Teddy grimaced as Rant's mishandling of the piano created a cacophony of noise that echoed from the ballroom and out into the waiting room. Teddy could feel a chill as if a wind was picking up. It passed down the hallway, through the waiting room, and down the opposite hallway. Noembelu felt the wind just as someone appeared at the end of the East hallway. The individual was a woman and she wore an unmistakable scarlet robe.

MAxuXcK.png

She passed by Noembelu without a word, moving into the waiting room where she had to step down a flight of stairs to reach the guests. It was clear to everyone then that it was the woman of the hour, Wanda Maximoff.

"Welcome, everyone! I'm glad to see you all got my letters! Look at all of you! Come to the dining room."

As she spoke, the woman seemed well-adjusted. With a smile on her face, Wanda motioned for everyone to follow her back up the stairs and down the East hallway. However, some people weren't willing to wait for answers.

"Sister! What in hell--"

"Just get inside, Pietro!"

Wanda composed herself but glanced upon the guests with a look of grim seriousness.

Billy quickly made his way toward Wanda, a look of concern on his face. "Wanda..." He barely got a word out, however, when he spotted the look she was shooting Pietro. Billy didn't want Wanda to snap, after all. Perhaps it would have been best to at least see what Wanda had prepared before peppering her with questions.

The witch did not look at Billy or Tommy, nor did she acknowledge their existence.

In any case, Wanda seemed intent on moving the group out of the waiting room despite whatever questions or reservations they had. With the choice to either wait some more or follow. It wasn't much of a choice. Teddy made sure to escort Nancy so that she could walk on her sprained ankle.

Still trying to be calm, the witch's hand shook as she pointed to the door at the end of the hallway. "Get inside the dining room, Brother. All will be explained. That goes for everyone. Please." Those who followed would find themselves led down a spacious corridor, all the way to a fancy dining room.

"More of you came than I had... expected."

With a flourish of her hand, Wanda expanded the room's size and added a second dining table, enough to fit all the guests. Teddy helped Nancy into one of the chairs and moved to look out one of the open windows, but Wanda closed the curtains with a wave of her hand. "It's getting late and the natural lighting suits this room better."

Josephine stepped into the room, followed by Captain America and Pietro. Noticing the same flowers from earlier in one of the vases, Josephine lightly brought up the subject.

"So, Wanda, I can't help but notice your interesting choice of flower. I have never seen them before. May I ask what they are?"

Sitting at the head of one of the tables, Wanda smiled at Josephine and was more than happy to respond.

"They are the Wundagore Everbloom. A very rare flower that can only be grown in the shadow-passes of the Wundagore Mountains. The family and I... we went to fetch them, just for you all. It adds a personal touch."

Billy exchanged a confused glance with Tommy, who sat opposite of him, but the silver-haired boy only shrugged. Wanda continued, never breaking her smile.

"I remember that my teacher, Agatha, and I would go to the nearby airport and watch the foolish tourists buy them from local dealers. Most of them weren't real. Just dyed roses. Everyone wanted to see if the legend was true."

"Wait, you made no mention of a legend. I'm curious to know, what is it?"

Wanda suddenly froze, frowning.

"... Forget it."

It didn't seem wise to push that particular subject further. "I'm sure you have many questions for me," Wanda said. "But do keep in mind that your food will be ready very soon! I've prepared a feast for all of us."

Mason watched with wonder as Wanda's powers rescaled the room. The whole presentation of Wanda at this party had him awestruck.

"Wanda, thank you so much for your hospitality and for inviting us all. The flowers are an excellent touch. I hope you don't mind that I brought a guest.

"I certainly have questions. How have you been? What have you been up to? Last I saw you was during that incident... What has happened since then?"

Leon stood up and followed Mason, not sure of what to expect from the Scarlet Witch. However, Mason seems to trust her, so he should as well. Yet at the same time, he's just meeting her and knows nothing about what Mason actually has been through after his incident.

Leon looks at Nono with a gentle smile. "If you want, you can stick around with myself and Mason. No point in letting someone feel alone at a party."

He notices that Mason already began to follow Wanda and decides to follow as well.

Amir listened to the conversation around her as best as she could, until a child had showed up, alone. Deciding that there was enough of a crowd over here, she went over to Six and got down to eye level, but made sure not to get into her personal space.

"Hello there." she greeted kindly. It was a bit strange to the woman, that this kid was by themselves, but there wasn't much one could really do about that.

@Glostechk

ZCyezTk.png

Six only lifted her hand up in a way to greet the woman not really knowing what to say. She didn't really mind the woman's position to see her at eye level, but the little girl appreciated the gesture. Six was so used to looking up that it made it odd to look at the woman straight ahead. Unfortunately, the woman couldn't see Six's eyes since the little girls hair got in the way. Curious to know about the others, Six pointed her finger out to the group of people hoping that the woman knew who they were.

"What do you mean she just disappeared?" Mason turned his head to face Toffee, and realized that he had rudely ignored the lizard man earlier. "I don't think I caught your name..."

He nervously cleared his throat. "I have a penchant for going from place to place," he said, glancing at Kyoko. Mason worried a little bit that his former boss might have a little bit of a grudge from his sudden resignation with little warning, and felt that he may have just chosen the wrong words. He continued, "...but surely SOMEONE knew where she was, right? If not Kyoko... Then maybe this family she wants us to meet. Right, Wanda?"

"That actually sounds pretty good... Did you make enough for me too?"

Mason had a sneaking suspicion that Kyoko was using her detective skills to gather something. Unfortunately, his mouth started running before his brain could hold it back. Hopefully it would help Kyoko's plan instead of hurt it, but he had been too busy to ear before arriving at the party, and after mentioning the soup, his stomach began to growl.

Perhaps as expected of her, Kyoko stayed silent all throughout as Wanda made herself known. So here she finally was, in the flesh, and of course, as expected, there was something off about her. It was something you'd see in any horror mystery novel or film. A courteous host of a strange party who can switch from inviting to unnerving on a complete whim. She was not used to Wanda carrying this sort of aura. Though she would have been hard-pressed to say that Wanda was the most stable person she met, especially after the death of Genji, she never imagined that the Scarlet Witch would have taken this sort of shift in her personality. Something was definitely wrong here; it was as though she were a completely different person. And Kyoko was going to make sure she'd get to the bottom of this.

With her guard up, Kyoko walked with everyone to the dining room that Wanda had led them all to. She remained completely stone-faced when she so casually used her powers to restructure the dining room to fit everyone in, but the one thing that caused her to raise an eyebrow was the woman's response to Josephine's inquiry concerning the flowers that she had picked out. Kyoko made a mental note of Wanda's response; it could have been nothing for all she knew, but just the tone in which that response was conveyed, as well as the phrase "just for you all" caused a wave of apprehension to surge briefly within the detective. The way she spoke felt... almost as though she were in some sort of dream-like state, if Kyoko were being honest with herself, her suspicions all the more fueled at Wanda abruptly dropping the subject in response to Josephine's continued questions. Kyoko wanted to know more about this so-called legend, but she wasn't foolish. If a reality bending witch didn't want to talk about something, then pressing would have obviously been a bad idea.

Speaking of ideas, Kyoko hatched one in her mind, and quickly began to play it out.

"Oh, a feast? I didn't know you enjoyed cooking so much, Wanda," Kyoko spoke suddenly, putting a hand on her hip, "I hope cilantro mushroom soup is on the menu. You know how much I like that, don't you?"

"My name is Toffee. And you are?" The lizard asked, making sure that his hand remained in his lap like a gentleman should keep them. At the mention of mushroom soup, Toffee simply nodded in agreement with Mason and Kyoto. "Yes... I could go for some mushroom soup as well. Though anything is fine, really." The Septarian said, wishing not to make anyone go out of their way to please him when he himself wasn't really a picky eater.

Wanda beamed at Mason, seemingly happy at his convivial demeanor. "Why, a guest? I certainly didn't plan for guests, but the more the merrier, right? It's good to see you, Mason, especially in a setting much more relaxed. That is half the reason you're here, after all..." She looked around the table, taking in the sight of her guests. "I have been very busy. Some of you haven't heard from me in some time, but that is only for good reason. Even for myself, communicating across dimensions is no small feat! I figured, if I have to go through the effort, why not get a gathering all at once?"

Wanda said it as if it made complete sense, and as far as most of the guests knew, it probably did sound like it. Before Toffee spoke, Wanda added, "Besides, you are here to relax and meet my precious family. They should be joining us once our food arrives."

"If I may, I may have an answer to your question," Josephine said, looking to Toffee. She would have addressed him properly by his surname, but as far as she heard, he did not provide one. It just felt silly to say Sir Toffee, did it not? "Some of us may not have heard from Wanda in some time due to the very nature of the multiverse. As you may not be aware, years can go by in one world while mere minutes go by in the next!" She paused. "... Well, in any case, it sounds like she was very busy."

"Oh, Josephine... Thank you! That is a wonderful explanation!"

She smiled brightly and regarded Kyoko's question with a curious tilt of her head. It seemed that Wanda needed to wrack her brain to obtain the answer to what should have been an easy question. "Ah... Yes, Kyoko. I... believe I had that prepared. And even if I happened to forget, I will spare no effort in making some for you anyway. I would never let a dear friend go without one of her favorite foods. Of course, you can have some as well, Mason. Everyone can."

Pietro grumbled and glared at Wanda from across the table, but seemed to be keeping his mouth shut for now. Billy turned to Teddy and whispered into his ear. "Uh, you think I should ask what family she's talking about?"

Teddy looked at Wanda through the corner of his eye, watching for anything odd. "... Just give it a second, okay?"

This was weird. All of it was weird. Noembelu didn't remember Wanda being like this. Especially after the way Honda described her. Maybe it was how she coped? She didn't know. The mention of roses put her on edge as it was. Luckily there weren't any here.

"Have you seen Honda recently?" She still had no idea where he'd gone, or why. If abyobe would know...it might be Wanda.

"Of course. I think I speak for the majority of the room when I say that it is quite the pleasure to be speaking with you again, Ms. Maximoff." Toffee said.

He would then lift his glass (now filled with liquor instead of swamp water) high in the air. "To honor this momentous occasion, allow me to propose a toast. To Wanda!" Toffee announced in a louder voice than usual, as he was speaking to the entire room instead of just one person.

"... Thank you," Kyoko simply said in response to her request. If a smile were too much to expect from Kyoko, then one would think that her gaze toward Wanda would have softened up a bit, but to the observant eye, one just might be able to tell that her look actually intensified a tad, but all too subtly, for whatever reason.

... She also gave a brief look to those who piped in on her talk of cilantro mushroom soup, such as Mason and Toffee, but did nothing more with them.

Crossing her arms, she continued to speak. "Speaking of busy bees... Yes, I haven't heard from you in some time, Wanda. You took some rather sudden time off from work. If you don't mind me asking, where have you been anyway? Just traversing through the multiverse on a whim, perhaps?" Kyoko speculated, feeling as though she were treading on thin ice for whatever reason, but decided to ever so gently push her luck and see where it'd get her.

Before Amir could really respond to Six, she glanced up once Wanda made her presence known and had the group follow her to a dinning room, using her abilities to make it much bigger ti fit them all. As awe inspiring as that was, the young woman felt deep down that something might have been off. "Oh, a feast? I didn't know you enjoyed cooking so much, Wanda," Kyoko spoke suddenly, putting a hand on her hip, "I hope cilantro mushroom soup is on the menu. You know how much I like that, don't you?"

Toffee would pause for a moment, his expression entirely unreadable before the lizard would abruptly smile.

"It's good to see you once again, Wanda."

Giving off a pleasant smile, Kiyohime didn't exactly mention the fact that she was rather... antsy with waiting. She didn't want to give off the fact that she was on the verge of losing her cool. A party should have positive tones after all. Though, that doubt that was planted in her head earlier was still... lingering. Not as much as before, but it was still there.

"However long it may have been since we crossed paths in France for you, it was only a single day or two's time for me. I'd imagine you had quite the time arranging this gathering for all of us, so unless there are surprises to keep for full effect, I do mind to ask on what activities will be up for us guests to do with you and your family. You shouldn't be so inclined to answer, but I like to appreciate the thought that goes to people especially like me. Normally no one would reach out to me like so."

Well, hopefully it didn't come off as too invading, but Kiyohime was always the type that likes to know what to expect. Especially to the many that went against their word... she despised that. At the sound of Toffee declaring a toast, Kiyohime was somewhat lost at the gesture. Though, she remembered a small handful of the Chaldea party she was in back in France, especially with some Servants there, would do so before going off into battle. Of course, she would try to mimic the gesture, but notice she had no drink to do so with this. Now the thought of a simple drink got her slightly needy for a refreshment.

"Oh, I again hope this isn't too needy of me, but is there sencha tea that I can refresh myself with?"

Mason said nothing in response to Kyoko. He knew that her words were directed at Wanda and not him, but they stung. Kyoko sounded judgemental and accusatory to Mason's ears. He knew her well enough to know that she meant no harm. Still, his thoughts turned back to the years he spent aimlessly travelling through the multiverse.

Especially when Leon had been searching for Mason for years. At any time, Mason could have returned the search to find Leon, but he didn't. It brought a shade of darkness to his mood, though his face remained its usual cheer.

Continued from here.

A7MFrsD.jpg

Rant stopped banging on the keys when he felt the chill down his spine. It was ominous, but something to be expected in such a large house, drafts coming in through the vents and windows and whatnot. However, since he had stopped he decided to close the the piano and run over to Teddy who had disappeared, along with Noembelu. Rant stood with his hands in the air and looked around before dropping them. "Yeah, well screw you to."

As Rant trudged down the hall toward the waiting room he had to pause when he saw Wanda. She made her way gracefully into the waiting room and Rant waited for her to lead the guests out and sure enough she had an army of people with questions on her back, but she ignored each of them. Insistent on them going to go eat. Rant watched as the giant group moved about the halls and lagged way behind it.

I don't like secrets. Rant's face scrunched up at the thought of some giant scheme behind this party, which he knew was the only explanation for so many odd things right off the bat. As he strolled behind them Rant held his hands on his head and stared at the entrance to the dining room, he peered inside as everyone took their seats before standing off by himself, watching everyone have fun.

Shen certainly had many questions, but most of them were unimportant. He decided to get straight to the point instead of wasting time with idle chatter. His duty always comes first. He spoke bluntly,

"I know this is not the right place to discuss this, but this is the only opportunity I have to speak with you properly. As Shen, the Leader of the Kinkou Order, I ask of you to never return to our universe. It goes against our principles of maintaining balance and equilibrium in our world. Keep in mind that this is not a personal request; it must be done for the sake of balance. Do I have your word?"

If Wanda seemed confused by Kyoko's question, she almost looked downright alarmed at Noembelu's. She considered the question a bit longer than felt right and said, "I have not seen Edmond in quite a while. I did send him an invite, however. Why wouldn't I? He really is a dear friend. Perhaps he could be late?"

The witch seemed intent then to move on from that subject, so she happily obliged Toffee by conjuring a drink for herself. "I've yet to serve drinks, but I can provide some for any who want one now. Don't worry, it's safe." It wasn't long before she gave Kiyohime the tea she wanted, as well as any other drinks the guests desired.

Kyoko and Kiyohime then began to ask more probing questions, but Wanda seemed more on top of her answers this time. "Kyoko, I am sure you must be disappointed that I have neglected your organization, but I do have a life to live."

Captain America decided then to interject. "But Wanda, I don't believe anyone has heard from you in a while."

She looked at Steve as if he'd said something very annoying, but she managed a pleasant tone when she responded with, "That may be true, but you should know better than any other here about the difficulties we may encounter. Stress and tragedy... how does one normally deal with these? I had to get away for a time. All the better that I got to meet so many wonderful people and find a family."

She stopped and looked at Steve as if challenging him to argue with her, but he could not find fault in her words, so he said nothing at all. With that out of the way, Wanda nodded. "Anyway, to all those who are just meeting me for the first time, such as you, Leon, I warmly welcome you to my home. As for the activities you were wondering about, I was not planning on party games, don't worry! Perhaps after our meal, you can join my family and I in the lounge? Perhaps the ballroom? This was meant to just be a relaxing gathering, after all."

She extended this welcome to even Shen, who she looked at a bit warily. She didn't think long about what he said before answering. "You have my word, though I did not invite you here for talk such as that. You meet many hostile individuals when one travels alone into unfamiliar territory, so I hold no hard feelings. Phil Connors-Still Hurting

Phil looked over at Raven and debated telling her more about himself. He was silent, before he made his way to the west hallway. There was a piano there. He sat by it, trying to compose his thoughts alone for a second before he went to gather his thoughts. Here he was away from the loop and he still felt guilty. Why did he care what these people thought of him? They were just a means to an end to him, a way to get out of his loop. But he did leave Rita- he pushed that thought aside. Now that he was gone, maybe the day would stop looping.

He looked at the piano and he couldn't help, but think of his perfect day with Rita. No, that was in the past. Push it aside, compart it away. He was here.

"I'm here and I'm fine," though he wasn't sure if he believed that. He felt around in his pocket. Anxiety medication would probably help. He popped two of them and swallowed. Don't drink anything alcoholic and odds of him dying were low. He walked into the dinning hall just in time for Toffee to raise a toast. " Seems a little rude to do a toast without other people around."

He gave a look to Wanda before deciding to ask a question or two along with offering an apology. " Miss Maximoff, it is nice to see you again. I am terribly sorry about our last encounter, I was a little inebriated towards the end of it. " Lie. He was fully sober and knew what he was doing. " Do you have a seating arrangement for this dinner or shall we sit wherever?" He asked.

Toffee found it odd that she had to point out that the drinks weren't poisoned, though luckily he brought his own drink from Mewni, and he didn't really care if anyone else happened to get killed from poisoned drinks. Of course, he wouldn't admit that out loud.

"Please, Shen, sit down. You wouldn't want to be rude, would you?" Toffee asked Shen in just as blunt of a gone as he had spoken to Wanda. The man was causing somewhat of a scene, and while it may not have been a hindrance to others, it certainly did irk Toffee.

Shen: a model of balance and order, preferring to stick to rules and enforcing them strictly. Rant: known criminal and troublemaker. However, neither knew of the other's past, and seeing as Rant had begun to get bored, he took up the chance to have a conversation with his polar opposite.

He looked straight ahead and rocked his head back and forth. "So, she invaded your home world? And you decided it was best to speak to someone with that power directly?"

Great. It was this imbecile again. Why couldn't have he stayed asleep on the couch earlier? Well, in an attempt to hopefully keep things civil with the rat, Toffee would speak up as politely as possible.

"I suggest you quiet down as well. Ms. Maximoff is preparing a lovely meal for us, and here you are making a fool of yourself." Toffee replied dryly. Honestly, why couldn't he for once be in a room where everyone could uphold an intelligent conversation?

It would certainly make things easier, after all.

Even though I am not on the invite list, fate and luck have allowed me to be with my brother." He says with a smile as he sits down. "however, tonight isn't the night to talk about my family, but instead to meet yours."

He looks around taking in everything that he could see. "I'm sure you and most likely a few others would have some interesting stories to share."

Rant pushed himself off the wall and started walking towards the lizard. He didn't show signs of hostility, but for Rant to be compliant was strange in the least. He got over next to Toffee and goes for his shirt. "Now, let's be civilized shall we. I forgot to introduce myself." Should he grab him Rant would have tossed Toffee over his shoulder as if he was a wad of paper, but he had enough control over his strength to at least keep at a human level toss. Or close to it. As the lizard reacted to this however he did, Rant would run his mouth. "Name's Rant T. Mouse." Rant then went to throw a punch at the lizard man's chest. "I like long walks across the beach and met Wanda while fighting for my life." He then stomped his foot as his tail lit on fire and he blasted a circle of fire around Toffee. "OH YEAH! AND I REALLY, REALLY, DON'T LIKE BEING TOLD WHAT I SHOULD OR SHOULDN'T DO!" Rant then barged out of the room. Slamming the door behind him. "Jackass. I'm going to the bathroom."
