surprise was now gone.

Parou's expression didn't change as Melora broke ranks immediately after her plan was detailed, causing all other witches to pulverize the base of the obelisk. It was a pity that they didn't have the oppurtunity to see how effective Eirlys's 'tree-felling' tactic was, but that was all it was. A pity. While the Witches had their fun, the lavender-haired diva glanced in Eirlys's direction. She hadn't acted during all this, but why?

Questions left unanswered. If the Metal Sea preferred to strike only at the end, then that will be taken into account. Other things to be taken into account: Melora and Aurora's Historia both hit hard. Celestia's scythe has an acid effect. Seia was trained but unremarkable. As the obelisk broke into bits, Parou hefted Telorias Marxiwen over her shoulder and sped off once more, leading the way to the next Section.

Only a powerful shockwave gave her pause, obsidian splinters falling like rain. Southwest. Section 4?

Maybe those magicless savages had some value after all.

Nevertheless, the pale witch continued on, airy steps propelling her easily through the powerful winds that whipped around Section 3, her hairpins still ensuring that nothing fell apart. Stopping once the area emerged before her, Parou glanced down below at the seething hordes, the trio of pillars, the two undead who were certainly special, certainly dangerous. There was no fear or apprehension in her eyes, however, merely cool disdain as she stood unbothered by the turbulent airspace. Seia's words were sound, but required no acknowledgement; the Praetorian had echoed Parou's own thoughts. Active threats were to be taken care of first. Attempts at coordination against the pillars will follow after.

"Seia, I'll create an opening, so strike down the skeleton. Melora, the armored one. Celestia, Aurora, the cultists. Eirlys, finish off whatever's left. Ignore the horde." In the wind, her Historia hummed like an instrument, the sharpened fang as eloquent as a flute. "Afterwards, we will immediately engage the southernmost tower, with the focus being to collapse it against the northernmost one, using the same combination previously described."

It was a simple matter of order. If they had forgotten it already...no, Parou had no such expectations for them. If they did, they simply did.

"Let's begin."

With that, the gossamer wings on Parou's artificial feet dissipated, brilliant feathers scattering in the wind as she fell out of the skies. A wall of wind pushed up against her, but her form was sleek enough that she simply slipped through, her eyes a violet flash, Telorias Marxiwen a lunar flash. Tumbling twice to build up centrifugal force, she swung down against the bow of the bone-giant, her fang-blade biting into the weapon, before resonating with it. Amongst the shuffling of the undead, the dark atmosphere of obelisks, the chime of a saintly bell sounded, bright and pure. Immediately, the joints of the creature shook, momentarily stunned, and Parou planted her magisteel legs against its shoulders, kicking off.

White wings spilled out from her shoes once more, and she shot skywards, not even bothering to see if Seia had followed up.

If she did, good. If she didn't, Parou didn't care.

Content with her showy use of force, Melora didn't continue the effect. By now, Parou probably had the wrong idea of what Melora's Historia actaully was. Maybe she could ask about it later, if she cared enough. However, the large shockwave was distracting enough to cause her to pause for a moment. But it wasn't enough to pull her completely off task. Not as long as Parou was in charge. It was mission first, enjoyment and experiences second.

"I really hope that the tech is all still mostly intact over there..."

Parou barked orders, and Melora didn't have the capacity to argue it. Picking a wide area would lower her ability to take care of those bigger monsters quicker and those bows looked like they would hurt. So, being a pawn for the jerk Parou it was.

"Aye aye captain. Just bear in mind that appearances are deceiving. What you see me do may not be what my powers actually are..."
Melora smiled ominously. Not that it would have been apparent, because the mask hid her face. Stupid mask, ruining her line and expression.

Then, with an extended hand pointed at the Champion Armor monster and sent off a small bead of fire. It traveled down to the armor where is paused on contact and then... exploded in a huge burst of fire and flames. Melora briefly considered if she wanted to get the hot cocoa from Aurora as she floated above the writhing mass. No doubt the other cultists would punish her and the others, but at the same time she really just didn't... care.

"Hey Aurora! You still have hot chocolate in that thermos? I'm thinking we drink some after we're done!"

4d6 [Melora fires at Champion Armor MAGIC (4)!] = (6+4+1+5) = 3 progress!

Landing on the ground after Parou lifted back up unto the air. Seia took advantage of the opening. The particular abomination she'd been told to target was none other than this large target. Wide and cleaving slashes would be required. The Monster Slayer discipline. Like before, her Ribbon Historia encased her fencing blade. In doing so, it became more akin to a longsword with a jagged edge.

She wasn't going to try to hack at something so big, however. It was a bit big, but the bones certainly could not have been as solid as the Obelisks they topped down earlier.

Her blade began to glow with a golden hue. Without hesitation, she slashed into the air.

Golden crescents made in the wake of those slashes began to pound away at the monster. But the attack wouldn't end there. The Praetorian Feet a certain momentum to carry on, she charged forward. With energy still charged. She unleashed it on the Skeleton at close range. It was a two step attack. The barrage of flying slashes to weaken the skeleton's structure, then a blast of energy to hopefully topple it in a single action.

Indeed, the skeleton shook violently, prices off it flew off after being blasted by the energy.

But, it still stood and moved. Like it was making a mockery of Seia's efforts. This irritated her immensely.
The combo worked flawlessly on the oversize training dummy, and it had no problem working every time. So why was this weak thing still standing!?

"Tch...! Die already!"

One last push would take it out.
Seia turned on her heel. There was a point on the monster that, if she landed a clean hit, would make it completely unstable. She can take it out with a single Fatal Strike. She charges into the skeleton, aiming for a crucial spot with her sword...

Instantly, Seia finds her body skidding against the ground.

"Ngggh-...!"

The skeleton had managed to knock into her the moment before she could carry through with her attack. It failed.
She had to get airborne again. She had to...
Everything became quiet.

Seia was looking directly at the skeleton archer. It was reeling from the damage it had taken, but seemed to be struggling.

It's many shambling pieces, with all their might, tried to 'prostrate' towards her.
An empty, ancient voice spoke into the Praetorian's very being.

[ [ I am pleased to have had a chance to spar a round. Even if twas only once more. Most splendid, Herr Au...- ] ]

That was coming from the skeleton-?
Seia was given no time to ask. For after it relayed this last sentiment, it finally crumbled into a heap on the ground.
The sound of it crumbling accompanied her senses returning to normal.

Whatever that was, it was likely but another ruse. She completed her task. She had to return airborne.

Unfortunately, seemed like if the voice - if it was trying to distract her - had done it's job.

A couple of zombies that had came too close to Seia, and had to be smacked away. This, Impeding her ability to return airborne immediately. In a battle such as this... that gave the foe a distinct opening.

@Skyswimsky @ERode

After the first obelisk was sent toppling down, the crew werent allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Not with Drill Sergeant Parou leading them.

The goal-minded de facto leader would lead the squad to Section 3 where 3 additional obelisks were located and a bunch more nasties were lying in wait. Since there were actual threats this time around, they couldn't focus on taking down the Obelisks right away. Thus, they need to do a bit of clean up before they could play a game of magical lumberjack one again.

A vast majority of the horde would prove to be of no immediate threat... That is if everyone could focus enough to continue channelling magic to their brooms in order to maintain their flight. Despite the troublesome turbelance, Celestia was able to pull it off and now set her sights on the latest target Parou assigned for her: one of two cultists.

"Right away, O' fearless and tireless leader."

Seeing her target made Celestia's face contort to a twisted smile. She wanted desperately to attack the cultists she saw earlier by the weird vessel's wreck but their number proved to be troublesome. But now there were only two of them and she only needed to eradicate one.

The sandy blonde witch wasn't going to take her chances, however, deciding to attack from afar and using a spell to crush the Cultist like the bug it was.

With a snap of her fingers, several menacing longswords materialised around her. She launches one of the floating sword towards the first Cultist, probing it for any defensive measures. The sword ends up shattering before it could touch the Cultist, but it also ends up shattering what weak defensive spell the Cultist could muster.

"Checkmate." as soon as she uttered those words, the remaining swords flew with incredible speed towards the Cultist. The first finds it mark, lodging itself into the Cultist's chest, right through its heart. The second followed shortly behind, and with a loud, sickening crunch, impaled the Cultist's head with enough force to send the spellcaster flying towards a nearby tree where its lifeless body hanged like a ragdoll left to dry in the sun. The other swords that didn't hit the Cultist ended up hitting a few undead here and there but not enough to cause extensive damage to their ranks.

With her objective complete, she looks expectantly at Aurora, eager to see how her friend would dispose of the second Cultist bug.

4d6 [Celestia stays afloat using her broom with MAGIC (4)!] = (1+2+5+6) = 14 = 2 Progress!

4d6 [Celestia attacks Shadow Cultist A with MAGIC (4)!] = (5+6+2+6) = 19 = 3 Progress!

Eirlys nodded in recognition of the orders, drawing in a deep breath to center herself. Her heart thundered in her chest, pounding against her ribs as though it wanted to tear itself out; but at least Parou listened to her suggestion. Not down to the exact detail, but it was good enough. Good enough to give her a little bit of courage, then hand out her armbands to the rest of the group, telling them the details of how they worked, then demonstrating them. They would not give extreme protection, yet at the same time, they could make the difference between life and death just like on their first mission.

Then, within moments, they took off.

Soaring through the air, she started her work on symbols before even arriving, gathering her momentum before the final strike. Small circuits of Flowiron crept around her hands, kept in motion by magic, creating an intricate lacework. Therefore, she was ready when they arrived. Unfortunately, Melora broke the order of battle. Put off-balance, Eirlys launched her attack a touch too early and though her Flowiron slammed into the obelisk at full force, it was Rune's attack that ultimately defeated it, shattering the base into shards. The massive structure tipped over in a shower of shards, scattering across all directions of the wind. Exactly the opposite of what Eirlys hoped.

Nevertheless, Eirlys swooped in for a fragment of the obelisk, grabbing it out of thin air before she circled back to the group, heart beating in her throat. She... she made it! A smile spread on her face as she looked at the fragment; only a bit of what she hoped to gain from the venture, but it would have to be enough. She could still see if it held any magical properties at home and so without thinking, she deposited it inside her Historia's abstract space.

Refocusing on their objective, Eirlys felt a strong wind slam into her wings as soon as they arrived at the second site. Once again, Parou gave her orders and she followed, gathering Flowiron into a network of symbols behind her back, watching the battle unfold so she could strike down the foes who remained. Hear team-mates' attacks played out in just a few seconds and soon, she had her target: the remaining cultist. They were somewhat distant, as she had hung back for her own safety.

Her target chosen, Eirlys closed her eyes. She stretched her arms in front of her. Brought her fingers together. Cast her arms sideways and downwards, dropping into a bow. Flapped her wings to gain momentum, twisting to the right. Using a drop of heated flowiron to finish the pattern around her, slotting the last few lines into its place and completing the circuit. Then, her Flowiron poured forth.

Guided by her symbols, a hailstorm of projectiles cut through the air, spreading too wide and thick to dodge. They tore the last cultist to pieces.

Actions:
Eirlys stays afloat [2 progress].
Eirlys attacks Shadow Cultist B [2 progress].

"Somanyzombies..."

Aurora stared down at all the horrific hoards with disgust and just a pinch of fear. Any more fear, and you'd have a fear-flavored Aurora, which tasted horrible. Fear was just a garnish, and she'd add no more to her life's recipe.

Time to think was once again at a premium, and they were off before Aurora could even glance throughout the entire room. With a sigh, she quickly reached into her backpack and pulled out a stick-on glyph, slapping it to her back. Lights danced from the inscription down to her shoes as she casually walked up the air, standing there like there was a platform underneath her.

"So many creeps... Ya know, that one spell I read about last week would be perfect for this if I just tweaked it a bit..."

Rune hovered beside her, giving her human a disapproving look.

"Plus if I can get it working, we could clear out the rest of this place a lot quicker..."

...a very disapproving look.

"Let's do it!"

Raising a hand into the air, she began to chant in a sing-song chiming tone. Colors danced, sparkly dust particles winking to life then fading from existence, merging into a swirling vortex of magical energy on the ceiling of the cavern. Random objects around the room began to glow an ethereal blue color: a cultist, several bundles of zombies, an obelisk, even Aurora!
