I really like modern roleplays, especially hings involving romance and family. I also love fantasy, especially anything involving magic, mythical creatures, or gods and goddesses. Fandoms are nice, if I can play an OC. Since history is one of my passions, I like doing historical roleplays, mostly renaissance, 1800's, early 1900's, ancient civilizations, and anything wild west-like or based on pioneers. I do like Sci-Fi, mostly dystopian with some sort of rebellion or strict customs, something like that. I also like roleplays that take place in space if they have a good explanation of the universe that it takes place in. I'm not a big fan of horror or mystery, unless the horror is a sub-element to something else.

Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is the American wizarding school, located on Mount Greylock in modern day Massachusetts. It accepts students from all over North America. Students of this school, as at Hogwarts in Scotland, are sorted into four houses.

Ilvermorny was founded during the early seventeenth century after 1620, 630 years after Hogwarts, and the school was originally just a rough shack containing two teachers and two students. Ilvermorny was originally a stone cottage constructed by Irish immigrant Isolt Sayre, and her No-Maj husband James Steward. It became a school when their adoptive children Chadwick and Webster Boot hoped they could return to Ireland so they could attend Hogwarts. Isolt then promised they could build their own school at Ilvermorny with the objective of home-schooling them.

Thus, the school started with just the couple acting as teachers and their two adopted sons, Chadwick and Webster Boot, as students. Each of them named one of the four Houses: Chadwick created Thunderbird, Webster created Wampus, Isolt created Horned Serpent, and James created Pukwudgie.

Eventually, the school enrolled more students, and the couple were able to provide wands not just for their children but for the other students too. These students were Native Americans of the Wampanoag and the Narragansett tribes who shared their knowledge of magic in return for being taught the technique involved with wandwork. Therefore, Native American magic became involved in the foundations of Ilvermorny. Over the next few years, the school grew even more and by 1634, there were enough children for inter-house competitions.

For a time, the school acted only as a day school, with only James, Isolt and their family as the only live-in residents.

News of the new school reached Europe, and Isolt's wicked aunt, Gormlaith Gaunt finally located her niece. She made her way to the school, and cast a curse on James and Isolt from a distance to put them in a deep sleep, in hopes to kill them and abduct their new-born twin daughters. She didn't know, however, about Chadwick and Webster, and when she cast a spell in Parseltongue to disable Isolt's wand, the brothers' wands (which had the core of Horned Serpent horn) alerted them of the danger.

Chadwick went to hold off the Dark witch while Webster attempted, to no avail to awaken their parents. Webster joined the duel and the couple were awakened by the cry of their infant daughters. While James went to protect the babies, Isolt tried to join the fight, but her wand was useless, being disabled prior. In the duel the whole family was driven to the bedroom, and Isolt called out to her late father William for help, and was answered by her old friend William, a Pukwudgie. The Pukwudgie killed Gormlaith and from that day on, William and his family acted as the school's security and maintenance staff.

By the 18th century, Ilvermorny became a granite castle and more teachers were added to cope with the growing number of students. By this point, the school had become a boarding school. Ilvermorny reached the same reputation other schools of magic had and the founders had concealed their school by clever enchantments, some of which made it look like a misty cloud to No-Majs {or muggles}.

Taken from the Harry Potter Wikia
  • There are four houses at Ilvermorny - Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird, and Pukwudgie. Each house represents a part of the wizard's {or witch's} body.

When a student starts their education at Ilvermorny, they step onto a Gordian Knot on the floor in the center of the entrance hall with large wooden statues of the mascots for the four houses facing them. The carved statues react if they want the student in their house. The older students watch in silence from a circular balcony on a floor above them as the new students are sorted.

However, sometimes more than one carving will try to select the same student and so the student is then able to choose the house they prefer. This happens very rarely. Sometimes - as rare as once a decade or even a generation as in the case of one student - a student will be selected by every house.

After the sorting, the student is brought to a room where they are chosen once more, this time by a wand. Children can not have a wand prior to schooling and have to leave their wand at school during school breaks and can only take the wand out of school when they reach seventeen years of age. This is to ensure the safety of the wizarding community.

    Horned Serpent
The Horned Serpent house was created by Isolt Sayre when Ilvermorny was first created. When choosing a student, the crystal in the center of the carving's forehead glows. The Horned Serpent represents the mind of a witch or wizard. It is said to favor Scholars.

The Horned Serpent itself is a magical snake native to North America.

    Wampus
The Wampus house was created by Webster Boot, the adoptive son of Isolt Sayre and James Stewart, when Ilvermorny was first created. When choosing a student, the statue of the Wampus will roar. The Wampus represents the body of the witch or wizard. It is said to favor Warriors.

The Wampus cat {also known as the Wampus Beast} is a magical cat native to North America, similar to a panther.

    Thunderbird
The Thunderbird house was created by Chadwick Boot, the adoptive son of Isolt Sayre and James Stewart, when Ilvermorny was first created. When choosing a student, the carving of the the Thunderbird will beat its wings. The Thunderbird represents the soul of the witch or wizard. It is said to favor Adventurers.

The Thunderbird itself is a magical bird native to North America with the ability to create storms as it flies as well as sense danger. It is closely related to the phoenix.

    Pukwudgie
The Pukwudgie house was created by James Stewart, the husband of Isolt Sayre, when Ilvermorny was first created. When choosing a student, the statue of the Pukwudgie raises its arrow. The Pukwudgie represents the heart of a witch or wizard. It is said to favor Healers.

The Pukwudgie is a magical creature native to North America. Pukwudgies provide security for the school as well as permanently live there. They are distantly related to European goblins and slightly resemble house elves.

  • Ilvermorny Castle
Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is located on top of the highest peak of Mount Greylock in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. The climate ranges from freezing temperatures to warm throughout the year, reaching lows of below freezing in the winters and low seventies on the summers. The closest town to Ilvermorny is the concealed wizarding town of Avindan. Student fourteen and above may visit Avindan on the weekends if parental consent forms are presented.

Ilvermorny itself is a relatively large castle, concealed from No-Maj eyes with several enchantments that make it appear like a misty cloud. The castle provides a dining hall, where all students can mingle freely and openly with different houses and years during breakfast, lunch, or dinner or during free periods. There is no seating chart here. The castle also has a large library, boasting over one hundred thousand volumes that range from textbooks to novels.

Each house has its own common room, leading into smaller dorms. Each house has fourteen dorms, two for each year, one for boys and one for girls. Each dorm also provides a bathroom with private showers, baths, and toilets.

Free roaming throughout the castle is welcome and allowed as long as students remain within the castle walls, which are six miles wide and six miles long. There are many trees, gardens, and small pavilions throughout the grounds.

    Rules
❉ No godmodding, etc... Every character should have their weaknesses as well as their strengths. ❉
❉ If you have an issue with drug and alcohol usage, social issues, different orientations, or anything of that sort, feel free to live now. On that note, steamy stuff has to fade to black and go to PM. I don't want none of that. I don't care if it's mentioned, just don't go beyond that. Please respect other people's boundaries as well. ❉
❉ Every character has an important role, so don't worry about your character not being important. ❉
    ❉ Please be literate. ❉
❉ Romance is encouraged, but it should not be the focal point for all relationships. ❉
❉ Originality is very much appreciated. Tell me your character's favorite color in your CS. ❉
❉ Do not physically maim another person's character without their permission. ❉
❉ You cannot be your own love interest or anything of that sort. That kind of ruins the point of roleplaying. ❉
❉ You can have as many characters as you want. Just make sure you can keep up with them. ❉
❉ Please note that I reserve the right to reject any character I feel is not up to standard. ❉

May I have the last 7th year Thunderbird if it is taken I understand...

@Princess Poisoned Rose @Alluka There is no set number of characters. Unless it says: Closed for Females/Males, you can make a character for that house. The only "closed" slot is Sixth Year Pukwudgie females, bit only because there was a bunch of girls and one boy.

Cool I was going to make a male thunderbird 7th year anyway lol

I'm going to have to move my reserves to @Bran, she has more time on her hands & I'm quite sure she's in a role-play of yours.
I'm very sorry for not being able to participate, I hope you'll understand^^

I'm going to try and get this RP moving by the beginning of next year. For now, I'll be closing this to any new members.

I know my post is turning out waaay later than I promised, but I swear I am working on it. Hopefully I'll have it out eventually :/

Hmmm, I don't want to drop this roleplay after everything. But I have so much going on and so Mich I'm trying to do and on top of that, I'm a mobile slave now because my laptop charger broke. So, I will have to let this go.

However, I'm still all on board your other roleplay, City Lights. I'll have my characters done on there soon, probably by the end of this week. :)
