PRELUDE
In the year 2189 ARC the battle tested galactic community once again found itself pressured by racially driven conflict. Just three years after the ultimate sentient beings known as the Reapers tried wiping out all organic life in the galaxy, the Batarians infuriated by their lack of standing in the Citadel following the invasion announced a full retraction from Citadel space.


In exchange for absolute solitude the Batarians intended to cut off all contact. With the entire galaxy still healing the scars left by the Reapers, the council had no choice but to accept their conditions and allow a peaceful recession. The Batarians true to their word, disappeared.

Now 2212 ARC, it has been nearly twenty-three years since direct contact was made with the Batarians. The Council in direct violation to the treaty sent STG cells into Batarian space and they've recently returned with disturbing results. Not only had the Batarians strengthened their fleet but they also managed to also uplift Yahg and develop a way to control them. With resentful ties towards the Council and now a large army bolstered with thousands of the incredibly violent and improved Yahg, the Batarians are now a threat to galactic peace and the creation of the TIGER SQUAD, the Council's first and -- if things go accordingly -- last response.


TIGER SQUAD & THEIR SHIP

Tiger Squad is the call sign assigned to the elite infiltration team formed by the Council following the revelation of the Batarian race's activities over the past two decades. One of the driving forces behind the Council's decision to break the treaty's obligations and consequent discovery of the Yahg's upliftment was the insistence and pressure shown by the sixth human Spectre Aleksandr Markovich. Because of this dedication and bravado Commander Markovich has been appointed to spearhead all Tiger Squad operations.

Commander Markovich has been given full clearance in regards to recruiting procedures and has his eyes on individuals of varying races and rank. The team he will lead as well as the amount of crew aboard the Tempest will be smaller than average but they will have to be the best in the business in order to complete the tasks at hand.

Determine the likeliness of an invasion and deal with the matter accordingly.
Hello everyone, Bear here! So the way it's going to work is quite simple, YOUR playable character will be one of the talented individuals that Commander Marko has chosen for the mission. All races are viable choices aside from Batarians, Yahgs, Hanar and the Elcor (though aboard the Tempest is an Elcor Requistion Officer by the name of Randy -- long story).

Shizuochan and I have done away with the traditional class system of the series in favor of the writer having each character flesh out specific strengths and weaknesses of their character. You are free to optimize your character as you please, modelling them after an engineer or adept if that's you want, or going for something in between!

SSV TEMPEST

The Tempest is designed to be small, stealthy and fast, trading off heavy armor and a main gun to excel in these. It is capable of covering 13 lightyears per day in FTL. The Tempest's size allows it to land on planets with little trouble, much like the SSV Normandy and unlike the larger Normandy SR-2.

Four main thrusters provide its propulsion and it has four additional downward thrusters to stabilize its descent: two below the frontal wings and two below the main wings. It is equipped with an array of scanners for determining groundside conditions.

I. Each member of the RP should be comfortable with communicating. With some of the people we already have, there's going to be a lot of chatting in between posts in the Discord. Don't be afraid to join in! We don't bite well, except maybe Shiz.

II.While I may not have a specific length requirement for posts I expect those who join to be capable of giving the other writers enough to work with while replying. We will be working with a courtesy system rather then a posting order. I follow you. Not really done the whole collab approach before, truth be told, but it's something we could roll out during the game.

A friendly reminder that ETA for next GM post is the 5/6th, if any interactions require closure/a cleaner ending before being rudely interrupted by yours TRULY.

Anyone who hasn't posted (I believe that's primarily @Fragrance) can be handwaved as having attended the meeting, or as being on the ship already.

I've already received Dovah's notice of posting soon, so I will probably wait for her first.

I feel the need to ask what I feel is a rather important question, or at least one that would be important towards the middle of the story:

As this is a Mass Effect roleplay, will we be having Loyalty Missions, or sub-plots that reflect such missions, for each of our characters that will have to be dealt with once we're en-route to completing our mission?

Bear and I are both very pliable to the idea of loyalty missions. Although since the meat and potatoes of loyalty missions are centered around your character and your ideas for your character, backstory and whatever, you'll need to run the barebones concept of it by us when we reach that juncture.

With that in mind, is anybody adverse to usage of OOC spoiler in IC threads? The information can certainly be relegated into this thread.

No ETA for next round as of yet.
 
I find that OOC spoilers are not distracting in the slightest so long as they're kept at the bottom of the IC post.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Strengths ll A Cerberus experiment that succeeded where project Overlord failed left Aerin with cybernetic implants that basically allow her mind to act as a VI, or more appropriately, a "rogue" VI. Indicated in the data collected, she can interface mentally with any technologies compatible with virtual intelligence technology- which is damn near everything. It works via a specially developed prototype Omni Tool, and cybernetic implants in her brain and spine. Hacking and decrypting is done reflexively in her head. When Aerin hacks bigger targets like security mechs, she can operate the machinery with a higher degree of response, and can also take control of multiple targets at a time. Her omni-tool allows her to mentally modify its melee applications so that she can produce a wide variety of effects on the fly. Cerberus training since childhood has made her particularly skilled in hand to hand combat and infiltration. She's also mechanically savvy.
Weaknesses ll The apparent disadvantage to her cybernetic implants is that more complex tasks involving large sets of data put the young woman in a catatonic state. Returning from the other side of this catatonia may be accompanied by side-effects; ranging from insignificant, like minor headaches or nosebleeds, to something as extreme as brain hemorrhaging or permanent damage to the nervous system. What is understood about the experimental technology is that Cerberus found the system to be remarkably compatible with the growing brains of young children, but as those children got older and more experienced, the more side effects that came with. It is understood that one day the neuro-implants will kill them, and their chances only increase the older they get. Aerin has escaped any seriously debilitating side-effects so far, but no child experimented upon has lived past the age of 20.

Her enhanced tech capabilities also are limited to the range of her omni-tool. Cerberus believed that theoretically, their VI should be able to travel via comm buoys, although tests revealed that this wasn't the case. These subjects were confirmed brain dead after initial trials.

Aerin also suffers from dyslexia, though it's a condition that rarely affects her day to day life.

MENTAL INFORMATION
Psychological Profile ll Aerin harbors a firm bias against most human adults, regards them with extreme reservations, and she just outright hates Batarians, but shows no particular inherent bias for other aliens. When it comes to taking a job however, she delivers results unfailingly. There is a level of professionalism about her that rivals those of established mercenaries. Despite her young age she doesn't hesitate to go for the kill. She also shows absolutely zero aptitude for diplomacy, and should not be entrusted with any decision making.

Brief Background ll Cerberus as a faction became even more splintered after the Reaper attacks; independent cells became aware of one another and began fracturing into smaller cells. Financing for experimental projects became increasingly scarce and as a result the experiments themselves became more crude. One such experiment was the Atropos project, a more practical and cost effective approach to what Overlord attempted. Displaced human children taken into slavery by Batarians and other organizations were ideal test subjects. Originally from Elysium, Aerin was sold at the age of 4 to Cerberus.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Strengths ll Being independent and a well trained Quarian marine paved the path for Artyom to do what he wanted to do with himself even after his wrongful exile. The fact he didn't seem to even falter at the idea of close combat showed that he differed in the typical sense of combat. After his exile and accepting a mercenaries 'internship'. Artyom drastically improved on his combat skills being taught improved usage of Pistols, Rifles, Sniper rifles, and hand to hand combat. He also display's very wide knowledge in repair of a variety things at least when it come down to manual repair. He also display's an adept usage of weapons and modifications. Artyom uses a Medium armor specifically made for the purpose of combat and still containing an envirosuit affording him protection and mobility.
Weaknesses ll Discounting the usual disadvantages that tend to come with being a Quarian. Surprisingly Artyom seems to have a lack of technological know how of working with programs and drones rather his skill seems to be in fixing thing and not making them. He is also rather rubbish with shotguns not finding the weapon to his liking and preferring a rifle in his hands. He also can be stubborn at times preferring his

Physical Description ll
Artyom has a lean and athletic physique. The quarian stands at a rather normal 6'2 and wear's a black colored custom Enviro suit of custom design. Should his mask be removed he will be seen to have a goatee and a buzz cut seeming to have some preference for styling. Apart from this the only notable things about Artyom would be his mask and suit.

MENTAL INFORMATION
Psychological Profile ll Artyom is a quarian who is just out to do what he perceives as 'beneficial' for himself and others. He is a very patient and level headed individual able to handle quite a high stress and tension situations with relative calm. Artyom respects higher ups without to much question so long as the one giving the orders isn't abusing it or making him question their orders. He tends to think his actions through before acting knowing that the repercussions can be harsh especially since they factored into his exile from the fleet. Overall he is a slightly open individual though cautious and his trust must be earned but once it is he is a formidable ally and a willing friend.

Brief Background ll l Artyom grew an orphan on the fleet as a result of losing both parents on Rannoch. After the peace between Geth and Quarian's he was paired with a Geth whom was named Lazarus. Artyom didn't exactly respond to his geth partner and seemed Despondent for most of his teenage and young adult years until he joined the Quarian Marines and after 2 years attained the rank of Specialist. However there was a severe rivalry between him and another marine up for promotion to the point where his rival sabotaged his rifle. The incident that followed destroyed Artyom's geth partner and was mistaken as a signal that Artyom was 'unruly and unpredictable'. This lead in an agreement to his removal from the Marine's and eventually his exile proposed by his rival. Artyom soon found himself wandering planet to planet eventually winding up working on repairing weapons and gear for mercenaries. One particular Mercenary veteran named Sokol seemed to take an interest in Artyom and offered to take him on as a 'apprentice.' After his acceptance the Merc took Artyom to Earth and trained him as best he could in the trade and his skills and even helped the Quarian design a new Envirosuit that would certainly do well in the field. Soon Artyom proved he was more than ready to begin his new path and eventually after a small exchange of words and some personal effects they went their separate ways once again. Artyom went out into the galaxy with a new purpose and a new sense of pride.
