Isle Sora-no-woto, off the coast of Western Japan.
Population:
45,000 Permanent, 5,000 visitors annual, Military Compliment 2,000 families and personnel.
Size:
427 Square Kilometers.
Economy:
Fishing, tourism, low-key Industrial work in shipbuilding.
Masuyama City is split into four districts, around Mount Sora, roughly diamond shape, with imperfect edges, curves, rises and small peninsulas, they are as follows with areas of note.
Cape Masume
Home to the islands north and eastern sections. The port services the near by shipyards, and the main potion of the city its self, the shopping district and the Amusement Park.
Areas of note: Main City, Harbor District, Shopping District. The main City contains a large pier for the arrival of various ships, of note is a Japanese Naval Dock which services ships up to Destroyer size, containing enough space for family and crew, its normally blocked off from the rest of the island. Consisting of moderately sized buildings the islands meager shipping flows to the mainland to the north.
Industrial District:
Located on the Eastern side of the island, this is where the production yards, scrap smelter and the working class generally live. Some shops are on the fringes towards the harbor. Not much of note is here, unless you are a worker. The police department, some more "questionable" shops, shipyard, factories, wharves and scrap yards are located here. Ruri's home is also in this area. Criminal activity seems noticeable.
Western Kotowari Ward:
Location of the suburbs, with a few parks and temples, its the more "urban" and home steading area of the city. Generally most other white collar employment is in this area, with hospitals and the like, but primarily its homes and slight wilderness. Towards the Interior is the residential portion, on the exterior is Sora-No-Woto Themepark. In general minus small stores, this area is not too note worthy, though it leads to the south and north easily enough. Of note is the few high rises that blend in partially with the northern city, mostly offices and hotels.
The bulk of the Culture Club members seem to live in this area.
Southern District:
Not even having much of a name, this area is home to a nature preserve, the main (if not only public) High School, some smaller schools, the small agricultural basin and a few homesteads for the wealthy. Makoto's and Yoshiko's homes seem to be in this area. As of note, Yamaboshi High School (capacity 3000 students), Mount Sora Nature preserve, some nicer homes and fields are all present in this area.
