"....................."

How did you answer that one? "Oh, y'know, I was a former assassin who wound up killing an all-powerful vampire, and now my shell-shocked ass is rehabilitating in Asia with a sumo wrestler who got impaled by a slasher-film zombie while playing a game of Ace Attorney with a two-tone stuffed bear!" Yeah. THAT would go over well. But she had to say something...

"...nothing, really." That sounded bad too. "I'm...helping restore my tribe." That was true-though she omitted the part of being unable to do so for a while. "And you?"

"Interesting." Toffee mused aloud. It was quite obvious that she wasn't telling the full story, though Toffee wasn't about to pester her about it if she didn't wish to discuss it.

"I'm a business man. I work with private organizations, mainly. Think of me as a personal assistant or a consultant." Toffee replied almost instantly without any hesitation or even stuttering. Almost as if he had been asked this question a ton of times before.

Donuts seemed an oddly specific desire right about now, but hey, Teddy could have gone for some donuts. He turned to Phil who was checking up on Nancy's condition and gave the man a shrug. "Good for now, I think. Billy's keeping her company, but you could try talking to her as well if want. I was just thinking of checking out the other rooms..."

But Phil and the woman apparently named Raven started to converse, which signaled to Teddy it was just going to be himself and Rant for now. He nodded toward one of the doors connecting from the waiting room and headed there intently. When he tried to turn the knob, he found it locked.

"I guess that's not too surprising... but you have to wonder..."

@Krieg @ShiroKiyoshi @Gands @LuckycoolHawk9
"Yo, no way, you've moved up on my list Phil. Any doughnut lover is a friend of mine." Rant gave a thumbs up to the weather man, but it was obvious his mind was preoccupied with other things, such as; room full of people, mysterious transportation, extreme event, this didn't sound anything like something he had experienced before. Psych. Rant turned his head as Teddy walked by him, once he passed Rant trailed behind. He peered around Teddy, leaning on him as if he were a wall, and comparing his height to Rant: he was. The boy gave the knob a little jiggle and it didn't budge. Rant sucked on his teeth as he went to knock on the door before staring at it. "Yep. I knew it. I'm still feeling pretty strong. Let me try something." Rant walked up to the door and gave it a barrage of punches. Each shaking the building in an attempt to knock it down, if his gut was correct Wanda either sealed it or protected the door against such actions, thus completely locking them in, he could then confirm his suspicions; that woman needed her friends' help again and that normally meant something very big and VERY FREE. The thought pissed him off. "She still owes me for the crap she pulled from last time."

"I see." Noembelu looked to the door, where Rant was busy trying to break it down. "Pardon me." Getting up, she would walk to the door. "Locked, huh?" This was weird. Really, really weird. She knew Wanda was a woman with some quirks, but why lock them all in?

kl7e4dr.jpg

"Indeed I am." Toffee stated, not sounding surprised that she knew his name in the slightest. She had probably overheard him introduce himself earlier. Deciding to continue the conversation, Toffee continued. "So, Noembelu, what do you do for a living?" Toffee asked with a small smile.

"I think we're all wondering the same thing." Toffee replied dryly in response to Starfire, who happened to be next to him and Noembelu when she freaked out.

@Ryu Keiko @Yun Lee

Starfire looked at the...creature, who spoke to her so dryly and tilted her head. "I see, I guess that would make sense." She said with a smile. "Might I ask, what exactly are you? You are not a familiar being, not on Earth or Tamaran." She asked. Starfire's mannerisms were a bit.... strange, but she was asking a genuine Question.

"Ah yes, I am a Septarian. One of the many, shall we say, species that resides in the dimension of Mewni." Toffee replied before taking another sip of his drink. "If I may ask, where exactly are you from, Miss...?" Toffee asked.

The door held strong against Rant's barrage and even wouldn't budge when Teddy increased his body mass to pull heavily on the doorknob. It wasn't the only door in the hall and, at the very least, they knew the bathroom door was free.

kY8I6ut.png

"One second," Teddy said, before moving to another nearby door and pulling heavily on it. It was locked.

An examination of the waiting room's doors in full would reveal that all were locked, aside from the bathroom. Teddy almost thought suspiciously of this, but no one had yet ventured to see where the open hallways at each end of the waiting room led. He joined Rant and Noembelu after a moment to report what he found.

"All the doors are locked and the bathroom is trashed. Can't say yet what's down the hallways, 'cause no one's bothered to try and leave yet."

"Is that so..." Without another word, Noembelu would start down the west hallway. Honestly, she was curious as to what she would find, if anything at all.

Mason's eyes widened in surprise at Nono's sudden screech. He hurried to say something in an attempt to calm her.

"I'm good friends with Kido and Madoka. They've told me a lot about you, Morikubo," he said, bluffing just the tiniest bit. Sure, the producers bragged about their girls, but it wasn't as if Mason could remember much off the top of his head. "They say you're sweet, and shy, but you sing and dance really well!"

He, returning to truth, said, "Your Producer helped me out a lot when I was in trouble, so we became good friends. He thinks very highly of you. I trust him, and I think he trusts me. Do you trust me, Morikubo?"

"Neither Kido nor Madoka are here,"
Mason thought, "So I might be the closest she has to her producer here. Well, at least it seems that she has taken a shine to Kyoko."

Leon noticed that Kirigiri had other things on her mind, so he turned his attention towards Mason for a second, noticing something, "Mason, please back up a bit from her." His request was due to noticing that Nono was slightly uncomfortable in the scenario she was in.

He sits down and keeps his attention on something near Nono, to avoid eye contact, as he talks to her. "I didn't catch your name. My name is Leon, Mason's older brother." He told her a gentle tone, trying to help her calm down some.

The woman smiled and the... Septarian? "The Mewni dimension... That is unheard of to me, but I welcome you~" she said gently, smiling all along. "My name is Koriand'r, from the planet Tamaran." She began, when questioned of where she was from. Then she added, "I came to Earth though, and reside amongst those known as the Teen Titans, as well as my boyfriend, Dick Grayson. He is quite the amazing man, and the Titans are quite something themselves." She continued, almost rambling.

Noembelu and Rant soon found out that the hallway led directly to a ballroom.

It seemed empty, almost abandoned, and dimly lit. There did not seem to be any other exits from the ballroom aside from the hallways the pair just came from.

"Don't forget expensive. Very expensive. Who the hell is her family?" Rant said as he went to go inspect the piano. He lifted the cover over the keys and went banging away on them. The mouse couldn't play for his life, but he had fun messing around with the instrument.

"Oh, Mr. Moretti. So you're here as well," Kyoko said, mildly surprised at Mason's appearance. Admittedly, it felt strange to have him so casually greet her after rather unceremoniously resigning just a relatively short amount of time ago, but either the boy was oblivious to such implications or had completely forgotten about the past, from what she can infer from what she knew of him at least. Of course, either way, perhaps it made little difference, considering how hush-hush the young woman realized she had been already, but again, it was simply her nature.

"Yes, I suppose you could say we're... work associates," the lavender woman responded to Nono, seeming to deliberately avoid using the other word, before turning back to Mason and Leon, "I imagine there might be another guest from the Coalition somewhere around here, knowing Wanda's connections, but I wouldn't know for sure; I came by myself."

"And it's nice to meet you too," she continued from there, but said little more, simply nodding to Leon as she maintained her curt streak, keeping a straight, neutral face all throughout the exchange.

kiri036.png

"And I'll keep that in mind, Zenyatta. Thank you," she spoke. Perhaps the monk was right. She felt a familiarity with the tone Zenyatta had taken to her, reminded vaguely of how Genji had spoken to her when they had first met, initially at odds with each other. Kyoko was aware of what people thought of her, and how her mannerisms were always a polarized thing. Some found it an admirable trait, the ability to hide one's feelings well to everyone but themselves, while others found it worringly robotic, and that was coming from two men who were partly robotic themselves. But Kyoko simply fancied herself someone who was just able to separate professionalism from personal judgment, and even then, she found herself slipping with that lately.

The strange part was... She had to wonder if that also would cause debate on whether or not that was a good thing.

For now though, she had her mind on other things. Whether from intuition or impatience, she could feel Wanda's presence drawing closer any moment now. The witch always carried about her a certain aura, one that emanated from her being rather than any mystical power she conjured, and while clairvoyant Kyoko was not, it was simply something she came to be familiar with after spending her time working with her.

"In any case, I would hope that there is an exception to your analogy, Zenyatta. I came to this party to see how Wanda was doing, after all, and any... tomfoolery would be rather undue here. We're all civilized here, aren't we?"

"Geez... that's a bit embarassing... just a bit though..." Nono responds, "but it's good to know that someone else is taking care of Morikubo's Producer, aside from his sister. And Chihiro-san..."

After knowing that Kyoko and Mason were work associates, Nono thought that Mason was to be trusted.

"Morikubo, Morikubo Nono..." Nono introduced herself to the Moretti brothers, "pleased to... meet you both. Morikubo can trust you both... probably..."

Teddy grimaced as Rant's mishandling of the piano created a cacophony of noise that echoed from the ballroom and out into the waiting room. Teddy could feel a chill as if a wind was picking up. It passed down the hallway, through the waiting room, and down the opposite hallway. Noembelu felt the wind just as someone appeared at the end of the East hallway. The individual was a woman and she wore an unmistakable scarlet robe.

MAxuXcK.png

She passed by Noembelu without a word, moving into the waiting room where she had to step down a flight of stairs to reach the guests. It was clear to everyone then that it was the woman of the hour, Wanda Maximoff.

"Welcome, everyone! I'm glad to see you all got my letters! Look at all of you! Come to the dining room."

As she spoke, the woman seemed well-adjusted. With a smile on her face, Wanda motioned for everyone to follow her back up the stairs and down the East hallway. However, some people weren't willing to wait for answers.

"Sister! What in hell--"

"Just get inside, Pietro!"

Wanda composed herself but glanced upon the guests with a look of grim seriousness.

Billy quickly made his way toward Wanda, a look of concern on his face. "Wanda..." He barely got a word out, however, when he spotted the look she was shooting Pietro. Billy didn't want Wanda to snap, after all. Perhaps it would have been best to at least see what Wanda had prepared before peppering her with questions.

The witch did not look at Billy or Tommy, nor did she acknowledge their existence.

In any case, Wanda seemed intent on moving the group out of the waiting room despite whatever questions or reservations they had. With the choice to either wait some more or follow. It wasn't much of a choice. Teddy made sure to escort Nancy so that she could walk on her sprained ankle.

Still trying to be calm, the witch's hand shook as she pointed to the door at the end of the hallway. "Get inside the dining room, Brother. All will be explained. That goes for everyone. Please." Those who followed would find themselves led down a spacious corridor, all the way to a fancy dining room.

A7MFrsD.jpg

"More of you came than I had... expected."

With a flourish of her hand, Wanda expanded the room's size and added a second dining table, enough to fit all the guests. Teddy helped Nancy into one of the chairs and moved to look out one of the open windows, but Wanda closed the curtains with a wave of her hand. "It's getting late and the natural lighting suits this room better."

Josephine stepped into the room, followed by Captain America and Pietro. Noticing the same flowers from earlier in one of the vases, Josephine lightly brought up the subject.

"So, Wanda, I can't help but notice your interesting choice of flower. I have never seen them before. May I ask what they are?"

Sitting at the head of one of the tables, Wanda smiled at Josephine and was more than happy to respond.

"They are the Wundagore Everbloom. A very rare flower that can only be grown in the shadow-passes of the Wundagore Mountains. The family and I... we went to fetch them, just for you all. It adds a personal touch."

Billy exchanged a confused glance with Tommy, who sat opposite of him, but the silver-haired boy only shrugged. Wanda continued, never breaking her smile.

"I remember that my teacher, Agatha, and I would go to the nearby airport and watch the foolish tourists buy them from local dealers. Most of them weren't real. Just dyed roses. Everyone wanted to see if the legend was true."

"Wait, you made no mention of a legend. I'm curious to know, what is it?"

Wanda suddenly froze, frowning.

"... Forget it."

It didn't seem wise to push that particular subject further. "I'm sure you have many questions for me," Wanda said. "But do keep in mind that your food will be ready very soon! I've prepared a feast for all of us."

Mason watched with wonder as Wanda's powers rescaled the room. The whole presentation of Wanda at this party had him awestruck.

"You made it." Toffee said dryly with just a small hint of sarcasm when Wanda had entered the room. He would remain silent while she made her introduction, remaining this way until everyone found themselves in the dining room.

Taking a seat at the table, the lizard would politely put his napkin in the collar of his shirt and made sure to keep his hands in his lap while he awaited his meal.

"I have quite a few questions as well, Ms. Maximoff. For starters, and excuse me if I'm coming off as rude, but why go years without speaking to some of us and then suddenly invite us to a gathering? I mean I appreciate the gesture, Ms. Maximoff, but you must certainly see how one could find this whole ordeal quite.... strange."

"..."

Perhaps as expected of her, Kyoko stayed silent all throughout as Wanda made herself known. So here she finally was, in the flesh, and of course, as expected, there was something off about her. It was something you'd see in any horror mystery novel or film. A courteous host of a strange party who can switch from inviting to unnerving on a complete whim. She was not used to Wanda carrying this sort of aura. Though she would have been hard-pressed to say that Wanda was the most stable person she met, especially after the death of Genji, she never imagined that the Scarlet Witch would have taken this sort of shift in her personality. Something was definitely wrong here; it was as though she were a completely different person. And Kyoko was going to make sure she'd get to the bottom of this.

With her guard up, Kyoko walked with everyone to the dining room that Wanda had led them all to. She remained completely stone-faced when she so casually used her powers to restructure the dining room to fit everyone in, but the one thing that caused her to raise an eyebrow was the woman's response to Josephine's inquiry concerning the flowers that she had picked out. Kyoko made a mental note of Wanda's response; it could have been nothing for all she knew, but just the tone in which that response was conveyed, as well as the phrase "just for you all" caused a wave of apprehension to surge briefly within the detective. The way she spoke felt... almost as though she were in some sort of dream-like state, if Kyoko were being honest with herself, her suspicions all the more fueled at Wanda abruptly dropping the subject in response to Josephine's continued questions. Kyoko wanted to know more about this so-called legend, but she wasn't foolish. If a reality bending witch didn't want to talk about something, then pressing would have obviously been a bad idea.

Speaking of ideas, Kyoko hatched one in her mind, and quickly began to play it out.

"Oh, a feast? I didn't know you enjoyed cooking so much, Wanda," Kyoko spoke suddenly, putting a hand on her hip, "I hope cilantro mushroom soup is on the menu. You know how much I like that, don't you?"

Maximoff, but you must certainly see how one could find this whole ordeal quite.... strange."

"What do you mean she just disappeared?" Mason turned his head to face Toffee, and realized that he had rudely ignored the lizard man earlier. "I don't think I caught your name..."

He nervously cleared his throat. "I have a penchant for going from place to place," he said, glancing at Kyoko. Mason worried a little bit that his former boss might have a little bit of a grudge from his sudden resignation with little warning, and felt that he may have just chosen the wrong words. He continued, "...but surely SOMEONE knew where she was, right? If not Kyoko... Then maybe this family she wants us to meet. Right, Wanda?"

"That actually sounds pretty good... Did you make enough for me too?"

Mason had a sneaking suspicion that Kyoko was using her detective skills to gather something. Unfortunately, his mouth started running before his brain could hold it back. Hopefully it would help Kyoko's plan instead of hurt it, but he had been too busy to ear before arriving at the party, and after mentioning the soup, his stomach began to growl.
