A horrified gasp left her lips as she raised her hands to cover her mouth, hold back a scream of her own. She stared at him, wide-eyed. She had to do something, she had to stop him, but... dear gods.... how? Although she didn't wish to be, having seen that gentle, child like side of him, Asuka was terrified, and she couldn't move.

One soldier quickly grabbed the Priestess by her arm and yanked her back against him, a sword pressing to her slender throat. A thin trickle of red made its way down her soft golden skin.

He turned toward the noises that was close to the priestess

And froze.

It wasn't fear that looked at the soldier. It was pure rage. So much rage that the soldier himself flinched from the bloodless the creature emmited. He didn't have time to make the creature pay for what he was doing to his priestess.

There was a blur as he kicked a rock off the ground. It flew up and hovered for a split second before he kicked the thing straight into the soldiers eye. It killed him instantly.

He sprinted for the priestess, grabbing her and holding her still as he examined the cut. Genuine fear and worry across his face for only her to see. When he confirmed she was in fact safe from harm, he sighed, his body going limp from the sheer relief.

That relief quickly grew into fury as he stood between the soldiers and the priestess. Eyes wild. Manic.

Bloodthirsty.

Asuka's brow creased as he pulled her close, and she bit her lip as one warm hand lifted to briefly brush his cheek before he turned. She gave a quiet gasp and grabbed his arm, hugging it to her soft body as she looked up into his eyes, her own pleading. If he was to destroy these soldiers now, not only might it enrage their lord into sending more, but it might become impossible for the townspeople to accept her taking him in. He had made his point with those two, perhaps the men would be willing to leave now, knowing there was someone like him protecting this place.

The soldiers were in fact terrified of the creature. Their captain too scared to give the order to attack and provoke the beast further.

When she grabbed his arms, he snarled at her, thinking she was anot attacker. When he realised who it was, he flinched visibly. He looked at her guiltily, gently pulling her arm off of him. He made sure he understood by giving a simple nod. No more violence. He already stained her robes with enough blood.

After he freed himself, he walked to a rather big rock at the Stonemason. He picked the thing up with a grunt and carried it to the middle of the two once more. He pointed to the captain, then to the large rock.

He really hoped the Mason was making cobblestone, because he started beating the rock until it crumbled to just that, his hands were bloody, but he sent the message.

The captain cleared his throat, hiding his terror "I think it best we leave and tell out lord of this new.... figure. Back to the manner!" He yelled, far too eager to turn around and walk suspiciously fast into a March that was neither slow nor forced

Asuka flinched when he growled at her, but gave a small, trembling smile in response to his apologetic look. She folded her hands in front of her and watched nervously as he retrieved the stone, and all that followed.

When the soldiers were finally out of sight, she felt her knees give out, a weak gasp of relief leaving her as she sagged.

Her collapsing sent him into alarm, and in a heartbeat he was there, holding her in his arms and looking at her with worry

Her breathing was heavy, but she gave a small reassuring smile up at him, lightly patting his cheek in thanks. She was so glad that he had listened, that he had stopped for her. After a few moments of regaining her breath she carefully stood, an arm on his for support, and smiled warmly at the onlooking townspeople, shooing them off again, a bit more insistently this time.

He sheepishly followed her, all previous thoughts abandoned as he prioritized her getting back to full strength. It must've been a harrowing thing. He allowed her full rights to use his body as a crutch while she shooed the people away

She leaned against him a bit more heavily as the people reluctantly dispersed, sighing tiredly. Asuka then straightened, and began to make her way back into the temple.

She needed to bathe... and she needed to pray. She hesitated a bit, glancing back at the two bodies in the courtyard. Her face paled once again.

His hands clenched so badly when he saw how she feared him, that he cut into his own hands with his claws.

He couldn't show her, wouldn't. She was scared of him now, that would never change. He still wanted to be close thiugh, so maybe he should hide his nature a bit more? Was that even possible for him?

Asuka hurried back into the temple. She made it to her own chambers, her own bathing room, before she was sick. Her body rebelled against her fierce desire to keep her composure, and tears trickled down her cheeks as she wiped her mouth clean.

She had never seen anyone die before. She had seen death, she had seen carnage, even just when she came to meet the strange creature he had been covered in blood and surrounded by corpses. But she had never witnessed it before. She had never had someone standing right behind her be killed. Had their warm blood splatter onto her shoulder.

A ragged sob left her as she discarded the bloodied gown and slipped into the warm bath water, curling into a ball.

He was a but behind her, following her until she went to the bathes and closed the door. His heart sank as he heard her vomit. He heard her sobbing

Sobbing because he scared her.

He stormed out of the temple, eyes alight with rage, as he wandered into the forest. Concluding he was secluded enough for nobody to hear, he grabbed a large tree with both hands and started headbutt ING it furiously.

He caused her to cry.

He caused her fear.

The rage he had boiled inside him all turned inward as he released a howl of rage, his face getting bloodied by the second

Once she was clean, she lay in her tub, pale blonde hair drifting around her as she stared up at the ceiling. She had to make sure those bodies were moved... Taking a deep, shuddering breath, she got out of the tub and dried herself, slipping into a clean white gown after re braiding her hair. She made her way to the sanctuary, walking to the round altar at the front of the room and kneeling there, hands resting on her chest and head lowered.

She prayed. She prayed to the Balance, for wisdom and for strength. For patience, and bravery. The knowledge she would need to get them through the dark days she could feel coming just over the horizon.

He came in ten minutes after she started praying, his face a bloodied mess from hitting a tree several dozen times. He washed up in the river close by. Deciding to rather hide out in one of the rooms, he crawled into a guest room aMD went to sleep.

Well he tried to, but the bed was too soft. He unceremoniously crawled out of bed and onto the floor, sleeping soundly after five minutes.

His nightmares came in ten.

He was left a gibberish, howling mess as he slept, thrashing around with his claws and making it impossible for someone to get close to him without risking bring strick

Even as she prayed, she couldn't ignore those cries. Asuka stood, biting her lip lightly as she left the sanctuary. Her loose white gown swirled around her legs as she hurried through the halls of the temple to find him. She saw him, writhing, crying out in pain or fear. It pierced into her gentle heart, and carefully she crept closer, wishing that she could speak to soothe or wake him.

She winced as a hand that reached out to touch his head was caught by the flailing claws, a slight hiss of pain leaving her.

The hiss was all that he needed to scare awake and lung for her. His for arm pressed down into her neck, eyes wild and terrified before he blinked, regaining his wit.

His eyes shot wide with terror, more so than with his nightmare. He lunged back, slamming his body against the wall with enough force to make the room quake. He looked consumed by guilt as he took control of his breathing.

He howled with anger, digging his claws onto his shoulders, pushing his legs to somehow get further away from her, lessen her chance of getting hurt

She stared up with equal terror, her deep blue eyes wide as he glared down at her. Then she watched his abrupt change, sitting up slowly and gripping at her chest as she struggled to calm her own started breathing and pounding heart. Blood trickled down her hand from the two scratches on it.

Asuka stood slowly and carefully, she made her way towards him. She held out her uninjured hand towards him, palm up, unthreatening, as she had when he first met her. She gave a slighty trembling smile. It's alright, she tried to tell him with her eyes. You're safe, and I'm okay. Calm down, it's alright.

He pulled further away, shaking his head furiously at her offer. He dug his claws into his chest as he tried to push into the wall with his legs. He hurt her. He was terrified of her. Terrified that he'd hurt her.

Asuka bit her lip, and she knelt down in front of him, just a couple feet away. She sat there, hands resting in her lap, and just looked at him calmly. Silently waiting for him to become calm, wordlessly showing that she wasn't going anywhere until he did so.

He couldn't grasp how she didn't run after the horrible things he put her through. He eventually just looked at her with confusion. He had to talk to her. He had to express his feeling.

"Whhhhh"

He started, his throat rejecting his attempts. His face became taught and be strained

"Why....
