Murder Game XVI: The Time Crisis (IC)

Mid-Round Update

As the battles concluded, both outside, and within the walls... It seems evident that destroying their source, had somehow put a stop to them entirely, as if it had been the only thing keeping them... Functional in this place.

During the time those who had arrived here through that time gate, regardless of where they were, news eventually reached them one way or another that someone named "Yalena" wanted to speak fo them. With the description given of her appearance, it was quickly evident that she was the young woman that had met up with them earlier.

To Recap, this is what she looks like

Whatever horses and wagons that could be spared, were used to help transport the "cast" of this crazy venture towards a place not far off from the Recon Corps outpost.

Despite the fact that she was part of the Garrison Division, or so it seemed... Even the Recon Corps seemed to give her some space, allowing her, and the rest of the group the privacy that they needed in order to cover what was happening next. Though, she was bent over, having been checking the pulse of the limp body of Blaze the Cat was spotted laying around the scene.

After a few brief moments, she looked up, not seeming very happy about what she was about to say.

"... She's dead..." She said quietly.

It was a little tough to see the body from here, but it was evident that the kill had happened relatively recently, as even Yalena seemed to have just stumbled across it.

A grave look on her face, looked up... Evidently realizing what had to be done.

"... Like last time... We vote." She said simply, rubbing her forehead.

If it weren't obvious enough before, whoever had been "occupying" Blake's body, was more than likely occupying this one, though unlike before... It didn't seem like anyone thought anything strange about her behavior, at least any of the locals... Huh...

In either case, it was evident that it was time to investigate.

The Recon Corps base was a little too far for someone to have used anything to aid them, but there appeared to be a few smashed supply boxes laying around, alongside a demolished supply cart, so it was entirely possible items could have been used from there... As no-one had come to collect these supplies yet.

However, it was pretty likely that investigating the body as well as the surrounding area may lead to some... Well... Leads...

"Is this all about done yet?" Birdie was getting tired of moving around place to place. "I'm downright famish-"

"Shh!" Noembelu cut him off as she saw Blaze's body. Sure, she and the cat had their differences...but that didn't mean she wanted her dead. Blaze hadn't done anything as sadistic as DIO had, she was a complete innocent. It was wrong. Noembelu joined Danielle in investigating the body, more willing to bring Blaze's killer to justice. Maybe Captain America was right. Maybe, if she could figure out who was doing this...maybe she could be a good person.

Birdie, however, did not share the same sentiment. He made a beeline for the broken supplies, hoping to find any and all food he could.

It was quickly discovered that Blaze's neck was badly bruised, with a distinct, red, ring-like shape surrounding her neck... Though, the bruising looked more prominent at the front of her neck than at the back... Huh.

As for supplies? Birdie found quite a distinct lack of food or water... Which made it clear that this had been some sort of mobile armory that was being lugged around, but amongst various mangled pieces of 3D Maneuver Gear, as that member of the Military Police, from the time he spent within Wall Sina identified it as... There appeared to be chains laying around, which appeared to have once kept the boxes together, which appeared to have sustained a degree of damage.​

Noembelu winced. So, Blaze had been strangled. What a horrible way to go. She inspected Blaze further, trying to see if there was any damage other than the bruising.

At the same time, Birdie looked closer at the chains, to see how they'd been damaged.

Hmm, didn't seem to be much more damage than that... Though the markings did look a little uneven...

Birdie in the meantime found that a portion of the chains had been snapped off, presumably in the midst of the battle that toppled this cart over... Which must have taken place when those creatures had still been around.

However, the snapped off segment appeared to be missing from the immediate area, which seemed unlikely to have happened just by some freak accident...​

She was dead.

"Blaze! No! Please... not you too!" Sonic pleaded, begging for his friend to be alright. It was bad enough that Dio had died on his watch, but now Blaze? One of his friends from his own world?! Tears were swelling up in the hedgehogs eyes as he balled his fists up. How could he let this happen? At least Dio was a pretty messed up guy before, but Blaze? She didn't deserve this. Not to be killed in something that she didn't even wish to be involved with in the first place!

After a few moments of silence, Sonic walked over to the body and began to examine it as well, finding the chains away from the body soon after. Retaining the memory of the marks, Sonic ran over to the chains and tried to see if they matched the marks on her neck.

Breathing in a sharp gasp for air upon wakening, Blaze blinked. Her bright amber eyes grew glossy with tears, while her lips quivered as her stony façade crumbled. Believing herself to be truly alone and relieved of her responsibilities in death, Blaze shut her eyes tight, rolled onto her left side, and sobbed.

With no-one to protect, and no emeralds to guard, Blaze finally allowed herself to feel truly vulnerable.​

Noticing that these marks did indeed match the ones on Blaze's neck, Sonic knelt down and lifted up the chain, noticing the missing segment of it. Sonic would then drop the chain and stand up, searching around the area for the missing segment.

Eventually Sonic did find the missing segment, but it was partially buried into the ground, seeming to have been done in a hurry... But it was still good enough to have been obscured if one didn't look closely.

It looked to have been just barely long enough to wrap around someone's neck, with a fairly obvious spot on one end where it had been torn off of a larger chain...​

Blaze regained consciousness with a rather distinct headache, in a rather desolate place... Where the ground appeared to be made up of some sort of ocean, somehow frozen in time.

Coincidentally, she ended up near Buddy, Ben's Eevee, who had been on guard near a collapsed tower... Though she could see that there was the silhouettes of a blue haired woman, and Dio, who were in a more futuristic building, along with Ben himself, who appeared to be in an alien form right now, having just recently absorbed some machinery.

...

Dio in the meantime, seeming to have been distracted by something Ben was doing in the near distance... May notice the blue haired woman out of the corner of his eye beginning to interact with the holographic display they had been approaching, seeming to be searching for something in the files.

Though, evidently... Someone, or something didn't like it, as an eerie sigh seemed to permeate the area... Before multiple creatures appeared to materialize, out of what seemed like thin air.

Their bodies seemed humanoid, but they had little to facial features... Ghostly, translucent figures, that may have once been human, sometime before they had been entrapped in this place.

They appeared to be swarming around Dio rather aggressively, reaching out their ghostly limbs to touch him... As some even tried to make their way past Dio, towards the blue haired woman...

...

Ben in the meanwhile, found that the computer's files mostly consisted of surveilance footage, mostly of places in Vale itself... The strange, futuristic, yet somehow fantastical city he had visited before he had been transported to this strange place.

Various different pieces of footage littered the screen, and though their titles, which seemed to consist of dates and times seemed rather obscured, the footage itself seemed to be playing on a loop.

The footage itself, appeared to detail various instances of titans overpowering the local populace, with screechers knocking out powers, and titans themselves gobbling up various civilians.

However, what was most notable was four distinct video files;

The first one showed an armored titan, backed up by dozens of screechers ramming into the wall on the outskirts of Vale, with the screechers knocking out the gun emplacements on to.

The second displayed a colossal titan tearing down a tower-like structure, not unlike the now collapsed structure Ben had decided to check out before it abruptly ended.

The third was a bit more blurry, but he could catch a female titan charging her way through the front lines of what appeared to have once been a safe haven... Bringing a horde of both titans, and screechers along with her... The distinct screams of various civilians could be heard before the footage cut out.

The fourth, and final one, displayed that mysterious woman that had fought Cinder, in her mask and all... Appearing to have gained some considerable amount of power somehow; the whole area seemed to be burning, as various soldiers and fighters were either caught within the inferno... Or attempted to flee, before she used her claws to finish them off. She moved with lightning fast speeds... Ones that almost made it seemed like she was disappearing and reappearing as she fought, until she seemed to notice the camera that was filming her... And promptly destroyed it as well.

Evidently, this footage seemed to indicate that this particular structure, was from some sort of alternate timeline... One where Vale was not so lucky... Perhaps this was what could have been... Had Ben and the others not arrived to intervene...​

With a sniffle, Blaze blinked the tears out of her eyes and propped herself up on one shoulder to view the familiar animal.



"You...? W-, What are you doing here? I thought you were sent to-" Blaze's slitted eyes beamed, and she jumped upright in her seat.



"Where's your owner? I need to find him; now." Blaze ordered the Eevee, and repressed her sorrow in the blink of an eye. Alive or dead, no-one were to see any weakness in her. How else, then, would she effectively do her job?

...Well, perhaps there was one person she felt comfortable around.

Appearing to have gained some considerable amount of power somehow; the whole area seemed to be burning, as various soldiers and fighters were either caught within the inferno... Ones that almost made it seemed like she was disappearing and reappearing as she fought, until she seemed to notice the camera that was filming her... And promptly destroyed it as well.

Evidently, this footage seemed to indicate that this particular structure, was from some sort of alternate timeline... One where Vale was not so lucky... Perhaps this was what could have been... Had Ben and the others not arrived to intervene...​

With a sniffle, Blaze blinked the tears out of her eyes and propped herself up on one shoulder to view the familiar animal.

"You...? W-, What are you doing here? I thought you were sent to-" Blaze's slitted eyes beamed, and she jumped upright in her seat.

"Where's your owner? I need to find him; now." Blaze ordered the Eevee, and repressed her sorrow in the blink of an eye. Alive or dead, no-one were to see any weakness in her. How else, then, would she effectively do her job?

...Well, perhaps there was one person she felt comfortable around.

"What is all this?" Upgrade ponders as he looks at the footage placed across this cyberspace. "I don't think it happened like this, like, at all. They lost, we won, right?"

While this occured, Upgrade places his hands on the footage, copying them into his systems. While this occured, the footage would repeatedly play onto the computer screen.

"This looks kinda important. I don't think I want to forget this for now."

"Skree-ee..." Buddy, while a little surprised at Blaze acting up, seemed to understand the gist of what Blaze said. He lead Blaze to what appeared to be a computer, mainly black with a shine of liquid metal, as well as green wire-like markings all over. To top it all off - the emblem of Ben Tennyson's Omnitrix below the screen area.

On the computer screen, the footage of this supposed alternate reality played.

Ben in the meanwhile, found that the computer's files mostly consisted of surveilance footage, mostly of places in Vale itself... The strange, futuristic, yet somehow fantastical city he had visited before he had been transported to this strange place.

Various different pieces of footage littered the screen, and though their titles, which seemed to consist of dates and times seemed rather obscured, the footage itself seemed to be playing on a loop.

The footage itself, appeared to detail various instances of titans overpowering the local populace, with screechers knocking out powers, and titans themselves gobbling up various civilians.

However, what was most notable was four distinct video files;

The first one showed an armored titan, backed up by dozens of screechers ramming into the wall on the outskirts of Vale, with the screechers knocking out the gun emplacements on to.

The second displayed a colossal titan tearing down a tower-like structure, not unlike the now collapsed structure Ben had decided to check out before it abruptly ended.

The third was a bit more blurry, but he could catch a female titan charging her way through the front lines of what appeared to have once been a safe haven... Bringing a horde of both titans, and screechers along with her... The distinct screams of various civilians could be heard before the footage cut out.

"Partner?" a voice emerged from the computer. "I'm a little busy right now, is it urgent?"

The voice then realised something, before a figure on-screen popped in, in a fashion remniscent to Bonzi Buddy or Clippy. It was black with wire markings of green, possibly an alien of sort. The emblem that was quite literally his eye might be a giveaway as to who he was.

"Uh... I don't know if you want to see this, it's not safe for work," the black, green-wired being said, waving his large hands. "Oh! Buddy! You want to introduce me to your new friend? Wait, weren't you the one with the blue guy?"

Pulling the chain out of the ground, Sonic looked at the end that had been broken to determine if the chain was cut or if it was broken with raw strength.

"Phew, what a quick battle..."

The violence surrounding Giorno would end as quickly as it came, prompting the boss to withdraw his Stand from the battlefield. Gold Experience clenched it's fist once before vanishing from view. Giorno quietly leaned down and picked up a handful of coins that emerged from the ground before the boss. Giorno makes copious amounts of cash every week through Passione operations, but wasting good change is foolish. His 'tracker' technique proved to be quite effective in keeping Giorno and his allies unharmed during the operation.

Spotting Seisa and Shichika, Giorno made his way over, side-eying the small object that Noembelu recovered from the titan's corpse. It seemed distinct enough that Giorno was willing to bet that it was the 'trigger' required to escape from this reality. Some relief washed over the boy, but he wouldn't let it cloud his judgement -- the end of this path isn't in sight just yet.

Considering the group didn't identify any Harbingers yet, there may very well be enemies still about. Giorno Giovanna was not willing to let them insult the lives of anyone else.

"I seem to be similar to Seisa; many of the Stand users I've encountered have had some kind of complex ability. People without Stands usually aren't able to see them, however. It makes things even more complex for them."

"I remember...three years ago, I faced a man who had an ability called 'King Crimson'. Even after all this time, I never understood how his ability worked. It's by far the most complex Stand ability I've had to face. It wasn't enough for him to win, however."

Giorno glanced to Seisa, "I've noticed your 'Killing Art' ability seems very much like a Stand, Seisa. Are you sure we aren't from the same reality?"

Giorno was never one to travel much in his lifetime, at least nowhere outside of Italy. His powerful position makes it dangerous and complicated for him to organize trips out of the country, even as much as he'd like to go on vacation. If Seisa was from the same Earth as Giorno, maybe she lives in Japan? One of those days, he should pay a visit.

He could also visit the United States. Head down to Florida, or something.

Seisa remained silent for a few seconds, contemplating the suggested possibility herself. She hadn't ever ventured outside of Japan, and based purely on his name he appeared to be a foreigner. If they called their abilities "Stands" then perhaps it was possible, but there was something else bugging her.

"Indeed, it seems we both are familiar with holders of named abilities. However, there's a notable difference." Seisa raised a single finger while looking Giorno's way. "The humanoid figures you and your late father produced from your bodies. I have never seen anything like that before. At Mikagura Academy, our power usually comes from an item, such as a telescope or a pen. It would seem even if the invocation and results of our abilities might look similar at a glance, there's a core difference we're missing."

Seisa herself happened to be an exception to that rule so it wasn't as though she'd completely thrown the possibility out the window, but if Giorno's Gold Experience and DIO's The World were anything to go by, there was indeed some sort of difference between their abilities.

Though as the group all gathered together again, it seemed the bipedal feline had fallen this time.

Mid-Round Update

As the battles concluded, both outside, and within the walls... It seems evident that destroying their source, had somehow put a stop to them entirely, as if it had been the only thing keeping them... Functional in this place.

During the time those who had arrived here through that time gate, regardless of where they were, news eventually reached them one way or another that someone named "Yalena" wanted to speak fo them. With the description given of her appearance, it was quickly evident that she was the young woman that had met up with them earlier.

To Recap, this is what she looks like

Whatever horses and wagons that could be spared, were used to help transport the "cast" of this crazy venture towards a place not far off from the Recon Corps outpost.

Despite the fact that she was part of the Garrison Division, or so it seemed... Even the Recon Corps seemed to give her some space, allowing her, and the rest of the group the privacy that they needed in order to cover what was happening next. Though, she was bent over, having been checking the pulse of the limp body of Blaze the Cat was spotted laying around the scene.

After a few brief moments, she looked up, not seeming very happy about what she was about to say.

"... She's dead..." She said quietly.

It was a little tough to see the body from here, but it was evident that the kill had happened relatively recently, as even Yalena seemed to have just stumbled across it.

A grave look on her face, looked up... Evidently realizing what had to be done.

"... Like last time... We vote." She said simply, rubbing her forehead.

If it weren't obvious enough before, whoever had been "occupying" Blake's body, was more than likely occupying this one, though unlike before... It didn't seem like anyone thought anything strange about her behavior, at least any of the locals... Huh...

In either case, it was evident that it was time to investigate.

The Recon Corps base was a little too far for someone to have used anything to aid them, but there appeared to be a few smashed supply boxes laying around, alongside a demolished supply cart, so it was entirely possible items could have been used from there... As no-one had come to collect these supplies yet.

However, it was pretty likely that investigating the body as well as the surrounding area may lead to some... Well... Leads...

Dammit! They lost another one in their group. One that had even been in her current group. For now however Danielle went up to the body and did some investigation to see if she could find anything important.

"Is this all about done yet?" Birdie was getting tired of moving around place to place. "I'm downright famish-"

"Shh!" Noembelu cut him off as she saw Blaze's body. Sure, she and the cat had their differences...but that didn't mean she wanted her dead. Blaze hadn't done anything as sadistic as DIO had, she was a complete innocent. It was wrong. Noembelu joined Danielle in investigating the body, more willing to bring Blaze's killer to justice. Maybe Captain America was right. Maybe, if she could figure out who was doing this...maybe she could be a good person.

Birdie, however, did not share the same sentiment. He made a beeline for the broken supplies, hoping to find any and all food he could.

It was quickly discovered that Blaze's neck was badly bruised, with a distinct, red, ring-like shape surrounding her neck... Though, the bruising looked more prominent at the front of her neck than at the back... Huh.

As for supplies? Birdie found quite a distinct lack of food or water... Which made it clear that this had been some sort of mobile armory that was being lugged around, but amongst various mangled pieces of 3D Maneuver Gear, as that member of the Military Police, from the time he spent within Wall Sina identified it as... There appeared to be chains laying around, which appeared to have once kept the boxes together, which appeared to have sustained a degree of damage.​

Noembelu winced. So, Blaze had been strangled. What a horrible way to go. She inspected Blaze further, trying to see if there was any damage other than the bruising.

At the same time, Birdie looked closer at the chains, to see how they'd been damaged.

Hmm, didn't seem to be much more damage than that... Though the markings did look a little uneven...

Birdie in the meantime found that a portion of the chains had been snapped off, presumably in the midst of the battle that toppled this cart over... Which must have taken place when those creatures had still been around.

However, the snapped off segment appeared to be missing from the immediate area, which seemed unlikely to have happened just by some freak accident...​

Whew! That had been an eventful fight. Now all they needed to do was-

....

"B-Blaze?" Sonic asked, looking over her body in disbelief. Oh God... please let her be alright! Not her!

She was dead.

"Blaze! No! Please... not you too!" Sonic pleaded, begging for his friend to be alright. It was bad enough that Dio had died on his watch, but now Blaze? One of his friends from his own world?! Tears were swelling up in the hedgehogs eyes as he balled his fists up. How could he let this happen? At least Dio was a pretty messed up guy before, but Blaze? She didn't deserve this. Not to be killed in something that she didn't even wish to be involved with in the first place!

After a few moments of silence, Sonic walked over to the body and began to examine it as well, finding the chains away from the body soon after. Retaining the memory of the marks, Sonic ran over to the chains and tried to see if they matched the marks on her neck.

Noticing that these marks did indeed match the ones on Blaze's neck, Sonic knelt down and lifted up the chain, noticing the missing segment of it. Sonic would then drop the chain and stand up, searching around the area for the missing segment.

Eventually Sonic did find the missing segment, but it was partially buried into the ground, seeming to have been done in a hurry... But it was still good enough to have been obscured if one didn't look closely.

It looked to have been just barely long enough to wrap around someone's neck, with a fairly obvious spot on one end where it had been torn off of a larger chain...​

A2 grumbled at the sight of another murder. While she was not human, she understood the effects of death, given on what she has seen throughout the years. With the same blank face as always, she stepped over with Seisa to look at the broken down supply cart.
