"Ding ding ding! It's done! It's over!"

Sn1uqaN.png

Monokuma waved his arms in the air, his face growing hot with anger. "Pathetic! This display only goes to show what a bunch of chumps you all are! All this talk of conviction and truth, but it seems you can't seem to find either! Only one vote... you should be thankful it wasn't an incorrect one!"

The wall to the weapons room then slid into the ground, taking Bullet's body with it. The five suspects were free to join the podium group now.

"If you want to know who was to blame, take a gander!"

The monitor showing a feed of the room changed to an earlier recording of when the lights went out. Monokuma pulled out a remote, pausing the feed at just the exact moment the lights in the room flashed for just a second. Pushing aside Victoria and standing where Shane would have been was an unknown man.

4ekqFD2.jpg

Strangely enough, his face was turned slightly toward the camera, a smile frozen on his face.

Victoria stammered at the image. "W-Wasn't that where Shane was?"

Jude's hands gripped his podium, his eyes staring deep into the image before him. "Stiles," he began, not looking away, "didn't you say Wanda's journals mentioned spirits who might possess Shane? I think... Honda was right."

The door into the hallway creaked open as heels were heard on the hard wood floor. Pushing the door open, a female figure appeared in front of the bear and his students.

BsyO23p.jpg

"Well. Hello, everyone. I'm sorry if I am late. Is the trial over?"

She smiled evenly, casually taking a spot at one of the podiums. "I can answer your question, Victoria. That's BOB."

Shane looked like he staring into the abyss as he turned to Wanda. "The fuck? You're suppose to be dead? I-I... Bob? What the hell...?"

Frowning, empathy was evident on the witch's face as she took a breath in. "You see, BOB is controlling you, Shane. I tried to warn you. That's when the darkness and BOB... they tried to attack my mind. Overwhelm my being. I was already weakened mentally and physically. It was a smart move. I was the only thing stopping them, so they needed to get rid of me. They had enough hold on me to trick poor Usami into thinking it was me who asked her to kill me. When, in fact? They had enough control to make me utter those words."

37CcXac.png

"Hehe... you got me! Sometimes dark forces just work together so well!" Monokuma rubbed at the back of his head, looking playful. "He's been a big help, you know! It's just too bad we couldn't keep the Witch down!"

"But... why is Wanda here?" Jude look to the woman as if pleading for answers. "I... examined your dead body."

Daughter began to giggle at that, She brought a hand to her face as she doubled over, her giggles turning into laughter that shook her entire body.

u69Vf4n.jpg

"Haha... Ahahaha!" After a moment, she stopped and sighed, looking up at Jude with a smile. "You all were told that death is not the end in the dark place, why find it so unbelievable? Wanda's soul was taken, where the darkness would warp it for its own creation... and yet, she seems to have remained intact. Usami was right to have brought her here, it seems."

"I'm sorry, Jude. I never thanked you for helping me get away from Shane. I know this is confusing. However, if you read my journal, you know I had a plan."

"I understand, I think, but--"

"But enough talk... the conduit was voted, and so the conduit shall fall. Their souls will be released into the void to become one with Her. One with -

M O T H E R."

Daughter smirked as she casually climbed up and over her podium. She took a slow walk toward the opposite side where Shane stood, raising her knife so that it was point at the man's chest. "Prepare for--"

kiri054.png

"W-Wait, stop!" Kyoko exclaimed, attempting to extend her arm as if to stop Daughter from whatever she was about to do, though before she was able to protest further, she'd break out into another violent cough, causing her knees to buckle for a bit as her body weakened further.

"-- S A L V A T I O N."

"This is insane, you know that? Look, I don't care what the fuck Wanda says. I ain't killed that girl!"

Suddenly, Daughter vaulted into the air, slamming into Shane. The pair slammed to the ground, Shane on his back with Daughter straddling him. She plunged her knife deep into his chest, laughing.

Wanda had tried to act sooner, but Shane was already bleeding out by the time Wanda fired a hex bolt at the girl. Daughter was tossed into the wall. Wanda then turned and threw another bolt Tharja's way, freeing her of the confines of Felix's armor.

SZzi80k.jpg

"No."

As Daughter reeled from the one bolt, a flurry a few more smashed into her, crumbing the wall around her. "Your actions are so flippant, daughter." The rubble around Daughter hardened and change into a cement like former, trapping the girl.

"Do you yield? Or should I turn that cement into lava? You or your mother can't beat me. I know you know that."

"Oh... Really now? You know better than anyone the power of this realm, Witch." Daughter seethed through her teeth. The cement around her cracked and shook, breaking under the girl's sudden burst of strength. She crashed through, laughing and weeping all at once.

Bvml821.jpg

"Truly amazing! You are just so amazing! I'm practically drowning in despair! No matter what I do... you keep coming back! Only in this world of despair could a force such as yourself be born! You're on full display, your potential brought out by the chaos of despair! Amazing... amazing, amazing! Face me! Face me in this arena of despair and let chaos decide the winner!"

Daughter dropped her arms to the side. She looked up into the air, mouth wide open. "Don't you know that -
s a l v a t i o n
is revealed in the -
t r u t h?"

Daughter was enveloped by a flash of light. When it dissipated, the woman was gone, replaced by...

dBGhbfP.png

"Queen Despair is in the house! Junko Enoshima, classic flavor! After ten thousand years, I'm free!" The woman placed her fists on her hips, looking perfectly fine. After a moment of confusion, Wanda fired off another shot, but the blast deflected off some kind of invisible barrier around Junko.

GR1RdDE.png

"Wha--?!"

Kyoko let out a gasp, placing one hand on her chest (which had also began to ache badly) while the other was on the podium for her support, the girl genuinely surprised by the turn of events that had transpired. Part of her felt like she should have seen this coming, all things considered, but... Even so, this kind of development, the facade... What was she even doing here? Was this another incarnation of... her?

Monokuma hopped into Junko's hands.

eEnpQWO.png

"Upupu, thanks for the interesting trial, you guys! Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Despair, was the mastermind all along! That's the most surprising twist I've ever heard of!"

43PS7kf.png

"Perhaps it is unnecessary to state at this point, but Daughter was only ever another persona I went by. However, I must admit that I was becoming bored of her. Perhaps it was cliché of me, but I intended to reveal myself during this trial all along."

78pYCWB.png

"You see, after my red string of fate was cut, I found myself lost. Perhaps it was another kind of fate that I found myself coming across the dark place and the forces it contained. Chaos reigned in the dark place, for it was a realm that thrived on despair. This was incredibly fascinating. I found a kindred spirit in the being known as Mother. Maybe we don't always understand each other, but I am proud to call myself her Daughter."

IfjUhF4.png

"Now listen the fuck up!! You may now know the mastermind, but don't forget the original mission! You fucking degenerates better listen real good, as you have one more vote to do! Who killed Mark Jefferson?! Take my word, it wasn't fucking me! The four here who could have done it are standing right here! Benjamin Horne, Jamie Wright, Stan Larsen, Stephen Holder!" Junko pointed to each of the men in turn.

"Now--"

6Ks0L46.png

"Ugh, you know what? I'm kind of getting bored of that too. Whatever~ We're on the clock here, so hurry up and get to it! It's time for the graduation exam!"

kiri023.png

Panting deeply, her sweats and overall general condition getting worse by the moment, Kyoko tried her best to keep her bearings, glaring at the young woman who called herself Junko Enoshima deliberately.

"You... You won't get away with this..."

The attention of Shane's punishment was drawn from Nono as she gazed upon Kyoko, easing her mind.

"Oh dear, I was almost frightened there..." Nono says, "Kirigiri-san, are you al-"

No, she was not. Nono gazed upon the one Kyoko recognised.

"Ten thousand years? Wha- what's going on, Kirigiri-san? Well, that does explain the outdated fashion sense..." Nono says, "... Enoshima Junko... was it?"

Nono coughed.

"Morikubo has always pictured herself disappearing from the face of Earth in many ways, but vanishing by Monokuma's hands - no - your hands - the hands of a coward who refused to outgrow her childish fantasies - that is not one of them, and it will never be. You may argue how friendship and hope won't save us, but I ask - is this 'despair' thing... any better a salvation? Morikubo is sick and tired of your motivations... or lack thereof... Morikubo... "A bitch, huh? Sure, why not. Is that what you're looking for, a bitch for your collection?" Junko leaned forward over her podium, looking Sledge's way seductively. "Come on, we all know deep down that's what all men desire! Go hog wild... let chaos and despair control you! I want to see how unpredictable you can be!"

"We met that evening after ten, in fact. It was around midnight that we did the exchange."

"We didn't talk to each other or anything before that." Jamie looked around, to see if everyone was paying attention. "Do you understand?"

"I guess we'd more like to know if you talked to Jefferson."

"We did, yeah. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He and I talked around nine."

Jack Frost
@The Tactician @Yun Lee @ShiroKiyoshi @Gummi Bunnies @DapperDogman @Klutzy Ninja Kitty @Crimson Spartan @Trial?

... Jack Frost was just barely late to the vote... Ugh... He really should have voted for shane to be honest, but oh well... Fortunately someone else did the voting for them, it was one vote, but enough to convict the correct killer in time. Now, they had one last case left, and they knew the true face of that "daughter" character... Junko, someone he didn't quite know, but all the same... She was regarded with an equal, if not greater amount of caution he displayed towards the daughter, as they were one and the same.

For a while, he listened to the discussions going on as they tried to pinpoint which of the four killed Jefferson, before he finally spoke, deciding to see if he can spot any... Inconsistencies in the answers to what he was about to ask.

"... So... Jefferson just left like he usually would?" He asked, frowning a little.

All the same, it didn't seem out of the ordinary for Jefferson to do this, and then be ambushed somewhere on his way out... Perhaps before he got to his car, or wherever he was going... What happened after would be up to speculation alone, for the time being.

So Jamie and Horne met around midnight, two hours after Jefferson left his room for the last time. "Stan, how long was your shift that night? And Holder, were you in your room the entire night, or did you leave at any time?"

"Huh. Yeah, I guess it is a bit of a childish fantasy, isn't it? Doesn't mean it can't have some adult consequences." The girl rested casually against her podium. Her lacquered nails tapped against the wood rhythmically. "I don't know what you're going on about when it comes to salvation, though. Despair ain't about that, honey. None of us here are going to find salvation! It's about making the ride toward the end an interesting one. An exciting one! Bombastic!"

She shrugged. "Or. Whatever. Think what you want. Doesn't matter to me. Down here, no matter what you or I say, despair is everything. That's how dear Mother likes it!"

Jamie hadn't been sure how to respond to Jack Frost's question. After a few minutes, he finally said, "it's not like I kept tabs on the guy. We talked. He gave me the money. He left. He didn't seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere."

"My shift was all night," Stan said. "I mean, until one in the morning. You could find me on the security tapes... but I guess those were removed, weren't they?"

"I left here and there to see the sights. You know how it is-- nothing much to sneeze at."

"Tapes!" Monokuma exclaimed. "You always want to see tapes!"

roLnfd6.png

"Good thing I got tapes, huh?"

Monokuma pressed a button on his big fancy remote, starting a new feed. This one was after 10:30, showing Stan on the main floor, working. Jamie was also there at one of the poker tables. "There are no shots of either the casino owner or the detective until around eleven!"

"There is no camera in my office," Horne explained. "But, see there, I am leaving the office at eleven."

"I can tell you where else the cameras aren't present. Where I was."

"The back rooms."

"I-I see..." Jude looked away, a bit embarrassed. "So, uh... not to go off topic, but Stan, we are aware of a connection between yourself and Jefferson. Your daughter is one of the missing girls, and, well..." Jude wasn't sure what to say exactly. He gestured to Holder, who had the folders from the bunker. Stan only stared.

As Holder pointed this, a video feed would show him leaving the back rooms twenty after eleven.

"The time of death was that evening, but it couldn't be determined the exact time, I think?"

Hmm... So no suspicious activity on Jefferson's part as he left, he just sort of... Left as he usually did, which meant at some point during his final departure, someone had shot him. Hmm, but if he had been ambushed near the building, surely someone would have heard something? Which well, still left a large variety of possibilities.

"Holder... Did you find any evidence of a shooting near the lake Jefferson was found in, or the Casino after Jefferson's departure?" He asked.

As unlikely as it was, even a single bullet casing would do them a world of good... Since they might be able to pinpoint the rough area the initial murder was carried out. At the moment, Jefferson could almost have been shot anywhere; right next to the lake, in some alleyway, or on some isoalted street... Heck, even right outside the Casino. Though it was uncertain where Rachel's body came into the picture, as she had been found in that same lake. She might have been there days before Jefferson or-... ...

Could it be that someone caught Jefferson red handed? And... Took some extreme measures to put an end to him? Questions for later, he figured he'd wait for an answer from Holder first, as he seemed to be the most likely to know whether evidence of where the murder may have happened could be found... He was the detective, after all.

"We weren't allowed to examine the lake... I get the sense we wouldn't have found anything anyway."

Both Stand and Horne exchanged confused glances. "What are you talking about?" Horne asked.

Holder cleared his throat. "In your storage room, there was a blood trail and a jacket that belonged to the victim. Can either of you explain that?"

"I-I, uh..."

"I simply have no idea what you're talking about. I think a member of staff would have noticed such a thing at some point."

"...Stan...you knew about it?"
@Atomyk
Stan adamantly shook his head. "No, I had no idea. I agree with Mr. Horne."

"That's interesting," Holder said, but held off on saying more.

Hmm... The detail about that bloody jacket really did raise some difficult questions... But, he still was willing to give both Stan and Horne the benefit of the doubt for now, as there was still a small chance that the jacket had only been recently stashed into that box, before any staff or faculty members had time to run into it themselves?

"How... Often do staff members visit the back room?" He asked, then he stopped, seeming to consider something else.

"More importantly, how fresh was the blood trail by the time it was discovered?" He added.

If the blood trail had yet to dry, it would further confirm his suspicion that someone had deliberately planted it there recently, in an effort to shift the blame, or perhaps it was someone who wanted to anonymously drop off a piece of evidence to the case?

"I suppose that once a pawn, always a pawn, no matter which despair-loving Junko Enoshima I might find around the multiverse, only with a master that goes by different names," Kyoko said, her voice more clearer than before, as though for some mysterious reason, her condition was getting just a bit lighter. Whatever the cause was, she'd have time to question it later. For now, there were enemies in front of her. Adversaries to confront. People to save. A darkness to defeat. A world to escape.

A boy to see again.

"I'd ask if you wouldn't have any more room in this world for the two of us, for hope, but don't you ever get tired of these debates, Enoshima?" She inquired, looking at Junko intensely, "And more importantly, of all the things you get bored of so quickly, why don't you tire of despair already? It's not too late to let us out of here."

The Scarlet witch remained silent as she studied the group. Noticing Kyoko's body language, the witch went up to here. Something wasn't right with the girl,

"... If you insist," Kyoko said, taking a break from her speech directed at Junko to talk with the newly resurrected Wanda. So much was happening in this final trial, but then again, she was used to that sort of thing, wasn't she?

"Say... Wanda, how exactly did you come back anyway? I thought you were..." She trailed off, before clearing her throat, "I know you explained it, but I'm still a little..."

@Josh M

Nodding, Wanda put her hand on Kyoko's back. A scarlet allure pulsed out of her hand as Kyoko started feeling better.

"It's complicated, Kyoko. However, you need to know. Despair, as you know, is a powerful threat. It's force that corrodes and destroys things and people with no regard. While I have many different styles of magic in my playbook, Chaos magic is my breed and butter. Making the impossible possible is nothing to me. However, Chaos and despair go hand in hand. It's the reason why I am so powerful here. Yet, it's the reason why I'm so useless. However, I was able to work around "my death" with a little help from the outside."

Turning to Junko, Wanda would go on.

" Now, Junko, If anyone here is the true queen of despair, it's me. It's not something I'm proud of either. Everyday, everyday single day I feel despair's greedy paws on me. I know what it's trying to do to me. Some days I just break out and cry for no reason. Just out of the blue, tears flow from me. Some days I sleep until the late afternoon because I can't pull myself out of my bed. However, that doesn't stop me from realizing the truth."

Wanda's eye glared at Junko.

"It's a choice to give into despair. I choose to keep busy and help people. I choose to find couponing skills to help me. I choose to get the help I need to be a better person. I choose to use my powers of chaos to make order. I choose hope."

"No, you don't understand," said Horne. "Staff move through that area every day, it would have been noticed had it been there longer than a day."

"Then perhaps someone had the bloody jacket stashed, but felt the heat when investigators showed up and put it in the storage room?"

"It as fresh, I suppose," Jude offered. "But... I can't recall exactly."

Fresh blood on Jefferson's jacket... Wasn't his body found a few days ago? It certainly would have been far from fresh if it had been from the initial kill, certainly not fresh enough to have left a trail behind when it was brought to the box. So... Either someone else who had been injured was wearing Mark Jefferson's clothing... Or, there was something else at work. Things were just getting more and more confusing... If that bloodied jacket was not a direct result of that kill, why would someone want to hide it? ... Perhaps someone wanted to deliberately throw them off.

"... That blood couldn't be from Jefferson... It's too fresh for that... So... ... Maybe someone was trying to throw us off?" Jack Frost said, scratching his head.

This was a dead end if he had ever seen one... But, it would appear that one of the four suspects might have been responsible may have tried to throw them off course, or maybe this was some sort of clue in disguise. With a sigh, he decided to press on, see if there was anything they had to work with.

"Other than the blood... Was there anything else of note on the jacket?" He asked.

"Other than the blood... Was there anything else of note on the jacket?" He asked.

Honda scratched his neck, trying to recall. "Well, there was no damage to the fabric itself, but there were two thingsin there-Jefferson's business card and an address that led to his secret bunker. Kinda like whoever left the jacket wanted to expose the guy for who he really was, as if they knew we were gonna be there...."

Oh. That...that gave Honda a rather worrying idea. "Er...Horne, are you and Stan the only ones cleared to access the tapes? If so, is it the type of thing anyone can tamper with? Or could, say, someone with no security footage experience make a cut like in the tapes? And Holder...can the, uh, person you were with in the back room verify your time there?"
