Since the tides had turned a bit, Yusuke decided to go for trivia now. He pressed button 2.

Question: How many Murder Tales had a bad ending?

"Ahahaha!! Ahahahahaha!!!" Yumeko was too far gone at this point. Pressing the green button five times, she made out with two more points. Yusuke would also earn a point, and Risky would find herself at 0.

"Man, you just wanted to die, huh? Boooooring! If it were in my power, I woulda just made ya live!"

"Lucky for you...it's the machine that kills you! Bon voyage, landlubber! Ahahahaha!!"

Risky's coaster seat would stop in place, shaking. Gears would pop free in an almost cartoonlike fashion, and steam would erupt from the machine. Any attempt to escape would fail, but it wouldn't last long. Suddenly, the seat would stop malfunctioning, back to normal. That wasn't so bad...

SPROOOOIIIING!!

Risky's chair would launch out of the coaster, ejected by a large spring. The chair, with Risky still attached, would soar in an arc, landing miles away in the ocean. In only a few seconds, the only thing to turn up would be a bandana.

Runa shook her head somberly. "Nothing more fitting for a pirate than to be lost at sea. Now, unless you wanna end up the same way...keep playing!"

Risky would wake up in a...storage closet? Gross.​

Risky Boots recoiled from the blast of hissing steam that hit her face dead-on, and brought her hands up to guard herself from it. As bolts popped loose, screws rattled free, and the whole thing fell apart, the lady-pirate anticipated what surely was to follow. But as she was left hanging, Risky tilted her head as all the buildup quickly hit a cliff and dove right off. "Ha-ha! The hornswaggling brat said I was-"

"-boooooriiiiiing!"

Risky Boots shrieked the whole time she was in the air, being flung far far away from the park and its patrons, sounding oddly gleeful. Past a certain point though, her voice faded out entirely, accentuated by a sharp but distant ding!

In the closet

Abruptly awaking inside the storage closet, Risky Boots took a long, panicked gasp for breath in while clutching her chest. Falling back to lean against something inside the closet (hopefully soft) her eyes were wide with pupils dilated, and temples tight in distress. Hyperventilating, Risky quickly scanned her surroundings within the closet while she tried to wind herself down.

Well, this wasn't looking good. Yusuke swallowed hard and rolled his dice, feeling his heart begin to race as he did. If this didn't go well, it could be the end for him. He had to be prepared.

"At least winners have been decided!" Runa pressed a button on her remote control, and all coastees save for Yusuke's, Talon's, and Yamashiro's left the ride to the ground. "Congrats, Hina, you're safe for now!"

The coasters would let everyone out once on the ground, just as Mary and Dum returned. "Is the game already over?"

"Almost...they have yet to decide who dies. It appears it may be Yusuke this time." Yumeko did attempt to lighten up, however. "I finally got to gamble, Mary! Where were you?"

"That's good, at least...and I needed to use the bathroom. My escort got us lost, though."

"Oi! Ain't my fault I'm unfamiliar with this place! Better than you tryin' to escape, girlie!"

"Yeah, yeah...whatever."

Dee would present Rita, Alesha, and The Doctor with their prizes. "Here ya go! One coin for the Doc, two for Alesha, and to Miss Rita...well, you'll get it next game."

Risky's silence wouldn't last long, however, as soon the closet door would be opened by a certain tyke.

"Who are you?!" Bowser Jr shouted as he pointed an accusing finger at the pirate. He had originally looked into the closet to find toys because he none of his "babysitters" were paying attention, but he found a weird pirate lady instead!

Understandably, Bowser Jr was the victim in this circumstance.

One blue coin or two... it seemed Alesha had truly lucked out in her positioning. Without much flare or dramatics, the warrior simply cast the die in the air, content with whatever result it gave.

When he rolled the lowest number possible, Yusuke paled, feeling his heart stop in his chest and heat rise into his face. He grabbed the sides of his face dramatically and cursed. Although he was know to be a bit dramatic, and sometimes over silly things, this time he had every right to be worried.

"I'm done for," he whispered, shocked. He had witnessed so many deaths already, but it had never really sunk in until now that he could be one of the next to go. His dice roll had changed everything.

With stalled breathing, he eventually dropped his hands down. He was white as a ghost and his arms shook. The boy knew in the back of his mind that there was a chance someone else could roll a one and he might not die, but he was blindsided with negative emotion.

His thoughts momentarily drifted back to his friends at home. Would they notice he was gone? Would it bother them? Would... his sensei care?

Yusuke cursed again, feeling weak for bringing thoughts of that man into his head. But he couldn't help it that he sought comfort in thoughts of the man who raised him, thoughts of familiar things.

He would be shaken from his thoughts, after a moment, when their group would disembark from the coasters. He fell onto his knees at first instead of walking away, but eventually stood back up again and walked over to Alesha. Mechanically, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper. It was the sketch he had drawn of her. He placed it in her hands. If she would unfold it, Alesha would see Yusuke had also given her the #5 ticket that Risky had given him.

"You need to win," he said, putting on a brave face. He didn't want to give up, but he had to face facts that the odds of him surviving were very low. "I believe in you," he added before glancing to wherever Hiyori was. "Please watch over Hiyori-san. I promised Yato-sama that I would, but..."

The teen anxiously adjusted the collar of his shirt. "...I can't keep his promise," he whispered, his voice breaking. He had failed.

It wasn't the only promise he would be breaking either.

"I told him... I would capture his smile in my art one day... but I'll never again lay hands on a paint brush," he muttered, this time speaking to himself.

I'm sorry, Akira.

All I wanted was to paint. That's... all I wanted.

The roller coaster and battle were actually fun for Yamashiro. Though the height of the travel was not her favorite part... getting to ride at higher speeds and feel the wind against her face and hair reminded her of being out the ocean. Once that was over, though, she stared at another game of chance... would the battleship's infamous fortune shine on her again?

She hoped not. She took a deep breath, and took hold of the dice as they were directed to do so.

"Dice, please keep me from going to the other side..."​
